Alexander, Leslie Walter
Leslie Walter Alexander Beloved Husband  and Father  MAGNA- Leslie "Les"
Alexander, passed away Tuesday morning, January 4, 2005 as a result of a
massive heart attack while surrounded by his loving family.  Les was born
August 10, 1930, in Buhl, Idaho to James Jackson and Mabel Byrne Alexander.
Les married Lessene "Senie" Calhoun, August 20, 1950 in Buhl, Idaho and later
their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He attended school in
Idaho and in 1948 enlisted in the Army. Les was discharged February 1950 and
then was recalled later that year to serve in the Korean conflict. After being
discharged in 1953 he moved his family to Utah and built his home in Magna,
Utah. He worked for Kennecott Copper Refinery where he retired in 1985 after
32 years of service. Les was a member of the LDS church and served in several
different callings within the church. He is survived by his wife, Senie,
children, Sandy (Kevin) Sheppick, Shauna (Steve) Johnson, Jan (Larry) Harward,
Jay (Ami) Alexander, Rick Alexander, 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren,
two on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings. The
family wishes to express their gratitude to the fantastic V.A. nursing staff
and doctors for their loving care. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m.
Friday, January 7, 2005 at the Magna Stake Center, 3084 S. 8400 W., Magna.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thurs., January 6, 2005 at Peel Funeral Home, 8525
W. 2700 S., Magna and 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.
Interment: Utah Veterans Memorial Park.

Allen, Floyd Ray
Floyd Ray Allen 1917 ~2005  Our father, grandfather, great- grandfather, Floyd
Ray Allen, 87, of Salt Lake City, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2005 of
causes incident to age. He was an uncomplicated man with strong character and
unquestionable love of family. He set the kind of living example absolutely
worth emulating. He left us in the same way he lived his life, with dignity
spiced with subtle wit almost to the end. His bright spirit and love shone
even in the last two weeks of life when his body had simply worn out. That
love will stay with us always.  Dad was born in Salt Lake City on August 10,
1917 to Orson Allen and Elizabeth Jane Russell Allen. He grew up as one of
nine children sharing a wide variety of experiences with his siblings that
have lasted a lifetime. In our family circle, tales of the large Allen family
remain legendary.  Dad was a printer by trade. He worked 40 years for the
Newspaper Agency Corporation. Nevertheless, he enjoyed his pastime. He loved
golf, bowling, working in the yard, taking walks in the early morning, and
spending time with Mom.  He started courting Mom, then Elaine Hennefer, in
November of 1935 while she was still attending East High School. They were
married on May 12, 1938 and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on October 5
that same year. Their 66+ years together have formed a wonderful relationship
that will last through eternity.  Floyd and Elaine raised four boys, making
the necessary sacrifices to allow each child to succeed in his realm of
interest. Dad took exceptional pride in his family and never hesitated to brag
about his "boys" to anyone and everyone. Over the years he extended his love
and devotion for his family to 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Each loved him dearly. They affectionately referred to him as their "cute
little antique".  Religion played a central role in Floyd's life. He was a
devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in
many positions. He and Mom served a mission in the Liberty Stake in Salt Lake.
Dad later served as bishop of the Liberty 8th Ward. The two also served as
temple workers for more than 16 years. A debilitating stroke in 2003 severely
limited Floyd's capacity to serve.  Since Dad's stroke, Mom devoted her energy
to do everything possible to help him enjoy his last two years. Aside from
making him comfortable, she made sure he remained an integral part of the
family. His influence never diminished with his sons, grandchildren, or
great-grandchildren. Floyd is survived by his wife Elaine, four sons C. Dwayne
(Marilyn) of Arizona, F. Kent (Irmgard) of Germany, Craig L. Ann) of Texas,
and M. Scott (Carolyn) of Bountiful, Utah. He is also survived by his twin
brother Lloyd Jay Allen. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister
Elva, and brothers Melvin, Lester, Vernon, Lawrence, Earl, and Clyde. 
Services will be held on Wednesday, January 5th at 12:00 noon at the Colonial
Hills First Ward, 1455 South 1700 East in Salt Lake. A viewing will be at
Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive on Tuesday, January 4th
from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to the
services on Wednesday. We will bury our father at Wasatch Lawn. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Residence Hospice by
CareSource, 1624 E. 4500 S., Salt Lake City, UT  84117. The great staff there
provided loving care for Floyd and comfort to the family during his last days.

Beckstead, Mae Ovard
Mae Ovard Beckstead In Loving Memory  1913 - 2005  Mae Ovard Beckstead, 91,
died at the Holladay Health Care Center of natural causes on January 3, 2005. 
Mae was born April 19, 1913, in American Fork, Utah to Lindsey and Orpha
Ovard. She married Dean N. Beckstead on September 1, 1933 in the Salt Lake
Temple. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints and held several positions within the church. She volunteered for 18
years at the LDS Hospital and was on the committee that built the Heritage
House in Murray, Utah. She is preceded in death by husband, Dean N. Beckstead;
brothers Joseph Ovard, Glen Ovard. She is survived by her son, DeMont
Beckstead and his wife Jolene, three grandchildren, five great-grand-children,
and one great-great-grandson; sisters Fae Heaps and Beth Wride and brothers
Wyaman Ovard and Jay Ovard.  Viewing will be held on Friday, January 7, 2005
from 10:00 to 11:00 am with Memorial Services to follow at 11:00 a.m. at
Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy. (10600 So.). Interment
South Jordan City Cemetery. The Family would like to thank the Holladay Health
Care Center staff for their years of care and concern for Mae Beckstead. We
would also like to thank the Hospice Care for their concern for our family.

Beless Jr., James Warren
James W. Beless 1915 ~ 2005  James Warren Beless, Jr., died in Salt Lake City
of cardiac causes on December 31, 2004. He was born May 16, 1915 at Salt Lake
City, Utah to J. Warren and Lena Myers Beless. Jim graduated from East High
School and received B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Utah. He
attended Harvard Law School as a special student. He was a Sigma Chi, Phi Beta
Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Delta Theta Phi and Skull and Bones. He married June
Callister. Jim served as a Special Agent of the FBI during World War II. He
was trust officer at Tracy-Collins Trust Company for six years, then practiced
law as sole practitioner until his death. He served two terms on Utah State
Bar grievance committee and was a bar examiner. He was admitted to the Supreme
Court of the United States. He was senior warden at All Saints and St. Paul's
Episcopal Churches and was chancellor of the Episcopal Diocese of Utah for
nine years. Since 1991 he has been an active member of First Congregational
Church, serving as deacon and trustee. Jim has served as president of Harvard
Club of Utah, Harvard Law Association of Utah, Utah Chapter of Society of
X-FBI Agents, Delta Theta Phi legal fraternity and Sigma Chi Alumni of Utah
and director of Associated Harvard Alumni. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Lodge
No.2, Scottish Rite 33rd degree and EI Kalah shrine, and he received the Hiram
award for Masonic and community service. He belonged to the Alta Club. He was
well known as obedience handler for his German Shepherd dog partner Julie CD
and his dog Lori, his Best Friends. He was the author of Freemen and
Freemasons, a Masonic reader, which collected his 12 previously published
Masonic historical essays, also two articles in the Utah Historical Quarterly
as biographer of Bishop Daniel S. Tuttle and the history of the Episcopal
Church in Utah, four articles in the Utah Bar Journal, and two essays
regarding his own genealogy. Jim is survived by his wife June, daughter
Rosemary J. Beless, Salt Lake City, Utah; son Daniel J. Beless, M.D. (Sue
Muller, M.D.); and grandsons Christopher James Beless and Patrick Beless,
Atlanta, GA. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 6, 2005 at 1:00 p.m.
at First Congregational Church, 2150 South Foothill Drive, with interment at
Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Jim and his family suggest

Bentley, Robert Frederic
Robert Frederic Bentley 1937 ~ 2004  Robert Frederic Bentley died Thursday,
December 30, 2004.   Born August 17, 1937 in El Paso, Texas.   He is survived
by his wife, Rebecca and eight amazing children, Elizabeth (Robert) Gunnell,
Andrea (Darren) Rollins, Robert T. (Angela) Bentley, Joanna (Scott) Lee, J.
Richard (Chanda) Bentley, Brian L. (Janna) Bentley, Mark F. (Lori) Bentley, C.
Blake Bentley and 23 grandchildren.  In addition, Bob has five surviving
brothers and sisters, and a loving mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Benner A. Hall.   Bob and Becky were married February 2, 1962 in the Mesa
Arizona Temple and have had great adventures together for almost 43 years. 
Bob served a mission in Argentina for the LDS church.  He was a funny, tender,
and kind friend, husband, father and grandfather.  He loved music of almost
any kind.  A fine choral conductor, he played the piano, trumpet, pipe, (in
bottle bands), and had a lovely tenor voice.  He was an attorney, graduating
from NYU Law School in 1965.  Bob will be greatly missed by his family and
friends.   Visitation will be held at Bunker's Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial
Way, Mesa, AZ from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2005.  Services will be
held at the LDS Brimhall Ward building, 1249 S. 48th St., Mesa, AZ at 10:00
a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2005, with visitation one-hour prior to services.

Brunstad, Irving Otto
Irving Otto Brunstad 1913 ~ 2005 Irving Otto Brunstad died January 1, 2005 in
Boise, Idaho at age 91 due to complications from a stroke. He was surrounded
by the family that loved him as he passed from this life to the next.  Born
August 23, 1913, at Petaluma, California, he was the second son of Jens Karl
and Ragnhild Lervik Brunstad. Married Mae Banks, October 16, 1941 in Salt Lake
City; solemnized October 16, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was educated in
Oakland, CA, where he was subsequently employed by Safeway Stores as a store
manager for eight years prior to being drafted into the Army on October 24,
1941. He was separated from the Army in May, 1946, in Salt Lake City after
returning from the European Theater of War after World War II. He later joined
the Army Reserve as a teacher at the US Army Reserve School at Ft. Douglas. He
retired from the Army on September 29, 1967 with a rank of Lt. Col., as the
Assistant Commandant of the USAR School. He was employed in sales and
management by several major candy companies. He retired in 1978 as Manager of
Manpower, Inc. and fulfilled an LDS Mission with his wife to the Australia
Perth Mission. Irv was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints October 4, 1941. An active member of the church, he worked
diligently to magnify each calling: Aaronic Priesthood Advisor, Sunday School
teacher, member of Sunday School presidencies four times, Assistant Ward
Clerk, High Priest Group Leader, member of the stake High Council, counselor
in the Bishopric of the Capitol Hill First Ward, Branch President of the Salt
Lake Home, and Stake Employment Specialist. He was a volunteer worker on
Temple Square and an Ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple with his wife
for 10 years. Irv is survived by two sons: Paul (Charlene), Boise, Idaho; and
Terry (Nancy), Antioch, California; 10 grandchildren, and two great
grandchildren. He lost the love of his life when his wife of 57 years passed
away in December of 1997. He was also preceded in death by his parents and
three brothers while still in his youth. He will be remembered for his
cheerful personality, and as one who truly loved his family and his fellow
men. He will be missed by all who knew him.  Services will be held at the
Capitol Hill First Ward, 413 N. West Capitol St. at noon on Friday, Jan. 7,
2005. Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, Thurs. evening from 6-8 p.m. and at
the ward one hour prior. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. The family is
grateful to the nurses, doctors, and staff of the VA hospital in Boise (where
he moved in 2002 to be closer to his family) whose consideration, compassion,
and skill made the last part of Irv's life as pleasant and comfortable as
possible to the end.

Churchtown, Jane Marie
Jane Marie Churchtown "We Love You, Mom"  Jane Marie Churchtown, 79, passed
away January 4, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Born Sept. 18, 1925 in San
Pedro, CA to Gendron Preston and Vera May Rupley Bullington. Married James
Edward Churchtown in Long Beach, CA on June 14, 1947. He died March 10, 2004.
Survived by children, Kathleen Ann Culley (Rod), James E. Churchtown, Jr.
(Janet), Curtis C. Churchtown (Annette), Naomi J. Stevens (Carl); 16
grandchildren; 16 great-grand-children; sister, Lee Knight of California; and
a very special niece, Carol Butler. Preceded in death by one granddaughter.
Funeral services Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Utah Veterans
Memorial Park Chapel, 17111 So. Camp Williams Rd., where friends may call
10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Park.

Denos, Edythe Rula Barlow
Edythe Rula Barlow Denos 1933 ~ 2005  Edythe Rula Barlow Denos passed away
January 4, 2005 from pneumonia. She returned to the loving arms of her
Heavenly Father now free from her earthly struggles she endured most of her
adult life.  She was born February 19, 1933, daughter of Edmund Francis and
Ethel Moon Barlow. Married Louis Frank Denos; later divorced. She leaves
behind her daughters, Christy (Leonard) Penrod, Kathleen Knutson, Debra
Ramadan; son, Michael (Janis) Denos; brothers, Joseph (Connie), Don, Hugh
(Diane), Julian (Sally); 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and
nephews. Also preceded in death by brother, Ian; sister-in-law, Judy.  The
family would like to extend a very special thanks to Heritage Care Centers for
the care of their mother. Funeral services will be held Thurs., 12:00 noon at
the Mountainview Ward, 5980 South 1300 West. A viewing will be held Wed., 6-8
p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd and Thurs. at the church,

Esplin, Kent C.
Kent C. Esplin 1923 ~ 2005  1 January 2005 Kent Chamberlain Esplin was
released from his crippled, painful body and gratefully returned to the
embrace of his loving wife Alice, who preceded him in death and whom he has
greatly missed. Alice died in 1985 and in 1989 Kent married Evelyn Jones, who
died in 2000. Kent was born on 4 July 1923 in Cedar City, Utah to Francis
Allen (Frant) Esplin and Ann Amelia (Annie) Chamberlain. He was preceded in
death by siblings, Gordon, Carolyn, Don and Laurel, granddaughter Shauna Smith
and son-in-law David Thomas. Kent left six children Ron (Judy) Esplin, Renee
(Leo) Luckau, Patricia (Jon) Faddis, David Esplin, Laree (Ken) Mecham, and
Brent (Alice) Esplin. He enjoyed and was proud of his 32 grandchildren (and
spouses) and his 25 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sister Glenna
Josephson and brother Paul Esplin. Ken and Alice were married eternally in the
St. George Temple in May 1943. They lived in Cedar City, Beaver, and several
places in the Salt Lake Valley. In 1954 they founded Perma-Pak a pioneer in
assisting with the food storage and emergency preparedness. He was general
manager until his health forced him to sell in 1976. LDS church service
included bishop's counselor, Elder's quorum president, stake missionary, scout
master, High Priest teacher, ward and stake clerk, and temple worker. Kent
will be missed by all who looked to him for counsel and compassion. Services
will be held Friday, 7 January 2005, at the Winder Stake Center, 4400 S. 15th
E., at 1:00 p.m. A viewing will precede the services from 12:00 to 12:40 p.m.
Visitors may also call at the Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland
Drive, on Thursday, 6 January 2005, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Forsberg, Leola Young
Leola Young Forsberg 1918 ~ 2005  Leola Young Forsberg, 87, beloved wife,
mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend passed away January
2, 2005 surrounded by her children. Leola was born February 12, 1918 in Salt
Lake City to Joseph Leroy Young and Lila Bernice Barber Young. She attended
school in the Salt Lake area and graduated from South High School. She married
Francis R. Forsberg in the Salt Lake LDS Temple September 23, 1937. She
"survived" raising five children, Ruth, Robert, Linda, Jean Ann (died at age
two), and Laurel. She had the opportunity of serving in many church callings
including Relief Society president, temple worker, director at the Beehive
House, and ward organist for many years. She loved singing in choirs and
performing with friends. She had a talent for handwork of any kind and shared
the beautiful things she made with family and friends. In the last few years
her eyesight was greatly diminished, but with the help of some dear friends,
she was able to make many quilts for needy children. She was a wonderful
homemaker and excellent cook. She dedicated her life to her family.  We love
you, Mom. She is survived by children Ruth (Gary) Tingey, Robert (Merl Lyn)
Forsberg, Linda (Roger) Matern, Laurel (Lee) Duncan; 20 grandchildren; 54« 
great-grandchildren.  The family extends special thanks for tireless service
to Dr. Val Hansen, Vista Care Hospice, the staff at Lakeview Hospital, the Inn
on Barton Creek, caring neighbors and friends. We also express our heartfelt
gratitude to her grandchildren for countless meals, visits, yard-care parties,
and quiet service. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 7, 2005 at
11:00 a.m. at the Centerville 3rd Ward Chapel, 900 South 400 East,

Gardner Sr., R. Kenton Ken
R . Kenton Ken Gardner Sr.  1942 ~ 2005  Ken Gardner passed away suddenly on
January 1, 2005 of natural causes.  Born on July 15, 1942 in Roosevelt, Utah
to Harold J. Gardner and Annie Ella Hall.  Ken was active for over 30 years in
the Salt Lake County Democratic Party and worked as a long-time lobbyist on
behalf of working men and women through his job at the Utah State AFL-CIO. Ken
is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Harold Jay; his sister Patsy
Ann and his son James Steven. He is survived by his sons Ronald K. (Becky)
Gardner, Jr.; Jeffrey Blaine (Kristi); Richard Allen (Karrie; and Jason Scott
(Jennifer) as well as his siblings Suanne (James) Lusk; R. Chad (Deanna) and
Maridee (Rickee) Taylor and 12 grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m.
Wed., January 5th, at the McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd. Funeral
services beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Thurs. January 6, 2005 at the First
Unitarian Church, 569 S. 1300 E., with visitation beginning one hour prior to
the service. Interment at the Roosevelt City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be sent to the Salt Lake County Democratic Party or a charity of
your choice.

Hetherington, Doyle L.
Doyle L. Hetherington 1927 ~ 2005   Doyle L. Hetherington passed away
peacefully January 3, 2005 in Salt Lake City.  Dad was born May 10, 1927 in
Gotebo, Oklahoma to Buna F. Baker and Alonzo A. Hetherington. Dad served
during World War II in the Merchant Marines on the Victory Ships as well as in
the US Army. He married Patsy Allen on October 29, 1946 in Belleville,
Illinois. Dad was in the cattle business all his life. He is survived by his
wife, Patsy; children: Linda Charbonneau, Susan (Gary) Burns, Robert (Mary)
Hetherington and Mark (Peggy) Hetherington; 13 grandchildren; 14
great-grandchildren; three loving sisters: LeVate (Don) Stewart, Vera
(Emerson) Varin and Evelyn (Charles) Haxton; and many nieces and  nephews. 
Preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.Special thanks to the staff
of Federal Heights Rehabilitation Center for all the love and care given to
dad over the last two and a half years, as well as hospice during the last few
months. "Ole cowboys don't die, they just ride off into the sunset." Graveside
services will be Friday, 2:00 p.m. at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South
Redwood Road. Family and friends may visit Friday, 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. at
McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road.

Higgins, Timothy Earl
Timothy Earl Higgins 04/02/52 ~ 12/31/04  Timothy was born in Wichita, Kansas
to Edward Hobson Higgins and Zezal Chapman Higgins. He served his country as a
member of the Army Special Forces. He was an accountant for the State of
Arizona. He walked through life as a gentle, caring man.  Preceded in death by
his lifelong friend, Jerry J. Neve, his mother and father, and sister, Haze.
Survived by his brother, Henry A. Higgins and sister, Ruth I. Womack and Aaron
P. Higgins, of Wichita, Kansas, and many loving friends and loved ones who
called him Mr. Tim and Uncle Tim.

Homer, Jack Kenneth
Jack Kenneth Homer 1926 ~ 2005  Jack Kenneth Homer, age 78, passed away on
January 2, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah.He was born on November 13, 1926 in
Salt Lake City to Kenneth John Homer and Della Arnup. He attended schools in
Salt Lake City and married Merle Dee Scott on January 26, 1952 in Salt Lake
City. Jack passed away from the complications of emphysema surrounded by his
family. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II at Iwo Jima, The
Marshall Islands, and Japan. He also served in the Navy during the Korean War.
He was employed as a design engineer by Standard Oil, Torkelsons, and Ford,
Bacon and Davis. He loved working with his hands and especially loved camping,
hunting, and fishing with his family. He enjoyed playing golf with his work
associates. He was a compassionate and loving father and husband. His smiles
and sense of humor will be greatly missed. The family wishes to extend thanks
to the doctors and nurses of the STRICU unit at LDS Hospital for kind and
exceptional care for Dad and his family. He is survived by his daughters: 
Debra (Lee) Deming and Jackie Salerno, seven grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his loving wife who passed away
shortly after their 50th wedding anniversary, his parents, and his brother
Richard (Dick). Graveside services will be Thursday, January 6 at 1:00 p.m. at
Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park at 3401 Highland Drive. The family will receive
friends on Wednesday, January 5 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn
Mortuary. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Itchon, Ruth E.
Ruth E. Itchon 3/3/16 ~12/31/04  Ruth Itchon passed away at home the morning
of New Year's Eve, after a lingering illness. She was born in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania to Charles and Margaret Whittle. Married Ben Itchon on Christmas
Eve 1934 in Pennsylvania. She is survived by her son, Ted (Lynn);
grandchildren, Beth, Lisa, Michelle, Monica, and Thomas and 10
great-grandchildren.  Preceded in death by her husband, Ben; brothers, Ted,
Howard, and Stanley. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, January 6th at
11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker, 7405 S. Redwood Rd. A viewing will be
held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood
Rd. The family would like to thank Harmony Hospice for their tender, loving
care, with a special thanks to Ruth's nurses, Michele and Gaylinn. The family
would also like to thank Reverend Ira Popper and his family for their love and
prayers.

Jacobson, Mildred Elvera Dean
Mildred Elvera Dean Jacobson 1916 ~ 2005  Mildred Elvera Dean Jacobson, 88,
died Jan. 3, 2005 in Ogden, UT. Born July 22, 1916 in Woodruff, Utah to John
Arthur and Elvera (Olend) Dean. Married Mynard Achel Jacobson on March 13,
1937 in Randolph, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan
Temple. She was active in the LDS Church, served in many callings and
especially loved her Guide Patrol boys. Mildred enjoyed music, sang at
weddings, funerals, and in the ward choir. She loved her role as wife and
mother, and delighted in cooking for her family and friends.  Survivors
include: children; Dean (Elizabeth) of Rexburg, ID; Larry (Marilyn) of North
Ogden, UT; Ross (Kaye) of Nibley, UT; Kib (Leisa) and Cheryl (Calvin)
Richards, of Kaysville, UT; 35 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; brother,
Grant (Donnella) Dean, of Woodruff, UT; half brother, Arlo Dean, Lyman, WY;
half sister, Rose (Bruce) Groll, Fortuna, MO. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Mynard; son, Dennis; daughter-in-law, Diana; grandchildren, Kent and
Madison; parents; brothers, Lyndon and Carl. A special thanks to Manor Care &
Vista Care in Ogden, Ut. for their attentive service. Funeral service will be
on Saturday, January 8, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. in the Randolph LDS Chapel.
Friends may call at the Crandall Funeral Home, Evanston, WY on Friday evening,
January 7, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to the
service. Interment will be in the Randolph Cemetery.

Jorgensen, Abbie L.
Abbie L. Jorgensen1911 ~2004  Abbie Lorine Lee Jorgensen, 93, passed away Dec.
30, 2004, at home in Sandy, UT. Abbie was born May 29, 1911, in Tooele, UT to
John LeRoy and Emma Huffaker Lee. She graduated from Tooele High School. She
married H.M. Jorgensen in 1929 (later divorced). She worked at Auerbach's
department store for 33 years. After retiring, she divided her time living
with family in Las Vegas and Moberly, MO. In 1995 she moved to Sandy where she
enjoyed the friendship of many at Alta View Estates. Abbie was an active
member of the LDS Church. She is survived by her children, Lee of Salt Lake;
John (Jackie) of Moberly, MO; Diane Heath of Sandy and Karen Ravelo of Las
Vegas; 19 grandchildren, 56 great-grand-children, one
great-great-grand-daughter and sisters, Lillian Hadlock and Phoebe Myler.
Viewing will be from 10-11:30 a.m. on Fri., Jan. 7, at Larkin Sunset Gardens,
1950 E. 10600 S., Sandy, where funeral services will follow at noon. Interment
at Tooele City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be
sent to the LDS Humanitarian Fund for relief in South Asia.

Joseph, Catherine Alberta "Bo"
Catherine Alberta "Bo" Joseph 1936 ~ 2004  Catherine Alberta Joseph, age 68,
passed away Sunday January 2, 2005, in Salt Lake City, Utah.  She was born
October 5, 1936 in Panguitch, Utah the daughter of Reuben Albert and Maurine
Bullock Joseph. Graduated from South High School and went on to receive her
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech and Drama from the University of Utah. She
taught at Cypruss High School in Magna, where she taught speech and debate.
Most of her career was in Anaheim, California where she taught at Trident
Junior High School and Loara High School. She retired in 1993. She had many
accomplished debate teams, and directed several plays such as "The Fantastics"
and "Our Town." Her students won numerous awards in local, regional, and
national speech competitions. Bo loved the arts and held theater tickets in
Los Angeles for many years. She also loved to collect Lladros and Faberge
eggs.  Catherine is survived by; three sisters, Karen (husband Leland) Gygi,
Irene Mitchell, Ruth (husband James) Duke; one brother, Richard (wife Ruth)
Sidwell; one sister-in-law, Blanche Sidwell; 38 nieces and nephews; many great
nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; sister Betty and her
husband Ralph Henderson; brother Robert Sidwell; and three nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 6, 2005, 12:00 noon at the
Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, where friends may call from 10:45
a.m. to 11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment: Mt Olivet Cemetery.  In lieu

Larkin, Neva Marie Gwynn
Neva Marie Gwynn Larkin 1911 ~ 2005  CENTERVILLE Neva Marie Gwynn Larkin, age
93, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2005 in Syracuse, Utah.  She was born June 21,
1911 in Woods Cross, Utah, the daughter of Andrew and Lilly Johnson Gwynn. She
was the fourth of five children. Neva was a 1929 graduate of Davis High
School. She also attended LDS Business College. She married Nephi Arnold
Larkin, October 12, 1932 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They began their married
life in the small rural community of Snowville, Utah, where her husband had
grown up. In 1944, the family moved to Nyssa, Oregon, when her husband took a
job with the Amalgamated Sugar Company. In 1947, they moved across the Snake
River to a farm located between the communities of Fruitland and New Plymouth,
Idaho, where they reared their family. After retiring from their farm in 1971,
the remainder of their years were spent living in Centerville, Utah. After 48
years of marriage, Nephi passed away July 28, 1981. Neva was a dedicated
member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and belonged to the
Daughters of Utah Pioneers.  She served faithfully in many callings in the
church including many years as a Family History worker and teacher. She spent
many hours creating various articles for the Church's Humanitarian Aid
Program. Neva was a devoted mother and homemaker, who loved sewing, gardening,
and cooking. She deeply cared for her family, friends and neighbors, and was
always willing to care for the sick and those in need. She is survived by her
five children: Birdeen Willardson of Centerville, Utah; Douglas (Fae) Larkin
of Sacramento, California; Sheldon (Shirley) Larkin of Springville, Utah; Fern
Marie (Lee) Roberts of Kennewick, Washington; Delia (Bernard) Smith of
Syracuse, Utah; 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in
death were her parents, her husband, two brothers, (Lawrence and Raymond), two
sisters, (Juliet Williams and Josephine Heaton), two grandchildren and one
great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 8, 2005 at
11:00 a.m. at the Centerville First LDS Ward Chapel, 160 South 300 East,
Centerville, Utah. Friends may call at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295
North Main on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church prior to

Livingston, Fay R.
Fay R. Livingston 1920 ~ 2004  Fay R. Livingston, our beloved father,
grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend left this life December 30,
2004 to be with his eternal companion, Alice Marie, who passed away just five
months ago on July 24, 2004. Fay was born on November 24, 1920 in Rupert,
Idaho, to Claude Livingston and Sarah Robertson. His mother died just nine
days before his eleventh birthday, and his father passed away five years
later. His experiences taught him character and gave him the fortitude
necessary to meet and overcome life's challenges. He learned frugality by
living through the great depression. One of his favorite sayings was it's not
how much you earn, it's how much you save . His education was furthered after
high school in Weiser, Idaho where he met Marie. After the attack on Pearl
Harbor, Fay served in the army and was stationed in El Paso, Texas, where he
and Marie were married on November 7, 1942. Their marriage was later
solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on November 7, 1956. After his military
duties were served, he began his 33 year career with the United States Weather
Bureau in Rupert, Idaho. He was transferred to Pocatello, Idaho, then to
Pendleton, Oregon where he retired. As a weather man , he reported the weather
on the local radio stations, where he was known throughout the area as Doc
Livingston. Fay was also an insurance agent for Northwestern Mutual Insurance.
Fay was a member of the LDS Church serving in various positions over the years
including several years in scouting, with his sons. He was currently a member
of the Kaysville 18th Ward. He loved the Savior and always tried to follow His
example. Fay is survived by his six children, Barbara Alice Dobson (Paul) Of
Allen, Texas; Robert Fay Livingston (Linda) of Post Falls, Idaho; Valden P.
Livingston (Elizabeth) of Kaysville, Utah; Sonya Marie Bonnett (the late
Michael) of Litchfield, New Hampshire; Lea Ann Braithwaite (Edwin) of St.
George, Utah; Laren Clyde Livingston of Kaysville, Utah; 14 grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren also survive him.     Funeral services will be held
Friday, Jan. 7, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No.
Fairfield Road.  Friends and family may call Thurs. from 6-8 p.m. and Friday
from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery, 500

Madsen, LaVee Baird
LaVee Baird Madsen 1915 ~ 2005  MANTI - Early in the morning on the Sabbath,
January 2, 2005, LaVee Baird Madsen, 89, our cherished mother and grandmother
slipped away from us to a wonderful reunion with many dear loved ones who had
previously departed and were awaiting her arrival.  Born November 27, 1915 in
Castle Dale, Utah to Brigham Y. and Malvina Parker Baird. Married Frank E.
Madsen, April 17, 1951 in the Manti Temple. LaVee served faithfully in the LDS
church for many years in various callings. She was a great cook and helped
prepare many meals for church functions and the Mormon Miracle Pageant. She
loved to travel and see new places. She was an excellent seamstress and made
many beautiful and comfy quilts. "We're warm and cozy thanks to you, Mom". 
Survived by her children LaNette (Chiro) Costanza of Sandy, Utah, Robert
(Connie) Madsen and Sterling Madsen of Salt Lake City; six grandchildren, 11
great-grandchildren (the 12th soon to arrive) and two
great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, husband, sister,
Adelia Baird; brothers, Mark, Ross, Ariel, LuDene, Alma, Albert, Elbert, and
John.  Special thanks to the staffs at Golden Skyline Assisted Living in
Ephraim and Hazen Care Center in Salt Lake City for their kindness.  Funeral

McClellan, Dorothy Bowman "Dottie"
Dorothy "Dottie" Bowman McClellan "Service"  Our beloved mother, grandmother,
sister, aunt, neighbor and friend, Dorothy "Dottie" Bowman McClellan passed
away January 1, 2005. Born August 24, 1917, in El Paso, Texas, to Claudious
Bowman and Jennie Stark Robinson, (who were driven out of Mexico in 1912 by
Pancho Villa's army). As a young child, she returned with her family to
Colonia Dublan, Chihuahua, Mexico, where she grew to adulthood. She graduated
from Juarez Stake Academy, then attended BYU, where she graduated with a
Bachelor's of Science degree. She served a mission in Mexico from Oct. 1937 to
Oct. 1939. She married Hugh D. McClellan in the Salt Lake Temple, 3 May 1944
and was later divorced. Dorothy's middle name was "Service", to which the many
people who have received of her selfless service can attest. She studied to
become a teacher, and for 21 years (1962-1983) she taught first and third
grades in Granite School District. Previously she taught at Juarez Stake
Academy, two months in Tacna, Peru, and two yrs. in Toquepala, Peru.  She
influence for good hundreds of young children. She spent all her life in
service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in many capacities,
including teacher, Relief Society presidencies, stake callings, chorister, and
Compassionate Service. Dorothy will always be remembered for her velvet
contralto voice, which she used to bless the lives of many by singing solos,
duets, in groups and in choruses. But she is most loved for the many times she
sang with her brothers  it sounded heavenly! Music was a big part of her life.
In her young years she played saxophone in the school band, and accordion, and
was an accomplished pianist. She was a great cook and her scrumptious
home-made candy trays at Christmas will be sorely missed. Survived by four of
her five children: Claudette (Randal Rayl), Hugh Devon (Teresa), Donald Brent
(Susan), Robert Bruce (Peggy); brothers Bardell, Keith, Donn, Wesley, Maurice;
brother in law Dale Criddle, sister-in-law Nelle; many nieces, nephews and
cousins; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren (and two more on the way).
Preceded in death by her parents, brothers Claudious Jr. and Tracy Reed,
sister Kathleen, and daughter Karen. Funeral services will be held Fri. Jan.
7th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Winder 6th Ward Chapel, 4366 S. 1500 E., where a
viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. prior to services. Family
and friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary,

McKinney, Jana L.
Jana L. McKinney 1931 ~ 2004  Jana McKinney died on December 31, 2004 at the
age of 73. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a generous,
considerate, vivacious, sensitive person who always showed concern for others.
Jana was born on September 11, 1931 in Sudan, Texas to Gussie and Alton
Lumpkin. She had a hard life growing up in West Texas during the Depression.
She moved with her family to Arizona where she finished her school years and
was awarded a scholarship to the University of Arizona where she met her
future husband, Bill. They were married in 1952 during her sophomore year in
college and shortly afterwards had two daughters. She returned to the
university eight years later and received a degree in Elementary Education.
She and her family lived in Tucson, Arizona for 13 years until her husband's
job took them to Salt Lake City in 1965. She enjoyed traveling to many foreign
countries. She was extremely interested in learning about the people and their
culture during these visits. She and her family also got much pleasure camping
in nearly all the national parks in the western U.S. and Canada. Since her
husband's retirement she has enjoyed spending the winters on the beach in
southern California. Jana had a great love of nature and could identify
numerous species of birds and wildflowers. She was president of the Utah
Audubon Society for two years and fought to preserve native wetlands. Jana's
love for birds and creatures of the earth has been deeply instilled in her
daughters and granddaughters. Jana is survived by her loving husband of 52
years, Bill, as well as her daughters Cathy McKinney and Nancy Robinson, both
of Arizona and her granddaughters Alicia and Lindsey Robinson. She is also
survived by her brother Guinn and three sisters Reba, Patty and Nedra, all
living in other states. In accordance with her wishes, Jana will be cremated.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Jan. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Cottonwood
Presbyterian Church, 1580 E. Vine St, Murray, Ut. In lieu of flowers, the
family asks that contributions be made in Jana's name to the Wesley Bell
Ringers, Christ United Methodist Church, 2375 E. 3300 S., Salt Lake City, Utah
84109.

McMeen, William Otho
William Otho McMeen 1908 ~ 2005  Our dear 96 year-old father/
grandfather/great-grandfather-known to his posterity as "Grampy"- left us on
the first morning of 2005, January 1st.William Otho McMeen, born in Dixon,
Illinois, on August 28, 1908 (parents, Edward Kurtz McMeen and Helena
Anderson) died peacefully with his wife of 17 years, Dorothy Jacobs Davey
McMeen, at his side. He was one of the "Greatest Generation." Almost living
for an entire century, "Grampy" survived his older sister Ruth, and younger
brother Bob. To get his education, he worked hard on a paper route, finally
graduating from the University of Washington in engineering. During the
depression he worked for Safeway- where his store survived a robbery. When he
finally got a job with the Bureau of Reclamation drawing spillways for dams,
he moved to Denver and met Frances Murphy (1905). They were married in 1937,
sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1946, and were married for over 50 years
until her death in 1987. They had four children, Marilyn Frances (Bill Brown),
Elaine Kay (Lawrence Flake), Sylvia Ann (Bill Whitson) and David William
McMeen (Becky Merrill). His exemplary life is characterized by his love for
the Lord and his incredible work ethic. A convert, he read the Book of Mormon
under a small lightbulb in the hull of one of the World War II destroyers lost
in Pearl Harbor. His work ethic? He never complained about working. Wisely he
purchased pieces of income property and while working at his government job
and selling Watkins products after hours, he refurbished, painted, and
restored old houses until he built an impressive estate. After his wife's
death, he remembered a cheery nurse they had known in his ward and looked her
up in Salt Lake City. Their first date was to McDonald's. Dorothy has been the
most wonderful blessing a family could ask for. Always there beside him to
read to him when his eyesight faded, always there to hold him up when he could
not walk, Dorothy and her family, Jeanne Davey, Bruce Davey (Kristen), Brent
Davey, and Marilyn Springay (Rob), plus her extended family, have all been a
great blessing in Grampy's life. This man's remarkably long life is an
impressive example of perseverance. Until a few months ago he was doing 32
pushups every day. For years he rose early, walked several miles, worked hard,
retired early, ate little. He pressed forward in everything he did with a
fastness of purpose and a love for the Lord. At every visit when asked, "How
do you feel," he said, "Fine." He woke up Saturday morning, showered, put on
his tie (he always wore a tie) and prepared to watch his favorite programs. He
loved the BYU devotionals. He also loved baseball. When he got up, he
collapsed in the hall, and his upstairs neighbor, Ray Valgardson- who built
Grampy's last properties- was the "man upstairs" who came down and lifted him
up in his arms to carry him to his last bed on this earth. Grandma Dorothy
held his hand. It couldn't have been more beautiful. Funeral services will be
held on Friday, January 7, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Spring Creek Chapel, 1745
South State Street, Provo. A viewing will be held Thursday, January 6th at
Walker Family Mortuary, 85 East 300 South, Provo from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and
Friday morning from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at

Morley, Joyce Gay Parker "Mommy"
Joyce Gay Parker Morley "Mommy "  BOUNTIFUL- Our beloved wife and mother
passed away peacefully in her childhood home, Sunday, January 2, 2005. She was
born to Clifford Franklin Parker and Lena Burningham Parker on May 29, 1935.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur C. Morley; children, Dana and Pat
Morley, son; Tim and Michelle Morley, son; Kevin and Robyn Manning, daughter;
Brent and Valerie Morley, son; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;
one great-grandchild on the way, and brother Ray and Carma Parker. "As a child
I came to you fresh from His hand. You loved me, taught me, protected me and
cared for me. As you aged, I had the privilege of loving you, protecting you
and caring for you. Today I watched you take His hand and return home. I want
to thank you for allowing me to spend these last precious years with you. You
will forever be in my thoughts, my prayers and especially in my heart. I Love
You, Mom." Funeral services will be held Friday, January 7, 2005 at 11:00 a.m.

Mortensen, Gladys Sharon
Gladys Sharon Mortensen (Bruner)  Sharon passed away in her family's home town
in Glenville, West Virginia on January 3, 2005 She will be missed by all who
knew her. Sharon knew everyone and everyone knew or wanted to know her.  She
touched the lives of her children and many, many friends and extended family
very much. She was married to Gordon Mortensen, Aug.17, 1994. She is survived
by her husband, sons Steve, Joe and Mike, daughters Kirsten and Amanda and
five grandchildren.  A celebration of Sharon's life here in Utah will be held
for family and friends on Fri. Jan 7th from 6:00-8:00 pm at 1142 Southwest

Nelson, Dallas Eliason (Swede)
Dallas (Swede) Eliason Nelson Ret.Col . 1/1/1927 ~ 1/2/2005 Dallas was born in
Brigham City, Utah to David George Nelson Jr. and Mattie Eliason Nelson. The
family home was in Snowville, Utah where he attended grade school. Dallas
graduated from Bear River High School in Tremonton, UT, and after graduation,
and only 17 years old, he enlisted in the Navy where he served two and a half
years during World War II. He attended and graduated from Utah State
University on the GI Bill. He graduated from R.O.T.C. as a Second Lt. just in
time to be called into the army during the Korean Conflict. He spent three
years with the occupation troops in Germany. All total, Dallas served his
country in active service and reserve for 34 years, retiring as a Bird
Colonel. Upon returning home from Germany, Dallas met and married Margaret
Sutton, November 21, 1954 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The marriage was later
solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. School teaching was his occupation and
he taught a total of 30 years at Bountiful High, South Davis Junior High, and
Woods Cross High in the History Dept. Dallas was also an expert in the sheet
rocking business as an extra job. He was a member of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. Dallas loved
sports, the Jazz, football, ping-pong, golf, etc. He won trophies for
ping-pong in the army in Germany and Ft. Ord, CA. He collected golf trophies
from golf courses across Utah, and was proud of the four holes-in-one he
achieved. He enjoyed seeing his son, nephews, and grandsons play sports.
Dallas worked 25 years at Lakeside Golf Course, a place he called "home". 
Dallas is survived by his wife, and two daughters, Jena Nelson and Joni Lunt;
daughter-in-law, Carole Nelson and sister, Mary Kay Bigler. He was proud to be
the grandfather of Austin Thomas Nelson, Codie Michael Nelson, Clarke Dallas
Lunt, and Jordyn Elisabeth Lunt. Preceded in death by his son, Alan Thomas
Nelson; two brothers, David G. Nelson III, Rolf Nelson; sister, Beverly Davis;

Oldham, Ned
Ned Oldham 1928 ~ 2004  LEHI - Ned Charles Oldham, 76, passed away Jan. 3,
2005, at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born May 23, 1928, in Mt.
Pleasant, UT, the son of Levar Ernest and Effie Leora Draper Oldham. He
married Vernita Durrant on Oct. 1, 1955. She died March 30, 1965. He married
Glenna Mildred Wilkinson on March 31, 1967 and they were later sealed in the
Provo LDS Temple on July 21, 1978. Ned retired from the Tooele Army Depot in
1973. His life enjoyment was his farming in Lehi. He was a High Priest in the
LDS Church and served as a Webelo leader and in the Elders Quorum presidency.
He developed the "Party Ranch" at the Lehi Farm and was a member of the Rocky
Mtn. Mule Association. He loved being with family, hunting, camping, fishing
and the outdoors. His family was the most important part of his life. Survived
by his wife Glenna of Lehi; two sons and two daughters, Chad (Lois) Oldham,
Riverton; Bret (Cheri) Oldham, Lehi; Sandra (Brad) Peay, Pleasant Grove; Julie
(Gordon) Cook, Lehi; 17 grandchildren, Mindy, Zack, Tory, Dustin, Heather,
Justin, Neil, Tanya, Whitney, Madison, Kaitlyn, Alicia, Aaron, Ben, Nick,
Alyssa, Kraig; one great grandson, Ethan; a sister, Jean Olsen, Mt. Pleasant;
brother-in-law, Tom Critchley, North Salt Lake; and a sister-in-law, Nelda
Oldham, Payson. The family expresses special thanks to the Vista Care hospice
staff for their kind care. Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at
11:00 a.m. in the Lehi 2nd Ward Chapel, 465 E 300 N, Lehi. Family and friends

Olsen, Ilene M.
Ilene M.Olsen 12/26/49 ~ 1/2/05  Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother,
Ilene Marie Johnson Olsen, returned to her Heavenly Father on Sunday after a
long illness, surrounded by her family. She was born in Massachusetts to Leo
and Elin Johnson. Married to Boyd Olsen.  She is survived by her husband; two
children, Jennifer L. (Michael) Wagner and Erik B. (Becky) Olsen; four
grandchildren, Mitchell, Amber, Alysha and Abbie Wagner; sister, Carol Glen
and brothers, Steven, David and Robert Johnson. Graveside services will be
held Friday, January 7th, 11:00 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Cemetery, 6500 S.
Redwood Rd. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. We love you mom
and grandma.  You will be missed.

Rideout, Virginia Cahoon
Virginia Cahoon Rideout Will Be Missed Virginia Cahoon Rideout died Jan. 3,
2005 of natural causes.  She will be remembered for her gracious hospitality,
especially spaghetti dinners and her love of her family. She gave generously
of her time as an advocate for young people and served in many capacities for
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Much of her life was spent in
the field of education as she guided teachers and students to excellence and
always cared for those less  fortunate. Survived by children Dave (Jan)
Rideout, Steve (Candy) Rideout, Dan (Jane) Rideout and Shelley (Ken) Watson,
25 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Preceded
in death by parents, husband, sister Janice C. Romney. A visitation for family
and friends viewing will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Friday, Jan.
7, 2005 at the Holladay 10th Ward, 4601 S. 2565 E. Graveside only as she
wished will be held at the Holladay Memorial Cemetery, dedication at 1:00 p.m.
The family appreciated the tender care given by Care Source and Hospice.

Sadler, Mary Ellen
Mary Ellen Sadler 1919 ~ 2005  DRAPER/BLUFFDALE - Mary Ellen Gentry Sadler,
85, died January 3, 2005 of natural causes.  She was born February 27, 1919 in
St. George, Utah to Harry and Viola McAllister Gentry. She married Roy Sadler
on November 2, 1943 in the St. George LDS Temple. Mary Ellen enjoyed working
in the Salt Lake and Jordan River LDS Temple and she served an LDS Mission to
the Chicago LDS Temple with her husband. Survivors: husband, Roy, Draper/
Bluffdale; daughters, Mrs. Robin (Jean) Reading, Draper/Bluffdale; Diane
Palmer, Mt. Pleasant; 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; brothers,
Dwayne Gentry and C. Eldon Gentry, both St. George.  Funeral services will be
held Friday, January 7, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. in the Draper LDS Stake Center,
13400 South 1300 East. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary 8090 So. State
Thursday 6-8 p.m. or Friday at the church from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Interment, Draper Cemetery.

Shields, Myrle M.
Myrle M. Shields "Together Forever"  Myrle Miner Shields, 84, passed from the
loving arms of her family into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father January
2, 2005.  Born February 6, 1920 in Hinckley, Utah, to George Deleaze Miner and
Lillie Elizabeth Anderson Miner. She married Vaughn E. Shields on September 2,
1936 in American Fork, later solemnized in the Logan Temple. Myrle was a
hairstylist for over 45 years. She and dad loved to bowl, golf and took great
pride in their yard and garden. She especially loved her roses. Mom took care
of dad through his long illness with Alzheimer's. She won the battle of two
cancer ordeals and endured a three-year illness with courage and dignity to
the end. A life-long member of the LDS church, she had a lot of faith and
survived many challenges.  Myrle is survived by her brother, Darwin Miner
(Bonnie); one son, Earl V. Shields (Barbara); two daughters, Joane S. Gile
(Darrell), Marlene S. Feurer (Ralph), 11 grandchildren and many great and even
some great-great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all of us. Preceded in
death by her husband, Vaughn E. Shields; one grandson, Kyle Shields; numerous
brothers including a twin brother, and two sisters. Very special thanks to
those who took the time to visit her, the Wentworth at Union Park, and a very
special angel, "Whitey." She was only at Highland Cove with Legacy Hospice for
three days, but they kept her comfortable and out of pain. A special nurse
there, Laurie, helped her and our family as she prepared to leave this world.

care or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 102454, Atlanta, GA 30368-2454.
Funeral services will be held January 5, 2005 at 12:30 p.m. at the Murray 21st

Ren‚e Thomas 1/13/29 ~ 1/2/05  FARMINGTON - Dawn Renee Thomas, age 75, passed
away of natural causes on Sunday, 2 Jan 2005 in Farmington, UT. Renee was born
13 Jan 1929 in Payson, UT. She was the oldest of four children born to Rela
and Max Depew. Renee was married to Lester Larsen Thomas, later divorced. She
was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and
held a variety of positions during her lifetime. She enjoyed working with the
Young Woman. She worked as an executive secretary for many prominent business
men including CFS Financial, The University of Utah Medical Center and
Intermountain Health Care She is survived by her children, Cheri (Michael)
Ericksen; Brent (Joy) Thomas and Bart (Marsha) Thomas, and her siblings Afton
(Charles) Maurin; Ken (Kay) Depew; and Monte (Marie) Depew. She was preceded
in death by her parents. A viewing will be held Wednesday, 5 Jan 2005 from
6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary at 295 North Main
Street in Bountiful, UT. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 6 Jan 2005 at

Torgersen, Gene Earl
Gene Earl Torgersen "A Man of Integrity"  Our beloved husband, father,
grandfather, son, brother passed away early on New Year's Day surrounded by
his family. After many years of painful suffering, Daddy is finally at rest.
He was born January 28th 1929 in Salt Lake City, to Erling Olaf and Ella
Koplin Torgersen.  Dad's curiosity and love of learning were always a part of
him. Educated in the public schools of Salt Lake City he graduated from South
High and earned his BS and MA in Civil Engineering from the U of U. As he
traveled throughout his career in engineering he made many lifelong friends.
He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Intercollegiate Knights and Phi
Beta Kappa while at the U. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-53 at Ft.
Belvoir, VA. Always active in the LDS Church he served tirelessly in scouting,
in several bishoprics and as a bishop and high councilor in the Parleys Stake.
A talented musician he played the piano and organ, being called as ward
organist for the first time at the age of 13. Earl married the love of his
life, Ruth Alice Robertson on August 17th 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
One of the great joys of his life was attending dances with Ruthie while they
were courting. The father of six children, he was a wonderful and caring
daddy. He found time to support his children in their endeavors and was
extremely proud of his children and grandchildren's accomplishments. He is
survived by his wife Ruth, and his children; Chris, Teri (George) Croft, Buffy
(Brent) Epperson, Eric (Brenda), Robert (Jami), Suzy (Jim) Dowdy, brother
Russell (Mona), 26 grandchildren and two great-grand-children, to whom he was
known as "Poppo". Preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marilyn Middaugh
and an infant brother. A viewing will be held for friends and family from 6-8
p.m. on Thursday January 6th at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S.
Funeral services to be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens at 10:00 a.m. on Friday
January 7th with a viewing from 9-9:45 prior to services. Interment: Larkin
Sunset Gardens Cemetery. The family wishes to acknowledge the tender and
dignified care given to Daddy by Harmony Hospice in the final months of his
life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Red
Cross or the LDS Humanitarian Fund on behalf of the recent flood victims.

Wright, Ken
KenWright "Will Be Missed"  Dad passed away, incidence of age, at his home in
West Jordan, Utah on Jan. 4, 2005.  Born June 12, 1923 in Salt Lake City to
Grace and Thomas Wright with one sister and three brothers. Married Phyllis
Thomas on Oct. 26, 1943, sealed for time and all eternity on April 23, 1962 in
the Salt Lake Temple. Phyllis passed away in 1988. Dad was chosen by five
spirits to be their earthly father. Dad married Shirley Ann Yenglin July 4,
1994.  Ken joined the Army Air Corp in 1942 and served in Europe during World
War II. He retired after working for the State as an auditor. He further
served as active member of the DAV and VFW and was elected as State Commander
of the DAV. Dad loved the gospel and worked in the Jordan River Temple for two
and a half years. Survived by his wife, Shirley; sister, Alice; children,
Catherine Higginsen, David (Susan), Jean, Blake (Wendi), Robert (Shirley),
Judy Allison; 24 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Ken will be missed
by his family and all who knew him. As he always said, "Thank God for
families." Funeral services will be held Friday, January 7, 2005 at 11:30 a.m.
at the Mt. Jordan 2nd Ward, 9331 So. 300 E. Friends and family may call
Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State St., and
Friday from 10:30-11:15 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at the Utah
Veterans Memorial Park.
