Bench, Ray F.
Ray F. Bench 1919 ~ 2005 Beloved father, grandfather, and brother, Ray F.
Bench, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2005. Born December 18, 1919 in Boneta,
Utah to Andrew Tatton and Grace Violet Anderson Bench. Served honorably in the
US Army during World War II in England, France, Belgium and Germany. Married
Evah Wright October 6, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. Ray worked on the
railroad, then later with the Utah Department of Transportation while living
in Duchesne. In 1957 he accepted employment with Phillips Petroleum Company in
Salt Lake City and retired in 1982. Survived by children: Russell (Ellen)
Bench, Centerville; Annamarie (Arno) Bosley, Salt Lake City; Barbara (Jeff)
Dymock, Herriman; nine grandchildren; sisters, Venice Lipkin, Salt Lake City;
Dorothy Cary, Kearns; brother, Dean W. Bench, West Jordan. Preceded in death
by his wife, Evah W. Bench; parents; brother, Calvin T. Bench; granddaughter,
Mary Jane Bosley. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2005, 11:00
a.m. at Taylorsville West Stake Center, 4505 South 3420 West, West Valley
City. Friends and family may call Saturday, 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to service.

Braithwaite, Larry L.
Larry L. Braithwaite 1937 ~ 2005 Six months shy of our 50th wedding
anniversary, Larry died tragically when he lost control of his vehicle while
heading home from a day fishing at Strawberry. He died May 30, 2005. He was
born January 16, 1937 to Laurence and Neva Norma Butcher Braithwaite in Salt
Lake City, Utah. He spent many years of his childhood in Ely and returned to
Salt Lake City where he married Barbara Johnson November 12, 1955. Together
they had seven children. Larry was a devoted son, husband, father and
grandfather. He was a brick mason and the hardest worker anyone knew. He
enjoyed working, fishing, hunting, camping and bowling and loved watching his
grandchildren's ball games. But most of all he loved talking to everyone. He
could strike up a conversation with anyone whether they were old friends or
total strangers. Little children will never forget him as they were the love
of his life. Many people will never forget his stories, as he had many to
tell, and his practical jokes that he played on many. He is survived by his
wife, Barbara; children: Mike (Teresa), Randy (deceased), Laurie Hemingway,
Jon, Darren (Kelley), Jeff, Jodi (Rick) Littleford; 15 grandchildren: Colette,
Mandy, Jake, Brad, Staci, Scott, Dylan, Cody, Whitney, Landon, McKenzee,
Brielle, Colton, Caitlyn; great-grandson, Dakota; brothers and sisters: Bob
(Louise), Bud, Stan (Mary), Norma (Mel), Les, Alice, Marge, Faye (Richard),
Connie (Jim), Judy; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents;
sister, Joyce; half sister and brothers: Gwen Chandler, Jack, and Ray. Funeral
services will be held Monday, 1:00 p.m. at the Granger North Stake Center,
3100 South 3450 West. A viewing will be held Sunday, 5-8 p.m. at McDougal
Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Monday at the church, 11:45 a.m. -
12:45 p.m. prior to service. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.

Cantrell, Maxine Jensen
Maxine Jensen Cantrell 1/21/1918 ~ 5/31/2005 Maxine Jensen Cantrell passed
away May 31, 2005 in Draper, Utah. She joined her sweetheart Floyd Kendrick
Cantrell. They were married on May 30, 1937. He passed away on October 5,
2002. Maxine was born on January 21, 1918, Salt Lake City, Utah to John Jensen
and Isabell Laub Jensen Curl. She worked side by side with her husband in
Chico California, at the grocery stores he managed. They then moved to Utah in
the mid 50's where they owned and operated Midvale Western Auto for 25 years.
After retirement Maxine and Floyd spent eight winters in Desert Hot Springs,
California. They loved to travel and were able to go to many places. She was a
loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time
with her grandchildren. Survived by Son, Noel F. Cantrell (Judy), daughter,
Susanne (Maurice) Escobar, grandchildren, Gregory Cantrell (Connie), Cami
(Russ) Weaver, Kendrick (Heather) Cantrell and Michelle Cantrell, and six
great grandchildren, Tanner, Isabel and Forrest Weaver, Garett, Calob, and
Kamden Cantrell. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2005, 11:00
a.m. East Midvale 1st Ward, 240 E. Greenwood Circle (7570 S.). Friends may
call Friday, June 3, 2005, at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600
S.) from 6-8 p.m. and the day of the service at the church from 10:00-10:45
a.m. Interment Mountainview Cemetery, Pocatello, Idaho.

Davis, Rosemary
Rosemary Davis 1941 ~ 2005 Rosemary Dorothy Stevens Davis left her earthly
existence to be received into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ May
31, 2005, at the age of 63, with the help of her loving family and the great
people at VistaCare Hospice. Rosemary was born in Medford, OR, December 1,
1941 to Fred and Dorothy Haynes Stevens. She married her eternal sweetheart
Byron Davis and on June 6th they would have celebrated 46 years together. They
were sealed in the Alberta Canada temple. Rosemary is survived by her husband
and six children: Kelly, Shelly, Jim, Phillip, Jared and Kimberly; her 17
grandchildren, seven great-grand-children, two nieces and four nephews were
her pride and joy. She is also survived by her two sisters Pamela Dahl and
Diana Hoffman. Preceded in death by her parents. She was a devoted member of
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served many callings
such as Relief Society president and Primary President. Her conviction to her
faith never faltered. Rosemary enjoyed researching family history and
attending the temple. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday,
June 5, 2005 in the LDS 11th Ward building, 270 North 300 East in Centerville.
A viewing will be held one hour prior to services at the church where friends
and family may call. Interment will follow at Centerville City Cemetery.

mother, grandmother and friend. She be dearly missed by all who knew her. We

Dean, Anne W.
Anne W. Dean 1913 ~ 2005 Our beloved mother, Anne Wells Dean, died May 29,
2005 at the age of 92. She was born May 14, 1913, to Melvin D. Wells and Ann
Elizabeth Young Wells. She grew up in the Sugarhouse area and graduated from
LDS High School. She married J. Lawrence Dean, June 30, 1937 in the Salt Lake
LDS Temple. Anne had a lovely alto voice, sang in many choirs and served as
president of the Associated Women's Chorus. She held numerous church positions
in Sugarhouse and Grant Stakes and served nine years as a temple worker. She
loved her years as Young Women's President and Spiritual Living teacher in
Relief Society in her ward and at Chateau Brickyard. She spent six years
caring for her husband Lawrence following a stroke. Preceded in death by her
loving husband and 10 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her six
children, Claudia (Gilbert) Olsen, Sylvia (Kenneth) Swain, Kathryn Boyer,
Elizabeth (Cary) Larsen, Virginia (Randall) Humphrey, and Robert (Keri) Dean,
31 grandchildren, 52 great-grand children, and one great-great-granddaughter.
Special thanks to Crosslands Rehab and Home Haven Hospice for their kind and
loving care. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4, 11:00 a.m. at
River Ridge 7th Ward, 10200 S. 1300 W., S. Jordan (adjacent to Jordan River

Flack, Marc Douglas
Marc Douglas Flack "The Chief" Dr. Marc Douglas Flack, age 58, died
unexpectedly due to an enlarged heart on May 31, 2005 in Holladay, Utah. He
was born to A. LeGrand and Dora Dutson Flack in Provo, Utah. He served in the
New Zealand South Mission for the LDS Church. He graduated from Marquette
University School of Dentistry. He specialized in Holistic Dentistry and was a
Fellow in the AGD and the IAOMT. He had a great love and concern for his
patients' health and well-being and was a dedicated healer. He married J.
Annette Bean in the Salt Lake Temple on February 7, 1975 and they generously
shared their energetic and warm home with many for 30 years. He loved his
family, fishing and soccer. He is survived by his much loved children: J.L.,
Brandon (Kristin), McGarren (Lisa), Taylor (Brenda), Nancy Nicole (Jake),
Courtney (Lietza) Lentz, Damien Lentz, Garred (Brooke) Lentz and
grandchildren: Isaac, Addison, Kamri, Ammon, Kajsa, Analia, and Ellie.
"Chocolate was his favorite food, And soccer was his life. Next to all his
loving kids, And his adoring wife!" Funeral services will be held Saturday,
June 4th at 11:00 a.m. at the Olympus 1st Ward, 4100 South Camille Drive (2500
East). Friends may call Friday evening, June 3, 2005 at Olympus 1st Ward from

Forkner, Dorothy Lou Nelson
Dorothy Lou Nelson Forkner 1929 ~ 2005 Dorothy Lou Nelson Forkner, 76, died
May 22, 2005 at the hospital in Parker, Colorado. Services will be in Salt
Lake City, Utah. The viewing will be Wednesday, June 1, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at
Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. The funeral
will be at the mortuary at 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 2, with viewing at
11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial
Park. Dorothy was born April 14, 1929 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the daughter of
Arthur Louis and Magdalena (Stucki) Nelson. She grew up on a farm in Coltman,
Idaho and attended school in that area. She lived various places after her
marriage to Duane W. Drake. After their divorce, she lived in Salt Lake City
for 45 years, and then in Elizabeth, Colorado for three years with her
daughter, Valerie Drake Brinkworth, and son-in-law, Richard T. (Dick)
Brinkworth. Dorothy's favorite pastime was reading. She also enjoyed cooking,
and her food was delicious. She liked to visit with family and friends. Her
parents, and husband, Dee Forkner, preceded her in death, as well as her
sister, Delora Hansen, and brother, Dennis Nelson. She is survived by five
brothers and their wives, all of Salt Lake City: Willard (Verda) Nelson, Oren
(Liz) Nelson, Emery (Mae) Nelson, Dalmas (JoAnn) Nelson, and Arlen (Marie)
Nelson. She has six grandsons and their wives: Richard D. (Rick) (Sandra)
Brinkworth, Craig D. (Sheriene) Brinkworth, Michael J. (Dusty) Brinkworth,
John J. (Julie) Brinkworth, Daniel A. (Aubrey) Brinkworth, and Thomas A.
(Christine) Brinkworth. She has 19 great-grandchildren. We love her and miss
her.

Galloway, Emma Fraser
Emma Fraser Galloway Scottie On May 29, 2005 our Wife, Mother, Grandmother,
and Friend was released from the bonds of Alzheimer's, and now is free to
enjoy life in a better place with those that have gone before her. Born in
Edinburgh, Scotland, June 15, 1919 to John and Janet Whitelaw. Emma served
proudly as a Teletype Operator in the Women's Royal Air force during World War
II. It was there that she met a handsome young American Airman (our father)
Paul E. Galloway. They had a beautiful courtship that culminated in Marriage
on June 20, 1944. Three children came from this union, Pauline, Scot, and
Bruce. Paul and Emma lived in Salt Lake City, Bountiful, Huntsville, Alabama,
and West Jordan. In each location Mom turned a house into a loving home. She
turned each home into a place that we all felt loved and safe from the outside
world. Mom is now preparing another beautiful home for all of us to return to,
and will be waiting with open arms to welcome us all to our Heavenly home.
Emma is survived by her Husband of 60 years Paul, Children Pauline(Bill)
Preston, Scot (Dusty Dawn) Galloway, Bruce Galloway, Five Grandchildren,
Stephanie (Jeff) Hamilton, Randy Preston, John Preston, Michael (De De)
Preston, Robert Galloway, and eight great-grandchildren, two nephews Alan
Yates, Graham Yates of Canada. Preceded in death by two Sisters. Because of
Emma's love for Scotland the family asks that in lieu of flowers that you
donate to either the Utah Scottish Association P.O. Box 702345 WVC, Utah 84170
or St. Andrews Society 4648 S. Dartmouth Dr. WVC, Utah 84119. The family would

Garside, Elaine Leona
Elaine Leona Garside 1924 ~ 2005 Elaine Leona Monson Garside, loving wife,
mother and grandmother, age 80, passed away May 30, 2005 in Salt Lake City,
Utah. Elaine was born November 26, 1924 in Salt Lake City to Albert J. Monson
and Chloe Shaw Monson. She graduated from Cyprus High School. Elaine married
Heber Blake Garside on May 19, 1943 in Salt Lake City. Active member of the
L.D.S. Church where she served in many capacities including Primary and Young
Woman's President, she was a wonderful teacher, Jordan River Temple worker,
served a Mission to Cambodians and Washington D.C. Temple. She was active in
politics, community affairs and P.T.A. President. She loved life and people,
always cheerful and had a wonderful sense of humor. She will be greatly missed
by many, especially her family and friends. Elaine is survived by her
children, Kim (Don) Gurney, Marsha (Gary) Beck, Jan (Bill) Witsman, Heber
Blake Jr. (Susan) Garside, Teren (Ed) Knight and Nona (Greg) Porter; siblings,
Colleen (Norman) Bangerter, LaRue (Lee) Kirk and Dr. Jay A. (Jane) Monson; 27
grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her

Gough, Christine Leeann Bird
Christine Leeann Bird Gough 1976 ~ 2005 Christine was born to Wayne and Sherry
Bird on November 7, 1976. She graduated from Bingham High School in 1995,
attended Salt Lake Community College, and two years at the University of Utah.
Her interest was always toward Early Childhood Development. Christine was a
beautiful, quiet, and questioning little girl. She had an array of dolls she
always cared for and were part of her growing up years. She loved her books,
and there were very few nights missed without a bedtime story. She developed a
very strong language and communication skill, and usually managed to obtain
her end goal. She always looked forward to family outings and was constantly
planning the next get together or party. Christine was very conscientious
throughout her school years and always obtained good grades. During her high
school and early college years, she was a nanny for several years for twins
and later worked in various day care centers. She especially loved and wanted
to be with the infants. On August 15, 1998 she married Rustin Gough at the
home of his parents, Dewayne and Susan Gough, in Woodland, Utah. During the
past several years, they lived in their home; and Susan and DeWayne always
cared for and treated Christine as their own. On May 2, 2000, their little
girl, Portia, was born. Portia is a very bright, happy, affectionate child and
was the love of Christine's life. Over the past five years, they have lived
between Salt Lake and Woodland, Utah and a couple of years in Steamboat
Springs, Colorado. On May 29, 2005, we kissed Christine goodbye following
complications after the birth of her second little girl, Paris June. Christine
grew to be a very beautiful person, inside and out. She had a very strong
inner spirit which she acquired through her belief in Jesus Christ. Her family
was always her major focus in life. Christine leaves behind her husband;
children; parents; her brother, Kelly Bird, and sister-in-law, Angela, their
children, Kaitlyn and Mckinley, in-laws; grandparents, Everett and Clarice
Ball, Inez Bird, Doug and Fran Pillow, and her brother and sister-in-law, Jana
and Wayne Gough and their children, Jaren, Jansen, and Jayda and many other
aunts, uncles and cousins. All of us will help to develop and shape the growth
of her children in a way Christine would be proud of. Christine, we love you
and will miss you so very much. Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 3,
2005 at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. 10600 So., Sandy. The family
will receive friends at the Mortuary that same day from 12:00-1:45 p.m.

Gray, LaVaughn
LaVaughn Gray 1920 ~ 2005 Our beloved aunt, cousin, and friend, LaVaughn Gray,
passed away May 31, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born June 7, 1920 in
Burley, Idaho to Melvin Barney and Laura Gray. LaVaughn was raised by her aunt
and her grandma as a sister of, Alfred Tomita, Bill Gray, Ivan Tomita, and
Sally Tomita Alexander, who have all preceded her in death. She worked for 42
years at Varian Eimac before retiring. She enjoyed photography, playing the
mandolin, and the outdoors. She taught couples dance for several years.
Survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, and "Little
Sister", Marilyn Orr. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 3,
2005 at the Murray City Cemetery, 5600 So. Vine St. Condolences may be sent

Gutke, Laura G.
Laura G. Gutke 1981 ~ 2005 Her light burned so bright it couldn't burn long.
Laura Gillette Gutke was born February 22, 1981 and struggled for life from
the beginning. She had a special attraction and fought hard to get what she
wanted. Laura loved with a passion. Through the years she brought joy and
laughter to family and friends, and had a powerful love for the children in
her family. Laura chose the man she wanted, tricked him into a first kiss, and
married him August 18, 2001. As her time on earth drew near its end, she
looked forward to her grandfather and uncle welcoming her to heaven. She is
survived by her loving husband, Roger Lynn Gutke; parents, George and Rachel
Gillette; sisters, Dea (Sean) Foard, Marinda Gillette, Tarina (Neal) Davidson;
brother, Jeremiah Gillette; and many relatives and in-laws. We cry for our
loss but rejoice in your new life and freedom. We will hold a casual graveside
service at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4th at Lakeview Memorial Estates, 1640 E.
Lakeview Dr., Bountiful.

Huang, Hsin I.
Hsin I Huang 1941 ~ 2005 Beloved husband, father, grandfather and son, passed
away on May 27, 2005 after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Born in
Taiwan on January 21, 1941, Hsin came to the United States in 1969 to pursue
his Master's from Clemson University and PhD from the University of Washington
in Mechanical Engineering. He settled his family in Utah in 1978. He had a
natural curiosity that he infused in his family and led to a love of opera,
gardening, travel, fishing, and a thorough love and enjoyment of life. He is
survived by his mother Sue, wife Sandy, brother David, daughter Christine, son
Rex, daughter-in-law Julie and three grandsons. A memorial service will be
held at the Chinese Christian Church, 1910 East 3900 South in Salt Lake City
on Saturday, June 4, 2005, at 3:00 p.m.

Johanson, Lottie
Lottie Johanson 1915~2005 Lottie Amelia Brim Johanson, age 90, passed away on
Monday, May 30, 2005. She was born February 22, 1915, to William Melvin and
Edna Anderson Brim. She married Thomas Reed Johanson on October 5, 1936, in
the Salt Lake Temple. Lottie is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Candelaria,
Grantsville; sons William C. (Ila) Johanson, Lindon, Utah and Kenneth R.
Johanson, Ewa Beach, Hawaii; 14 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services Friday, June 3 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grantsville West Stake
Center, 115 East Cherry Street, with a viewing one hour prior.

Kelly, Ann Louise
Ann Louise Kelly "Grandma Ann" Ann Louise Kelly 62, died May 27, 2005. After a
long battle with cancer, she returned home to family members and Heavenly
Father. Ann was born in Ogden, Utah May 8th 1943 to Warren Sevy and Evelyn
Todd White. She married her love, George Kelly September 19th 1961. Ann was a
loving and giving mother, wife, grandma and friend to many. She was known to
many as Grandma Ann. Ann was a foster parent for 20 years, where she was very
generous and loving. The last 13 years Ann was a Teachers Aid working with
special needs kids in Granite School District. She truly loved the kids and
they loved her back. She loved doing handicrafts including sewing, cabbage
patch, porcelain dolls and knitting. Ann has served in many different callings
in the LDS church. Ann is survived by her husband George Kelly, three sons,
Joe and Patti Kelly, Tom and Lesley Kelly, Ron and Connie Kelly and five
grandkids, David, Ashley, Ryan, Merissa, and Amanda. Siblings Warren White
(brother), Odgen, Cheri (sister) and Gary Boatright, Riverdale, Janice
(sister) and Kerri Androes, West Valley. Funeral services will be held
Saturday, June 4th 2005 11:00 a.m. at the Granger 6th Ward, 3274 South
Hillsdale Drive (2760 West). Friends may call on Friday from 6-8 pm at the

Kiser, Patricia Anne Robinson
Patricia Anne Robinson Kiser 1930 ~ 2005 Passed away at her home in Salt Lake
City, UT May 30, 2005 following a brief struggle with liver cancer. Patricia
was born in Atlantic City, NJ, 16 Aug 1930 to Thomas E. Robinson and Virginia
Jeremy Wright Robinson. She graduated from East High School and attended the U
of U where she held the honor of Sweetheart of Sigma Chi, which earned her a
modeling contract with ZCMI. She married George Cluff Kiser in the Salt Lake
LDS Temple Jan 10, 1949. After marriage, she and George enjoyed an extended
honeymoon while he completed Fighter Pilot Training in the USN Air Corp. They
struggled through dental school together while happily raising four boys.
After he joined the USAF she enjoyed traveling the world while adding another
son and a daughter. When George retired as a USAF Colonel, they settled in San
Antonio, Texas. Pat selflessly served others in church and community
capacities touching the lives of many people for good. She felt honored to
work under the direction of the US State Dpt. supervising the adoption of
Vietnamese children after the Vietnam war, and to be the first Caucasian woman
to visit and comfort now Senator John McCain after his release as a POW. Pat
loved music, serving as Director of the Promised Valley Choir at the
Servicemen's Conference in Berchtesgaden, Germany, the choir at the LDS
pavilion at the Hemisphere World's Fair in San Antonio, Texas, and the choir

taught piano for years and was dearly loved by all her students. She was an
avid reader and could always be seen with a book. Arranging numerous family
gatherings for the strengthening of eternal bonds was important to Pat. Her
abiding love for her family, her stalwart testimony and example of righteous
living has left behind a marvelous, legacy for which we are grateful. Patricia

Kramer, Jason Michael
Jason Michael Kramer 10/29/78 ~ 5/27/05 Our beloved son, brother, father,
uncle, nephew, and friend passed away Friday, May 27, 2005. Jason attended
Highland High School where he played Rugby on the team that won the national
championship. Later he attended Salt Lake Community College. He had a gift for
writing, especially poetry. He was an avid reader and knew as much about
philosophy as a professor. He enjoyed working at book stores, particularly in
Dallas, where he was a favorite of his colleagues and excelled as a Special
Orders Specialist. He worked at Highland Ridge Hospital for several years,
where he delivered friendship and compassion to his peers and to those seeking
care. Jason made friends wherever he went. His quickness of wit was astounding
and an endless pleasure. He was unusually loyal and willing to take the fall
for his friends. He had a sweetness and sensitivity that drew others to him in
times of need. He was adored by his father, Rob; stepmother, Nancy;
stepbrother, Branden Neish (Denise); nephew (Alec); stepsister, Natalie
Birrell (Bob); sister, Laura; foster sister, Callie Wood; and daughter,
Mikella; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. We will all miss him dearly
but are comforted in knowing that he is freed from his suffering. A wake will
be held to celebrate his life on Friday. Those close to Jason or his family

Stella Gardiner Lewis 1927 ~ 2005 Stella Gardiner Lewis, age 78, passed away
Saturday, May 28, 2005, in Riverside, California surrounded by her family.
Stella was born on May 3, 1927 in Pleasant Grove, UT to Roy and Stella Culmar
Gardiner. She married Malin D. Lewis on September 3, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS
Temple. She was an active member of the LDS church and held many callings
during her lifetime. She loved to read and spend time with her extended family
and many friends. She enjoyed participating in various church activities. She
never missed her daily walk with special friends and neighbors. Stella and
Malin loved to travel and took many wonderful trips together before Malin
passed away in June of 1993. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Ann (John)
Oldham; son Craig Alan (Debbie) Lewis; five grandchildren; and one great
grandchild. Funeral services will be Saturday June 4, 2005, 11 am, at the
Rosecrest First Ward, 3101 South 2300 East. Friends may call on Friday evening

Laura Hyde Manwaring-Sparrow 1958 ~ 2005 Laura Jean Hyde Manwaring-Sparrow
died on May 29, 2005 at the age of 46 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was a brave woman, special mom, good wife and an inspiration to all that
met her. Her motto in life was "Live life to the fullest and always choose the
right." We will all miss her dearly. She is survived by her four children:

Samuel Naccarato 4/14/1917~5/27/2005 Samuel Naccarato, 88, passed away of
causes incident to age, May 27, 2005 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born April
14, 1917 in Salt Lake City, Utah son of Joseph and Felicia Leonnetti
Naccarato. He married Alice Remigi in 1939. She preceded him in death. He was
a long time commercial and retail butcher and also worked in the construction
field. He served in World War II in the US Army Air Corp, stationed in the
Philippines and in Korea. He was a resident of North Salt Lake and Pacifica,
CA. He is survived by his son, Larry, one grandson, Leon, and sister,
Elizabeth. Graveside services will be Friday, June 3, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at
the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2220 South 200 West. Friends may call at the

Loraine D. Nance 1911 ~ 2005 BRIGHAM CITY - Loraine Duncan Nance, 93, died
peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at the Brigham
Nursing and Retreat. Loraine was born October 25, 1911 in Meadow, Utah, the
third child of David and Louie Stringham Duncan. She was raised in Clearfield,
Utah and was educated in the Davis County Schools. She met the love of her
life, Wendell M. Nance, at a dance and they were married in the Logan LDS
Temple on October 23, 1928. Wendell died January 17, 1991. She is survived by
three children: Paul (Dottie) Nance, Blen (Lynn) Nance and Ann (Don) Davis, 20
grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren, two
sisters, Blenda Barrett and Leatha Gaylor. Funeral services will be held
Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main Street.

Oman, Melea Diane Celeste
Melea Diane Celeste Oman 1986 ~ 2005 Melea Diane Celeste Oman burst into this
life on May 3, 1986 in Murray, Utah. After 19 years of joy, laughter,
happiness and compassion, an underlying sadness and pain took her life. She
passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2005 in Salt Lake City. Melea attacked each day
of life with vigor and excitement. She was boisterous and fun, but loving and
gentle. Melea had a wide diversity of friends and people couldn't help but
smile and have fun when they were with her. She lit up a room when she entered
and left her impression on everyone she met. Melea had a strong motherly
instinct and shared that with every little child she could, especially her
younger cousins (and ever her older brothers). She loved animals, including
her dog Lucy, her little rabbit Elliot but especially her Dalmatian Molly.
Melea loved and was loved by her family. She was the only daughter of David
and Ellie Oman and the sister of three brothers: Joshua (Mildred), Andrew and
her younger brother, Aaron. She was preceded in death by both of her
grandmothers, by her dear friend and aunt, Diane and her cousins Michael and
Thomas. Melea is survived by a very large family of cousins, aunts, uncles and
her loving Grandfathers Edward Carter and Dorse Oman. Her many friends and her
family eagerly await the day when they will be reunited with her. Funeral
services are to be held at the Crescent South Stake Center 265 E. 10600 S. at
2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2005. A viewing will be held from 12:45 to 1:45
p.m. on that day. There will also be a viewing on Friday, June 3 from 6:00 to
8:00 p.m. at the same location. On Sunday, June 5 at 6:00 p.m. Melea's friends
are invited to a gathering at 10305 S. Golden Willow Dr. (165 E.). Funeral

Jacob Cody Pratt "Jake" The bright candle that was ignited on August 29, 1989
when Jacob Cody Pratt was born to Jessica Jensen Pratt and Donald A. Pratt was
extinguished in a tragic automobile accident during the evening of May 27,
2005. Jake's incandescent smile, cheerful outlook, and genuine love have
blessed the lives of all who know him. Jake died at age 15. He would have
graduated from the ninth grade at Farmington Jr High on the day of his
viewing. He was looking forward to sophomore football at Viewmont High School
this fall. He loves his long, naturally curly hair, making music with an
acoustic guitar, his many friends, and literally everyone he meets. He has no
enemies because he makes a friend of anyone who tries to be his enemy. Jake is

Evelyn May Alden Rix 1920 ~ 2005 Evelyn May Alden Rix, age 84, passed Tuesday,
May 31, 2005, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Evelyn was born on August 15, 1920 in
Norwich, England to Walter and Helen Lemmon Rix. She married H. John Rix in
1940. Evelyn was well known for her marvelous knitting, sewing, and
crocheting. She not only made gifts for all of her family members, but also
made hundreds of items to donate to a variety of causes. She loved her garden,
and continued to maintain her lovely flower beds in spite of her failing
health. She is survived by: her sisters Jean Rogers and Margaret Ribbons, and
her brother Vernon Alden, all of Norwich, England; her children Gillian and
(Marvin) Jensen, John (Judy) Rix, and Alden (Jhana) Rix; 10 grandchildren and
17 great-grandchildren; and her adopted American sisters Virginia, Bernice,
Myrla, Afton, and Gloria. Funeral services for Evelyn will be held on

Samuelson, Ray T. (Ted)
Ray T. (Ted) Samuelson 1924 ~ 2005 Ray T. (Ted) Samuelson passed away
peacefully on May 28, 2005, from complications following surgery. He was
preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jayne Samuelson, on October 4,
2004. Ted was born Sept. 7, 1924 to Ray Samuelson and Edna Thomsen in Salt
Lake City. He attended local schools and was a graduate of East High School.
Ted is survived by one daughter, Kris, of Bailey, Colorado; granddaughters
Jillian Fischer and Sara Fischer of Denver; sisters and brothers-in-law Lori
and Richard Frandsen, Sandy; Judy and Jeff Tidwell, Holladay; brother Gary
Samuelson, Sandy; nieces and nephews Andrea, Mike, Jeff, Suzie, Ellen, Lisa,
and Mark along with their families. Ted was an avid skier and liked to recall
when, as a young man attending East High School, times were tough and money
was scarce. He and his friends would hike up the slopes at Alta to ski back
down again. During World War II he worked at Treasure Island Naval Base in
California, then for United Airlines, both jobs fostering his love of
aviation. He designed, built and flew model airplanes for many years. Ted
placed first at the National Model Airplane Championships in Dallas, Texas, in
1950. Later on, he raced boats and eventually sports cars. He also loved
photography and had his own dark room for many years. He and Mary Jayne
enjoyed travel and golf. Ted was a genuine handyman who could fix anything.
With his father, Ray T. Samuelson Sr., he owned and operated Ray's Music
Company in Salt Lake City, taking over the business upon Ray's death. Ted will
be missed by the loyal and caring employees who became as close as family over
the years. Ted was a kind and generous man with a unique sense of humor, and
was loved by many. A viewing will be Thursday, June 2, at Larkin Sunset Lawn
Mortuary (2350 E. 1300 South) at 1:00 p.m., with services at 2:00. Cremation
will follow. Friends are encouraged to attend and share their memories. Please

Magree George Schaerr 1926 ~ 2005 (Nora) Magree George, 79, of West Valley
City, was born May 5, 1926 in Bruce, Walton County, FL to Pasley Bryant George
and Bessie Beatrice Register. She has two brothers, Donald and Glen. Magree
passed away May 31, 2005 at her daughter's home in Orem, Utah after a
courageous battle with kidney cancer. She married Wallace Schaerr on July 12,
1956 in the Logan, Utah Temple. They are the parents of five children: Gene
(Martha Canty) of Derwood, Maryland; Will (Allison Judy) of Riverton, Utah;
Carol Hill (Scott) of Orem, Utah; Joy Harrison (Allen) of South Jordan, Utah;
and Ken (Laure Bourne) of Marion, Iowa. There are 25 grandchildren and one
great grandchild, with three more great grandchildren on the way. Her family
is her greatest joy. Magree loved Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings
including a full-time mission to the Southern States from 1953-1955; Ward
Relief Society and Primary Presidents; Gospel Doctrine, Primary and Relief
Society Teachers; and Ward Missionary. She is survived by her husband,
children and grandchildren, and her brother, Bishop Glen George of Bonifay,
Florida. Magree is happily reunited with her mother and father who preceded
her in death, and with her brother, Donald. Funeral Services will be held
Saturday, June 4, 2005 at 12:00 noon at the Valley View Ward Building, 5180

Sunday, May 29, 2005, in Riverton, Wyoming of a lingering illness. Born
September 23, 1962, in Bountiful, Utah to Fredrick Frank and Wilda Hardy
Holcomb. Adopted at infancy and raised by Darrold Wayne Schryver. Graduated
from Davis High School and attended Utah State University. Served an LDS
Netherlands Amsterdam mission. Married Julie Chestnut July 6, 1990, later
divorced. Todd was born with a love of music, played the piano and had an
amazing singing voice. He had a winning personality, loved children and had a
tender heart. His daughter was the love of his life. Survived by his daughter,
Shelby Campbell, mother and step-father, Wilda and Lowell Hess; brothers,
William R. Schryver (Belinda), Scott Schryver (April), Darron Schryver

Welch, Arza Huff
Arza Huff Welch "God, Family, Country" The life of Arza Huff Welch drew to a
peaceful conclusion on May 30, 2005 in his home where he was tenderly embraced
by the love of his family. He touched our lives, and so many others for good
and emulated the love of our Savior. He embraced the gospel of Jesus Christ
and spent his life striving to live its principles and build the kingdom of
God through quiet service. Huff was loyal to his family and shared an
endearing love with his wife and eight children. Each felt important and
cherished and this feeling spread among all immediate and extended family
members as well as neighbors and friends. Our patriarch, he led his family
with virtue, kindness, and love unfeigned. A patriot, he valiantly served in
World War II and celebrated the fourth of July with special vigor; it being
the day of his birth (1921) as well as that of our country. Petros, a rock, he
stood for truth and righteousness and fervently prayed his descendants would
defend the faith he and his forefathers fought for so diligently. He honored
his priesthood faithfully completing church callings and blessing the lives of
his family, fellow church members, and any with whom he came in contact. And
Huff was our pal. He listened and laughed with us, cried with and comforted
us, and loved and cherished our dear mother Elaine, whom he married in the
Salt Lake Temple in August of 1946. Because of the eternal covenants that have
sealed them together for time and all eternity, we celebrate their love for us
and ours for them. Though the outstanding accomplishments of his life are
many, too many actually to be listed here, the most important thing we think
he would want to be remembered for is the kindness he showed and the testimony
he bore. He will be especially missed by his wife, Elaine Olson Welch;
children, Karen Welch Coleman (Reed), David Welch (Ronda), Winona Welch
Giddings (John), Vedel Welch (Jan), Charles Welch (Ina), Donna Welch, Ronald
Welch (Vicki), Sylvia Welch Sudeth (Mark); and his 25 grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren. One great-granddaughter is already by his side. You are

Whetton, Martha Alice
Martha Alice Whetton 1920 ~ 2005 Martha Alice Whetton passed away peacefully
on May 27, following a long illness with Alzheimer's disease and complications
from pneumonia. She was born July 26, 1920 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She
married Floyd W. Whetton and they raised five children and traveled
extensively as part of Floyd's service in the U.S. Air Force. She became a
U.S. citizen in 1956. Martha's greatest pride and joy was her family. She
loved to cook, knit, work in her garden, take her little dog for walks, and be
of service. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she
enjoyed teaching young children and sharing her many wonderful cooking
talents. Martha was always patient and cheerful and even with the devastating
effects of Alzheimer's, she could still smile and laugh. Martha loved her
little home and was fortunate to remain there until the time of her death.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd; sister, Gertrude;
brother, Albert; and one nephew, Robert Falconer. She is survived by two

David (Miriam) Gilbert, Arizona, and Floyd (Mary) Tucson; ten grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on
Thursday, June 2 at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 E. Grant Road. A second
viewing will take place on Friday, June 3, 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. at The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rincon Stake Center, 1655 S. Melpomene Way,
with Funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m.

Yeaman, Afton Jean Knebelau Park
Afton Jean Knebelau Park Yeaman "Mom" Afton Jean Knebelau Park Yeaman passed
away May 28, 2005. She was born on November 8, 1920 in Murray, Utah to Henry
and Drucilla Meyers Knebelau. Married Kenneth L. Park, deceased. Married Garth
T. Yeaman, deceased. Special thanks to Sandy Regional for the great care they
gave to our mother. Survived by one son, Kenneth Alan Park; five daughters,
Karla Jean Stay, Sandra K. Tanner, Afton Joan Paetsch, Renee Garrett, and
Robyn (Jim) Edginton; three sisters; 17 grandchildren; 38
great-grand-children; five great-great-grand-children. Preceded in death by
parents, both husbands, two sisters, and two granddaughters. Funeral services
will be held Friday, June 3, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary,
4760 So. State St. where friends and family may call from 6-8 p.m. on
Thursday, June 2nd and one hour prior to services on Fri. Interment South
Jordan Cemetery.
