Allmendinger, Maxine N.
Maxine N. Allmendinger 1919 ~ 2005 Maxine Naom Allmendinger, 85, passed away
May 7, 2005 in Sandy, Born Aug. 9, 1919 in Sandy to William and Isabell
Hardcastle Nelson. Married Albert Owen Allmendinger Feb. 9, 1938, solemnized
July 17, 1984 in the Jordan River Temple. He passed away July 2, 2003. She is
survived by two daughters, Karen Allmendinger of Marion, UT; Susan A. (Merle)
Owens of Simi Valley, CA; four grandchildren and one great-grandson, Michael
(Hallie) Owens, Salt Lake City; Amber and her son, Haydn Owens; Alison Owens
and Emily Owens, all of Simi Valley; brother-in-law and sister, Gaylen D. and
Shirley N. Maynes; brother-in-law, George H. Park; sister-in-law, Florence
Allmendinger; and nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by sister, Sandra
Park. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the
Sandy City Cemetery, 9000 South 700 East. There will be a viewing at Goff
Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m.

Allred, Mabel Finlayson
Mabel Finlayson Allred 1919 ~ 2005 Born on January 11, 1919, a "blue baby" and
a twin during the World War I influenza epidemic, Mabel spent her first
moments in an oven being 'warmed up'. And how she warmed up to life! She lived
with a passion for beauty and a remarkable capacity for unconditional love.
She survived rheumatic fever, a sensitive nature, and raids by the FBI, and,
like Thoreau, spent a night in jail for her convictions. She walked in grace,
celebrating life and seeing always the best in others, including her parents,
Reginald Patrick Finlayson and Ettie Josephine Hanson, her sisters Birdie
(Covington) and Carol (Lloyd Sullivan) and Melba (her twin and her
sister-wife) and her brother (David Reginald). The love of her life was her
husband, Dr. Rulon C. Allred, who shared her delight in people and the Gospel
of Jesus Christ. She lavished her children, David Laddie (Terry), Joseph
Laurie (Julie), Jared Rulon (Joanne), Dorothy Jeanne Solomon (Bruce), Gary
Stephen (Bonnie), Robbie Marcus (Kayleen), with love and respect, bestowing a
legacy of personal freedom. She showered each of her 25 grandchildren with
individual appreciation. Her 13 great- grandchildren know that in Grandma
Mabel's kingdom, even "little people" matter, perhaps most of all. Her
romantic spirit, expressed through her piano playing at weddings, church
services, musical productions, and radio recordings, lives on in her many
students, in our hearts, and in paradise where she walks now with loved ones
who passed on before her. She was truly an elect lady, who continued to grow
throughout her life. After 65 years as the pianist of the Allred polygamous
group, she re-embraced her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints and visited the LDS temple soon after her 84th birthday. She
passed away peacefully on May 6, 2005 at 6:30 a.m., due to complications
following surgery. Though she will be missed, her love will abide. We will
celebrate her life and comfort one another at a viewing on Tuesday, May 10,
2005, from 7 to 9 p.m. Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City,
and on Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at a brief viewing (9:00-9:45 a.m.) followed
by the funeral at 10:00 a.m. at the Millcreek Eighth Ward, 4600 South 600
East. The graveside service takes place at Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery, 2350
East 1300 South, at 1:00 p.m.

Bangerter, Carter White
Carter White Bangerter 1930 ~ 2005 Carter White Bangerter of North Salt Lake,
UT was born January 25, 1930 in Bountiful, Utah, the last of 12 children of
Orson N. and Edith White Bangerter. He passed away in North Salt Lake on May
5, 2005. He grew up in Bountiful, graduated from Davis High in 1948, served in
the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Carter worked in brick construction for
over 50 years. Starting with his brother, Don and later in business for
himself. He assisted in the building of many homes in the Davis county area
and also created some beautiful fireplaces. He liked to farm and watch things
grow and produce. He and his brother Don, raised their last garden together in
2004. Carter also had a couple of fruit trees, grapes and raspberries at his
home. He took great pleasure in sharing what he raised with family and
friends. He was a member of the LDS Church and was a High Priest in the
Camelot Ward in North Salt Lake. He held leadership positions in High Priests
and also Sunday School. He was a faithful home teacher. He married Bette Ernst
and they had two daughters and a son. Later divorced. Married Mildred
Shepherd, September 23, 1977 in Elko, Nevada. Marriage solemnized in the Salt
Lake LDS Temple, September 23, 1983. He had a great love for his, as well as
Millie's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include:
wife, Millie; brother, Donald W. (Jen), Bountiful; five sisters-in-law and
three brothers-in-law; children, Carla (Steve) James, Marian (Carmen) Capito,
Dennis (Jackie) Bangerter; step-children, William Shepherd, Jr., Gary
Shepherd, and Don Shepherd; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by two sisters, eight brothers, one grandchild. Funeral
services will be held Monday, May 9, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Camelot LDS Ward
Chapel, 55 East 350 North, North Salt Lake. Friends and family may meet Sunday
evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North
Main, and Monday morning from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to
services. Interment-Kaysville City Cemetery. Online guest book at

Batchelor, Joie
Joie Batchelor 1911 ~ 2005 Joie Batchelor, 93, of Provo, Utah, died Thursday,
May 5, 2005. She was born August 9, 1911 in Nephi, Utah, the daughter of Roy
Lunt and Annie Jacobsen Batchelor. She was a member of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints. Joie graduated from BY High School, Provo, Utah,
and Brigham Young University. She was an accomplished cellist and was in the
BYU Symphony Orchestra. Joie shared her musical talents with the community for
many years. She is survived by her two nephews, Donald (Kay) Cowan, Orem, Utah
and David (Susanna) Cowan, Wellington, Florida and nieces, Marilyn (Lloyd)
Bullock, New Castle, Colorado and Barbara Kelley, Orem. She is also survived
by her special friend and foster daughter, Doris (Jim) Platt, Salt Lake City,
Utah and special grandchildren, Andrea, Cameron, Kirsten, and Nicole and their
children. She also leaves behind many dear friends. She was preceded in death
by her mother, father and two sisters, Leila Cowan and Verda Thomas. Special
Thanks to the wonderful people at Cove Point Retirement Community for the
loving care and attention they gave Joie for the last several years. Funeral
services will be held Monday, May 9, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. in the Walker
Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, where friends may call from
11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the

Black, Agnes P.
Agnes P. Black 1909 ~ 2005 Agnes Partridge Black, age 96, passed away
peacefully on May 4, 2005 at the home of her granddaughter, Chrystine Robins.
She was born March 10, 1909 in Fillmore, Utah to Frank H. and Harriet Whicker
Partridge and was the last survivor of seven children. She attended school in
Fillmore and at Brigham Young University where she earned her teaching
credentials and the University of Utah where she earned a Library credential.
She married Elliot R. Black, June 3, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent
most of their married life in Tooele, Utah until moving to Holladay in 1977.
They were the parents of seven children, three from Elliot's first marriage
and four of their own. Elliot preceded her in death on January 5, 1988. Agnes
worked in the public school system for many years in Fillmore and Tooele. She
was a gifted teacher and had a positive influence on the lives of many
students. She enjoyed sewing, homemaking, gardening and she loved books. She
was a talented singer and always generous to share her gift of music. As a
lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she had a
strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was always faithful and
active in her pursuit of truth and righteousness. She served in many stake and
ward positions and she and Elliot fulfilled a successful mission. They also
enjoyed serving for many years as temple workers in the Salt Lake Temple. She
is survived by four sons and three daughters, Luana and Marrell Johnson,
George and Diana Black, Dan and Reva Black, Bertie and Marvin Lee, Mary Anne
and Harvey Rich, Edward Black, Stephen and Debra Black, and by 31
grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. The
family would like to give special thanks and love to Chrystine Robins for the
loving care and assistance provided over the last several years of her
grandmother's life. Funeral services will be Monday May 9th at 11:00 a.m. at
the Tooele South Stake Center, 1025 Southwest Dr. Friends may call at the
church 9:30- 10:30 prior to the services. Interment in the Tooele City
Cemetery.

Bowen, Ruth Sterling
Ruth Sterling Bowen "Put me to bed, tuck me in, and send me home." Ruth
Sterling Bowen passed away at the home of her son on May 4, 2005 in Salt Lake
City. She was born on November 15, 1921 in Provo, Utah to John William
Sterling and Jennie Merle Gardner. Ruth was a 1939 graduate of Spanish Fork
High School. She married the love of her life, William Davis Bowen, on
September 25, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple. Like many people of her
generation, World War II and the Korean Conflict affected her early marriage,
resulting in many separations and frequent moves. She looked back at that time
as one of her greatest accomplishments. She was a faithful member of the LDS
Church and served a mission with her husband to Alabama in 1982. She was a
wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Survived by her two children
Linda B. Adamson (David) and John F. Bowen (Kitty), seven grandchildren, four
great-grandchildren, her brother Bill Sterling, and former daughter-in-law
Julie Bowen. Preceded in death by her husband Bill, sister Marcelle Hughes,
and brothers Len and Ross Sterling. Special thanks to the loving and
professional CNS Hospice nurses, Debbie and Barbara, the skilled and caring
staff of the Wound Care Clinic at Health South, and Dr. Barbara Rizzardi. In
accordance with our mother's last wishes, a private family gathering was held,
followed by a brief graveside service in Spanish Fork. Funeral Services were
under the direction of Wasatch Lawn Mortuary

Buckmiller, Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant Buckmiller 1956 ~ 2005 Following a sudden accident on Sat.,
April 30, 2005, Kenneth Grant Buckmiller completed his valiant mission here on
earth. Ken was born September 30, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Richard
Grant Buckmiller and Christel Doris Noss. He graduated from South High School
and served an LDS Mission in Louisville, KY. Upon returning he fell in love
with Jill Elaine Adamson. They were married August 23, 1978 in the Salt Lake
LDS Temple. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1985 in Physical
Therapy and after working for IHC he started his own clinic, Northern Physical
Therapy Services. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in many callings including his service
as Bishop and on High Council. He was an avid Utah fan and loved cycling, but
his greatest joy was his family. He left a divine legacy and will be deeply
missed by his adored wife of 26 years, Jill Adamson Buckmiller; his children,
Jacob (Regina) Buckmiller, Kristen (Ryan) Healey, and Erik Buckmiller; his
brother, Ron (Lisa) Buckmiller; his sister, Sarah (Peter) Torres; his father,
Robert Sandberg, his grandchildren, Samuel Buckmiller, Brigham Healey, and
Grant Buckmiller, and numerous family members and friends. Funeral services
will be held Saturday, May 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kaysville Haight
Creek Stake Center, 1520 South Freepointe Drive, Kaysville, Utah. Friends may
call Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful
Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Saturday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the

Kenneth Butler 1967 ~ 2005 Our loving father, son, brother, uncle, nephew and
friend Kenneth (Kenny) Jay Butler, passed away on May 2, 2005. He was born on
September 5, 1967 to Roger Butler of Grantsville, UT and Reva Kenney Butler of
Houston, TX. He is survived by his children Michael, Ashley and Aaron;
brothers and sisters: Eva (Dan) Dow, David (Tara) Butler, Chris (Lisa) Butler,
Virginia (Brian) Schlund. Viewing will be held on Monday May 9, 2005 from
11:30 to 12:30 at the Grantsville West Stake Center (115 E. Cherry St),
followed by funeral services at 1:00. Interment will be at the Grantsville
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations for funeral expenses would be

Chase, J. Paul
J. Paul Chase A Farmer, That's Me J. Paul Chase, age 81, died April 30, 2005
at his home in Overton, NV. Born May 5, 1923 in Centerville, UT to John
Howland and Alice Ackerman Chase. Married Shirley Hoggan on September 22, 1943
in Salt Lake City. Shirley passed away on September 30, 2002. Survived by
seven children, 23 grandchildren, 19 great-grand-children, and one brother. He
was preceded in death by his wife, one son and a sister. A service will be
held Sunday, May 29, 2005 at 1 p.m. at the Overton, NV Cemetery.

Davis, Rulon Kay
Rulon Kay Davis 1923 ~ 2005 Our loving Rulon Kay Davis passed away on May 5,
2005 from complications due to Alzheimer. Kay was born May 21, 1923 to Rulon
Holmes Davis and Marguerite Ethel Simpson, in Salt Lake City, where he lived
until his passing. Kay graduated from South High School in 1942 and enlisted
in the US Army serving in the Signal Corps in the Pacific Theater. He later
attended the University of Utah. Kay married Alice Dorothy Mead on October 22,
1947. On October 22, 1977, Kay and Alice were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS
Temple. Kay worked in electronics through his professional career, retiring
form Sperry Univac after 25 years. While at Sperry, Kay had several patents
accredited to his name for procedures in environmental testing. Kay was an
extremely creative and industrious person and had many talents that served him
throughout his life time. He was always giving of his time and talents to help
his family, friends and neighbors. Kay served the Lord as a dedicated member
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served two LDS stake
missions, and also served as a High Priest Group leader and a temple worker in
the Salt Lake LDS temple. Kay is survived by his wife, Alice Dorothy (Mead)
Davis, son, Michael (Rosalie) Davis and daughter Patti Davis. He has seven
grandchildren; Adam (Katy) Davis, Andrew (Debbie) Davis, Emily (Kevin) Ford,
Sara (Jason) Sandburg, Christopher Davis, Tyler Davis and Molly Kate Davis. He
has six great grandchildren; Kelsey and Aidan Davis, Taylor, Abby and Garrett
Ford, and William Sandburg. Preceded in death by his father, mother and
brother, Donald Davis. We will dearly miss this sweet man, but we are thankful
that he is at peace and has joined with those who have preceded him. He has
gone to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ. A
viewing will be held at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, from 6:00 to
8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, May 10. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, May 11, at
the Fairmont LDS ward, 2465 S. 800 E., Salt Lake,, at 11:00 a.m., with a
viewing one hour prior to the service. Following the services, interment will
be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Drive.

Dean, Jean Shepherd Nicholas
Jean Shepherd Nicholas Dean "Mimi" 1917 ~ 2005 Jean Shepherd Nicholas Dean,
age 87, of Salt Lake City, UT, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2005. Jean was
born on November 26, 1917, in Salt Lake City, UT, to Robert LeRoy and Millie
Davis Shepherd. Jean worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, Murray Laundry,
and later retired from Fireman's Fund Insurance. She loved gardening and her
rose garden was her special delight. She was an avid reader, loved to learn
about history and she loved her children and grandchildren dearly. Special
thanks to Bennion Care Center who were instrumental this last year for their
loving and caring treatment of our mother. Also thanks to our precious angel,
Crystal. Jean is survived by her three sons: David E. (Vernona), Michael S.
(Verlaine), Grant Lee (Margaret) Nicholas, and one daughter, Kathleen Dean
(Steven) Horne; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by
her husbands, Eldred "Bud" Nicholas and later Herbert Dean, Jr., also two
brothers, Morrill and Lockwood Shepherd and two sisters, Emily Shepherd Ellis
and Anna Shepherd Shepherd. Graveside services for Jean will be held Monday,
May 9, 2005 at 1 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 North "N" Street.
Friends may call on Monday morning from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the
Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E. prior to the graveside services. In lieu of

Denney, Ruth Ray
Ruth Ray Denney 1922 ~ 2005 Ruth Ray Denney, 83, passed away peacefully
Wednesday, May 4, 2005. She was born February 9, 1922 in West Jordan. She
married Rulon R. Denney in 1942; he passed away in 1966. She later married
Robert Mortenson, who passed away in 1978. She is survived by her daughter,
Linda (Dick) Lodmell; son, Kevin R. Denney; sisters, Betty Tolman, June
Chappel, Bonnie (Jay) Bogges; brothers, Darrell (Betty) Ray, Gene Ray; three
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at
11 a.m. on Monday, May 9, 2005 at Redwood Memorial Cemetery, 6500 South
Redwood Road in West Jordan, with a viewing one hour prior at Redwood Memorial
Mortuary.

Dunaway, Ruth Eloese Anderson
Ruth Eloese Anderson Dunaway 1924 ~ 2005 OREM, Utah - A lifetime of compassion
and service came to end, Saturday, May 7, 2005, when Ruth Eloese Anderson
Dunaway returned to her Heavenly Father. Ruth was born January 26, 1924, to
Francis Emmanuel Anderson and Anna Eloese Poulsen, in Rains, Utah. She
graduated form Carbon High in 1942 and then completed her nurse's training at
the University of Utah and LDS Hospital. Her care and concern for others was
typified by her lifelong service as a registered nurse. She was Director of
Nursing at Weber County Hospital and continued to serve others well past her
retirement. She was preceded in death by her lifelong sweetheart and
companion, James Bryant Dunaway. They were married November 13, 1948. Their
marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Ruth is survived by
her son, Scott (Ruth) Dunaway, five grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren, and many dear friends including, Vicky Barber, her
husband Paul, and their five children. Ruth was the personification of charity
and Christ-like service to others. A deeply committed member of the LDS
Church, she served faithfully in many callings including visiting teacher,
Ward Relief Society President, and an Ogden Temple worker. Throughout her life
she always put the needs and welfare of others ahead of her own. No matter
where she lived, Ruth was a true friend, confidant and neighborhood nurse. She
truly loved and was loved by everyone around her. Funeral services will be
held Tuesday, May 10th, at 11:00 a.m., at the Kaysville Barnes Park Ward
Chapel, 1275 West 200 North, (Flint Street). Friends and family may call at
the church on Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Lindquist's Memorial

Ellis, June Ingrid Jansson
June Ingrid Jansson Ellis 1916 ~ 2005 Woods Cross- Our wonderful mother, June
Ellis, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died peacefully on
Friday, May 6, 2005, in Bountiful, Utah. She was born in Murray, Utah, on June
9, 1916, the ninth child of Per Gustaf and Karin Larson Jansson. She was born
with music in her heart and soul and played the piano by ear from the moment
she could reach the keys. She later taught piano lessons in her home. She also
sang in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and loved to harmonize with her children
and family. She graduated from the University of Utah and loved being an
exemplary kindergarten teacher at Stoker Elementary. June Married Orson H.
Ellis on November 25, 1942, in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a faithful member
of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous
callings. She worked in the Nursery at the Salt Lake and Bountiful Temples.
She had a great love for music, family history, genealogy, fishing and
especially her family. Survived by seven children and their spouses: Kathleen
(Leland) Preece, Nibley; Virginia (Karl) Swensen, Orem; Beverly (Russ) Baker,
Pocatello; Marvin (LaRene) Ellis, Farmington; Robert (Diane) Ellis and Lenore
(Steve) Peterson, Woods Cross; Lethia (Steve) Smith, Centerville; 33
grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband,
parents, sisters and brother. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on
Thursday May 12, 2005, in the Woods Cross First Ward Chapel, 2064 S. 800 W.,
Woods Cross. Friends may call Wednesday evening 6-8 p.m. at the Russon

Ezzo, Wanda Banks Moser
Wanda Banks Moser Ezzo 1919 ~ 2005 Our beloved mother, grandmother, great
grandmother, Wanda Banks Moser Ezzo, age 85, passed away peacefully May 6,
2005. Wanda was born November 20, 1919, in Murray, Utah to John Jarvis Banks
and Elsie S. Walbeck. She graduated from Jordan High School in 1938. Married
Mario Joseph Moser in 1941, later their marriage was solemnized in the Salt
Lake Temple. Later divorced. Lived in Riverton and Midvale, Utah most of her
life with her husband Mario, where their family of 16 children was known as
the "largest crop" in town. Later retired to Ivins and St. George, Utah.
Married Louis Ezzo, widowed. Married Delbert Adamson, widowed. She enjoyed
singing, entertaining, dancing, and church activities. She had a sweet spirit
and loved her family. She is preceded in death by her husbands; son, Sherril,
daughter, Dawna. She is survived by her children; Holly (Rob) Stonehocker,

Fitzgerald, Sandra
Sandra Fitzgerald "Teeing Off" Our dear sister, Sandra Fitzgerald, finished
the 18th hole on her earthly journey, Tuesday, May 3, 2005, after a long
battle with kidney disease. She was born October 8, 1936 to Norman P. and
Madolin Brady Fitzgerald, the sixth of nine children. She grew up in Draper
where she developed many longtime friends. After graduating from Jordan High
School, she ventured out on her own to build a life and career. Fiercely
independent and private, she lived a very full life. Sandra worked for Job
Service in many capacities over her career, was dedicated to her job and the
people she served. During her years there she developed many lasting
friendships. She retired in 1992 to pursue the things she loved to do, most
especially golf. Sandra was an avid golfer, participating and winning many
tournaments as an amateur. Her golfing family will miss her as will her Job
Service friends, childhood friends, and family. Sandra is survived by two
brothers, Norman P. Fitzgerald Jr., Magna, UT; Barnard J. (Jean) Fitzgerald,
Yuma, AZ; three sisters, Doris F. Soper, Draper, UT; Madolin A. (Lin)
Fitzgerald, Salt Lake City, UT; Cheryl F. Alpuerto, Mililani Town, HI; many
nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; aunts, her golf family, and her
condo family. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kim; sisters, Barbara
F. Nowell, Betty Joan F. Curby; brother and sister-in-laws, Gordon A. Soper
and Tharine M. Fitzgerald. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 9, 2005
at 12 noon at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State St. A viewing will be
held Sunday, May 8th from 5-7 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Monday.
She will be buried in Murray City Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all
those who have cared for Sandra over the past several months. We hope, dear
Sandra, that you have tee'd off on the first of many golf tournaments on the
other side. We love you.

Gehrke, Walter Robert
Walter Robert Gehrke 1926 ~ 2005 Walter Robert Gehrke, 78, of EI Cajon,
California, had a massive stroke at his home and later died in the arms of his
wife, Marilyn, on March 5, 2005. He was a very devoted husband and father and
teacher of many subjects. He was born July 26, 1926 in Salt Lake City, the
fourth child of Fred Richard Gehrke and Augusta Theresa Tichelmann, who
immigrated from Koenigsberg, Germany, in the late 1800's, and were converts to
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and settled in Salt Lake City.
Walter was from an extremely active athletic family; and he enjoyed so much
going to watch his older brother, Clarence Fred Gehrke, play professional
football for the Los Angeles Rams (he designed the logo on the Rams Helmets);
and to play Handball and Golf with his next brother, Bill Gehrke (he helped
start the Pool Cover business); and then to go Bowling with his oldest sister
Ruth Gehrke (she won several championships). Many people learned to swim and
dive from Coach Gehrke at Liberty Park, Deseret Gymnasium, Nibley Park, old
Wasatch Springs Pool and the University of Utah; and he helped open the
Athletic Department at Olympus High School with Coach Bill Green and Coach
Carlos Asay in the early 1950's. Walt was a High School Teacher, which he
loved doing very much; and retired after teaching for 37 years, five of those
years in Utah and 32 in San Diego, CA., with the Grossmont Union High School
District. He taught Biology, Health Education, Physical Education and was an
Athletic Coach in Football, Basketball, Baseball, Water Polo and Racquetball.
In his youth and for all of his life Walt was an avid swimmer and diver; and
was a Water Safety Instructor for the American Red Cross for over 60 years. He
taught thousands of people, both young and old, to swim and to be safe around
water activities. Walter served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He was stationed in San Diego, CA and was a Medical Corpsman at the Balboa
Naval Hospital for over two years. At the end of the World War II, he returned
to Salt Lake City, Utah, and attended the University of Utah, and received his
Degree in Teaching and Science Education and taught in Utah for five years.
After teaching in California for eight years he was awarded a National Science
Foundation Grant and attended the Academic Year Institute at the University of
Utah and received his Master Degree in Science Education, and continued
teaching until a slight stroke stopped him teaching in 1988. Walt was
extremely active in various sports including surfing, SCUBA diving, skin
diving, fishing, skiing at Alta and Park City, and was a Ping Pong Champion in
Utah. He taught Oceanography at one time; and knew the California Coast Line
waters very well and shared this information with his students, friends and
many relatives during his lifetime; but especially with his wife and children
who were also very active in the Aquatic field. He was so loved by so many and
will be greatly missed. Walt is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruth
Orem Asmus; and brother Clarence Fred; and now by William (Bill) who just died
April 9, 2005. Survivors of Walt's family include his help-mate wife of 50
years, Marilyn Beehakis Gehrke; sister, Betty McCleary of Coos Bay, Oregon;
two sons, Robert Fred and Thomas Neal of San Diego, CA; and one daughter,
Lauralee Zimmerly of Pocatello, ID; two grandchildren and four
step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild; also numerous wonderful nieces
and nephews living all over the world. A Memorial Service will be held on
Saturday, May 14, 2005, at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake
City, Utah. A "Gathering" will start at 10:00 a.m., and Services at 11:00 a.m.
in the Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent in Memoriam of Coach
Walt Gehrke to the EI Cajon High Student Scholarship Fund, EI Cajon,
California. Interment of cremains will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4111
Avenue and "N" Street, in Salt Lake City. The date of this Memorial will be on
Walt and Marilyn's 50th Wedding Anniversary. And until we meet again, may God
hold him in the palm of His hand.

Green, Roma Cameron
Roma Cameron Green 1923 ~ 2005 Our loving mother, grandmother and great
grandmother passed away peacefully May 5, 2005 at Cottonwood Hospital. Roma
was born on January 12, 1923 to Daniel Eccles Cameron and Margaretta Dalley
Cameron. Roma married the man of her dreams, Don M. Green, on December 31,
1942. She and Don were sealed in the LDS Temple on June 18, 1964 and had 49
wonderful years together before Don preceded her in death. Also preceding her
in death are a sister, Arvilla (Billy) Kille and her parents. Roma taught
Primary for seven years. She was also set apart as a Relief Society teacher in
the LDS church. Roma worked for and then managed the Olympus Junior High
school lunch program for over 20 years. She enjoyed her job, and everyone
loved her. Roma had a special way of loving her family and friends and we will
all miss her very much. Roma is survived by her five children; Linda, Kip,
Gayle, Leah, Gina, 11 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren. Funeral
services will be 12:00 Noon Monday, May 9, 2005, at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary,
3401 S. Highland Dr. where friends may call one hour prior to services.
Interment will follow in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Mom is finally back with
the love of her life. We love you Grandma Green.

Gurell, Thomas H.
Thomas H. Gurell 1952 ~ 2005 Tom was born and raised in Southern California.
At nineteen, he served a mission for the LDS church in Dublin, Ireland.
Afterwards, he obtained an Associate degree from Utah Valley Technical College
and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Utah. He married Pam Mahan in
the Salt Lake Temple on June 11, 1981. Together, they are the proud parents of
Seth, Kaysha, and Avery. Tom enjoyed watching Star Trek, listening to the
oldies, and serving in church callings. The family expresses gratitude for the
love and support of friends. They would also like to thank Drs. Litton and
Nibley, Michael Gaffney PA-C, and their staff, as well as the Oncology unit at
Cottonwood Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May
9th at 5665 Neighbor Lane. Friends may visit beginning at 9:15 a.m. In lieu of

Hickman, Barton Harry
Barton Harry Hickman 1930 ~ 2005 Born in Tooele, UT, March 12, 1930. He was
the son of J. Harry and Mae Mortensen Hickman. He graduated from East High
School and attended the University of Utah. Bart married his high school
sweetheart, Margaret (Swede) Hanks, Dec. 1, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. He
worked for Standard Stations before serving in the U.S. Army. He was a
Commanding Officer of A Company 1457th Engineers in the Utah National Guard.
Bart was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company for 17 years in Sales, owned a
Real Estate Brokerage and Insurance Agency in Kemmerer, Wyoming, and Hickman
Realty in Salt Lake City. Bart and Swede have five children all raised in
Kemmerer, Wyoming. After returning to Salt Lake City, he was in sales for
Rocky Mountain Coating for 10 years. He enjoyed and participated in most
outdoor sports. He loved creating and caring for his beautiful garden and
loved to share it with everyone. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints he enjoyed teaching the youth of the Canyon View Ward in
Sandy. Bart has many friends and family who have been touched by his
generosity, love and affection in so many ways. He was always cheerful, fun
and encouraging. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Swede and their five
children - John (Esper), Kass Richins (Rulon), Jim, Sue Palmer (David), Andrea
Archambault, 20 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He had a very
special and fun family throughout. He will truly be missed. "It was a good
life with few regrets-time to move on"(He quoted). Funeral services will be
held Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at 12 Noon at the Canyon View Ward, 9119 South
1300 East, where a viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Hopkin, Stan Boyer
Stan Boyer Hopkin (Hawk) Stan was born November 7, 1944. He passed away May 2,
2005 at the age of 60. Surviving are Reed (Jan) Hopkin, Dawn (Charlie) Boyce,
Lynn (Caroline) Hopkin. Stan attended North Summit High School, Coalville,
Utah. He served in U.S. Army from May 1966-1972. He enjoyed fishing and
hunting. Stan lived and worked in Alaska for 27 years. He was the Owner and
operator of Tug and Barge. He also was the Chief Cook Alaska Pipeline, Chief
Cook NOA Research Ship, kitchen supervisor for crews building homes andschool
facilities at Eskimo Villages in Alaska, Chief cook Bradley Dam. Head chef and
Supervisor Crowley Marine Tug and Barge. A viewing will be held Wed., May
11th, from 6-8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 268 S. Main, Coalville, Utah.

Hurst, Ron Layton
Ron Layton Hurst "Good Humor Man" Ron "Bob" Hurst, 84, passed away on May 5,
2005 in Salt Lake City. He was born at home in Blanding, the second of eight
children born to Ralph and Hazel Hurst on November 8, 1920. His grandparents
were Philip and Rebecca Hurst and Willard and Hattie Guymon. He was educated
and grew up in Blanding. He joined the CCC Camp in Bridgeland and then served
in the U.S. Navy. He worked in the coal and uranium mines of San Juan and
Carbon Counties and was also a long-haul truck driver and yellow cab driver.
He was a member of the LDS Church and served as a scout master. He was
well-known for his friendliness, his keen sense of humor, and for being a
"Good Samaritan." Bob was a gifted artist, giving many beautiful paintings to
family members. He loved animals and nature. He married Erma Powell on May 6,
1941 in Price; later divorced. They were blessed with nine children. He was a
loving person and very family oriented. Ron later married Helen Johnson, his
devoted and caring wife, on July 22, 1995 in Salt Lake City. Survived by wife,
Helen, Salt Lake City; children: LeAnn (Ali) Abdulrahim, Kuwait; Linda
Chatwin, Highland; Barbara Lynn (Harvey) Fullbright, Lexington, NC; Ron (Ann),
West Jordan; Carl (Ann), West Jordan; Suellen (Ed) Chatwin, Hillsdale; Harold
(Cindy), St. George; Robyn, Salt Lake City; Shauna (Rick) Wheatley, Veyo; 45
grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren;
sisters: Lenore (Ken) Ellett, Taylorsville; Jeanene (Jim) Miller, Salt Lake
City; sister-in-law, Marian Hurst, Taylorsville. Preceded in death by his
parents, grandparents; brothers and sisters: Quint, Hazel, Afton (Jess)
Grover, Harold, Ivan (Mary Ann); and two grandsons. Funeral services will be
Tuesday, 11 a.m., at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Family
members will gather at 9:30 a.m. prior to services. Friends may visit at 10

Lemon, Janet Madsen
Janet Madsen Lemon 1928 ~ 2005 Our dearly beloved mother, grandmother, sister
and friend passed away quietly on May 5th, 2005, at her home in Midvale, Utah,
with family gathered around her. Janet Johanna Madsen Lemon (76) was born in
Salt Lake City on December 28, 1928. She was the most loving, tender person we
have ever known. Never passing judgment on anyone, she was a wonderful
listener and counselor: loved by all who knew her. For years she served as
companion and counselor to numerous elderly women, who adored her. She
likewise cared for a great many appreciative children. She achieved excellence
in embroidery, tatting, and crocheting. She took pleasure in her hobby of
collecting dolls of every description. Despite polio, she fashioned numerous
dolls for the Primary Children's Hospital and many hand-crafted angels for the
annual Angel Tree for seriously ill youth. She was always active in the LDS
Church--in recent years serving as greeter in Relief Society and later in
Sacrament Meeting. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Harold J. and
Helen Sanders Madsen; her husband, Royal W. Lemon; a son, Glen D. Lemon; a
grandson, Christopher Nay; a great-grandson, Christopher Barton Mazziotti; and
a brother, Kenneth C. Madsen (and wife Ruth). She is survived by three
children: Dennis Lee Lemon (Marasue), Rosalie Ann Lemon, and Lawana Jean Lemon
Clark (John); and by six brothers and sisters: Harold S. Madsen (Mona),
Marilyn M. Shelton (Donald), Mary Lou M. Peterson (Roy), Evan L. Madsen
(Darlene), Winnifred M. Harward (Kent), and Miriam M. Chapin (Rod). Janet has
19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held on
Monday, May 9th from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Union Fort Seventh Ward, 6770 South
500 East, Midvale, Utah. The funeral will be held at the same location,
Tuesday, May 10th, beginning at 11 a.m. (viewing one hour prior to funeral).

Ruby Lloyd 1917 ~ 2005 Ruby Nell Malphrus Lloyd, 88, passed away May 4, 2005,
in American Fork, Utah. She was born Feb. 5, 1917 in Ridgeland, South
Carolina, the daughter of James Elais and Arminter Fleming Malphrus. She
married Jonathan Davis Lloyd on Aug. 25, 1945 in Savanna, GA. Ruby was active
in the LDS Church and lived in Newport Beach, CA, where she was a member of
the Corona Del Mar Ward for many years. She was active in the community and
was involved with Opera Pacific. She was an avid snow skier and loved tennis,
entertaining at parties, playing bridge, and trips with her family and
friends. She went on 25 different cruises all over the world. She was a real
southern lady, and had a most unique laugh. Survived by her husband, Jonathan,
New Port Beach, CA; two daughters, Joan Fjellstrom, Lehi; and Diane (Blaine)
Knight, Sandy; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, James
Malphrus, Albany, NY; sister, Clyde Potter, Mesa, AZ. She was preceded in
death by her parents and six brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be
Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. in the Wing Mortuary chapel, 118 E. Main,

McClure, Frances E.
Frances E. McClure 1924 ~ 2005 Our lovely mother, Frances E. McClure, died of
causes incident to age Thursday, May 5, 2005. Mom was born in St. George,
Utah, the last of 11 children. She married Frank Leslie McClure in the Salt
Lake Temple, June 18, 1943, and they had an idyllic life together. Throughout
her life, she and Dad were active in the Church and served a district mission
in South Dakota. Dad preceded her in death in 1999. She and Dad had four
children: Leslie, Aleta, David, and Cynthia. She also leaves behind numerous
grand and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call
on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East

Greta Wagstaff Mead 1914 ~ 2005 Greta Wagstaff Mead, age 91, passed away on
May 4, 2005 at a Fallon, Nevada Hospital. Greta, who was beautiful, loving and
giving has rejoined her Sweetheart Harold. She was born January 7, 1914 in
Salt Lake City to Albert and Susanna Stillman Wagstaff, and had lived in
Fallon for five years, coming from Salt Lake City. She was a homemaker and
also had worked as a Secretary at various medical offices and schools. She was
also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She brought
much joy and grace and will be missed by those who loved her. Thank You for
your love and laughter. She is survived by her sons, Kent of Fallon, NV and
Richard of San Francisco; daughter, Kathleen Mead of Salt Lake City.; brother,
Douglas Wagstaff and sister Maureen Kilpack both, Sandy, and by one
grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Thurs., May 12 at the Larkin
Sunset Gardens Chapel in Sandy at 2:00 p.m. Viewing time will precede services

Mecham, Delenna Bradshaw
Delenna Bradshaw Mecham 1921 ~ 2005 Delenna Bradshaw Mecham, 83, passed away
May 5, 2005, at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo. She was born
November 13, 1921, Hurricane, Utah, to Samuel and Mariam Ellen Bradshaw. After
her mission in Texas-Louisiana, 1942, she worked at the presiding Bishop's
office in Salt Lake City. She later moved back to Orem to work on her parents
farm. While working on a peach defuzzer she met her future husband, Orval
Mecham. They married September 22, 1947, in the Logan Temple. She was a
devoted mother and homemaker. Relatives and friends were always welcome in
their home. Orval passed away in 1998. Delenna graduated from Lincoln High as
Valedictorian and attended two terms at Brigham Young University. She was
involved in the Daughters of Utah Pioneer's. She was an active member of The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings,
including, Scouts, Young Women, Ward Relief Society President, Counselor in
the stake Relief Society, and a temple worker at Mount Timpanogos Temple. She
loved to grow flowers, make quilts, and loved to write letters, many of them.
She is survived by her children, son, James O. (Donna), Laramie, Wyoming,
daughters, Janice (Eric) Sullivan, Vernal, Marilyn (Robert) Moore, Salt Lake
City and a son, Brent B. (April), Sugar Land, Texas, 15 grandchildren, eight
great-grandchildren, two brothers, Willard (Carole) Bradshaw, Provo, Robert
Bradshaw, Orem and a sister, Mae Beth Luke, Kingston, Utah. She was preceded
in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Samuel Rawl. Funeral services
will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2005, in the Vermont 2nd Ward Chapel,
4th East 4th North, Orem. Family and friends may call Monday evening from 6-8
p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, and from

Mildenhall, Ben
Ben Mildenhall 7/30/1963 ~ 5/4/05 Benjamin "Ben" Ray Mildenhall passed away
suddenly, 5/4/05 in Arvada, CO while playing "hoops" with friends. He was born
7/30/1963 to Rae and Glen Milden-hall in Provo, UT. Ben grew up in Provo, UT
as little brother to Tom, Joe, Kurt, Scott, and Guy and big brother to Sarah.
He achieved his Eagle Scout while fostering his love of out-door activities.
Ben served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in
Japan, Tokyo North. A lesson he learned on his missions and continued
through-out his life was the joy of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Soon
after his return, he met his sweetheart Sheryl Lynn Smith and they married in
the Provo, UT Temple. Together they grew a loving family of five children
Charlene, Randy, Sydney, Erica, and Miquel while Ben completed his
undergraduate degree at Utah State University. Ben loved his family, neighbors
and friends and especially the youth. Ben is known by his family and friends
for his big heart, willingness to have adventures, and making people laugh.
Their home is always filled with teens and laughter. Ben is survived by his
wife, his five children; his parents and siblings. Viewing Sunday, May 8th
from 5 - 7 p.m. at Horan & McConaty 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, CO. Funeral
Monday, 9th at 11 a.m. at the LDS Church 12995 W. 72nd Ave Arvada, CO.

Shauna Lee Benson Putnam 1956 ~ 2005 Loving wife, mother, grandmother, born
July 23, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Leonard Daniel Benson and Carol
Marilyn McGavin died peacefully in her sleep at home on Wednesday, May 4, 2005
in Taylorsville, Utah. Married Leland Kent Putnam on January 13, 1977 in the
Salt Lake Temple. She is survived by her mother, loving husband, and her three
children, Daniel (Marti), Angela, and Kara and her two grandchildren, Amelia
and Max Putnam. She is also survived by her brothers, Craig, Brad (Sheila) and
Mark (Cindy) Benson and many nieces and nephews who love her. Shauna was an
active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the
Taylorsville 13th Ward. She was faithful in all her callings. Shauna was a
loving wife and mother who had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus
Christ. She was an example of perseverance and taking joy in the blessings of
life. No matter how high the mountain was for her, she knew the Lord was with
her. We will miss her, but we know that we will be with her as an eternal
family. Services will be held Monday, May 9, 2005 at 12 noon at the
Taylorsville 13th Ward, located at 1495 W Tamarack Rd, Taylorsville, Utah. A
viewing will be held at Memorial Estates, located at 5850 So 900 East, from 6
to 8 p.m., Sunday, May 8, 2005 and prior to the services from 11 to 11:45 a.m.
Interment will be at the Holladay Cemetery, 4670 So Highland Dr.

Rushton, Owen
Owen Rushton Zeke Owen "Zeke" Albert Rushton was born August 19, 1918 in
Hunter, Utah to Annie and Albert Rushton and passed away at the age of 87 on
May 2, 2005 in Mesa, Arizona. He was the ninth child out of 11 children and
probably the most mischievous. He married Wilma Wilkinson and later divorced.
On October 2, 1947, he was married to Carol Irene Williams and later
solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple June 15, 1953. Carol preceded him in death.
From this marriage he had five children, Patricia Rushton, Suzanne Borchers,
Delbert [Mary] Rushton, Cory [Karen] Rushton, and Lyle [Gary] Oliverson. He
has 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He is survived by his
wife Myrna from Mesa, Az. He was a high priest in the LDS Church. He, along
with his wife, Carol, served a mission in Winnepeg, Canada in 1981. He served
in the Army during World War II in Hawaii and Guadalcanal. After the war he
obtained his barber and electrical license. He worked for the Salt Lake
Veterans Administration Hospital, Hercules, and retired from Kennecott Copper
Corporation. For many years he worked two or three jobs, including barbering,
and had a strong work ethic. He was very physically active in his life. He
lived, breathed and ate baseball. He played on the "Rushton" team for the
County Recreation with his brothers and cousins. He loved to golf, ski, swim,
hike and travel. He loved doing anything with his children. He is remembered
in helping anyone in need. Many will remember him for being the life of the
party and now those beyond will realize what they have missed. We have and
will miss his love, support and humor. Funeral services were in Mesa, AZ.

Spigarelli, John Alonzo "Jack"
John "Jack" Alonzo Spigarelli 1944 ~ 2005 John "Jack" Alonzo Spigarelli, age
60, passed away May 5, 2005 at his home in Alpine, UT. He was born July 7,
1944 in Standardville, Utah, to John and Jennie Sudweeks Spigarelli. He
married Patricia Louise Mason, Dec. 22, 1973 in the Provo LDS Temple. Jack was
one of the first LDS missionaries to serve in Italy. He is a Vietnam veteran.
He earned his bachelors in Physics and his MBA from Brigham Young University.
He loved animals, enjoyed gardening and was an accomplished author. He loved
his country and its underlying principles of freedom. He was a devoted husband
and father, who make his family his first priority Survived by his wife,
Patricia; sons, Steven (Tressa); David (Rachel); Adam (Rebecca); daughters,
Donatella (Matthew) Harper; Cristina (Travis) Smith; Regina Spigarelli; five
granddaughters, his mother, Jennie Spigarelli; sisters, LaRue Spigarelli;
Melba (Bob) Henderson; Marjorie (David) Paur. Funeral services will be held
Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mountainville LDS Chapel, 165 N. 100
E., Alpine. Friends and family may call at the church Monday evening from 7-9
p.m. and also Tuesday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the
Alpine City Cemetery with military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. We
love and miss you, Dad!

Springer, Lucile Young
Lucile Young Springer Loving Mother and Grandmother Lucile Young Springer, age
90, was born July 22, 1914 to Leo H. and Elise Olsen Young in Salt Lake City.
She was married to George F. Springer on June 15, 1936 in the Salt Lake
Temple. He preceded her in death on September 17, 2004. As a wife, mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and neighbor, she is an inspiration of
tireless devotion. She leaves a remarkable legacy of unconditional love. In
her home she cared for the sick and weary of heart, finding time, space, and
compassion for all who entered. Lucile loved music - playing piano, organ and
singing. When her family was together, there was usually some singing, and
they all joined in. She played piano and organ in church callings for 50 years
and taught many classes in church organizations. Lucile is survived by five
sons and their wives; Gordon and Janna Springer, Alan and Tamara Springer,
Norman and Dana Springer, Calvin and Marianne Springer, Stan and Lucy
Springer, and by five daughters and their husbands; Diane and Farrell Yeates,
Kathy and Dick Benson, Jean and Paul Jones, Rosalie and Michael Davis, and
Nona Springer. She is also survived by a brother, Bruce Young of Burley,
Idaho, and by 45 grandchildren and 79 great-grandchildren with at least four
more on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a
daughter, Sylvia. Funeral services will be held at the LDS Forest Dale Ward,
739 E. Ashton Ave., (2335 S.), Salt Lake City, at 12 noon on Tuesday, May 10,
2005. Friends may call Monday 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple

Stout, Richard Lee "Dick"
Richard "Dick" Lee Stout 1934 ~ 2005 ST. GEORGE, UTAH - Richard Lee Stout, age
71, passed away early morning Thursday, May 5, 2005, at his home. He was born
February 13, 1934, in Pocatello, Idaho to Wendell Franklin and Dale Thomas
Stout. He married Shirley Ann Reedy on December 23, 1953, in Idaho Falls,
Idaho. Richard grew up in Boise, Idaho. He was flying by the age of 15. He
joined the Air Force in 1951 during the Korean Conflict. He was in the
National Guard and Reserves until his retirement in 1989. Achieving the rank
of Brigadier General. He joined the Federal Aviation Administration as an air
traffic controller and retired 34 years later as Regional Military Liason
Officer. Upon retirement, he taught Aeronics at Utah State University and
Dixie College. He was hired as Hurricane Airport Manager in 1995. As a result
of his achievements, the airport was recently renamed General Dick Stout
Field. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Utah Division of
Aeronautics for 55 years of dedicated service. He is survived by his wife,
Shirley Stout of St. George; three daughters: DeAnna (Jeff) Weaver, Holly
Stout and Kimberly Stout; three grandchildren: Annie (Mike) Lynch, Justin
Kilby and Hailey Bramlett; one great-granddaughter: Kaitlyn Lynch; brother:
Robert (Kay) Stout; two sisters: Bonnie (Steve) Wilkins and Barbara (Gene)
Starr. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Scott Wilkins.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 9, 2005 at 1 p.m. Spilsbury Mortuary.
Visitation will be Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to services at

Winkler, James David
James David Winkler 1959 ~ 2005 CLEARFIELD - James David Winkler, beloved
father of Brittany, Amilee and Christina, and loving husband of Corinna, has
left this world to join those in heaven. He will be remembered as an adept
pilot for Delta Airlines and for his honorable service in the United States
Air Force. Jim was born June 10, 1959 in San Francisco, CA to Rod and Norma
Winkler. Jim graduated from Wooster High School in 1977 in Reno and the
University of Nevada in Reno with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. After
graduation, Jim joined the Air Force in 1984 and flew F4 Phantoms. He served
in the Philippines for seven years and trained other F4 pilots in Victorville,
CA for four years. Then transferring to Holloman Air Force Base in Alamogordo,
NM where he was honorably discharged in 1996 at the rank of Captain to pursue
a career as a pilot for Delta Airlines. He was respected throughout the
community and was an active member of Faith Baptist Church. Jim had many
hobbies but his first love was flying! He enjoyed spending time with his
family by going to the cabin, fishing, hunting, traveling the world and
vacationing. Another favorite past time was his love of music, sports and
keeping fit. Jim was multi-talented and his many gifts included carpentry,
computer technology and constructing model airplanes. As Jim traveled the
world, so did his classic '79 Fiat. He was known to work on it frequently,
though it seldom drove the highways and local streets, it made a great resting
"pad" for the family pets. He was preceded in death by his father Roderick in
1984. Jim is survived by his mother Norma, his sister Susan Kurtz (Michael),
twin brothers Ronald and Donald (Sherrie), and his nephews Matt, David, Joey,
and his niece Michelle. Jim will be missed sincerely by those who knew him and
his compassionate nature. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 9, 2005
at 2 p.m. at the Faith Baptist Church, 2430 No. Fairfield, Layton. Funeral

Wissler, Iva Burrows Burnett
Iva Burrows Burnett Wissler 12/28/1919 ~ 5/2/2005 Born to Wilford Creeland and
Trieste Smith Burrows, in South Salt Lake, Utah. Iva was an avid golfer,
bowler and instructor, played for the Shamrocks women's softball team, worked
as a bowling instructor at the Ritz-Classic bowling lanes in South Salt Lake.
Member of LDS faith, great-granddaughter of Wilford Woodruff, the fourth
president of the LDS Church. Was a Utah resident her entire life. Iva is
survived by sons Steven D. Burnett, Scott K. Burnett (Marilyn) and daughter
Jan Burnett; sister Virginia Burton, brother Ted Burrows, identical twin
sister Evva Spencer (Bill), brother-in-law Doyle Yates, brother Dick Burrows
(Delores), sister Betty Withers (LaMar), brother Bob Burrows (LaReese);
grandchildren Steven Douglas Burnett, Jr. (Norine), Angela Bock, Shawn Daniel
Burnett (Debbie), Matthew Schenck, Sterling Ryan Burnett, Scott Beau Burnett
(Amanda); great-grandchildren Steven Douglas Burnett III, Nicole Burnett,
Jessica Burnett, Tyler Butcher, Zachary Butcher, and Sean Bock. Preceded in
death by parents, two brothers Glen and Ralph, two sisters Dorothy Holt and
