Armstrong, Lloyd LaGrand
Lloyd LaGrand Armstrong 1928 ~ 2005 Lloyd LaGrand Armstrong, our beloved
husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully on April 27,
2005. He was born October 27, 1928 to St. George and Ruth Glover Armstrong. He
grew up on a ranch in Robin, Idaho and had a great love of animals. He went to
school at March Valley and graduated from Pocatello High. He married LaRue
Leyland, his "little butterfly", June 30, 1946 and later sealed in the Salt
Lake Temple. He lived in Idaho, California, Arizona, and Utah. He was loved by
family and friends for his great humor. He loved children and family parties.
Lloyd is survived by his wife LaRue, daughter Terrie (Roland), five
grandchildren - Trevor (Melany), Quin (Kirsten), Gavin (Sherri), Natalie
(Christopher), and Danelle (Travis), and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral
services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2005 at the North Canyon
Third Ward, 2505 S. Davis Blvd. in Bountiful. Visitation with the family will
begin at 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment is at 2:30 p.m. at the
Downey City Cemetery in Downey, Idaho. Special thanks to Joanna and Robert
Overman for their loving care this past year. All services were entrusted to
SereniCare Funeral Directors of Sandy, Utah.

Crane, Elva Jones
Elva Jones Crane 1923 ~ 2005 TREMONTON: Elva Jones Crane, 82, died April 27,
2005, at the McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah. She was born January 15, 1923,
in Evanston, Wyoming, the daughter of Robert William and Elva Eudora Lambert
Jones. She married Arthur Don Crane on May 5, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had
served in the Primary, as Young Women's President, Ward and Stake Relief
Society president, a Sunday School and a Seminary teacher. She served missions
in St. Paul, Minnesota; South Dakota; Papau New Guinea; Brisbane, Australia,
and Tuba City Arizona. She is survived by her husband Arthur; children, Pamela
(Larry) Richardson of Brittany, LA; Cory (DeNae) Crane of Perry, UT; Wendy
(Louis) Davison and Linda (Gordon) Cutler of Tremonton, UT; 16 grandchildren;
17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Rowsell, Patricia Maudsley and Clara
Borg. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and two sisters.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the
Herriman City Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, April 29th from 6 to 8 p.m.
at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton. Condolences

Culley, Marjorie Wood
Marjorie Wood Culley "Free Spirit" Marjorie Wood Culley, age 83, passed away
on April 27, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born on February 27, 1922
in Derby, England to Hugo and Mary Wood. She married Clifford Stanley Culley
and together had four sons. Marjorie and Clifford met on the dance floor and
enjoyed ballroom dancing together throughout their lives. She was also an
accomplished poet, having won many awards. As well as raising a wonderful
family, her artistic talents and creativity were evident in her career as a
cake decorator. Marjorie is survived by sons, Philip (Lila), David, and Hugh
"Charles" (Marcia), all of Salt Lake City; sisters, Shirley Sanders, Betty
Hubers, Mavis Cox, and Dorothy Taylor, all of England; 16 grandchildren, and
numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; son,
Roderick; and sisters, Audrey and Elsie. Funeral services will be held on
Saturday, April 30, 2005 at 2 at Memorial Mortuary, 5850 S. 900 E. Murray.
Family and friends may visit one hour prior to services at the mortuary.
Interment to follow service at Elysian Burial Gardens.

Finau, Petesi Ola Alofaki
Petesi Ola Alofaki Finau 1930 ~ 2005 Age 74 passed away peacefully on Friday,
April 22, 2005. She was born October 30, 1930 in Ha'akio, Vava'u, Tonga,
daughter of Tevita and Vika Palu Alofaki. She married Vailama Finau, and is
the proud mother of their three sons and five daughters. She is survived by
her dear husband, their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Petesi served faithfully in her most noble calling here on earth as a mother.
She will be greatly missed by all. Family and friends may call Thursday
evening April 28th, from 7-11 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary. All are
welcome to attend Friday April; 29th from 7-11 p.m., at the Pioneer Stake
Center 700 S 1300 W. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
at the Riverside Ward, 680 N. Redwood Road.

Hall, Mel
Mel Hall 1944 ~ 2005 Our kind, loving husband, father, brother, uncle and
friend, Melvin William "Mel" Hall, age 61, died April 27, 2005 from a brain
tumor, which he has been fighting for 30 years. Mel was born April 22, 1944 in
Burbank, California, a son of Arthur Wilson and Joyce Mary Johnson Hall. He
grew up in Glasgow, MT And was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints on December 8, 1957 in Glasgow. He married his eternal
sweetheart, Linda Rae Brian, June 3, 1966 in the Manti LDS Temple. Mel enjoyed
fishing, camping, and spending time in Alaska, Hawaii and at Lake Powell. He
really enjoyed bowling. He was so proud to bowl a 300 game in league. He loved
to travel around the world with Linda and his children. He especially loved
the opportunity to be able to fly on Delta. Mel worked in Phoenix, NYC, Idaho
and worked for FHP, Parassilis and Cottonwood Hospital in Salt Lake City as a
radiology technologist. He loved helping the elderly. He served in the
Bishopric of the LDS Church in Phoenix and New Jersey. Mel lived in Chandler,
AZ and St. George, UT after becoming disabled in 1999. He is survived by his
loving wife, Linda; children: Heather Ann (Uhl) Albert of Eagle, Idaho;
Jennifer Kristeen Hall of Salt Lake City; Brian Dion Hall of Sandy; brother:
Paul (Diane) Hall of Provo; sister, Marie Putscher of Salt Lake City. He was
preceded in death by his parents. We want to especially thank all the doctors,
hospital staff at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center where he spent the last
three months, and the wonderful people of CareSource Hospice for their help
the past two weeks. Funeral services will be held Sat., April 30, 2005 at
10:00 a.m. in the Crescent Ridge 7th LDS Ward Chapel, 11000 So. 1300 E. in
Sandy, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and
again Saturday morning one hour prior to the services. Graveside services and
burial will be Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in the Loa Cemetery, Loa, Utah

Herbert, LaVaun J.
LaVaun J. Herbert 1910 ~ 2005 LaVaun Jensen Herbert, 95, graduated from
mortality with high honors on April 27, 2005, of age-related conditions,
followed by a fall. She passed away peacefully at the Jerry and Gay Jorgensen
home, with family members at her side. She was born in Glenwood, Utah, on
January 25, 1910. Her parents were James Louis Jensen and Ella Elizabeth Casto
Jensen. She enjoyed the company of five siblings: they are Rue, Verl, Beth
Sorensen, Helen Hutchings, and Phil. Rue and Verl preceded her in death. She
and Vaun R. Herbert were married in Salt Lake City on December 29, 1930. He
died in 1964. Together they raised four children: Phil James, deceased
(LaRae); Gay Lynn, (Jerry) Jorgensen; Douglas Ernest, (Sandy); and Jana Sue
(Cal) Rist. She was the adored grandmother of 21 grandchildren, 36
great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She and Asa Baker
were married in 1982. He preceded her in death in 1984. Mrs. Herbert had high
esteem for education and found great pride in members of her family who
followed her example in educational pursuits. She graduated from the
University of Utah with a two-year normal teaching certificate in 1930, and
later completed her Bachelor's of Science degree at the University of Utah in
1951. She was a dedicated teacher by profession and served as President of the
Sevier Education Association. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma
International Honor Society for Women Educators. She was a faithful member of
the LDS church and served in all of the auxiliaries. She served a temple
mission in New Zealand when she was 74-75 years of age. She also spent many
years as an officiator in the Ogden Temple, and did name extraction until she
was 92 years old. Her family was her pride and joy. She supported and
encouraged them in all of their undertakings. Services will be held at the
Jenkins-Soffe South Valley Chapel at 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy, South Jordan,
Utah, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2005. A viewing will be held on Friday
evening from 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment
Salina Pioneer Cemetery.

Johnson, Eventa Delores Thompson
Eventa D. Johnson 1916 ~ 2005 Eventa died April 26, 2005 in her home in Salt
Lake City. She was born March 6, 1916 in Salt Lake to David W. and Clara
Rasmussen Thompson. Eventa married her sweetheart Mahlon on Valentines Day,
1936. They had three children: Larry, Susan and Bryan. Eventa worked many
years in sales and as a buyer for Auerbach's department store where she formed
life long friendships including her dear friends Jake, Maureen and Lou. After
retiring, she was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She
loved to play golf and crocheted "dozens" of afghans. An active member of the
LDS Church, Eventa served in many callings. She and Mahlon spent two years in
Texas on a mission and loved the friendships they developed during that time.
Eventa was preceded in death by her husband Mahlon, son Bryan and sister
Lucille Tuckfield. She is survived by a son, Larry (Bonnie) and a daughter
Susan. "Grandma TiTi" was dearly loved by her seven grandchildren and 15
great-grandchildren. Also survived by a brother David (Norma), sister Shirley
(Tom), sisters-in-law Florence, Arvella, Bernice, Jackie and Barbara and her
best buddy Grizzly. There will be a viewing on Saturday, April 30 from 11 to
12 at the Sunset Lawn Mortuary. A graveside service will follow at noon at the
cemetery (2350 East 1300 South). The family is very grateful to the Harmony
Home Health Hospice caregivers for their loving service. In lieu of flowers,

Lamoreaux, Ralph C.
Ralph C. Lamoreaux 1915 ~ 2005 Ralph C. Lamoreaux, 89, passed away April 23,
2005 at Kolob Regional Care Center in Cedar City, UT. He was born on December
30, 1915 to Clarence M. and Sarah Elizabeth Jones Lamoreaux in Paragonah, UT.
He later married his sweetheart Jean Perry on Sept. 6, 1942 in Las Vegas, NV
and on Dec. 4, 1943 they were solemnized in the St. George Temple. Ralph was
preceded in death by his wife Jean Perry, a daughter Peggy Lee Lamoreaux, two
brothers Bob and Wayne, two sisters Margaret and Virginia along with his
parents. Ralph attended school in Paragonah, UT, then later graduated from
Parowan High School. Ralph served our country in the United States Army during
World War II. He enjoyed working with livestock and trips to the mountain. He
loved being with his grandchildren. He worked his lifetime as a carpenter and
a cabinet maker with Perry's Mill and Cabinet Shop in Cedar City. He was a
dedicated member of the Iron Rangers Riding Club, and a proud member of the
Cedar City BPOE # 1556. Ralph was a faithful member of the LDS Church and
served as a High Priest. He is survived by four children, Ralph Wayne (Jean)
Lamoreaux of Sun Lakes, AZ; Ronald Gene (Robin) Lamoreaux of Hermiston, OR;
Dean Perry (Kathy) Lamoreaux of Cedar City, UT; Kim Perry (Rhea) Lamoreaux of
Draper, UT; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived
by three sisters Thelma Jenkins of Paragonah, UT; Colleen Clark of Henderson,
NV; and Eloise Morgan of Bloomington, UT. Funeral Services will be held on
April 30, 2005 at the 9th Ward Chapel in Cedar City at 11 a.m. with a
visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at Southern Utah

Lawrence, Robert Victor
Robert Victor Lawrence "Cowboy Bob" 1921 ~ 2005 Our beloved husband, father,
grandfather, great-grandfather and friend left this life the morning of April
26, 2005. He passed away peacefully at his home in Grantsville, Utah with his
dear wife by his side. Robert was born January 18, 1921, the first child born
to Victor Walton and Lovina Ann Hodgson Lawrence. Robert spent his early life
in Grantsville and graduated from Grantsville High School where he
participated in athletics. He was a member of the "All Church" championship
basketball team. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints and served a mission in the Western States. He continued a
lifetime of service including serving as Bishop, High Councilor, faithful home
teacher, a long-time financial clerk and various other callings. He had a love
and served faithfully in the cub scouting and scouting programs. Robert
married the love of his life, Della Williams, May 14, 1943 in the Salt Lake
Temple. Shortly after his marriage he served proudly in the United States Army
and received decorations that included the Bronze Star and Combat Infantry
badge for his service in World War II in the Pacific campaign. Robert loved
Grantsville High School Athletics where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
He drove the athletic team bus for over 20 years and was a strong supporter of
all the athletic programs. In March of this year, he established an endowment
to fund the "Cowboy Bob" athletic scholarship. He was employed at Tooele Army
Depot as a Fireman, he enjoyed being a fence contractor, a bus driver, heavy
equipment operator, a rancher and above all a cowboy. His willingness to serve
and his love for children and community caused him to serve as a City
Councilman and on the Tooele County School Board. He enjoyed entertaining
children and performed at schools throughout the Western United States as
"Cowboy Bob". His happiest times were performing his rope tricks for family,
friends, and children of all ages. He is well known for carrying the flag at
the beginning of the 4th of July Parade and at the Homecoming Parade and
delivering the game ball. He annually participated in the Pony Express
commemoration and he enjoyed being honored as the oldest living rider. Robert
will be greatly missed and is survived by his wife of 62 years, his children,
Kathleen (Jim) Craynor, Ogden; Rebecca Kimber, Grantsville; Roberta (Ken)
Bell, Farmington; Ramona (Dave) Hansen, Houston, Texas; Larry (Laura)
Lawrence, Orem; Sherry (Gary) Johnson, Overton, Nevada; Don Lee Johnson,
Oakland, California; 35 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, sister, Myrtle,
(Albert) Barrus; brothers, Clifford, (Norma) Lawrence, J. R. (Norma) Lawrence,
Utah (Leila) Lawrence, Chester (Lynne) Lawrence, Gary (Glenna) Lawrence.
Preceded in death by his parents and sister Ruth and brother-in-law Dean
Bevan; sister-in-law Joyce Lawrence; and foster daughter Beverly Perkins. He
leaves behind a legacy of selfless service, hard work, a sense of humor, a
love for people, a love for cowboys, a love for family and a love for the
Gospel. He had a talent for storytelling and enjoyed telling stories to anyone
and all. A viewing will be held at the Tate Mortuary in Tooele, Utah on
Friday, April 29th from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Sat., April
30th at 1:00 p.m. at the Grantsville 2nd Ward Chapel at the corner of Clark
and Church Str. Prior to the funeral, there will be a viewing held at the
church from 11-12:30. Interment will be at the Grantsville City Cemetery. "Old
Cowboys never die they just ride off into the sunset."

Long Jr., Adrian Keith
Adrian Keith Long, Jr. 1942 ~ 2005 "I have fought a good fight, I have
finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2nd Timothy Chapter 4, Verse 7 On
April 26, Keith Long slipped away peacefully from this life after a long
battle with renal disease and diabetes. He was born on September 25, 1942, to
Adrian Keith and Betty Lou Allen Long, in Logan, Cache County, Utah. Keith
always worked unfailingly to honor his father's good name, striving for
excellence in all that he accomplished. Keith graduated from Carson City High
School in 1960. He loved his high school days and friends, keeping in touch
with them over the years. He graduated from the Brigham Young University in
1969 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Keith began a very productive
career with General Electric beginning as a field engineer in power generation
and power systems. Later, he worked in many management positions, retiring
after enjoying 30 years with his chosen employer. During these years, Keith
made many friends and earned the highly respected distinction of being a "man
of his word" - his word was his contract to be honored. Tenacity and hard work
were his hallmarks. On March 5, 1965, Keith married Elisabeth Thompson.
President Marion D Hanks, who was Keith's mission president in the London
British Mission, sealed them in the Salt Lake Temple. Recently Keith and Lis
celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary, reflecting on their experiences in
raising six precious children. As a member of he LDS Church, Keith held the
office of High Priest and served in many leadership callings. He has a
profound knowledge of the scriptures which he read often and acquired a simple
yet unwavering faith in his Father in Heaven. He loved his ward family and is
thankful for the outpouring of support and love he has received. Keith had a
passion for powerful engines. He built a new garage for his beloved Dodge
Challenger, and gave his family an attached new house. He never tired of his
love of cheeseburgers with lots of onions. He loved vacations with his family
at Lake Powell on the houseboat, trips to Hawaii, and most of all being at
home for the holidays with his children and grandchildren Keith was preceded
in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, his wife, and six
children, Tyler Keith (Naomi Ann), Jennifer Barnson (Gary), Mindy Jewkes,
Emery Long, Kelly Lund (Aaron), and Michael William Long; 10 grandchildren,
Natalie, Danielle, Coleman, Cooper, Cameron, Brecken, Mason, Brayden, Kelson,
Kenley; and by Michael's special parents, Pam and Orin Bateman. He is also
survived by sisters, Karen Seraj and Kris (Chris) Steffensen; and brothers,
Daris (Janet), and Jeff (Laura). Memorial services will be held Saturday,
April 30, 2005, at 12 Noon, in the Cottonwood 13th Ward, 1830 East 6400 South.
A viewing will be held on Friday, April 29, from 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn,
3401 South Highland Drive and Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Cottonword 13thWard
prior to his services. The family extends special thanks to Dr. James Stinson
who attended to Keith with intelligence and gentle care, to Christy Robetoy
for her skillful assistance, and to Kristie Baker for her understanding and
compassionate care. We thank Dr. Willem Van der Werf for his life saving

Lusienski, Janice Gibson
Janice Gibson Lusienski 1950 ~ 2005 WOODS CROSS -The soul of Janice Emily
Gibson Lusienski transmitted to a higher dimension on April 26, 2005. She was
born the second of seven children in Salt Lake City, Utah to Merlyn Rex and
Donna Catherine (Thorup) Gibson on April 13, 1950. She attended Bountiful High
School and graduated in 1968. Soon after she married Daniel Jones and had one
son Gregory. After their divorce she worked for Sperry Corp., where she met
her second husband Edward Lusienski. They married June 24, 1978 and had one
daughter, Laura Elizabeth. In 1978 she received her real estate license and
began selling homes along the Wasatch Front, something she loved doing. Jan
often told stories of her many adventures with her brother, sisters, and the
family German shepherd named Sooner. Her favorite ones were of the boys giving
their mom a "special" scaly gift and the great moldy pancake reserve the dog
kept in their many gardens. Family was very important to Jan. She showered her
two children with love and wanted nothing but the very best for them. Her
guidance and light will not only be solely missed by them, but also by all who
know her. She was preceded in death by her sister Catherine, and two beloved
dogs, Terra and Airi. She is survived by her parents; brothers Glen (Linda),
Jack, and Paul; sisters Sharon (Wade) Bevans, Connie (Mike) Mitchell; husband
Edward; son Gregory; daughter Laura; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday April 30, 2005 at the
Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 S. 200 W. (Enter road north of office go west).
Cremation under the directions of Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary. In lieu of

Pack, Merrill Raymond
Merrill Raymond Pack 1923 ~ 2005 Merrill Raymond Pack was born April 15, 1923
in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the first of four children born to Mercy Ethelin
(Lewis) and William Raymond Pack. The family later moved back to Kamas, Utah,
where he graduated from Summit High School. He attended BYU for a time, and
then joined the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a radio operator on a B-17 crew
and flew 50 missions out of Italy in World War II. After his honorable
discharge, Merrill resumed his studies at BYU, graduating with a major in
Agronomy and minors in Chemistry and Mathematics. While there, he married
Donna Jean Petersen, from Brigham City, Utah, daughter or Elva Leone (Bingham)
and Royes J. Petersen., in the Salt Lake City Temple. They then moved to New
Brunswick, New Jersey, where he achieved his PhD in Soils and Plant
Physiology. He then took a position at New Mexico State University in Las
Cruces, teaching and doing research. Five years later, they returned to the
Provo/ Orem area, where he worked as a plant physiologist for Geneva Steel,
conducting research on the effect of air pollution on plants and developing
air sampling and analysis methods. After seven years with Geneva Steel,
Merrill accepted a post with Washington State University in Pullman,
Washington, where he continued his air pollution research, and later taught
classes. He worked there until he retired as a Plant Physiologist and
Professor of Environmental Engineering in May 1985. In 1987, Merrill and Donna
were called to serve in the Accra, Ghana, LDS mission. Upon their return,
Merrill enjoyed gardening, home improvement and grandchildren. He served in
many capacities in the LDS Church, including Bishop, Stake high councilman,
genealogy work, scouting, and others. Merrill and Donna moved back to Utah
Valley in 1995 to be closer to family. Merrill passed away Saturday, April 23,
2005, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived, by his wife, Donna of
the home; daughters, Ramona (Lane) Kissell of Wenatchee, Washington; Marilyn
Bauder of Orem; Rebecca (Delbert) Mack of Tucson, Arizona; and Valerie
(Curtis) Swenson of Sandy, Utah; and sons, Robert (Anona) Pack and Brad Pack,
both of Orem. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren. Merrill was preceded in death by his father and mother, a
sister Joyce (Elwin) Rees, and his son-in-law, Lane Kissell. Merrill will be
forever revered and remembered for his wise counsel, silly songs, hardworking
ingenuity, and, most of all, for this devotion and dedication to his wife and
family. The family would like to express its gratitude for the kind and loving

Poulton, Dorine Vickers
Dorine Vickers Poulton 1921 ~ 2005 Dorine Vickers Poulton passed away on March
15, 2005 in Salt Lake City. She was born in Mt. Pleasant, UT on September 30,
1921 to James Herman and Edith Bigler Vickers. She grew up spending her early
childhood in Nephi, before moving with her family to Salt Lake in June 1937.
She graduated from East High in 1939, and married William V. Poulton in July
1942. Together they had two sons and later were divorced. She was preceded in
death by her parents and two sons, Jim, Rodger. Survived by grandchildren,
Bryan (Kristin) Houston, TX; Eryn Hecker (Brian) San Diego, CA; and Cori
Wright (Don) Reno, NV; daughter-in-law Kathy Poulton Boise, ID; brother Merle
H. Vickers (Chloe) Quartz Hills, CA; sisters, Merci Morris (Robert R.), Ardyth
Severson (Sid) Salt Lake City, Patricia Smith (Alan) Mission Viejo, CA., and a
very dear friend Renzo Mazzoni Camarillo, CA. Graveside services will be held
on Saturday, April 30th at the Vine Buff Cemetery in Nephi, Utah at 10 a.m.

Russon, Leo W.
Leo W. Russon 'Ole' Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather,
uncle and friend, Leo Wing Russon, age 84, passed away April 27, 2005 in Salt
Lake City, Utah. He was born Nov. 2, 1920 in Lehi Utah to Wilford Herman and
Clara Marie Wing Russon. He married the love of his life, Esther Maxine McGee,
May 13, 1944, at Camp Roberts in Calif. Their marriage was later solemnized in
the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Dad was a man of many talents. He was an All
American athlete at Lehi High School. He loved most sports, especially BYU
football and basketball, or anything his grandchildren were involved in. He
refereed basketball for many years. After high school he served an LDS Mission
to the Northern States. It was there he met the "love of his life" for the
first time. Dad served as an officer in the US Army in World War II in
Germany. He worked for Cudahay Meat Packing Co. for many years. Dad was an
owner and founder of Russon Brothers Mortuary where he worked for most of his
life. He later joined his son at Larkin Mortuary where he worked part time
until his death. Dad was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints where he held numerous callings. He was the Bishop of the
Rose Park 3rd Ward, Counselor in the Rose Park Stake Presidency, Patriarch of
both the Rose Park Stake and the Riverton Utah Copperview Stake. Dad served
with Mom as President of the New Zealand North Mission where he loved his
missionaries and the people of New Zealand as if they were family. He loved
boating at Lake Powell with his family, and he enjoyed gardening. Dad had a
special talent as a peace maker with a giant and gentle heart. He was loved
and will be missed not only by his family, but by many, many others whom he
loved dearly. Special thanks to the staffs at Cottonwood Hospital 5th floor
and Care Source Hospice for their special loving care not only of Dad, but the
rest of us as well! Dads survivors include: his wife; children; Judy (Spencer)
Hind, Robert (Wendy) Russon, Janice (Lester) Nielsen; foster son Raymond
Tracey; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grand-children; a brother Dale (Mava)
Russon; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a
brother Milton and his wife Karlyn, and a daughter JoAnn. Funeral services
will be held Saturday, April 30th, at 12 noon in the Rose Park Stake Center,
760 North 1200 West. Friends and family will be received at the Larkin Sunset
Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. 10600 S. on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday at
the Church from 10:30-11:45 prior to services. Interment: Salt Lake City
Cemetery.

Alan L. Schmaltz Our Special Angel "Little Buddy" April 26, 2005 You were a
gift sent from Heaven that touched so many lives in the short amount of time
we had with you. Even though it was not meant for you to be here with us long,
the time we had will never be forgotten. You received more love and kisses
than most do in a lifetime. You were absolutely beautiful from that dark hair
all the way down to your cute little toes. Mommy and Daddy love you more than
they ever imagined possible. Your family loves you and will miss you always.

Sharp, Charles Herbert
Charles Herbert Sharp 1929 ~ 2005 Charles Herbert Sharp was born August 24,
1929 in Marlinton, West VA., and died on April 26, 2005 of cancer at his home
in Salt Lake City. He married Noma Harris in the Logan LDS Temple on Feb. 9th,
1951. He served in the United States Army and Retired from the United States
Air Force. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in History and a Master of
Education Degree from Utah State University. Charles taught Seminary for the
LDS Church for 13 years and worked at the Church Office Building as a
Purchasing Coordinator for the Church Education System, where he retired. He
served in numerous positions in the LDS church and most recently enjoyed
working for the past 15 years as a temple worker in the Salt Lake Temple. He
is survived by his wife Noma Harris Sharp, Salt Lake City; four children,
Marta (Kenny) Heap, Star Valley, WY; Anota (Thomas) Morgan, Roosevelt, UT;
Charles H. Sharp, II (Sandra), Brigham City, UT; Loyal H. (Lori) Sharp, Yorba
Linda, CA; 12 grandchildren, Christian, TR, Desiree, Tyler, Bandon, Chantel,
Jenny, Dorian, Alex, Kassie, Tasha, and Zack; 11 great-grandchildren; Cody,
Tommy, Alicia, Joey, Kylee, Brynne, Halle, Payson, Elizabeth, Anna, and Zoe;
and 12 of 13 brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by one brother,
Jack (Margaret) Sharp; and surviving Earl (Mildred) Sharp, Lew (the late Ann)
Sharp, Dick (Jean) Sharp, Catherine (the late Robert) Baechtel, Craig (Betty)
Sharp, Don (Millie) Sharp, Tom (Garnett) Sharp, Patricia (Joe) Lamoureux,
Brenda (the late Marvin) Doss, Kay (Sam) Burke, Doug (Jean) Sharp, and
Charlotte (Kenneth) Slagle. Funeral services will be held Sat., April 30, 2005
at 12:00 noon at the Capitol Hill First Ward Chapel, 142 West 200 North in
Salt Lake. A viewing will be held from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the ward prior to

Shumway, Marilyn
Marilyn Shumway 1929 ~ 2005 Marilyn Shumway, age 75, of Phoenix, AZ passed
away April 20, 2005 in Mesa, AZ. Marilyn was born May 31, 1929 in Salt Lake
City, UT to Harold and Lottie Wallace. She graduated from the University of
Utah and shortly after married Grant Shumway. She loved working with children.
Her favorite church calling was teaching primary. She taught kindergarten for
14 years at Andalucia Elementary School. She is survived by her children
Norman and Mary Ann Gollnick, Gary and Gayle Fleming, and Mark and Darlene
Shumway, 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held
in Salt Lake City, UT, 12:00 Noon Saturday, April 30, 2005 at Salt Lake City

Smith, Brandon Milo
Brandon Milo Smith 1971 ~ 2005 Brandon Milo Smith passed away on April 26,
2005 at age 33. Brandon was born September 19, 1971 in Milford, Utah to
Charles Robert and Becky (Winn) Smith. Brandon was raised in Bountiful, Utah,
later moved to Centerville and then settled in Syracuse. He graduated from
Bountiful High School in 1989 and attended the University of Utah. He worked
for the Union Pacific Railroad as a brakeman/engineer for about 14 years.
Brandon was loved by all who knew him. He was a good husband, father, brother,
son, uncle and friend. Brandon married Crystal Lynn Oakden, October 1, 1996.
Brandon loved to spend time with his family hunting, fishing and trips to
Disneyland. Brandon is survived by his wife, Crystal (Oakden) Smith and three
children: sons, Triston, Colton and daughter, Cherish of Syracuse; mother,
Becky (Winn) Smith of Bountiful; brothers, Travis Smith and Wade Smith of
Bountiful, sister, Laurel (Smith) Cash (Douglas) of So. Weber; grandmother,
Ramona (Bentley) Smith of Milford; in-laws, Michael and Cori Oakden of
Syracuse. Brandon is preceded in death by his father, Charles Robert Smith,
grandfather, Charles Kent Smith; and grandparents, Harold and Rowena Winn.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at the
Bountiful LDS Church, 115 E. (Orchard Dr.) Wicker Lane (2000 S.) Graveside
services will be held Monday, May 2, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Milford City

Charleen R. Sorensen 1942 ~ 2005 BOUNTIFUL- Charleen Rose Sorensen, age 63,
passed away April 25, 2005 in Bountiful, Utah. Born February 14, 1942 in
Montpelier, Idaho, the daughter of Clarence N. and Clara M. Sebastin Sorensen.
Her hobbies were art work, games, television, and knitting. Survived by her
mother, Clara Remigi, sister, Joan Parkin (Doug) and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her father, Clarence Sorensen, step-father, John Remigi,
brother, Robert N. Sorensen, sister, Carolann Sorensen, grandparents, Charles
and Rose Parkin and Laura Sorensen. Graveside services will be held Saturday,
April 30, 2005 at 12:00 noon at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2020 South 200

Ronald J. Thomas 1943 ~ 2005 Ronald J. Thomas, 62, passed away April 27, 2005
in West Valley City. He was born April 19, 1943 in Hartford, CT to Regina
Ellis. He married Leigh Anne Thomas on October 15, 1971 in Augusta, GA. Ronald
is survived by his wife, Leigh Anne Thomas; daughter, Rebecca Thomas; son,
Randy Thomas; mother, Regina Ellis; sisters, Diane Mascaro, Pat Fazzina,
Debbie Ross; brother, Robert Ellis and three grandchildren. Memorial Services

Todd, Chester Moray
Chester Moray Todd 1915 ~ 2005 Chester Moray Todd was released from his
earthly mission on April 28, 2005. He was born to James Danson and Johanna
Ronella Moray Todd on March 19, 1915 in Salt Lake City. He married Mabel
Haymore Todd on April 29, 1943 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. He is survived by
his wife, eight children: Marilynne (Richard) Linford, Eileen (Wayne) Moore,
Jeanette Todd, Rochelle (Mark) Biesinger, Sheila (James) Smith, Clinton (Lori)
Todd, Douglas (Kelly) Todd, Russell (Janette) Todd, 39 grandchildren, 44
great-grandchildren, and two sisters: Ione Bishop and Blanche Webb. He was
preceded in death by his parents and brother, Fervin Wesley Todd. He graduated
from the University of Utah with a bachelors degree in chemistry and a masters
degree in psychology. He served in World War II at several bases in the U.S.
and also in the Philippine Islands. He continued to serve the country he loved
in the Army Reserves and retired as a colonel. He was a teacher and principal
in Granite School District for 37 years. He was principal at four elementary
schools- Cyprus, Whittier, Oakwood, and Libby Edward, two junior high schools-
Evergreen and Churchill, and at Granger High School. He enjoyed a lifelong
hobby raising chickens and racing homing pigeons. He faithfully served in many
callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints, including bishop
of the Nibley Park Ward, and counselor in the presidency of the Granite Stake.
Chester served with Mabel as missionaries at the Mormon Battalion Visitors
Center in San Diego, CA, as guides on Temple Square, and as ordinance workers
in the Salt Lake Temple. At his 90th birthday party, when his children (both
by birth and by marriage), grandchildren, great-grand-children, and friends
gathered to celebrate his life, he remarked that life had been good to him.
The assembled group knew it was because he had been good to them. A viewing
will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2005 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland
Dr. from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be Monday, May 2, in the Nibley Park
Ward, 2450 South 600 East, at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will also be held an hour
before the services at the ward. Our heartfelt thanks to the Lakeview Hospital
staff and the wonderful nurses from Vista Care.
