He was born in Oregon, Illinois on October 4, 1920 to Orley G. and Ivah Tilton Anderson. He spent his youth in Chana, Illinois, a small farming town, experiencing the hardships of the depression. He married Helen Irene Franklin on June 12, 1943 in Rochelle, Illinois. Shortly after marrying, they moved to Rockford, Illinois where they spent all of their lives until moving to Utah in 1991. Orley was a supervisor in different industries including, Chrysler and Ipsen Industries. To their union were born three children: Janet (Robert) Bartell, Gary (Nancy) Anderson, and Steve (Diane) Anderson. They were sealed as an eternal family in the Salt Lake Temple after the missionaries knocked on their door in 1959 and they accepted the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. He served in the bishopric and loved to teach in the Sunday School, sharing the Gospel with investigators. He built several houses with Helen and blessed the lives of his children by working on their homes. With their RV they crisscrossed the country visiting historical and Church sites. Orley is survived by his wife Helen, his three children and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Services honoring Orley will be held on Saturday, July 30 at the Woods Cross Stake Center, 2064 S. 800 W, Woods Cross. Ashby, Maiben Bennett Maiben Bennett Ashby 1913 ~ 2005 ST. GEORGE, UT - Maiben Bennett Ashby, 92, passed away in St. George, Utah on July 21, 2005. He was born June 16, 1913 in Leamington, Ut to Jane Marinda Stephenson and Rodney Badger Ashby. He married Elsa Clara Wohlgemuth Aug. 24, 1936 in the LDS Manti Temple. Maiben lived in Leamington, Utah until he served a LDS Mission in Minnesota and North Dakota. After his mission he attended and graduated from Branch Agricultural Junior College in Cedar City, Utah. He moved to St. George, Utah in 1937 and operated a service station for six years, then worked in the Bank of St. George for another six years. In 1948 he became a newspaper distributor and was responsible for newspapers from Salt Lake City, Utah to Las Vegas, Nevada and Los Angeles, California. He supervised carriers in all of Washington County and parts of Southern Nevada. Maiben served as Scoutmaster, Explorer Advisor, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon's Advisor, Bishop's Counselor, Bishop, Stake High Counselor, and was awarded the Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award. He also served as District Commissioner of Scouting, Justice of the Peace St. George Precinct for 16 years, St. George City Justice for six years and was a member of the St. George Chamber of Commerce. Maiben inherited his green thumb from his mother. He raised an enormous garden for over 70 years and was still working in his garden three weeks ago. He tried different and even exotic varieties of fruits and vegetables along with the usual corn, tomatoes, grapes and pecans. He is survived by one son, Arnold Carl Ashby of West Valley City four daughters, Viola Rae Rosengreen of Renton, WA, Selma Ann Johnson Brown of El Dorado Hills, CA, Karen Lillian Ginocchio of St. George, Utah and Elsa Jane Picklesimer of St. George; 38 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nina Rasmussen. _He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Elsa. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 29, 2005, 11 a.m., Bloomington Hills LDS Ft. Pierce Chapel, 750 E. Ft. Pierce Dr., St. George, Utah. Bennett, Diane Thain Diane Thain Bennett Loving Wife & Mother Mary Diane Thain Bennett, passed away peacefully at home July 26, 2005 from a heart related illness. She was born June 12, 1930 in Salt Lake City, UT to Ted and Emma Thain. She attended East High School and University of Utah where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Married Gary C. Brimhall on September 16, 1949; later divorced. On October 19, 1984 she married her eternal companion, Eugene Bennett, in the Jordan River Temple. Mom was an active member of the LDS Church and held numerous callings including Relief Society President. A former member of the Arizona Mormon Choir, she loved music and passed her talents to her children and grandchildren. She had a generous heart and volunteered many years of service at the Desert Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. She dedicated her life to raising a righteous family to the Lord. She is dearly loved by her 12 children: Alan (Yunaira) Brimhall, Greg (Gail) Brimhall, Leslie Pexton, Brian (Chris) Brimhall, Shannon (Brian) Reynolds, Andrea Hale, Randy (Louise) Bennett, Kim (Neva) Bennett, Renn (Debbie) Bennett, Candace (Mike) Whisler, Mary Diane Brown, and Patrick (Tannie) Bennett; her one sister and two brothers, Peggy Thain Whitney, Ted (Sharon) Thain and Dr. Michael (Sandy) Thain; Her 43 grandchildren, 26 great-grand-children (with six more on the way) will also miss her greatly. Mom's greatest joy in life was her family. The legacy of her love will always be remembered by those who knew her and by future generations. Bettridge, Roma Whitney Roma Whitney Bettridge 1914 ~ 2005 As family members, we pay tribute to our dear mother Roma Whitney Bettridge. She was born on November 20, 1914 in Parowan, Utah to Samuel J. Whitney and Winnifred B. Whitney, and died on July 25, 2005 in Las Vegas, Nevada at 90 years of age. She is survived by her five children, Val E. (Norma G.) Bettridge, Hurricane, UT; Alma RaNae B. (Bevan) Ott, Highland, UT; June Ann B. (Randy) Adams, Las Vegas, NV; Keith W. (Dani Jo B.) Bettridge, Haines, AK; James Criag (Susan L.) Bettridge, Hurricane, UT; and 22 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She married Alma Bettridge on February 23, 1933 in Cedar City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple. Alma died on April 8, 1984 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She is also survived by her sisters Ethel W. (Morgan - deceased) Slack, Constance W. (Lyle) Halterman, Patricia Joy W. (Eugene) Orton, and her sister-in-law Marion T. Whitney, and her brothers Samuel James (Glyde G.) Whitney, and Garth B. (Barbara B.) Whitney. Preceded in death by her brothers Gaylord B. (Elizabeth C.) Whitney, and Richard B. (Marion T.) Whitney, and sisters Edythe W. (Phillip) Klingonsmith. Roma was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and help many positions of leadership in that organization. She served as the President of the Stake Relief Society in the Hurricane, Utah Stake, and worked as a strong supporter of her husband as he served as the bishop of the St. George Second Ward of the St. George, Utah Stake. She especially enjoyed working with the Young Women of the church and served in a number of leadership positions in the YWMIA program on both the ward and stake level. Roma loved her family deeply and dedicated her life to serving them. She also especially loved and appreciated her brothers and sisters and their families, and she had many special friends that she helped and supported in many ways. Graveside services honoring her exceptional life will be held in the Parowan, Utah Cemetery at 12 noon on Friday, July 29, 2005. Interment will be in the Parowan Cemetery. Brown, Phyllis Mary Blackham Phyllis Brown 1932 ~ 2005 Phyllis Mary Blackham Brown, departed this life quietly, in the afternoon of the 25th of July 2005. She joins her beloved, departed husband Ted in a joyous reunion with her other family members beyond the veil. She was born March 5, 1932 in Fountain Green, Utah to: Ace Walter and Norma Elsie Mikkelsen Blackham. She is survived by her younger sister, Faye Ockey (Earl) of Salt Lake City, and her baby brother, Bevin Ace Blackham (Carol), of Moroni, Utah. She spent her childhood in Moroni and graduated from Moroni High School in 1950. She later graduated from Snow College in Ephraim, Utah. She attended Utah State University in Logan where she received her teaching certificate. She later received her bachelors degree from Brigham Young University. She taught elementary school in Preston, Idaho; Nephi, Utah; and Santaquin, Utah. Later she taught special education at Payson Junior High. She loved learning, and was always teaching and sharing her discoveries with others. She had a special love for those who were less loveable. She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she enjoyed teaching Relief Society and being a visiting teacher. She loved her family, her neighbors and her ward members. She was a voracious reader, and could never read enough on any subject. She had a special love for her kitties, Cleo and Minx. She met her husband at the Silver Maple gas station in Nephi, Utah and were later married on June 10, 1959 in Ely, Nevada. They were blessed with two daughters, Elizabeth and Margaret. They were sealed as an eternal family in the Manti Temple. They were loving and faithful parents. Mom instilled in us a love for learning and a fascination with everything. We went on many trips exploring the deserts and canyons surrounding Nephi. She is survived by both daughters Elizabeth Brown of Salt Lake City, (partner, Kara Cope); Margaret Steward, currently serving an LDS mission in Houston TX; (husband, Travis); grandchildren: Daina, Ben, Hannah, MaryKate, Sam, Jacob and Lecia. Ewell, Darrell Byran Darrell Byran Ewell 1939 ~ 2005 WOODLAND, UT - Surrounded by his family, our loving husband, father, brother and friend Darrell Byran Ewell passed away on July 24, 2005. Born on November 16, 1939 to Dell Byran Ewell and Helen Francke Ewell in Salt Lake City, Utah. On June 5, 1958 he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life Mavis Irene Nielson. Their marriage sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on July 18, 2002 for time and eternity. Darrell graduated from Granite High School in 1958 where he excelled and held many records in track. He was a proud, honest and hard working man who loved working along side his father in the family owned construction company Ewell and Son, Inc. Darrell also had a love for farming, fishing and pheasant hunting with his good friend Gary, but most of all spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Mavis, children: Dale (Pam), Chris Gibson, Ted (Gina), Callie Larsen, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, sister Annette Adams and extended family. Preceded in death by his parents, infant brother and sister and infant daughter Dawn. She was born on January 20, 1943 in Neiafu, Vava'u, Tonga to Tevita and Liekina Lausi'i Fanua. She married Sitiveni 'Alama Tausinga on September 6, 1962. On the third day of December, 1968, she was sealed to her husband and family in the Auckland, New Zealand Temple. She is survived by her husband Sitiveni of 42 years and three children, Isileli Tupou Tausinga (Mona) of West Jordan, Sisilia Sitoafa Tuai (Mana) of Salt Lake City, and Samuela 'Ahokava Tausinga (Geni) of Lehi; grandchildren: Steven, Tomasi, McKelly, Ryland, Tapanima, Brandon, Calvin, Liekina, Tristan, Siale and Peti; and sisters (and children): 'Olini Fa'oa (Sini - Heisitini, Taani - 'Anolo, Tevita Lausi'i - Finau si'i, 'Olini si'i, and Sisifa), Finau Tongalahi (Rick), Nineti Lausi'i ('Ofa) and 'Eniketi Lausi'i (Mateaki leka, Ricky Heimuli, Kolokesa and Lesieli). She was preceded in death by her beloved father and mother, Tevita and Liekina Lausi'i Fanua and two sisters 'Ana 'Ungatea and Mitiola. Siale was a very hardworking and talented person. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, sewing, doing genealogy work, reading, teaching her children and singing in her ward choir. Her family loved her cooking and baking, and frequently visited her kitchen for delicious meals (especially her two sons). She was occupied as a seamstress for many years, and loved making beautiful Tongan quilts for family and friends. She was well known for dancing the Tongan Tau'olunga, and loved pleasing her audience. Her greatest mission in life was to serve all around her. She was a faithful and diligent servant to her Heavenly Father as she fulfilled various callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Most importantly, she was a light and beacon to her family and loved them unconditionally. She served with great love, compassion and understanding and freely gave of herself to help and comfort those in need. She lived an honorable and exemplary life, and we will greatly miss her, her spectacular cooking, her daily phone calls, the warmth of her smile and her wonderful spirit. Folker Jr., Ralph Jay Ralph Jay Folker Jr. 1943 ~ 2005 Ralph Jay Folker Jr., Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War, fought a courageous battle with cancer before returning home to his Heavenly Father on July 26, 2005. He was born September 11, 1943 in Murray, UT. Jay was the proud father of William Jay Folker and David Folker and grandfather of Shaun, Bryce, and Marie. He was the devoted son of Edith Folker and the late Ralph Jay Folker Sr., and dear brother of Linda Pectol, Eugene Folker, Susan Sasser, Mary Pilant, Jane Luger, Carolee Badgett, Claire Strong and Jerri Marie Folker (deceased). His family and friends loved him deeply and will miss him greatly. There will be a viewing on Friday, July 29th from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Road. Gilbert, Stanley A. Stanley A. Gilbert 1918 ~ 2005 Stanley A. Gilbert died July 25, 2005, at home in Bountiful, Utah. He was born August 3, 1918 in Washington, D.C. to Stanley R. and Amparo A. Gilbert. He married Louine Borg on February 22, 1941 and they solemnized their marriage in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 26, 1949. Louine preceded him in death. Stan was strongly devoted to his family, church and civic responsibilities. He and Louine were parents of five chilldren; Karen (Tom) Marshall of No. Salt Lake, Ramona (Mike) Rudert of Salt Lake, Rick (Jolene) Gilbert of Thatcher, AZ, Mimi (Roger) Beattie of Bountiful, and Kris Gilbert of Salt Lake all of whom survive him. He was blessed to have 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His only brother and lifelong friend, Perry R. Gilbert, lives in Clarksville, Virginia. He served in a variety of positions in the LDS Church throughout his life, and had a great love for teaching. He enjoyed being a host on Temple Square in Salt Lake City for nearly a decade and an usher for the Tabernacle Choir Sunday morning broadcast. Stan attended elementary, junior high and high school in Bowie, Maryland. He graduated Benjamin Franklin University in Washington, D.C. with a degree in accounting. He served 4 years during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps 305th bomb squadron as a B17 bomber ground crew chief and received the Bronze Star. During his career he worked both in Washington, D.C. where he met his wife, and later in Salt Lake City. He also held positions in several professional and civic organizations. Frances was born to Andrus "J" and Evelyn Davis Nelson in Wales, Utah on October 24, 1921. She Married Mervin D. Goodsell on October 6, 1941 in the Manti LDS Temple. Frances was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in St. George, Utah. She had a strong testimony of the Savior. Her second home was in the Fairview mountains she loved so much. She had a passion for interior decorating and making her home and yard a place of beauty and comfort, she was also an artist and enjoyed reading. She also had a great love for her family and spent hours talking to and especially helping her grand kids. She is preceded in death by her father and mother and brother Dee. Merrill 1939 ~ 2005 Barbara Hodson Merrill, age 66, died from cancer July 24, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born March 23, 1939, in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Martell and Rose Bromley Hodson. Barbara graduated from East High School. She earned a Bachelors Degree in Education and then Masters Degrees in Psychiatric Social Work and Educational Psychology from the University of Utah. She later earned a Bachelors Degree in Organ Performance at Utah State University. She blessed the lives of others through her musical and artistic talents. She brought joy to many through her paintings, piano and organ performances. Barbara touched others through her professional work and church service. Her career included social work in Arizona and Utah, school counseling in Utah, and various other occupations that interested her throughout her life. Her church service included music, teaching and leadership callings, temple work, and missionary service. She and her husband Non served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Singapore, Malaysia, and India. Barbara married Non M. Merrill in the Salt Lake Temple, May 15, 1982. While in Nashville, I was blessed to meet many friends and have a vibrant life performing music for hundreds of people. I will always be grateful for the memories and moments. I retired from Nashville and relocated to Salt Lake City in 2000. I was employed as a logistics trainer for Quest Diagnostics. I was blessed once again as my co-workers became more than that and became my friends. With the love and support from many, I have been battling a rare ovarian cancer for 21 months. June was raised in Farmington, UT where she had many happy childhood memories and spent time working in her parent's fruit orchard. June worked at JC Penny's in the material and notions department for 19 years. June was an excellent seamstress and has crocheted many afghans for family members. Lloyd, Sandra Newman Sandra Newman Lloyd 1935 ~ 2005 RIVERTON, UTAH: Sandra Newman Lloyd, 70, passed away in her home with her family at her side of myelodysplastic syndrome. Sandra was born in Riverton, Utah on February 22, 1935 to Moss Simmons Newman and Mabel Jean Langford Newman. She was a lifelong resident of Riverton. Sandra married Robert Earl Lloyd on September 14, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this fall. She was a graduate of Jordan High School and the Ruth Tollman Modeling School. Sandra was elected as Riverton City's Mayor two consecutive terms, serving from 1994 until 2001. Prior to that she served as Riverton City Recorder for 14 years. Due to her efforts and vision, the Riverton Civic Center and Riverton Museum at the Crane House were saved and fully restored. During her tenure as Mayor she served on several governing boards including: Salt Lake County Conference of Mayors ( 2 years as President), Executive Board of Economic Development Corporation of Utah, Utah League of Cities and Towns ( 2 year Board Member) and the Board of the Trans Jordan Landfill. Sandra also served as President of the Salt Lake County ZAP Tax Tier II Board and was a Board Member of Operation Conquest. Some of the jobs she enjoyed in her life included secretary at West Jordan Junior High School at which time she served as President of the Jordan School District Classified Employees. Another job she thoroughly loved and excelled in was wedding consulting at the LaCitadel Reception Center. One of the great loves of her life was the forty years she spent as a volunteer in the Miss America Organization. She served in every possible capacity at both the local and state level. She served as the Executive Director of the Miss Riverton Scholarship Pageant for thirty years. Sandra was always in high demand as a judge throughout the state of Utah. She served as the ultimate example of poise, grace and class to thousands of young women. Young women were her business and she loved working with them and teaching them not only pageant skills but life skills. Sandra traveled to Atlantic City several times over the years to attend the Miss America Pageant. One of those years she went as Miss Utah's traveling companion. Two favorite hobbies Sandra enjoyed were shopping and decorating her house for every holiday. At Christmastime her house was a magical wonderland that family and friends enjoyed throughout the Holiday Season. She had the opportunity of serving as a volunteer during the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics. Sandra was currently serving as the Arts Administrator for Riverton City. Sandra lived her life serving people. She served in a variety of capacities including: PTA President of Riverton Elementary, President Ladies Civic League, and Founding Member of the Riverton Arts Council. She received numerous awards throughout her lifetime, notably: Riverton City's Woman of the Year in 1985, Lifetime Achievement Award from the Miss Riverton and Miss Utah Pageants, inducted into the Riverton City Hall of Honor in 2002 and recently received the Woman of Achievement Award presented by the Miss Riverton Pageant 2005. Sandra was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had an unwavering testimony of the gospel. She was a master teacher and served in the Relief Society teaching the Social Relations lesson for 25 years. When she was younger she worked with the young women in the Mutual program. In recent years she enjoyed teaching Primary children as well. For many years she served as the Stake Drama Director producing full scale musical productions that were enjoyed by the entire community.. Her legacy of hard work, commitment and service will be felt for generations to come. Mark received his B.S. in Psychology which was his major and minored in Health Education in 1981 from BYU; M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1985 from BYU. He was the owner of New Haven, Inc., a residential treatment center and private school for young women. Prior to that he was a Marriage and Family Therapist at FHP, Mountain View Hospital, Riverwood Hospital and Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. Mark loved swimming. He was on the BYU swim team, and was the Western Athletic Conference champion in the 200 and 500 yard freestyle. He also swam for the Santa Clara swim club in Santa Clara, California. He loved to fix things and see how things worked, he had a great love for life and learning, and loved to do anything with his wife and children. The most important thing to him was to be a great husband and father. Mark was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including; Bishop, Elders Quorum President and High Counselor. She graduated from South High School and earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1956 from Brigham Young University. She married Murray S. McInnes on May 24, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. She taught in the public schools for 40 years and received many awards and recognitions for her work. Teaching was her life and she touched the lives of countless children. Mary gave many years of service to the community and especially enjoyed her association with the Utah Symphony Guild. As a lifelong member of the LDS Church, she provided loving service in her many callings. She was a woman of great faith and had an unwavering testimony. Among Mary's many joys was her love of the outdoors, service to others and her family. She was totally committed to her husband, children and grandchildren. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in the bishopric at the Golden Living Center. "Grandma Ethel," as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, was loved and respected by all who knew her. Ethel was born January 21, 1911 in Clover, Tooele County, Utah, the only daughter of Thomas George Steele and Hannah Rosamond Bush. As a teen, Ethel worked hard to help support her family and hard work became her legacy. She graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City. She married John Peter Neeleman, on September 5, 1930, in Salt Lake City. They were married for 60 years before "Johnny" passed away in 1990. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together Ethel and John owned and operated many landmark restaurants and stores in Salt Lake City, including the Clock Caf‚, the J&J Caf‚, the Cardinal Billiards and Lounge, the Skylark Lounge and Caf‚, the Pine Cone Restaurants and Miniature Markets. Well into her golden years, Ethel could be found at the Pine Cone Restaurant in Sugarhouse making her famous cheesecake and other culinary delights. Ethel quietly and lovingly ministered to those in need. Her life was an inspiring example of selfless service. She is survived by her 4 children: Gary John Neeleman (Rose), Stanley Duane Neeleman (Sherri), Diana Miller, Thomas Robert Dale Neeleman (Kristi), 19 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. GEORGE, UT - Hannah Hegsted Wells Rose was released from her mortal body on July 26, 2005 at her home in St. George, Utah after a long life of love and service to family and community. She was born March 26, 1909 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the only daughter and third child of Victor and Hannah Grover Hegsted. Schooled in Victor, Idaho, as well as Salt Lake City, Hannah graduated from the University of Utah in Home Economics in 1931 and then took a teaching position at Hurricane High School. There she met and fell in love with George Wells. They were married in Salt Lake City in December of 1933 and sealed in the St. George Temple in May of the following year. In addition to raising four sons and serving faithfully in the Church, Hannah worked for a number of years as a County Home Management Supervisor for the Farm Security Administration while George farmed. She joined the faculty at Dixie High School and Dixie College when her boys were old enough to be at school, teaching Biology, Foods and Nutrition and Home Economics for 20 years. She was a beloved teacher who influenced the lives of many young students by her skills, as well as her warmth and caring. Like her Mormon pioneer women ancestors, she balanced her family and community/school responsibilities with service in many callings in the Church, including ward Relief Society president and temple worker. When George died in 1966, Hannah carried on the family responsibilities alone for 18 years. She met Horace Rose in 1984 and married him in December of that year, adding another wonderful family to her circle of loved ones. She and Horace lived in Bountiful and in St. George until his passing in 1991. She loved the time in Bountiful making new friends, renewing old acquaintances in her Delta Zeta Sorority, and attending U of U athletic events. Hannah was preceded in death by her brothers Marion, Rulon, and Karl, her husbands George Wells and Horace Rose, and her youngest son, Scott. Through her sons and beloved daughters-in-law, Mark and Marian, Gawain and Gayle, Gary and Marsha, Scott and Jillyn, she leaves a posterity now numbering over 100 who love her and call her blessed. With her marriage to Horace Rose came an extended family which included Robert and Mary Ann Page Gilliland and her children. She married Donald H. Smith on April 29, 1954 in Las Vegas Nevada. Elaine enjoyed her family and friends that have remained close to her though her life. Always ready to share stories of her youth and praise for her loved ones. She loved working on ceramics, camping and her summer home in Panguitch. Her wonderful sense of humor, that stayed with her to the end, will be missed. She is survived by Children Sharon (Doug) Wilson, Brian (Judy) Smith and Laurie (Robert) Allen. Her Brothers Jack and James Slusher, sister Betty Bagley, Ten grandchildren, Amanda, Jennifer, Andrenne, Chelsie, Shawn, Brooke, Brianne, Trent, Taylor and Nicole. One great grandchild, Madison. Elaine is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband Don, siblings Kate and Lloyd Slusher. Stephenson, Neldin Neldin Stephenson "Steve" MURRAY- Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grand-father, Neldin Levern Stephenson, 82, passed away July 26, 2005. Neldin was born in Levan, UT., on May 9, 1923 to Weltha Eva Taylor and Levern Martin Stephenson. He married Della Lue Hardy on Oct. 7, 1944 in Salt Lake City. They were sealed in the Jordan River Temple Dec. 27, 1986. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked for Garrett Freightlines 27 years and then was a business agent for the Teamsters Union. He found his biggest joy in his loving wife and family, especially his grand and great-grandchildren. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Della; children, Linda (Hal) Moon, Patty (Bob) Davis, Brent (Gayle), and Karalee (Kent) Roylance; 18 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two brothers, Eldred (Mary), Kenard (Beverly). Tea, Frances Margaret Frances Margaret Tea 1925 ~ 2005 Frances Margaret Tea, a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on July 24, 2005. Frances was born March 7, 1925 in Riverton, Utah to Charles Edward and Margaret Antonia Weenig Tea. She was the 11th child in a family of 13. She is preceded in death by her father and mother and 10 of her brothers and sisters. Frances graduated from Jordan High School in 1943 and went to work in Salt Lake City at Broadbanks, sewing blouses. She then worked as a switchboard operator at the U of U for several years and then worked as a switchboard operator for Pacific NW Pipeline/El Paso/NW Pipeline Gas Companies for 35 years until she retired. Frances was active in the LDS Church, serving as a Relief Society Secretary, and the ward librarian for many years. She spent many years doing temple work and was generous in helping to financially support family members and friends on LDS missions. Frances is survived by a sister, Lola Tea Reynolds, Blackfoot, ID; a brother, Roy D. Tea of Cottonwood Heights, UT, his wife, Barbara Manwaring Tea; fourteen loving nieces; nine nephews, many great nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Thomas, Dylan Jack Dylan Jack Thomas 5/9/2005~7/24/2005 Proud parents Erik Thomas and Chelsey Marshall mourn the sudden loss of their sweet Dylan. They watched in amazement the magic he performed on us all. Once strained relationships melted into laughter and love at his mere smile. We became strong and our motives became clear as we held him in our arms. With his hand wrapped around our finger he pressed compassion for all others into our thoughts. His short presence with us has forever knitted our hearts together and made us realize that love is indeed the answer. Tingey, Steven Steven Tingey 1941 ~ 2005 Steven L. Tingey, 64, passed away July 26, 2005. He was born January 31, 1941 in Centerville, Utah the son of Allen D. and Maxine Cahoon Tingey. He married Barbara Rueckert, later divorced, married Leona Wierz, divorced, married Verletta Potts. He was a life long Centerville resident and was self-employed as a small engine mechanic, clockmaker and woodworker. Steve had a love of the outdoors. He is survived by five sons and four daughters; Jeff (Corrie) Tingey, Bill Tingey, Shane (Kristin) Tingey, Bryan (Ginger) Ashdown, Gary (Debbie) Ashdown, Marcie (Mike) Reilly, Sandy Dradge, Dannielle Burr, Shelly Bernhardt. Jason was an outdoorsman and loved to camp and fish. Jason was a car enthusiast and loved working on his cars. Pieter was born February 13, 1928 in Rotterdam, Holland to Jon and Maria VanderVaart. He graduated from West High School. He married Betty Elizabeth on December 15, 1962 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Pieter served in the Navy and Air Force. He retired from Salt Lake City Fleet Department, where he was an excellent auto mechanic. He loved camping, fishing, loving every minute on the streams. Spending time with family and friends was important to him. "Sam" Velis, 75, died July 26, 2005, peacefully from natural causes with loved ones by his side. Sam was born on February 10, 1930 in McGill, Nevada to Nicholas and Anna Speropoulou Velissaropoulos. As an infant Sam returned with his family to their native Akrata, Greece, which he always considered home, returning to the US after World War II, and proudly serving our country in the Korean War. Married Jeanne J. Garcia in 1960, and lived in Ogden until 1979. After touring Greece and Australia, Sam and Jean have lived in Salt Lake City ever since. Sam dedicated his life to the nightclub and restaurant industry - namely the El Chico and Volume One. He knew how to throw a party and was known to gamble until he won. He had a love for all people and always enjoyed a good joke. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, daughter Anna Marie (Jon) Pezely, loving grandsons Jon Louis and William, and spitfire granddaughter, Jeannie Frances Pezely, all Salt Lake City, sister Soteria Soteropoulos, Akrata, Greece, and numerous nieces and nephews.
