Anderson, Marilyn J.
Marilyn J. Anderson 1927 ~ 2005 Park City resident Marilyn J. Anderson, 78,
died peacefully on April 19, 2005 as a result of complications from heart
disease. Lynn, as she was affectionately known even to her children, was born
on January 8, 1927, in Oak Park, Illinois. The only child of Raymond and
Lucille Johnson, Lynn graduated from the Medill School of Journalism
(Northwestern University), where she was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority,
before marrying Robert H. Anderson in Oak Park on August 12, 1950. She was a
published poet and short-story writer and received several writing awards.
Lynn and Bob spent the next 16 years in Elmhurst, Illinois, where they raised
their son Mark and daughters Sally and Sharon. From the mid-1960s, Lynn worked
on and off as a paper grader for high school Honors English classes. She was
known by students for her humorous "emoticons," in her case using a red pen.
During a brief job transfer to Salt Lake City (Mt. Olympus) in 1968, Lynn and
Bob fell in love with Utah. When they were relocated to Illinois (Glen Ellyn)
in 1969, Lynn returned to grading Honors English papers before earning her
Realtor's license in 1976. In 1982, Bob and Lynn retired to Park City, Utah
(Pinebrook). Lynn since worked at the Kimball Art Center, served as president
of the Park City Historical Society, was secretary of the Ecker Hill
Historical Monument committee, and was a co-founder of the Park City
Historical Museum. Until March, 2005, she held a part-time job for many years
with the Park City Chamber / Bureau, operating the museum desk. Lynn loved
people and was perpetually curious. Among her "new best friends" were many
wonderful work colleagues, bridge partners, and old and new Pinebrook
neighbors. She also continued to visit and travel with lifelong friends. An
avid crossword puzzler, Lynn could complete most New York Times Saturday
puzzles in 15 minutes. She had an affinity for animals - especially "that
cat," Cowboy - and also loved a good book, a fire in the fireplace, and
traveling to other states and countries. Long before her first visit to France
at the age of 38, Lynn was drawn to the French culture, from stories of Paris
to the music of Piaf and the writings of Colette. She learned and practiced
French all her life. She loved music, ranging from classical to contemporary.
But above all, Lynn loved each member of her family as a best friend. It is
hard to imagine anyone being more missed as a wife, mother, and companion.
Lynn is survived by husband Robert H. Anderson, Park City; son Mark (Mary
Jane); grandchildren Berit and Evan, Friday Harbor, WA; daughter Sally,
Seattle; daughter Sharon (David Morris), Charlotte-Park City. The family would
like to thank the many communities of friends who have offered their love,
support, and catering skills. Thanks also to the fine staff and volunteers at
CareSource in Salt Lake City for their expertise and compassion. In accordance
with Lynn's wishes, there will be no service.

Baer, Janet
Janet Baer 1930 ~ 2005 Our loving mother, grandmother and caring friend, Janet
Virginia Sharp Baer, 74, passed away April 19, 2005. Janet was born on July
22, 1930 in Salt Lake City to Harold Sharp and Marjorie Elizabeth Dobson. She
married Robert Irwin Baer on February 10, 1956. Her great loves in life were
her children, singing and collecting dolls. In addition to lovingly raising
her own children, she provided countless hours of care to many other children,
especially Joshua, Matthew and Emily Weibel. From a young age, she shared her
beautiful soprano voice by singing in numerous plays, chorus' and church
services, including many years as a member of the Schubert Singers. She loved
collecting dolls and was a member of the Olympus Doll Club. She was also a
member of the PEO Sisterhood, Chapter "I". She is survived by her husband,
children Susan M. Baer, Robert D. Baer (Barbara), William A. Baer (Lesley),
grandchildren Bradley R. Baer, Andrew J. Baer, Aiden W. Baer and Kelle B.
Baer. We wish to express our thanks to the many caregivers who served her the
past few months. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 25, 2005 at 12:00
noon at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 Highland Drive, with viewings
Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital.

Barnes, Byron F.
Byron F. Barnes 1938 ~ 2005 CENTERVILLE- Byron F. Barnes, 66, passed away
April 21, 2005. He was born September 11, 1938 in Arco, Idaho to Alfred and
Dorothy Tracy Barnes. Byron married Bonnie Tilley June 14, 1968 in the Salt
Lake LDS Temple. Byron was an active member of the Centerville 1st Ward of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he had been Sunday School
Supervisor, Scouting leader and was currently the Priesthood Chorister. He
loved to go Snowmobiling, golfing, fishing and had a great love for music.
Survived by his wife Bonnie, Daughters: Becky (Paul) Rose, North Salt Lake;
Brandi (David) Jackola Ogden; Brooke (Victor) Galo, Bountiful. Funeral
services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday April 26, 2005 at the Centerville 1st
Ward, 160 S. 300 E. Friends may call Monday April 25 from 6-8 p.m. at
Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Tuesday 9:45-10:45 a.m. at

Brown, Marilyn Garringer
Marilyn Garringer Brown 1930 ~ 2005 Marilyn Garringer Brown our loving wife,
mother, grandmother, and friend passed away April 22, 2005 after battling lung
cancer. Marilyn was born in Murray October 22, 1930 to Walter A. and Helen
Olander Garringer. She married the love of her life Jack Leon Brown November
20, 1948. They enjoyed 57 years together. Marilyn's life was her family. She
was devoted to making sure we were all happy and taken care of. She especially
enjoyed watching her great-grandchildren playing in the yard or competing in
sports. She loved her rose garden and has left behind her beautiful flowers to
remind us of her. Marilyn is a member of the LDS Church and taught its
wonderful concepts to her family. Marilyn worked for and retired from O.C.
Tanner after 16 years. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Jack; and
daughters, Jackie Marilyn Brown, Teresa Brown Fisher, and Julie Brown
Miltenberger. Marilyn's beautiful posterity includes five grandchildren and
seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Norma Phillips
and Wilma Cline; and stepbrothers, Jay Hansen and Ken Garringer. Funeral
services will be held Wed-nesday April 27, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Hillside
Ward chapel, 435 East 5600 South. Friends may call at the Hillside Ward Relief
Society room from 6-8 pm Tuesday April 26, and one hour prior to funeral

Brown, Merril E.
Merril E. Brown "The Shoe Man" Merril E. Brown, 80, our beloved husband, dad,
and grandpa, passed away April 22, 2005 after a battle with Alzheimer's
Disease. He was born August 15, 1924 in Linden, Utah to Walter Cheever and
Maude Knight Brown. On August 17, 1948, he married Barbara Jane Bailey in the
Salt Lake LDS Temple. Graduated from high school in Burley, Idaho in 1942. He
enlisted in the 101st Airborne Para-troopers in World War II. He fought in
many battles in Germany and France. He was a guard at Hitler's hideout in the
Burchesgatin, Germany. He was honorably discharged, returned home and enrolled
at Brigham Young University; later graduating with honors. Following
graduation, he opened Brown's Shoe Store with his brother, Newell, in Midvale,
Utah. Merril purchased the business from his brother, and operated the store
as Merril Brown Shoe Store. With his wife, Barbara, they operated the shoe
store until retiring in 1982. Merril served as a volunteer fireman in Midvale
for many years. Not being content to "retire," Merril worked as a manager of
the shoe department for the Army-Navy Store. Merril loved his customers and
they loved him. Anyone needing shoes were taken care of regardless of ability
to pay. Brown's Shoes was the meeting place for the other merchants in town on
their breaks - world events were discussed and problems solved. He was a
member of the Palomino Posse, Kiwanis Club and enjoyed his family as well as
golfing, hunting, and fishing. He was an avid reader and always gave this
quote: "Let me live in the house by the side of the road and be a friend to
man." (Edgar A. Guest) He was the world's greatest husband to his beloved
wife, Barbara; #1 father to his son, Marc Merril Brown; daughter, Becky Brown;
grandfather to granddaughter, Jennifer Brown; grandsons, Jesse Lee Brown,
Jeremy Jason Brown; great-granddaughter, Gracie Gerrard; also surviving a
brother, J. Garth Brown; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by six
brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held Wed-nesday, April 27,
2005, at 11 a.m. in the Midvale 6th Ward, 8171 So. Jackson St. (250 West).
Friends may call at the church Wednesday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment, Utah
Veterans Memorial Park, Bluffdale, Utah. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests contributions to the Alzheimer's Foundation.

Buchanan, Blanche Probst
Blanche Probst Buchanan Eternal Companions Blanche Probst Buchanan, 90, passed
away April 23, 2005. She was born to Ernest and Emma Probst May 25, 1914, in
Midway, Utah. She married Richard C. Buchanan October 11, 1940 in the Salt
Lake Temple. She grew up in Midway; later moving to Salt Lake City and
graduated from LDS Business College. She worked as a secretary until her
children were born, leaving the outside workforce to become a full time mother
and homemaker. She was a devout Mormon and served in many callings in the LDS
Church; the busiest being Relief Society president. After her children were
raised, she returned to work as the head secretary in the Speech Pathology
Department at the University of Utah. When she retired she did volunteer work
for the LDS Church in genealogy. Mom and Dad loved to travel and work in their
yard. She was an avid reader and a very intelligent woman. She is survived by
her daughter, Rosemary Howard (Cliff); and her son, Richard; five
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews. She
was preceded in death by her husband, sisters, and brothers. The family wishes
to thank the Canyon Creek Assisted Living staff and Legacy Health Care for all
their kindness and love. Graveside services will be held Tuesday April 26,
11:30 a.m. at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Avenue and N Street. Friends
and family may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E.
10600 S., Sandy.

Burgon, Jeannine Gillespie
Jeannine Gillespie Burgon 1936 ~ 2005 Jeannine Gillespie Burgon passed away on
Wednesday, April 20, 2005 due to complications from pneumonia and Alzheimer's
disease. Jeannine was born to Vernon Lorenzo and Olga Viola Nelson Gillespie
Oct. 13, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She grew up in "Gillespieville"
surrounded and nurtured by dear family and friends. She graduated from West
High School in 1954 where she was a school officer and played on the girl's
basketball team. After High School, she attended Brigham Young University for
two years and lived in Hawaii with some great friends. Work was a joy when she
worked for Utah Idaho Sugar as an Executive Secretary for seven years. On June
22, 1962, Jeannine married Kaye H. Burgon in the Salt Lake LDS temple. She
loved to travel with Kaye and got to see many beautiful places in the world.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
She was exemplary and inspirational in her dedication to fulfilling her church
callings. Living in Bountiful with her dear friends was a choice experience.
One of the highlights of her life was serving as the wife of the Bishop of a
Young Single Adult Ward in Silverdale/Bremerton, Washington. She leaves many
dear friends in that area. Her life focus was her family. She was cherished
and looked to for wisdom and experience. Her loving ways will be missed dearly
by all who knew her. Jeannine is survived by her husband Kaye, daughter
Cynthia (Corey) Ford, sons Todd (Tami Benson) Burgon, Paul (Jill Klemm)
Burgon, Mark (Angella Goalen) Burgon and 14 grandchildren. Other surviving
family member's sister Barbara G. Horne and brother Vern Gillespie Jr. The
Burgon family wishes to express deep appreciation for the outstanding, loving
care given to Jeannine by Applegate Home Care and the Orchard Cove Dementia
Center and Hospice. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday April 25,
2005 at the Crestwood Stake Center in Kaysville, 855 E. Mutton Hollow Rd.

Casey Sr., Patrick Max
Patrick Max Casey, Sr. 7/20/1921~4/21/2005 Patrick Casey passed away early
Thursday morning, April 21, 2005, surrounded by his loving family. Born in
Lifton, Idaho to William P. and Mary B. Nate Casey. He married Helen L. Dalton
May 18, 1949 in Elko, Nevada. He and his brother-in-law, Bill were two of the
first to volunteer for duty in the State of Utah after the attack on Pearl
Harbor. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II and
the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the DAV & FOE 67. Survived by sons,
Patrick (Debbie) Casey; Arnold (Debbie) Casey; daughters, Debbie (Jesse)
Garza; Cindy Casaus, Annette Exon, and Rosalie (Richard) Pedersen;
daughter-in-law, Karen Hansen; 19 grandkids; 37 great-grandkids; numerous
nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by son, Allen; son-in-law,
Elmer; and great-granddaughter, Antonia. He was dearly loved and will be
greatly missed by all of us. Graveside services will be Monday April 25th, at
2 p.m. at Memorial Estates, 6500 So. Redwood Road, where family and friends
may call one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, Patrick requested
that donations may be made to the Patrick Casey Memorial to help with funeral
expenses at the Utah Central Credit Union.

Chandler, Joseph Lorin
Joseph Lorin Chandler 1912 ~ 2005 Died peacefully on Thursday April 21, 2005
in San Francisco at the age of 93. He was born April 13, 1912 in North Ogden,
Utah to Calvin Harris Chandler and Della Luella Shaw. The third born in a
family of eight children of whom Harvey, Merle, Charles (Chuck), Ruth, Calvin
(Dick) preceded him in death and Betty Jean and Shirley survive. In high
school Joe was active in drama and a star athlete. He won letters in football,
basketball, baseball, and track, captained the basketball team, and made
all-state. At Weber State College he lettered in all four sports as well and
in football was an all-conference end. He later played semi-pro basketball on
the Becker Beer team. After college he became a coach and teacher in Carbon
County where he met Florence Child who was supervising a WPA nursery school.
He told a friend that day he would marry her and several months later he did.
They taught another year in Price and headed to New York City where he was
accepted as a graduate student the New York University's School of Retailing.
After graduation Joe worked as an Assistant Adjustment Manager at Ohrbachs,
but it was time to go home to Utah. In Salt Lake City he found a position as
Adjustment Manager at Sears Roebuck. Later he left Sears to found his own
business, The Jack and Jill Shop, a children's wear store which he expanded
into a small chain across Salt Lake Valley. He became active in the Junior
Chamber of Commerce and the Sentinel Club. In 1946 he became chairman of the
"Days of '47" Parade, a post he held for ten years when he was chairman of the
full "Days of '47" Celebration, and continued as chair until 1961. In 1960 Joe
was a candidate for Mayor of Salt Lake City. Thereafter he founded Chandler
Real Estate, a sales and property management business. In his later years he
became an avid horseman, breeding and training American Saddlers then later
Quarter Horses. He was an enthusiastic member of the Ute Rangers riding drill
team and became a familiar fixture at horse shows, horse sales, and rodeos.
Joe is survived by his wife and four Children, Neal, Susan, Alan, and Clay; 12
grandchildren and step grandchildren, Alexis, Brad, Brian, Collin, Courtney,
Gerritt, Hanno, Katie, Leslie, L.J., Michael, Quinn, and seven great
grandchildren and step great granchildren, Anastasia, Carina, Caitlin, Devon,
Mitchell, Quinn, Samantha. In his loving memory they invite you to join them
for a viewing and his funeral. The viewing will take place at the Foothill 4th
Ward, 1794 S. Texas St., Salt Lake City, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on
Wednesday, April 27th. The Funeral will follow at 11:00.

Christensen, Philip Marc
Philip Marc Christensen "Our Hero" PFC Philip Marc Christensen, 21, beloved
son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and best friend, passed away April 19,
2005 at Fort Riley, Kansas. He was born July 1, 1983 in Salt Lake City, Utah
to Marcus A. Christensen and Janalee Shumway Moncur. He proudly served his
country as a member of the United States Army, A CO 1st Engineer Battalion,
which included a 13 month tour of duty to South West Asia in support of
Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was currently stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. He
graduated from Brighton High School, 2002. Phil enjoyed camping, hiking in the
mountains, and skiing with his father. He played clarinet, tenor saxophone,
and bass guitar. He was an Eagle Scout, received the Silver and Golden
Moccasin Award. He loved to write; he was very artistic and imaginative. He
was very tender towards his mother and protective of her and his sister, whom
he adored and took care of. He was very loyal to his friends and cared deeply
of Jourdan. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints. He will be greatly missed by his parents, Marcus A. and Maria
Christensen, Lynn and Jan Moncur, Salt Lake City; his sister and
brother-in-law, Amy Lee (Christensen) and Colby Burleson, Woods Cross;
stepbrothers, Tyler and Brock Moncur; stepsister, Braquel Moncur; fianc e,
Jourdan Cabell; grandparents, George and Deon Moncur, Idaho Falls, Francis
Christensen, St. George; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends, and
members of his A CO Army Unit. Philip was preceded in death by his
grandparents, Roden Grant and Naomi M. Shumway, Allie A. Christensen and
Frederick Paul Christensen. The family would like to extend their appreciation
and love to everyone who has helped us through this difficult time. We love
you more. Funeral services will be held Wed-nesday, April 27, 2005, 12 noon at

Cline, Remo Sterling "Bud"
Remo Sterling "Bud" Cline 1927 ~ 2005 BOUNTIFUL - Remo Sterling "Bud" Cline,
born July 20, 1927 to Remo Sterling Sr. and Bessie Pearson Cline, passed away
peacefully of natural causes April 21, 2005 with his loving family by his
side. Born and raised in Draper, Utah, he frequently spoke of the wonderful
rural atmosphere, one which he loved having shared many stories about growing
up there with his brothers and sisters. Sterling married Carole Deane
Sylvester May 4, 1946. On August 18, 1946 they were sealed in the Salt Lake
LDS Temple. They were blessed with three daughters. Carole passed away at a
young age leaving her young family. Dad later married his wife of 42 years,
Kathleen St. Jeor November 2, 1961. That marriage was later solemnized in the
Manti LDS Temple. Dad was a kind and compassionate man blessed with an endless
dose of genuine optimism. He supported his family as a contractor and was
quick to offer a job to most anyone in need. He gave his love equally to each
family member and no one ever felt slighted. That love extended to friends,
neighbors, coworkers and all others who were fortunate enough to have known
him. Dad spent countless hours with his grandchildren and was loved and adored
by all of them. He had a wonderful way about him and would eagerly help anyone
in need. Dad was a friend to all and all were his friends. He truly was a man
without guile. He served in many callings in his Bountiful Val Verda Ward
serving faithfully to the end. He had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and
freely shared it with all. He leaves behind four daughters, Elaine Mills
(Alan), Diane Beasley, Sheri Graham (Terry), Jill Hemsley; along with three
sons, Jeff Springer (Vickie), Dan Springer (Mary), Brett Cline (Kattia); two
brothers and three sisters. Grandpa was blessed with 27 grandchildren and 34
great-grand-children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Remo and Bessie
Cline; his beloved first wife, Carole Deane Sylvester Cline; and recently by
his second wife, Kathleen Wilkinson Cline. Also preceded in death by one
brother, Oliver Cline; and two grandsons, Britton Cole Springer and Gavin P.
Springer. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at 11 a.m. in
the Val Verda 5th Ward chapel located at 2633 South 50 West in Bountiful.
Viewings will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers
Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and at the church Tuesday morning from
9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens

Coburn, Robert Vance
Robert Vance Coburn "Pino" Robert Vance Coburn slipped away peacefully April
22, 2005 surrounded by family who loved him most. Vance was welcomed to earth
by his mom and dad and his big brothers Chris and Corey December 28, 1980.
They welcomed their baby sister, Brittney, five years later. He attended
schools in Davis County and graduated from Viewmont High School. He was known
to many growing up as "the Tigger", "Vancer Dancer", "Vancin' Around",
"Vinnie", and known most by his friends as "Pino" with that twinkle in his
eyes, that would get lost in his grin. His family grew to include his step
families and little brothers. He always had the most fun. He loved to see how
fast his new shoes could run. He gained great hand strength by creaming
everyone in Nintendo, which later became valuable in his golf game grip. He
had a great outside shot playing hoops. He loved flying down any mountain
strapped to his boards and jumping off the cliffs at Lake Powell. He loved his
dogs Cinnamon, Harley, and Hobie; they knew he was always good for a handout.
He had worked for Oakridge Country Club in grounds keeping to be near the game
he loved most. He loved the tunes of Dave Mathews, Jack Johnson and Jimmy
Buffet when no one else knew who they were. Vance loved everyone, by the time
he finished a transaction at the counter for a car rental agency the customer
would want to take him home with them. If you spent any time with him at all,
you felt like you were his best friend. He accepted everyone as his friend and
offered love and support in any difficult situation. He accepted everyone's
differences, weaknesses, and shortcomings. He always offered his help. He
valued others and reminded them of their great worth by his unconditional love
for them. He taught us charity just being in his presence. He gained a witness
of the power of prayer in his life and knew Heavenly Father was aware of his
struggles. Vance is survived by many who were fortunate to know and love him,
and he will be missed greatly. His family includes his mom, Marsha Case, and
her husband, Craig; his dad, Terry Coburn, and his wife, Rebecca. His
siblings, Chris (Ann), Corey, and Brittney Coburn; his little brothers,
Chandler, Brennan, and Austin Coburn; his stepbrothers and sisters, Jake,
Christer, Rick, Nathan, and Kelli Case, Tiffany Weltman, and Shannon LaPlant.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marie and Bob Nilson, Welton
Coburn, and Lendell Perry. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday,

Cottrell, Vicki Diane
Vicki Diane Cottrell "Grandma Bicki" On April 20, 2005 our mother's life was
tragically cut short in an automobile accident while she was traveling to
speak for the cause she had dedicated her life to as an advocate for the
mentally ill. Vicki Diane Fabry Cottrell was born the second of six children
on September 12, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Charles and Willadene Fabry.
She was married to Donald Ray Cottrell (deceased) on March 20, 1963 in Kearns,
Utah. Together they had six children after which she pursued her Bachelors
Degree in Special Education at the University of Utah. Then, because of
personal experiences with family and mental health issues, Vicki felt urged to
help other families who are going through similar experiences. She volunteered
for six years as Salt Lake Affiliate President for The National Alliance for
the Mentally Ill (NAMI) Utah. For the past five years, she has been NAMI
Utah's State Executive Director with the responsibility to carry out the NAMI
Utah mission. Under her direction, Hope for Tomorrow (mental health program
for schools) and a Clergy Training program were created. She was the driving
force behind the passing of mental health insurance parity legislation. But
above all Vicki was a loving mother and grandmother who served faithfully in
her church. Her other loves included running, gardening, and photography,
taking many memorable photos of both her flowers and grandchildren. Vicki is
survived by her six children; Shane Cottrell, Kerri Terry, Jodi Rankin, Ron
Cottrell, Jim Cottrell, and Jennifer Neeley. Her 10 grandchildren; Cody,
Jessica, Joey, Randi, Parker, Preston, Payton, Elli, Noelle, and Maren. Her
siblings Gary Fabry, Pam Tingey, Pat Nixon, Steven Fabry, and Phillip Fabry
and her mother Willadene Fabry. She was preceded in death by her father
Charles Fabry. Funeral services will be Monday, April 25, 2005 at 12 noon at
the Edgehill 1st Ward, 1735 So. 1500 E. A viewing for family and friends will
be held at the Ward Chapel on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday from 11:00 to

Crowley, Ariel Lionel
Judge Ariel Lionel Crowley 1905 ~ 2005 Graveside services were held in Emmitt,
Idaho honoring Judge Ariel Lionel Crowley April 18, 2005. Born September 17,
1905 in lona, Idaho. His death April 13, 2005 concluded a long life of service
and personal growth. He touched many lives as he served as Judge, Assistant
Attorney General of the States of Idaho and Oregon and in private law
practice. He was a devoted scholar of ancient scriptures and many languages.
He authored many books on various subject, had a deep love for his family and
endeared them to him by his poetry, stories, music and humor. Preceded in
death by his beloved wife Daveda of 72 years, a granddaughter Shelly, two
infant grand sons, and seven siblings. Survived by one sister, Alice Crowley
Peterson (Elden), daughters Barbara J. Johnson (Robert), Julia M. Sorensen
(Kenneth) 18 grandchildren and over 100 great -grandchildren. Loved and
admired by all for his intellect, generosity of time, talents and means,
devotion to his family, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,
genealogical research, hearty laugh, knowledge and wisdom. Condolences and

Ray Lee Drake 1929 ~ 2005 Ray Lee Drake, born November 2, 1929 in Green River,
Utah, passed away at his home in Grantsville, Utah April 22, 2005. He was
preceded in death by his father and mother, Albert and Ruby Drake; and
brothers, Alvin and Gerald. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty
Drake; daughters, Carol (Jordan) Gates, and Janet (Scott) Eggers; sons, Paul
(Pam) Drake, and Alan (Laura) Drake; and grandchildren, Tony and Tyler Gates,
Ashley, McKenzie, and Maria Eggers, Rachael and Collin Drake, Evan and Connor
Drake. Ray served as a Sergeant in the Army during the Ko-rean War and
returned to marry his sweetheart Betty Lawrence Drake May 6, 1955 in
Grantsville, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in
March 1957. Ray worked as a machinist for many years at Stauffer Chemical and
later retired from Chevron Chemical and later worked for Akzo Salt Co. Ray
served in many church callings including stake Young Men's, ward clerk and was
serving as secretary in the High Priest Group at the time of his passing. Ray
was known for his strong work ethic, even-tempered disposition, and
unconditional love for his good wife and family. As his family we celebrate
the wonderful life he has shared with us, while feeling a large void once
filled with a strong quiet patriarch. Funeral services will be held in the
Grantsville West Stake Center, 115 East Cherry St. at 11 a.m. Wed Apr 27,
2005. Friends may call at Tate Mortuary, Tooele, Tues Apr 26, 2005, 6-8 p.m.

Elder, Morris Day
Morris Day Elder 1919 ~ 2005 Morris Day Elder, 85, passed away on Friday,
April 22, 2005 in Salt Lake City. He was born October 9, 1919 in Castle Dale,
Utah to Jesse C. Elder and Inez I. Day. On June 26, 1957 he married Verna
Ingram in the Los Angeles Temple. He worked his whole life in building, crafts
and construction; working on many churches, temples and other buildings. He
loved being outdoors, spending time with his family and serving friends and
neighbors. Prior to his passing, he served in the Jordan River Temple. Morris
served in World War II honorably with his brother, Leonard, and his mother,
Inez. Services will be held on Tuesday, April 26 at Hillcrest 5th Ward, 915 E
Peach Blossom Drive (9085 S), at 12:00 noon. There will be a viewing Monday,
April 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S Highland
Drive; and again on Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:45 prior to the services at

Fox, Alice Caldwell
Alice Caldwell Fox 1912 ~ 2005 Alice Caldwell Fox, precious mother,
grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, passed away Friday, April 22,
2005. Born May 18, 1912 the ninth of 12 children in Dry Fork, Utah to Sally
Viola Hall and David Clarence Caldwell. Married James Lowell Fox in the Salt
Lake Temple on May 18, 1934. They had nine children. Her great loves in life
were her husband, children, music, dancing and traveling. From a very young
age, she shared her beautiful soprano voice by singing around the campfire,
and in numerous plays, choruses and church services, with her brothers and her
children. She left a beautiful musical legacy to her children. Alice was an
active member of the D.U.P. and of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day
Saints serving a mission in Dallas, Texas. Survived by eight children, Joan
Kirkham (Stan, deceased), L. Jim Fox (Judy), C. David Fox (Patricia), Elaine
Maxwell (Larry), Kay M. Edgel (Reed), Dianne Coombs (Earl), Susan R. Everett
(Richard), Kenneth K. Fox; 46 grandchildren; 131 great-grandchildren and 39
great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, her son, Roger C.
and her 11 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held Wednesday,
April 27 at 12 Noon at the Le Grand Ward Chapel, 1078 So. McClelland Street
(1045 East). Family and friends may call Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at

Frampton, Ellyn
Ellyn Frampton 1920 ~ 2005 Our most precious and beloved mother, Ellyn
Frampton, passed peacefully from this life to the next on Thursday morning,
April 21, 2005. The blessing of her life to this world began July 14, 1920 in
Penrose, Wyoming. The second child of nine born to Elbert Roy and Agness
Berthelson Mangus. Although her adult life played out nothing short of a Greek
tragedy she remained joyful, grateful, compassionate and never lost her
beautiful smile. Many who know her remain astounded that she held steadfast to
those traits regardless of her trials which were many. A true inspiration and
example to others. She married Gerald James Frampton January 15, 1938 in Byron
Wyoming. Their first babies were twins, Diane Ellen and Donald James born and
died March, 1940. Her second birth was a son, Bradley Joe born February, 1941
and died July, 1948 of polio. Mom also endured that disease. Next came Gerald
Roy "Buck" born October 1942. He was just 5 when his big brother Bradley died.
Next came Lyle Stanley born August 1946. He died at five months in January
1947. Next came Susanne May born December 1947. In September of 1953 Beverly
Dawn Frampton was born. In November of 1958 the three surviving children
welcomed Kerry William. After our dad died December 24, 1989 our Mom began a
new chapter where she was able to live in two residences, here in Utah and
also Phoenix. She was very proud of being able to accomplish this. She said
she had the best of both worlds. She always had one destination or the other
to look forward to returning to. Preceding her in death along with her
children, husband and parents, were her sisters Barbara, Ilene and Wilda.
Survivors are sons, "Buck" and (Linda) Frampton, Kerry Frampton; daughters,
Susanne (Lindsay) Stens, Bev and (Greg) Soter; sisters, Mae Potter, Loneta
Murphy, Jewel (Ted) Hepworth; brothers, Wallace (Ramona) Mangus and LeRoy
Mangus. A most kind and benevolent Mother to us all, Mom we will honor you by
remembering and implementing what you've given and taught us all.
Grandchildren, Brad Frampton, Kim Heaton, Chet Stens, Bret Stens, Tammy Bayne,
John Glezos, Amanda Glezos, Kristie Soter Jackson, Jake Frampton. She also
cherished her many great grandchildren and showed them so much love. We would
like to thank Rocky Mountain Care Center and Heartwood Hospice for their
extraordinary kindness and compassion in Ellyn's final days. Funeral services
will be held Monday, April 25, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful

Gillen, LaVean Lovell
LaVean Lovell Gillen West Millard's Local Artist! Our dearly loved and
cherished mother, grandmother, grandma-great, sister, and friend, LaVean
Lovell Gil-len, age 80, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2005, hands in hand
with her youngest daughter by her side at the Millard County Care Center.
LaVean was born August 3, 1924 in Oak City, UT to Milton and Mertle Frisby
LoVell. She married Deon J Gillen, a young Air Force man and became a farmer's
wife August 1, 1941 in the Manti Temple. They had seven children together.
Life was simple but grand. He died Oct 17, 2002. Mother was an artist from the
heart; whether it was sewing, quilting, cooking, or refinishing furniture by
turning old into new. As recently as 2004, she received honorable mention for
her wildlife, canyons and desert scenes of acrylic and wood paintings. Her
smile and love for us were picture perfect. Her children, grandkids and
great-grandkids always brought a smile to her face. Survived by son, Clyde
(Dixie) Gil-len; daughters, Debra (Jack) Anderson, both Oasis, UT, Opal
(Gayle) Cluff, Fillmore, UT; sister, Afton (George) Wilkins, Farmington;
broth-er, Clead (Charlotte) LoVell, Midvale; daughter-in-law, Vickie Gillen
Niel-son, Delta. Reunited with her beloved husband, Deon; parents, Milton and
Mertle; sons, Erick Deon and Ronald; daughters, Janice and Coleen; brothers,
Wilford Dean, Max, Eldon and Ray; sister, Marie; son-in-law, John Dastrup. We
hope you have a happy reunion with those we held so close and did not want to
lose. A fair farewell, we will always love you! Your son, daughters, brother,
sister, grandchildren, and grandchildren-great. We will all miss you dearly.

Hansen, Ethel Kemp
Ethel Kemp Hansen "Gone Waterskiing" Ethel Kemp Hansen passed away peacefully
April 22, 2005. She was born December 24, 1910 to Davis Kemp and Lillian
Farrington in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from East High School.
Married Albert C. Hansen June 2, 1934. The marriage and family were sealed in
the Salt Lake Temple in 1954. Al passed away August 31, 1985. She enjoyed many
hobbies including sewing, art, painting, music, piano, doll houses, camping,
boating, waterskiing, river running, traveling, and her friends at the spa.
She graduated from Nursing school as an honor student and worked as an L.P.N.
for 20 years at LDS Hospital. She raised three sons, Ed (Janis) Hansen, Mel
(Dawn) Hansen, and Duane (Linda) Hansen. She had 12 grandchildren, 26
great-grandchil-dren; and nine great great-grand-children. Preceded in death
by grandchildren, Greg and Doug Hansen; and great-grandchild, Staci Hansen.
She is survived by one brother, Keith (Marie) Kemp. Our many thanks go to all
who attended to her needs, especially Brenda, Dorothy, and the staff at
Beehive Gardens. We are truly grateful for their sincere love and care.
Services will be at 12 noon Monday, April 25th at South Cottonwood Ward
located at 5605 South Vine Street, Murray, Utah. Viewing will be from

Hanson, Arthur Kimball (AK)
Arthur (AK) Kimball Hanson 1908 ~ 2005 Arthur (AK) Kimball Hanson was called
home to join his wife Nancy, three brothers, two sisters and one grandson on
April 12, 2005 in Kelso, Washington under Hospice care. Art was born July 25,
1908 to Sam and Carrie Skybera Hanson of Greenbrush, Minnesota. He married
Nancy Gordon in Glasgow, Montana August 2, 1934. He is survived by three
children Norman Hanson of Nashville, TN; Carol (Kenneth) Bunyard of Kelso,
Washington; Dawna (Thomas) Krueger of Wailuku, Hawaii; six grandchildren and
10 great-grandchildren. In his early years he farmed then followed
construction eventually working on the Fort Peck Dam Project at Fort Peck, MT.
He became working foreman for the N. P. Mettome Construction Company where he
was employed over 30 years until his retirement in 1973. He was a member in
good standing of the International Iron Workers Union Local 27 out of Salt
Lake City, Utah. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Burial of ashes will
take place at a later date at Murray City Cemetery, Murray, Utah. Assisting
with arrangements is Dahl-McVicker Funeral Home of Kelso, Washington.

Huebner, Sheri A.
Sheri A. Huebner 1954 ~ 2005 Our loving daughter, mother, sister, and friend
passed away peacefully and without a struggle Thursday night, April 21, 2005
in the company of friends and family. Sheri was born in Salt Lake City May 18,
1954 to John L. and Betty Lou Giles. She married Robert G. Huebner, Jr. May
20, 1982. She leaves behind her mother; her son (Bryce); her sister (Kathy);
and four brothers (John, Dan, Larry, and Scott). Her father; her husband; and
her dog, Sophie, preceded her in death. Sheri dedicated her life to enriching
the lives of others, spending countless hours ensuring that the needs of her
friends and family were met (even when this was detrimental to her own
well-being). Whenever anyone faced a difficult situation, Sheri was there to
help; and she cared not whether these difficulties were greater than her own.
She persevered through tougher times than any of us should know, and through
it all she maintained her compassionate ways and her dignity. Though Sheri
loved to go on vacations (especially unexpected and unannounced trips to
Yellowstone), she was unable to do this in recent years, and this pained her
greatly. Now she's taken her final unexpected and unannounced trip to a far
better place where she will suffer no more. Services will be held at Larkin
Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah, Tuesday April 26, at 12
noon where a one-hour viewing will precede the services beginning at 11 a.m.

Marshall, Buster C.
Buster C Marshall 12/23/1919~4/19/2005 BOUNTIFUL - Buster C. Marshall, age 85,
passed away peacefully on April 19, 2005 at his son's home surrounded by his
loving family. He was born Dec. 23, 1919 to Heber and Pearl Marshall in
Windstone, Utah. Buster was an avid outdoors man. He loved hunting, camping
and searching for arrowheads with family and friends. He strongly believed in
the Native American ways. He served in the United States Calvary during World
War II, worked as a civilian aircraft electrician at Hill Airforce Base. After
retirement he spent his years restoring old cars and working on fix-up
projects. Survived by his son, Shawn(Debbie) Marshall, daughter, Carla Moser
both from Bountiful, and daughter Sally(Dennis) Kreutzer from Chicago, wife,
Corry Marshall-SLC, step children, Marianne-CA, Erris and Tina-SLC, nine
grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, and sister Barbara Blumhagen-MT.
Preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, first wife Jean Wilken and
beloved dog T.J. As per his wishes there will not be a service. Interment in
Stevensville, Montana on Saturday, May 29th with military honors. The Family
would like to give a special love and thanks to grand-daughter Jaimie Reid for
her loving care and constant devotion to Grandpa till the end. The family
would also like to thank Rocky Mountain Hospice especially our angel Teresa
Barnes. Buster lived a happy and fulfilled life. He will be greatly loved and
missed by his family.

Lamond Gurr McQuarrie 1919 ~ 2005 Lamond Gurr McQuarrie passed away on April
20, 2005 at the age of 85 of esophageal cancer. Born December 7, 1919, Midway,
Utah to Lamond S. McQuarrie and Laura Gurr. Married Margaret Crask in Chicago,
Illinois, and later in the Salt Lake Temple. Received an MD degree from
Northwestern University in 1944 with subsequent specialization in anesthesia
from the University of Utah and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He
was involved in medical practice until his retirement in 1994. He is survived
by his wife Margaret; two sons, Martin Paul (Ronnie) and Melvin Crask
(Janette); four daughters, Marsha Lang, Marilyn Barton, Melissa (Stephen)
Higgs and Marlene Young; one brother Howard G. McQuarrie (Pam). Also survived
by 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grand-children. He was preceded in death by
his parents, son Mark, brother Graham and sister Miriam. A viewing will be
held Sunday evening, April 24, 2005 at the Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300
South, Salt Lake City, Utah from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on

Olsen, Eleanor Stewart
Eleanor Stewart Olsen 1910 ~ 2005 Eleanor Stewart Olsen passed away April 22
with her family at her side. She was born in Provo, Utah August 27, 1910. She
attended West High School and the University of Utah graduating with a law
degree in 1935. She was married to Lawrence Swan Olsen for 60 years and with
him raised, as she always remarked, three "almost average children." One of
the founders of the Utah League of Women Voters, she was active in civic and
political affairs. She was the first citizen advocate on the Central Utah
Water Board. She ran for the Utah State Legislature, and worked for a short
time in the office of Legislative Research. She was a dedicated advocate for
women's rights. The passion of her life was her family and the family
homestead in the North Fork of Provo Canyon recently known as Sundance. She
was an expert organic gardener and gourmet cook and enjoyed entertaining
family and friends. She is survived by her three children and their spouses,
Stewart Olsen (Dani Eyer), Eleanor Lee Brennan, Rex Olsen (Margaret); five
grandchildren, Mike Olsen (Lisa), Christopher Olsen (Ambre), Patrick Brennan
(Janice Dole), Elaine Davis, and Davey Davis; great-grandson, Christopher
Porter Olsen; great-granddaughter, Melissa Dole. She was preceded in death by
her six siblings; her husband, Lawrence; her son-in law, Patrick Brennan;
daughter-in-law, Mary Olsen; grandchildren, Coralee Brennan and Aaron Hunt.
Memorial service will be held Wed-nesday, April 27, 12 noon at Evans and Early

Pearce, Bryan Paul
Bryan Paul Pearce 1971 ~ 2005 Loving father, son, brother, and friend passed
away Wednesday April 20, 2005 in Salt Lake City, at the home of his parents.
He was born June 27, 1971 in Denver, CO to Jerry and ReNae Wanlass Pearce. He
attended Granger High School and The Bryman School where he trained to be an
auto technician. Bry enjoyed golfing, hunting, racquetball, and counted cross
stitching. He found his greatest joy in playing with his children. Bryan truly
valued his friends. He was a member of the LDS Church and was especially

those he worked with as a master auto technician. He was most grateful for his

Leah Reed 1916 ~ 2005 Leah Bryce Reed, our "Granny," died Monday, April 18,
2005 in Clearfield, Utah of causes incident to age. Born April 22, 1916 in
Mountain Home, Utah to Loram Riggs and Edith Wilkins Bryce. She was the second
of four girls, and she loved her sisters dearly. Married John LeRoy Reed in
Price, Utah July 3, 1937. During their 60 years together, John's employment
took them to Fairbanks, Alaska; Midland, Texas; and back to Midvale, Utah
where they lived their retirement years enjoying their small family. John
preceded her in death September 26, 1997. Survivors, daughter, Judith Reed
Stannard, Layton; grandchildren, Rebecca (Paul) Rose, Kaysville, Matthew
(Andrea) Stannard, Laramie, Wyoming; great-grandchildren, Caryle (Matthew)
McIntyre, Crystal (Anthony) Figgins, Curtis Collins, Levi, Stephen, and Andrew
Stannard; two great great-grandchildren, Destiny McIntyre and Chloe Figgins;
also loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband, John; sisters,
Lylis, Afton, and Elizabeth. The family wishes to thank the Rocky Mountain
Care Center for their kind caretaking of Leah the past few years. A private
family memorial service will be held Saturday, April 30, 2005 at the
Springville City Cemetery, where Leah will be laid to rest with her
sweetheart, Johnny.

Smith, Josephine Ellen
Josephine Ellen Smith 1923 ~ 2005 Josephine Ellen Smith, 81, died peacefully
surrounded by her family on April 22, 2005 at her home in Tooele, Utah. Born
May 16, 1923 in Delta, Utah. She was the first of eight children born to Ellen
Loraine Ive. Josephine was raised and loved by her grandparents, Hilda
Josephine and Joseph Orson Ive. She met Joseph Louge Smith in Delta, Utah and
they married on August 24, 1940. After breathing life into one daughter and a
set of twin boys, she moved to Provo, Utah. There she gave birth to another
son. Later she and Joseph moved to Tooele to raise their family. Josephine was
a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a great
cook and an expert with an iron. She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Smith
Brannon and her husband Ron of Grantsville, Utah; her twin sons David Smith
and his wife Elaine of Erda, Uah and Dennis Smith and his wife June of Las
Vegas, Nevada; and her son Ron Smith and his wife Carol of Tooele, Utah. She
is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Valerie Durrant Purvis and her husband
Jesse, Todd Castagno and his wife Debbie, Kerry Smith, Lori Smith, Kyle Smith,
Bryan Smith, Leslie Smith, Kayla Smith, and Emily Smith, and Melvin Durrant.
She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Jesse Ryan Purvis, Kathryn
Purvis, Kayla Castagno, Amber Castagno, Emily Castagno, Kyle Gregory, Tristyn
Gregory, Kassidy Gregory. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial
service to be held in her honor at Tate Mortuary in Tooele, Utah on Tuesday
Apr 26, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held 9:30-10:45 prior to the
service. Interment in the Tooele City Cemetery.

Sorenson, 79, passed away April 21, 2005 at her home. She was born March 8,
1926 to John and Rachel Marie Jensen Muffler in Mayfield, UT. She married
Glenn Andrew Sorenson February 23, 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Glenn
passed away on July 31, 2002. She was a member of the LDS Church. She was a
temple worker and also served as a Librarian. Ethel was a Nurse's Aid and was
employed at the Garden Home Training Center. She had also worked at Mountain
Bell Telephone as an operator. She is survived by her children, Michael
(Bonnie) Sorenson, Bountiful; Robert A. (Joy) Sorenson, Layton; and Joylynn
(Steve) Durrant, Layton. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren and her brother and sisters, Richard E. Muffler, Verla Mae
Burk, Rachel Parnell, and Naomi Luchitti. She is preceded in death by her
husband, a son, five grandchildren, two brothers and a sister. Graveside
services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at the Manti City

Stats Jr., Michael
Michael Stats, Jr. 1917 ~ 2005 Michael Stats, Jr., beloved husband, father and
grandfather, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 20, 2005. He was born
January 18, 1917 in Robins, Ohio. His parents were Michael Stats and Ilona
Smee. He married Gladys E. Hasty on July 7, 1940, and their marriage was later
solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on November 21, 1963. He proudly served his
country during World War II. He worked for the Bureau of Land Management for
40 years and retired as the manager of cartography (mapmaking) for the western
United States. He received the Honor Award for Meritorious Service in 1978
from the U.S. Secretary of the Interior. He loved to golf and even after a
stroke denied him the opportunity to get out on the course he continued to
study the sport and avidly watched it on TV. He loved to travel with his wife
and companion of 64 years. They had many memorable trips and cruises together
including a visit to his parent's homeland of Slovakia. His favorite times
were spent with his family who will dearly miss him. His quiet strength and
integrity will forever be remembered. He was a faithful member of The Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many church callings
including High Councilman and Bishop of the Douglas Ward. He is survived by
his wife, Gladys; sons, Ken (Kathryn) Stats, Phil (Kathleen) Stats, Keith
(deceased) (Jeannie) Stats; grandchildren, Deborah, Deanna, Denise, Eric,
Matt, Jason, Josh, Jared, Ian, Callie, Kelly, Amanda and 13
great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Monday, April
25, at the Douglas Ward, 630 South 1200 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends

Taylor, Dolores L.
Dolores L. Taylor 1930 ~ 2005 Dolores L. Taylor,75, a former resident of
Murray, Utah, passed away April 14, 2005, in Camarillo, California. Diagnosed
in 1995, she bravely faced Alzheimer's disease. Dolores was born March 16,
1930 to Mildred and Coy E. Taylor of Salt Lake City. She attended South High
School and later worked on the reunion committee. She worked for several years
as a secretary. Her marriages took her to California, Washington, and
Colorado. She divorced twice, then lived single for 25 years in Murray. She
loved to dress-up and socialize. She liked dancing and belonged to a square
dance club. She enjoyed many trips with family and friends and served on a
homeowners association. Dolores is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Ericson
and Karen Ann Christensen; and four grandsons. Graveside service will be at
1:30 on Friday, April 29th at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Those who attend
should meet at the cemetery entrance at N street and 4th Ave. and proceed as a

Twitty, Maxine Willie Hendry
Maxine Willie Hendry Twitty 1918 ~ 2005 Maxine Willie Hendry Twitty, 86,
Chandler, AZ, died April 13, 2005, of complications from heart surgery. She
was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Maud Hendry of Wellsville, UT,
two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her husband of 56 years,
William M. (Bill) Twitty; her son, Mike Twitty (Bobby), St. George, UT; and
daughters, Nanci Wudel (John), Mesa, and Becky Woods (Tommy), Chandler; and by
her sister, Sara Phippen, Logan, UT; and many nieces and nephews, including
Barbara Haines, of Logan. Maxine's treasures were her 10 grandchildren and
spouses: Brandon Woods (Nanouka), Blake Woods, Tricia Baird (Bret), Robyn
Rickeberg (Jason), David Wudel (Amy), Johny Wudel (Corinne), Chris Twitty
(Tandy), Casey Twitty (Amy), Chad Twitty and Courtney Twitty. She also adored
her 16 great-grandchildren. Maxine was born in Wellsville, UT, Nov. 8, 1918,
on the family farm; her great-grandfather was James G. Willie, Captain of the
Willie Handcart Company. Maxine attended business college; was as an executive
secretary in Logan; and worked for the FBI in Salt Lake City before marrying
her husband, Bill, a career U.S. Army officer. She traveled throughout the
United States and abroad with her husband and children and enjoyed living in
Okinawa and Caracas, Venezuela. She worked for U.S. Civil Service for 25
years, serving as Chief Protocol Officer for 17 years at White Sands Missile
Range, NM. During that time, she received a personal commendation from Colin
Powell, as well as the U.S. Army's prestigious Commander's Award for Civilian
Service. Active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Maxine
served for 20 years with her husband in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Her life
exemplified constant service to others, and she was known for her famous
coconut bread. She was a shining example of hard work, charity and
selflessness, and her family was her greatest joy in life. Funeral services
will be Saturday, April 23, at 2:00 p.m., with viewing at 1:00 p.m., at the
Mesquite Stake Center, 2252 W. Mesquite St., Chandler, AZ. Visitation will be
Friday, April 22, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Bunker's Garden Chapel, 33 N.

Walton, Howard
Howard Walton "Gone Golfing" Leon Howard Walton, age 74, of Kearns, Utah
passed away at his home April 21, 2005. Howard was born October 17, 1930 in
Phoenix, Arizona to Leon Charles and Katherine Peter-son Walton. He married
Geraldine Parkin June 5, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a member of
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as counselor in the
bishopric three different times. He was a member of the high council,
counselor in the Elder's Quorum, Gospel Doctrine teacher and an ordinance
worker at the Jordan River Temple for six years. Howard served in the U.S.
Navy from 1948-1949. He worked many years for Burroughs Co. and retired from
the Utah State Prison. His passion in life was golfing and working at the
Extraction Center. He enjoyed traveling around the country and world with his
brother and sister-in-law, Reed and Glenna. Howard is survived by his wife of
53 years; and his four children and their families, Bradford Walton, Kel-so,
Washington, Teri (Layne) Oliver, West Valley City, Utah, Scott (Jeri) Walton,
Riverton, Wyoming, Karen Walton, West Jordan, Utah; 13 grandchildren; three
great-grand-children; sister, Lulu Jones, Kanab, Utah. Preceded in death by

Webb, Amy Gibby
Amy Gibby Webb 1969 ~ 2005 WEST POINT - Our beloved Amy Gibby Webb returned to
her Father in Heaven Thursday, April 21, 2005. She was born February 27, 1969
in Logan, Utah to David and Ingelise Gibby, the third of eight children. She
graduated from Bonneville High School and then attended Ricks College. Amy had
an unusually close relationship with her sisters and brothers. Her soft-spoken
nature created an atmosphere of peace and harmony. They thoroughly enjoyed
their associations, and most of all loved singing together. Amy married her
sweetheart Lance J. Webb for time and eternity in the Logan LDS Temple March
15, 1989. They were unified and devoted to each other. They made their home in
West Point, Utah, surrounded and supported by wonderful friends. She is the
mother of six beautiful children who learned each day by her example, and will
forever be blessed by her teachings. She gave her children the gift of music
and a deep love of the gospel. Her children were well rewarded by her
adventurous spirit and desire to make everything fun. She was an active member
of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many
capacities. At the time of her death she was the Primary President in her ward
and will be missed by the sweet children she lovingly served. Amy is one of
the noble and great ones, her faith and courage were the driving forces in her
life. She exemplified the pure love of Christ and has tied our family
eternally together through her work in family history. Amy is survived by: her
husband; children Trevor, Curtis, Alyssa, Jace, Dallin and Caleb; parents;

Jewel Meacham White 1917 ~ 2005 Our beloved mother, Jewell Meacham White
passed from this life on April 16, 2005. She was preceded in death by her
eternal companion Alfred Henry White Jr. and her precious daughter, Lynda Fae
White Deeble. Jewel was born August 16, 1917 to Eliza Ann Adair and Fayette
Meacham, In Widstoe, Utah. Moving to Salt Lake, as a child, she grew up in a
loving family of 10 sisters and brothers. She enjoyed her children, friends,
writing poetry, skiing, horseback, riding, and swimming. She held many
positions in her church and her greatest love was teaching Spiritual Living
for about 15 years. She met the love of her life at Saltair and they were
married for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple November 25, 1935. They
celebrated 66 years of marriage, traveling the world, serving in their church,
fulfilling three missions, and enjoying their eight children, Barbara Jo Ann
White Macklprang, Marian Reed, Sharon Eva White Visser, Alfred Henry White
111, Robert John White, Betty Jean Riding, Lynda Fae Deeble, and Bryant Terry
White, 39 grandchildren, and 57 great-grandchildren. We extend our thanks to
all who cared for our mother, especially Terry and Judy. Funeral services will

White, Nada Mallette
Nada Mallette White 1926 ~ 2005 Our dearest, sweet, beloved, mother,
grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Nada Mallette White, 78, peacefully
returned home to her Father in Heaven April 19, 2005 after a long courageous
battle with and causes incident to Alzheimer's. Born August 14, 1926 in Salt
Lake City, Utah to Nelson H. and Iona Giles Mallette. Growing up she loved to
spend summers in Heber City with her grandparents and cousins. She worked for
Bell Telephone Company in Salt Lake City, Utah as a Chief Operator Supervisory
Clerk for 17 years. She married Albert R. (Bert) White February 3, 1959 in the
Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death August 19, 1993. Nada was an
active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served
for many years in the Primary, Sunday School, and Relief Society organizations
as chorister and teacher. Nada loved music and singing. She studied voice at
the McCune School of Music in Salt Lake City where she gave many vocal
recitals. She was a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for many years
before and after she was married. In recent years, her love for singing helped
her through the struggles and challenges she faced. She loved to read, do
needlepoint and cook. She loved her family most and sacrificed much on their
behalf. Survived by her children, Ellen (Larry) Adams, Stephen White, Charles
White, Richard White, Anne (Mark) Gold, Leisa (Kelly) Frandsen, all of Salt
Lake City, Tamara (Steve) Hansen, Montana; her sister, Retta (K.E.) Shelton,
Salt Lake City; 27 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchil-dren; and two great
great-grandchil-dren. Also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Letta;
and daughter, Carla White Oshiro. The family wishes to thank the staff of the
Stratford at Draper for the years of kind, gentle care of our mother. Also,
our appreciation to Inspiration Hospice for their care in Nada's last few

Paulette Joann Wilkinson 1946 ~ 2005 On 20 April 2005, while surrounded by her
loving family, Paulette Joann Wilkinson, passed away after a short battle with
cancer. She worked at GE OEC Medical for 15 years as an electronic assembler.
She is survived by her husband, Willie, of over 36 years; her children, Ernie
and his companion, Helen, Billie Jean and her husband, John, Scott and his
wife, Tina, Tim and his wife, Viv, Greg and his wife, Terri; her 10
grandchildren who were the light of her life; her mother, Della; her siblings,
Carmen, Patsy, Charlotte, and Chuck; along with many dear friends who brought
much love and laughter into her life. We ask that her family and friends join
us at her Celebration of Life Service to be held 29 April 2005, 6 p.m. at The

Williams, Doraine Farnsworth
Doraine Farnsworth Williams 1914 ~ 2005 Our loving wife, mother, grandmother,
sister, and friend passed a-way April 22, 2005 of congestive heart failure.
She died peacefully in her own home with her husband at her side. Doraine was
born July 18, 1914 in Beaver, Utah the daughter of Mildred Skinner and F.
Dennis Farnsworth. She married Ray Kendel Williams June 7, 1940 in the Salt
Lake Temple. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and
friends and their 60th with extended family. Doraine was a dedicated, talented
school teacher, teaching kindergarten through third grade in both the Salt
Lake and Jordan School Districts for more than 30 years. She loved putting on
programs and plays. She was a devout member of the LDS Church serving in many
teaching positions in the Stratford East Ward. She was a devoted wife, mother,
and grandmother and set a wonderful example of courage, optimism, and
fortitude for all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. Doraine was
preceded in death by her parents; her son, Stanley Kent Williams; four
sisters, Mildred Tullis, Venice Griggs, Beth Sackett, Margaret Mitchell; and
three brothers, Ken, Dennis, and John Farnsworth. She is survived by two
children, Lowell Craig Williams (Marilyn), Judy W. Fishler (Phil); sisters,

great-grand-children. Services will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at 2 p.m.
in the Stratford East Ward, 2606 S. Filmore Street. A viewing will be held
Monday, April 25 from 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 S. Highland Drive and
Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Stratford East Ward before services. The family
wishes to thank Dr. Mark Lewis for his care and concern and the staff at
Abby's In Home Care for their services, especially Juliett Wood-worth. Also, a
special thanks to the staff at Christus Saint Joseph Adult and Child Care

Wilson, Ethel
Ethel Wilson "Missionary Grandma" Ethel Marie Revill Wilson, 87, returned to
Heavenly Father to accept her next missionary assignment April 20, 2005. Ethel
was born Aug. 17, 1917 to John and Melvina Nalder Revill. She married Carlyle
Wilson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Ethel's life was filled with service. She
was devoted to her family and the Lord. She lived as an example of faith, love
and generosity. Ethel was the SLC Mission Grandma. Her relationship with her
missionaries was the highlight of her later years. Survived by husband,
Carlyle; children, Tracy (Glenna), Carl (On), John (Sharon), Byron (Vivian),
and Ruth (Kim) Hagen; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by daughter, Mary Clayburn Withers. Funeral services will be
held Tuesday, April 26, 2005, 11 a.m. at the River Ridge 3rd Ward chapel, 1250
West Chavez Dr. (9700 So.). Friends may call Monday 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary,
8090 So. State, and Tuesday 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Mountain
View Memorial Estates.

Work, William George
William George Work 1922 ~ 2005 William George Work, beloved husband, father,
brother and uncle, died peacefully at home in Salt Lake City on April 21,
2005. He was born February 28, 1922. William loved flying. His 35 year career
in aviation began at the age of nineteen as a B-24 co-pilot in the 458th Bomb
Group of the US Army Air Force. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross,
the Distinguished Service Medal and the Air Medal for combat duty. In 1945, he
transferred to the Air Corps Reserves but was called to active duty again
during the Korean conflict. He served in the Air Corps Reserves until 1962,
retiring as a pilot with the rank of Captain. In 1957 he married Irene
Maverakis, who has remained his loving companion for 48 years. They have one
daughter, Marianne Work. As a Controller, Supervisor, Administrator and
Instructor for the CAA and FAA he played an important role in the development
and implementation of the nation's civilian air traffic control system. An
avid sportsman, he was known as an accomplished golfer and deep powder skier.
He skied for 70 years and, until 2005, served as an instructor for the
University of Utah/Deseret News Ski School at Alta, Utah. Among his many other
deep affections were classical music, animals, gardening, and world travel. He
was a life-long student. He is preceded in death by his father, Frank Blaine
Work, mother, Ruth Stringham Work and sister, Patricia Work Jensen. He is
survived by his wife and daughter and his brothers Julian Stringham Work and
Phillip Allan Work. Funeral services will be held at the Wasatch Lawn Chapel,
3401 Highland Dr., on Wed., April 27 at 2 p.m. A visitation for family and
friends will be held at the same location on Tuesday, April 26 from 6-8 p.m.
He could impart confidence when no other could.
