Anderson, Audria Lorraine
Audria Lorraine Anderson 1926 ~ 2005 Audria Lorraine Anderson, 78, passed away
March 31, 2005. Born May 3, 1926 in Robin, Idaho to Ruth and St. George
Armstrong. Lorraine lived in Robin for 18 years. She was valedictorian of her
graduating class. She married Charles Wayne Anderson on July 30, 1944 at her
father's ranch in Robin. They moved to Salt Lake City in 1953. She worked at
Kennecott Copper Research center from 1953 until 1970 when she retired.
Lorraine was an avid golfer and enjoyed volunteering at Jeremy Ranch Golf
Course and numerous rest homes. She is survived by her two children, Jeanette
Reynolds (Randy), Jim Anderson (Roberta), two grandchildren Robert Norton
(Becky), Elton Anderson (Brianne) and three great-grandchildren, also a
brother Lloyd Armstrong (LaRue). She was loved by all who knew her. She lived
to make everyone around her happy. We love you and will miss you. God has a
great soul coming home. Graveside services will be held Mon. Apr. 4, 2005, 11
a.m., at the Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 E. 7800 S. (Bengal Blvd.) Salt Lake
City.

Anderson, Helen Bemenderfer
Helen Bemenderfer Anderson 1915 ~ 2005 Helen Anderson, age 89, passed away on
April 1, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Helen was born to Hugh H. and Emma K.
Bemenderfer on July 20, 1915 in Ogden, Utah. She married Wendyl Anderson on
August 20, 1937 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. She was a talented seamstress and
artist. Her love of arts and crafts lead her to open Salt Lake Ceramics, which
she owned and operated for twenty five years. Helen was a faithful member of
the LDS Church and held many various callings. She was a proud member of the
Daughters of the American Revolution. Most of all, Helen loved her family and
will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Helen is survived by her daughter Bonnie A. Holt, son Richard W. Anderson,
sisters; Hugenia Sacco, and Billie Shaw, 14 grandchildren and 25 great
grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Faye Dawson
and brother Robert Bemenderfer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April
4, 2005 at 12:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive where
friends may call from 10:45-11:45 prior to the service. Interment will follow
at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Averett, Candice L.
Candice L. Averett "Candy" Candy L. Averett, loving wife, mother, daughter,
sister, and friend, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in Salt Lake City,
Utah of complications related to pneumonia, at the age of 48. She will truly
be missed by her family and friends who were unprepared for her life to end so
suddenly and without warning. She was born July 10, 1956 in Oakland,
California to Damon B. Edwards, Jr. (deceased) and Charlotte Edwards, of
Springville, Utah. She married Valan L. Averett July 12, 1979 in the Manti LDS
Temple. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, and enjoyed various callings throughout her life; always performing
them with love and with the Spirit; her favorite callings being those involved
with the young women. Candy loved to read, and particularly loved those
authors who incorporated clever humor. She was an excellent homemaker, and
decorated her house with comfort and love for all to enjoy. Candy was a very
loving mother who always wanted the best for her children. After her father
died in September, she faithfully served her mother Charlotte with much love
and kindness. Candy was educated in Ridgecrest, California before moving to
Utah to study nursing at Utah Technical College (now Utah Valley State
College) where she earned a degree in nursing. She worked many years in
Surgery, before retiring to be a full time mother, wife, and housekeeper. She
is survived by her husband and best friend, Valan L. Averett, North Salt Lake;
son and daughter-in-law Deven D. (Autumn) Averett of Springville, Utah; sons:
Kelby V. Averett, Zachary T. Averett (Serving an LDS Mission in Tacoma
Washington, Cambodian Speaking), Alex L. Averett, and daughter, Arika A.
Averett, of North Salt Lake, Utah; mother Charlotte Edwards of Springville,
UT; sisters: Lottie Hart of Hanford, CA; Gwen (Blaine) Wickham of Tacoma, WA;
Penny (Rick) Weiss of Pleasant Grove, UT; Sandy (Steve) Richards of
Springville, UT; Melodie (Steve) Perkins of Renton,WA; Gaye (Steve) Hilliard
of Springville, UT; and brother Barry (Rolayne) Edwards of Highland, UT;
father and mother-in-law Dean and Norma Averett of Hurricane, UT; and her
beloved grandson (Deven and Autumn Averett) Triston D. Averett. Candy was
preceded in death by her father, Damon B. Edwards Jr. The family would like to
give thanks to LDS Hospital for their compassionate help in caring for Candy.
Viewing and funeral services will be held at the Coventry Ward LDS Chapel, 155
Coventry Way, North Salt Lake, UT, on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at 11 a.m.
Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral services. Interment will be in

Blackwell, Dave
Dave Blackwell 1938 ~ 2004 Dave Blackwell died at home on March 31st; he was
66 years old. He was best known for his newspaper, television and radio
coverage of NBA basketball and the Utah Jazz. For twenty years he hosted Jazz
Talk and also anchored KJZZ TV's Weekly Sports Talk Show. Last year, Dave was
inducted into the Utah Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame. Dave was a
consummate interviewer who could get reluctant guests to talk about
themselves, and he was able to fill time on the air by himself with his
stories, quick wit, literary references, and incisive criticism. His
one-liners became legendary, and he never failed in making people laugh. He
also devoted his considerable talents to numerous charities, and served for
years as the master of ceremonies for the Muscular Dystrophy Association
telethons. Dave moved to Salt Lake City in 1973 to become the sports director
for KTVX Channel 4. While at that station he also hosted Blackwell's People,
which allowed him to move from the sports arena to interview authors,
politicians, musicians, and celebrities of local and national renown. From
KTVX he became a sports writer for the Deseret News where he began his
coverage of the Jazz. His 45-year broadcasting career began at WMTV in
Madison, WI; he was the sports director at KMTV in Omaha, NE, before coming to
Salt Lake City. Dave was born in Milwaukee, WI, on September 26, 1938. He grew
up in Illinois, Ohio, and Wisconsin, before attending the University of
Wisconsin in Madison. At the university he played baseball and had a one-bout
intercollegiate boxing career. He was an avid reader and a lover of jazz
music. He saw himself as an accomplished fisherman, and he took great personal
delight in being a member of the Screen Actors Guild. An avid pet lover, he
often rescued animals from the pound and made them part of the family. Dave
was a terrific father who infused his household with humor. He is survived by
two children, David (San Francisco) and Julie (Seattle), and three
grandchildren. His brother, Phil, lives in Chicago. They all miss him dearly,
and his absence will leave a void in each of their lives. In lieu of flowers,
the family requests that any donations be made to the Utah Chapter of the
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (www.cff.org). A memorial service will be held in
early May.

Christopherson, Michael John
Michael John Christopherson 1977 ~ 2005 FARMINGTON - Michael John
Christopherson, age 27, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2005 in a tragic
boating accident at Lake Havasu. He was born July 31, 1977 in Bountiful, Utah,
the son of Paul and Susan Robison Christopherson. Michael was a member of The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He graduated from Viewmont High
School in 1996. He worked as a mechinic for Otis Elevator and loved his job.
Michael loved his family and friends. He loved boating, hunting, 4-wheeling,
fishing and teasing his family and friends. He was very accepting of everyone.
Micheal loved many things, but most of all, he loved his daughter Lexi.
Survived by his loving daughter Alexis Rea and her mother Kristin, loving
parents; two brothers, Brian (Andrea), and Cory, one brother-in-law, Timothy
Boulton; one niece Allie; grandparents, Howard and Betty Robison, Melvin and
Pat Christopherson; and many cousins, aunts and uncles. He is preceded in
death by Uncle Alan Christopherson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am
Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at the Steed Creek LDS Stake Center, 347 S. 200 W.
Farmington. Friends may call Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at Russon
Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Tuesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m.
at the church prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made
at Mountain America Credit Union. As Mike would always say to us, we now say
to him: "Easy" Mike..We love you and always will.

Connary, Mary Edgard Reid
Mary Edgard Reid Connary 1914 ~ 2005 Mary passed away peaceably on March 31,
2005. She died at home in the care of her beloved daughter, Camilla. She was
born on July 5, 1914 to John Ernest Reid and Mary Alice Hazen Reid. Mary was
proud to be in the last graduating class of LDS College in 1931. She married
her sweetheart, Glen L. Connary, in the Salt Lake Temple, on June 11, 1936 and
has treasured her Temple Recommend ever since. She was born, lived and died in
Rose Park, 29th Ward. She held numerous church positions, including president
of the Relief Society, the MIA and the Primary. Mary was "Mrs. Clean" and had
tremendous organizational skills. She was a great seamstress and worked at
Pioneer Furniture for thirty years. Her greatest "Treasures" were her family,
where she was loved as "Grandma" by her nephews and nieces as well as her own
grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Glen and a
son-in-law, Anthony M. Mora. She is survived by her son, G. LeVerle Connary
(Julia) and her daughter Camilla Bishop (Grant). She was blessed to know, love
and care for six grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-
great-grandchild. Mary left her family with the greatest of all gifts - the
gift of "Love". Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at
11:00 a.m. in the Riverside 29th Ward, 1100 W. 500 N., Salt Lake City. Friends

Lexie Fern Teeples Nichols Dustin 1909 ~ 2005 LOGAN - Lexie Fern Justin, 95,
passed away Saturday, March 26, 2005, at the home of her daughter, Brenda
Armstrong. She was born December 30, 1909 in Goshen, Idaho to Ransferd Henry
and Lodisa Elizabeth (Killian) Teeples. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m.
Monday, April 4, 2005 at the City Creek Ward, 655 So. Grant Ave, Pocatello,
ID, with Bishop Mark Porter from the Logan Northwood Ward conducting. The
viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2005, at Colonial Funeral
Home, 2005 So. 4th Ave, Pocatello and from 12-12:45 p.m. prior to the service
at the church Monday. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Dutson, Floyd Eddy
Floyd Eddy Dutson "Ed" LYNNDYL - Floyd Eddy "Ed" Dutson 79 died April 2, 2005
in Delta, UT. He was born May 24, 1925 in Oak City, UT to John Q. and Eva
Anderson Dutson. His early years were spent at Taylor's Flat (between Oak City
and Lynndyl) on the farm. The rest of his life he lived in Lynndyl. He was a
World War II Veteran and participated in the liberating of Paris and was
awarded two purple hearts. On Oct. 15, 1947 he married Beverly Rasmussen in
the Salt Lake Temple. A young Elder Spencer W. Kimball officiated. Together
they had nine children. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for over 40
years retiring in 1987. He was an active member of the LDS Church and was
involved in scouting serving mainly as a Scout Master for over 40 years and
received many scouting awards including 2nd Miler and the Silver Beaver Award.
He helped countless boys earn their Eagle Scout rank. Helped advance scouting
in the Deseret District. In his later years he served a mission in the Iowa
Des Moines Mission with his eternal companion. He is survived by his wife,
Beverly; children, Arlene (Scott) Allen, Lynndyl, UT; Bill (Julie), Lynndyl,
UT; David (Vickie), Cedar City, UT; Floyd (Esther), San Diego, CA; Gary
(MarySue), Lynndyl, UT; Janine, Nephi,UT; Marsha (Steve) Davidson, Steamboat
Springs, CO; Becky (Lance) Buttars, Herriman, UT; 26 grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; brothers, Mel (Lois, Deceased); Elwin (Lois); Larry
(Colleen); sister, Lillian (Digby) Hulse many nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by daughter, Frances; brothers, Ballard "BJ"; LaVar;
Russell; sisters, Deola and Betty. Funeral services will be held Friday April
8, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in the Leamington LDS Chapel, Leamington, UT. A viewing
will be held Thursday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and prior to services from
11:30 to 12:30 at the church. Interment in the Oak City Cemetery under the
direction of Rasmussen Mortuary.

Egan M.D., Merritt Hatch
Merritt Hatch Egan, M.D. 1918 - 2005 Adieu, valiant physician! Exemplary
father On Thursday, March 31, 2005, at age 86, Merritt Hatch Egan, M.D., died
at home among family and friends after heroically enduring the afflictions of
advanced age. He was the son of Charles Merritt Egan and Clara Rebecca Hatch,
the great-grandson of frontiersman and pony-express leader, Major Howard Egan,
and husband to Marcia Mae White, who attended to him lovingly during his
illness. Dr. Egan grew up in Woods Cross with a worthy respect for the work
ethic. Toiling in the strawberry fields from the age of six, he cultivated the
love of growing things. At age16, he graduated from East High School and
matriculated at the University of Utah. In 1938, he interrupted his studies to
fulfill an LDS mission to the Eastern States. On his return, he courted his
"Bible Girl," Marcia White, and they married in the Salt Lake Temple in June
1941. Throughout their productive and loving marriage he treated his Marcia
with the same respect and devotion he witnessed in his home of origin. Life
became more challenging during World War II in Philadelphia where medical
school demanded his attention. Later, although scarcely established as a
pediatrician in Salt Lake City, he served during the Korean War as a captain
in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps. Together, he and Marcia reared 11
children, teaching each one to venture forth. Together, they worshipped God.
Together, they played tennis and traveled the world. Together, they strolled
the lanes of life. Board certified in three medical specialties (pediatrics,
adult psychiatry, and child psychiatry), Dr. Egan cared for children and
trained medical students to pursue their careers competently and
compassionately. He also instilled in each of his children a sense of honor
that comes from a life of hard work and devotion to God. He served as Medical
Staff President of Primary Children's Medical Center, on the faculty of
Pediatrics and Psychiatry, University of Utah School of Medicine, Medical
Director, Charter Summit Hospital, consultant to the Osler Institute, and
advisor to the LDS Church Mission Training Center. Dr. Egan's professional
career spanned circa 58 years; he worked until December 2004. As a member of
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Merritt served faithfully as
a missionary (Eastern States), scoutmaster, home teacher, Sunday-school
teacher, bishop (Grandview Ward), counselor to two stake presidents (Wilford
Stake), and advisor to the LDS Missionary Department. Reserved by nature,
Merritt was pleased to be accompanied by his spirited and creative wife,
Marcia. His devotion to her modeled to his children and others a generous and
affectionate demeanor. Seven sons and four daughters valiantly assisted their
mother during his illness. In 1995, Dr. Egan wrote and published Pursue What
Matters Most, which is both a summation of his career as a physician and a
father's testament on how best to live the life he loved. The book, intended
as a gift to his children and grandchildren, continues to enrich their lives
as a legacy of what he stood for-life-long learning, spiritual insight, and
making a difference in a troubled, yet glorious world. He is survived by his
wife Marcia, seven sons, Winston (Linda), Wayne (Kathryn), Robin (Mary),
Richard (Sue), Dwight (Leslie), Michael (Mary), Talmage (Julie), four
daughters, Kathleen Voorhees (Hugh), Marsha Dott Ralphs (Lenny), Heather Hyde
(Rod), Natalie Gochnour (Chris), 67 grandchildren, and 52 great grandchildren
with six more announced. Merritt's departure means a change of address where
he is busily engaged even as we meet to celebrate his life. Where he now
resides, his parents and siblings-Mary Ellen Ray, Stewart, Delbert and
Carl-acquaint him with his new surroundings. His interpretation of life gives
us renewed energy to become exemplary Latter-day Saints, for it is written
"Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man,
the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." The poet avers
"Death be not proud, though some have called thee Mighty and dreadful, for
thou art not so; For those whom thou think'st, thou dost overthrow, Die not."
(1610, John Donne) Indeed, John the Apostle reaffirms "this is life eternal,
that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast
sent." Services for Dr. Egan will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at 12:00 noon
at the Wilford Stake Center, 3080 South 1765 East. Friends may call Monday
evening, April 4, between six and eight at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 So.
Highland Drive, and one hour prior to the service. Interment, Wasatch Lawn.

Egley, Joseph Christian
Joseph Christian Egley "Revised Copy" Joseph Christian Egley, 86, passed away,
Hurricane Utah, March 30, 2005. Joe was born on December 19, 1918 in Mink
Creek Idaho to George Fredrick Egley and Mary A. Hanson. He was the 3rd child
of seven. He lived in Mink Creek until he was called on an LDS mission to the
Western States Mission. After returning, he enlisted in the Air Force and
became a flight engineer on B-17's. He flew 25 successful missions in Europe
during World War II. He married Gay Sullivan and together they spent the
majority of their life in Casper, Wyoming operating gas stations and growing
wheat. He was successful in growing wheat in an area where most people didn't
believe that it could be done. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter
and fisherman. Joe also loved to fly airplanes. He was a hard worker and
friendly to everyone. He is survived by his wife Gay, three children; Joseph
Egley Jr.(Frosty), Kirk McFarland (Michelle), Traci Fieldsted (Tony) and 16
Grandchildren and one Great-Grandchild. He was preceded in death by one
daughter Debi Lim, (John). Funeral services will be held Monday April 4, 2005,
12 Noon at the Hurricane Stake Center. (677 South 700 West) A Visitation will
be held two hours prior to services. Interment will be in the Hurricane
Cemetery.

Erickson, Lila Ruth
Lila Ruth Erickson "Aunt Lila" Lila Ruth Erickson, 89, our loving sister and
aunt, passed away April 1, 2005. Lila was born July 28, 1915, in Salt Lake
City to Charley A. and Bertha Westlund Erickson. She loved to do handiwork and
travel, and made friends wherever she went. Lila still has a lifetime pass to
Disneyland. Lila is survived by her sister, Mildred Hooton, sister-in-laws,
June Erickson and Flora Erickson, and 13 nieces and nephews. She is preceded
in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister. Funeral services will
be held Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760
So. State. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the services. Interment,
Murray City Cemetery. The family would like to thank the care-givers of
Highland Care Center and St. Joseph's Villa for their years of tender care.

Ernstsen, Ila May Hermansen
Ila May Hermansen Ernstsen 1932 ~ 2005 Ila May Hermansen Ernstsen, age 73,
Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2005. Ila was born on
February 6, 1932 to Jorgen P. and May Fern Squire Hermansen. On January 7,
1951 she married Terral H Ernstsen, later divorced. Ila was very artistic,
creative and loved to work on crafts. Ila was a faithful member of The Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and had a strong testimony of her
Savior. Ila was a very positive and compassionate person. She loved spending
time with her family. Ila is survived by her children, Terry (Sue), Elizabeth,
and Stan Ernstsen; 16 grandchildren; five great-grand-children; three
brothers, Ray, Ned, Dean; two sisters, Vadna, Donna. Funeral services for Ila
will be held on Thursday April 7, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stratford East
Ward, 2605 South 1500 East. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6:00
p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and again on
Thursday morning at the church from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the

Garcia, Martin
Martin Garcia 1929 ~ 2005 Martin Rodriguez Garcia, of Salt Lake City, UT.
passed away on 4/1/05 surrounded by his family and friends. Marty was born Nov
12, 1929 in Cornish, Utah, and the youngest of 13 children to Thomasa and
Ufracio Garcia. He graduated from West High School where he was a 1st team
All-State football player. He served as a Special Services athlete in the army
for two years and served in Korea. He returned to Salt Lake where he assisted
with West High's football program. He was hired by the University of Monterrey
in Monterrey, Mexico, where as Head Football Coach, he had a conference
winning program for four of his five years. He also coached soccer for two
years. He returned to Salt Lake where he coached and played in several sports.
He was an assistant golf pro at Glendale Golf Course for 25 years. Marty
worked for Thomas Electric and Mountain Fuel Supply where he retired in 1993.
Marty met and fell in love with Mary Lou Hinojosa while working at the
University of Monterrey. They returned to Salt Lake where they married and
were blessed with a daughter, Sandra. His passions in life were his family,
his friends, coaching his teams, playing and teaching golf, winning and losing
the same two bucks from "the guys." Marty was a lifelong member of the
Catholic faith. Marty was a personable and generous man. He had many friends
who will miss his warmth and graciousness. Even in times of adversity, he
always had a smile and a kind word. He never gave up on anything; and was
always positive. As a father, friend and coach he was patient, nurturing and
enthusiastic. Marty was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou, and several
siblings. He is survived by his "mija" Sandra Hinojosa Garcia; his sister
Connie; brothers Ray, Albert and Tino. A memorial Mass and celebration of his
life will be held on Tuesday 4/5/05 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic
Church., 3015 E. Creek Rd, Sandy, UT. At Marty's request please wear only
cheerful colors. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Burn
Camp sponsored by the Intermountain Burn Center at University of Utah

Hancock, Don James
Don James Hancock 1953 ~ 2005 Don James Hancock, age 51, returned to his
Heavenly Father on March 31, 2005 in his home surrounded by loving family
after a courageous battle with liver disease, cancer and diabetes. Don was
born on August 26, 1953 in Salt Lake City, Utah to JB Hancock and Arlie (Hall)
Hancock. He was raised and schooled in Bountiful, UT. He volunteered to serve
his country in the U.S. Army 1975-79. He married and divorced during this
time, fathering one beautiful daughter, Stefani. Don had leadership positions
in various occupations and always strove to do his best for those for whom he
worked. He enjoyed jobs where he worked with wood products or computerized
anything. He had a great passion for learning the various aspects of computer
programming and repair of them. He was most avid about golfing and loved to
play as often as possible. For his 40th birthday he received his first flying
lesson and went on to obtain his private pilot's license. He married the love
of his life Kathie L. Roach on June 10, 1986. Their marriage was later
solemnized in the Bountiful LDS temple. He was active in the LDS church
especially later in life, fully dedicated to the principles and teachings of
the gospel serving in the Sunday school and High Priest Quorum. We will miss
his humor, love of life, integrity, strength and his deep and abiding loyalty.
He is preceded in death by his father; JB Hancock, brother; Brent Hancock,
nephew Joel Green and brother-in-law Smokey Warren. He is survived by his wife
Kathie, mother Arlie Hancock, son Dennis (Ashley) Roach, granddaughter Natalie
Roach, sisters Kathleen (Rod) Green, Carla (Doug) Layne, Sandy Warren, sister
in law Diane Hancock, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Funeral services will
be held April 6, 2005 at 12 p.m. at the Cottonwood 4th Ward, 5565 Neighbor
lane (1610 East). A viewing service will be held April 5, 2005 at Larkin
Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City from 6 to 8 p.m. Also one hour
prior to the funeral services at the Cottonwood 4th Ward. Interment will be in
the Lakeview Memorial Cemetery, 1640 East Lakeview Drive, Bountiful. A trust
fund has been set up in memory of Don Hancock and donations may be made in

Hedrick Sr., Charles Lowell
Charles Lowell Hedrick, Sr. 1918 ~ 2005 Charles Lowell Hedrick, Sr., age 86,
passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Lowell was
born July 12, 1918, Bicknell, Indiana, son of William Franklin Hedrick and
Lorene Asbell Hedrick. He graduated from Bicknell High School May 6, 1936. He
married Wilma Bernice Weaver November 9, 1938 in Bicknell, Indiana. Their
marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple August 12, 1954.
Lowell was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
holding many positions: Elder's Quorum President; District Mission Leader;
Stake High Council; Bishop; High Priest Group Leader; Ordinance Worker and
Supervisor at the Jordan River LDS Temple. He was a faithful servant of his
Heavenly Father. He served his country in the United States Navy during World
War II, serving in the South Pacific arena. Lowell worked in Indianapolis,
Indiana in the grocery business; as a security guard for RCA; as a manager for
New York Life Insurance & Mutual of New York Insurance companies; retiring in
1987. He and his wife moved to Sandy, Utah in May of 1990 to be near their
children. He was a devoted husband and father. Survived by wife, Bernice; two
sons, Charles Lowell Jr. (Patricia Vee Garrett) of Salt Lake City; Brice Lee
(Susan Eileen Pickering) of St. George, Utah; two daughters, Carolyn Sue
(Melvin Hair Moon) of Salt Lake City; Judith Kay (Jack Allen Braithwaite) of
Salt Lake City, Utah; five grandsons and five granddaughters; six
great-grandsons and nine great-granddaughters; two great-great-granddaughters;
three sisters, Billie Asbell (Basil David Nolan) of Sellersburg, Indiana;
Helen Lucille Smith of Wildwood, Illinois; Sandra Ruth (David Allen) of
Vincennes, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents,
one brother, Dwight Donald Hedrick and one sister, Doris Genevieve Hedrick and
brother-in-law, Curtis Bruce Smith. In lieu of flowers the family suggests
donations be made to your favorite charity. Funeral services will be held
Monday, April 4, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State

Heiner, Claude Lindsay
Claude Lindsay Heiner "Papa" Claude Lindsay Heiner, beloved husband, dad,
grandfather, uncle and friend passed away April 1, 2005, from complications
following heart surgery. Claude was born April 17, 1927 in Salt Lake City,
Utah to Claude P. and Lona Lindsay Heiner. In his youth he attended East High
School and the University of Utah. He married Julia LaVon Youngberg, March 20,
1950. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They
were the parents of four children. Claude's greatest joy was spending time
with his family. Claude was successful in the mining industry for many years.
He owned, managed and operated coal mines in Carbon County and Emery County,
Utah and Colorado. Claude loved the outdoors and enjoyed boating, camping,
skiing, and water skiing. Lake Powell was his favorite place on earth. He also
loved vacationing in Hawaii. He was an avid Ute fan. Claude was known for his
sense of humor, kindness and generosity that benefited many loved ones lives.
He was looking forward to the birth of his first great-grandchild in May.
Claude faced physical challenges with dignity, strength, and courage his
entire life. He was an inspiration to everyone who had the privilege of
knowing him. Claude is survived by his wife, Julia Youngberg, his children,
Denise (Craig) Metcalf, Sue Anne Heiner, Sandra (George) Ott, and Mark
(Annette) Heiner. He is also survived by six grandchildren and many loved ones
who regarded him as their "papa". He is also survived by his aunt Ethelyn
(Dolly) Ward of Long Beach, California, brother-in-law Dr. Raymond (Pat)
Youngberg, Salem, Oregon, and sister-in-law, Neoma (Cecil) Tittle, Carmichael,
Calif. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, two brothers, one
sister and his beloved grandmother Lindsay. Funeral services will be held
Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South
State, Murray, where friends may visit Monday evening April 4, 2005 from 6-8
p.m. and one hour prior to the service. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Henrie, Joseph Ward
Joseph Ward Henrie 1922 ~ 2005 Joseph Ward Henrie, age 82, loving husband,
father, grandfather and friend, passed away April 1, 2005 at Hospice
CareSource in Salt Lake City. Joe was born in Cannonville, Utah to Marion and
Aretmesia Cutler Henrie on June 13, 1922. He married Geraldine Anderson on
February 28, 1942 in the Manti Temple. He served in the military during World
War II as a Seaman Guard. Very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, Joe built 15 LDS chapels in Utah and across the United
States. Joe also built post offices, lifeguard houses, buildings in cast
stone, and he erected the Mormon Battallion monument in San Diego, California.
He constructed many homes, schools, office buildings, and remodeled the St.
George Opera House. Joe is survived by his wife, Geraldine, three sons: Don
(Jewell), Brent, and Gaylen (Maureen), and five daughters: Ilene (Dan) Maurer,
Marie (Danny) Wariner, Vickie (Jim) Crawford, Janet (Kevin) Christensen, and
Patty (Roger) Bangerter. He and Geraldine have 37 grandchildren and 52
great-grandchildren. Viewing will be Wednesday, April 6, 2005 9:00 to 10:15
a.m. at LDS Chapel located at 3671 S 4180 W. West Valley City. Funeral
services will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Holman, Ina
Ina Holman 1914 ~ 2005 Ina Holman was born June 14, 1914 in Fountain Green,
Utah to George Cook and Edith Justesen Cook. Ina died March 31, 2005. She
graduated from Moroni High School and attended a business school in Salt Lake
City. Ina and her husband, John Holman were sealed in the Manti Temple and had
five children. They moved from Utah to Montrose, Colorado where they became
involved in the sheep business. She belonged to the Western Slope Woolgrowers
Auxiliary and was involved with the "Make It Yourself With Wool" program when
it was first introduced. She also belonged to the Utah Daughters of the
Pioneers. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
and served in many positions, including being President of both the Relief
Society and the Primary. She is survived by four children: Kathy Robinson
(Robert) of Midway, Utah; Jenny Holman of American Fork, Utah; Phyllis Hall
(Douglas) of Alpine; and Robert Holman (Cheryl) of Alamosa, Colorado. A
daughter, Marian Spencer (Richard) preceded her in death. She is also survived
by two brothers: Booth Cook of Fountain Green, Utah and Morris Cook of Moroni,
Utah. She has 25 grandchildren and 69 great-grandchildren. Services will be
held for her at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street in Orem on
Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at 12:45 p.m. A viewing will be held Monday evening
from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and also Tuesday from 12 to 12:30 p.m. both at the

Carolyn (Carrie) Jacobsen 1943 ~ 2005 Carolyn (Carrie) Jean Davenport Jacobsen
passed away April 1, 2005. She was born July 22, 1943 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to
Floyd and Clara Davenport. Carolyn graduated from South High School and
attended the University of Utah in Salt Lake City where she graduated with
honors in Elementary Education. She taught school in Utah and in Oregon. On
October 1, 1970, she married Mark Kay Jacobsen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Together they had three wonderful children. Carolyn shared her talents in many
positions in the LDS Church as well as with her family and friends. Her love
of family, learning, and music has blessed us all. Preceded in death by her
parents, husband and one brother, she is survived by her children Roger
(Nouhack), Christian, and Lisa Jacobsen, and by her two grandchildren;
Jonathan and Zachary. Funeral services will be held at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary,
3401 Highland Drive on Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with viewing at
1:00 p.m.

Jenson, Bernice
Bernice Jenson 1922 ~ 2005 Esther Bernice Jenson passed away peacefully at The
Stratford in Draper, Utah, her home since Nov of 2002. She was born on August
17, 1922 in West Jordan, Utah to Victoria and Looe Robinson. She married
Ernest Leon Jenson on August 24, 1940. They made their home on a one acre lot
in Sandy where Bernice lived for 62 years. In November of 2002, she moved to
The Stratford Assisted Living for patients with Alzheimer's. Bernice was known
for being a hard worker and a very active person. She will be missed by
neighbors and friends that she met while working in her yard and walking.
Bernice was happiest working in her yard. She had beautiful flowers,
especially her lilies that decorated many weddings. She took very long walks
everyday. She volunteered at Mid-Valley Elementary and spent a lot of time
teaching children to read and helping with the school lunch program. Bernice
loved children, especially her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bernice was an active member of the LDS Church and served a Stake LDS Mission.
She is survived by her daughters, Dixie (Hartley) Fredrickson, Diane (Robert)
Brown, and Nancy (Tom) Faircloth; seven grandchildren and many great
grandchildren; sisters, Faye Bath and Margaret Godnick. Preceded in death by
her husband, Leon Jenson; sisters, Virginia Swensen, Phyllis Page, Beverly
Carter;and brothers, Lavell Robinson and Blaine Robinson. The family wishes to
thank The Draper Stratford staff, which has been her extended family and
provided loving care with the help of Care Source Hospice. The family extends
special thanks to her sisters, Faye and Margaret, who have been angels by her
side for the past few years. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 4,
2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Goff Mortuary 8090 So. State where friends may call

away on March 30, 2005 in Salt Lake City. He was born April 17, 1972 in Salt
Lake City to Margie Ruth and Stephen Reed Johnson. . Bradley is survived by
his parents, Stephen Reed and Kathy Johnson and Margie Ruth and Elroy Barlow;

Boyd and Ben (Jamie) Johnson; grandfather, Reed T. Johnson and 13 nieces and

Johnson, Don Henning
Don Henning Johnson 1923 ~ 2005 Don Henning Johnson, beloved husband, father,
grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on April 2, 2005
at the LDS Hospital following heart surgery. He was born April 22, 1923 in
Grantsville, Utah to Charles E. and Ellen G. Johnson. He was the youngest of
nine children. Don graduated from Grantsville High School and Henager Business
College where he served as Student Body President. He was a proud veteran of
World War II, serving his country in India. He married the love of his life,
Jeanine Jefferies on February 26, 1947. Their marriage was later solemnized in
the Salt Lake Temple. Don retired from Tooele Army Depot after a long and
successful career in the Personnel Department. He later enjoyed working at the
Lake Point Salt Company. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, he served faithfully in many callings including Bishop,
Stake President and Patriarch. He enjoyed music, gardening, sports, and
playing trumpet in bands with his lifelong friends. He loved his family,
church, Swedish heritage, country and friends. His life was a perfect example
of love, service and dedication to his family, church and country. He was
adored by his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his
wit and charm. Survived by his loving wife of 58 years and three children,
Connie (Larry) Palmer of Orem, Karen (Tim) Parks and Eric (Annette) Johnson of
Grantsville; 11 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He is survived
by his sister Norma England and brother Joe Johnson. He was preceded in death
by a son, Larry Don; parents, sisters; Edla, Bessie, Mary, Virginia, Della and
brother Tennyson. Friends may call at the Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main
Street, Tooele, Monday, April 4 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday 11:30-12:30

Wayne C. Johnston 1926 ~ 2005 Wayne C. Johnston passed away in his sleep the
morning of March 31, 2005. He was born Feb. 21, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah,
the son of Wayne C. and Betsy Dena Prescott Johnston. Married Audrey Ann
Peterson in Salt Lake City on June 6, 1947. Preceded in death by Audrey on
Feb. 19, 1983. Married Mona L. Gleave on Sept. 29, 1989. Veteran of World War
II with the U.S. Navy. Wayne was employed as a superintendent at Chicago
Bridge and Iron Company for 42 years in Salt Lake City and around the world.
Wayne was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. Survived by Mona; sister, Joyce
Barnes; children; Jim and (Vicki), Tom and (Teri), Bob, and Susan; also
grandchildren; Lauri, Bridget, Jason, Jeremiah, Eric, and Ryan;
great-grandchildren; Jordan, Justina, Steven, Timothy and Andrew; Mona's
children, Randy, Liz, Kay, Tom and grandchildren. Preceded in death by his
parents, daughter Judy, and granddaughter Amy. A Funeral Mass will be
celebrated Tuesday, April 5th, 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 450

Jorgensen, Roger G.
Roger G. Jorgensen 1925 ~ 2005 This world lost a heaven-sent man, but heaven
is now blessed with his wonderful spirit. Roger was given to us June 15, 1925
and taken back March 31, 2005. Roger's life was full and we are comforted by
our many wonderful memories of our adventures together, of his childhood
antics, of our many camping and fishing trips, or just sitting on his lap
cuddling. Roger's life was his family. His grandchildren were his pride and
joy. After spending time with his family, Roger loved his volunteer work and
visiting with his friends at the Kearns Senior Center. Roger married his
childhood sweetheart, Barbara Jean McCaffery, on November 21, 1944 in Manti,
Utah while on leave from the Army. He then left to proudly serve his country
in the European Theater during World War II. Roger is survived by his wife,
Barbara; sons, David (Sharen) and Dennis; daughter, Jodi (Todd) Murphy;
brothers, Bud (Ila), Morris (Theone), Lamar (Marilyn), Ray (Betty), and Gary
(June); sisters, Beverly Albreicht, Dorothy Jorgensen, and Carol Mortensen;
sister-in-law, Babs Jorgensen; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren
and oodles of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents,
Lyman and Emma Jorgensen; brother, Kent and sisters, Leda and baby Ruth. The
family wants to give a special thanks to the ICU team at the Cottonwood
Hospital who worked so diligently to help Roger and allowed him to go with

Kelsey, R. Brent
R. Brent Kelsey 1941 ~ 2005 Ruel Brent Kelsey, died peacefully at home, March
29, 2005 in Centerville, Utah. Brent was born September 9, 1941 to Ruel
Woolley Kelsey and Kathryn Mary Jorgensen in Salt Lake City. Brent graduated
from East High School in 1959 and attended the University of Utah. In the
early 60's he worked for Hercules on the Polaris missile. For over 20 years he
worked in the trucking industry, and later as a self employed property
manager. Loving husband of Sally Saecker Livingston, and devoted father of
Brent D. Kelsey and Todd L. Kelsey, by former wife, Marilyn Kesler. Brent's
happiest times were when he and Sally were either at their cabin, fishing,
traveling, barbecuing, gardening, or on the golf course. He loved telling a
good story. Brent also held an especially close bond with his grandkids, who
called him "silly grandpa." A quintessential handyman, who loved to tinker and
fix things, Brent was always willing to lend a hand to others. His strength,
determination, quick wit and special twinkle in his eyes will always be a
comfort to his family. He is survived by wife, Sally; mother, Kathryn; sons,
Brent (Jennifer) and Todd (Lauren); grandchildren, Samantha and Cameron. Also
survived by siblings: Stephen (Justine) Kelsey, Renee (Alan) Fernelius,
Patricia (Jan) Brady, Scott (Connie) Kelsey, Colleen (Doug) Carroll, and Kevin
(Martha) Kelsey, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father.

Loveless, Dr. Pauline
Dr. Pauline Loveless 1921 ~ 2005 Pauline Loveless was born Nov. 12, 1921 in
Payson, Utah, to Martin Hill and Theressa (Richardson) Loveless, and she
passed away March 17, 2005 in Huntsville, Texas. She enjoyed a rich career as
a teacher, University administrator and counselor to students. She received
her bachelor's degree in sociology from Weber State University and her
doctoral degree in sociology from Weber State University and her doctoral
degree in social work from the University of Utah. At Sam Houston State
University, she was a professor in the College of Criminal Justice from 1974
to 1991. She also served as assistant dean of undergraduate studies from 1982
until she retired in 1991. Pauline's academic influence also extended beyond
the confines of Walker County and the state of Texas, evidenced by her years
of membership in and service to the Southwestern Association of Criminal
Justice Educators, which included a term as president of the organization.
Pauline's true legacy, however will endure in the lives of her students, whom
she served with patience, dedication and love and in her devotion to The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. To students, church members and
all others in need, her door was always open. She was a master teacher and
lived a life of service. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Dr.
Loveless is survived by three sisters, Afton L. Smith, Myrle L. Clark and
Patricia Maxine Krueger, all of Salt Lake City, Utah and many nieces, nephews,
friends and colleagues. Services will be held at 11 a.m. April 5, 2005 at the
Walker Mortuary in Payson, Utah. Interment at the Payson, Utah City Cemetery.

Miner, Wallace Dean
Wallace Dean Miner 1930~2005 Our dear husband, father and grandfather, Wallace
D. Miner returned to his Heavenly Father on April 1, 2005, at the age of 75,
due to complications from diabetes and pneumonia. Wally was born on March 27,
1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lawrence Adams and Sarah Loretta Ellertson
Miner. He graduated from East High School and the University of Utah. He
married Marian Mower on March 14, 1952, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, for time
and all eternity, officiated by Joseph Fielding Smith. He was an active member
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a strong testimony
of the gospel and his Savior Jesus Christ. He served faithfully in many
callings in the Canyon Rim 4th Ward. Dad loved spending time with his five
children and being a grandpa to eight granddaughters. He had a great sense of
humor and loved basketball and football. He was an avid reader and loved
history. Wally is survived by his loving wife, Marian; children, Rick Miner,
Salt Lake City, Scott (Nancy) Miner, MT, Matthew (Melanie) Miner, HI, Camille
(Breck) Salmond, WVC, and Celeste Wesemann, WVC; 8 granddaughters, Heidi,
Mallory, Carissa, Melissa, Maddie, Lydia, Monique, and Andrea; brothers,
Aurelius (Bud), L. John and Richard Miner; and a large extended family. He was
preceded in death by his parents, sisters Fay Wrathall, Lucille Johnson;
brother George C. Miner. Funeral services for Wally will be held on Wednesday
April 6, 2005 at 12:00 Noon at the Canyon Rim 4th Ward, 3051 South 2900 East.
Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the
Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East and on Wednesday morning at the church
from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment: Wasatch Lawn

Mitchell, Barbara "Bobbie"
Barbara "Bobbie" Mitchell 1925 ~ 2005 Barbara "Bobbie" Mitchell, 79, returned
peacefully to her family on Tuesday March 29, 2005. She was born April 3, 1925
to John Elmer Mitchell, and Jane Elizabeth Millard in Bingham Canyon, Utah.
She had four loving sons. She was an avid member of the Daughters of the Utah
Pioneers, a long time employee of Abbott Laboratories Inc. She enjoyed
traveling, being on the back of a motorcycle, going to the Temple, and
spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her
parents and two sons. Bobbie is survived by her brother Jack, two sons, many
grandchildren nieces and nephews. Her spunky spirit and bright smile will be
missed. Graveside services will be held Monday, April 4, 2005 at 12 noon in
the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Ave. and "N" Street. Friends may call
10-11:30 a.m. prior at Russon Brothers Salt Lake Mortuary, 255 South 200 East.

Morgan, Brian Wayne
Brian Wayne Morgan 1963 ~ 2005 Our loving son, brother, and friend returned to
our Heavenly Father unexpectedly on March 29, 2005. He loved our Heavenly
Father and enjoyed serving in the temple where he worked as a veil worker
Friday and Saturday evenings. Brian was a man of God. He served a full time
LDS mission to Taiwan and was called as a stake missionary to the
Chinese-speaking people in the Boston area. Brian loved the Chinese people; he
attended the Salt Lake University 39th (Chinese) Ward. Brian was born on March
21, 1963 in Seattle, Washington. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed
being with people. Brian was a scholar; he accomplished a great deal during
his life. At a young age of 13 he received his Eagle Scout award. Brian
graduated from Murray High School in 1981, and continued on to MIT where he
received a bachelor's degree in economics and a Masters of Business
Administration. A few years later he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from
UC Berkeley. He was loved by his parents Gary and Rosemary Morgan, his
brothers, sisters, and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Brian
shared a special bond with his brother Chad Henrichsen. The two were
practically inseparable. Chad loved and admired his older brother and was
loved by him. Brian will be dearly missed by all. Funeral services will be
held on Monday, April 4th at 11:00 a.m. at the Brownstone Chapel, 6410 South
725 East, Murray. A viewing will be held Sunday, April 3rd at the
Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street in Murray from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m.,
and at the Brownstone Chapel one hour prior to the funeral. Interment Murray
City Cemetery.

Nemelka, Lillie Maurer
Lillie Maurer Nemelka "Our Dear Aunt Lill" Lillie Maurer Nemelka, age 95,
passed away April 1, 2005. She was born January 22, 1910, in Providence, Utah,
the youngest daughter of Emil and Elise Bachofen Maurer. Married Walter J.
Nemelka on January 1, 1949, in Las Vegas, NV. Later solemnized in the Salt
Lake LDS Temple. Lillie was beautiful in countenance and manner, always
cheerful, kind and witty. She enjoyed shopping well into her 90's and would
walk a block to catch the bus downtown. She would compete in the annual Ensign
3rd Ward walking race and came in 1st place in the women's division at age 70.
She loved animals, especially her bird Skippy, and her cats Bentley, Tippy and
Pepper. She was dearly loved by her numerous nieces and nephews, their
children and her friends and neighbors. She is survived by her stepson John W.
Nemelka, Santa Monica, CA; nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law. Preceded
in death by husband; parents; three brothers and four sisters. Graveside
services will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2005, 11:45 a.m. at the Salt Lake City
Cemetery, 4th Avenue & 'N' Street. Friends may visit from 11-11:30 a.m. at
Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, prior to the service.

Newsome, William David
William David Newsome 1919 ~ 2005 BOUNTIFUL - Surrounded by three generations
of his loving family, William David Newsome (Bill) drew his last breath on
Friday, April 1, 2005. The son of William Angus and Vivian Hendrickson
Newsome, he was born at home in Salt Lake City on February 3, 1919. Graduated
from West High School, attended the U of U. Veteran of WWII. Member of the 8th
and 9th Air Force. Married Juanita L. Robbins on April 24, 1947 in the Salt
Lake Temple. "All my love, all my life". As a member of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bill served faithfully as a missionary (Texas/
Louisiana and with his dear wife at Pioneer Village/Lagoon), Salt Lake Temple
ordinance worker, guide on Temple Square, Home Teacher and in various Ward and
Stake auxiliaries in Salt Lake and Bountiful. As a member of the Veteran Scout
Association, scouting played an important role in his life and he encouraged
all his sons and grandsons in their achievement of Eagle. As a music lover,
Bill played clarinet in a Trio, in the West High and University of Utah bands,
also the Greek and Elks bands, a joyful memory. He was one of the organizers
and charter members of the South Davis Credit Union, (now the Deseret First
Credit Union). As a man who loved and embraced life, family, church and the
world around him, he helped others to do the same. He is survived by his wife
and children: David, Steven, Wendy Thomas (Jeff), Michael (Linda), Bradley
(Julie), 12 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by
parents; brother, Paul; sister, Fay Schaar; and grandson, Lance. Funeral
services will be held Wednesday, April 6 at 11:00 am at the Bountiful Orchard
Stake Center, 3599 S. Orchard Dr. Friends and Family may call Tuesday, April
5, from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Bountiful Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main
and at the church from 9:45-10:45 am prior to the services. Interment,

Nypower, David Lewis
David Lewis Nypower 1945 ~ 2005 David Lewis Nypower, age 59, was taken from
the world suddenly April 1, 2005 in an automobile accident. ' David was born
April 5 1945 in Salt Lake City to Hellen and Lewis Nypower. He moved as a
small child to Southern California and enjoyed being raised on the beaches on
his surf board and on the basketball court. He enjoyed being a "star" in his
high school and college sports days. He worked at Disneyland 'to pay his way
through college, making friends with Walt Disney and many of Walt's Celebrity
guests. He served an LDS mission to England; on his return home he met Tess
Meacham and they fell in love immediately. They Married in the Los Angeles
Temple in 1971. They moved to Utah to have and raise their family. David
pursued several careers before finding his true calling as a counselor for
troubled youth. He had a way of seeing the good in each child and bringing
that child out of crisis. This man had two great loves in his life. The first
being his family, the second being at Lake Powell. driving his jet boat. He
loved his immediate family and beyond, extending his love to all the kids he
counseled and transported throughout the years. He counted his friends as
"family". David is survived by his wife; six children, Michael, Joshua, Janna
(Ailao) Simanu, Timothy, Danielle, and Bridget (Reid) Basinger; his three
grandchildren; his mother Hellen Nypower; brother Stephen (Valerie) Nypower;
many friends and extended family. A celebration of his life will be held on
his 60th Birthday, Tuesday, April 5th at 1 p.m. in the Bluffdale 2nd Ward
14400 So. 1700 W. Friends may call Monday at from 6-8 p.m. at the Broomhead
Funeral Home 12600 So 2200 W. and Tuesday one hour prior at the Church.

Parkin, Mary Ileen Soffe
Mary Ileen Soffe Parkin The Messenger On Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005 mother
celebrated the resurrection of the Savior by returning home to His fold. Her
final earthly experience with pneumonia was mercifully short and without great
discomfort. She now is having a wonderful reunion with dad, who preceded her
in death in 1991, and with her parents and siblings, David, Olive, Rhea (Lau),
George and Anne (Buchanan). Born October 14, 1911 in the family home in
Lewisville, Idaho as the youngest child to David Peter and Anna Matilda
Anderson Soffe, mother spent her early years in Lewisville and Rigby, Idaho.
Her family subsequently moved to Bountiful, Utah, where mother had her early
education and graduated from Davis High School. She also graduated from beauty
school and began a career as a hair stylist. Dad, E. Lamar Parkin, saw a
beautiful girl at a dance and the resultant romance led to marriage in the
Salt Lake Temple, September 1, 1933. Their marriage was blessed with four
children, Mary Lou Parkin, James L. Parkin (Bonnie), Bonnie Sampson (Ralph),
Rheanna Lyn Pelton (Dick), and another son and daughter by affection Lex and
Jacoba Lisman. Her progeny has been increased by 12 grandchildren, 35
great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She also claims many
others whom she loved as children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her
life and the lives of others have been blessed by her strong testimony of
Jesus Christ and her commitment to His gospel. Monthly for nearly fifty years,
mother has written a message of faith and hope and has shared these monthly
messages with her family members and many friends both near and far. Last
Saturday before going to the hospital, mother wanted to be certain her hand
written message had been mailed to her faithful granddaughter, Tamra, for
transcription. It was! Her devotion to many church callings through the years
has also blessed the many whom she has taught and served. She knows the plan
of happiness and where the next phase of life will find her. Mother was
blessed with many talents. Through her artwork, many beautiful scenes were
captured on canvas, exhibited and shared. Experiences of life flowed from her
pen to paper with clarity of expression and beautiful penmanship. Our lives
are enhanced by her many talents. We deeply appreciate the many acts of love
and service so many gave to mother. Thank you. Special thanks to the staff at
the Wellington and the devoted leaders of the Wellington Branch. We especially
thank Coby for being such a wonderful and faithful friend and for her many
acts of kindness. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 4, 2005 at 1:00
p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful. A viewing will be
held Sunday, April 3 in the evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday prior to
services from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary in
Bountiful. Mother has great compassion for the many who lack opportunity for
education so in lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the Church of

Petersen, Robert V.
Robert V Petersen 1926 ~ 2005 On Thursday, March 31, our wonderful husband,
father, brother, uncle and grandfather passed away in Murray, Utah at the age
of 78. Bob was born April 21, 1926 in South Jordan as the youngest child to
Edgar R. and Martha V. Petersen. He met his sweetheart, Jayne Bigler at a
dance, and they were married October 23, 1950 in the Salt Lake City LDS
temple. Bob was the loving and devoted father of four children: Robyn (Alan)
LeMon, Kent (MaryAnn), Susan (Mitch) Gibson and Marilyn (Chris) Knapp. He is
also survived by one brother, Rex E. Petersen, and his grandchildren: Robert,
Amy, Jason, Ashley, Nicole, Jessica, Andrew, Chris and Ethan. Bob earned his
PHD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Minnesota. He began his
career as a Professor of Pharmacy at the University of Utah, where he shared
his passion for learning with others for 37 years. As an avid sportsman, Bob
took great joy in sharing and inspiring his family with his great love for
travel, adventure and the outdoors. He never missed a chance to share his
adventurous spirit with those he loved. His family will always remember who
they are and what they have become because of the values he instilled in them.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 4, 11:00 a.m. at Murray 25th Ward, 363
E. Vine Street. The family will receive friends at a viewing Monday evening
from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street and
Tuesday one hour prior to services at the Ward. Interment Murray City
Cemetery.

Peterson, Rhoda King
Rhoda King Peterson 11/12/1919~3/30/2005 Loving mother, grandmother, sister,
and friend, Rhoda King Peterson passed away March 30, 2005 at the home of her
son, Larry. She was born November 12, 1919 at Teasdale, Utah to Maria Lyman
and Volney Emery King. Rhoda attended high school in Provo and graduated from
Brigham Young University with a degree in English. She supported her family by
teaching high school and middle school. She married Lawrence Richard Peterson,
Sr. in 1942, later divorced. She was the proud mother of four children:
Lawrence Richard Peterson, Jr., Mark King Peterson, Susan Peterson Gong, and
Gloria Peterson Bastian. In 1966, she married Grandale G. Finlayson. He died
in 1988. Rhoda was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. At age 70, she served a proselyting mission to France and
Belgium, tracting alongside twenty-one-year-old sister missionaries. Her life
was a series of adventures from being the camp cook for ranch hands and
cowboys in scenic southern Utah, to living in a ghost town mining gold in
Montana, to single handedly raising four rambunctious children, not to mention
flying around the western United States in a wide variety of aircraft with
Dick or traveling the world with Grandale. A gregarious person, Rhoda loved to
participate in all kinds of discussions---political, religious, sports, or
family. She was a person who saw the best in everything and everyone and was
grateful for every blessing. Rhoda endured her trials with optimism and humor.
She was always asked to bring her famous potato salad to any family gathering.
Rhoda is survived by her children and their spouses: Larry and Janet Peterson,
Cottonwood Heights, Utah; Mark and Linda Peterson, Tonopah, Nevada; Sue and
Brian Gong, Madbury, New Hampshire; Gloria and Gary Bastian, Hansen, Idaho; 17
grandchildren: Scott, Stephanie, Tom, Greg, Jeff, Brent, Amy Sue, Kathy,
Michael, Nancy, Gloria Jean, Angela, Benjamin, Jacob, Christina, Desiree, and
Cody; 17 great-grandchildren: Brinley, Ben, Amanda, Emma, Andrew, Emily, Alex,
Sophia, Lori, Adam, Taegen, Stile, Liv, Lily, Copper, Carter, and Carson. Also
survived by her brother, Dwight King, and her sister, Romola Cole. Preceded in
death by one grandson, Garrett Bastian; a daughter-in-law, Linda Thomas
Peterson, brothers and sisters: Hugh King, Gladys Isaacson, June King, Cecil
King, Rosetta King, and Craig King. Friends may call at the Cannon Mortuary,

Richards, Beverly Beesley
Beverly Beesley Richards 1923 ~ 2005 Beverly Beesley Richards passed away
Tuesday morning, March 29, 2005. She was born on Feb. 17, 1923 in Salt Lake
City to Wilford Angus Beesley and Evangeline Thomas Beesley. Beverly was
raised in the Capitol Hill neighborhood in Salt Lake City. Her father was the
stake president for nearly 20 years and served as a counselor for five more
years. She was the granddaughter of Ebeneezer Beesley, pioneer composer and
musician and Agnes Olsen Thomas, a well known soloist. She graduated from the
University of Utah with a B.S. and a graduate degree in social work. She was
affiliated with the Chi Omega sorority. Later, she earned a masters degree in
Educational Psychology from BYU. Beverly was married to Foley Caldwell
Richards on March 16, 1945 by Pres. David O. McKay in the Salt Lake Temple.
They were married for over 50 years until Foley's death in November, 1998.
Beverly and Foley had four children: Melanie Richards Metz (deceased 1997),
David Foley Richards, Jonathan Wilford Richards and Daniel Thomas Richards
(deceased 1962). She taught in the Granite School District for 19 years.
Later, she was a teacher/therapist for the Children's Center on the U of U
Campus for 8 years. She loved teaching and she loved her students. Beverly was
a member of the editorial board for the LDS magazine "The Children's Friend".
Beverly enjoyed serving on many church callings. She started teaching Primary
at age 12 and had many callings in the Primary organization through the years.
She also taught in the Relief Society. Beverly sang in the Tabernacle Choir.
Most recently, Beverly served as a hostess at the Joseph Smith Building.
Beverly's greatest love was her family and her Father In Heaven. She spent
many hours teaching and playing with her grandchildren. She was sustained in
times of troubles and challenges by her faith in God, his son Jesus Christ and
the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved parties, friends,
gardening, needlepoint, knitting, and shopping. Bev was well known for her
"style" in attitude and appearance. She was also an enthusiastic sports fan
and especially enjoyed watching U of U basketball. Beverly is survived by her
two sons, David Foley Richards, Jonathan Wilford Richards (Gail), and three
siblings, Virginia B. Cannon (Stan), Wilford A. Beesley Jr. (Janie) and
Garratt Thomas Beesley (Diane). Also by son-in-law Larry S. Metz along with
beloved grandchildren Thomas Samuel Metz, Grace Ann Richards, Cooper Foley
Richards and much loved nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be
held from 6-8 p.m., Mon., April 4th at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S.
Highland Dr. and prior to the funeral services on Tues. from 10:45-11:45 at
the Mt. Olympus 6th Ward, 4407 Fortuna Way. Funeral services will be begin at
Noon, Tuesday, April 5th in the Mt. Olympus 6th Ward Chapel.

Rushton, Maurine Mackay
Maurine Mackay Rushton 7/6/12 ~ 3/30/05 Beloved wife, mother, sister,
grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, March 30,
2005 in Salt Lake City with her loving husband at her side. Born June 6, 1912
in Taylorsville, Utah, Maurine was the first born child of Thomas Alma and
Hilda Bennion Mackay. Married Parley W. Rushton, June 6, 1936. Their marriage
was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. After receiving her teaching
degree at the University of Utah, Maurine taught in the Granite School
District for seven years. She taught at Oakwood Elementary, Garfield
Elementary and Plymouth Elementary, where she herself attended as an
elementary student. Active in the LDS Church, Maurine taught primary for 14
years, and served 10 years on the primary stake board at East Millcreek Stake.
She was also the secretary of the Relief Society during the tenure of six
Relief Society presidents at Garden Heights Ward. She was also active in
genealogy. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 69 years; sons, P.
Brent (Marilyn) Rushton, Draper; Keith M. (Paula) Rushton, Draper;
sister-in-laws, Barbara Mackay, Taylorsville and Elizabeth (Steven) Mackay,
Ontario, Oregon; brother-in-law, Ken (Helen) Ward, Holladay. She also leaves
behind a wonderful family of 10 grandchildren, 33 great-grand-children and
seven great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother and
father; daughter, Ruth Maurine Rushton (1964); brothers, Raymond, Lyman,
Leland, Steven, Merrill; and loving sister, Helen (Ken) Ward. To our mom,
grandma, and friend - We know God closely watched over you and knew it was
time for you to go home, so he gently closed your eyes and took you peacefully
in his arms. Until we see you again...we love you! Funeral services will be
held Monday, April 4, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Wilford Stake Center, 1765 East
3080 South. Burial services will follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401
So. Highland Drive. A viewing will be held Sunday, April 3 from 6-8 at Wasatch

Salmon, Melvin John
Melvin John Salmon 1921 ~ 2005 CENTERVILLE- Our loving husband, dad, papa,
brother and friend returned to his Heavenly Father Thursday, March 31, 2005.
Melvin John Salmon was born April 28, 1921 in Salt Lake City, Utah to the
family of John Homer and Margaret Pheobe White Salmon. He lived his younger
years in Mesa and Gilbert, Arizona, returning to Salt Lake City at the age of
15. He went to work at the age of 15 to help support his family after his
father's death. Married Barbara D. Erickson in 1947, later divorced. Married
Patricia Gail Simpson in December of 1965. Their marriage was later solemnized
in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints and held many callings, the last of which was Patriarch of
the West Bountiful Stake. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his
family. One of his greatest loves was his garden and providing fresh
vegetables for family, neighbors and friends. He served 13 years in the
military, retiring from Hill Air Force Base in 1974. He served in England
Burmingham and Mazatlan Mexican mission with his companion and helped support
all of his grandchildren who served missions. He has been a great support to
his entire family. Survived by his wife, Gail; daughters, Pamela (Robert)
Shriver, Cathy Arends; sons, Melvin John (Myra) Salmon, Jr., Keith (Eileen)
Salmon; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grand-children; sister, Irene Johnson;
brothers, Orville, Eugene, Dean and Bill. Preceded in death by his parents,
brothers, Glen, Alvin and Jerry; sister, Mary and son-in-law, Donald Arends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 4, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the
Centerville 7th Ward Chapel, 270 N. 300 E., Centerville. Friends and family
may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful
Mortuary, 295 N. Main and Monday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church

Skidmore, James Burnham
James Burnham Skidmore 6/9/1919 ~ 3/26/2005 James Burnham Skidmore, 85, has
accepted a call beyond mortality. He was born June 9, 1919 in Logan, Utah to
George Willis Skidmore and Mary Louise Burnham, seventh of 11 children. He
served a mission for the LDS Church in the Northwest/British Columbia
Missions. He was active in missionary work his whole life and looked forward
to continuing those efforts in the hereafter. He served in the Army during
World War II, in India and Burma, specializing in communications and very
early smart bombs. James married the beautiful Zara Bybee of Smithfield, Utah
in the Salt Lake Temple and they had four children: Craig (m. Sharlene Soper),
Lorie (m. Kevin Call), Randy (m. Lorretta Rickert) and Karen (m. Will
Rackliffe). He graduated in Electronics Engineering from USU and spent his
career developing sonar and communications for the Navy; and Atlas and Centaur
missiles for General Dynamics. His life was spent in service and devotion, to
God, family and country. He served many years as a stake, genealogy and temple
missionary. He was kind, patient and long-suffering. He was loved and admired
by those who knew him. He had a special love for babies and the sight of a
baby could bring a smile to his face, even on his death bed. While we will
miss him, we have confidence that he is moving on to serve others in a better
place. He is survived by his wife and all his descendants, including 20
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services Monday, April 4th at 11
a.m., viewing at 10, at the Brookshire Ward, 1325 West, 5550 South,
Taylorsville, UT. Viewing Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Estates Funeral
Home, 5850 S. 900 E, Murray. Burial at Murray City Cemetery.

Smith, Ruby Stone
Ruby Stone Smith 01/15/1913 ~ 4/01/05 "Together Forever" Ruby Stone Smith, 92,
our precious beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and
great-great-grandmother passed away on April 1, 2005, at the Residency Care
Source Hospice Center after suffering a stroke. We would like to thank Care
Source for their care and compassion. She was born January 15, 1913 to Alice
Tapp Stone and David Philip Stone in Cottonwood, Utah. She married Dell Vane
Smith June 7, 1933 in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death on August
31, 1990. Ruby was an active member of the LDS Church and very much a family
oriented Mom who loved her gardening, tatting, crocheting and canning. She was
a wonderful Mother and homemaker. She will be greatly missed. She is survived
by her three daughters; Jean Fitzgerald, Lehi Utah; Margie (Ken) Adams, Sandy
Utah; Dawn (Clay) Hatfield, Tempe, AZ; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grand
children, one great- great-grandchild and one sister. Preceded in death by
five sisters and two brothers. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April
4, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley 1007 West South Jordan
Parkway (10600 South) where a viewing will be held Sunday, April 3, 2005 from
6-8 p.m. Friends may call one hour prior to the services on Monday. Interment
Murray City Cemetery.

Sorenson, Daniel Robert
Daniel Robert Sorenson 1983 ~ 2005 Daniel Robert Sorenson, age 22, our beloved
son and brother, passed away peacefully at home on April 1, 2005, after a long
battle with cancer. The smiles he brought to our hearts are dimmed as we
contemplate life without him. He impacted the lives of so many, especially his
family members and friends who stood by him through his battle against cancer.
A fighter for the underdog, Danny was known as the "gentle giant", especially
among little children. His easy going outlook on life and his lack of
complaint, of his lot in life, made him a pleasure to be around and easy to
serve. It just seemed like you didn't have any problems when you were with
Danny. He took life all in and enjoyed every ounce of it no matter where, no
matter when, and no matter how ill he was. He inspired all of us to follow our
Heavenly Father's plan. Danny uplifted his family and friends, when the going
got tough, more than we were able to uplift him. How he will be missed! Danny
is survived in death, by his father Robert; mother Heidi Zurcher Sorenson; a
sister Heather Anderson; a brother-in-law Jake Anderson (Lindon); two brothers
Ryan and Jon and both sets of grandparents; David and LeeAnn Sorenson (Logan)
also Hans and Hanna Zurcher (Smithfield). Danny was born March 3, 1983 in
Logan Utah. He moved with the family to Boise, Idaho; later to Portland,
Oregon and has lived in Alpine for the last 11 years of his life. He attended
Alpine Elementary, Mt Ridge Junior High, and Lone Peak High schools. He played
in the band in Junior High and High School. Our family band will miss our tuba
player. Danny loved computers and all sports but especially basketball. It was
his dream to play professionally. He also enjoyed snowboarding, rollerblading
and wake boarding. He was an eagle scout and an active member of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a clerk in his ward at the
time of his death. He worked in between his cancer treatments, delivering
Domino's pizza from Highland, Utah in his beloved silver Volkswagen Bug. We
would like to express our gratitude to all of our wonderful friends,
neighbors, and relatives who have taken time to provide service and support to
our family over the past several years as well as kept Danny and his family in
their prayers. To all the physicians, physicians assistants, nurses and
medical staff that have assisted us and attended to Danny's needs, thank you
for your time, expertise and effort. You have all shown us what true charity
is and you have never failed us. Funeral services for Daniel will be held
Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. in the Alpine LDS Stake Center, 98 East
Canyon Crest Road, Alpine Utah. Family and friends may call on Monday evening
from 6-8 p.m. at Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, (located four
blocks north of the Mt. Timpanogos Temple), American Fork, Utah. Graveside
services will commence at 3:00 p.m. that same afternoon at the Logan City

Spencer, Mary
Mary Spencer 1951 ~ 2005 "At Rest With God" Mary Ethel Berryhill Spencer, 53,
passed away March 31, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born June 22, 1951 in
Chicago, IL., son of Joseph Henry and Myrtice Loree Berryhill. Graduated from
Orem High School in 1970. Married Donald Eugene Spencer March 23, 1973 in
Lubbock, TX. Enjoyed caring for people as a nurse for over 30 years until
going on disability in 2004. Survived by her parents, Joe and Loree; husband,
Donald; son, Jonathan. Preceded in death by sister, Patricia. Memorial
services will be held on Saturday, April 9, 12:00 noon, at South Side Church
of Christ, 5445 South 2700 West, under direction of McDougal Funeral Home. In
lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to your favorite

Strebel, Grant A.
Grant A. Strebel 1905 ~ 2005 Grant Anton Strebel died March 29, 2005 of causes
incident to age. He was born in Provo, Utah, June 14, 1905 to Anton and Minnie
Kathryn Strebel. He spent his early life in Provo, Vernal and Salt Lake. He
graduated from West High and attended the University of Utah. Grant served a
mission in German for the LDS Church, then settled in the Bay area of
California, where he met his sweetheart, Jean McDonald. She was his helpmate,
supporter, and admirer throughout the next six decades of their life together.
Grant was a top salesman for New York Life Insurance Co. He was articulate,
interesting and exuded a genuine warmth for people. He never forgot a person's
name. Grant loved to hunt and fish, both in the U.S. and elsewhere. Grant and
Jean loved to travel and made lifelong friends around the world. They were
committed to the LDS Church. Grant is indeed a remarkable person. He was a
supporter of Brigham Young University and a friend of the Monte L. Bean Life
Science Museum at the time the university's collections were gathered from
across campus into the present facility. He was instrumental in obtaining from
Ann Gracchi the Mario Gracchi sea shells, which became the nucleus of a large
and growing shell collection at the museum. Grant worked through his two
brothers-in-law, Junius and Golden Driggs, to finance that important
collection. He was also instrumental in providing the money necessary for its
perpetual curation. Additional funds to form an endowment to the museum have
been contributed in Jean's name. His unselfish contributions will enhance the
education of future generations. Grant spent the last two months of his life
in Bountiful with his nephew, Harold Shafter. He was preceded in death by his
wife, Jean; parents; three sisters and one brother. He is survived by many
nieces and nephews. The family thanks the staff at Avalon Care Center in
Bountiful for the loving care given him during his final hours here on earth.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at 12 noon at the

Thompson, Melvin Kirk
Melvin Kirk Thompson 1927 ~ 2005 Melvin Kirk Thompson peacefully passed away
April 1, 2005 from a lingering illness. Born July 26, 1927 to Melvin Billings
Thompson and Hazel Justesen Thompson. Graduated from East High School in 1944
and attended the University of Utah in the engineering department. Served in
the Navy in World War II. Married Ruth Marilyn Rigby on October 16, 1947 in
the SL LDS Temple. Many hours were spent with his family in service, love, and
enjoyable activities. MK owned and operated his own construction company for
52 years developing wonderful friendships in clients and subcontractors.
Monthly meetings with good friends in the Southeast Lions Club began in 1955
until just last week. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, Mel served in many capacities including the Bishopric and Elder's
Quorum President. Survived by his loving wife, three sisters Hazel (Bill)
Dunston, Alice Clark, Joanne (Roger) Pugmire; four children Wes (Rose)
Thompson, Brad (Melissa) Thompson, Guy (Judy) Thompson, Dana (Ken) Sowby; 15
grandchildren, and 12 great-grand-children. Funeral services will be held at
12 noon on Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at the Monument Park 14th Ward, 2255 S.
Wasatch Dr. (one block east of Foothill Drive). Friends may call Monday, April
4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 S., and Tuesday at

Turner, Marion
Marion Turner 6/03/30 ~ 3/30/05 Marion Turner, born June 3, 1930 in Hunter,
UT, to George Anderson and Harriet Fern Hartle Turner. He was an active member
in the LDS Church and held many positions throughout the years. He had a great
love for the outdoors; hiking, fishing and camping. He married his sweetheart,
Emma Silcox in August 1950, they later solemnized their marriage in the Salt
Lake LDS Temple on May 8, 1979. Retired after 26 years of service from the
Salt Lake City Fire Department. Preceded in death by his parents; one brother,
Stephen; one step-grandson, Troy Wardle. Survived by his wife of 55 years,
Emma; two step-sons, Dee (Vivian) Wardle and Paul (Nada) Wardle; one
step-granddaughter they raised, Peggy (Allan) Middlesworth; daughter-in-law,
Bridgette Grow; three brothers, Norval Turner (Beattie), Bill Turner (Helen),
Jerry Turner (Renee); 5 sisters, Addie Mackey, Dora (Jarvis) Peck, Leola
(Wayne) Stanley, Barbara Eliason, Carol (Deon) Hutchings; 15 grandchildren, 30
great-grand-children, and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services Monday,
April 4th, 12 noon at the Rose Park 4th Ward, 1200 W. 800 No., Salt Lake City.

West, Varian LaVearl
Varian LaVearl West "Master Gardener" After a long and debilitating illness,
Varian L. West was called home to his Heavenly Father on March 29, 2005. He
was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was born on July 2, 1929 in
Pleasant Grove, Utah to Varian W. and Edna Binns West. He was educated at the
Utah School for the Deaf in Ogden, Utah. He worked most of his life in the
printing trade. He married Lila Bosshardt in July 1949. They were the parents
of four children, one of whom died in infancy. Varian loved the outdoors
life-fishing, hunting, growing fruits and vegetables. He loved horses and
dogs. He had a kind and generous heart, sharing his bounty and knowledge with
others. After his divorce in 1990, he met and married Marion Brown Malloy on
March 30, 1991. They shared a very special love and bond. She was his loving
caretaker at home these last two years. He is survived by his wife, Marion;
sons, Richard and Billy (Wendy); daughter Jolene (Vance) Dalton; six
stepchildren, William, Eric, Marianne, Glenn, Alvin Malloy, and Kathleen
Angelo; 28 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his special Chihuahuas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Floris; brother, David;
infant daughter, Connie; and great-grandson, Hunter West. Special thanks to
his long-time physician, Dr. Dana Wilson and the staff at St. Mark's Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 3 pm on Monday, April 4, 2005 at Redwood
Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road in West Jordan, with a viewing
one-hour prior. Interment, Redwood Memorial Cemetery.

Roger Frank Whitehouse 1946 ~ 2005 Among the peaks of the everlasting hills he
loved, our beloved husband, father, brother, and son passed suddenly from
heart failure. Roger Frank Whitehouse, born November 8, 1946 in Tooele, Utah
of pioneer blood passed away on April 1, 2005. His life was a life of
integrity, humility, the outdoors, his family, and most importantly service to
our Heavenly Father. We grieve his loss, yet recognize his place in the
resurrection and in eternal life. He is survived by his high school sweetheart
and eternal companion Valerie Kay Shields Whitehouse; the light of his life
Heather, other daughter Hollie (Mike) Affleck and granddaughter Elizabeth;
sons Roger II, Matthew, Jason; mother Bertha; brothers Scott (Margaret), Russ
(Teresa); sisters Paula (Dick) Spencer and Susie. Preceded in death by his

John Junior Worley 1922 ~ 2005 John Junior Worley died April 1, 2005 in Salt
Lake City. Born January 4, 1922 in Arimo, ID. Was an LDS Missionary in New
England; veteran E.T.O, 1st Division; B.S. and M.S. at U of U, a pedagogue.
Married Margie Jensen in 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple. Lived a full and
meaningful life; people person; many interests: gardening, hybridizing
Gladiolus; enjoyed fine music, fascinated by history; read extensively.
Survived by wife, four children: Joan Worley, Kenneth Worley (Janice); Diane
Worley (Jamie Howell) and Cynthia Nay (Joe); seven grandchildren; four
step-grand-children, all loved dearly. Bothered by narcissistic attitudes that
result in too much insensitivity towards others. Funeral services: Tuesday,
April 5, 2005 at 12 noon at Cottonwood 1st Ward, 5913 South Highland Drive.
