Cade, William "Bill" William "Bill" Cade 1923 ~ 2005 William "Bill" Cade, son of Oscar and Olive Cade, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away March 21, 2005. William was born in Walnut, Iowa on September 7, 1923. He married Ivy Elizabeth Barratt in January 1946. She preceded him in death. Bill married Annie Smith Seegmiller in July, 1968 and they have shared 36 years of marriage. Bill served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and also as a dedicated police officer with the Salt Lake City Police Department for 28 years. Bill enjoyed his family and friends who knew him affectionately as "Wild Bill" or "Willie". He is survived by his wife Annie, sister Bette Griffith of Walnut, Iowa, son Scott of California, step-children: JoAnn Reiser, J. Richard Seegmiller, Judy Jacobson and John C. Cook, Robert "Bob" Robert "Bob" Cook 1942 ~ 2005 The kind, gentle and loving spirit of Robert "Bob" Cook went to be with God on March 22, 2005 to find the best fishing holes and golf courses in heaven so that when his loving wife Kathie Lingo Cook, someday joins him, they can play together once again. Those celebrating Bob's life are his daughters; Kimberlee Brown (John), Wendi Sorensen (Helen), Kristina Cook (Kevi), Christine Jackan (Jeffrey), and his son, Todd Kramer. Bob is loved and treasured by his mother, Alice Brooks and his four brothers: Gerald, George (Betty), Doug (Linda), and Rex (Chyrrel), and his sister-in-law and friend: Bobbie Empey. Married James Burris Davenport III November 29, 1945; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple October, 1957. She was a vibrant, caring, loving mother, sister, friend and companion. She enjoyed traveling, reading, making beautiful gifts with her hands and loved the Utah Jazz. Married James Keith Dodge February 19, 1980; he preceded her in death. Fern was a great influence to her brothers and sisters when their mother died when they were all very young. She loved to sing and be active in the choirs. Her love was centered in her husband and daughter. Lorene D Eskelson 1922 ~ 2005 ~ Sister, dear sister ~ 'Renie' passed quietly in the company of her family and friends incident to Alzheimer's disease on 21 March, 2005. She was the first-born to Cleamond Eskelson and Elizabeth Jane Durrant on 7 August, 1922 in American Fork, Utah. 'Renie' grew to be a much loved and wonderful woman, sister and friend. In her teens, she played softball with the 'Shamrocks' professional softball team. She was the first woman from Utah to enlist in the USMC during World War II. On completion of basic training, she was stationed in San Francisco and assigned to drive ambulance to transport the wounded men and women from the ships to the hospitals. After the war, she operated a bar before returning to Utah and higher education at the U of U where she earned her Masters of Psychology degree. She became a teacher, counselor and friend to many students ("her kids") at Skyline High. She treated everyone equally and helped many students graduate by using her counseling skills. She loved and missed them after retiring in 1984 after 29 years service having suffered a minor stroke. She was an accomplished, award-winning photographer, and artist. Her hobbies took her to the great outdoors: traveling, camping, fishing and hunting. She was a fisher and hunter who had several trophies to her credit. She was preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her brother Dr. Cleamond (Lorene) Eskelson of Gilbert, AZ, her sister Ina Pendleton-Felts (Mel) of Magna, UT and a nephew, three nieces, many grand-nephews, grand-nieces, and many, many friends. The family is very appreciative of, and wishes especially to thank the staffs of Garden Terrace, Silverado Senior Living Aspen Park, and Hearts for Hospice for their unfailing loving care and kind concern for Renie over the past several years. Hoopes, Terry Terry Hoopes 1941 ~ 2005 Terry Hoopes, beloved son, father, brother, and friend passed away Sunday, March 20, 2005. Born August 17, 1941 in Laramie, Wyoming to Elaine and Lavere Hoopes. Survived by his mother Elaine, daughter Cynthia, and siblings. He was a fun-loving, hard-working, successful businessman who lived life to its fullest, riding his Harley and driving his huge boat. He fought very bravely with pancreatic cancer and died with dignity. Rather than mourn his death, he wanted us to celebrate his life. He has brought joy to every life he touched. Mike was born on April 24, 1928 in Hiwatha, Utah to Michael Kolovich Sr. and Julia Svilar Kolovich. He married Phyllis Worthen on April 18, 1957 in Price, Utah; marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He is survived by his children, Julia, Karen, Kent (Leslie) Kolovich; granddaughters Maddie and Olivia Kolovich; brother Eli Kolovich and sister Jennie Colosimo. Preceded in death by his wife Phyllis, sisters Mary and Millie, brothers Joe and Jim. Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mike served in the United States Army. Mike was employed by and later retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Mike's passions in life were his family, gardening, nature, supporting the interests of his children and grandchildren. Holly was born June 4, 1986 to Katherine Bytendorp and Craig Bytendorp. Holly was a bubbly, vibrant, young woman who had a zest for life. She was a friend to everyone, never wanting anyone to be left out. Jonathan was born October 2, 1983 to Terry and Nora Leany. Jonathan was a very special child, fun loving and a pillar to both our families. Holly found the love of her life in Jonathan. They were happily married on July 7, 2004. She had the wedding of her dreams and moved to Nebraska to begin her life with Jonathan. They both loved children and children loved them. They were looking forward to building a home in Nebraska and having a family together. Holly is survived by parents; sisters, Jamie, Karrie, Katie; brothers, Troy, Taylor, and Jason who preceded her in death. She was born January 26, 1918 to Earl and Ila Jorgensen Caldwell of Centerfield, Utah. She married DeVere Poulsen and later, Wilford Lowder. McKay, Charles Ray Charles Ray McKay 1932 ~ 2005 SANTAQUIN- Charles Ray McKay, age 72, passed away Monday, March 21, 2005 at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital, Sacramento, CA, where he had been admitted the previous Thursday. He was attended by physicians and nurses and watched over with loving care by his two daughters. Born June 28, 1932 in Santaquin, Utah, he was the son of Charles Albert and LaVon A. Peterson McKay. He worked in his family grocery store where he first learned meat cutting. He was educated in schools there and graduated from Payson Sr. High School in 1950. Nine months later he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. After basic training he was assigned to Mather AFB in Sacramento. In Sacramento, he met his future wife, the former Jeannine Lyman, whom he married June 7, 1952. To this union, four children were born: Deborah Ann, Rebecca Lee, David O., and Michael Jay McKay; later divorced. After his discharge from the Air Force, he spent 35 years working as a meat cutter, the trade he learned from his father. In 1987 he retired from the commissary at McClellan AFB. Three children survive him: Deborah (Scott) Cole, Orangevale, CA; Rebecca (James) Franco, Woodside, CA; David O. McKay, Sacramento, CA; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a brother, Ted A. McKay of Brigham City, Utah. His son, Michael, his parents, two brothers, Richard Glen and David O. McKay preceded him in death. At a future date, his remains will be interred in the Santaquin City Cemetery at which time friends and family will unite to celebrate his life and legacy. Middlesworth, Maurice Allen Maurice Allen Middlesworth 1919 ~ 2005 Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Maurice Middlesworth died at her home on Sunday, March 20, 2005, surrounded by her loved ones. Maurice was born December 24, 1919, in Wallsburg, Utah, to Leone Ford and James Lewis Allen. She married Glenn Stewart Middlesworth on March 27, 1948, in Berkeley, California. They were later divorced. She is survived by two sisters: Helen and Evelyn; and three children: Scott Allen Middlesworth, Holly (Leo) Simeon, and Maurice (Bob) Erickson. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Mindy, Jennifer and Jeremy Middlesworth, Crest, Holly and Andrin Simeon, Bobby, Ryan Heather and Christie Erickson; two great-grand-children: Kaelin and Michael Cummings. We love and miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jim Allen of Wallsburg, Utah. Colleen S. Palmateer 1929 ~ 2005 Colleen Sprecher Palmateer, 75, of Las Vegas, Nevada, died March 20, 2005. She was born June 2, 1929 to Dick and Alida Breinholt Liddiard of Redmond. She married John W. Sprecher, he preceded her in death. She married Robert Andre Palmateer, also survived by one brother and one sister; nieces and nephews. Payne, Sergeant Rocky Dennis Sergeant Rocky Dennis Payne 1978 ~ 2005 HOWELL - Sergeant Rocky Dennis Payne, 26, was killed while serving his country in Iraq on March 16, 2005. He was born on May 19, 1978 in Brigham City, Utah to Dennis William and Percilla Marie Abbott Payne. Rocky was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Howell Ward. He served a stake mission, was a seminary graduate, an Eagle Scout and received his GED. He excelled in playing the piano and played by ear. He was mechanical, especially in auto mechanics and electronics. Rocky loved animals and was drawn to children of all ages. He is known for being a practical joker. Rocky served in the Marine Corps for four and a half years. While in the Marines he served humanitarian missions in Africa, Yemen, Australia, Philippines and was involved in the initial assault on Baghdad. Rocky was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps and then he re-enlisted in the Army and was sent to Iraq in June of 2004. At the time of his death, he was serving with the 497th Transportation Company out of Ft. Lewis, WA supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom in Baghdad, Iraq. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal. Survivors are his parents; four brothers: Randall William (Cindy) of Tremonton, Utah; Rory D. (Lisa) of Sandy, Utah; Ricky Gene (Janalee) and Russell Warren (Marcy) both of Clinton, Utah; one grandmother, Percilla Abbott of Malad; and he was the favorite uncle of four nieces and seven nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Lawrence and Verda Louise Whitaker Payne and Jacob Clifford Abbott. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 25, 2005 at the Garland Tabernacle located at 140 West Factory Street, Garland, Utah at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends may call on Thursday evening, March 24, 2005 starting at 6:00 p.m. and also on Friday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Garland Tabernacle. Pitcher, Lois Hansen Lois Hansen Pitcher 1919 ~ 2005 Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Lois Hansen Pitcher, age 85, passed away March 21, 2005 at her home in Smithfield, Utah, following an extended illness. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends at the time. Lois was born April 13, 1919 in Logan, Utah, to Leland Hyrum and Rozella Green Hansen. She met Darrell Merrill Pitcher in 1938 and soon discovered he was also born April 13, 1919. They dated and fell in loved and decided they should be married in the Logan LDS Temple on April 13, 1939. She and her husband, Darrell, built a service station and auto repair business in Smithfield which they operated until 1984 when Darrell retired. They remained close and loving companions for 57 years until his death in 1996. Lois graduated from Logan High School in 1937 and worked various retail positions until her marriage. She was involved in many civic organizations including Smithfield Civic Club, Smithfield Literary Club and a member of the Logan Golf & Country Club, Bloomington Gold & Country Club and Birch Creek Golf Club. For the last nine years she also served as a Volunteer at Logan Regional Hospital. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings in the Primary and Relief Society organizations. Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, gardening, golf, watching baseball, and basketball but, most of all she was an avid USU and Utah Jazz fan. She is survived by two sons, Jed H. Pitcher and wife MerLynn of Bountiful; D. Clair Pitcher and wife Jeanette of Eugene, Oregon; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brother Bernell Hansen and wife Joy; and sister Donna Richardson all of Logan. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Vera Nielsen and two brothers Melvin and Warren. She will be remembered as a loving and considerate parent, grandparent, and neighbor. Roe, Weston Lawrence Weston Lawrence Roe 1918 ~ 2005 Weston Lawrence Roe, 87, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away March 21, 2005, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 9, 1918 in Stone, Idaho, the son of William Ray and Lola Eliza Pack Roe. Wes, or Lawrence as he was known in his youth, graduated from Bear River High School in Tremonton, Utah. He attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah and then attended the San Francisco Mortuary College in California where he was student body president. While in Logan he met Pauline Poppleton Maughan and they were married on July 21, 1947 in the Logan Temple. Shortly thereafter, Wes and Pauline relocated to San Francisco, California, where they lived while Wes attended college. Wes and Pauline lived in California for 47 years, moving to San Rafael and later Novato in Marin County. Wes was employed at Williams Mortuary and then managed Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael for 30 years. Wes and Pauline have lived in Orem, Utah for the past 10 years. Wes was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission to the Eastern States Mission in upstate New York. He also served in many callings in the church including Bishop of the San Rafael Ward, and Stake President of the Santa Rosa and San Rafael Stakes for 14 years. He was also the Seminary Director for the Santa Rosa Stake for many years and enjoyed working with the youth of the stake. He dedicated his life to helping the church grow and spreading the gospel in California. Wes gardened throughout his life, a hobby that kept him close to his upbringing on the farm in Stone, Idaho. He never failed to produce a bumper crop. Wes and Pauline also enjoyed traveling and sightseeing throughout the United States and Europe with family and friends. They particularly enjoyed visits to many national parks, a trip to New England in the fall, traveling down the coast to Carmel, California and a family road trip through Europe. In recent years the trips have been shorter, but it was not uncommon to find that Wes and Pauline had jumped in the car and were off on a drive. Wes is survived by his wife, Pauline, son Marshall (Carolyn) of Concord, CA, daughter, Eldene Sheide (Greg) of Orem, Utah and his five grandchildren, Daniel Roe serving in the Alabama Birmingham Mission, Peter and Kyle Roe and Alyssa and Brian Sheide. Also surviving are his sisters, Verdeen Larsen (Jim) of Fillmore, Utah, Monette Pratt (Harold) of Syracuse, Utah and sister-in-law Lenna Roe (Russell) of Stone, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his brothers Russell and John and sisters Rayola and Virginia. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday March 26, 2005 at the LDS Chapel at 1075 W. 1100 N. in Orem. A viewing will be held at 10:45 until 11:45 at the ward chapel. Stewart (H. T. "High Tension") Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Homer T. Stewart, passed away March 20, 2005 at his home. He was born May 11, 1915 to Minnie L. Clark and Homer Tilden Stewart Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Helen Fox, brother Bill Stewart and infant son William Wells Stewart. Homer is survived by his wife of 66 years, Laura M. Wells Stewart, his three daughters and their spouses, Kay and Peter Prier, Laura and Jay Monk and Sue and Gregory Capson, their 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was married to Laura M. Wells, Dec. 8, 1938 in Price Utah. He was baptized into the LDS church in 1968 and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1970. He served faithfully in many church callings. He earned an associate degree from Westminster College, and a bachelors and masters degree from the University of Utah. He was employed by the State of Utah as a social worker for 34 years. He served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1945 during World War II. He sang with the Swanee Singer Male Chorus for 66 years. He loved music, literature, art, dancing, travel, his rose garden and most of all his family. Walters, Arleene Hatch Arleene Hatch Walters "Sweetheart" Arleene Hatch Walters, 82, passed away March 21, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born Feb. 12, 1923 in Salt Lake City to Samuel H. and Margaret Price Hatch. Married Ernest Henry McMillan; later divorced. Married Malcolm Leon Walters in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Sept. 3, 1952. She was active in the LDS Church, and held many stake and ward positions. She was an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple and served in the Singapore Mission with her husband. Loved reading, fishing, traveling, and most of all her family. She enjoyed providing compassionate service to others, and had love for everybody. She loved and lived the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Survived by husband, Leon; children, Mary Anne (Lee J.) Brindley, Margaret (Rich) Reuling, Bryan (Melanie B.) Walters, Kevin (Teresa) Walters, Karen (Marc) Olesen, and Craig (Jodi) Walters; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Samuel (Sue) Hatch, and Kendall (Marva) Hatch. Wayne Winther, 70, died March 21, 2005 following a short illness. He was born in Salt Lake City on Jan. 31, 1935 to William O. (Bill) Winther and Genevieve Pugmire Winther. He married Joyce Chipman on June 11, 1954. Joyce was the most loving, thoughtful, and caring person in his life. She passed away September 19, 2001. Wayne served two years in Germany with the U.S. Army. He retired from ABF Freight Lines after 24 years. Wayne enjoyed the outdoors and traveling with Joyce in their fifth wheel trailer. He also enjoyed camping with relatives, trips to Wendover and playing pool with his friends. He is survived by his mother, brother, Thomas W. Winther (Colleen), sister, Shauna Starkweather (William) and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by wife, Joyce, and father, Bill.
