Baessler, Siegfried
Siegfried Baessler SIG Siegfried Baessler, age 80, passed away April 3, 2005.
Born Feb. 15, 1925 in Greenburg, Germany to Eric and Elizabeth Reichelt
Baessler. Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Worked as a salesman for Glade Candy
Company. Survived by brothers Michael of Grantsville, Utah; Carl of West
Valley City; Ralph of St. George; and sister, Annamarie Nicon, Centerville.
Private family services will be held.

Barker, Ralph Byrne
Ralph Byrne Barker 1921 ~ 2005 Ralph Byrne Barker of Centerville, Utah passed
peacefully from this life into the arms of a loving Heavenly Father, April 6,
2005, surrounded by his family. He was a colon cancer survivor of many years
but fought a courageous battle for three years against a very rare form of
cancer, Merkle cell. Ralph was born July 2, 1921 in Nemaha County, Nebraska to
Eunice Marie Hill and Ralph Clifton Den. He married his sweetheart of almost
63 years, July 25, 1942 in Reno, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized
in the Salt Lake Temple. He loved his country dearly and served in the United
States Navy, SeaBee's in the Pacific theater. He was in the invasion of Tinian
where he later was a shovel operator, loading trucks with coral that was used
to build the runway for the Enola Gay that dropped the nuclear bombs on
Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Ralph worked 34 years for the Union Pacific Railroad
as a pipefitter. He also served as a Sheetmetal Worker's Union local chairman
and later as the District Financial Secretary. As an active member of The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many, many
capacities. His favorite callings were as Elder's Quorum president, working
with the once active widows and widowers and the Mutual for the Handicapped in
Davis County. Ralph and his beloved Verleen served as Temple Ordinance workers
and enjoyed a mission in the Ohio, Columbus Mission. He had a passion for
gardening and keeping his lawn beautiful. He had a deep and abiding love of
the gospel and the Lord. He was a man of honesty and integrity. He had a
strong work ethic which he passed on to his children as his legacy. He is
survived by his loving, caring wife, Verleen; one daughter and son-in-law,
Sandra Kay (Terry) Smith; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary D. (Darlene)
Barker. There are seven grandchildren: Daniel P. Smith of Midvale; Timothy
(Jolyn) Smith of Panguitch; Ann-Rachelle (Stephen) Rosier of Harrisonville;
Patricia K. (Mark) Vales of Dallas, Texas; Shannon (Charles) Dwan of Conway,
Arkansas; Heather L. (Benjamin) Matthews of Little Rock; Arkansas and Rachel
Barker of Logan, Utah. There are also 15 great-grandchildren: Collin, Gavin,
Kaelee, Maxwell, Lauren, Teirsa, Austin, Megan and Maquel Smith, Seth and
Rebecca Rosier, Andrew and Alasen Dwan, Cody and Kory Cox. He is also survived
by one brother, Carl E. Hill of Stella, Nebraska; Wilma Johanson of Pocatello,
Idaho and Eoma Lee Masonbrink of Auburn, Nebraska; as well as numerous nieces
and nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his
parents and sisters, Wilda Toscano and Wanda Hill. Funeral services will be
held Sat., April 9, 2005 at 1 p.m. at the Centerville 9th Ward Chapel, 1475 N.
50 E. Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Russon
Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main, and Sat. morning from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at

Bergstrom, Juanita
Juanita Bergstrom 1/13/23 ~ 4/6/05 Mary Juanita Bergstrom returned home to her
Heavenly Father at the age of 82. She was born in Logan, Utah to Sylvester
James Nielsen and Jennie Marie Hansen. She spent most of her childhood in
Magna. She married Walter Bergstrom on November 12, 1940, and was later sealed
in the Salt Lake Temple in June 1943. The Bergstroms were one of the first 100
families that moved to Kearns. She is survived by her loving husband; six
children, Gaylyn (Shirley), Noland (Sally), Keith (Marilyn), Gerald, Jeniel
(Lewis) Skaug, Merrilyn (Scott) Beal; 23 grandchildren; 32
great-grandchildren; foster Lamanite daughter, Laverne; three sisters; three
brothers and many extended family members. Funeral services will be held
Saturday, April 9th, 2:00 p.m. at the Kearns Central Stake Center, 4575 W.
5415 S. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at Redwood
Memorial Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Road, and one hour prior to services at the
church. Special thanks to the Hospice of Utah staff that gave such
compassionate care to Juanita.

Bertoch, John Wayne
John Wayne Bertoch 1952 ~ 2005 My eternal companion and our best friend, John
W. Bertoch, passed away on April 4, 2005. John was born June 14, 1952, in
Pocatello Idaho to Jack W. Bertoch and Colleen Price. John loved life and had
an infectious laugh. He loved his family and friends. He was always interested
in others, their lives, their joys, their sorrows. His greatest joy was in
serving others. His friends referred to him as "big hearted John." He loved
music. He was an accomplished pianist, taught piano lessons, and loved to sing
with his wife, Marilyn. He loved to go to the movies and enjoyed the
experience with his diet Coke and popcorn. He loved reading and learning. He
enjoyed emailing to countless friends. Held many positions of leadership in
the LDS Church. Went to school in Pocatello. Worked for his Grandpa Bertoch at
Paramount Dry Cleaners. After graduating from high school, he attended Rick's
College where he spent his summers at the Play Mill Theatre in Jackson Hole.
He began his career with US West in Pocatello, and in 1977 moved to Salt Lake
City and worked for Quest for over 25 years, where he enjoyed many friendships
that have lasted through the years. He is survived by his wife Marilyn and his
son Cameron, father Jack (Barbara), brothers David (Stacy), Tim (Jalene),
Scott (Pam), Jason (Julia), sisters Lisa (Chris), Leslie (Dave), Lee Ann
(Dale), step-sister Deborah Miller (Robert), mother and father-in-law Gene and
Joyce Smith, sister-in-law Sharon (Warren) Rappleye, brother-in-law Jerry
(Betsy) Smith, and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Preceded in
death by mother Colleen, step-father Harold Whisler, Michael Bertoch (uncle),
and loving grandparents. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 8 at 12
noon at the Cottonwood Heights 3rd Ward, 6890 S. 2228 E. A viewing will be
held Thurs. night from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland
Drive and one hour prior to funeral services.

Bettess, Deborah
Deborah Bettess 1953 ~ 2005 Deborah Bettess passed away April 2, 2005 at her
home in Salt Lake City. She was the daughter of Sharon Gibbs Wells and Richard
D. Bettess. She was born Jan. 14, 1953. She is survived by her mother, Sharon
(Pinehurst, TX); her sister Arleene Hunt (Pinehurst, TX) and her brother
Martin L. Wells (Magnolia, TX). She is preceded in death by her father,
Richard, stepfather Lynn M. Wells, and grandmother Mrs. Wilma Grieve. Debbie
will be remembered for her dedicated advocacy with the Disability Act and the
Council for the Blind. She will be missed terribly by her loving family and
many good friends. Magnolia Funeral home, Magnolia TX. She will be buried
Saturday April 9 in Magnolia Texas.

Brower, Grant Clark
Grant Clark Brower 1973 ~ 2005 Grant Clark Brower of Salt Lake City, beloved
son, brother, uncle, teacher, and friend, died 2 Apr 2005 while rock climbing
near Boulder, Colorado. He was born 3 Dec 1973 in Provo, Utah, but lived in
Salt Lake City from the age of two. He graduated from West High School and
received degrees from the University of Utah in Economics and in Elementary
Education. After High School, he joined the Army Reserve and had fulfilled his
service obligation. He was currently serving as a first grade bi-lingual
teacher at Rose Park Elementary School in Salt Lake City. Grant was an avid
athlete, outdoorsman, and adventurer. He had served in Korea for a short time
while in the reserves, taught for a year in Costa Rica learning spanish in the
process and certifying as a scuba diver, and spent a summer in Ecuador as a
Fulbright-Hays Scholar, where he met the light of his life, Kristen Schaub. He
played both ice and deck hockey, competed in several triathons, and ran
half-marathons with his sister Anna. He loved hiking through Utah's canyon
lands with his friends and his siblings, Anna, David, and Lydia. He is
survived by his fianc , Kristen, a bilingual teacher in Park City, Jumpy (his
tarantula), and Cylon (his boa constrictor). Surviving family members include
his parents, Dirk and Cheryl Brower of Salt Lake City, sister Deborah and her
husband, Dan Norris, of Barre, Vermont, sister Rebekah and her husband James
Gustason of Woods Cross, Utah, sister Anna Brower of Denver, Colorado, brother
David of Salt Lake City, and sister Lydia of Bountiful, Utah. He will be
greatly missed by his niece, Bayly Dae, and nephews Max, Jack, Josh, David,
and Sammy. There will be an informal memorial celebration of Grant's life at
2148 Blair St., Salt Lake City at 6:30 p.m. on Thurs., 7 Apr 2005 and a
viewing at Larkin Mortuary at 260 E. South Temple in Salt Lake City at 7:00
p.m. on Friday, 8 Apr 2005. The funeral is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. in the
Salt Lake 19th Ward Chapel at 225 W. 500 N. in Salt Lake City with a viewing
at that location at 11:00 a.m. Interment at the Salt Lake City Cemetery in the
Avenues will immediately follow the funeral services. It is anticipated that
Spanish translation will be available for the funeral service. Those who wish
to remember Grant may contribute to the Grant Brower Memorial Fund for the
Rose Park Elementary School bi-lingual program. Contributions may be made at

Bullough, Robert Dale
Robert Dale Bullough 1955 ~ 2005 Our loving husband, father, son, brother and
uncle Dale Bullough, 49, died April 5 from injuries sustained in a fall. He
was born June 15, 1955 in Salt Lake City to Bonnie and Bob Bullough. He
graduated from Kearns High School in 1973 and attended the University of Utah
and Utah Technical College. He married Jennifer Rohrbach on July 27, 1992.
Together they raised their daughter Casey Gail, 8, Dale's pride and joy. Dale
worked as a draftsman, designer and illustrator for over 20 years. He was
quiet and unassuming, and had a warm smile. He was an avid swimmer for the
Kearns youth aquatic team and in high school. He enjoyed raising fish and
reptiles, and loved landscaping, reading and model trains. Dale is preceded in
death by his sister Marianne Hartt, and is survived by his wife and daughter,
his parents, his sister Christene (Dave) Thresher, his brother John D. (Joe
Zachmann) Bullough; nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, brothers and
sisters-in-law; aunts, uncles and cousins. The family would like to thank
Tammy and the University of Utah Medical Center staff for the care they gave

Byer, Eva Ardell Farnworth
Eva Ardell Farnworth Byer 1910 ~ 2005 WASHINGTON TERRACE- Eva Ardell Farnworth
Chantry Jackson Byer, 94, passed away Tuesday, April 05, 2005 at Wasatch Care
Center in Ogden. Eva was born June 11, 1910, a daughter of Herbert Farnworth
and Rosie Lake Farnworth in Ashton, Idaho. She was a very active member of The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings. Eva
lived in Idaho, Utah and California. Many people benefited from her various
talents which included being a great homemaker, her quilting, and needlework.
Eva loved and wrote poetry of which many poems were published. Eva is survived
by her six children, four sons, Donald (Nancy) Chantry, Ogden; Gene (Bonnie)
Chantry, Albany, OR; Jerry (Betty) Jackson, Hesperia, CA; Richard (Holly)
Jackson, Riverside, CA; two daughters, Wanda (Richard) Chantry Jordan, West
Valley; Eva Louise (Ernie) Jackson Watson, Ogden; numerous grandchildren;
great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are her
sisters, Rosa May, Nevada, MO; Edna Richins, Gridley, CA. Preceded in death by
her three husbands, three brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be
held Saturday, April 9, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408
Washington Blvd. Friends and family may call at the mortuary Friday, April 8,
2005 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Interment,

Cannon Jr., Edwin Q.
Edwin Q Cannon Jr. 1918 ~ 2005 Like his grandfather Apostle George Q. Cannon,
Edwin Q. Cannon, Jr. was a pioneer for the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. In 1978 he was called by the First Presidency of the
Church, together with his wife and one other couple, Rendell and Rachel Mabey,
to establish the first official branches of the Church among the blacks in
Africa. In less than a year, trained native leaders in Ghana and Nigeria were
presiding over 27 LDS branches made up of the hundreds of new members baptized
by Brothers Cannon and Mabey. "Ted" Cannon, as he was known to friends and
relatives, was born May 6, 1918, to Edwin Q. and Luella Wareing Cannon.
Because of the flu epidemic then raging, he was born at home, 231 D St in Salt
Lake City, delivered by his father's brother Dr. William T. Cannon. He grew up
on "the Avenues," attending Lowell, Bryant Junior High, and East High schools.
Ted's studies at the University of Utah were interrupted in 1937 by a mission
call to Hitler's Germany. He was president of the East Berlin Branch in 1939
when the missionaries were evacuated as World War II began. He finished his
mission in eastern Canada and returned home in 1940. He re-enrolled at the
"U," rejoined the University polo team, and became president of Beta Theta Pi
fraternity. He and Janath Russell were married in the Salt Lake Temple on
August 13, 1941, exactly two years from the date they had first met in Berlin.
He graduated in 1942 -"in absentia"- as he was already at the Harvard Graduate
School of Business Administration, from which he received his MBA in 1943,
graduating magna cum laude at the top of his class. During the war he was an
officer in the U.S. Army, stationed at the Quartermaster Office of Price
Adjustment in San Francisco. He returned to Salt Lake City and the family
business, the Salt Lake Stamp Co., in spite of tempting job offers elsewhere,
and with his brother, William W., managed the company successfully for over 30
years. The brothers shouldered each other's responsibilities to make mission
calls possible, and enjoyed sharing a ranch in Kamas Valley. A life of service
in the Church included these positions: counselor to Bishop Orval Fox in the
20th Ward 1950-'59; Ensign Stake High Council (1959-'64; bishop of the Ensign
4th Ward 1964-'71; president of the Switzerland Mission, 1971-'74; counselor
and later executive secretary in the International Mission 1974-'87; sealer in
the Salt Lake Temple; director of the Nauvoo Visitors Center 1987-'89; interim
president of the Hamburg Germany Mission for three months in 1989, so Pres.
Walter Paul could re-open the East German Mission; president of the Frankfurt
Temple 1989-'91. Civic service included: member of the Utah State House of
Representatives 1956, 1958, 1960; president of Marking Device Association
1971; member of Utah Executives Association, Rotary International, and Utah
Manufacturers Association. Ted was a respected businessman, a loyal husband, a
quiet and caring father, a faithful friend, and a delightful companion. His
mortal life ended on April 6, 2005. Among those who will miss him until they
meet again are: His wife, Janath Russell Cannon, children: Ann (Richard)
LeVitre, Ned (Kay) Cannon, Melissa (Tim) Evans, Russell (Shelley) Cannon,
Tenney (Anita) Cannon, and Myra (Darin) Kerr; 26 grandchildren and 30 great
grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sat. April 9, 2005, 12:00 noon at
the Salt Lake Ensign Stake Center, 2nd Ave. & A Street. Friends may call Fri.
evening from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple and from
10:30-11:45 prior to services. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery. In lieu of
flowers, donations to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund, are suggested.

Carlsen, Calvin Ray
Calvin Ray Carlsen 1926 ~ 2005 Calvin Ray Carlsen, of Atlanta, GA. passed away
on December 30, 2004 from heart failure. He was born October 4, 1926, in Malad
City, ID to Thurval and Anna Esklund Carlsen. He grew up in Salt Lake City. He
enjoyed Scouting and working on cars. Calvin enlisted in the Navy, at the age
of 17, to defend his country in WWII. He trained in Aircraft mechanics and
this led to a lifelong career in the airline industry. He retired from
Northwest Airlines at the age of 70. He married Ramona May Asay on September
8, 1945. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They
divorced in 1963. He married Alice Merle Miller June 6, 1968, she passed away
on January 16, 1981. He married Nellena Smith May 28, 1981. He was a member of
the LDS Church and served in several different capacities. He spent many years
as a Scoutmaster. He loved music. He played the trumpet and taught himself to
play the organ. He served as Ward Organist several times. Calvin is survived
by his dear wife, Nellena; his children: Ray (Wilma) of Payson, Gene (Sally)
of Salt Lake City, Janice Webster of Fremont, Calif., Juanita (Ed)
Christiansen of Farmington, and Debra Rose of Encinitas, Calif. Stepchildren:
Latrilla King, Robert (Mary) Smith, Doug (Peggy) Smith, Saralee (Clifford)
Kemple, Shane (Virginia) Smith, Tammy (Calvin) Crane, Nellena Rodriguez, and
Sheldon (Patty) Smith. He is also survived by sister-in-law Alice Carlsen of
Layton, 61 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by brothers Earl, Fred and Robert; sisters: Rebecca Gardner and Florence
Sinclair. Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 9, 2005 at 2:00 p.m.
at the Thatcher-Penrose Ward chapel, 11475 W. 10400 N., Thatcher, UT.
Interment at the Penrose Cemetery.

Chavis, Bud E.
Bud E. Chavis 1931 ~ 2005 MONROE, UTAH - Bud Edward Chavis, age 73, died April
3, 2005 in Sandy, Utah. He was born May 7, 1931 in Monroe, Utah, a son of
Eldon H. and Ella Pearson Chavis. Bud served his country during the Korean
Conflict in the US Navy from 1950 to 1954. He married Beverly Ence, January
20, 1954 in Richfield, Utah. They had three children and were later divorced.
He had lived in Monroe, Draper, Kanab and he died in Sandy, Utah. Bud is
survived by his children: Dan Chavis and Trina Ballard, both of Monroe; Anita
Purser of West Jordan; nine grandchildren; brother and sister: Larry Chavis of
West Jordan and Cheryl Chavis of Sandy. Funeral services will be held
Saturday, April 9, 2005 at 12 Noon in the Monroe 1st LDS Ward Chapel, 49 East
200 North in Monroe, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from
10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by

Christensen, Luella Afton Nielson
Luella Afton Nielson Christensen 1918 ~ 2005 Luella Afton Nielson Christensen,
named after her mother's twin sister, Luella, born Nov. 4, 1918 in Ephraim,
Utah, passed away on April 3, 2005 of causes incident to age. She had a happy
childhood growing up in a family with three sisters and one brother and her
beloved parents, Ernest and Castella Nielson. Her sisters are Veone Hunter
(Earl), now deceased, Doris Larsen (McCoy), and Shirley Kilgore (Earl). Her
brother Vertis (LaRue) is also deceased. Afton married Dean Christian
Christensen on June 1, 1944 and they were a united team, accomplishing many
things during their lifetime. She supported Dean in his career in Education
and they lived in Moroni, Logan, Duchesne, and Salt Lake City, Utah, Eugene,
Oregon, Beirut, Lebanon and Provo and Orem, Utah. She was an excellent typist
and typed Dean's Masters Thesis and Doctoral Dissertation on her old manual
typewriter, word perfect. When Dean retired in 1978 they served a mission as
Directors of the Hawaii Temple Visitor's Center. They loved Hawaii and the
people and returned many times for prolonged visits. Afton had many friends
because she loved others and made them feel important. She was always doing
nice things for other people, especially young mothers and those in need. She
adored babies and always made a fuss over them. Her daughters remember her
selfless service when she came to help them when they had new babies. She
never complained but went about lifting the burdens of others whenever she
could. Afton has always accepted and fulfilled church callings efficiently and
willingly in the various organizations of the LDS Church. One of her favorite
callings was Relief Society Secretary. Afton was an avid reader and belonged
to the Acacia and other book clubs through the years. She loved to recite
poetry and sing songs to her children and grandchildren. She also inherited,
from her father, a love of flower gardens. Her husband, Dean, once wrote about
her: "Afton is conscientious, concerned and interested in people. She is
personable, well-groomed, tender, sympathetic and shares her material and
spiritual talents generously. She walks in the Savior's footsteps. She works
overtime to win and merit affection and forgives freely. She is a meticulous
seamstress, having fashioned clothing for herself and her children as they
grew. An excellent homemaker, she enjoys cooking and entertaining friends. She
never forgets birthdays. She is extremely capable but worries about her
competency. Afton is admired and loved by all, even her sons-in-law. I am
fortunate and happy that the Lord helped me find Afton to be my earthly and
eternal companion. I love and appreciate her for what she is and stands for -
a true daughter of our Heavenly Father." She is survived by her five children,
Jed (Kathy), Napa, CA; Sherrie Wiseman (Rick), Santa Rosa, CA; Kim (Lynette),
Springville, UT; Laurie Maynes (Alan), Price; and Wendy Frahm (Dave), Orem,
UT. She and Dean have 27 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren in whom she
took great delight in teaching and helping through life. The family expresses
their thanks to the staff at Courtyard at Jamestown for their loving kindness
this past year. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2005 at 11:00
a.m. at the Sunset Heights 2nd Ward Chapel, 400 W. 1260 S. (University Pkwy),

Drysdale, Kiley Adam
Kiley Adam Drysdale 1983 ~ 2005 On April 2, 2005 our beloved son and little
brother left us and went home to be with his Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus
Christ. Kiley was born on a warm spring day May 25, 1983. He brought joy and
love to his family from the moment he was born. Kiley was a very valiant son
of God and stood for truth and righteousness his whole life. He was always the
first one to help another or take care of the underdog. Kiley was an excellent
student with a keen mind. He was always an honor role student and often
carried a 4.0 grade point average. He loved sports and his passion was playing
football which he excelled in. He graduated from Sky View High School and
attended Utah State University for several semesters. He was an Elder in the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had been an active member his
whole life. Kiley was welcomed in Heaven by his angel sister, Elizabeth Becky
Murray. Surviving are his father James Harmon Drysdale, Denver, CO; father and
mother Mark E. And Becky B. Murray, Hyde Park, UT; brothers Jamey Darrick
Drysdale, Smithfield, UT; Tyson Riley Drysdale, North Logan, UT; Casey James

Denver, CO; Hilary Murray, Denver, CO; and his beloved little sister Alexandra
Becky Murray, three sister-in-laws and one brother-in-law; grandmas and
grandpas, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and a whole large family
that will miss his sweet smile and loving ways more than we can say. Funeral
services will be held Saturday, April 9, at 1 p.m. in the Hyde Park Stake
Center, 535 E. 200 S, Hyde Park, Utah. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on
Friday, April 8 at the Allen Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St, Logan and from
11:30 - 12:45 p.m. on Saturday at the stake center. In lieu of flowers the

Fae Marie Flint 1922 ~ 2005 Fae Marie Flint passed away peacefully at the
Rocky Mountain Care Center in Bountiful after a long illness with cancer on
April 4, 2005. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 14, 1922 to William
Raymond and Hazel Lambourne Flint. Retired from Sweets Candy after 30 plus
years. Loved camping, fishing, the outdoors and her dogs. Enjoyed giving large
family Christmas parties. She gave much personal time to her nieces and
nephews. Survived by sisters Beth Coburn and LaVerne (John) German; a brother
Donald (Barbara "Bobbie") Flint; also many nieces and nephews. Preceded in
death by parents; brothers William "Bill" Raymond Jr., Jack L., and Edward
Wilson; sister Frances Fisher. Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Friday,
April 8 at Larkin Mortuary (260 East South Temple). Family will receive
friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary as well as one hour prior to

Primitivo Gonzalez "Pete" Our beloved father, grandfather and
great-grandfather, passed away on April 4, 2005 from a heart attack. Pete was
born Nov. 26, 1917 in Summerton, Arizona to Nestor and Demetria Gonzalez.
Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and his son Ernesto
(Ernie). Survived by his wife of 66 years Josephine and five children, Ramona,
Pasqual, Mary Tulin (Bob), Antonia Grodt (Doug), Spokane, WA; Gloria, and
sister, Petra Delgado; seven grandsons; three granddaughters; four
great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters. Retired from Kennecott Copper
after 35 years as a welder. Was active in the Catholic Church as a Eucharist
Minster. Dad was an avid golfer and was most proud of his two hole-in-ones.
But his greatest joy was spending time with his one great love Josie, and
having family gatherings where they could watch their grand and
great-grandchildren grow up. A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday at 10
a.m. At Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 715 West 300 North. A Vigil
Service will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. at Neil O'Donnell and Sons Mortuary, 372
East 100 South, where friends may call from 6 - 7 p.m. Committal, Mt. Calvary

Dennis William Grange 1970 ~ 2005 MURRAY - Dennis William Grange, 34, passed
away April 4, 2005 in Murray. He was born July 17, 1970 in Price, UT to Ferris
and Mary Bea Jones Grange. Dennis enjoyed watching NASCAR and riding and
racing motorcycles. He loved his family and friends, taking delight in "giving
them a hard time" and helping them out whenever he could. He is survived by
three daughters: Teaira, Ashtin and Keely, who are the loves of his life. Also
survived by sisters Pam and Jim Anderson of Huntington; Kimberly and Glenn
Huff of Price; brothers: Gale and Claudia Grange of Highland; Richard and
Elaine Grange of Sandy; Ralph and Karen Grange of Magna; Jeff and Teri Grange
of Huntington; Gordon and Kay Grange of Sandy and Darin and Deanna Grange of
Sandy. Preceded in death by parents and brother Michael. We will miss you

Earl J. Hamblin 1922 ~ 2005 FARR WEST - Earl J. Hamblin, 82, passed away
Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Avalon Care Center. He was born September 27, 1922
in Clearfield the son of Ralph and Thelma Olsen Hamblin. Earl graduated from
Davis High School in 1940. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II.
Earl married Mary Park on March 29, 1952 in Elko, Nevada. She preceded him in
death. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
serving as a High Priest in the Farr West 4th Ward. Earl was a finish
carpenter and enjoyed working with his hands. He was an avid golfer. Earl
enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Surviving are one step-daughter,
Joan (Sheldon) Child, Salt Lake City; one step-daughter-in-law, Veva Haacke,
Temecula, CA; eight grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Preceded in
death by two step-sons, Karl M. Haacke, John E. Haacke, sister, Ruth Cook and
brother, Richard Hamblin. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9,
2005 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.

Jeppsen, Allan R.
Allan R. Jeppsen 1937 ~ 2005 Our beloved brother, Allan Russell Jeppsen,
passed from this life Monday, April 4, 2005, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was
born on November 23, 1937, in Ogden, Utah, to Archibald Russell and Viola
Allen Jeppsen. Allan received his Bachelor's Degree in English at the
University of Utah and was awarded the prestigious Woodrow Wilson Scholarship
to study literature at the University of Minnesota. Upon returning to Utah, he
did further graduate studies and taught English at the University of Utah for
a period of time. Allan was a quiet, deeply intellectual man. He was gifted
musically and in his youth considered a career as a concert pianist. When in
high school, he accompanied the Union Pacific Chorus in Ogden. Allan could
converse in depth on many different subjects and found his greatest joys in
reading, listening to classical music, gardening and visiting with family and
sharing the insights he had gained. He had a particularly close relationship
with his brother, Kent, who was very attentive to him during his final weeks.
Allan will be greatly missed by those of us who loved him. The family wishes
to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and other staff at the Medical/Surgical
ICU at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, who gave such outstanding care to Allan
in the week before his death. Allan was preceded in death by his parents and a
brother-in-law. He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Robert (Sally) Arway,
Ogden, Utah; his brothers, Robert (Sharon) of Layton, Utah; and Kent, Salt
Lake City; and various nieces and nephews. There will be no public memorial
service.

Kelley, Raymond J.
Raymond J Kelley 1940 ~ 2005 Raymond Joseph Kelley died on April 5, 2005 after
a long and courageous battle with lung disease. Ray fought for every inch in
life to his last breath. Ray was a loving husband, father and friend and he
will be greatly missed. Ray was born February 17, 1940 in Providence, Rhode
Island to Roslynn Ann Kelley. Ray served in the United States Navy's
Construction Battalion from 1957 to 1961 in the Philippines. Ray married Lauri
Ann Bennion, Nov. 10, 1977 in Reno, NV. They have a daughter, Heather Dawn
Kelley. Ray worked as a Journeyman Wireman for 35 years. When he retired in
1999, he mastered the computer, enjoyed collecting pens and model cars,
reading, and his new Suzuki Aerio SX, to which he enjoyed adding many special
features. He loved driving Heather around town with their dog "Buddy".
Survived by his loving wife Lauri and adoring daughter Heather. Ray is also
survived by his son Kevin Charles Kelley, daughter Renee Lynn Kelley, his
caring in-laws, Ruth, Shauna, and Brent Bennion, nephew and nieces Robby,
Michelle and Jaynee Herrera, and many great friends. Ray's body was donated to
the University of Utah. Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life
and Wake Up to Heaven party at the family home at 294 E. Cordelia Ave. (2890
So.) SLC, UT. 84115 on Friday, April 8, 2005, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

John Elden MacKay 1929 ~ 2005 John Elden MacKay, 76, passed away April 3,
2005. He was born January 27, 1929, in Murray, Utah to Roland Carlisle and
Esther Luella Capson MacKay. He married Donna Faye Goodrich January 14, 1953
in the Salt Lake Temple. John was a very active and faithful member of The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was privileged to serve as a
missionary in the Central Pacific Mission - to the Japanese people of the
Hawaiian Islands, Bishop (two times), member of a Stake Presidency, High
Councilor; and his two favorite callings, Gospel Doctrine teacher and Sealer
in the Temple for 28 years. His first love is his family: Donna his eternal
companion, their six sons: Scott (Diane), Kirk (Lori), Eric (Sherie), Brady
(Hollee), Bart (Shara), and Lane (Cheryl), and his Japanese son Yoshio
Kikuchi; 27 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by
his sister: Luella Newbold, and brothers; Russ and Michael MacKay. He was
preceded in death by his oldest son Scott on April 14, 2002; four sisters and
two brothers. John was a Funeral Director for 55 years in Utah and California
and was the owner of the MacKay Mortuaries and Cemeteries. He loved the
outdoors and his dogs, horses, cabin, fishing and hunting trips with his
family. Funeral services will be held on Friday April 8, 2005 at 11 a.m. at
the Little Cottonwood Stake Center, 1160 E. Vine St. (6050 S.) Friends and

Martin, Leona V. "Peanuts"
Leona V Martin Peanuts "Our Beloved" Leona V. Martin also know as "Peanuts",
Grandma Peanuts", and "Shorty:, was born August 23, 1934 to the late Ernest L.
Salt and Melba Carlston Salt in Salt Lake City. She attended school in Salt
Lake City, graduating from West High School. After graduation, Leona met and
married Alfred E. Potter. From this union were born four children. Leona
worked for the state of Utah as a tax collector for many years, retiring in
1994. Leona passed away peacefully in her home on April 2, 2005 at the age of
70. Leona was loved very much and remained a faithful member of Faith Temple
Pentecostal Church No 1. In Salt Lake City, Utah. In her younger days she was
well know for her marches on the State Capital in pursuit of women's rights,
her willingness to fight for Welfare Reform, as well as taking in stray
animals. She was well known for her love of life, God, Mama, Bishop Robert C.
Cosby, Evangelist Mary M. Cosby, her church and her mountains. Leona was
always willing to give, even when she had very little of her own. She did not
judge and would open her heart to anyone in need. She had a generous spirit,
was loved by all and will be dearly missed. To this day she was and is still
called "Mom: and "Grandma Peanuts" by many outside the immediate family. Leona
was diligent in her love of children and even while not physically disabled,
she carried on fund raising by phone to assist the children at the Tender
Loving Care Teaching & Learning Center. She also donated to many other worthy
causes. She loved to animatedly discuss her love of God, the scriptures and
politics. Leona was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to
many. Leona was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Melba Salt, her
dear brother Edwin D. Salt, as well as four of her dearest friends, Edith
Swallow, Verdell Memmott, Pauline Hadden and Margaret Miera. Leona leaves to
cherish her memory, her loving daughters, Katherine L. Oliai of Lake View.

Fawn G. Mendenhall "Candy Grandma" After a lifetime of loving, Fawn Gilbert
Mendenhall will be reunited with her eternal companion, Gene, daughter Karen,
parents and brothers. Born January 21, 1921 in Whitney, Idaho, to Truman Dana
and Laura "Tilly" Gilbert. Fawn made her life's work loving and nurturing
others beginning by stepping in to "mother" her youngest twin brothers and
ending with loving 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren. Fawn served and
loved the children of the Primary for over 30 years, helping both children and
teachers come closer to Christ and understanding their roles as children of
God. Love was shared with family and friends by time spent playing games,
cheating, eating and laughing, Constant expressions of her love were shared
with her 21 "favorite grandchildren" with never forgotten birthday cards and
sincere prayers. Preceded in death by husband Albert Eugene, daughter Karen

Mower, Thomas M.
Thomas M. Mower 1923 ~ 2005 SOUTH WILLARD - Our beloved husband, father,
grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all, Thomas M. Mower, 81,
graciously slipped the bonds of this earthly presence on Monday, April 4,
2005, to return to the embrace of our Father in Heaven, after a valiant fight
with cancer. His journey in this life began in Fairview, Utah on August 21,
1923 where he was born to Winston and Thelma Larsen Mower. He was raised on a
farm in Oak Creek and attended North Sanpete High School in Mt. Pleasant. He
also graduated from the University of Utah. He married his high school
sweetheart and lifelong love, Maurine Blackham, on February 2, 1942. They were
sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They recently
celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Tom was a member of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was very pleased to serve many years in
various capacities in the church, and continued to serve honorably in many
callings throughout his life. He loved to attend the temple and he had a
strong and enduring testimony of the Gospel and its teachings. During World
War II he served with the U.S. Navy at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii as an
airplane mechanic and following the war on Shore Patrol Duty riding the train
from Ogden to Cheyenne supervising returning sailors. Tom taught English at
Bountiful High School for nine years and later taught many years at Stevens
Henager Business College in Ogden. During this time he raised mink on a farm
in South Willard for 35 years. He also had an apple orchard in Pleasant View
where he raised beautiful apples for sale in area stores. He was well-known in
his community as a man of integrity, hard work and honesty. One of his great
loves in life was his music. Late in life he learned to play the piano and
composed many songs. Tom is survived by his wife of 63 years, Maurine, of
South Willard; sons: Thomas E. (Lydia) Mower, Payson, UT; Dr. Richard W. (Pam)
Mower, Fountain Hills, AZ; Jerry B. (Tedi Jeen) Mower, Bedford, WY; John L.
Mower, Clinton; daughter Lori M. (Gale) Hall, Willard; and daughter-in-law,
Dee Mower, Springville; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Also
surviving is his brother, James Mower, of Evanston, WY. He was preceded in
death by his daughter, Francene Whitecar, his parents, sister, Theli Allred,
brother, Berkley Mower, grandson, Brett Mower, and son-in-law, Donnie Ray

Lenord E. Neilson 1938 ~ 2005 WOODS CROSS - Lenord E. Neilson, 67, loving
husband, father and grandfather, was called home on April 5, 2005. He was born
February 4, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Leonard C. and Hazel Christensen
Neilson. Married Vernalie Mills December 4, 1959 in Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Lenord loved life and his family. He recently retired from a long career in
education at Weber State University. His life was filled with friendships and

Robert John Penman On the Road Again Robert John Penman, 91, passed away at
his home, on Monday, April 4, 2005, in South Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born
April 26, 1913, in Park City, Utah to Hildred Ethel Boulton and John Albert
Penman. Married Winnifred Eschler on March 20, 1937, their marriage was later
solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mom passed away on January 6, 2005.
Dad was a truck driver for many many years; beginning when he learned to drive
a team of horses as a boy. He would share with anyone his love for gardening,
care of animals, and wisdom beyond explanation. Dad greatly missed his
sweetheart and mentioned it daily. He is survived by sister, Hildred Hastings;
brother, Delbert (Bonnie); step-daughter, Marlene Sheldon Johnson; children,
David Robert (June), John Winston (Gloria Jean), Patricia Louise Riet, Judith
Ann (Kenneth) Black; grandchildren, Wendy Rammell, Michael Johnson, Minde

Price, David Lew
David Lew Price "Gramps" Our loving father, grandfather, great grandfather,
brother, and friend passed away peacefully on April 5, 2005, at the age of 79.
The most important thing in Dave's life was his family. His proudest moments
were when they were all together. You would often hear him say," love, love,
love": He always lived by this philosophy. He opened his heart and home to
everyone he met. Anyone who knew Dave knew he was a very special man. His
memory will forever be cherished by all. Dave was born on June 22, 1925, in
Samaria, Idaho to Daniel and Viola Price. He married the love of his life
Bonnie Jean Kent on December 15, 1945. Dave grew up on a farm in Idaho. Joined
the Navy and proudly served during World War II. After working at IML for 35
years he retired but never really stopped working. Dave is survived by his
four children: Claude (Marilyn) Price, Nancy (Blaine) Jeppeson, Debbie (Gary)
Erickson, Jeff (Theresa) Price, 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren,
brothers, Khalil, Dale, sisters, Rayona, Emogene, Evelyn, Nadine, Charlene.

Purdie, Frances R.
Frances R. Purdie 1924 ~ 2005 Martha Frances Haynes Rodgers Purdie passed away
on April 5, 2005. She was born February 24, 1924 in Fullerton, California. She
was the daughter of Howard Haynes Rodgers and Jean Robertson. She grew up in
Fullerton where she met her future husband Alvin Thomas Purdie. They were
married in the Salt Lake City Temple on August 19, 1943. After her husband's
death in 1967 she returned to Salt Lake where she was employed at Eimac. She
started her education at the University of Utah at the age of 47 and graduated
Magna Cum Laude with a double major in 1972 and completed the masters program
the following year. She was employed by the State of Utah Division of Family
Services for 11 years, and retired in 1985. She is survived by five children:
Patricia P. Horrocks, Catherine F. Williams, Bryan R. (Terry L.) Purdie,
Arnell T. Wamsley and Dwight T. Purdie and two siblings Bob and Patsy. She has
14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents,
her husband Alvin, brother Howard, and two grandchildren Mary Jane and
Heather. Funeral services will be held Friday April 8, 2005, 11:00 a.m. at the
LDS 21st Ward, 7570 South 2700 West in West Jordan, Utah. Friends and family
may call on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260
East South Temple and from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment at
Salt Lake City Cemetery.

Roberts, Wanda
Wanda Roberts 1914 ~ 2005 Wanda Ruth Andrus Roberts passed away March 31,
2005. She was 90 and a blessing to the end -- and still. Born Nov. 6, 1914 in
Holladay, Utah to Clarence Loyal Andrus and Ruth Viola Christensen, she was
the eldest of nine children. Wanda attended Irving Grade School, Granite High,
(she was the first female "cheerleader" there) and graduated from BYU in 1939.
On June 6, 1940 she married her BYU sweetheart, Charles Henry Roberts. The
couple raised six children and taught school for 39 years in the Big Horn
Basin area of Wyoming, before retiring to Lehi. Wanda is a member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and always served faithfully in
church organizations and in the community. These past few years she agonized
over her memory loss, but she never forgot her testimony of Jesus Christ. She
never forgot to keep His commandments and express gratitude. She never forgot
her positive attitude and cheerful disposition. Proverbs is true. "... for her
price is far above rubies . . . Strength and honour are her clothing;"
Survived by children, Duane (Susan) Roberts, Springville; Kurt (Jackie)
Roberts, American Fork; Ruth (Jim) Dunn, Orem; Reese (Diane) Roberts,
Kaysville; Maralee (Zeke) Francis, Moab; Gerald (Candice) Roberts,
Bartlesville, Oklahoma; 32 grandchildren (three serving LDS missions); and 22
great-grandchildren; brothers, Clarence Andrus, of Draper; Willis Andrus, of
Murray; James Andrus, of Glenwood; and Jay Andrus, of Price. Preceded in death
by her dear Charlie, brothers Roger, Doug and Stan, sister, Vaudis Swenson,
and a grand-daughter, Danielle Roberts. Funeral services Saturday, April 9,
2005 at 10:30 a.m. in the Lehi 17th Ward Chapel (851 N. 1200 E.) Viewing at
Wing Mortuary, (118 E. Main, Lehi), Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and an hour

Helen Beth W. Robertson 1924 ~ 2005 PRICE, UT- Loving mother, grandmother, and
great-grandmother, Beth Robertson, 81, passed peacefully away April 5, 2005,
in Bountiful, Ut. Born Helen Beth Waterman, February 17, 1924, Price, Utah to
Benjamin and Vera Waterman. Married Dean G. Robertson, April 7, 1943, Salt
Lake LDS Temple. Active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, served in the Ward and Stake Primary, Sunday School, Young Women's,
and Relief Society organizations. Served in the Cub Scouting Program. Served
as a missionary in the Hartford Connecticut Mission 1985-1986 with her
faithful companion and husband. Beth served in the Church and her community
but most lovingly and faithfully in her family. Preceded in death by her
parents, two sisters, one brother, her husband, one granddaughter and one
great-granddaughter. Survived by her children, Karen (Jeff) McKenzie, West
Valley City; Nancy (Joe) Morgan, Dugway; Robby (Ginnie), Fresno, CA; Rita,
Michele, Helen, all Las Vegas, NV; Scott and Mark, Salt Lake City; 17
grandchildren; 22 great-grand children; brothers, Robert and Floyd Waterman;
sister, Shirley Tanner. A viewing will be held Sunday, April 10, 2005 from 6-8

Russon, Mabel McCune Lunt
Mabel McCune Lunt Russon 8/17/1907 ~ 3/29/2005 Mabel McCune Lunt Russon, born
on August 17, 1907 in Nephi, Utah to Shadrach James and Florence McCune Lunt,
passed away peacefully on March 29, 2005. Mimo, as all her grandchildren
called her, attended the University of Utah after graduating from L.D.S. High
School in Salt Lake. She married Kenneth (Kay) Gene Russon in the Salt Lake
L.D.S. Temple on June 7, 1930. In 1932 Kay and Mabel moved to Los Angeles,
California where they lived and raised their family. Kay passed away in May of
1971. Mabel held leadership positions in the Ward and Stake Primary and Mutual
programs. She was very active in the P.T.A. and sewing clubs during and after
World War II. She also spent many years caring for her parents in her home. In
1996 she moved back to Utah, residing in the Legacy Retirement and then at the
South Jordan Beehive Home near her two sons. She is survived by her sons,
Richard Lunt Russon (Carol) and Kenneth James Russon (Janet), 10
grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren. Also dear to her heart was Ed
Borden and Marilyn Phillips as well as many other close relatives and friends.
There will be a viewing at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East,
Salt Lake City on Friday, April 8, 2005 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Graveside services
will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at the Old Nephi

Shurtleff, Helen Clayton
Helen Clayton Shurtleff 1923 ~ 2005 Our dear mother, Helen Clayton Shurtleff,
passed away April 3, 2005 from complications following a fall. Helen was born
January 17, 1923 to David Hyrum and Margaret Cannon Clayton. She was so proud
of her pioneer heritage which included William Clayton, George Q. Cannon and
Emmeline B. Wells. Helen grew up a member of the LDS church on the Cannon
Farm. She attended South High, and continued her education at Strayer Business
College, George Washington U and the U of U. She was a member of the Phi Mu
sorority. She married Albert Wallace "Wally" Shurtleff of August 31, 1946 in
the SL Temple. Wally passed away May 30, 1990. Together they raised five
beautiful daughters. While raising their five daughters Helen worked at
various employments, however her life became defined by the hard, yet
rewarding work she did at Pioneer Craft House beginning in 1957. She truly
became synonymous with Craft House and no one entered without meeting her and
being impressed with her professionalism. She enjoyed lifelong friendships
with the many people associated with Craft House. Despite many physical
limitations, she continued to run Craft House until well past her 80th year.
The Pioneer Craft House will not be the same without her. Helen is survived by
her five daughters Rebecca (DeLane) Hutcheon, Louise Mabey, Marian (Layne)
Wright, Jane (Rick) Herbert, Annie (Joe) Kjar, 30 grandchildren; 20
great-grandchildren; two sisters; one brother and one brother-in-law. She was
preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, three sisters and a
granddaughter Megan Wright. Our family expresses sincere gratitude to the
staff and especially the nurses at Highland Care where she spent her last
week. We would also like to thank Gordon and Elaine Neff for the love and
attention they showed to our mom for many years. Funeral services will be held
Saturday April 9, 2005, at 12:00 Noon at the Holladay Stake Center, 4395 South
Albright Drive (2145 E.). Friends may call Friday Apr. 8, 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch

Smullin, Ray
Ray Smullin 8/5/44 ~ 4/7/04 To my sweet husband, eternal love, best friend,
wonderful father and grandpa. You are the man I married to laugh with, dream
with and love. I will never forget your kiss, your laugh, your eyes and
eyebrows, your love of me and the children and grandchildren. Your love of BYU
football, the JAZZ, and watching your kids and grandkids play sports or
programs. I will miss you every day until we meet again. I will take your
strength, optimism, and love and hold them tight inside of me to use as you
would want me to. You are so missed by all of us. You have enriched all of our
lives. I know you are with our Heavenly Father. You've always had a strong
testimony and honored your priesthood. I miss your knowledge of all things and
being able to talk to you. It's so hard to go on without you by my side.

Steed, Stella Pierce
Stella Pierce Steed 1926 ~ 2005 Stella passed away on April 4, 2005 at home.
She was born on April 20, 1926 to Albert Boyd Pierce and Mary Jane Branch in
Wellington, Utah. Stella graduated from Carbon High School. She married Bob
Steed on July 17, 1948. Stella had a love for ballroom dancing, and for many
years worked side by side with her husband Bob in the Motion Picture Industry.
Stella is survived by her son, Gary (Mary Lynn) Steed; sisters, Loretta
(Wayne) Jones, and Connie (Larry) North and special friend Del Hansen, five
grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
husband Bob, parents, and brother Albert Pierce. A funeral service will be
held on Sat., April 9, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Mortuary, 5850 S. 900 E.
in Murray. Friends and family are invited to a visitation one hour prior to
services on Sat., Interment will be at the Redwood Memorial Cemetery.

Stevens, Lloyd Partridge
Lloyd Partridge Stevens "Together Again" Lloyd Stevens , 92, passed away
Sunday, April 3, 2005 in Sandy, Utah. He was born on August 27, 1912 in
Raymond, Alberta, Canada to David Felshaw and Clara Partridge Stevens. Lloyd
spent his boyhood years in Holden, Utah before moving to Salt Lake City. He
attended LDS High School, and Utah State Agricultural College in Cedar City
and Logan. He married Nola Lee on March 8, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Together they raised five children, built Stevens Cash Market and Nola's Gift
Shop in Sandy. He worked for Walgreens and Meadow Gold Dairy in ice cream
production and as bacteriologist in the Utah State Department of Agriculture
for 17 years. They served as ordinance workers in the Jordan River Temple and
served a temple mission in Atlanta Georgia where he was a sealer. He served as
Bishop of the Sandy First Ward from 1964 to 1971 and was a member of the Sandy
West Stake High Council. Nola died December 3, 1990. Lloyd later married Wanda
Gull Morris. She died February 17, 2002. Survivors: children, Larry (Sheila),
David (Laura), Susan Monson (Dan) all Sandy, Peggy Bench (George), Fairview;
27 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Ann Herman (Ray),
Bakersfield, CA; sisters Edna Gray, Lydia Peirce. Preceded in death by
brothers and sister, son Robert, granddaughter Dixie Bench. Funeral services
Saturday, April 9, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in the Sandy West Stake Center 8680 S.
220 E. Friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary 8090 South State and
Saturday 12:15-1:15 at the church. Interment, Sandy City Cemetery.

Strong, June Engberson
June Engberson Strong "Together Again" 1908 ~ 2005 June Engberson Strong, age
96, passed away on Sunday, April 3, in Pleasant Grove, Utah. She was born June
30, 1908 in Driggs, Idaho, the daughter of Eve & Alma Engberson. June attended
school in Driggs and graduated from Teton High School. She married William A.
Strong on Dec. 23, 1931 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She attended Ricks
College before she was married, and later received her Bachelor's degree from
BYU in 1959. She taught elementary school for 24 years. June was an active
member of the LDS Church and served in many positions through the years. She
especially cherished her time as a temple worker in the Provo Temple. She was
nominated by her family in 1971, as a candidate for Idaho Mother of the Year.
She is survived by her children, William J. (Charlene), Provo, currently
serving an LDS mission in Ghana,, John (Jennie Lin), Provo, Genevieve Smith,
Kaysville, David (Gaye), Palmdale, CA, Maurine (Robert) Miles, Pleasant Grove,
Mark (Jasmine), Provo, Ralph (Laurel), Riverside, CA, daughter-in-law, JoDeane
Ricks, Driggs, ID, sister, Christina Yates, Brigham City, 53 grandchildren and
90 great-grand children. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A
Strong, son, Melvin, daughter, Emma, son-in-law, Paul Smith, five brothers and
five sisters, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday,
April 9, at 11:00 a.m. in the Pleasant View 4th Ward, 650 East 2900 North,

Todd, Ronald Dean
Ronald Dean Todd "Dean" On April 5, 2005, at the age of 74, he returned to his
Heavenly Father, earthly father and mother, and his brother, Don. He was born
April 9, 1930 to Stan and Myrl Rich Todd in Granger, Utah. He married Janice
"Jesse" McMillan February 9, 1954. He served in the US Army during the Korean
Conflict. He was the owner of the S & M Skating Rink for 40 years where he
spent more time skating than walking. After retiring from skating, he helped
his son, Brent R. Todd (famous wildlife artist) with his art business,
shipping, errands, and being his greatest fan. One of Dean's greatest joys
were his grandchildren. He loved spending time hunting, fishing, watching
games and supporting all their activities. He had a great sense of humor and
brought a smile to everyone around him. Anyone who knew Dean loved him. He was
a generous and giving man. He will be missed by all. Dean is survived by his
loving wife, Jesse; children: Debbie (Jack) Lucas, Brent R. (Michelle) Todd,
Tonna (Troy) Syphus; grandchildren: Melissa, Jason, Chelsie, Tyler, Matthew,
Jessica, Brittney, Ashley, Landon and Hunter; sisters: Janice Gustin and Lola

Wagstaff, Glen P.
Glen P Wagstaff 1930 ~ 2005 Our beloved father, grandfather, and great
grandfather, Glen P Wagstaff, age 74, passed away April 5, 2005 unexpectedly
at his home. Glen was born June 13, 1930 in American Fork, UT. to William I.
and Hilda Payne Wagstaff. He graduted from American Fork High School in 1948.
He married Beth Leanore Jolley October4, 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. His
life was an example of hard work and caring for his family. He worked at Utah
Power and Light for 37 years. When he retired he was Chief Dispatcher. Work
never stopped there. Many people have benefitted from his continuing hard work
and selfless service. His favorite hobbies were fishing and gardening and
sharing the fruits of those with everyone. He will be greatly missed. He
served in many callings in the church. He was a devoted home teacher. He and
Leanore served as missionaries at the Bishop's Storehouse. His most recent
calling was that of an ordinance worker at the Mt. Timpanogos Temple which he
enjoyed. Glen was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years and son Craig
Glen. He is survived by his children, Charlotte (Brent) Larson, Brent (Robbyn)
Wagstaff, Diane (Mark) Hardman, Karen (Bryant) Kettle, Steven (Susan)
Wagstaff, and Amy (Joseph) Jacob; 20 grandchildren seven great-grandchildren;
brothers and sisters, Ruth (Leland) Peterson, Noreen (Paul) Taylor, and Frank
(Nola) Wagstaff; in-laws, John E. (Joanne) Jolley Jr., Carma Jolley, Bill
(Sharlene) Jolley, Ronald (Arlene) Morgan, Donald (Colleen) Jolley, Julie

Zupan, Terry Michael
Major Terry Michael Zupan (Ret) 1941 ~ 2005 Terry M. Zupan died on March 25,
2005 in Mobile Alabama, following a long illness. He was born in Price, Utah
on September 29, 1942 to Theodore Richard (Ted) and Maunty Whitmore Zupan. He
graduated from Wasatch High School in Heber City, Utah. In pursuit to become a
doctor he attended many colleges and received a B.S. in science. Terry was
blessed with many talents and was an accomplished trumpet player. He was
inducted into the U.S. army in 1967 and served as a warrant officer/helicopter
pilot in the Vietnam War. During his 17 year army career, he accepted a direct
commission to 1st Lt. and served his country honorably. He received the
Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism while participation in aerial flight in
the Republic of Vietnam. The Bronze Star Medal, the Air Medal, and the 27 Oak
Leaf Clusters were presented to him for meritorious achievement in ground
operations and flying over 950 combat hours. Terry attained the rank of Major
before his disability retirement in 1984. Terry will now peacefully rest with
his parents Ted and Maunty and little sister Lynne Zupan. He was married to
Eva Sokolowski 1969-1974 and is survived by children, Marie Zupan Piaget
(Charles), of Ogden, Utah; Michael Zupan of Carson City, Nevada and Belinda
Zupan Morris of Tacoma Washington. Also grandchildren Kelsey and Alex. He
married La Vonne Smith 1975-1981 and is survived by children, Wes Smith, Kevin
Smith, Ted Zupan and Teliatha Zupan all of Las Vegas Nevada. Also grandchild
Brandon. Terry married Gayle B. Campbell in 1985, and was later divorced. He
is also survived by sister Boni Zupan Losee (Richard Scot), Provo, Utah. Our
sincere gratitude goes out to all of the dear friends who cared and gave so
much to Terry. You will remain treasures in our hearts forever. A Graveside
military memorial service will be held in his honor Saturday, April 9, 2005 at
1:00 p.m., at the Heber City Cemetery.
