Beckman, Bruce William Bruce William Beckman 1940 ~ 2005 Bruce, age 64, passed away peacefully on Independence Day, July 4, 2005 after a long battle with a rare degenerative neurological disease similar to that of Parkinson's. Born August 27, 1940 in South Gate, California to William and Lillyan Beckman. Bruce is survived by his wife, Pat; sons, Robert Bruce and Jeffrey William; daughters, Brenda Sue Judkins and Janine Michelle Beacham; 10 grandchildren; mother, Lillyan Vee Jenkins Beckman; brother, Gary Gordon Beckman. His father, William Gordon Beckman, precedes him in death. Bruce graduated from Whittier College, where he met Pat. Their romance began when they went on tour with the college's a capella choir and eventually led to their civil marriage August 18, 1962. They were later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple March 31, 1973. Music has always been the core of Bruce's life. He mastered the piano while in college, as evidenced by his ability to perform works by Chopin, Brahms, Debussy and others with technical precision and depth of emotion. All throughout his life he enjoyed playing his own arrangements of popular and sacred pieces that were always enjoyed by all. Bruce also had a beautiful, warm tenor voice. He and Pat sang with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir from 1989 to 1995. Prior to moving his family to Utah in 1981, he was a high school choir teacher. After coming to Utah, Bruce taught private piano and voice students in his home studio. Bruce has always been known for his "belly" laugh and dry sense of humor. If anything said was a bit funny, his laugh could be heard everywhere in the room. He had a great love for people, especially children, and wasn't afraid to demonstrate that love. Family history was an ongoing project he thoroughly enjoyed; learning about his ancestors and doing their temple work was important to him. Parrish, Gloria F. Gloria F. Parrish "A Bright Spirit" At 12 noon on the fourth of July, 2005 the light of my life departed this planet. Gloria F. Parrish was born Gloria Delores Folwarczny, the seventh sibling, on June 5, 1928 in New York City from solid Polish stock. In the early 1940's it was my good fortune that the family moved to the San Fernando Valley and a blind date engineered by her sister, Helen, completed the circle. Our marriage in 1947 started a 58 year romance that was indeed singular. Gloria kept the wolf from the door working as a dental assistant in San Francisco and New York when the new addition, our only son, Bryan came to brighten our lives as we completed our training in Boston. This tiny family then moved back to Salt Lake City where she flowered into full womanhood developing multiple interests with expertise in many areas. She leaves a daughter in-law, Kristine and two beautiful grandchildren, Erika and Kurt. Our loss will brighten the heavens. Memorial services will be conducted at Evans & Early Mortuary, 574 E 100 S., Friday, July 8, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to The Humane Society of Utah (4242 Commerce Dr, Salt Lake City, 84107) of the Heritage Foundation of Washington D.C. Romney, Julene Larsen Julene Larsen Romney Always a Teacher Julene Larsen Romney passed away at her home on Sunday, July 3, 2005, encircled by those she loved and finally at peace after a valiant battle with cancer. The daughter of the late John Anderson Larsen and Lois Manwill Larsen, she was born May 3, 1955, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The family lived briefly in Indiana while her father attended graduate school. The daughter of the principal, she graduated from Olympus High School and attended BYU briefly before earning her Bachelor's degree in Education at the University of Utah. She married Richard Miles Romney, son of Paul and Mary Lou Romney, on March 3, 1983, in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Centerville for four years before moving back to where they both grew up in the Skyline/Olympus area. They have three sons and two daughters: Taylor (recently returned from the India Bangalore Mission), Miles (serving in the Honduras Comayaguela Mission), Brittany, McKay, and Charlotte. By profession, Julene was a teacher. She enjoyed seven years as a member of the faculty at Midvale Middle School. As a mother and a friend, she was a teacher, too. She taught her own children by precept and example and was fond of all children. She loved books and cherished the scriptures, reading in them daily until illness made her too weak. Then she listened to recordings. She filled her home with memories, scrapbooks, stitchery, craftwork, and tatting. She served faithfully in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, most recently as ward and then stake Primary president. She much preferred a supporting role to a leadership role, but never refused a calling, even when she felt her own talents were meager. She was a gracious listener and a faithful friend, helping those around her to see and understand the lessons of life. Julene loved her husband and her family. She gathered with them often for prayers, for home evening, and to play games together. Her children were her greatest joy, and they will forever remember their talks with her. She trusted in the covenants of the temple and the promises of eternity. We love her and will miss her dearly. It was a perfect summer day and she had one last parade. She was born in Grantsville, Utah on December 31, 1920 to Thomas and Ruth Williams Rydalch. She remembered a wonderful and loving home and childhood. She graduated from Grantsville High in 1939 and had many lifetime friends. She was active in sports and student government. Last August, she and her remaining classmates celebrated their 65th high school reunion. Emma met Norman Warr at a dance at the Opera House when she was a junior in High School. They were married in 1940 and lived in Erda until their deaths. She was always very active and social and she loved many things; parties, parades, holidays, the ballpark, the color red, Pepsi and Cheetos. Most of all, she loved her family and home. Normie always said, "As soon as she got past Stockton, she was home sick". Emma was the "Erda Burger Lady" and creator of the secret sauce. Irene Warr, Norm and Emma and their family built Warr Memorial Park in 1974. It was a labor of love and today Ty Judd and other grandchildren and great-grandchildren are carrying on the tradition. She rarely missed any event her family was involved in; countless ballgames, plays, and graduations. Homemade ice cream was her specialty and the first bowl was highly prized. Even when her eyesight failed she continued to make dozens of quilts for her family, friends, and Erda Days. Grandma's quilts will always be cherished. Emma was a member of the LDS Church and held many positions but the ones she loved the most were in Primary and Mutual. She touched many young lives and they remember and love her for those memories today. Normie died in February 1999 and her son Tom, September 2004. Tom's death devastated her, but grandma Emma was still the center of our family. We are broken hearted she left us, but very blessed to have had her in our lives. Her love for us was unconditional and her kindness and generosity were beyond compare. Her parents and her brothers, Tom, Glen and Chug, also preceded Emma in death.
