Christopherson, Reed William
Reed William Christopherson 1924 ~ 2005 Reed William Christopherson, 81,
passed away June 28, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born March 4, 1924
in Spanish Fork to H. Reed Christopherson and Margaret Lawhorn. He was a
devoted son and brother. Most generous and willing to help others. Served with
honor in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee during World War II. Worked in the Fire
protection industry, where he made many friends. Continuous member 50 years
Sprinkler Fitters Local Union No. 669. Awarded lifetime member status. He was
loved by extended family and all that knew him. Family thanks Paul Fromhold
for his kindness and friendship, which Reed so appreciated. He is survived by
his sister, Mary Ellen (Gary) Gabrielson; nephew, Stephan (Fayone) Gabrielson
and their son Cameron; niece, Stacey Gabrielson. He was preceded in death by
parents; brothers, Paul and Ray (Reed's twin). Graveside services will be held
on Saturday, July 2, 2005 at 12:00 Noon, Spanish Fork Cemetery. Viewing Friday
evening 6-8 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 2128 So. State Street, Salt Lake
City.

Gasu, Talafu Leuma
Talafu Leuma Gasu Together Again Talafu passed away on June 24, 2005, in
Kearns Utah. He was born on October 28, 1928 in Satupaitea Savaii Western
Samoa, to Talafu Pule Gasu and Uga Siona Gasu. He married Satia Manusina in
1949 and then in 1976 sealed in the Los Angeles Temple. He was a beloved
father, grandfather, great grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all his
children. He had done so many wonderful things and had tremendous love for
all. His loving wife passed away Feb. 24, 1999. He had numerous calling in the
church, to include Branch President. Survived by 13 of 14 children,
Tautalaaso, Lotuatamaiti, Pule, Taulasi, Maria, Ioane, Puaeloa, Sani, Leva,
Malelega, Liaga, Samoatu and Lisa. Also survived by brother Tiafau Mataese
Gasu, and 46 grandchildren and 16, great grandchildren. Preceded in death by
loving wife and one son. Funeral services will be Sat. July 2, 2005, at 11:00
a.m. at the Pesega Ward, 4260 W. 5215 S. Kearns. The Family will receive
friends Fri. July 1, 2005 from 6-10 p.m. at the Pesega ward also one hour
prior to the services on Saturday.

Gonzales, Raymond J.
Raymond J. Gonzales "Ray" Raymond J. Gonzales, 85, of Salt Lake, passed away
on June 28, 2005. He was born April 17, 1920 to Felipe and Pilar Garcia
Gonzales in Nambe, New Mexico. He proudly served his country in the United
States Army during World War II as a Sergeant in the 186th Infantry Regiment
and had very fond memories of the time he spent in Australia, where he trained
and the Philippines where he was part of the Philippine Liberation Force. On
April 9, 1948 he married the love of his life, Mary Ontiveros Gonzales. They
celebrated 50 years of marriage before her passing on Jan. 16, 1999. They were
the parents of five children, four of whom survive him. Ray worked as a
glazier at Alta and Central Glass, and retired from the State of Utah. After
retirement, he became a crossing guard at Cosgriff and Our Lady of Lourdes
Catholic Schools. He was an usher at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish for over 30
years. Ray coached CYO basketball with pride and dedication and led the
1959-60 team to a championship. He is survived by daughters Margie (Terry)
Anderson, Barbara (John) Mackay, sons Jim (Edna) Gonzales, Gene Gonzales,
grandchildren Andy (Tiffany) Gonzales, Danielle (John) Cardona, Mike (Cheryl)
Gonzales, Richard (Trisha) Olsen, Ashley and Alex Gonzales, and 10
great-grandchildren Mitchell, Makayla, Monique, Sydney, Daniel, Jacob,
Calissa, Alyssa, Richie and Danika. Also surviving are his sisters Annie
Beltran, Tillie Cordova, and Mary (Silvio) Mayo. Preceded in death by his
parents, wife Mary, daughter Marie, grandson Joey, three brothers and two
sisters. A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady
of Lourdes Catholic Church, 670 South 1100 East. A vigil service will be held
Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Neil O'Donnell and Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South,
where friends may call from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Committal, Mt. Calvary Catholic
Cemetery, 4th Avenue and T Street.

Heitman, Eunice
Eunice Heitman 1908 ~ 2005 Eunice Heitman, age 96, passed away June 28, 2005
in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born August 28, 1908 in Emery, South Dakota
to Peter and Lydia (Brockel) Janssen. She married Wilbert Heitman on October
9, 1926 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Eunice was a member of the First
American Baptist Church. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She is survived by her children
Monita (Bob) Culver, Dee Olson, Arlene (Dick) Harvey, Bill (Bev) Heitman,
Allen Heitman, Judy (Lee) Boss, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and
great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbert,
two grandsons Reg and Ron Olson and son-in-law Harold Olson. Funeral services
will be held Saturday, July 2, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 1300
East 777 South. Visitation will be held Friday, July 1, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. at
Evans & Early Mortuary, 574 East 100 South and one hour prior to services at
the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to
First Baptist Church, 1300 East 777 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84102 in memory
of Eunice Heitman. Interment: Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Hyke, Vernice
Vernice Hyke "Aunt Vernice" Vernice Hyke, age 94, passed away June 30, 2005.
She was born February 27, 1911 in Oakley, Idaho to Henry and Lulu Eliza Bates
Voyce. On November 25, 1935, Vernice married Paul Hyke in the Salt Lake LDS
Temple. Paul preceded her in death on May 29, 1971. Vernice was a member of
the LDS Church. Vernice was Executive Secretary to the President of Prudential
Federal Savings and Loan and served as President of the Executive Secretaries
Association of Utah. She was a long time resident of Capri Park in Murray,
Utah. She delighted in being a grandmother to the grand nieces and nephews in
the family. Survivors: nieces and nephew, Shauna and William Randall, Cheri
and Dennis White, both Sandy, Utah; Kendall and Margo Voyce, Citrus Heights,
California; also 11 grand nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will
be Saturday, July 2, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. in the Midvale City Cemetery, 7500
South 450 West. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary 8090 So. State on Saturday
from 12 Noon to 1:30 p.m.

Hymas, Rulon
Rulon Hymas "Mr. Oil" Born September 23, 1907 in Paris, Idaho to Arthur James
Hymas and Cordelia (Della) Davis Hymas. He is proof that the good don't always
die young. He passed away peacefully while getting ready for breakfast, June
29, 2005, at the Golden Living Retirement Center. He had just returned to the
Assistance Living Center from Cottonwood Hospital the day before after another
bout with pneumonia. He will be truly missed by all the many people that knew
him. He married Delores M. Parker June 20, 1935. He and his love of a lifetime
enjoyed much during their younger years, (their 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's.),
traveling and camping in their fifth-wheel. They enjoyed being with family and
friends, going to the canyons and playing their banjo's while all were singing
around the campfire at night. He and Delores also enjoyed bowling in several
leagues. Rulon graduated from East High School, studied to be a certified
public account but did not want to leave his current employer, Premium Oil
Company, to work in a accounting office for two years in order to become a
CPA. He said that he didn't think taking the CPA test would have made any
difference in his profession, but he did regret never taking the final test.
His ability in accounting did pay off however because he was promoted to
supervisor over Premium Oil's 32 retail service stations, before moving on to
more responsibilities. In his younger days he worked on his fathers farm, had
a paper route, worked as a service station attendant, a service station
manager, worked on a natural gas pipeline between Wyoming and Salt Lake City,
worked in a logging camp in Vancouver, Washington, worked in a feed store with
his brother Merrill in Salt Lake City, and at the same time worked full time
at Shell Oil Company across the street from the feed store, worked for Utah
Oil Refining Company, then in 1935 began working for Premium Oil, and this was
the beginning of his life long career with that company. He worked for them
for 67 years. He was phenomenal at facts and figures. During his life he was
Vice President of Premium Oil Company, President of Premoco Oil Company,
President of PR Transport Company, and Secretary-Treasurer of Leeoco Oil
Company. In Oct., 2002, at the age of 95 he retired because of health reasons,
however, still maintained his position on the board of directors. He resigned
from the board of directors in 2004. He said that he couldn't ask for a better
company to work for, and that it had been an enjoyable 67 years. Survived by
daughter, Jean (Ed) Smith, Taylorsville, UT; son, Robert (Sue) Hymas,
Herriman, UT; Delores's son, Jack (Arlene) Hymas, St. George, UT; Delores's
daughter, Peggy Walker, Lakewood, CO; brother, James Davis (Marge) Hymas;
sister-in-law, Ione Hymas, Taylorsville, UT. brother-in-law, Roy Parker,
Bailey, CO; many grandchildren; many, many great-grandchildren, and several
great great-grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews whom he loved and was
dearly loved in return. Preceded in death by his parents; wife of 67 years,
Delores; brothers, Rayby James (Gladys) Hymas, Merrill Hymas, Harold (Alice)
Hymas and sister, Pearl (Max) Pace; great grandson, Trent Michael Smith;
grandson, Larry Hymas. We want to give special thanks to Harmony Home Health
Care, and Harmony Hospice for the excellent care they gave to our very loving
father. Also a special thank you to the Golden Living Center for their care of
our wonderful father. He had a smile for all and nobody ever heard him say one
unkind word about anyone. He was always willing to be of any service he could
to anyone and was the most agreeable man anyone ever meet. He was a true
believer in "live and let live". His warm kindness and terrific attitude will
never be forgotten by those who meet him. Funeral services will be held Wed.,
July 6, 2005, 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Ward House, 5233 South, 3200 West,
Taylorsville, UT. Family and friends may call Tuesday, July 5, 2005, 6-8 p.m.
at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 So. Redwood Road and Tuesday at the church one
hour prior to service. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates. Rulon told his
daughter he liked to help others as much as possible and they talked about
donations. So as a suggestion, in lieu of flowers, a donation in Rulon's name
sent to the Ronald McDonald House, 1135 E. So. Temple, SLC, Ut. 84102, or any
charity of choice, would be greatly appreciated.

Jensen, A. Blair
A. Blair Jensen "An Example To All" Arthur Blair Jensen, beloved husband,
father, grandfather and friend, passed away at his home, June 29, 2005 of
melanoma, surrounded by loved ones. He endured his illness with patience,
dignity and was an example for all. Blair was born March 8, 1940 in Raymond,
Alberta, Canada. His parents were Alfred and Bonita Critchfield Jensen. He had
six sisters and three brothers. Blair was proud of his Canadian roots and
Raymond and always treasured this great heritage of hard-working, giving
people who cared for others more than themselves. The Critchfield and Jensen
families were early colonizers on the beautiful flat prairies around Magrath
and Raymond. Blair worked in farming and ranching as a young man and never
lost his love for the land. He served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southwest Indian Mission from 1961-1964. He
was returning from the mission field to Raymond when he met his eternal
companion, Ada Siler, on a bus in southeast Idaho. Six months later, they were
married in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 29, 1964. They gave new meaning to
the advertising slogan "Take the bus and leave the driving to us." From this
eternal union, six wonderful children and their spouses, along with 11
grandchildren have enriched their lives: Tonya (Bart) Ferrin (Katee, Brandton
and Christopher); Stephanie (Jason) Brown (Sydnee); Shauna Jensen; Dan (Jody)
Jensen (Joshua, Zachary and Annalyn); Brooke (Tony) Cline (Taylor and Jacob);
and Ally Jensen (Dylan and Connor). Blair loved and cherished his family.
Blair graduated from LDS Business College and BYU. He worked for the LDS
Church in the information systems area for over 38 years and was blessed to
see the unfolding of technology needed to meet the needs of the Lord's work.
His sweetheart, Ada, passed away from ALS in 1999, a loss from which he never
fully recovered. He was blessed with another loving eternal companion when he
married Weltha Jane Forsyth on July 27, 2001 in the Jordan River Temple.
Blair's life was blessed beyond measure to be served by, and to associate
with, many wonderful people and friends, starting with missionary service and
through school, career, his neighborhood, ward and stake. He was pleased to
serve in many assignments at the ward and stake level, most recently as an
ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple. His favorite calling was with Ada
in the primary organization. Blair was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be Tues., July 5, 11:00 a.m. at the Taylorsville 13th
Ward, 1495 W. Tamarack Road (4565 South). Friends may call Sun., July 3, 6-8
p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Tuesday at the
church, 9-10:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to The Muscular Dystrophy Association, 4578 South
Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah 84117.

Jones, Terry Matthew
Terry Matthew Jones Will Be Missed Terry Jones, 16, passed away on June 27,
2005 in Englewood, CO. He is survived by his mother, Wendy Jones; father,
Robert Petersen; step father, Mark Heckenliable; sister, Markee and brother,
Dillon; grandmothers, Cherie, Mary, Betty, and Lydia; a very special aunt and
uncle Teresa and Rod Price; and special friends and family. A service will be
held on Sat., July 2, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Parker Funeral Home, Inc. In lieu

Kaas, Robert Jacob
"Rob" Robert Jacob Kaas Will Be Missed "Rob" Robert Jacob Kaas, loving son of
Jaclynn McLelland Vines and his stepfather Ron Vines, and Merl Kaas and his
stepmother Judy Kaas, passed away of natural causes at his Aliso Viejo,
California home which he loved so much on June 28, 2005. He was 28. Survived
and remembered by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Kimberlee and Francisco
Fonseca, and Tiffany and Michael Klarin; brother Douglas "Bud" Kaas; nieces
and nephews Javier, Isabel, Nicolas, Sebastian, and Sofia Fonseca, and Amanda,
Benjamin, and Heather Klarin; grandparents Jack and Renee McLelland;
multitudes of extended family and friends; and Rob's constant companion-his
dog Jake. His grandparents, John and Ruby Kaas, preceded Rob in death. Rob
brought joy, love, tolerance, and peace into all of our lives. He loved the
outdoors, snowboarding, fishing, and most of all golf, which he felt was his
true calling. As a touring golf pro, Rob was beginning to reach new heights
and achieve his goals. He was happy pursuing his dream, and couldn't wait to
get back on tour to earn his PGA Card. Rob loved his family more than anything
in the world, and adored playing with his nieces and nephews. He relished his
relationship with his sisters, and knew that he could talk to them about
anything. Rob enjoyed sharing the outdoors with his brother. He shared a
passion for fishing with his dad. Separated by miles, but not in heart; Rob
and his dad spoke often by phone and enjoyed the time they had together. Rob
and his mom shared a relationship like no other. Hardly a day passed by that
they didn't discuss his golf game from the 1st hole to the 18th. Rob was
determined to be the best golfer he could be and to bring home the Masters
Tournament "Green Jacket" as the ultimate Thank You gift for his mom. Thanks
Rob, for all of the wonderful times that we shared. We love you and miss you,
but we will never forget you! Visitation will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held July 2, 2005 Saturday, 12:00 p.m. at Pacific
View Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3500 Pacific View Dr., Corona del Mar, CA.

Metcalf, Richard Lynn
Richard Lynn Metcalf 1953 ~ 2005 Richard Lynn Metcalf returned to his Heavenly
Father on June 29, 2005, surrounded by his family at home in Sandy, after a
valiant battle with esophageal cancer. He showed great courage and strength
through surgery and reoccurrence. He was born February 6, 1953 in Salt Lake
City. He attended Highland High School and graduated in 1971. Rick was a
master framer and started his own business, RLM Construction, at the age of
20. He built his own home and many other beautiful homes throughout his 33
year career. In Nov., 1979, he married Carol Parker; the marriage was
solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Rick loved golf, boating, scuba diving,
camping, traveling, and anything he could do with family and friends. He is
survived by his wife; six children, Kyle, Shelby, Megan, Ashley, and Natalie
Metcalf, and Krissy (West) Withers; two grandchildren, Jayme and Sean; sister,
Pam (Roger) Baker; brothers, John (Kathy), Gary (Val), and LaMar (Carol);
stepmother, Ruth Metcalf and many, many friends and loved ones. He was
preceded in death by his parents, Herschel and Ruth S. Metcalf and brother,
Larry. Visitation will be on Friday, July 1, from 6 - 8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset
Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. 10600 S., Sandy and on Saturday, from 10:45 - 11:45
a.m. at the Lone Peak Stake Center, 11570 S. Wasatch Blvd., Sandy, where
services will follow at 12 p.m. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens.

Perkins, V. Jeane
V. Jeane Perkins 1923 ~ 2005 KAYSVILLE - Long time resident Jeane Perkins, 82,
passed away peacefully at home, Wednesday, June 29, 2005 surrounded by family.
Jeane was born in Butler, Missouri on May 13, 1923 to LeRoy and Susie Stover.
She married Irvin Perkins in Weiser, Idaho in 1941 and they were sealed in the
Salt Lake Temple on August 20, 1952. Irv and Jeane moved to Kaysville in 1946
and have lived here ever since. Jeane worked at the Davis County cold storage
for 25 years, as well as raising four lively boys. She loved camping and
fishing with her family. Grandkids and great- grandkids were a special joy for
Jeane and she will be missed by all. Jeane was a faithful member of The Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and of all her callings, she loved
visiting teaching the most. We know she is now with her Father in Heaven.
Jeane is survived by her husband, Irv; her four sons and their wives: John
(Andrea), Jack (Cookie), Ron (Donna), and Randy (Carol). She is also survived
by her 11 grandkids, 18 great-grandkids, and four great- great-grandkids. She
was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother, and great-great-grandson
Logan Conover. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2, 2005 at 2 p.m.
at the Kaysville 15th Ward chapel (555 N 100 E). Friends and family may call
Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and
Saturday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City
Cemetery.

Sorich, Amelia Anne
Amelia Anne Sorich "Our Angel Baby" Our beautiful talented Amelia, died
tragically on Monday, June 27, 2005. Born Oct. 7, 1986, to Michael and Kathryn
Sorich in Murray, Utah. She graduated with honors from Bingham High School in
January, and was currently attending Salt Lake Community College as well as
working two jobs. Amelia was a talented pianist, loving daughter, sister and
granddaughter, niece, and cousin. She was a true and loyal friend and
willingly offered her help to anyone who needed her. Amelia was kind,
thoughtful, caring, dependable, brilliant conscientious and ambitious. Her
sweet, gentle spirit and impish humor brought joy to all who knew her.
Survived by parents Michael and Kathryn Sorich, South Jordan; brothers David
(Lara) Sorich, Coventry, Connecticut; Jonathan and Jeffrey Sorich, South
Jordan; grandfathers Mike Sorich, West Jordan and Wesley Behling, South
Jordan; aunts Patricia (Phelps Helvenston), Flagstaff, Arizona; Grace Buist,
West Jordan; uncles, Paul (Linda) Sorich, Taylorsville; Robert (Barbara)
Behling, Springfield, Ohio; cousins, William Buist, West Jordan; Mark Sorich,
Taylorsville; Angela (Jonathon) Vredeveld, West Valley. Preceded in death by
grandmothers Lee Behling and Arta Sorich who welcomed Amelia home with open
arms and joyful hearts. A viewing will be held Friday, July 1, from 6:00- 8:00
p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600
South), South Jordan. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2 at 11:00
a.m. at the Country Park Stake Center, 2447 W. 11400 S. with a viewing one
hour prior to services at the church.
