Bartholomew, Darlene R.
Darlene R. Bartholomew 1922 ~ 2004  FAYETTE, UTAH - Our beloved and devoted
mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Darlene Ann Rasmussen
Bartholomew, age 82, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2004 in Gunnison,
Utah.  She was born August 7, 1922 in Salina, Utah, a daughter of Clayton and
Mary Westenskow Rasmussen. She married Dean Wintsch Bartholomew, August 27,
1944 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt
Lake LDS Temple, February 20, 1945. He died March 11, 1999. Darlene is
survived by her children: DeVon Parson, Pam and Paul Braithwaite, all of
Salina; Clayton Bartholomew of West Jordan; Deann and Craig Bluemel of Lyman,
Wyoming; Mary Louise and Rick Dove of North Ogden; Janice and Rex Oliver of
Santa Clara; 25 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister:
Calvin and June Rasmussen of Riverton; Neal and DeLora Rasmussen, Helen and
Tom McCullough, all of Las Vegas, Nevada.  She was preceded in death by a son,
Dean Brent Batholomew; one grandson; a sister, Anita Taylor; a brother, Hal
Rasmussen and a daughter-in-law, Terry Bartholomew. Funeral services will be
held Saturday, November 27, 2004 at 12 Noon in the Fayette LDS Ward Chapel,
where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior
to the services. Burial will be in the Fayette Cemetery under the direction of
the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah. On

Brown, Christopher David
Christopher David Brown 10/9/75 ~ 11/21/04  Our son, brother, fianc‚, uncle,
grandson and friend, Chris Brown, was taken from us November 21, 2004. He was
born in San Diego, CA, on October 9,1975. He lived his life as a free sprit
with the energy and love few experience. People were drawn to his joyous and
spontaneous personality. He lived with his whole heart, and his contagious
smile, and laughter will be missed by all. He is survived by his love Melissa,
mother Carol Brown, father James (Ken) Brown, Stepmother Carroll Brown,
sisters; Caroline, Kelly and Tamra, niece Sophia, nephew Jacob, Grandparents
Caroline Barry, Lander and Evelyn Dellinger, Susan Barker and many aunts,
uncles, cousins and other extended family. Memorial services will be held at
10:30 am, Saturday, November 27, 2004 at the Garner Funeral Home, 1001 11th
Avenue, Salt Lake City.

Cox, Melvin Orville
Melvin Orville Cox 1910 ~ 2004  Melvin Orville Cox, 94, died Monday, November
22, 2004. He was a quiet, unassuming man whose influence for good will be felt
for generations. He was born November 8, 1910 in Fairview, Utah to Ada Sirilla
Howell and Vern Cox. He was proud of his Sanpete County heritage and always
enjoyed returning to his childhood home and the nearby mountains. Melvin
attended elementary school in Fairview and completed high school at North
Sanpete High. He was a good student but recalled climbing out the elementary
school window when he found the lesson of the day unsatisfactory.  He served a
mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the East
Central States, laboring in Kentucky before being introduced to his future
wife, Edith Emma Beckstrand, who was attending Snow College in Ephraim. It was
love at first sight, and they married on March 10, 1933, in the Manti Temple.
Edith had returned to her home in Meadow, Utah, to teach school, and they
managed only five meetings, mostly on holidays, before the wedding. They lived
in Fairview and Manti before moving to Salt Lake City in December 1937. 
Melvin was a faithful and devoted church member and served in many callings,
including bishoprics and high priest groups. He was a ward clerk in three
different wards. He fulfilled home teaching duties and greeted members of the
East Millcreek Ninth Ward as they arrived at Sacrament Meeting until the time
of his death. He and Edith had moved to the East  Millcreek area in 1960 and
enjoyed the association of many neighborhood friends.  In Manti, Melvin worked
in the county clerk's office. In Salt Lake, he held positions of
responsibility with the Utah Department of Social Security (now the Department
of Work Force Services) for 35 years and was admired by those with whom he
worked. He has maintained associations with colleagues, meeting regularly for
luncheon gatherings. Edith and Melvin served a mission at the Oakland Temple
Visitors' Center from 1975 to 1977. They were among the first guides at the
Church Museum of History and Art and were ordinance workers at the Salt Lake
Temple. He loved all of these callings.  Melvin and Edith traveled widely in
the United States and abroad. After Edith's death in 2001, Melvin continued
their practice of traveling with family members and rarely missed a birthday,
baptism, graduation or wedding. His family and his religious convictions were
most important to him. His grandchildren visited him frequently, and they
loved him as much as he loved them. Several lived in the downstairs of the
family home and added excitement to his life. Melvin was the ultimate
gardener. Friends and family enjoyed his prize-winning tomatoes, and even
casual passers-by commented on his beautiful rose garden. His family
particularly benefited from his ability to fix almost anything. He managed to
accumulate and recycle an amazing assortment of items that most people would
have discarded as junk. Melvin is survived by two daughters and their
husbands, Sherilyn (Ben) Bennion, Salt Lake City, and JoLynn (Gayle) Warner,
Cedar City; a son-in-law, Jerry Watts, Murray; a brother-in-law, Orrin B.
Beckstrand, Bountiful; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and three
great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith; three
sisters; three brothers; and a daughter, Gayle Gregory Watts. Funeral services
for Melvin will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the East
Millcreek Ninth Ward Chapel, 3750 S. Hillside Lane (2600 East). Friends may
call at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E., from 6 p.m.   8 p.m. Friday
evening and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m.   10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
Interment will be at the Meadow City Cemetery, Meadow UT, after a brief
graveside service at 3 p.m. Funeral Directors: Holbrook Mortuary.

Faber, Danny Douglas
Danny Douglas Faber "The Caboose"  Danny Douglas Faber passed away peacefully
in his sleep on November 22, 2004 after losing a courageous battle with life. 
Dan was born on August 5, 1952 to Rose Krznovich and Karl J. Faber, the
youngest of six children. He was an avid animal lover, especially fond of
horses. Dan was a caretaker with a heart of gold, always giving to many
homeless and people with less than him. Dan was preceded in death by both his
mother and father and is survived by his older brother Grant "Buck" (Shauna),
sister Karla (Chuck) Alvey, brothers Michael (Paula), Terry (Pam) and David
(Amalia). Dan is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved him.  Our
special heartfelt thanks to Dr. Razado, Dayna and Mitzi at the U of U, Karen,
Jennifer and Tricia at CNS Hospice and to the entire staff at Crossland Care
Center for all your love, guidance and understanding. Memorial services will
be held Friday, November 26, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760
So. State St. where friends and family may call from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Inurnment
to follow at Murray City Cemetery.  We will miss you Danny. The world and our
family were better because of you. All our Love, Sis, Buck, Mike, Terry and
David. In lieu of flowers, Dan and the family suggest donations to the Utah
Aids Foundation.

Green, Milton Charles
Milton Charles Green 1928 ~ 2004  Milton Charles Green returned to his
Heavenly father peacefully at his home in Centerville on Nov 22, 2004.  He was
born in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 27, 1928 to William C. And Mary Layton
Green. Milt was married for 55 years to his childhood sweetheart, and best
friend, Joyce McNeil, on April 9, 1949. Sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple,
November 18, 1955. Milt was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saint and served in many callings throughout his lifetime.
Presidencies of Young Men's and Elders Quorums. Milt worked hard all his life
starting as a small boy in the onion fields of Woods Cross. He joined the Navy
in 1945 and served in the Pacific theater. Upon returning home, he worked for
Phillips Refinery and was founder of M.C. Green, Inc., later to become M.C.
Green and Sons, Inc. He was always proud of the quality of his work and many
large contracts were made on the shake of a hand. His hard working ethics are
a legacy that continues today through the hardworking men who continue to work
for the company. Milt and Joyce were members of the Oakridge Country Club,
where they participated in their love of golf with lifetime friends and he
served on the board and as president. Milt loved to golf, many days playing 36
holes. He had 3 hole-in-ones and had the most fun playing with his children
and grandchildren of whom he was most proud. Milt and his beloved wife
traveled many places in the world with Hawaii being his favorite destination.
Milt was fun to travel with and enjoyed reading and was a walking encyclopedia
of facts he had studied. He loved to garden and won five Salt Lake Tribune
Civic Beautification awards. Many happy hours were spent with his
grandchildren working in his garden. His yard was a tribute to a great man who
loved life, family and friends. He authored four books and was a member of the
Bountiful Literary Guild. Milt studied and graduated from the International
Architectural School.  He is survived by his wife, Joyce; two sisters and one
brother and five loving children, Connee Tingey, Brad (Susan), Mark (Lisa),
Susan (Wally St. Joer), and Bill; 16 grandchildren; and nine
great-grandchildren.  Services will be held Saturday, November 27, 2004 at
11:00 a.m. at the Centerville South Stake Center, 270 N. 300 E. Friends may
call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main
and Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services.

Hunter, Gerri A.
Gerri A. Hunter 6/14/42 ~ 11/22/04  Gerri Hunter died on November 22, 2004, at
the age of 62.  She was born June 14, 1942, in Long Beach, CA to Carl and
Lucile Benschneider. She grew up in Norwalk, California and graduated from
Excelsior High in 1960. She also attended and graduated from Cerritos College.
She moved to Utah in 1974 and has loved it ever since.  She was a loving woman
who spent her life serving others. She worked at Zion's Securities for 23
years in human resources.  She participated and spearheaded several charity
events as well as served in many volunteer positions.  She is survived by her
loving husband Roger, as well as her children, Philip, Keyth, Marc, Darren,
Ann-Marie, and Karl, and her brother Don and sisters Diane and Layne. Her 16
grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive her. The viewing will be
on Friday from 6-8 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South and on
Saturday at the church one hour prior to the services. The funeral service
will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the LDS chapel at 8600 S 1200 E, followed
by the graveside service at Larkin Sunset Gardens.  She will be greatly missed

Hurley, Alta
Alta Hurley 1905 ~ 2004  ROOSEVELT  Our Beloved Mother and Grandmother, Alta
Lambert Hurley, 99, passed away Nov. 23, 2004, in the Uintah Basin Medical
Center. She was born Oct. 5, 1905, in Heber City, to Joseph Heber and Alice
Michie Lambert. She married Emerson Hurley March 8, 1926 in Vernal, and their
marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple September 14, 1956. He
died October 5, 1969 Alta was an award winning crocheter and made many afghans
for her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader with an inquisitive
mind and was always learning. She worked in the Post Office for 21 years and
retired when she was about 70 years old. She was a good seamstress and had a
great sense of humor. Alta was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints and held many stake and ward callings. She was a kind and
loving person whom we will all miss. She is survived by her children,
Josephine King, Bountiful; Jason M. (Charline) Hurley, Roosevelt; Richard E.
(Diane) Hurley, Bountiful; Maxine (Kay) Brinkerhoff, St. George; Maura (Lloyd)
Carlson, El Segundo, CA; 11 grandchildren, 31 great-grand children, three
great-great-grand children. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott
Brinkerhoff; and her eight brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held
12:00 noon, Saturday, November 27, 2004, at the Hullinger Mortuary, 457 East
300 North, Roosevelt. Friends and family may call at the mortuary Saturday
from 11-11:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.

Jackson, Newton Robert
Newton Robert Jackson 1924 ~2004  Newton Robert Jackson, beloved husband,
father and grandfather passed away peacefully on November 21, 2004 in
Escondido, California.  He was born September 28, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah
the second child of Newton Rumell Jackson and Jessie Isabella Hammond Jackson.
He grew up during the Depression in Salt Lake City and attended local schools
and graduated from East High School in 1940. He married Darlene "Chris"
Christiansen in 1948. Newt served as a medical officer in the Navy and Marines
during World War II and graduated from the University of Utah Medical School
in 1952. He Interned with the Public Health Service in Staten Island, N.Y. and
at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. From 1954-57 he completed his Residency at
Salt Lake County Hospital and achieved his M.D. with a further specialization
in Radiology. He established his Private Medical Practice in 1957 in Whittier,
California where he served as a physician and head of the Radiology Department
at Whittier Hospital for 27 years until his retirement in 1984. He moved to
Pauma Valley, CA in 1985. Newt Jackson was an avid and excellent golfer and
served on the Southern California Golf Association Rating Committee for 15
years. He was a leader and member of the Salt Lake Country Club; Hacienda
Country Club (La Habra, CA); Friendly Hills Country Club (Whittier, CA); and
Pauma Valley Country Club and maintained a scratch to 10 handicap most of his
life. Newt will be remembered most fondly for his gentle, patient and kind
demeanor which he exhibited always with his wife, family patients, and
everyone else around him. He seldom if ever angered or raised his voice at
anyone and teared-up easily when others were happy or succeeded. His other
hobbies and interests included jazz music, home repair expert and avocation
could have been as a used car salesman. He was proud of the 1934 Bentley he
built in his garage in 1987. Newt had a keen intellect, quick wit and fine
sense of humor and could build almost anything with his hands. He was member
of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has left a wonderful
legacy for five children, 26 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  He
is survived by his wife Chris of 56 years, his twin sons, Gregory H. Jackson
(Valerie) of Orem UT; , Jeffrey H. Jackson (Jan) of Little Rock, AR; and his
daughters Jan Perry (Rob) of Sandy, UT; Julianne Maire (Wayne) of Redding, CA;
and Nanci Ross (Grant) of Riverton, UT. He was preceded in death by his
parents, sister Maxine Smith and grandsons Timothy and Mike Jackson.  Memorial
Services will be held on Saturday, November 27 at 11:30 am at the Valley
Center, CA, LDS Chapel. Interment will be in Oak Hills Memorial Park,

Johnsen, Ferris Mehner
Lt . Col Ferris Mehner Johnsen 7/14/22 ~ 11/3/04  Our dear sweet father,
brother, and grandfather returned home to join his eternal companion Lorna
Luella Johnsen, Wednesday, November 3, 2004. What a joyous reunion for them to
be together again. Ferris was the fourth son of Ervin Daniel Johnsen and Ida
Susanne Mehner Johnsen. He was born July 14, 1922, in Spanish Fork,
Utah.Ferris graduated from East High School and served in the United States
Navy from 1943   1946. He joined the United States Air Force in 1951. During
that same year he met his eternal companion Lorna, and they married September
20, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. He served in Florida, England, Utah, Japan,
and Texas. He retired from the Air Force in 1969 and returned to the
University of Utah where he received a Masters degree in Education. He was
appointed the Media Director at the Salt Lake Community College in 1970 and
retired in 1979. Ferris was active in the LDS church where he held numerous
callings and served them faithfully. He was a member of the Mormon Tabernacle
Choir for 6 years and loved every minute of it! He had a deep love for his
family and a strong testimony of the gospel. He was very proud to be an
American. All appreciated his sense of humor. He loved writing, music and
nature. He had a passion for learning and education. He would tell family and
friends, "Knowledge is Power!" Ferris completed several books, some of which
have been published. He was a kind, loving father and was adored by his
grandchildren. He is survived by his son, Kent, (Sandra) Johnsen, Newark,
Delaware, daughter, Tauna Jacobsen, Alpine, Utah, grandchildren; Lauren,
Matthew, Shelley, Angela, Sheila, Emily, and Noel, brothers; Ervin Mehner
Johnsen, (Shirley) Salt Lake City, Utah, Fred Mehner Johnsen, Bountiful, Utah,
Norden Mehner Johnsen, (Joyce), Salt Lake City, Utah, Woodrow Mehner Johnsen,
(Sheryl), Salt Lake City, Utah and his sister Ruby Adolphson, Bountiful, Utah
as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday,
November 27, 2004 at 12:00 noon at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401
South Highland Drive, Salt Lake city, Utah. Friends may call from 10:00-11:45

Johnson, Laurance Marin
Laurance Marin Johnson 7/22/14 ~ 11/22/04  Our beloved husband, father,
grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Laurance Marin Johnson, age 90, passed
away in West Jordan on November 22, 2004. Born July 22, 1914 in Moab, Utah,
son of Laurance Johnson, Sr. And Anna Small. He married Edith Tippets in
Preston, Idaho, July 3, 1936, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Marin
was a construction superintendent for most of his life. Marin was a high
priest in the LDS Church. Survived by his wife; four children, Larry (Mary),
Robert (Sharon), Maurine (Ron) Chesnut, and Karen (Vern) Nelson; 11
grandchildren, 22 « great-grandchildren; sisters Laura Ross, Delta Sanderson
and Dorothy Perkins; brother, Lynn. Preceded in death by brother, Lloyd;
great-grand daughter, Stephanie Dennis; three brothers-in-law; one
sister-in-law.  Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the River
6th Ward, 7350 South 1300 West. A viewing will be on Saturday one hour prior
to services. Services under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home. Interment,
West Jordan City Cemetery.

Kendall, Kerry J.
Kerry J Kendall Gone Fishing  Our kind, gentle, loving and devoted husband,
father and grandfather returned home to our Father-In-Heaven on November 18,
2004 Kerry was born September 9, 1941, the only child of Leslee and Kathryn
(Warburton) Kendall. He served his country proudly in the Navy and he traveled
the world with his parents. He then married the love of his life, Pamela J.
Allen.  Together they raised three sons, Thomas J (Sandi), John E., Andrew J,
who admired and respected him. He shared every bit of knowledge and humor he
learned in his life with his boys. He adored his grandson, Isaac (Grandpa's
Boy). He brought pure joy to Kerry whenever he came to visit and play with
their dog, Princess Nevi. WE WILL MISS YOU DEARLY As per Kerry's request a
small service will be held at his home 5750 So. Lakeside Drive, Murray.
Friday, Nov. 26th, at 3 p.m. when all family and friends are welcome to
attend.

Knudsen, Lelia Searson
Lelia Searson Knudsen 1918 ~ 2004  Lelia S. Knudsen passed away peacefully on
November 23, 2004.  Lelia was born April 17, 1918 in Green River, Utah, to
Frank and Elsa Lewis Searson. She graduated from Green River High School and
LDS Business College. She worked for 40 years as Office Manager of the law
firm "Pennie and Edmonds" in Washington, D.C.  She is survived by her son,
Phillip (Rebecca Holley and daughter, Jamie); sister, Wynona Bench, Dickson,
Tennessee; brother, Willard (Lenna) Searson, Sacramento, California; and many
choice nieces, nephews and dear friends. No words can express how much she
will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Preceded in death by her beloved
husband, Howard F. Knudsen. Funeral services will be held at Cottonwood Hts
5th Ward, 7075 South 2245 East, Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday, November 27,
2004 at 2:00 p.m. Viewing one hour prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn

Leggett, Charles Ernest
Charles Ernest Leggett "Chick" Beloved husband, dad, grandpa  Charles Ernest
Leggett passed away Nov. 21, 2004 at his home in Sandy.  Born Oct. 8, 1938 in
Salt Lake City to Ernest Edmond and Eleanor Benson Leggett. He married Eva
Marie Gardner, Nov. 16, 1964. Chick was a loving husband, a devoted dad and
grandpa. His greatest joy was being with his family. He had a great love of
the outdoors which he passed on to his kids. Fishing and hunting with his sons
was a treasure. He loved to work with his hands and build. He was more than a
woodworker, he was a craftsman who passed his legacy and love of building on
to his sons. He loved to work. He found his inner peace and solitude working
in his yard. He was always fair. He truly lived the golden rule. He was a hard
worker, a good neighbor and gave of himself without question or praise. I pray
that I may live to fish until my dying day, and when it comes to my last task,
I then most humbly pray, when in the Lord's great landing net and peacefully
asleep, that in his mercy I be judged, big enough to keep.  We love and miss
you dad. Survived by his wife, E. Marie Leggett; daughter Cindy (Todd) Mayhew;
son Ryan (Timi) Leggett; daughter Mardee (Robb) Johnson, son Tyler (Sunny)
Leggett; nine grandchildren; sister Beverly Esmeyer, sister Shirley Cowley;
sister Marilyn Morgan; Carolyn Devonish. Preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday Nov. 27, 2004 at 12 noon at the
Crescent 2nd Ward Chapel, 10975 So. Prescott Dr. Sandy, UT. Friends and family
may call Friday, Nov. 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley 1007 W.
So. Jordan Parkway (10550 So.) and on Sat. one hr. prior to services.

Lund III, Robert C.
Robert C. Lund III "You're Pressed "  Robert Charles Lund III (Bob), passed
away November 23, 2004 in Murray, Utah. Born May 18th, 1935 in East Mill
Creek, to Thomas Judd Lund and Margaret Burt. He married Carol Nash in 1953,
later divorced. Married Heide Kerns in 1988. He attended Granite High School.
Robert worked for Mt. Fuel Company for 26 years, then launched a second
business career with many entrepreneurial successes. He enjoyed life to its
fullest; often involved in pleasant competition like golf, bowling or a family
card game, always with a small wager and a smile. Forever an eternal optimist,
Robert quietly and often anonymously blessed the lives of others through his
unfailing generosity and kindness. Survived by wife, Heide Lund and daughter
Elisabeth, and his children, Robert Charles IV (Leslie), Russell K. (Shauna),
James Judd (Amy), Tiffanie (Craig) Anderson. His legacy includes 16
grandchildren, one great-grandchild. Preceded in death by parents, one
brother, Thomas Judd, one sister, Mary Jean McGhie and son, Rex Douglas. A
celebration of his life and his goodness will be held in an LDS Memorial
Service Saturday, November 27th, 10:00 a.m. at the Cimarron Ward, 5980 S. 1300

Marchant, Iris Russell
Iris Russell Marchant 1925 ~ 2004  "Loving Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, and
Sister" Iris Russell Marchant, 79, our special Mom and Grandma, passed away
November 22, 2004.  She was born July 30, 1925 in Marion, Utah to Charles
Lyman and Vera Gibbons Russell. On September 25, 1946, Iris married John
Harold Marchant in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. John preceded her in death in
1993. Iris was a faithful member of the LDS Church who gave compassion to all
in need. She served on the Midvale City Arts Council and retired from Jordan
School District where she worked as a secretary. She was an avid Ute fan,
enjoyed traveling and camping. Her grandchildren enjoyed her total support in
all their activities. Survivors: children, Michele Teran (Doug), Sandy;
Kristine Ard (DeWayne), Kearns; Cynthia Bates (John), Taylorsville; Annette
Morley (Shawn), So. Jordan; Sherilyn Neuenswander (Mark), Midvale; 17
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Austin
(Margaret), Raymond (Laurie), Ruth Hathaway, June Smart (Leon), Ina Bulygo,
Charlyn Sorensen, Karma Bruin (Jerry), Nelda Donga. Funeral services will be
held Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. in the Midvale 3rd & 4th Ward,
7825 So. Olympus Street. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary 8090 So. State
Friday 6-8 p.m. or Saturday at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment,

Marshall, Howard Edmund
Howard Edmund Marshall 1913 ~ 2004  Howard Edmund Marshall, 91, passed away in
Salt Lake City, Utah, Nov. 20, 2004The oldest son of Edmund James and Bardella
Barker Marshall, he was born October 31, 1913 in North Ogden, Utah. He spent
his younger years in grade school in North Ogden, Utah then graduated from
Weber County High School in 1933. He attended Weber College for one and a half
years. He married the love of his life, Thersa Randall, in Logan, Utah the day
before his birthday in 1936 and was sealed to her in the Salt Lake Temple at a
later date. He spent two years as a Technical Sergeant in World War II,
serving in Europe. Howard spent 40 years selling pharmaceuticals and
biologicals to Veterinarian Doctors and loved every minute of it. He was a top
salesman because of his hard work and friendly ways with people. Howard simply
loved people.  Howard was an active member of the LDS Church where he held
various positions over the years.  He leaves behind one sister, Faye Walton of
Carson City, NV and a brother, Dean Marshall of Fresno, CA; Howard is survived
by his wife Thersa and his three children; two daughters, Jan (Bruce) Major of
Sandy; Marilyn (Barry) Campbell of Racine, Wisconsin; and one son, Brent R.
(Judy) Marshall of Sandy, Utah; 10 grand children and 11 great grand children.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Cleone and Jean and
his dog Tosca.  The viewing will be held at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South
Temple, in Salt Lake City on Saturday, Nov. 27th, from 10:30-11:45 a.m. A
short service will follow from 12-12:30 p.m. Howard will be laid to rest at
the Ogden City Cemetery, 1875 Monroe Blvd. in Ogden, Utah. In lieu of flowers,
Howard requested donations be sent to Primary Children's Hospital.  Emailed

Newman, Michael Joseph
Michael Joseph Newman 1939 ~ 2004  Mike Newman passed away on Sunday, November
21, 2004.  He was born on June 20, 1939 in Salt Lake City to Ruth Mullett
Newman and Lloyd Stonebraker Newman. Mike grew up on Clinton Avenue in Salt
Lake City and had the run of Capitol Hill as a child. He attended West High
School and then Olympus High School after his family moved to the Cottonwood
area. Mike was a skilled and proud sheet metal worker. He learned his trade
from his father and began his career at Lloyd Newman Company. He retired in
2001 from Metco. Mike loved the outdoors. He loved riding horses and
motorcycles, and shooting his guns. He is survived by his daughters Charlotte
Hoffman and Mary Michelle Henderson (Randy); grandchildren Mallory, Mitchell,
and Matthew Henderson; and sister Carol Sweet (Paul). Preceded in death by his
parents; brother Vaughn Newman; and sister Joyce Shaw. Graveside services will
be held Friday, November 26, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery,
2350 East 1300 South.

Owens, Margaret Quinney
Margaret Quinney Owens 1918 ~ 2004  Richfield, Utah--Margaret Quinney Owens, a
loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and
friend, passed away November 23, 2004 at her home in Richfield, Utah at the
age of 86.  She was cherished by her family and all that met her. She had a
genuine smile for everyone that warmed their hearts. She was born in Logan,
Utah on April 29, 1918 to Wilford Quinney and Margaret Maria Willison. She had
one sibling, a beautiful sister, Dorothy Quinney McClellan. She married
Millard V. Owens on January 16, 1943 in Oakland, California, during World War
II. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. She is survived by
her husband, Millard; children, Margaree (Vard) Roper, Orem; Karalee (Doug)
Church, Mesa, AZ; RaeLynn (Wally) Western, Alpine; Loene (Gary) Dutson,
Deseret, UT; Allen (Joyce) Owens, Las Vegas, NV; and Laurie (John) Thalman,
Richfield; 37 grandchildren; and 65 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by her parents; sister, Dorothy Quinney McClellan and granddaughter,
Danielle Thalman. Margaret loved her family and making special gifts for all.
Her hours of sewing, hand work, and her art talent will be missed and
remembered fondly. She served diligently in all her church callings and
sincerely loved those she served with. She was a Visiting Teacher for many
years and was honored with an award for having 100% record of visiting those
special sisters in her care. Her gentle, quite nature brought comfort to those
in need. Served in the Richfield Stake Storehouse with her husband as
directors. They also served an LDS mission in the Charlotte, North Carolina
Mission. Her testimony of the gospel and her strong spirit will be a lasting
guide in her family's lives until we can all be together again. Funeral
services will be held Saturday, November 27, 2004, at 12 Noon in the Richfield
1st, 3rd and 11th ward LDS chapel, 985 S. 400 W., Richfield. Friends may call
at the Magleby Mortuary, 50 S. 100 W. on Friday evening form 6 to 8 p.m. and
at the ward chapel on Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be
in the Richfield City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Neal S. Magleby & Sons
Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Gunnison.

Peterson, Leon Dale
Leon Dale Peterson 1935 ~ 2004  Leon Peterson 69, loving father, grandfather,
great-grandfather and friend passed away on November 17, 2004 peacefully in
the home he and his son built together and loved in Congress, AZ.  Born August
15, 1935 to Edward V. Peterson and Helen O. Sagendorf in Sandy, Utah. 
Survived by two children; Dale Leon Peterson of Sandy, Utah; Tammy Sue Brand
(Jeff) of West Valley, Utah; two step children; Kirk R. Jensen (Wendy) of
Sandy, Utah; and Cherie J. Zundel (Dan) of Salt Lake City, Utah; four
grandchildren Alisha, Michael, Christina, and Jessica; and two
great-grandchildren, Nathan and Canyon; his brother Kenneth Peterson (Marlene)
of Bountiful, Utah. Preceded in death by his loving wife Sandra, and his
parents. Early in his career he was a truck driver for Associate Foods. He
then worked as a salesman for Henry S. Day Ford dealership, and finished his
career as a foreman with Associate Foods. At 55 years old he retired to travel
with his wife and work at his real talent, creating beautiful woodcrafts. He
enjoyed traveling around selling his woodcrafts and walking his second love,
his dog, Corky. He will be loved and missed by many. We Love you Daddy! At
Leon's request his remains have been cremated. A memorial service will be held
Sat. November 27th 2004 at 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 with service at 11:00 a.m. at
Copperhill's 5th ward 4333 South 6400 West, West Valley City, UT

Preston, Thomas
Thomas Preston "TJ"    Born August 11,1935 passed away Sunday night after
battling cancer for two years.   He is survived by his wife Vita, brother
Bobby and four sons - Jesse, Tim, Sal; Phil, 13 grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.   A memorial service will be held at St. Francis Xavier

Puff, Nancy Joyce Smith
Nancy Joyce Smith Puff 1940 ~ 2004  Our loving wife, mother, grandmother and
friend to all who knew her, passed away on November 23, 2004 to meet the
Savior and her eternal family.  Nancy Joyce Smith was born February 3, 1940 in
Tooele, Utah to Helen Marjorie Johnson and James Lougy Smith. She attended
Tooele Central Elementary, Tooele Junior; and graduated from Tooele High
School in 1958. Nancy was awarded a scholarship to ExCelCis Beauty College and
graduated in 1959. Nancy married Charles Ernest Puff on August 28, 1959 in the
Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. They have two daughters, Shannon
and Andrea. Nancy has always been an active member of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints, and faithfully fulfilled her callings. Her
favorite calling was as a Temple ordinance worker (with Charley) in the Salt
Lake Temple from April 2000 to the day she passed thru the veil. Being a hard
worker all of her life, together with being a devoted wife, mother and
grandmother she was always on the go and loved to shop. Nancy worked for
Mountain bell Telephone Company as an operator when there was no dial or touch
service, only "number please" to get connected. She also worked for England
Construction and retired from Tooele Army Depot (with Charley) in April 1993.
She went back to work for the Tooele Federal Credit Union in May 1993 and
worked there until she had to retire on a medical disability due to her second
ordeal with cancer. Nancy was a wonderful grandmother to Maeve, Jordan,
McCall, and Isabella.  She is survived by her husband Charley, daughters
Shannon Novack (Everett Bassett/Lars Roseth) of Pocatello, ID; Andrea Newberry
(Lance) Tooele, Utah; her brother Gerald Smith, Orem, UT; and friend Doris
Ellenburg; sisters are Marjorie Rutledge (Lloyd) Fresno, CA; Sherry Burton and
friend Melinda White, McCall and Isabella who Nancy and Charley considered
their grandchildren; cousins Phyliss Johnson, Los Angeles, CA; Cheryl Evenson
(Chris) Hyland, UT; and nephew Ian Burton (Megan) Herriman, UT; and numerous
other nephews, nieces and in-laws. Preceded in death by her parents.  The
family wishes to thank Dr. Kent Difiore and staff, Dr. Phillip Roberts and
staff, the nurses and staff at the St. Mark's Hospital and Harmony Home Health
and Hospice for their loving kindness and treatment.  A viewing will be held
on Sunday November 28, 2004 at Tate Mortuary 110 So Main St. Tooele, UT from
6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and 11:30 - 12:30 prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday
Nov 29th in the Middle Canyon Ward 1100 Skyline Dr. Tooele, UT. Burial, Tooele

Savage, Michael Kirk
Michael Kirk Savage "Our Hero" 12/10/70 ~ 11/21/04  On November 21, 2004
Michael Kirk Savage was set free from his earthly battle with cancer to
continue his eternal journey.  Kirk was an inspiration to all who knew him
with his unfailing hope and bright smile. He fought cancer with courage,
dignity, compassion and his usual great sense of humor. Kirk was a loving
husband, a father, a brother and a son. Kirk is and always will be "Our Hero".
Kirk will be missed everyday of our lives, until we are reunited as an eternal
family. He leaves here on earth, his eternal wife, Carrie and five precious
children, Madison, McKenzie, Mallorie, Mikey and Morgan; father, John (Kathy)
Savage; mother, LaDean Savage; brother, Nate (Hillary) and sister, Alyson
(Chuck) Smith; extended family of sister and brothers, Becky, Chris and Corey
Searle; grandmothers, Lena M. Savage and Henny Walters; many aunts, uncles,
cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends. We cannot put into words the
gratitude we feel in our hearts for all our friends and neighbors who have
helped us endure this difficult time with the many prayers, thoughts and gifts
of ENDLESS SERVICE. The family wishes to express their thanks to all the
doctors, nurses and personnel at Huntsman Cancer Institute for the tender care
and hope they gave to all of us throughout this difficult time. One of Kirk's

Fern Armeda  Ohlin Scott 1914 ~ 2004  Fern Armeda Ohlin Scott passed away
November 22, 2004.  She was born July 7, 1914 to Carl Gustav Ohlin and
Jeanette "Nettie" Goodall in Union, Utah. Married Walter Jones Scott July 17,
1935, later solemnized in the Manti Temple. He passed away in September 1961.
Survived by her daughter, Adene Scott; sons, James Walter (Claudette), Ken Ray
(Sue); eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Amber Bodine,
Ethel Bradford, Bernice Ursenbach. Preceded in death by her brother, Spencer.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 27, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the
Winder 3rd Ward, 1250 E. 4530 So. Friends may call Friday, November 26, 2004
from  6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State St., and from
1:00-1:45 p.m. at the church on Saturday prior to services. Interment Elysian
Burial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to

Shupe, Carson Clifford
Carson Clifford Shupe 5/25/1983~11/20/2004  Our beloved son, brother and
friend was suddenly taken from us while doing the things he loved. His passion
of completing a family cabin was his earthly gift to his family. As a tribute
to Carson's memory the project will be continued in his honor.  Carson was
known for his unconditional love and compassion. You would offer a handshake
and he would give you a hug. He sensed when people needed him and offered his
heart. His smile was contagious and unique. He was the glue that bound us all
together. He climbed mountains and carried those who could not. He lived life
to the absolute fullest. Material things mattered little, experiences and
relationships mattered most. The music he played was an expression of his
heart and was used to touch those around him. He made friends where ever he
went even in Africa, snowmobiling, and on the trail. His religious principles
were an extension of his life. Carson is survived by his parents; Stephen and
Peggie Shupe, brothers; Matt (Jeannie) and Casey, sisters; Kristy (Rodney)
Maria, his best friend Jo Jo, and niece Alyssa. His living gift to us was the
dog who always stayed by his side even at the end. "In the mystery of the
unknown nature unfolds the truth. Akin with nature Carson found his truth." 
Services will be held Friday November 26th at 12:00, Canyon Rim Stake Center
3051 S 2900 E. Viewing for family and friends will be held prior to services
from 9:30  11:45. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Stoltenberg, Peggy
Peggy Stoltenberg 1935 ~2004  Peggy Miriam Lindberg Soderquist Stoltenberg was
born on May 18, 1935 to Jack Lindberg and Louise Crawford. Raised by mother
and stepfather, Clarence LeRoy Lane. Married Fred Stoltenberg December 31,
1983. Peggy retired from the telephone company. She was well known for her
porcelain dolls and her fine sewing skills.  Peggy is survived by her husband,
Fred; son, Jerry (Ruby) Soderquiest; grandchildren, Chad and Patti Stratton,
April and Chad Christiansen, and Michelle Soderquist; great-grand-children,
Jacob Stratton, Joshua, Stephanie, and Abigail (one day old) Christiansen;
siblings, Melvin (Pinky) and Margie Lane, Carolyn (Patsy) and Ray Jones, Penny
Facer. Preceded in death by parents, grandparents and an infant daughter,
Christine. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 27,
2004 at Redwood Memorial Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan. A
viewing will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on
Saturday.

Thorup, Sharon Fay Marx
Sharon Fay Marx Thorup "We Love you Mom and Grandma"  Sharon Fay Marx Thorup,
our valiant and courageous companion and mother, passed from this life into
the arms of our Father in Heaven after a battle with cancer on 21 Nov. 2004 at
her home in Taylorsville, Utah.  Sharon was a devoted servant of Jesus Christ
and faithfully served in many callings during her life, including: teaching in
Primary, Young Womens, Gospel Doctrine, as well as Relief Society president,
family research and she served a proselytizing mission with her companion in
the Sacramento, California Mission, 1994-1995. She also filled a
fellowshipping mission in Taylorsville, Utah. Sharon was born 4 Nov. 1929 in
Sterling, Sanpete Co., Utah. Her parents were Edgar Ervin Marx and Edna
Anderson Marx. She had eight brothers and sisters: Carol Neptune; Reva
Wadsworth; Dixie Olson; Ronald Marx; Dolores Yates; Gary Marx; Carma Gunnerson
and Robert Marx. She attended schools in Sterling, Manti and Mt. Pleasant. She
also attended Snow College in Ephraim, Utah and later she graduated "cum
laude" in Elementary Education from the University of Utah, after having nine
children. She married William W. Thorup, 29 February 1952, in the Salt Lake
Temple. Sharon loved her church and had a fervent testimony of Jesus Christ.
In order to support seven of her children who served as missionaries, Sharon
worked for the U.S. Post Office for several years. She spent more than 50
years researching for her ancestors. She loved and supported her eternal
companion and all her children and grandchildren in everything. We will all
miss her fun loving ways and being a champion for the success of everyone.
Sharon is survived by her husband and all nine of her children: Marjan
Fairclough (Craig), Camille Miller (Brent), Karen Thorup, William Thorup
(Mary), Karl Thorup (Tina), Sydnee Peterson (Barry), Sharon Lee (Glenn), Paul
Thorup (Patrice), Bruce Thorup (Adriana). She has 45 grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Riverview Ward
Chapel, 1350 W. 4800 S. in Taylorsville, Utah on Sat., 27 Nov. 2004 at 11:00
a.m. Viewings will be held Friday, 26 Nov. 2004 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at
Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street, and one hour before the funeral
at the Riverview Ward on Saturday. Burial will be at Murray City Cemetery,
5490 S. Vine Street, Murray, Utah.
