Dawn was born March 3, 1916, in Logan, Utah, to Clarence Duffin and Jennie Barlow Duffin. She married John Woodville Beardall on June 19, 1935, in the Salt Lake Temple. He passed away June 8, 1997. Dawn spent a lifetime serving others. She was a homemaker, a librarian at the Scera Park Elementary School in Orem for 16 years, and taught piano lessons for over 25 years. She was active in the LDS Church; even up to the end, doing extraction work in her home and serving as a visiting teacher supervisor. She taught in Primary, Mutual and Relief Society and also served as Primary and Relief Society President. She was also a ward librarian for eight years. She belonged to the Alethian Club in Salt Lake City and Paideia Sorosis in the Provo-Orem area. Her hobbies were genealogy, reading, and making quilts and afghans. She is survived by her children, W. Lee Beardall, Carol (Jerry) Billings, Bonnie Wright, and William C. (Sheryl) Beardall, 18 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, with one more expected soon. She is also survived by brothers and sisters, Allese (Paul) Vestigo, C. Harlow (Marjorie) Duffin, B. Keith Duffin, G. Richard (Betty) Duffin, and Sharol (Grant) Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband Woodie, son David, parents, Clarence and Jennie Duffin, brother, Robert B. Duffin, two grandsons, Jeffrey Brey and Mark Brey, one great-granddaughter, Vanessa Wright and sister-in-law, Ruth Duffin. Special thanks is extended to her friends and neighbors in Orem, Maria Moon for loving home care over the years, and the caring staff at Care Source of Salt Lake City in her final days. Bessinger, Max Max Bessinger 1943 ~ 2005 KAYVILLE, UTAH - Max Bessinger, 61, a great man passed away due to a heart attack on a beautiful Sunday morning, May 1, 2005. Max was born December 16, 1943 in Tremonton, Utah. He was the son of the late Albert Bessinger, Jr. and Faye Beth Holland Bessinger. Max married Mary Susan Barlow of Clearfield, Utah on December 4, 1968 in the Salt Lake Temple. He attended Bear River High School and graduated from Utah State University in 1971 with his MBA. He served a LDS mission to London England from 1962 to 1964. He spent a year at Fort Dix, New Jersey before he served in Vietnam during 1970 and 1971. Max was an active member of the LDS church and served faithfully in his church positions. He loved to hunt, fish, and play sports. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Bray, Jean Louise Jean Louise Bray 1925 ~ 2005 Jean Louise Bray passed away Sunday, May 1, 2005. She was born June 27, 1925 in Montour County, Pennsylvania. She is preceded in death by her husband James E. Bray, and her father and mother, Donald and Esther Montgomery. She is survived by her son James (Barbara) Bray, her daughter Sarah (Dale) Barker, her two grandchildren Kate (Jared) Platt and Brian Barker, her brother Richard Montgomery, sister-in-law Mildred Hutchison, niece Diane Hutchison, and nephews David (Lisa) Montgomery, Michael (Cheri) Hutchison, and Brandt (Janice) Hutchison. Jean was blessed in being able to watch her two grandchildren grow to become young adults. Home and family were the cornerstones of her life. She enjoyed bowling and playing pinochle with her friends. Gardening was her passion. Buckmiller, Kenneth Grant Kenneth Grant Buckmiller 1956 ~ 2005 Following a sudden accident on Sat., April 30, 2005, Kenneth Grant Buckmiller completed his valiant mission here on earth. Ken was born September 30, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Richard Grant Buckmiller and Christel Doris Noss. He graduated from South High School and served an LDS Mission in Louisville, KY. Upon returning he fell in love with Jill Elaine Adamson. They were married August 23, 1978 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1985 in Physical Therapy and after working for IHC he started his own clinic, Northern Physical Therapy Services. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in many callings including his service as Bishop and on High Council. He was an avid Utah fan and loved cycling, but his greatest joy was his family. He left a divine legacy and will be deeply missed by his adored wife of 26 years, Jill Adamson Buckmiller; his children, Jacob (Regina) Buckmiller, Kristen (Ryan) Healey, and Erik Buckmiller; his brother, Ron (Lisa) Buckmiller; his sister, Sarah (Peter) Torres; his father, Robert Sandberg, his grandchildren, Samuel Buckmiller, Brigham Healey, and Grant Buckmiller, and numerous family members and friends. Born April 27, 1928, daughter of Clarence Clark and Erma Nielson Clark. She lovingly raised three children, Kathryn Burdette, Wheeler Oregon; Debra Burdette Clark, Heber, UT; Douglas E. Burdette, Salt Lake City. She is survived by her husband, their three children, one son-in-law, Tim Clark, one daughter-in-law, Keli Burdette and five grandchildren. Her life was in total conformity with the standards of the Latter-day Saints Church which she embraced with unequivocal conviction, sharing her knowledge and spirituality in the rearing of her children, and with all those dear friends she loved. She married Douglas E. Burdette on May 28, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple which extends beyond this life into the eternities. Boundless blessings were given to her throughout her life and now her sweet soul is allowed expansion in the Heavenly realms. Josh loved sports and was a huge Yankees fan. He was "born with a ball in his hands". He had a keen sense of humor and an infectious laugh. He was always trying to make others happy. She was born on October 15, 1935 to Winifred Tetley and George Waite in Los Angeles, California. Phyllis was raised and lived in southern California until she moved to Bountiful, Utah with her family in 1968. In 1995 she moved to St. George, Utah and resided there until she returned to northern Utah and settled in Syracuse in 2002. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Keith Joseph Davis; children Carrie Hall, John (Michelle) Hall, Scott (Jane) Hall, Kelley (Kathy) Hall, and Chad (Jennifer) Davis; step-children Keith (Cheryl) Davis, David Davis, Steven Davis, John (Sue) Davis, James (Celia) Davis, Alan Davis, Gary (Wendy) Davis, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Gladys Overson; and niece Connie Powell. Forsyth, Richard Clyde Richard Clyde Forsyth "Together Forever" Richard Clyde Forsyth passed away May 3, 2005 at the place he loved the most, home, surrounded by his children who loved and cherished him and into the arms of his beloved sweetheart, RoDene, who preceded him in death March 16, 2005. Born February 11, 1924 in Price, Utah, the ninth child of John Andrew and Elsie Clyde Forsyth. He graduated from Carbon High School where he was chosen as the "most preferred man" and has kept that prestigious title in his own family ever since! He then joined the Marine Corps and served his country for three years where he developed a fondness for M&M's! He loved his country and the flag! At BYU he met his eternal sweetheart, RoDene Marie Farrer and they were married September 17, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised six children, served two missions: London, England and Temple Square, and also served for over 40 years in the Salt Lake and Jordan River Temples. Dad was employed with Utah Boy's Ranch for over 20 years where he served as the Executive Director. He worked with hundreds of boys teaching and loving them. Throughout his life dad received the blessings, callings and joys from his membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Integrity, hard work, honesty were his trademarks. A man of many talents, he enjoyed the outdoors, nature, fishing in Hanna, his woodwork shop, reading, and was thankful for the little things in life. We love you, Dad and Mom, and though our hearts are heavy we know we will be together forever. Survived by his children: Andy (Peggy), Ron (Julie), Nanette (Jon) Sorensen, Dixie (Marshall) Meier, Scott (Kelley) and Minnie (Kimber) Hall; 22 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters. Griffin, Anita Alice Anita Alice Griffin 1935 ~ 2005 Anita Alice Griffin, age 69, died in Salt Lake City, UT April 30, 2005 of natural causes. She was born August 7, 1935 in Salt Lake City. UT to Robert William Griffin and Isabel Knoblauch Griffin, She graduated from Judge Memorial High School in 1953 and from the University of Utah in 1957, majoring in Elementary Education. She taught school in Utah and California, and then traveled the world for the United States Department of Defense, teaching children of military personnel in England, Germany, Okinawa, Philippine Islands and Panama. Through the years, Anita spoke of her students as "her children". She was a kind and generous woman, always keenly interested in her nieces and nephews and especially appreciated the companionship of her niece Mary Mingo. Anita will be remembered and missed by her brother Richard K. (Jacquelin) Griffin, Cedar City, UT and her sister Imogene (Harry) Mingo, Salt Lake City, a sister in law Wendy Griffm of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, plus many affectionate nieces and nephews. Anita was preceded in death by her parents and an older brother Robert W. Hatch, Robert John Robert John Hatch 10/2/66 ~ 5/2/05 Robert John Hatch, age 38, passed away Monday, May 2, at his home after a valiant and courageous fight with cancer. Robert was born October 2, 1966, in Salt Lake City. He is the son of Kendall and Marva Hatch. He attended Olympus High School and was an all-state football player, later going on to play at the University of Utah. In 1986, Robert married his soul mate, Andrea vom Dorp, and together they produced three miracles, Casey (18), Alexi (15), and Mitchell (12). Robert loved his family first and foremost. He mentored them, shared his life lessons, coached little league teams, never missed a game, and cheered for them all the way. He was also a great athlete and outdoorsman. He loved fishing and golfing and spent countless hours with his children on the Green River. He will be greatly missed by all of those whose life he touched. Robert is survived by his loving wife, his adoring children, his parents, his brother, Mark (Teresa), sister, Allison Nielsen (Tod), and brother, Michael (Melissa), three nieces and three nephews, a large and loving extended family, and his dog, Sage. Henstrom, Martha Carolyn Adams Martha Carolyn Adams Henstrom 1937 ~ 2005 Martha Carolyn Adams Henstrom, 67, passed away peacefully after a struggle with cancer on May 2, 2005, at her home in Provo, UT. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she will be sorely missed by those left behind. Born on Dec. 22, 1937, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Paul Monroe and Louise Cruikshank Adams. She began a life that would bless everyone she knew. She spent her early years in Delta, UT. returning to Montpelier when she was 12. Martha graduated from Montpelier High School, 1955, and then from Brigham Young University with a B.A. in 1959 and M.A. in 1962, in Drama/Speech and a minor in English. She was active in plays, several BYU movies, and voice recordings for radio, TV, and books. Martha won the Best Actress award for two years at BYU. She married Richard Henry Henstrom on June 17th, 1960, in the Salt Lake Temple. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she blessed children, young women, women and others with her leadership assignments. Martha and her husband recently served a full time mission at the Provo MTC. She served diligently in many other callings. Martha was a former President of BYU Women on two occasions and PTA president a number of times in local schools. She was a renaissance woman gifted in acting, singing, sewing, quilting, crafts, teaching and many other areas. Martha's music gifts were a blessing to both children and adults. Her quick wit always brought a smile. She served others constantly in a home that was open to all. Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Richard H. Hurdsman, Darlene Ruth Darlene Ruth Hurdsman (Abramowski) Our beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, auntie, and friend passed from the loving arms of her husband into those of her Savior April 30, 2005. Darlene Ruth Abramowski Hurdsman, 61, endured many years with numerous illnesses. She is finally relieved of all her pain and suffering. She loved her family with all her heart. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family and grandchildren. She was a very compassionate person, often giving all that she had before thinking of herself. She was born on May 28, 1943, in Southgate, CA, to Kurt Emil and Wilhelmina Giesewski Abramowski. Little sister to Sigrid (Ward) Davis, Rodney (Marci) Abramowski, and Rita (Robert) Walgren. Married Joseph Earl Hurdsman on January 26, 1968, in the St. George LDS temple. Loving mother to five children: Kristin, Jennifer (Shane), Julie (Brian), Kurt (Angie), and Kevin (Jodi). Proud nana to seven grandsons and two granddaughters. Auntie to many nieces and nephews. Friend to all. Preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law JoAnne Abramowski. Darlene was an active member of the LDS Church, having served over 22 years in the Primary and also served as Relief Society President. She was an excellent teacher whose lessons will be long remembered. She had a strong testimony and a mountain of faith. She felt her greatest and most important accomplishment in life was that all five of her children had been through the temple and are active in church. We wish to thank the family of Brooke Graviet for their generous donation of their daughter's liver so our mother could be with us an additional seven years. We'd also like to thank the staff at the LDS Hospital Transplant Clinic for helping keep her alive so long. Jacobs, Clinton Clinton Jacobs "Dr. of Philosophy" Clinton was born Dec. 20, 1923 and he died May 1, 2005 at 9:20 p.m. and moved into Our Father's Celestial Kingdom. Clint was the son of Ivan E. Jacob and Ruby Shields Jacob. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Velma Park Jacobs; a brother, Forrest Jacob (Phyllis); and 25 nieces and nephews. He had another brother who he loved with all his heart, sole and mind-his name is Jesus. Clint was a lifetime student. He attended BYU in his younger years and had a Ph.D. in Philosophy, a master degree in Science, and a bachelor degree in Russian, all from the University of Utah. Clint and Velma served an LDS mission to Nauvoo, Illinois in 1989. They owned and operated Velma Clinton's Beauty Salon on 2nd South next to the Old Capital Theatre for several years. They also owned and operated a 32-unit Best Western Motel for several years in Green River, WY; Clint taught school for a few years at East High School in Salt Lake City. He also taught at a junior college in Rock Springs, WY; Clint will be sorrowfully missed by his many friends. Clint and Velma were members of the Little Cottonwood 16th Ward, 6350 S. Jensen "Nana" Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Bernice Burton Jensen, age 88, passed away May 1, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born in Clear Creek, Utah on March 7, 1917 to Otto F. Burton and Mary Evelyn Thorpe. She married M. Duane Jensen on June 15, 1938. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They enjoyed 65 wonderful years together before his passing in June of 2003. She often reminisced about her happy childhood and her love of tap, ballet and acrobatics. She could even be found turning cartwheels well into her "senior years". She loved to use her mind and keep busy. In early years, she worked as an elementary school secretary and then as a sales clerk for Keith O'Brien. Then she took on the roll as Vice president of Laundry Supply Company where she worked along side her husband. She took great pride in the successful business they owned and operated. They also loved camping, fishing and traveling. In later years they enjoyed spending winters in San Diego. They cherished the many friendships they made on these outings. Family times were very important to Bernice. Backyard barbeques, swimming parties and holiday dinners were always special occasions at her home. These times together have provided many great memories for her family. "Thank you Grandma and we love you." She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Joe T. Burton and daughters Gayle Jensen Reaveley and Kathleen Jensen Paull. Survived by her son Robert D. Knight 1915 ~ 2005 Our beloved mother, Gale Stewart Knight returned to her heavenly home on Sunday May 1, 2005. She was born January 18, 1915 in Logan, Utah to Mabel Richards and Willie Helaman Stewart. She married Richard Knight on July 2, 1935 in the Salt Lake Temple. As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many callings, including service as a full time missionary and as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple. Her beautiful voice was appreciated by all who heard her sing. She was a gifted and much loved teacher in the church and in the salt Lake School District where she taught for many years. She found much joy in the beauties of nature and her greatest delight was children. Respected and loved by all who knew her and cherished by her family, she made our world a better place. In a difficult world, she taught by example that forgiveness and unconditional love bring peace. She is survived by nine children: Richard S. (Ruth), Stan (Esther), Boyd (Kathy), Paul, Jennie Wightman, Laura Ulrich (Mark), Kathy Tadje (John), John (Sandy), Dixie Schiffman (Chris); 53 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren: siblings: Boyd and Lynn (Laura) Stewart, June Spackman. Anderson Riding "Have Bags... Will Travel" Leona Whiting Anderson Riding, our sweet loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away May 1, 2005 at the Delta Community Medical Center with her family at her side. Leona was born May 2, 1925 in Mapleton, UT to Randall Austin and Mary Lillian Rowley Whiting. She grew up in Garrison, UT. Attended Hinckley High School and graduated from Davis High School in Ogden. She married Clarence Dean Anderson, March 10, 1945. Marriage later solemnized in the Manti Temple. He died July 4, 1970. Married Robert Hale "Bob" Riding, March 14, 1974. He died June 4, 2002. She had a job as a clerk at Hill Air Force Base during World War II. She worked as a telephone operator in Delta for 20 years, in the days of "number please". She also worked as secretary for Dutson Supply Co. retiring in 1997. Mom was very involved civically: Current President of American Legion Auxiliary and local chapter of D.U.P. Also serving on the West Millard Senior Citizen board, and was a member of "Literary Guild", "Red Hat Society" and her beloved "Monday Night Home Evening Group". She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving faithfully in many positions including Stake Relief Society Secretary and at present, Ward Librarian. Mom loved the Gospel and had a deep and abiding testimony, and was truly an example of Gospel living to her family and friends. A few of her favorite things were reading, traveling, embroidering, sunsets, code breaks with friends, and watching her grandchildren play ball. She was an avid supporter of her children and grandchildren in all of their activities. She was loved by all and felt so blessed to have her friends and family gather on Saturday to help her celebrate her 80th Birthday. We love you Mom! We are so grateful that you were our mother. We will miss you. Sorenson, Von Von Sorenson 1933 ~ 2005 CEDAR FORT - Von Wilson Sorenson, age 71 of Cedar Fort, Utah, died May 2, 2005 at the Utah Valley Hospital of natural causes. He was born June 4, 1933 in Lehi, Utah, son of Ellis (Bud) and Anna Wilma Whitman Sorenson. Married Karleen Flygare Sept. 25, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died Jan. 23, 1998. Von served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Public Works department for Lehi City Corp. and later as a supervisor over the petroleum division at Tooele Army Depot. He raised his family in Lehi and moved to Cedar Fort in 1978. He loved horses, rodeos, and dearly loved his grandchildren. Survived by four sons, Ken Sorenson, Stansbury; Casey Sorenson, Tooele; Clay (Julie) Sorenson, Cedar Fort; Shawn (Jessica) Sorenson, Ibapah, UT; 13 grandchildren; sister, Kathryn (Jerry) Cook, Lehi. She was born November 9, 1914 to Silas Sheldon and Jane May Stokes Bonham in Clinton, UT. She married John Daniel Stark on Feb. 23, 1937 in Logan, UT. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on February 21, 1938. John passed away on June 16, 1993. She graduated from Davis High School and Utah State University. Mildred was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and John served a mission in Nauvoo, IL and served in the Ogden Temple for over 13 years, as well as many other callings. She was an educator for 24 years. She is survived by her children, John Conway (Mary) Stark, Kay W. Stark, David B. (Ellen) Stark and Kathryn (David) Degener. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren; her brother and sister, Myron Dell (Lucille) Bonham and Velma Nelson. Steadman 1950 ~ 2005 Dennis D. Steadman left this life for a far better one on April 30, 2005. He is now rejoicing with his Savior and loved ones, free from the pain and burdens he bore so bravely while here on earth. Born May 18, 1950 to LeRoy and Gladys Steadman in Murray, Utah, and raised in Midvale, Utah. Dennis graduated from Hillcrest High School and later went on to serve in many positions with Salt Lake County Fire Department. He loved his career and felt blessed to have been so fortunate to serve in this capacity. He was given many health challenges in his life and learned some valuable lessons from them, most importantly, not to take anything for granted. Dennis was a friend to all. He knew how to love unconditionally. Dennis was a very big man in every sense of the word. He loved to serve and he loved the Lord. Dennis married Judy Davies in 1971, later divorced. Married to his best friend and soul mate, Holly J. Powell on Aug. 28, 1999. During their short time together, they traveled many places and had enough wonderful memories to last a lifetime. They truly loved each other and it was apparent to anyone who ever saw them together. Dennis is survived by his beloved wife, Holly; children, Kevin, Andrea (Adam) Adair, Daniel (Jennifer), and Jessica (Rick); brothers, Glenn (Colleen), Jay, and Dave (Sheila); as well as 12 grandchildren whom he adored, and special nephews and nieces. Stephens, Marian Baird Ballard Marian Baird Ballard Stephens 1927 ~ 2005 Our beautiful mother left us May 2nd, after sinking into the depths of Alzheimer's. We began to miss mom several years ago, and it was hard losing her friendship and recognition, but she always let us know through her brilliant smile and her shining eyes how much she loved us. After graduating from South High, Mom married our dad Don Ballard after World War II ended. They divorced 18 years later. She married Steve Stephens, and they divorced after 13 years. Later, she was fortunate to find Jesse Carter, an old high school friend who became the love of her life 45 years later. She was an ace at the comptometer, and she used to dazzle those she worked with her amazing speed at adding numbers. She worked at Mountain Bell, Penny's, Williamson's Truck Equipment, and Utah Power. Mom was a vivacious, laughing, kind, caring, hard working, and supportive person. She was a member of the LDS Church. She loved decorating her home, redoing each room at least four times. She also loved organizing containers, As the World Turns, dolls, ice cream, golf, pets, knitting, high-heeled shoes, dancing, and music - which she played loud! She had every Frank Sinatra Song ever recorded. Although we have had seven years to prepare for this day, it breaks our heart to lose her. She is survived by her children Brad (Michelle), and Nancy (Brent); grandchildren Jessie, Jordin, and River; sister Sharen (Reuben) Lambert, several nieces and nephews, and Jesse Carter. Preceded in death by parents, Floyd and Mildred Baird, sisters Ida Strong and Dorothy Jacketta and niece Kaylynn. Thanks to wonderful Silverado Care Center for all their kindness. Stribakos, Nicholas George Nicholas George Stribakos "Beloved Son, Brother" Nick Stribakos passed away on April 30, 2005. Born January 8, 1981 to Gus and Kathy Stribakos in Salt Lake City. Nick's death will leave a void in every life he touched. He was as kind and generous a spirit as ever walked this earth. Nick graduated from Valley High School in 1999 and was working in shipping/receiving at the time of his death. His interests included skiing, bowling, billiards and a passion for music and songwriting. He had a large circle of friends and an abiding love for his longtime companion Ashly Rich. Nick was preceded in death by his grandfathers, George Stribakos and Ladislaus Zrebski. He is survived by grandmothers Virginia Stribakos and Virginia Zrebski, parents Gus and Kathy, brother and sister Conrad and Amy, many aunts, uncles and cousins. Swenson, age 78, was called home after a courageous battle with renal cancer on April 30, 2005. He was born June 10, 1926 in Salt Lake City to August LaVern and EreBelle Vance Swenson. Served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He then married his sweetheart, Maurine Woodruff, November 4, 1949. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they enjoyed 55 wonderful years of marriage. As a member of the LDS Church, he served in many callings-his favorite being home teaching. He enjoyed a career in catalog design and retail apparel sales where he coined the phrase "Fit isn't everything". Ken's passion for pigeon racing spanned over 60 years. His birds won many awards including his 1973 AU Hall of Fame winner "304". His family will miss his tenderness and love, his wit and humor will be missed by all. Preceded in death by his two sons, Randy and Paul; parents; two brothers; and one sister. Thurston, Barbara Ashcroft Barbara Ashcroft Thurston 1916 ~ 2005 Barbara Ashcroft Thurston passed away on April 29, 2005 in Ventura, California, of pulmonary fibrosis. She was born in Hyde Park, Utah, on December 10, 1916, the daughter of Charles Leland and Sarah Wanda (Reese) Ashcroft. Barbara was valedictorian of her graduating class at North Cache High School and went on to obtain a BS degree from Utah State Agricultural College in 1938. After several years as a secondary school teacher, Barbara was married on July 8, 1941, in the Logan LDS Temple, to Morris Alma Thurston, who had just graduated from Utah State as a civil engineer. Throughout her life, Barbara was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as president of the Ventura Third Ward Relief Society, teacher of many different church classes, and organist. In 1981-82 she and Morris served as missionaries for the Church in Arkansas. For the last 22 years they have been volunteer workers in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Barbara is survived by her husband of 63 years, Morris Alma Thurston of Ventura; her brother, Vern L. Ashcroft of North Logan; her six children, Morris Ashcroft Thurston of Villa Park, CA; Mary Kaye Gardner of Tempe, AZ; Bonnie Holm of Chandler, AZ; Carolyn Selden of Woodbury MN; Wanda Ostler of Fremont, CA and Cheryl Reeder of Westminster, CO; as well as 28 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Barbara's funeral service will be held on Thurs., May 5, 2005, in Ventura. A memorial service will also be held on Sat., May 7, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at the Allen-Cranney Mortuary, 420 East 1800 North, Logan. She will be buried in the Hyde Park Cemetery.
