Craig, Joyce Coleman Joyce Coleman Craig 4/12/1922 ~ 6/03/2005 On the evening of June 3rd 2005 our precious mother, sister, and grandmother took her last peaceful breath then faded into celestial peace. Leaving her children at her bedside and reuniting with her parents, Guy and Teresa Coleman; and her brothers, Lowell, and Pete. Joyce was born April 12, 1922 in Midway, Utah. She had a fairytale childhood. Her father owned and operated Colemans store and theatre in Midway. Because of the long hours he dedicated to the store, their family time was limited to early morning hours. They would have sunrise breakfasts in the canyons, the mountains, and at Grandma Springer's house. Another magical memory of hers was sleeping on the balcony of their home with her brothers and sisters under the stars. She was crowned Miss Blackhawk Queen when she was 17, but the true jewels in her crown were her children and grandchildren. Joyce was a local employee at the Homestead Resort where she worked for 30 years. She had the privilege of meeting church presidents, high officials, and celebrities. She had a unique quality or charisma about her that made everyone she met feel special. All who knew her considered her a friend. She auditioned for and was selected to act in a nationally televised commercial. She loved politics, campaigning for her favorite candidates, her father and her brother. Both were Wasatch County Commissioners. She also campaigned, together with Robert Redford, when Wayne Owens ran for the Senate. Joyce loved autumn leaves, going for rides up Snake Creek, and going for breakfast with her sisters. She loved going shopping, bowling, and watching the Jazz games. She leaves behind her best friends and sisters, Rose Hoyt, and Maud Derry of Midway, Utah. Her children are Richard Thomas Jones, Valerie Teresa Thacker (Jay R.), Mary Kae Atkinson (Farrel), KrisAn Craig, Kenneth Coleman Craig, and Carol Pelton Boehme. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2005, 11 a.m. in the Midway LDS 2nd Ward, 250 E. 200 So., Midway.
