He was born August 12, 1921 to David Jefferson and Lula Trujillo Adams. He married Louise Giles on Jan. 3, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Stanley loved to paint it was his greatest joy. He loved life, he loved his children and especially loved to spoil his grandkids. He loved the outdoors and fishing. He loved to tell people about the Bible and his religious beliefs and a hope of life without pain and sickness. He is survived by his wife Louise, daughters: Barbara Adams, Beverly (Phillip) Sandoval, Stephanie White, Margaret (Doug) Green. Sister Dorothy Louise Adams, Brothers: James (Margaret) Adams, Alonzo (Theresa) Adams, 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a son David LeRoy Adams, brothers: Junior LeRoy Adams and George Eugene Adams, sister Sarah Mae Crossley and son-in-law David White. Anderson, Orley Orley Anderson 1920 ~ 2005 Orley Burton Anderson, 84, departed this life on July 25, 2005 after a long struggle with his health. He was born in Oregon, Illinois on October 4, 1920 to Orley G. and Ivah Tilton Anderson. He spent his youth in Chana, Illinois, a small farming town, experiencing the hardships of the depression. He married Helen Irene Franklin on June 12, 1943 in Rochelle, Illinois. Shortly after marrying, they moved to Rockford, Illinois where they spent all of their lives until moving to Utah in 1991. Orley was a supervisor in different industries including, Chrysler and Ipsen Industries. To their union were born three children: Janet (Robert) Bartell, Gary (Nancy) Anderson, and Steve (Diane) Anderson. They were sealed as an eternal family in the Salt Lake Temple after the missionaries knocked on their door in 1959 and they accepted the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. He served in the bishopric and loved to teach in the Sunday School, sharing the Gospel with investigators. He built several houses with Helen and blessed the lives of his children by working on their homes. With their RV they crisscrossed the country visiting historical and Church sites. Orley is survived by his wife Helen, his three children and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Services honoring Orley will be held on Saturday, July 30 at the Woods Cross Stake Center, 2064 S. 800 W, Woods Cross. Anderson Brown, Loretta Loretta Anderson Brown 1937 ~ 2005 Loretta Anderson Brown, age 68, peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on July 27, 2005 after courageously battling many illnesses. She was born on June 26, 1937 in Spring City, Utah to Kent and Faure Anderson. She married Robert F. Brown on June 14, 1956 in the Salt Lake City Temple. She is survived by her loving husband Robert, daughters Shelly (Bryant) Haggen of Colorado Springs, CO, Kristen (Shawn) Stapel of Cedar City, UT; eight grandchildren, one great grandson, brothers and sisters, Orson (Yvonne) Anderson, Zelma (Byron) Christensen, Donna (John) Gillmer, Terry (Terry) Anderson, and Lee (Leona) Anderson. Bennett, Diane Thain Diane Thain Bennett Loving Wife & Mother Mary Diane Thain Bennett, passed away peacefully at home July 26, 2005 from a heart related illness. She was born June 12, 1930 in Salt Lake City, UT to Ted and Emma Thain. She attended East High School and University of Utah where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Married Gary C. Brimhall on September 16, 1949; later divorced. On October 19, 1984 she married her eternal companion, Eugene Bennett, in the Jordan River Temple. Mom was an active member of the LDS Church and held numerous callings including Relief Society President. A former member of the Arizona Mormon Choir, she loved music and passed her talents to her children and grandchildren. She had a generous heart and volunteered many years of service at the Desert Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. She dedicated her life to raising a righteous family to the Lord. She is dearly loved by her 12 children: Alan (Yunaira) Brimhall, Greg (Gail) Brimhall, Leslie Pexton, Brian (Chris) Brimhall, Shannon (Brian) Reynolds, Andrea Hale, Randy (Louise) Bennett, Kim (Neva) Bennett, Renn (Debbie) Bennett, Candace (Mike) Whisler, Mary Diane Brown, and Patrick (Tannie) Bennett; her one sister and two brothers, Peggy Thain Whitney, Ted (Sharon) Thain and Dr. Michael (Sandy) Thain; Her 43 grandchildren, 26 great-grand-children (with six more on the way) will also miss her greatly. Ida loved reading, crocheting, quilting, and working with special care needs people. Fanua Tausinga, Siale Lausi'i Siale Lausi'i Fanua Tausinga 01/20/43 ~ 07/20/05 SALT LAKE CITY- Siale Lausi'i Fanua Tausinga, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend returned home to her loving Heavenly Father on July 20, 2005 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 20, 1943 in Neiafu, Vava'u, Tonga to Tevita and Liekina Lausi'i Fanua. She married Sitiveni 'Alama Tausinga on September 6, 1962. On the third day of December, 1968, she was sealed to her husband and family in the Auckland, New Zealand Temple. She is survived by her husband Sitiveni of 42 years and three children, Isileli Tupou Tausinga (Mona) of West Jordan, Sisilia Sitoafa Tuai (Mana) of Salt Lake City, and Samuela 'Ahokava Tausinga (Geni) of Lehi; grandchildren: Steven, Tomasi, McKelly, Ryland, Tapanima, Brandon, Calvin, Liekina, Tristan, Siale and Peti; and sisters (and children): 'Olini Fa'oa (Sini - Heisitini, Taani - 'Anolo, Tevita Lausi'i - Finau si'i, 'Olini si'i, and Sisifa), Finau Tongalahi (Rick), Nineti Lausi'i ('Ofa) and 'Eniketi Lausi'i (Mateaki leka, Ricky Heimuli, Kolokesa and Lesieli). She was preceded in death by her beloved father and mother, Tevita and Liekina Lausi'i Fanua and two sisters 'Ana 'Ungatea and Mitiola. Siale was a very hardworking and talented person. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, sewing, doing genealogy work, reading, teaching her children and singing in her ward choir. Her family loved her cooking and baking, and frequently visited her kitchen for delicious meals (especially her two sons). She was occupied as a seamstress for many years, and loved making beautiful Tongan quilts for family and friends. She was well known for dancing the Tongan Tau'olunga, and loved pleasing her audience. Her greatest mission in life was to serve all around her. She was a faithful and diligent servant to her Heavenly Father as she fulfilled various callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Most importantly, she was a light and beacon to her family and loved them unconditionally. She served with great love, compassion and understanding and freely gave of herself to help and comfort those in need. She lived an honorable and exemplary life, and we will greatly miss her, her spectacular cooking, her daily phone calls, the warmth of her smile and her wonderful spirit. GEORGE/TEASDALE, UTAH - William Lell Heaps, beloved husband, dad and grandpa, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2005 after a valiant battle with cancer and complications of diabetes. He was born August 3, 1931 in Bicknell, Utah, a son of Lorenzo and Wanda Fern Chidester Heaps. He married his Sweetheart, Ann Maxfield on June 5, 1951 in the Manti LDS Temple, sealed for time and all eternity. Together they raised a family in righteousness and love. Lell was a dedicated servant of our Father in Heaven throughout his life and served as Ward Clerk for four Bishops. He was a renowned musician. As a member of the Poverty Bench Boys, he used his beautiful singing voice to entertain, enrich and heal the lives of those who heard him. He was a skilled carpenter. His fireplace mantles grace homes from California to Washington DC. He served the Lord on building missions throughout the Western U.S. as well as Hawaii and Michigan. Lell is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ann Heaps, of St. George; seven children: Tim Heaps of Agoura Hills, CA; Cynthia and Al Medina of Chatsworth, CA; Beverly and Bryant Davis of Albuquerque, NM; Karen and Paul Cloward of Herriman, UT; LaWanda Davis of Riverton, UT; Bryan and Raven Heaps; Loralee and Forrest Christian of Helena, MT; and 15 grandchildren; all who will remember him with love, gratitude and joy for the life that he so richly lived. Merrill 1939 ~ 2005 Barbara Hodson Merrill, age 66, died from cancer July 24, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born March 23, 1939, in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Martell and Rose Bromley Hodson. Barbara graduated from East High School. She earned a Bachelors Degree in Education and then Masters Degrees in Psychiatric Social Work and Educational Psychology from the University of Utah. She later earned a Bachelors Degree in Organ Performance at Utah State University. She blessed the lives of others through her musical and artistic talents. She brought joy to many through her paintings, piano and organ performances. Barbara touched others through her professional work and church service. Her career included social work in Arizona and Utah, school counseling in Utah, and various other occupations that interested her throughout her life. Her church service included music, teaching and leadership callings, temple work, and missionary service. She and her husband Non served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Singapore, Malaysia, and India. Barbara married Non M. Merrill in the Salt Lake Temple, May 15, 1982. She is survived by her husband Non; her four children, Beverly Ririe, Ray Merrill, Sara Brunken and Todd Thompson; her husband's children, Monna Jo Merrill, Amos Merrill, Yvonne Doolhoff, and Jeremy Merrill; her 31 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; her brothers, Bill, Fred and Grant Hodson, her sister Jane Marsh, and her mother, Rose Hodson. She is preceded in death by her father Wm. Martell Hodson, her sister Lucile Hodson, two grandchildren, Amos V. Jr. Merrill and David C. Brunken and one great-grand daughter, Katie I. Merrill. Jackson, Dorothy June Dorothy June Jackson 1918 ~ 2005 Dorothy June Jackson passed away of causes incident to age. June had just celebrated her 87th birthday on June 20th with family and friends. June was married on October 22, 1940 to Leeland Jackson. They were married 56 years at the time of Lee's passing. June is survived by her two children: Brent and Penny Jackson of Poway CA and Jill and Neil Breinholt of West Bountiful, UT; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. June was raised in Farmington, UT where she had many happy childhood memories and spent time working in her parent's fruit orchard. June worked at JC Penny's in the material and notions department for 19 years. June was an excellent seamstress and has crocheted many afghans for family members. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent many years serving in the Primary organization. June was fun to be around and had many dear and lifelong friends including her sister's-in-law, brother-in-law, cousins, neighbors and co-workers. Lois E. Lois Larsen Madsen 1913 ~ 2005 Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Emma Lois Larsen Madsen, slipped peacefully away from us July 27, 2005. We will miss her love, leadership and friendship. Lois was born September 1, 1913 to Emma Petersen and Erastus Snow Larsen in Castle Dale, Utah. She graduated from Central High School in Castle Dale where she was an honor student and member of the Pep Club. She married her high school sweetheart, Alma Andersen Madsen, on April 21, 1933 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with six children and spent most of their married life in American Fork. Alma passed away April 16, 1985. She was active in her community and in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as PTA President of Harrington Elementary School, President of the Cultural Arts Club, President of the Relief Society and Primary, ward and stake chairman for BYU Education Week and receptionist in the Provo LDS Temple. After losing her sight, she inspired her family and everyone she met with her positive attitude. She taught quietly, by example, and emulated the Savior's love. She was a perfect example to her family. Lois will be remembered for her unfailing love and testimony of the Gospel. We will miss her tremendously; she truly was a strength to all who were blessed to be associated with her. Lois is survived by her children: Clifford L. (Lois), Castle Dale; Don L. He was born Jan. 3, 1918, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jacob Nageli and Edna Pearl Warwood. He was the second of 14 children. He attended Granite High School. He married Anna Dea Ence in 1940. He peddled fruits and vegetables in his early life until 1955 when he opened a fruit stand on Highland Drive until 1964. He drove a school bus for Granite School District for 29 years and worked as a custodian for the Winder Ward for several years. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in the bishopric at the Golden Living Center. Survived by his children, Don (Karen) Nageli; Janet (Glen) Nelson; Brent (Bonnie) Nageli; sisters, Francis Hardy, Floretta Lange, Eva Poulton, Betty Sorensen, LaVern Thomasson, Sandra Golder, Ann Riley; brothers, Bob, Reed, John and Dwayne Nageli; 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grand-children, one great-great-grandchild. Rogers, Dorothy Eggett Dorothy Eggett Rogers 1923 ~ 2005 Dorothy Eggett Rogers, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on July 25, 2005. Daughter of Henrietta Cooper and John Eggett, she was born Aug. 27, 1923 and grew up in SLC where she graduated from West High in 1941 and then attended the U of U. After World War II she worked for the US Army in Hawaii. It was there that she met the love of her life, Paul Rogers, whom she married in the Hawaiian Temple on June 11, 1949. She developed a deep love for Hawaii and shared many close friendships with the Hawaiian people. She and her husband returned to Utah to raise their two sons. Dorothy was devoted to her family as she made countless and invaluable sacrifices for them. Her grandchildren brought a special joy to her life. Dorothy worked as a secretary for many employers. The most rewarding time being the 18 years she spent at Rosslyn Heights School. There, she was a mother to all as she dispensed loving hugs and applied bandages to countless scraped knees. Dorothy also enjoyed gardening, tennis, travel and running. Later in life she started running and became a fixture at local road races winning many age group races for age 60+. Dorothy was a faithful member of the LDS church. She served in the Primary for many years where she was surrounded by the children she loved. She is survived by children Wayne (Michelle) Bountiful, John (Chrissy) Bountiful, and grandchildren Jeff, Haylee, Matthew, Jessica and Sophia, brothers John Eggett, Roger Eggett, Rodney Eggett and Larry Eggett, sisters Barbara Walker, Maxine Carson and Diane Johnson. She was born on October 7, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The daughter of Jackson D. Slusher and Katie J. Kearn. She attended Murray High School and Graduated from Jordan High School. She married Donald H. Smith on April 29, 1954 in Las Vegas Nevada. Elaine enjoyed her family and friends that have remained close to her though her life. Always ready to share stories of her youth and praise for her loved ones. She loved working on ceramics, camping and her summer home in Panguitch. Taylor Andersen, Shirley Eileen Shirley Eileen Taylor Andersen "Eternal Sweethearts" Shirley Eileen Taylor Andersen, of Centerville, Utah, left this earth on Wednesday, July 27th to reunite in heaven, with her eternal sweetheart, Robert Mack Andersen. Born January 6, 1924, In Idaho Falls, Idaho, to James Isaac and Ellen Bowen Taylor, she grew up in Garland, Utah and loved spending time in Spanish Fork at the home of her Icelandic Grandma listening to the women of the family gossip as they quilted and worked, and playing with her nephews. As a teenage girl attending a basketball game at Bear River High School, she boldly stuck out her foot to trip a handsome boy passing by. The boy, Robert Andersen, went on to make her his war bride, and after serving his country, came home to her alive and well. They set up housekeeping on the Andersen ancestral farm in Elwood, Utah. Three children later, they moved to Washington State and became farming pioneers in the Columbia Basin. In Washington, they added two more children to their happy family. In 1959, they were sealed as a family in the Salt Lake, LDS Temple. After many years Shirley and Bob's heartstrings drew them back to Utah to be near her aging parents and adored grandchildren. At this time, she began a successful career in rental management. She especially enjoyed assisting new immigrants in finding places to live and becoming part of the community. Many dear and lasting friendships were formed through this work. Shirley was graced with beauty, both outward and inward. She was famous for her delicious homemade soups. She loved gardening, antiques, genealogy, bridge, learning, sewing, music, friends and most of all, her husband and family. Shirley was active in the LDS Church and served in many positions, including Stake Relief Society President, Ward Relief Society President, Homemaker Leader and Young Women's President. Her sharp mind, sensitivity and sense of humor endeared her to all who knew her. Her ability to console and soothe others was a unique gift. Survived by children Judy Andersen-Geren (Ray), Christine Boyd (David), Barbara Gold (Jeff), Mack Andersen (Telarry) and Dena Luger (Steve), 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three of her four brothers. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 30th, 12:00 at Rick's Creek LDS Ward at 1500 North, Main Street, Centerville, Utah, where friends and family may call prior to the funeral at 10:45 a.m. She will be laid to rest in Bear River City Cemetery, Utah. They watched in amazement the magic he performed on us all. Once strained relationships melted into laughter and love at his mere smile. We became strong and our motives became clear as we held him in our arms. With his hand wrapped around our finger he pressed compassion for all others into our thoughts. His short presence with us has forever knitted our hearts together and made us realize that love is indeed the answer. Turner, Mary Alice Mary Alice Turner 1928 ~ 2005 Mary Alice Turner, 76, passed away on July 25, 2005, in Salt Lake City, UT. She was born on August 29, 1928, in Colonia Dublan, Chihuahua, Mexico to Harvey Taylor and Mary Alice Pierce. She married Richard B. Turner on August 5, 1948. Mary Alice graduated valedictorian from Juarez Stake Academy in 1946, then attended BYU. She loved to sing; she played baseball and tennis; she found joy in music, literature, nature, and her grandchildren; she had a dazzling smile; she dearly loved her husband of 57 years, taught her children well, and valiantly fought cancer for fifteen years. She is survived by her husband, six children, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two infant sons and three infant grandsons. "Sam" Velis, 75, died July 26, 2005, peacefully from natural causes with loved ones by his side. Sam was born on February 10, 1930 in McGill, Nevada to Nicholas and Anna Speropoulou Velissaropoulos. As an infant Sam returned with his family to their native Akrata, Greece, which he always considered home, returning to the US after World War II, and proudly serving our country in the Korean War. Married Jeanne J. Garcia in 1960, and lived in Ogden until 1979. After touring Greece and Australia, Sam and Jean have lived in Salt Lake City ever since. Sam dedicated his life to the nightclub and restaurant industry - namely the El Chico and Volume One. He knew how to throw a party and was known to gamble until he won. He had a love for all people and always enjoyed a good joke. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, daughter Anna Marie (Jon) Pezely, loving grandsons Jon Louis and William, and spitfire granddaughter, Jeannie Frances Pezely, all Salt Lake City, sister Soteria Soteropoulos, Akrata, Greece, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Alex and Bob.
