He was born May 31, 1911 in Price, UT to Albert R. and Rachel Tidwell Belt. He married Mary Searle June 16, 1950. Howard's passions were fishing, hunting and the pleasures of camping. He worked as a coal miner and upholsterer for many years. He loved doing temple work and being a grandpa, even to grandchildren which were not even his own. He is survived by daughters, Arleen (Arvill) Pace and Sharon Belt; sons, Roland D. (Adell) Belt, Chad Belt, Ray Deloy (Terry) MacFarlane, and Verl (Janet) MacFarlane; brother, Ernest J. Wilson, Jr.; sister, Mary Lovell; 28 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchild-ren, and 23 great great-grandchild-ren. Preceded in death by wife, Mary; parents; and several siblings. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2005, 12 noon at the Western Hills 1st Ward, 5380 W. 5400 S in Kearns. Dover Becky Becky Dover passed away Sunday, July 24, 2005, the same way she lived her life, with quiet dignity. She was born in Salida, Colorado on September 17, 1921, to Pete A. and Helen Sexton Cufis. She graduated for Jordan High School in 1938. She married Alton B. Dover in 1945. She worked for the County Library System for 30 years. She loved to paint and left behind many lovely landscape paintings. She was a wonderful seamstress and also enjoyed gardening. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two nephews. She is survived by her sister, Harriet Dalton; brother-in-law, George Dalton; and her beloved little black poodle, Nikki. Jackson, Melvin Ernest Melvin Ernest Jackson 1921 ~ 2005 Melvin Ernest Jackson, age 83, passed away on July 22, 2005 in South Jordan, Utah. He was born November 14, 1921 in Lehi, Utah to Ernest and Marcella Johnson. Attended West High School. Member of the LDS Church. Melvin married Frances Lee Snowden, who preceded him in death. He later married Mary Isom. He was a World War II veteran. Enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Marjorie, Nancy and JoDeane; sons, Brent and James; sister, Elsie; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grand-children. Johnsen 1924 ~ 2005 BOUNTIFUL, UTAH - Cleo Bonnie Johnsen, our beloved mother and grandmother, left this mortal life on Sunday, July 24, 2005. Cleo passed away peacefully at her home in Bountiful, Utah surrounded by loving family. Cleo was the second of 12 children, born to Eldon and Velda Johnson in Victor, Idaho on November 15, 1924. She graduated from Victor High School and attended the nursing school at the LDS Hospital in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She married Dell Earl Johnsen in the Logan Temple June 26, 1944. Cleo was a faithful, life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and became a pioneer in her own right when she left her beloved Idaho and moved to Liberty, Missouri with her husband and children in 1957. There she served tirelessly in many Church callings, and gave devoted support to her husband in his service as Bishop and Stake President. After raising her eight children, she and Dell served LDS missions in both the Dallas and Stockholm, Sweden temples. Cleo will be remembered for her simple but powerful example of hard work, faith, and the power of prayer. This legacy of faithfulness has blessed and will continue to bless generations of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Dell, who passed away in January of this year. She is survived by eight children, Shiela (Bud) Campbell of Bountiful, Utah; Ronda (Len) Gabrielson of St. George, Utah; Margo (Allen) Pogue of Blue Springs, Missouri; Kurt (Karen) Johnsen of Kearney, Missouri; Karla (Paul) Jameson of Kearney, Missouri; Marla Kamareth of Las Vegas, Nevada; Andrea Johnsen of Chandler, Arizona; and Eric (Teresa) Johnsen of Layton, Utah. She is survived also by 35 grandchildren, 36 great-grand-children, six brothers and five sisters. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 28, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. in the Victor LDS Chapel at 87 E. McFadden, Frank E. Frank E. McFadden 09/21/36 ~ 06/23/05 Frank was born to John Joseph McFadden and Edna Alfred McLeod Sept. 21, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan. He died July 23, 2005 in Salt Lake City after a long battle with diabetes and multiple associated illnesses. He served in the Army more than 21 years. He was mar-ried to his wife, Clea, in the Idaho Falls Temple February 16, 1961. He leaves his wife of 43 years and five children, Kelly Mendoza (Walter) of Salt Lake City, Kathleen Hitchcock (David) of Salt Lake City, Kevin Mc-Fadden (Candi) of Rexburg, ID, Kris McFadden (Cherina) of Orem, and David McFadden (Rebekka) of Wen-dover, NV; along with 18 beautiful and greatly adored grandchildren. He always had a joke to tell, a story to tell, a poem to write and a "Crocodile Tears" song to sing to crying children. He loved to give to others, always taught correct principals, and encouraged his family to succeed. He loved scouting, fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. He honored his priesthood and encouraged his sons to do the same. He has always loved serving the people around him. He will be greatly missed but he went on a greater mission to live and prepare the way for his family to join him for eternity. Nokes, Vernon Doyle Vernon Doyle Nokes Our Patriarch Vernon Doyle Nokes, beloved husband, dad, grandpa and friend, born July 25, 1943 to Doyle Edward Nokes and Laurel Miller, was tragically released from his mortal existence July 23, 2005 due to injuries suffered in an auto accident. He spent all but three years of his life in Riverton and loved the community and people. He married Tava Lee Seal in the Salt Lake Temple on August 20, 1965 for time and all eternity. To this union were born five sons and one daughter: Jeffery (Gina), Jason (Laurie), Travis (Lisa), Michael, Chris and Amber (Seth) Kline who all survive him. To this family, who were the light of Vernon's life was sent 13 grandchildren. All survive their grandpa: Brittni, Brodi, Brakin, Carly, Mandy, Kelsey, Caleb, Joseph, Isaac, Sisley, Ashley, Joshua and Eli. Also survived by his sweet siblings, Loralee Nelson, Kim (Brent) Ritzman, Kelly (Connie). No man loved their family more than he did! His father preceded him in death 30 years ago-what a reunion! He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully wherever he was called by his Heavenly Father. He especially loved the Scouting program of the Church and served for over 25 years in this area. He helped many young men on their road to realizing their full potentials. He enjoyed his time in the mission field in the Southern States where he, again, was able to bring the truth into people's lives and watch their lives change. He had just finished completing his six generation work sheets in genealogy and was looking forward to doing those ordinances that needed to be done for his family. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, hiking, feeding the birds in his backyard; gardening, traveling, making late night trips to Peterson's for milk, and anything involving the family. He worked for Rick Warner Body Shop for 30 years and enjoyed his occupation and those he worked with daily. Peterson, Lura Faye Barkdull Lura Faye Barkdull Peterson 1919 ~ 2005 Lura Faye Barkdull Peterson died at her son's home in Farmington July 22, 2005, one day short of her 86th birthday. Scotty beamed her up. Lura was world famous, within certain areas of East Millcreek and Olympus Cove, for her divinity, fudge, and coleslaw. She lived her life on her own terms and with a great sense of dignity and grace. Lura was born July 23, 1919 in Burley, Idaho the youngest child of Louisa Cecilia Tippetts Barkdull and Leslie Nicolas Barkdull. They later moved to Salt Lake City where she graduated from South High School in 1936 and attended Brigham Young University. She married Homer K. Peterson June 12, 1941 and they had four children, Bill (Judy) Peterson, of Farmington, Peggy (Larry) Osoro of South Jordan, Jim (Kari) Peterson, of South Bend, IN, and Mark (Rita) Peterson, of Ogden. Together they had 14 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Lura was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Thad L. Barkdull;, and sister, Mary Barkdull Kirkham Call. One grandson, Ian Turner Peterson, also preceded her in death. The family would like to thank Cassie, Veronica, Cami and Deb for their loving care of our mother. Phillips, Paula K. Paula K. Phillips 5/18/1950 ~ 7/25/2005 Paula Kennington Phillips, age 55, passed away at her home in Salt Lake City on July 25, 2005 surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 18, 1950 in Tooele to Paul H. and Rosabeth Nickle Kennington. She married her long time sweetheart Jack T. Phillips on August 10, 1973 in Salt Lake City. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Paula graduated from Tooele High School and went on to receive her accounting degree at Southern Utah University in Cedar City. She was a very hard working and talented person on many levels. She served the teachers and students of Canyon Rim Elementary for 15 years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and weaving; talents she lovingly shared with many. She faithfully served in numerous callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, especially those that involved the children of the ward. Paula is survived by her husband: Jack; children: Paul (Holly) Philliips, Steve (Alicia) Phillips, Tiffany (David) Rognon, Brian Phillips; parents: Rosabeth (John) DeLapp; sister: Nadine (Hal) Cooper; numerous nieces, nephews, friends. Born to Anne Laura Edwards Tanner and Arthur Lee Tanner January 23, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Married to Betty Blackburn November 16, 1941. She preceded him in death. Served in the Marine Corp during World War II. He had three children, Harold Lee Tanner, Jr., Lafayette, LA; Paul Leslie Tanner who preceded him in death and Sherrie Ann Tanner, Salt Lake City, UT; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Yeates, Norma Jane Norma Jane Yeates 1930 ~ 2005 BRIGHAM CITY - Our loving wife, mother and grandmother, Norma Jane Stead Yeates, 74, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2005 at the Brigham City Community Hospital. She was born on November 8, 1930 in Milton, Massachusetts, a daughter of Frank and Emma Spinney Stead. Norma was reared and educated in Milton. She attended and graduated from Milton High School and Fishers College of Boston. She worked in Boston, New York City and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Norma married William R. Yeates on August 3, 1957 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. They would have celebrated their 48th Wedding Anniversary on August 3rd. When they were first married they lived in Bountiful and then moved to Kayenta Arizona Navajo Indian Reservation. Norma loved the Navajo people and their culture. They moved to Brigham City in 1967, where Bill taught and coached at the Intermountain Indian School. Norma also taught Title One at Bunderson Elementary. She belonged to the Spade and Hope Garden Club, where she served in various positions. It is here where she made many long time friends. Her favorite hobby was being with her husband, children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting, sewing, and painting. Surviving is her husband, Bill of Brigham City; three children, Suzanne (Jeff) Anderson, Portland, Oregon; Andy (Dana) Yeates of Honeyville; Matt (Kelly) Yeates of Park City; eight grandchildren; one sister, Virginia (James) Rowland of Avon, Connecticut. The family would like to express their gratitude to Ali's Angels who have cared for Norma in the home during the last four months.
