Andrus, Shawna Colleen Salazar
Shawna Colleen Salazar Andrus 9/30/1979 ~ 2/6/2005 Our precious little
Patches, Shawna Colleen Salazar Andrus returned to the loving arms of her
Father in Heaven on Sunday, February 6, 2005, due to injuries sustained in a
tragic automobile accident in Flagstaff, Arizona. She was born on Sunday,
September 30, 1979, to Michael Shawn and Colleen Jayne Smith Salazar at St.
Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Shawna, and the love of her life,
Joshua Brock Andrus, celebrated their wedding anniversary on August 30, 2004.
Shawna graduated from Taylorsville High School in 1998, and was employed at
Discover Card. Shawna and Joshua enjoyed spending time with their fat cat,
Tonto. Shawna will be remembered as an uncomplicated and perfect person. She
loved everything purple and collected anything related to frogs. Shawna was a
strong willed woman. She was charming and loved making new friends. Shawna's
dream was to become a police officer, following in the footsteps of her Uncle
John. Shawna is survived by her devoted husband Joshua, her parents, Mike and
Colleen, brothers and sisters, Melissa (Jim Ranke-Joshua's best friend),
Michael Jr., Angela, John, and Patrick. She is also survived by her
father-in-law Brock Andrus, mother-in-law Sherry, Joshua's sister Lexi, as
well as her grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Shawna was
preceded in death by her Uncle Joel and Aunt Carmen. In order to provide
Joshua sufficient time to recover from his injuries and to be in attendance,
the Vigil Service will be held Sunday, February 20, 2005, at 7:00 p.m. Funeral
Mass will be celebrated Monday, February 21, 2005, at 11 a.m. All services
will be held at St. John the Baptist Parish, 300 East 11800 South, Draper,
Utah. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt

like to express our deep appreciation for the overwhelming love and support we
have been receiving at this most tragic time. Shawna will be immeasurably

Ashton, Eva
Eva Ashton 1919 ~ 2005 LEHI, UTAH - Eva Hansen Ashton, 85, loving wife,
mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and life long resident of Lehi,
Utah, died February 10, 2005 at her home of natural causes. Born March 3, 1919
in Lehi, Utah, a daughter of Tarvel and Alta Yates Hansen. She married her
sweetheart Carl Ashton on November 20, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She
attended school in Lehi. Member LDS Church. Served as a visiting teacher for
many years. Served on the Old Folks Committee. She is now reunited with her
eternal companion and dance partner. Loved dancing, traveling together to
various states and towns with their parents and their own children. She was
close to her family. Loved camping and fishing. She worked for different
businesses in Lehi. She is survived by her children, Carol (Gary) Oxborrow,
Dale (Deanne) Ashton, Dennis (Connie) Ashton, all of Lehi; 29 grandchildren,
53 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Don Hansen
(Rita), American Fork, UT. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 14,
2005 at 11 a.m. at the Lehi 9th Ward, 465 East 300 North, Lehi, Utah. Friends
and family may call Sunday evening at the Lehi 9th Ward, from 6-8 p.m. and one

Berg, Charles William "Bill"
Charles William "Bill" Berge 1932 ~ 2005 Charles William "Bill" Berge 72, of
Newton, Utah passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 9th. Born February
16, 1932 in Coalinga, CA to William Hans and Lucille Provost Berge. He grew up
in California and Brazil. He received his B.A. and M.S. degrees from BYU and
his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin. He was a Lieutenant Commander in
the United States Navy where he served as an aviator. Bill married Ilda Marie
Benson in Salt Lake City Temple in 1957. Bill was a geologist, educator,
geothermal energy pioneer, and technology transfer specialist. His
professional pursuits allowed Bill to travel extensively, influence energy
policy, and touch many lives. He was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities. He and his wife
served in the Brazil, Salvador mission. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, skiing,
sports, photography, and the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Ilda of
Newton; his children: Heidi and Jim Hodgson, Newton, William and Chifumy
Berge, Murray, Erik and Tara Berge, Bountiful, Hans and Jocelyn Berge of
Seattle, Britta Berge, Newton; brother, Dale and Gerri Berge of Provo; and 11
grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday,
February 12, 2005, at the LDS chapel in Newton, 100 South 100 West. Friends
may call Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South
Main in Smithfield and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the church in Newton.

Bigler, Ruth McClellan
Ruth Mcclellan Bigler 1913 ~ 2005 Ruth McClellan Chadwick Harding Bigler, age
91, of Provo, died February 9, 2005 at the Country View Manor in Provo. She
was born July 25, 1913 in Provo to Joseph Earl and Lois Elizabeth Hurst
McClellan. She married Wells N. Chadwick on November 15, 1933 in the Salt Lake
LDS Temple. They were later divorced. She married Jesse Harding on June 10,
1964 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, he passed away on April 17, 1976. She
married Orville Edwin Bigler on December 17, 1983 in the Provo LDS Temple. He
passed away on February 12, 1985. Ruth received her education in the Payson
City Schools. After her marriage to Mr. Chadwick, they made their home in
Downey, California. They moved back to Utah in 1948 and lived in Springville,
and later moved to Provo, where she remained until her death. Ruth worked at
BYU for several years in the Cannon Center. She was a member of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held many positions and worked as
a temple worker at the Provo Temple, and served in the Sacramento, California
Mission, from 1978 to 1980. She is survived by her children, Morris Wells
(Kenna) Chadwick of Lehi, UT; Larry Earl (Deon) Chadwick of Provo; Sharon
(Kent) Aland of Sidney, NB; and Lois Ann Comer of St. George; 74
grandchildren, 122 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren; one
sister, Reva Allred of Roosevelt; and a brother, E. Louis McClellan of Provo.
She is also survived by her step-children, Charmayne (Tom) Kasparian of
Taylorsville; Edwin (Clara) Bigler of Layton; Edith (Bill) Johnson of
Nacogdoches, TX; Donna Leeds of Cypress, CA; Dale (Joann) Bigler of Eld Ridge;
Perie (Floy) Bigler of Queens Creek, AZ; Bill (Julie) Bigler of Vernal; Myron
(Georgia) Bigler of Hyrum; and Rose Ann Bishop of Philadelphia. She was
preceded in death by two husbands; a grandchild, Scott Chadwick; a step-son,
Dean Bigler; and son-in-law, Dan Comer. Our thanks to those at Country View
Manor, Provo, for the care extended to Ruth during the past years. Funeral
services will be held Monday, February 14, 2005, at 11:30 a.m., at the East

Chamberlain, Belva Kitchen
Belva Kitchen Chamberlain 1920 ~ 2005 Belva Kitchen Chamberlain, 84, of Cedar
Fort, Utah, passed away Feb. 10, 2005 in Orem, Utah. She was born April 25,
1920 in Tridell, Utah to Joseph Levi and Blanche Cook Kitchen. She married Don
Chamberlain on June 3, 1940. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt
Lake LDS Temple. Belva was a member of the LDS Church and served in numerous
callings in the church. She loved to teach children and was a leader among
women. She was a good cook and loved to entertain. She was very giving and
thoughtful and would do anything to help a friend or neighbor. Belva was very
prayerful and was well read in the scriptures. Survived by three sons, Thomas
Henrey (Jan), Provo; Randy LaGrande (Andrea), Houston, TX; Alan Kerby
(Yvonne), Eureka, NV; two daughters, Donna King, Salt Lake City; Brenda
(Jerry) Elmer, West Jordan; a daughter-in-law, Ileen Chamberlain, Orem; 24
grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Melvin (Verda) Kitchen,
Ralph Lenford (Reba) Kitchen, Weldon (Donna) Kitchen; three sisters, Virginia
Goodrich, Lea Mae (Enes) Hatch, Maxine Benedict. She was preceded in death by
her husband; a son, Rex J. Chamberlain; and a grandson, Brian Hill. Funeral
services will be Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cedar Fort LDS

Clyde, Don Roger
Don Roger Clyde 1936 ~ 2005 We will miss our father Roger Clyde for his warm
heart and unconditional love for our family; the world will remember him for
his prolific genealogy and temple work and his ever present
suspenders--symbolizing his devotion to the divine and his "hitch up your
pants and work" ethic. During the early morning of February 10th, at the age
of 68, he unexpectedly passed away from complications of diabetes. His wife
and two daughters were with him as he moved on to his next assignment. The
youngest of six children, he was born October 19, 1936 in Salt Lake City to
parents Edward Clyde and Hannah Mendenhall Clyde. He spent his early years in
Springville and attended Springville High School. He became an Eagle Scout. He
later graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Civil
Engineering. As an LDS missionary in the Eastern States Mission, he was not
only an enthusiastic teacher, but his technical talents were put to good use
when he was placed in charge of lighting for the Hill Cummorah Pageant in
Palmyra, New York. He married Dolly Thuryle McCauley in the Salt Lake Temple
June 5, 1959. Roger started working when he was five years old with the
family-owned W.W. Clyde and Co. This experience led him to pursue a vocation
in heavy construction. Following his education, he and Thuryle moved to
Oakland, California where for 11 years he worked in major construction with
large firms in the Bay Area including the Dillingham Corporation. While in
California, they were blessed with two daughters, Elaina and Kristene. Roger
was asked to go back to Washington D.C. for the construction of the Washington
metro system. Later, he and the family moved from Virginia to Bountiful, where
he eventually started his own consulting company as a cost estimator. Roger
was devoted to the Lord and loved serving in the church. He was a High Priest
and always served with dedication in the positions to which he was called. He
was a "doer" who would get things done when asked or even without being asked.
Roger was a long time member of the Mueller Park 2nd Ward where he ardently
supported the Boy Scout program. Until the diabetes caught up with him, he was
always excitedly joining the hiking and camping activities of the troop,
helping the boys achieve their scouting goals. The scouts will forever hold in
their memory and get a chuckle out of Roger's famous scrambled eggs. He
supported the missionary program, often quietly assisting and sustaining those
serving. He was eagerly engaged in genealogy and temple work and enjoyed his
several years as a temple worker in the Bountiful Temple. His research
resulted in the identification of thousands of names for whom members of his
family performed ordinance work. For many years he was asked to administer the
temple baptistery and diligently fulfilled his calling. He is survived by his
wife Thuryle; daughters Elaina (William) Gillespie and Kristene (Brian)
Gonzales; six grandchildren who he greatly loved; also, one sister, Pauline
Pace of Salt Lake City; and brothers, Calvin (Brigitta) of Logan; Hal (Aileen)
of Springville; and Norman (Phyllis) of Provo. He was preceded in death by
brother Grant (Leone). The family wishes to thank the doctors and the ICU unit
at the University of Utah Medical Center who watched over Roger during his
fight with his illness, especially doctors Timothy Beals, Christopher Jackson,
and Thomas Miller. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 14th, 12
noon at the Mueller Park 2nd Ward, 1800 S. 850 E. in Bountiful. A viewing will
be at the ward house Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. and prior to the funeral at
10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville.

Esparza, Elena
Elena Esparza "Mama" 1922 ~ 2005 Our dearest Mom passed away on Feb. 8th under
the loving care of her daughter Lori. Elena was reunited in heaven to her
devoted husband Jose, their son Samuel, her parents and all her siblings. She
is survived by three children, 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Mom taught us by wonderful example how to love unconditionally. She gave us
strength by showing us how to enjoy life's ups and downs, with hope and
acceptance. She was stylish, witty, brave, loyal, loving, intuitive, a best
friend and confidant. She was proud to be one of the originals at the Sandy
Senior Center where she worked as a volunteer and interpreter. We offer many
thanks to Lifepath Hospice Care for their unfailing support and devotion. To
celebrate Jose and Elena's reunion, funeral services will be held Valentines
Day, Feb. 14 at 12 noon at Larkin Sunset Gardens. A viewing will precede the
service 11:00 to 11:45. She is loved by all who met her and will always be
sweetly remembered.

Galloway, Craig Walker
Craig Walker Galloway "Grandpa" Our beloved husband, father and son died
suddenly Feb 8, 2005. He was born Jan 19, 1954 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Ronald
and Shirley Galloway. He attended Granite High School and served four years in
the U.S. Navy. He married Vicki Winegar, his sweetheart since Jr. High, on
July 18, 1974. They are the parents of two wonderful sons. Craig was a kind
and loving husband, father and grandpa--the title he was most proud of. He was
unselfish and giving, always willing to drop everything and help a friend. He
had a great sense of humor, he was a terrible tease, and always had a
mischievous twinkle in his eye. He is survived by his loving wife Vicki, sons
Dylan (Melissa), and Dustin, grandchildren Dawnae, Austin, the soon to be
arriving Amaya, mother Shirley, step-father Richard Thompson, brothers Brent,
Darel (Beth Anne), Kim (Kristie), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded
in death by his father. Memorial services will be Saturday Feb. 12, 2005 at
10:00 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3401 So. Highland Drive. Friends may call
one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to
the family or your favorite charity in Craig's name.

Gardner, Chad Michael Kelso
Chad Michael Kelso Gardner 1973 ~ 2005 Our beloved husband, father, son,
brother and friend left this earthly existence on Tuesday, February 8th, 2005.
Chad died of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Irving, Texas.
Born August 28th, 1973, Chad was never at a loss for energy or for something
to say. He graduated with the class of 1991 from St. Joseph High School in
Ogden, and married Meggan Dupuis on July 7th, 1996. Chad's short span of years
was packed full of vibrant living and infused with passion. All who knew him
appreciated his generosity, compassion, infectious laughter and beautiful
smile. He was devoted to his wife and children, and enjoyed sharing his
interests in cooking, music, movies, and literature with them. Chad was a
talented musician, and loved to play the blues on his saxophone, harmonica and
piano. One of his favorite activities was to dance in the kitchen with Meggan
and the kids. Chad worked tirelessly to ensure the happiness and well-being of
his family, and was employed in various sales and computer-related fields
including his most recent position with Quickcare in Dallas, Texas. Chad is
survived by his wife Meggan; parents Debbie and B. Greg Gardner and Gary and
Mary Clare Kelso; children Devin, Breanna, Michael, Isaiah, Bailey and Ethan;
brothers and sisters Gina Barberi, Mikelle (Brent) Weil, Kelly (Rob) Kelso,
Kerry (Keith) Hankins, David (Fawn) Kelso, Aaron (Anne) Gardner, Beth (Ryan)
Dickson, Katie, Jake and Nikki Gardner, grandmother, Ferne Kelso, and many
other friends and family members who loved him dearly. In lieu of flowers, a
trust fund has been established in Chad's name for his wife and six children.

Gunther, Eric Kurt
Eric Kurt Gunther 1913 ~ 2005 Beloved husband, father, grandfather and
great-grandfather, Eric Kurt Gunther, passed away on February 10, 2005 of
causes incident to age. He was 91. Eric was born December 8, 1913 in
Griessbach, Germany, to Edmund Richard Gunther and Ida Helene Drechsel. He
spent his earliest years in and around the nearby city of Chemnitz. In 1924,
the family immigrated to the United States and settled in Utah. At the age of
only 16, with his father unable to find work at the onset of the Great
Depression, Eric became the sole means of support for the family. On August
19, 1933, Eric married the love of his life, Adeline "Addy" Weisser. Their
marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Never were two people
more in love. Their marriage was to last more than 68 years, until Addy's
passing in 2002, making Eric and Addy strong contenders for the title of
"national champion lovers." Eric had a long and distinguished career in the
baking industry. He gained national notoriety as a master cake decorator,
having learned this art during a time when he and Addy lived in Los Angeles.
Eric especially enjoyed traveling and socializing with "the Gunthers" - his
brothers and sister and their spouses. Until the very end, Eric's life was a
life well lived, a life worthy both of admiration and emulation, and a life
spent in single-minded devotion to those he loved. We'll miss you Dad, and
remember you always! Eric is survived by his son, Eric (Julie), daughters
Patty (Larry) Olson and Rose (Jeff) Hawker, daughter-in-law Louise Gunther, 11
grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, brother John R. (Ann) Gunther,
sister Dorothy Harman, and sister-in-law Mary Gunther. He was preceded in
death by his parents, wife Adeline, son Ron, great- grandson Eric, brother
Werner, and brother-in-law Howard Harman. A special thanks to Gerie, Kathy,
Amy, Tammy, and also the CareSource Residence for their tender and attentive
care of Dad during the last phase of his life. Funeral services will be held
Monday, February 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Heughs Canyon Ward, 6301 S. 2300 E.

Howe, Patricia Ann
Patricia Ann Howe 1938 ~ 2005 Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,
Patricia Ann Howe went home to her heavenly father on February 8th, 2005. She
passed away due to complications from a serious car accident. She was born on
Sept. 25th 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Rosa Margaret Galpin and Ernest
Fletcher. She was an active member of the LDS church. She loved everybody and
was always willing to help whenever she could. She enjoyed Bingo, Crocheting,
Plastic Canvas Crafts, Visiting, Spoiling the grandkids and her cats. She was
always willing to give from the heart even when she couldn't afford to. She is
preceded in death by her father and step-father. She had three sisters, Arlene
Greco of Hurricane, Utah; Virginia Acocks and Karen Ward of Salt Lake City,
Utah; three brothers John, Jerald and Arthur Galpin all of Salt Lake City,
Utah. She had three children, Michael Howe of St. George, Ricky Howe of Salt
Lake City and Tammy Freytag of Clearwater, FL. She had 10 grandchildren and
nine great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Monday Feb. 14th,
2005 at 10 a.m. at the Kearns 5th Ward, 5025 W. 4865 S. Kearns, Utah. Friends
and family may come to the viewing on Sunday, Feb. 13th 2005 from 5-7 p.m. at
Valley View Funeral Home 4335 W. 4100 S. West Valley City. Interment following
the Funeral Services will be at the Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 W. 4100 S.

Jesperson, James Avril
James Avril Jesperson 1914 ~ 2005 James Avril Jesperson, beloved husband,
father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Wednesday, February 9,
2005, at his home in Orem from complications resulting from a stroke. He was
born September 25, 1914, in Tucson, Arizona. He grew up in the Binghampton,
Arizona area and attended local schools. He met his sweetheart, Doris Bender,
in high school and they married on October 13, 1936, in Globe, Arizona. After
their wedding, he served a mission in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Their marriage
was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple upon his return. After moving to San
Diego, California, they were blessed with five children and Jim worked as a
civil engineer for the California Division of Highways for 35 years. As a
couple, they set an example of service, devotion and faith. Jim served in
various church callings including bishop, stake president, and mission
president for the Andes Mission (1965-68). He later served with his wife as a
regional representative in Quito, Ecuador; as a mission president of the
Guayaquil Ecuador Mission; and as president of the Mexico City Missionary
Training Center. He had a strong testimony and always put his family and the
Lord first in his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters,
a brother, and a son-in-law, John Pritchett. He is survived by his wife of 68
years, Doris, and his children, Jenean (Robert) Godbold, Patricia Pritchett,
Mark (Solveig) Jesperson, Jamie (Ralph) Rasmussen, and John (Diana) Jesperson
as well as 29 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Funeral services under
the direction of Walker Sanderson Funeral Home of Orem, will be held on
Monday, February 14, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at the Orem Sharon Stake Center
located at 545 South 800 East. There will be no public viewing. Interment will
be at the Orem City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the

Johnson, Ethel Rolfson
Ethel Rolfson Johnson 1903 ~ 2005 " Reunited Forever " Ethel Phillips Rolfson
Johnson returned to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 9, 2005, after
fulfilling a valiant life of inspiration and service to family and all whom
she could serve. She has rejoined her sweetheart George, parents, siblings and
other family and friends. She exemplified the sturdy stock of her ancestors,
with unending examples of faith and devotion to the Gospel of our Savior Jesus
Christ and love of her Father in Heaven and her beloved family. She dearly
loved the countries of her birth and life. She was keen in developing an
appreciation for life and patriotism in her family. She loved to hear of
family adventures and accomplishments. She was born, in a two room pioneer
home built by "father", the oldest daughter of Francis Bent and Emily Phillips
Rolfson, on June 1, 1903, on the Canadian plains near the Rockies, in Raymond,
Alberta, Canada. Raymond is a town that her colonizing, pioneer parents, were
called to help develop by President Lorenzo Snow. She was the third of eight
children including four brothers; Ray, Basil, Cleon and Varold and three
sisters; Arilla LaPearle, Elma Knaus and Verl Greene. She grew up riding
horses and working on "father's" farm and camp cook for cowboys on the summer
range. During her life she experienced the fantastic transition from the horse
and buggy and railroad to the modern conveniences of every day life and the
age of scientific achievement. On her 100th birthday she was tickled to ride
in a 1913 Maxwell that fit her "just right". After becoming an adult, Ethel
moved to Salt Lake City where she met and later married George A. Johnson, in
the Salt Lake Temple, on June 8, 1926. They instilled faith in their four sons
and one daughter. They supported their four sons and grandchildren as
missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mother was
an accomplished gardener with beautiful flowers and a producer of tasty
vegetables. She enjoyed all things beautiful to see and pleasant to hear. She
loved to hear the beautiful voices, other musical and artistic talents
developed by her vast family. Ethel was preceded in death by her loving
husband George and their eldest son Delmar (Anneli). She is survived by Orvel
(Barbara deceased) , Norene (Wally) Newton, LaVell (Carol) and Newell
(Colleen) and her sister Verl Greene all in the Salt Lake valley. She has
innumerable nieces and nephews and a posterity numbering 213 (with seven more
on the way). Ethel was a life-long active member of the LDS Church having
served in many callings in the Church. She was an active member of the
Woodruff Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. An avid genealogist, she
excitedly sought out her family roots over the centuries, leaving her vast
work product to her family. She exemplified compassionate service to others.
The family expresses sincere appreciation to her medical providers and the
Hearts for Hospice care givers that helped in her passing into the eternities.
We especially thank her daughter Norene for her loving service to Mom these
last few months of her life. Friends and family may call at Larkin Mortuary,
260 East South Temple Friday, Feb. 11, 2005 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm or a
Saturday viewing at the Church from 11:00 to 11:45 am prior to the services.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2005 at the Waterloo
Ward, 1620 South 500 East, Salt Lake City at 12:00 pm. Interment will be held
in the Elysian Burial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be
made to the Perpetual Education Fund of the LDS Church.

Leiva-Fuentes, Hector Alfonzo
Hector Alfonzo Leiva-Fuentes Hector The Collector Hector left us prematurely
on January 2, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 49. He was born on
March 4, 1955 in Santiago, Chile, the son of Antonio Hector Leiva and Anna
Fuentes. Hector moved to Argentina when he was young. He graduated from the
University of Buenos Aires with a Masters Degree in Accounting. All who knew
Hector were aware of how structured and detail oriented he was. Hector visited
the United States a few times and knew he had to live here. He moved to
California in 1983 and joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He was active in the Church. While in California, he met and married Theresa
Emery in 1985; they were divorced December 16, 2004. They had four children:
Austin Christopher (17), Anita Christine (15), Ashley Marie (13), and Sabrina
Rose (10). Hector loved his children very much. He was very proud of his
heritage. Hector and his family loved to travel. Belgium, Hong Kong,
Argentina, Germany, Rome, and Disney Land were some of their favorite
destinations. He loved the pastries and different delicacies these countries
offered. Hector worked for Aerolineas Argentinas and Delta Airlines. Hector
started at Delta on August 13, 1989. He worked on the SLC Ramp, LAX Cabin
Service and in SLC Reservation Sales. While in Reservation Sales, Hector
worked in General Sales, Special Member Services, and Special Member Services
Customer Service Desk. His coworkers knew that if he answered their phone
call, they would get correct information. He was strict, yet fair. He was
famous for his "Spanglish." "That what it is," "Sanka you for your patient,"
"weather permit," "you minus to splain me that one," and "you minus or you
plus?" were just a few sayings he will forever be remembered. He is survived
by father, Antonio Hector Leiva, mother, Anna Fuentes and two brothers Jose
and Fernando and their spouses, his son, Austin, his daughters, Anita, Ashley
and Sabrina. Memorial Services will be held on Monday, February 14, 2005 at
2:00 p.m. at Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Lieberman, Mary Payne "Hazel"
Mary "Hazel" Payne Lieberman 1928 ~ 2005 Hazel was born Feb. 3, 1928 in
Blackfoot, Idaho to Mary H. Price Payne and William Frank Payne. She graduated
from Blackfoot High School in 1946, married Arnold P Lieberman in 1949. Hazel
is survived by husband Arnold P Lieberman her three sons; Stuart, Salt Lake
City, Jon (Missy) Fairbanks, Alaska, Robert, of Salt Lake City. Brother,
Parley (Marla) Payne, Island Park, Idaho. Grandchildren; Quinn (Joe) Cafiero,
San Diego, California, Chelsea Lieberman, Salt Lake City, Robert Lieberman,
and William Lieberman, Fairbanks, Alaska and Jon Preston Lieberman, Salt Lake
City. Preceded in death by parents, one brother, Richard Payne, two
granddaughters, Cassandra Lieberman in 1973 and Danielle Sweat in 2005. Hazel
was a member of the LDS Church and a life member of Beta Sigma Phi. At her
request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be Saturday,
February 12, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at South Cottonwood Third Ward 981 Revere
Circle, near 9th East and 5600 South. In lieu of flowers donations may be made
to the LDS. church disaster relief or the Red Cross.

O'Brien, Nelda Rich
Nelda Rich O'Brien 1907 ~ 2005 Nelda Rich O'Brien, age 97, passed away
February 10, 2005 in Salt Lake City, UT. She was born October 29, 1907 in
Morgan, UT to Jenna Brough Rich and James Richard Rich. She graduated from
Morgan High School. She married Don James O'Brien on Oct. 1, 1927 in Morgan,
UT. Nelda was a caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. An
excellent seamstress, homemaker and cook, she was renowned for her
Thanksgiving dinners. She was an active teacher of youth groups in the LDS
Church. She is survived by daughter Patricia O. Preston (Patrick), son Verl R.
O'Brien (Karen), six grandchildren: Keli Smith, Sean O'Brien, Amie Preston,
Joel Preston, Devon O'Brien, Eden Bennett, sister-in-law Ruth Porter Rich, and
18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don J.
O'Brien, brothers LaVon and Franklin Rich, and sister Lona Fowler. Graveside
Services will be held Monday, February 14th at 12 noon at Wasatch Lawn
Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Drive.

Peterson, Robert Leo
Robert Leo Peterson We Love You Dad Robert passed away Feb. 8, 2005 in Salt
Lake City, Utah. "Bob or Pete" was born in Elsinore, Utah. Preceded in death
by his parents Marjorie Luella (Hansen) and Charles Leo, his sister Margery
(Parker/Bergen), and daughter Karen. He is survived by the love of his life
and wife of 65 years, Phyllis Elise (Johnson), brothers; Richard (Lucy),
Donald (Carol), Garth (Geraldine J.), Gary (Kathy), his sons Stephen (Maria)
and Eric (Elizabeth) and daughter Kristin, Johnson; six grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren. After receiving a BS in Bacteriology from the U of
U, Dad served in the USA field artillery in Australia in World War II then
joined the USAF as an industrial hygiene engineer career officer and traveled
widely. He completed postgraduate studies in his field at numerous prestigious
universities. Dad was a quiet and loving person that always put his family
first. He loved children. His later years were complicated by chronic illness.
His family appreciates the care he received at Federal Heights R. C. and the
SLRMC and especially from Dr. K. Lane. Friends and family may attend a simple
service at the "Everlasting Garden Mausoleum" at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401
Highland Dr. Saturday, Feb. 12 at 10:30 a.m.

Tess Patrice Rimington Our Little Valentine Tess Patrice Rimington was born
and passed away February 6, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born to
Bryce Leigh and Sara Ann Wells Rimington. "It's OK, I can dream about
her."...Brock, "I want to take you home"...Sophie. We all wanted to take you
home Tess, but now we'll someday come home to you... Tess is survived by her
parents, Bryce and Sara, brother Brock Leo, sister Sophie Ruby, grandparents
Robert Faris Wells, Patricia Fairbanks Wells, Russell (Ruby, dec.) Baylis
Rimington, and Great-Grandparents Winifred (Leo, dec.) Baylis Rimington, and

Squires, Joan Ann Miller
Joan Ann Miller Squires 1941 ~ 2005 Joan Ann Miller Squires left this life
from her Salt Lake City home on February 10, 2005. She entered it in Albany,
NY on March 9, 1941 as the child of Leslie Fey and Margaret Elizabeth Glenck.
She was married to her soul mate and eternal love, Dr. Thomas Gregory Squires,
in Mt Olympus Presbyterian Church on May 21, 1989 and they renewed their vows
there on May 21, 1999. Joan was preceded in death by her father and survived
by her mother, her brother, Peter, and her husband and his children, Lynn
Squires-White, Gregory and Joseph as well as her sister-in-law, Linda Squires
McKinley and her brother-in-law, Roy. Joan lived her personal life caring for
others, and much of her professional career was also spent in service to
others -- as an education specialist and advocate for underrepresented
persons. Her love of knowledge led her to earn a BA in English (1963) and a
Master's in Information Science (1964) from the State University of New York
at Albany. Joan began her professional career at Union College and Albany
Medical College libraries, but soon moved to the New York State Department of
Education where she held key management positions in medical research and then
in education of children with special needs. In 1979, Joan moved to Colorado
where she assisted the Director of the National Renewable Laboratory with
strategic planning and administered the laboratory's education programs. In
1992, she moved to Salt Lake City and continued her lifelong work in education
working as an independent consultant to develop enrichment programs for young
women and underrepresented populations for various government agencies. In
Salt Lake City, Joan also returned to her love of books through part-time
employment in the Salt Lake County Library System and the Reid School. Joan
spent many joyous hours traveling with family and friends, always with her
husband and companion, Tom. Her favorite times were those she and Tom spent in
their Salt Lake City "nest" with their pets, Niki and April Snow and at their
retreat at Otter Crest, high on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Gardening, walking, reading, golfing - whatever Joan and Tom did together was
filled with love, peace, and commitment to each other. At Joan's request,
there will be no memorial service. However on May 21, 2005, family and friends
are invited to join in a celebration of Joan's life at their "nest". In lieu
of flowers, please send donations for the Joan Miller Library Fund to the Reid
School, 2965 E. 3435 So., Salt Lake City, UT 84109-3161.

Dorothy Francis Gott Titus 1924 ~ 2005 SOUTH WEBER - Dorothy Francis Gott
Titus (Mattie), age 80, born April 5, 1924 in Grandview, MO., died Feb. 7,
2005 in South Weber, UT from heart failure. She is survived by her husband
Thomas Winfield Titus married on Jan. 31, 1945 in Lincoln, NE; sons Gerald and
Ronald and their families including 16 grandchildren and 14
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Scott. She served
many years as a Family History Librarian, a temple worker in Oakland, CA, and
served LDS missions with her husband in Scotland, N. Ireland, and Mesa, AZ.
She will be remembered for her unbounded optimism. Memorial service will be
held Monday, Feb. 14, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pioneer Ward, 6660 S. 1775 E.,
Uintah. Interment, Belton Cemetery, Belton, MO.

Yergensen, Delbert Mathew
Delbert Mathew Yergensen 10/30/1911 ~ 2/9/2005 Delbert Mathew Yergensen, age
93, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2005 in the
Rocky Mountain Care Center in West Valley City, Utah. Delbert was born in
Monroe, Utah on October 30, 1911, to Niels Mathew Yergensen and Magdalena
Christensen Yergensen. He married Florence Janet Roberts on June 22, 1956 in
Salt Lake City, Utah. After completing schooling and graduating from high
school in Monroe, he attended Snow College in Ephraim, Utah where he graduated
from the two-year curriculum and then attended the University of Utah,
attaining a degree in accounting. Delbert worked for many years in New York
City for the Internal Revenue Service. Believing World War II was coming, he
joined the Army Reserve receiving a lieutenant commission. When the US joined
the War, he was immediately sent to England and from there to the invasion of
North Africa and then the invasion of Italy. After completing the time for
active war duty, he was returned to the States where he negotiated war
contracts and then later canceling war contracts. Delbert returned to the U.
of U. securing a degree in chemical engineering. He retired from the Bureau of
Mines at the University of Utah. Delbert is survived by three sisters: Pearl
Y. Christensen, Elsinore, Utah, Ileen Y. Sorensen, Magna, Utah and Hope Y.
Salt, of Salt Lake City, Utah; numerous nephews and nieces. He is preceded in
death by his wife, Janet and his sister, Ruth Y. Butler. Graveside services
for Delbert will be held on Monday, February 14, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mt.
Olivet Cemetery, 500 South 1342 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. A Viewing will be
held on Monday morning from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary,
3251 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment: Mt. Olivet Cemetery,
500 South 1342 E. Funeral Directors: The Holbrook Mortuary.
