She had fought a courageous four-year battle with colon cancer. She was born May 21, 1962 to Ronald Davis and Marian Gerstner Venema in Salt Lake City, Utah, the eighth of 11 children. On March 23, 1985 she married Ron Allred and moved to Rocky Ridge, Utah, where they built their lives together for the past 20 years. There she served joyfully in the Primary and in the Young Women's Organizations and was a friend to all. Her children meant the world to her. Even while suffering herself, she put her two youngest children, who have life-threatening illnesses, first. Rosalin is survived by her devoted husband, Ron; five sons: Stewart, Anthony, Nathan, Joel, William; three daughters: Abigail, Kimberly, Susannah; cherished mother, Marian; seven sisters: Gailan, Patience, Lorrie, Marian, Rosalie (her twin), Lisa, Francine; three brothers: Arlynn, Sterling, Nathan; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Astill, Deon Bishop Deon Bishop Astill 1915 ~ 2005 Deon Bishop Astill passed away on November 29, 2005 from causes incident to age. Deon was born March 21, 1915 in Hinckley, Utah to Marion and Geneva Bishop. Deon was the eldest of five children and is survived by three siblings: Elaine Pectol, Kay Bishop and Beverly Smith. Deon had five children and leaves behind four sons: Gary (Dorothy), Jerry, Mark (Helen), and Randy. Deon's only daughter, Bonnie, died as an infant. She has 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Deon married Melvin A. Astill on February 14, 1940 and spent her life raising her family in Sugarhouse. Mel died in 1965. Mel and Deon were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple before his death. Deon was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Deon worked for many years at Walgreen's and Crossroads Drug. Deon loved to meet and talk to people in her work. In her younger days Deon loved to dance and enjoyed being the center of attention. Before moving to Salt Lake as a young woman, Deon attended college in Cedar City and was once the lead in a Shakespeare play. She worked one summer at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and always spoke fondly of those happy times. The family would like to thank the staff of the Pine Ridge Care Center and the Life Path Hospice who made Deon's life easier in the final years of her life. He married Billie Sue McGraw, later divorced. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping. He worked around the world, in Hawaii, Alaska and Africa. He is survived by mother, Saundra Bagley of San Antonio; son, Dustan Bagley, daughter, Amber Valdez, step-daughters Taya, Toni and Tiffany McGraw; brothers, Darrell of Reno; Devlin (Jessie); sisters, Diana (Kim), Donna, Darla (Scott). six grandchildren, two nieces, one nephew. Bond, Kimberly Ridge Kimberly Ridge Bond 1956 ~ 2005 Kimberly Jean Ridge Bond, 49, passed away December 2, 2005 at her home in Pleasant Grove. She was born June 20, 1956 in Provo, Utah to John William and Marjorie Jean Haddock Ridge. She married Scott J. Bond December 27, 1978 in the Manti LDS Temple. Kimberly was a selfless person who will be missed by those whom she served and who had the blessing of serving her. She remains our loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her husband, Scott, her four children: Jeff, Erek (Charlene), Jason, and Sarah. Also by her brother Jeffrey Ridge (Diane) and their family and her sister-in-law Terri Ridge and her family. She was preceded by her parents and her brother Richard. Clyde, Hazel Arlene Savage Hazel Arlene Savage Clyde 12/24/17~11/27/05 Our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, Hazel Arlene Savage Clyde, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2005 joining her eternal companion William (Bill) Russell Clyde who passed away on December 22, 2002. She was born December 24, 1917 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John LeRoy Savage and Anna Helena Hedman Savage. Hazel graduated from Springville High school in 1936. She married Bill on June 24, 1938 in Tooele, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, Hazel and Bill spent their lives in Springville, Utah enjoying their eight children, 46 grandchildren, and 69 great-grandchildren. Hazel spent many hours serving others in church callings, 4-H, the community and as a friend. Hazel was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and a former member of the Pari Passu Club and the Musettes. She enjoyed square dancing and participating in community plays. Later in life Hazel and Bill traveled with dear friends to visit family throughout the United States, Canada, and Asia. Hazel was a gifted homemaker. She loved to sew, quilt, can and bake. Hazel loved to spend time in her beautiful gardens. She loved a productive fruit tree, a bountiful harvest and a blossoming rose bush. She listened patiently, chided playfully, instructed wisely, reprimanded sternly, and loved eternally. At her home there was always an extra bed, an extra plate, and an extra hug. There was always enough Jello, enough cake, and enough cream for all. No one was ever turned away. Her love for her Heavenly Father permeated every aspect of her life. Hazel had charity for every soul. Not only a beloved mother, Hazel was a dear, dear friend. We loved her and she will be missed. Hazel is survived by her children, Wilford Russell (Anne), Harold Leon (Aty), Marietta (Norman) Young, Joan (Ross) Whicker, William Dale (Ellen), Steven LeRoy (Pam), Helene (Larry) Arnett, and Warren Dean (Cindy), as well as all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Forbush 1913 ~ 2005 MONROE, Utah - Ruth Marie Jepsen Forbush, 91 passed away peacefully November 30, 2005 at the home of her daughter in Richfield, Utah. She was born December 23, 1913 in Richfield to Alfred Raymond and Nellie Ammon Potter Jepsen. She married Ray Forbush, December 12, 1934 in Richfield. He passed away Nov. 18, 1982 and the marriage was solemnized July 31, 1985 in the Jordan River Temple. At the age of 38, she joined the LDS Church and worked in the Primary. She served a mission at the Geneology Building and the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City. She was a nurse at Primary Children's Hospital. An avid reader she was active in the community and was a member of the Monroe Literose Club. She also loved to do handwork. Garner 1930 ~ 2005 CLIFTON, IDAHO- Gary T Garner, 74, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, peacefully at his home in Clifton, Idaho, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on Dec. 15, 1930, in Teton, Idaho, the son of Arvilla Chloe Terry and Francis Marion Garner. He married and was sealed for time and all eternity to Nola Smart on Sept. 24, 1962, in the Logan Temple. They made their home in Salt Lake City, Utah for 20 years. He was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force from 1953-1970. He completed multiple university degrees and was owner/operator of Aerial Surveys. He honorably served three LDS missions. He served three years in Brazil under President Grant Bangerter and with his wife in the Portugal South and Brazil Gioania missions. He was a pilot, organic farmer, car salesman, missionary, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Nola, of Clifton; two sons and one daughter, Lynn (Shairstein) Garner of Preston, Idaho; Daniel (Sherri Jo) Garner of Clifton; Janis (Ryan) Buttars of Clifton; 13 grandchildren, a sister, Beverly of Las Vegas, Nevada; and three brothers, Warren (Gayle) Garner of Las Vegas, Nevada; Rex (Sheila) Garner of Sun Valley, Idaho; and Bill (Kaiti) Garner of Sheridan, Montana. She was Glenwood Town Treasurer for 17 years and worked as the Postmaster in Glenwood. Hanson "Loving Mom and Grandma" Lois Lynn Hanson, 76, our loving mom and grandma, passed away December 1, 2005 at her home. She was born October 30, 1929 in Elko, Nevada to Alfred and Mae Forsythe Torgerson. Lois loved her children above everything and tried hard to help them to be happy. She had a degree in English and Speech from BYU. She enjoyed ceramics, gardening, and reading along with a lifelong love for learning and cooking. She made beautiful porcelain dolls, pouring, painting and dressing them. Lois read all of her life and her library contained many books. Lois and her family lived in Salt Lake for 38 years, having moved here from McLean, Virginia. She loved and appreciated her Relief Society sisters. She was an active member of the LDS Church, working as drama director in Virginia for 10 years. In Salt Lake City, she was active in the Cub Scouts. Survivors: sons, Barry C. Hanson, Jeffery T. Hermanson, Doris Hamilton Doris Hamilton Hermanson 1930 ~ 2005 Beloved wife, mother and grandmother Doris Hamilton Hermanson of Sandy, Utah died on December 1, 2005. She was born Sept. 4, 1930 in Midway, Utah. A daughter of David Hamilton and Della VanWagoner Hamilton. Doris married William Hermanson on Sept. 10, 1949. Her greatest joy in life was being a loving and dedicated mother. She was a member of the LDS Church where she served in several callings. Her hobbies were ceramics, crocheting and reading. Doris was a tremendous cook, teacher, mentor, friend, listener, confidante and daughter of God. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she has touched. Doris was preceded in death by her mother, father, seven brothers and two sisters. Doris is survived by her husband William Hermanson, sons, Randy (Mary) Hermanson of California; and Ric Hermanson of Utah; daughter Charri (Scott) Brummer of Utah; and five grandchildren; Crysstal, Josh, Andrew, Nathaniel and Kayli. She was born May 13, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to George O. Woodford and Beulah Bundy Woodford. She married Loris Porter Kartchner on July 22, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized on September 6, 1951, in the Salt Lake Temple. Joan was very active in the church and held many positions. Joan and Loris served a mission in Houston, Texas. Her life was devoted to her family in which she found great joy. Her hobbies included, sewing, quilting, knitting, traveling and fishing. She will be remembered for her lifelong generosity to others. Joan is survived by her husband Loris, children: Bruce Kartchner (Kathy), Karen Sperry (Roger), JoAnn Thompson, Rebecca Christensen (Niels), Karleen Kartchner (Bob Martinez), Loretta (Fredy) Bush, Donald W. Knight, Sherrie Washburn Sherrie Washburn Knight 1935 ~ 2005 Sherrie Washburn Knight, 70, passed away Nov. 30, 2005, after a long battle with ill health. She was born in Monroe, Utah on August 26, 1935 to Smith G Washburn and Guila Kreutz. A graduate of East High School, she was raised in Salt Lake City, enjoying time as a professional model and attending both BYU and the University of Utah. She married William Earl Knight July 16, 1965 and moved to California where she and Bill raised their two children, Chet (Chester) and April. Sherrie loved to entertain and to cook for family and friends. She won many awards in California and Utah for canning jams, pickles and relishes. Sherrie had a tremendous love of fishing and after returning to live in Utah, she could be found at her favorite fishing holes. Her happiest moments were when she was reeling in her catch. She is survived by her husband Bill, son Chester, daughter-in-law Michelle Knight, and son-in-law, David Broadbent as well as by her brothers David L. Washburn and Bruce K. Washburn. She was an adoring grandmother of her grandchildren Sam and Jesse Knight and Abbi, Griffin, and Garrett Broadbent, and great-grandson Jaxon Broadbent. She is preceded in death by her daughter April Nelson Broadbent, her sister Luana Holst, and her parents. The service will be at The Federal Heights Chapel, 1300 Fairfax Rd, Tuesday, Dec. 6. Murdoch, Lucy Nibley Lucy Nibley Murdoch 1914 ~ 2005 Our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Lucy Nibley Murdoch, passed away December 2, 2005, in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 91. She was born the second child of Ann Parkinson Nibley and Preston Nibley in Salt Lake City, March 6, 1914. She attended the Wasatch School, Bryant Jr. High, East High School, and the University of Utah, where she was affiliated with Chi Omega Sorority. She married William Murdoch, Jr., on October 7, 1936, in the Salt Lake Temple. An active member in the LDS Church, she served in the Young Women's program for 16 years, and was a longtime visiting teacher. With her husband, they were among the first 10 couples to serve a two-year mission in the Temple View Stake. They also served as stake advisors in the Special Interests Program and filled an 18-month mission to the New York Visitor's Center. Lucy also enjoyed working the German-Extraction Program and also was a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Lucy worked for Gump & Ayers as a Realtor for 25-years. She was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother and always thought of others before herself. She had a strong testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving the Lord. She is survived by three daughters, Anne (Dr. Craig) McQueen, Susan M. Briggs, Jane M. Gardner; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Also a sister, Annette (Dr. Stephen) Richards; brother, Preston (Betty Hinckley) Nibley; and many nieces and nephews. Pannunzio, Josie Josie Pannunzio 1931 ~ 2005 Josie (Jo) Porter Pannunzio Our beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and wonderful friend, Josie Pannunzio, passed away peacefully from this life on Tuesday, November 29th 2005. Josie was born May 6th 1931 in Tooele, Utah to Violet Heggie Porter and Nathan Edward Porter. She married Rudolph (Rudy) Pannunzio in Elko, Nev., on Sept. 25, 1950. They were married for 53 years, Rudy preceded her in death in March of 2004, Josie missed him dearly. Josie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a 50 year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagle's Auxiliary. She is survived by her loving family, daughters, Kathleen (Scott) Dunn, Jolene Pannunzio (David Bankhead), Margene (Randy) Wing, Christine (David) Eyre, and Shaun Marie (Jason) Meyer; her beautiful grandchildren, Aimee (John) York, Lori (Miles) Lawrence, Stacie Dunn, Rusti, Trevor and Justin Stalliviere, Marcus, Ashley, and Jenny Wing, Michael (Jackie), Matt, Tyler and Ryan Eyre, Colby, Nicholas and Jordyn Meyer; great-grand-children, Kaisha, Kerianne, Kameron and Kennedi York, Ethan George, Scotty Lawrence and Brianna Eyre. Pearson, Gregory Leslie Gregory Leslie Pearson 1915 ~ 2005 Gregory Leslie Pearson, age 90, died 28 November 2005 in Salt Lake City. He was born 26 October 1915 in Salt Lake City to Levi L. and Iva May Gregory Pearson. Gregory graduated from Idaho Falls High School, attended the University of Utah one year, and then served in the Eastern States Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He attended Utah State University where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering and a Master's in Civil Engineering. He served in World War II in the Army Air Force and received his commission at Yale University in New Haven, Conn. He married Naomi Eliza Dalton on 25 April 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the parents of nine children, four of whom survive. They lived in Moab; Logan; Salt Lake City in Utah; in Portland, Oregon and again, after retirement, in Utah, in both Bountiful and Salt Lake. His professional career was in the U.S. Soil Conservation Service Snow Survey and Water Supply Forecasting program, spending 19 years in charge of it here in Utah and seven years in the Regional Office in Portland. He retired in 1975. Gregory has been active in the LDS Church all of his life. He served in many church assignments, including Ward Clerk, counselor in three bishoprics, on three High Councils, Stake YMMIA Superintendent, High Priest Group Leader and Bishop. In 1970 he was called as a Patriarch and has served in five stakes in this capacity. He has also served as an ordinance worker in Logan, Salt Lake and London Temples, and as a sealer in London and Salt Lake. Following retirement, he and his wife served two missions for the Church in England, in the London Mission and at the London Temple. He is survived by his wife Naomi and daughter Leslie (Gerald S.) Rees of Salt Lake City; sons, Dr. G. George (Linda) of Salt Lake; Melvin J. (Mitzi) of Bountiful; and Bruce E. (Leslie) of Mesa, AZ. Gregory's daughter Jean Biehn (Carl M.), and sons Paul, James, Floyd and Joseph, preceded him in death as did one great-granddaughter, Camille Mischler. He is survived by a son-in-law, Carl M. Biehn (Mary Jane) and 25 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and a sister, Faith (Arne) Johnson of Renton, WA. A brother Edward and a sister Hope preceded him in death. Perry, Keith Jensen Keith Jensen Perry 1923 ~ 2005 Keith Jensen Perry, 82, returned home to his Heavenly parents on November 30, 2005. He was born August 2, 1923 in Byron, Wyoming to Foster Orin and Clyta Jensen Perry. He married his sweetheart and best friend Blanche Lloyd on August 2, 1946. They enjoyed 59 years together and had six children. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be deeply missed by his family. He served his country in the Army during World War II. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had many callings throughout his life. He was known for his kind and gentle manner. He loved to work in his garden and share his vegetables with the neighborhood. He loved his family dearly and was always there with words of wisdom and love. He is survived by his wife Blanche, his children Keith Lloyd (Ginger), David (Tauna), Steven (Beverly), Jeannette Jeppson (Rick), Janice Anderson (Victor), John (Spring), brothers Verle (Rhea) and Wayne (Reta), 33 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren. Quinn 1934 ~ 2005 Our beautiful and loved friend, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Sally Ann Riddle Quinn left us to join her mother and brother on December 1, 2005 after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born July 24, 1934 in Richfield, Utah to Arvel J. and Dorothy Rasmussen Riddle. Her family moved to Salt Lake City during World War II, where she attended South High School. Upon graduation, she won a four-year Merrill Lynch scholarship to the University of Utah, where she affiliated with Alpha Chi Omega and graduated with a degree in Business Education in 1956. After graduation she worked in Washington D.C., on the staff of Senator Wallace F. Bennett for many years. Sally married Thomas A. Quinn in the Salt Lake Temple on December 28, 1960 after a brief but intense courtship. Together they raised five children. She was devoted to her family and spent her life in selfless service to her husband and children. She was also very dedicated to charity work, serving with the Festival of Trees, National Charity League and the Utah Symphony Guild, for which she served as President. She was an avid reader and a true friend. She loved her associations with her dear friends in her ward family, Alpha Chi Omega, her book club, bridge club and the Symphony Guild. Sally was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a firm testimony of the truthfulness of the restored gospel. She taught her children and grandchildren of her love for the gospel by both her words and actions all her life. She held many responsible church callings and loved serving in her church. She is survived by her loving husband Tom; her father Arvel; children Alison (Roger) Peterson, Mark (Robin) Quinn, Melanie (Kevin) Smith, Michele (Taylor) Cardall and Shannon (Ron) Jensen; eighteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Despite a year and a half battle with breast cancer, I left this world full of hope and love. I was born November 4, 1965 to Susan and Bill Mellenthin in Salt Lake City. My sisters, Leslie and Nicole, and I were raised by our mother, Susan Lynne Hogan. I also have a wonderful half-brother, Matthew Mellenthin, who was raised by my grandparents, Bill and Mary Mellenthin. I am survived by my husband, John E. Randles: my best friend, my soul mate and the love of my life, as well as two amazing children, my daughter, Sierra Lynne (10) and my son, Kevin John (7). Together, the three of them have brought me more joy than I thought was possible in this life. I have been blessed with more true friends, special relationships, extended family, caregivers and loving supporters than almost anyone I know. William Richards, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and faithful friend passed on to a joyous reunion with loved ones Wednesday, November 30, 2005. Bill was born December 25, 1918 to Stayner and Jane Taylor Richards. He met his sweetheart Claire Dyreng in New York City where they were both studying music. They were married in the Manti Temple August 15, 1955 and shared 50 wonderful, happy years together. They are the parents of three sons and one daughter: Dr. Ray (Jan) Richards, Robert (Nicki) Richards, David (Shyrl) Richards, and Elizabeth (Jon) Tenney. Bill was a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While serving in the Eastern States Mission, he was transferred to California to play the organ in the "Little Tabernacle," the LDS exhibit on Treasure Island at the San Francisco World's Fair. Bill proudly served his country for five years in World War II. During a two-year tour of duty in Europe he served as a chaplain's assistant providing music for religious services three to five times day. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and assisted with the liberation of several prison camps, all the time carrying a portable organ and playing for services anytime, anywhere. Bill graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and attended the Manhattan School of Sacred Music and Columbia University. He taught at New York University and was organist for non-denominational services in Carnegie Hall for four years. He also served as organist at the United Nations Chapel playing for many special events. After spending a year in Boston, Bill and Claire settled in Reno, Nevada where for fourteen years he was Executive Vice-President of the Nevada Division of the American Cancer Society. He was later appointed Director of Reports for the national office of the American Cancer Society, and moved his family to Short Hills, New Jersey from whence he commuted to his New York City Office. Retiring and returning to Salt Lake was a joyous occasion. Bill had promised to build a family cabin, so he enrolled at Utah Technical College and earned a degree in building construction. With the help of family and friends he completed a beautiful mountain home at Pine Mountain where the family loves to gather. Bill served faithfully in many Church callings including Missionary, Elders Quorum President, High Council Member and Bishop of the Manhattan Ward in New York City. Upon returning to Salt Lake he was called to serve on the Hymnbook Executive Committee. He was well prepared, having previously been a member of the Executive Committee of the Hymn Society of America for twenty-two years. Bill then served fourteen years as Organist for the Tourists' Devotionals in the Assembly Hall on Temple Square. Bill is survived by his wife, Claire, four children, nineteen grandchildren, sisters Marion Landward and Nancy (John) Poulton, brother Lee Richards, sister-in-law Margaret Richards, and brother-in-law Theron Fotheringham. Susie was a caring, loving daughter who endured her trials with courage and strength. She was famous for saying "you just keep going, because it wouldn't do you any good to give up." She taught us to be positive and happy despite our trials. Her example of humility and love will be imprinted on our hearts for all eternity. She loved being with her family and friends. Susie was dedicated to the gospel of Jesus Christ. She always read her scriptures and prayed faithfully, she relied heavily on the Lord and encouraged others to follow her example. Life was always interesting with Susie. We were blessed to share 20 yrs of life with her. She will always be part of our family and will live forever in our memories and hearts. Allen M Winterton 1915 ~ 2005 Allen M Winterton was born January 31, 1915, in Charleston, Utah, to Moroni and Susa Mabel Giles Winterton. He graduated from Wasatch High School in Heber, Utah. In 1937 he married Ava Atwood in the Salt Lake Temple. She was the love of his life and preceded him in death on December 21st, 2004. He was employed as a laborer during the construction of Geneva Steel in the early 1940's and in 1946 became employed in the plant's machine shop where he remained until his retirement in 1977. From 1978 to 1980, Allen and Ava served in the Canada Winnipeg LDS Mission. Allen loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, welding, computing, and tending his small garden and orchard. He was friendly to everyone, and could often be found fixing something for friends and neighbors. He is survived by four children: Wayne, Phoenix, AZ, Joyce (Lynn J) Stewart, Deweyville, UT, Ann (Richard) Seely, Salt Lake City who, along with her husband is currently serving a mission in Brazil, and Alene (Brent) Neilson, Las Vegas, NV.
