Atkinson, Vaudis Hanson
Vaudis Hanson Atkinson 1920 ~ 2005 Our loving mother, grandmother, sister and
friend, Vaudis Hanson Atkinson, age 85, passed away May 4, 2005 to be reunited
with her husband, Bernie. Born February 6, 1920 in Brigham City, Utah,
daughter of Harmon and Almina Marie Sorensen Hanson. She married Bernerd
Atkinson November 3, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in
death in February 22, 1989. Mom was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who
enjoyed crafts, reading, the outdoors, playing card games and was an avid U of
U fan. She was a valiant member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, serving in various callings; most recently as Primary President at the
age of 80. Mom is survived by her five sons: Ross (Linda), Boyd (Patti
Hardwick), Marc (Sheryl), Scott (Donna), and Todd (Nancy); 27 grandchildren;
21 great-grandchildren; siblings: Glen H. (Beth) Hanson, Verona "Toni"
Fairbanks and Dennis (Janice) Hanson. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Bernie; and siblings, Ione, Elon, LaRue and Fonda. Special thanks to
the staff at the Golden Living Center as well as Heritage Bennion Care Center
for the tender care they showed our mother. Funeral services will be held
Saturday, 12 noon, at the Gregson Ward, 3153 South 900 East. Family and
friends may visit Friday, 6 - 8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South
Redwood Road, and Saturday at the church, 10:45 - 11:45 a.m. Interment, Larkin
Sunset Gardens.

Bellon, Carol Marie
Carol Marie Bellon "Grandma B" Our beloved mother, grandmother, daughter,
sister, aunt and friend, Carol Marie Tunbridge Bellon, 60, suddenly returned
home to Heavenly Father on May 3, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born July 30,
1944 in Sacramento, Calif. to Dean F. and Anita L. Fehlberg Tunbridge. Married
Jerald D. Bellon in 1962; later divorced. Mom always took care of everyone.
She was active in the LDS Church and served in many callings. She had many
accomplishments in her career. Employed by Cameron & Co., Q-Lube, and Nova
Source. She was well respected and loved by all. She will be greatly missed by
all who knew and loved her. Survived by children, Vincent (Debbie) Bellon,
Monique (Bruce) Rowley, Tiffany (Gary) Thomson, and Danielle (Keith) Owens;
father, Dean; 18 grandchildren; two great-grand-children; sisters and
brothers, Sharon (Lynn) Pohlman, Pauline (Tad) Pope, Marci (Scott) Steffensen,
David (Phyllis) Tunbridge, Alan (Ida) Tunbridge, Niel Tunbridge, Dawn Marie
(James) Wood, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by mother,
Anita; and two brothers, Bruce and Gary. Funeral services will be held Monday,
May 9, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Draper 7th Ward Chapel, 600 East 12300 South.
Friends may call Sunday 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, and Monday
9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.

Bentel, Richard George
Richard George Bentel 1918 ~ 2005 Richard, "Dick", Bentel passed away on May
2, 2005. He was born on January 14, 1918 in Beaver, Pennsylvania, the only
child of John Bentel and Edna Heinemann Bentel. On August 2, 1940, he married
Virginia Owen Portman from Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. They had three
children, Donald, Sheri and Robert. During the World War II, he worked for the
Curtis Wright Corporation manufacturing aircraft parts for the war effort. In
1976, he realized one of his greatest honors, receiving a 33rd degree from the
Scottish Rite of Free Masonry. Richard and Virginia moved to Sandy, Utah in
1983. They joined St. James Episcopal Church, and Richard served the church in
several capacities. He volunteered many hours to Alta View Hospital. He was an
avid golfer, and during months that were too cold to enjoy the camaraderie of
his golfing friends, he joined a bowling league. Richard is survived by his
wife, Virginia, of 65 years, his three children, Donald Bentel, Sheri Bentel
Guiver (Dennis) and Robert Bentel, five grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren. He lived a long and fulfilling life beloved by his family
and many friends. And though he is missed more than words can express, we
believe he is now in the embrace of his Holy Father. Services for Richard will
he held at St. James Episcopal Church, Midvale, Utah on Saturday, May 7 at
11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made
to St. James Episcopal Church.

Bitner, Keith Olson
Keith Olson Bitner 1924 ~ 2005 Keith Olson Bitner, age 80, passed away
peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, May 3, 2005. Keith was a loving husband,
father, grandfather, and brother, who will be missed greatly by all who knew
him. A graduate of South High School Class of 1941. Keith went on to work for
the Salt Lake City Engineering Department for 34 wonderful years. Keith
married Erma Joan Bollwinkel on August 26, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. Keith
is the father of three children: Joy Becky (Ray), Kerry Bitner (Bethany), and
Paul Bitner (Erin). Grandfather to eight grandchildren: Matthew, Meghan,
Kayla, Kyle, Steven, Alexis, Ryan, and Rachael. Survived by brothers: Blaine,
Vaughn, Willis, and Leland. Preceded in death by father Milton Bitner, mother
Edith Bitner, and sister Joyce Carter. Funeral services will be held Fri., May
6, 2005 at Grant Stake Ward house, 12:00 noon, 3153 S. 900 E., where friends
and family may call one hour prior to the service. Interment, Wasatch Lawn
Memorial Park. Our thanks to Frankie, Freddy, and all those at Rocky Mountain
Hospice for the loving care and attention that they gave grandpa. We love you
Dad.

Brooks, Afton Smith
Afton Smith Brooks 1908 ~ 2005 PAYSON, UT- Afton died 4 May 2005, in Payson,
Utah. She was born 20 February 1908 in Kamas, Utah, the oldest child of Bert
L. and Lyla Lambert Smith. She spent the first years of her life in Roosevelt,
Utah. The family then moved to Draper where she attended Draper Park School
and graduated from Jordan High School. She went to Henager's Business College
following high school. She worked at various positions prior to her marriage
to Victor E. Brooks in 1944 Vic retired from Mountain Fuel Supply Company, and
they spent the early retirement years traveling in their Airstream trailer in
Canada, Europe, Mexico, and the USA. Besides living a long life, her greatest
joy was associating with her large and loving family including her son Edward
J. Brooks and his family. She is survived by an aunt Venice L. Adams,
Vancouver, WA; sister-in-law Irene (Howard L.) Smith, St. George, UT;
daughter-in-law Nancy B. Brooks, San Jose, CA; granddaughters Karen (Greg)
Garr, Rochester Hills, MI; Betsy (Lou) DiBona, Pebble Beach, CA; grandson,
Richard (Mary) Brooks, San Jose, CA; four great-grandchildren: Emily and
Kristin Garr and Sarah and James Brooks, 17 beloved nieces and nephews who
greatly enriched her life. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, and
sisters, Isabelle Smith, Louise S. Jones, Beverly S. Williams, Norma S.
Barton, brothers Howard L. and Dan L. Smith. A memorial service will be held
Friday, May 6, 2005, at the Larkin Mortuary located at 260 E. South Temple, at
12:00 p.m. Family viewing will be from 11:00-11:45 a.m. Interment, Salt Lake
City Cemetery.

Buckmiller, Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant Buckmiller 1956 ~ 2005 Following a sudden accident on Sat.,
April 30, 2005, Kenneth Grant Buckmiller completed his valiant mission here on
earth. Ken was born September 30, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Richard
Grant Buckmiller and Christel Doris Noss. He graduated from South High School
and served an LDS Mission in Louisville, KY. Upon returning he fell in love
with Jill Elaine Adamson. They were married August 23, 1978 in the Salt Lake
LDS Temple. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1985 in Physical
Therapy and after working for IHC he started his own clinic, Northern Physical
Therapy Services. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in many callings including his service
as Bishop and on High Council. He was an avid Utah fan and loved cycling, but
his greatest joy was his family. He left a divine legacy and will be deeply
missed by his adored wife of 26 years, Jill Adamson Buckmiller; his children,
Jacob (Regina) Buckmiller, Kristen (Ryan) Healey, and Erik Buckmiller; his
brother, Ron (Lisa) Buckmiller; his sister, Sarah (Peter) Torres; his father,
Robert Sandberg, his grandchildren, Samuel Buckmiller, Brigham Healey, and
Grant Buckmiller, and numerous family members and friends. Funeral services
will be held Saturday, May 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kaysville Haight
Creek Stake Center, 1520 South Freepointe Drive, Kaysville, Utah. Friends may
call Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful
Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Saturday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the

Butler, Kathy Ann
Kathy Ann Butler April 15, 1967 "Butterflies are free to fly" Kathy Ann
Butler, adored mother and respected friend passed away 02 May 2005, from
complications of Mar fan's Syndrome. Despite difficulties Kathy faced
throughout her life, she never complained. She began each morning with a
soft-spoken "Thank You," as she knew it was a gift. It was this gratitude,
coupled with her unconditional love and acceptance of others that enabled her
heart to beat years beyond expectancy. Kathy was selfless! She found great joy
in caring for those that she loved. Her greatest source of joy was to spend
just "one more day" with her two boys. Kathy lived her life with dignity. She
faced opposition in every form, yet gathered great wisdom with each new
battle. Through these many trials, her refreshing quality of genuine innocence
was graciously spared. Kathy will be remembered as strong, brave, and
beautifully forgiving. Kathy leaves behind her most cherished children, Sean J
Britton and Patrick T. Butler, and may now join her beloved baby daughter
Taylor, who preceded her in death. Kathy will be remembered by, Leonard Steel,
her dear friend and Vivian Shannon, aunt. A special "Thank You" to those who
offered love, assistance and support to Sean and Patrick during this difficult
time. Funeral Services to be held at the LDS Chapel 9000 S. 1925 W. Mon, May

Carrigan, Betty
Betty Carrigan 1918 ~ 2005 Margaret Elizabeth (Betty) McMullin Carrigan, 87,
passed away on May 4, 2005 at her home in Midvale, UT. She was born on March
29, 1918 in Midvale to LeRoy McMullin and Anna Margaret Lehman. After
graduating from Jordan High School and LDS Business School, Betty worked for
New York Life Insurance until marrying Leslie Rawle Carrigan on June 12, 1939
in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Throughout her years, Betty filled her life with
joy and service including 13 years teaching 4H. She also served as Primary
President, MIA President, Relief Society President, on stake boards of Relief
Society and Ward Organist and Music Coordinator. After serving a mission with
Leslie in Rochester, New York in 1982-83, she served for many years in the
Jordan River Temple and the Church History Museum; serving in the temple was a
particular joy in her life. Betty is survived by daughters: Pat Hancox
(Maitland), Joan Smith (Lee), Claudia Davis (Hugh), Coleen Driskill, Susan
Holt (Rick), and Leslikae Thomas (Greg); 27 grandchildren, and 33
great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband; and her brother, Robert
L. McMullin. Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 1 p.m. in the Midvale
1st Ward Chapel, 305 W. 7500 S. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S.
State on Friday 6-8 p.m. and Saturday at the church one hour prior to
services. Burial at Larkin Sunset Gardens.

Coffey, David O.
David O. Coffey "Doc" MAGNA - David Orr Coffey "Doc" passed away at home May
4, 2005. "I was born September 2, 1930. I have had 74 good years and one
really crappy year. I graduated from the University of Garfield. The rest of
the time I was chasing down a dark haired beauty, Jane Hardman that I finally
caught. She gave me 55 wonderful years and two beautiful daughters, Karen
(Tom) Coon and Karma (John) Parlett. I also have three wonderful grandsons,
Chad (Julie) Coon, Cody (Melissa) Coon, and Jake (Becky) Parlett; and one
super great-granddaughter, Makenzie Coon, who will make us all proud; not just
Magna but the whole country." Doc is also survived by his brother and sisters,
Jim (Coral) Coffey, Roberta (Lester) Brooks, and Mary Gaithwaite. The family
would like to thank Uncle Frank, Jolene, Nathan, and all of the many friends
who showed their love and support. Dave was a longtime resident of Magna. He
served in the US Army, and retired from the Magna Post Office after 30 years
of service. He graduated from Cyprus High School where he excelled in all
sports, especially basketball. Dave was an avid golfer and a "Master" bridge
player. He also enjoyed spending his time at the Magna Senior Citizens Center,
volunteering in a variety of ways including serving the seniors in tax
preparation as an AARP tax consultant. Graveside services will be held 12 noon
Saturday, May 7, 2005 at the Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South.

has requested that any donations be made to his two favorite places, the Magna

Connell Sr., Stephen C.
Stephen C. Connell, Sr. 1940 ~ 2005 Stephen C. Connell, Sr., age 64, passed
away May 3, 2005 in West Valley City, Utah. Steve was born May 23, 1940 in
Topeka, Kansas to Thomasine and Frank Connell. He graduated from Lawrence High
School. Steve married Judy Reinwald in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a member
of the Baptist Church. Steve loved the outdoors since he was a child. He was a
kind, compassionate, gentle man. He was a friend to everyone who knew him.
Steve was greatly loved, and will be greatly missed by everyone who loved him.
Steve is survived by his mother, Thomasine Connell; sister, Linda Kay Pringle;
son, Stephen C. (Barbara) Connell Jr.; grandchildren, Jacob and Thomas. He is
preceded in death by his father, Frank C. Connell. Memorial Services will be
held Saturday, May 7, 2005 at 12:00 noon at Valley View Funeral Home Chapel,
4335 West 4100 South. Entombment: Valley View Mausoleum.

Cooper, Galen M.
Galen M. Cooper "Coop" 1959 ~ 2005 "Riding off into the Sunset" Galen Mitchell
Cooper, lovingly known as "Coop" to many, passed away at home on May 4, 2005.
He battled for "life" for five years. Chronic hepatitis and diabetes finally
took their toll. He is now "absent from the body but present with the Lord."
Galen was born on February 5, 1959 to Joanne T. and John Joseph Cooper in
Murray, Utah. He was the youngest of three children. He graduated from
Cottonwood High School. Galen was a very successful painting contractor in
Salt Lake City and Park City prior to his illness.He was an intelligent
businessman with a warm, winning personality. Helpfulness and kindness came
naturally to this gentle giant. He extended his friendship and support to a
multitude of friends. His unconditional love earned him the title of "best
friend" to many. He loved Harleys, the Grateful Dead, good food, computers and
especially his daughters. There are angels on earth; and one, Julie Russell,
his "Jewel" survives Galen. She was his constant loving companion and
caretaker. Also survived by the lights of his life, daughters, Kristen and
Kadee Cooper; stepdaughter, Jadee Jeffries and their mother Donna Leavitt;
loving mother Joanne Cooper; brother, John Joseph Cooper Jr. (Amber); sister,
Linda Muhar (Marty); aunt and uncle, Dorothy Titcomb and Robert Titcomb;
nieces and nephews, Brandon, Chantelle, Hailey, Damon, and Creed Hoxer;
grandmother, Louise Cooper, Phil. Pa.; and numerous other family members and
friends. Preceded in death by father, John Joseph Cooper. The family wishes to
express their gratitude to Roger Lewis and Galen's many friends who loved him
and helped him through his illness. You are too many to mention, but you know
who you are. Also to Pat, his nurse, and IHC Hospice Care with their loving
and caring ways. A special thank you to our favorite Catholic Priest, Father

Harward, Hortense C.
Hortense C. Harward 1916 ~ 2005 Hortense C. Harward, age 88, of Springville,
passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2005. She was born June 1, 1916 in Springville,
Utah to Edgar Vernon and Sylvia May Hansen Crandall. She married Lenard R.
Harward on September 27, 1937 in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in
death March 23, 1986. Hortense was a wonderful homemaker. She loved to work.
Hortense and her sister Loeen gave many bread and pie demonstrations
throughout the county. She loved crafts and quilting projects and was awarded
the Silver Thimble from the Utah State Quilt Guild for her contributions to
quilting. She is survived by her children: Nan Peery of Morgan Hill, CA; Ron
and Jud (Marsha) both of Springville; Jane (Larry) Overman of North Ogden; 12
grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother,
LaMar "Sonny" Crandall; three sisters: Elaine Jackson, Loeen Whiting and Carma
Martin; and a sister-in-law, Leah Crandall. Preceded in death by two brothers,
Bliss and Ruel Crandall. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2005
at 11 a.m. in the LDS Chapel at 451 South Main in Springville. There will be a
viewing held Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200
South in Springville and Saturday at the church one hour prior to the
services. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of

Hiskey, Howard Danley
Howard Danley Hiskey "The Good Neighbor" Howard Danley Hiskey, 89, passed away
peacefully at home on May 4, 2005. He waged a courageous four-year battle
following major surgery. Throughout this difficult time his dear wife,
Shirley, was ever attentive and at his side to assist with every need. Howard
was born on April 10, 1916 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Virgil Palm Hiskey and
Catherine McKnight Hiskey. Howard married Shirley Maurine Broberg Hiskey on
October 15, 1947. He is survived by his wife of 57 years; sons John (Lynnette)
Hiskey, Paul (Linda) Hiskey, Mark (Angie) Hiskey; daughter Nancy (Rand)
Stewart; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his
parents and brothers Charles (Chic) William Hiskey and Joseph (Mac) McKnight
Hiskey. Howard served four years in the US Marine Corps during World War II
with the Second Marine Division, in Saipan, Tinian, Okinawa, and Nagasaki,
Japan. He had a reputation of honesty and commitment to service that endeared
him to those with whom he served. He worked at Chevron Oil for 31 years,
retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Wasatch Lodge No. 1, F& AM. Up until
the last four-years, Howard would be seen clearing the snow or performing
other acts of service in his neighborhood. He was ever aware of shut-ins,
widows or others in need and would quietly perform acts of kindness. He was
usually one of the first to visit a neighbor, former work associate, or Lodge
Member during times of illness at hospitals or care centers. Howard was
devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had
a love of nature and particularly the Oregon Coast. He had a magical way of
conveying the enchantment of the Columbia River Gorge and Pacific Ocean to
young and old alike. Five generations of the Hiskey Clan have shared in his
love for Neskowin Beach, Oregon. In keeping with his commitment to service,
Howard donated his body to the University of Utah Medical Center. This loving
act best expresses his love for people. The family expresses their sincere
appreciation to Dr. Florentino Abueg and Linday, Sue, Deb, Rudy, and Kim of
Harmony Hospice. A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 7, 2005 at
the Millstream Ward, 3400 So. 1100 E., Salt Lake City, UT at 11 a.m. In lieu
of flowers, the family suggests a donation to your favorite charity or
performing an act of kindness to a neighbor. "When ye are in the service of
your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God."

Hodson, Zola Grace Brown
Zola Grace Brown Hodson 1911 ~ 2005 Zola Grace Brown Hodson, 94, passed away
on May 3, 2005 in Provo, Utah. Zola was born on April 12, 1911 in Cardston,
Alberta, Canada to Zina Young Card and Hugh Brown Brown. She was the second of
eight children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Waldo Gee Hodson,
brother Hugh Card and sisters Zina (Brown), LaJune (Hay) and Margaret
(Jorgensen). She lived in Canada until the age of 16 when her family moved to
Salt Lake City. She attended BYU and completed a course at Quish Beauty
College. When she and Waldo were married they moved to Southern California and
lived there for almost 30 years. There they raised three sons and a daughter.
Upon Waldo's retirement they moved to Salt Lake City and purchased the "family
home" in the Garden Park ward and lived there for 30 years. She was always an
active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was ward
Relief Society president and in the stake Relief Society presidency for 16
years. She was a stake missionary and was a tour guide at the Salt Lake
visitors' center at Temple Square for seven years. Her talents ranged from
sewing to writing poetry. She crocheted baby blankets for each
great-grandchild. She loved to teach and to speak in church and in the
community. She was known for her thoughtful letters and notes and had the gift
of knowing when to send them. Survived by children: Richard (Connie), Daniel
B. Jeffs (Wilma), L. James (Gaylene) and Marie (Richard) Sampson; 22
grandchildren, 50 great -grandchildren (five more due this year), her first
great-great-grandchild is due in a month; siblings: Mary Woodward, Charles M.
Brown and Carol Sonntag. Funeral services will be held at the Provo 5th ward
chapel, 502 East 200 North in Provo on Saturday, May 7th, at noon. There will
be a viewing Friday evening May 6th at the Larkin Mortuary (2350 East 1300
South in Salt Lake City) from 6-8 p.m.; and, Saturday, 10:30-11:45 a.m., prior
to services at the ward. Interment at Provo City Cemetery.

Holmes, Ila Adelia Call
Ila Adelia Call Holmes "Thanks to Dad" Our wonderful wife, mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Ila Adelia Call Holmes, started her
new journey without us May 4, 2005. She was born October 26, 1919 in Willard,
Utah, daughter of William Henry and Ida Melissa Wood Call. She grew up in
Willard and was student body Vice President of Box Elder High School where she
met her sweetheart, Sheldon. The sweethearts married September 8, 1938;

husband, Sheldon; son, Doug and Nan Holmes, Denver, CO; daughters Sydney
Christensen, West Valley City; Julie Kent, West Valley City; son, Kirk and
Patsy Holmes, San Francisco, CA; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grand-children.
She was preceded in death by her precious granddaughter, Nikole. The greatest
joy was her family. She will be missed and forever in our hearts. A special
thanks to Superior Home Care Hospice and Home Option Senior Care for all the
care extended to our family. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 12:00
noon at the Granger 18th Ward, 2850 West 3835 South. A viewing will be held
Friday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and
Saturday at the church, 11-11:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park. In

Iown Foote Jensen "Devoted To Family" Surrounded by her family, Chlora Iown
Foote Jensen, returned home to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 4, 2005,
after a brief illness. Born January 21, 1925 to Warren and Amanda Foote. She
married Kaye L. Jensen on June 6, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was an
active member of the LDS church, serving in numerous positions, including
Relief Society President. Service was always the focus of her life. She was an
accomplished seamstress and cook and loved to garden and read. She was an
elementary school teacher in the Murray School District for many years. She
and her husband lived in Cane Beds, AZ. for 18 years, where they made many
wonderful friends. Her greatest joy was her family. Survived by her husband,
Kaye; children, Michael (Karen) Jensen, Alan Jensen, Kathi (Lee) Eaton, Jacki
Hansen, Kim (Quanah) Jensen, Kaylinn (Vince) Pedersen; 31 grandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren; sister and brothers, Melba (Dick) Morris, Odell (Helen)
Foote, Lloyd (Ardine) Foote, Neldon Foote, Thelma Foote, Betty Foote, Francis
(Patti) Dupaix, Joye Cummings; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in
death by brothers and sisters, Arnold Foote, Devon Foote, Joe Cummings, Lois
(Andy) Andrew, and Maurine Dupaix. Funeral services will be held Monday, May
9, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at the Union Fort 4th Ward, 6710 So. 1300 E., Salt Lake

Molloy, Melita Dagmar Michell
Melita Dagmar Michell Molloy 3/4/13 ~ 5/3/05 Beloved mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother passed on Tuesday, 3 May 2005 in Salt Lake City, at the age
of 92. She was born March 4, 1913 in New York City and as a child moved to
Roosevelt, Long Island, where they had a small chicken farm. She graduated
from nearby Hempstead High School and later attended Adelphi College. She
married William Alfred Molloy, Sr. on June 30, 1937 in Hempstead, where they
lived. He preceded her in death in 1949. For 10 years she served as a tax
clerk for the Town of Hempstead. She later became involved with real estate
and moved from Hempstead in 1960 to Arlington, Virginia, 1964 to Washington,
D.C. and then in 1969 to Salt Lake City. She became a convert to The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1962. Melita had a unique personality and
was often known as "one in a million"! Survived by son, Gerald (Angelica) of
Cottonwood Heights, with whom she lived the past 12 years; eight
grandchildren: Celeste (Blake) Butler, Cory, Heidi (Patrick) Palacios, Hiram
(Sarah), Sara (Jules) Lambert, Steven, Teresa (Chadwick) Graham, Beth (Cory)
Robin; and 12 great-grandchildren. Viewing will be held Saturday, May 7, 2005
at 11 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. prior to the services at 12 noon in the Brighton 4th
Ward, 2327 East Bengal Blvd. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.

Norma Fern Beck Montague "Together Again" Norma Fern Beck Montague, 87, was
born July 8, 1917 in Lake Shore, Utah to Issac Leonard Beck and Martha Fern
Harding. She died May 5, 2005 of heart failure. Raised in Utah County, moved
to Salt Lake, graduated from West High in 1935. The same year she married the
love of her life, Adwin Gene Montague; married until his death in 1987. She
was a faithful member of the LDS Church and the temple work. Her God and her
family and friends came before herself. She will be greatly missed by all who
knew her. Survived by brother, Ray Beck, SLC and sister, Shirley Pitcher,
Oregon; sons, Ray and David of Salt Lake, Gene of Arizona; daughter, Evelyn
Likes of Firth, Idaho; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Graveside
services will be held May 7, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950
East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah. Family and friends may call at Larkin Mortuary,

Murphy, William Joseph "Bill"
William Joseph Murphy "Bill" William Joseph (Bill) Murphy, 86, passed away May
4, 2005 from causes incident to age. Born December 11, 1918 to Joseph Augustus
and Johanna Murphy in Ironwood, Michigan. Bill lived an extraordinary life.
Raised in Chicago, he helped support his parents and sisters by delivering
papers, boxing in "smokers" and working in a bakery. He played football at
Notre Dame. In 1938, he served in the Army in North Africa under General
Patton. He was later injured in Sicily by a mortar round and finished up his
military service at Ft. Douglas in Salt Lake City as a military policeman. He
then met Barbara Hallman and they married in 1946. They became the parents of
one daughter and six sons. Bill was a busy man working to support his family.
He delivered flowers, was a parking attendant at the Kearns Bldg, tended bar
at the Hotel Newhouse, drove truck for Serta Mattress, delivered the Salt Lake
Trib with his sons and retired from the USPS after 32 years. Dad loved playing
his slots, going to Wendover and telling his life stories to any willing
listener until wee hours. He went out of his way to help others in need. He
had a great sense of humor and everyone who ever came in contact with him
loved him. His quick wit and Far Side humor will be missed by the friends and
family that constantly surrounded him. Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara;
daughter Judyann Nepolis (Michael); sons, Mike (Cathy), John (Lisa), Frank
(Barbara), Patrick (Paula), Bill Jr. (Margaret), 11 grandchildren, seven
great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Infant son, Richard,
parents, and three sisters preceded him in death. The family wishes to thank
the staff at Woodland Park Care Center and the VA Hospital for their care of
Bill. Friends and family will gather on Saturday, May 7, 2005 from 3:30-4:30
p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street in Murray, Utah. Dad's

Pineda, mother of Emily Elizabeth Pineda; daughter of Charles Wesley Oliver

2005 at her residence in Draper, Utah. Attended the University of Utah with
Russian major. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Draper 12th Ward. The great joy and love of her life was her daughter Emily.

Smith, Bernice
Bernice Smith 1916 ~ 2005 Bernice Smith, 88, dearly loved wife of the late
Alvin I. Smith, died April 27, 2005 in Brentwood, California in the home of
her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Ellen Medway and Dr. Jerald Medway. Bernice
was born in Salt Lake City, August 17, 1916 to Benjamin Rosenblum and Ella
Newman Rosenblum. She graduated from East High School and attended the
University of Utah. For over 40 years she was a volunteer at Holy Cross
Hospital. Bernice served on the Board of Trustees and donated over 11,000
hours of service. Between 1950 and 1960 she volunteered at Shriners Hospital
for Children. In later years she volunteered weekly at Ronald McDonald House.
Bernice had a great exuberance for life and an eternal optimism. She traveled
with Alvin around the world keeping diaries as she went. She was a fabulous
cook, a loving and beautiful presence, and a woman of great dignity. Bernice
is survived by her daughter, Ellen Medway, son-in-law Jerald Medway of Los
Angeles, grand children: Sara and Rob Hapner of Santa Cruz, California; Josh
Greene and Renee Gertler of San Francisco; Zack, Gabe and Jake Medway, and
Russel Hartman of Los Angeles; great grandson Ezra Hapner; brother-in-law and
sister-in-law Herbert and Gayle Smith of Beverly Hills. Friends and family
welcome at graveside services, City Cemetery, entrance at Fourth Ave and Q
Street, 11 a.m. Monday May 9, 2005. Reception will follow at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. A. Wally Sandack 26 North Wolcott St. In lieu of flowers, donations

Milton C. Smith 1913 ~ 2005 Milton C. Smith, 91, of Orem passed away
peacefully on Thursday, May 05, 2005 in South Jordan. He was born October 17,
1913 in Farnum, Idaho to Henry and Aurilla Richardson Smith. He married Marval
Newman on June 1, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple. Milton attended school in
Pleasant Grove and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. He served a
three year LDS Mission to Czecho-Slovakia from 1933-36. Milton worked at
Geneva Steel for over 35 years. He was a devoted member of the LDS Church and
served as Bishop of the Windsor Ward. He and Marval enjoyed their time serving
as Temple Workers in both the Provo and Mt. Timpanogos Temples. He is survived
by his wife Marval; children: Duane (Lyle) Smith, West Valley; LeAnne (Ben)
West, Bountiful; Scott (Marsha) Smith, Magna; Kelly (Barbara) Smith, Green
River, WY; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and sister, Avera
Williams, Pleasant Grove. His daughter, Patricia, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 9, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the Orem
Northridge 14th Ward Chapel, 1875 North 280 West, Orem. Friends may call
Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East,

Willard S. Smith 1921 ~ 2005 Willard (Bud) S. Smith, our loving Dad, Husband,
and Grandfather, passed away Monday, May 2, 2005. Born February 9, 1921 in
Salt Lake City to Fanny and Willard Smith. He married his lifelong sweetheart,
Emily Bringhurst, on June 21, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. They shared 65
years of wonderful marriage together. Served his country during World War II
in the Army Air Corp Engineers. He retired from Restaurant Stores and
Equipment in 1987, after 40 years of services. His undying devotion, caring
and love to his family was the foundation on which he built his life. He
enjoyed sharing the outdoors with his family and friends. Preceded in death by
his daughter, Annette and his son, David. Survived by his wife Emily B. Smith,
daughters; Linda Smith, Janet (Bob) Odor, Becky (Mark) Hansen. He had nine
grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren. There
will be a viewing at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, Salt Lake
City, on Saturday May 7, from 11 to 1 p.m. Following the viewing. Graveside

Kitty Stewart 1935 ~ 2005 Kitty Ingrid Stewart of Salt Lake City passed away
May 4, 2005. She was born in Copenhagen, Denmark October 7, 1935. In 1957
Kitty moved from Denmark to Salt Lake City, Utah. She became a United States
Citizen in 1964, of which she was very proud. Married Archie Lee McFarland in
Ogden, Utah in 1957 they were later divorced. Married Neil Stewart May 12,
1973 in Salt Lake City. Kitty was reared and educated in Denmark and was a CPA
for over 40 years working at various jobs in her field, she started working
for Salt Lake City in 1972 until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of
the Utah Public Employees. Kitty loved Talk-Radio and participated as a caller
in many conversations having to do with Politics. She enjoyed community and
local politics and took it very seriously. Kitty is survived by her beloved
husband Neil; her son Erik Lee McFarland of San Diego, California; daughter
Elisabeth Joyce Walker of Salt Lake City; grandchildren Chelsea Terra Walker,
and Bradley Patrick McFarland; sister Elsabeth Nielsen of Denmark. Preceded:
in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister. Funeral services for
Kitty will be held Saturday, May 7, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Garner Funeral
Home 1001 11th Avenue, SLC. Family will greet friends one hour prior to

Junior College. Worked as a sales rep and District Service Manager for Hershey
Corp. for 12 years. Worked as a Service Rep. for Movitz Wholesale Jewelry for
24 years. Survivors - Sons Ross W. Strong and wife Hulene, Steven R. Strong,
Brother Phil Strong, wife Betty, Sister Dora Golightly. four grandchildren and
10 great-grandchildren. Enjoyed Fishing, Golf and traveling. Member of United
Commercial Travelers. Past Member of International Footprinters Association.

Thompson, Brian D.
Brian D. Thompson Loving Father Brian D. Thompson our beloved father,
grandfather, son, brother, and friend passed away on Wednesday May 4th 2005 of
natural causes in his Bountiful home. He will be reunited in heaven with his
sweet daughter Brandi, his mother, nephew Ben, and his grandparents. He was
born on September 28th 1948 in Murray, UT to Paul G. and the late Shirley G.
Thompson. He valiantly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army in the
Vietnam war. One of his loves was to race cars which he did in his younger
years and later he became one of the sports fondest spectators. He also loved
camping, and yearly trips to Yellowstone. Most of all he enjoyed spending time
with his children and grandchildren. Brian is survived by his father, sisters
Vickie Draper, Lesa Gardner, and Tamra Roylance, his brothers Douglas P.
Thompson and David P. Thompson. Also by eight of his children, Bobbilyn
(Jason) Hogge, Becky (Eric) Bumstead, Barbette Thompson, Breanna (Dave) Bolos,
Brittany Thompson, Brandon Thompson, Chelsea Thompson, and Jordan Thompson.
His nine grandchildren, Jason Jr. Hogge, Kayden Hogge, Kellan Bumstead,
Whitney Hogge, Jensen Bumstead, Delci Lamb, Addison Bumstead, Abigail Hogge
and Paraskevas Bolos. Brian will be remembered and missed for the laughter and
love that he brought into the lives of all those who knew him. We will miss

Wright, Kenneth M.
Kenneth M. Wright May 2, 2005 Kenneth M. Wright passed away at his home in
Salt Lake City on Monday, 2 May 2005 at the age of 61. Ken was born to Melvin
J. Wright and Bernice M. Reed Wright in Park City, Utah on 23 August 1942. He
graduated from Park City High School where he was active in sports and band.
Ken served four years in the U.S. Navy as a communications engineer, most of
the time aboard the U.S.S. Henry W. Tucker, a destroyer escort based out of
San Diego and operating in the Pacific. His Navy time took him to Japan and
other Pacific locations, and to Boston and other cities on the East Coast.
After his Navy service, Ken worked for several years in the mines in Park
City. He left Park City for San Jose, California, where he worked repairing
large, main-frame computers for such companies as IBM. He was highly
recognized for his expertise in this field. Ken eventually tired of the
enormous amount of travel this job entailed, and took his favorite job,
running a fishing lodge on the Big Hole River in Montana. In 1993, Ken
returned to Salt Lake City, where he lived until his death. Ken was a member
of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a very
compassionate and caring person, and was always eager to lend a hand. He loved
the out of doors, and was an accomplished fly fisherman. His mother and
step-father, Robert Thielke, lived with Ken in Salt Lake from 1974 until their
deaths. Ken took tender care of his mother during the several years of her
final illness. Ken never married. He is survived by two brothers, Phillip M.
Wright (Mike) and wife Wynn, Salt Lake City, and Harold M. Wright (Howdy),
Organ, New Mexico, several aunts and cousins, and many friends. Preceding him
in death were his parents, step-father, and brother, Marvin L. Wright.
Graveside services will be held at the Peoa Cemetery on Saturday, 7 May 2005
beginning at 11:00 a.m. There will be a visitation Friday, May 6, 2005 from
6-8 at Memorial Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East, Murray, Utah. The family
suggests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in his name to a
recognized medical research effort or other charitable organization.
