Bell, Moleta Moleta Bell "Grandma " Our mother, loving grandmother, and dear friend, Moleta Orme Bell, 92, died August 23, 2005, in Murray, Utah. Born September 22, 1912 to Joseph and Vivian Chapman Orme in Honeyville, Utah. She always said that was why she was so sweet. Married Adelbert Franklin (Dell) Bell, November 29, 1930, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the love of her life. Together they had three children, Jerrolynn, Delbert (Lee), and an infant son who died at birth. Moleta loved and trusted her children and was proud of all of their many accomplishments. She delighted in time spent with her family and waited eagerly for their visits. She often shared sound advice and found solutions for problems, large or small. For many years, she co-owned and operated Doc & Dell's Trailer Motel in Murray until she finally retired at the age of 85 and moved to a home she bought and remodeled in Sandy. She moved back to Murray to live with her granddaughter's family for the final year of her life. Moleta enjoyed gambling or a good card game and was a bowler, fisherwoman, and avid reader, until she lost her eyesight several years ago. The books on tape provided by the Library for the Blind were a blessing in her later years. She especially enjoyed Mexican food and rarely skipped dessert. She was kind to animals although deathly afraid of snakes. She enjoyed her travels around the world, and often told tales of her visits to Spain, Africa, Ireland, the Rock of Gilbralter, and 38 states, including Hawaii with her dear sweetheart in 1965, and fishing in Alaska when she was nearly 80. She was a loyal friend. Her mind was alert to the end. She mourned deeply the loss of her loved ones. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, brothers and sisters and survived by her daughter, Jeri (Bill) Jensen, Murray; son, Lee (Judy), Mesquite; six grandchildren, 15 great-grand-children, one great-great-grandson and another great-great grandchild expected soon. Heal, Gilbert Harrison "Big Scott" Gilbert Harrison Heal "Big Scott" Gilbert Harrison Heal, husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, raconteur, gourmet cook, joke teller, golfer, sports fan, reader, music lover, advisor, carpenter, Vietnam Veteran, and child advocate, died peacefully in his sleep Monday, August 22 after a long illness. Scott graduated from Murray High School in 1966 and served as senior class president. He married Rebecca Terry on August 30, 1987. He is survived by his wife, son Baxter Harrison Heal; stepson Patrick Dylan Zwick; and sisters Linda Heal; Molly Davis (Reid); and Julie Larson (Kerry). He is preceded in death by his father Edwin L. (Ted) Heal and his mother Donna Harrison Heal. Scott served in Vietnam, as a Small Arms Infantry Sergeant, from May 1968 to May 1969. Sharp, skeptical, and well-read, Scott had a keen intellect and loved to engage in lively debates and conversations. His fires burned whether talking sports, politics, religion, books, music, or food. No subject was off limits, and he always spoke his mind - intensely and hilariously. He detested insincerity and dishonesty. He could laugh, and also become enraged, at life's hypocrisies. Scott was truly a lovable curmudgeon. And then there were the feasts at Scott's house. If you ever had the privilege of sitting down to a meal prepared by him, it's one you would not soon forget. The man could cook with the best of 'em. He was a gracious host. Always. Scott was passionate about music and spent part of his life managing record stores. He was constantly exploring different bands and artists. He would pass on what he deemed was great (The Stones, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, John Lennon, Harry Nilsson) and he was always right. It was the same with literature. He loved to quote free thinkers like Mark Twain, H.L. Mencken, Ambrose Bierce, and Charles Bukowski. Scott was a loving husband, father, and brother. Above all, Scott adored children. His eyes would light up whenever they came to visit. And kids loved Scott. He was an extraordinarily giving, patient, and protective father. He taught his sons valuable lessons. His nephews and nieces were also greatly influenced by him. His legacy is this: His joie de vivre was an incredible example of making the most of life no matter what it throws at you. So long, Big Scott. You were a classic, one of a kind guy and will be missed far more than any words here can convey. Your big heart will carry on in all of ours. Services will be held Friday, August 26 at the First Unitarian Church, 569 South 1300 East, at 4 p.m. Please park in the Friendship Manor parking lot just north of the church. We will gather to celebrate Scott's life after the services at his home, 4749 South 2555 East in Holladay. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Disabled American Veterans, 273 East 800 South, SLC, UT 84111. I have perceived that to be with those I like is enough, To stop in company with the rest at evening is enough, To be surrounded by beautiful, curious, breathing, laughing flesh is enough, To pass among them or touch any one, or rest my arm ever so lightly round his or her neck for a moment -- what is this then? I do not ask any more delight... I swim in it as in a sea. -- Walt Whitman (I Sing the Body Electric) Published in the Deseret News from 8/25/2005 - 8/26/2005.
