Clyde Gammell, Louise Louise Clyde Gammell 1924 ~ 2005 Louise Clyde Gammell passed away August 12, 2005 from natural causes. I was born at home October 8, 1924 in Springville, Utah, a daughter of Wilford W. and Jennie Palfreyman Clyde. I attended school in Springville, graduating from Springville High School in 1942. I was interested in music and played the piano for school programs beginning in third grade. While in junior high, I learned to play the accordion and entertained for numerous clubs and other programs. I also played the pipe organ for church services and the piano for high school musicals and choruses. I continued to study piano at the University of Utah. I graduated from the U of U with a BS degree in Business Management and played Rachmaninoff s Concerto in B# Minor with the university orchestra at the graduation ceremonies. I was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. I married my college sweetheart, Blake Hansen Gammell, July 1, 1946 in the Logan Temple and had a beautiful garden wedding at my parent's home. We moved to Los Angeles, California while my husband attended dental school at the University of Southern California. In 1947, we moved back to Springville where my husband began his dental practice. During our marriage, five children were born. With much heartache, our second son, Bill, was afflicted with Ewing Sarcoma (bone cancer). Blake and I sought the best care and treatment all over the United States. Bill passed away September 6, 1967 after 81/2 years of our care. On March 7, 1968, a son, John, was born severely mentally handicapped. I devoted a great deal of time and therapy to John. I loved parties and loved to get dressed up. I loved to entertain family and friends in my home. I loved my parents, brothers, and sisters and always enjoyed family get-togethers. I had many close friends all through my life, still getting together with high school friends. I had a sense of humor and always loved to hear and tell a good story. I have a great testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was a faithful organist for all organizations of the Church and also a teacher. I loved my visiting teaching calling for many years and became good friends with all I visited. I loved my family dearly. Louise was a devoted mother and wife to her husband and children. Her husband and children always came first in her life so she had little time left for music and community affairs. She is survived by her husband, Blake of Springville; a son, B. Clyde (Gayle) Gammell of Mapleton, UT; a daughter, Mary Louise (Don) Winkler of Sandy, UT; a son, Ray (Lori) Gammell of Mapleton, UT; a son, John Scott Gammell of Springville, UT; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grand-children. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son; and siblings, Cornell, Blaine, William (Bill) Clyde, Ila Cook and Carol Salisbury. Rees, Charlene Deem (Whitaker) Charlene W. Rees 1916 ~ 2005 ROY - Charlene Whitaker Deem Rees, our dear mother, returned to Our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 10, 2005. Mom was born the third child of Lewis Eugene and Emma Charlotte Cole Whitaker on November 27, 1916 at the home of her grandparents in Willard, Utah. Mom was raised in Promontory, Utah, on the family's dry farm. As a teenager, mom spent the school years living with families in Brigham City, working her way through high school. Mom graduated from Box Elder High School in 1935. Mom married Justin Kimball Deem on November 21, 1935. They spent 37 years together before he passed away on October 14, 1972. They lived in Ogden, Utah; Idaho; California; Oregon; Colorado; and returned to Utah in 1946 settling in Willard, Utah. Mom always felt Willard was home and kept in touch with friends there after she moved to Roy in 1993. Mom married John Hansen Rees of Willard in Elko, Nevada on March 6, 1978. Mom and John enjoyed each other's company and traveled every winter to Arizona; California, and Mexico prior to settling in Circle City, Arizona and then in St. George. John passed away July 28, 1995. Mom started working at the Willard, Utah Post Office as the Clerk in 1959 and was appointed Post Master May 1, 1973, serving in that position until her retirement August 10, 1979. Mom was a very strong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She taught us through her example, to love the Lord and be thankful for his love and blessings. Mom spent over 25 years serving in the primary, many years in the Relief Society and was a visiting teacher for almost 50 years. One of moms greatest joys was attending the Temple which she did on a regular basis. Mom's life was full of service to others. Mom was very proud of her 37 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren, each knew they were "grandma's favorite". Through life, some of us were lucky enough to gain children through marriage and each and every one of these additions was fully counted as a member of mom's family. Mom's heart was big enough for all of us. Mom is survived by her brothers, sisters, and in-laws Lilly Whitaker Littlefield of So. Jordan; Arnold Whitaker of Bear River City; Maxine Nelson of Layton; Norma and Harold Larsen of Brigham City; Darwin and Arloa Whitaker of St. George; LaVar and Colleen Whitaker of Concord, California; Florence Whitaker of Farr West; Lucille Deem of Huntsville and her numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Justin and John, her son Curtis L, her grandson Jeffery Lynn Deem and her brothers Edward and Jarvis Whitaker. Mother was a very independent lady and she lived alone taking care of her needs almost to the end of her life. Each of us wanted mom to come and live with us, but mom would say; "that's not my way - I need to stay home as long as I can." We love you Mother and miss you already. We would like to very sincerely thank those who took such wonderful care of our mother, Dr. Gary Christensen, whom she adored. The wonderful people at McKay Dee Hospital; moms grandson-in-law Dr. Robert Ziegler, Dr Milavetz, Dr. Baumann, her nurse Jeff Goss, and social worker Brandy.
