He was born on July 16, 1926 to Glenn Hamilton and Gladys Kirkman Allen. Glenn graduated from Woodbury College in CA in 1949 and became a public accountant. He met Ruth Johnson on April 1, 1949 and married her in Long Beach, CA on December 8, 1949. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple on July 19, 1956. He was a long time member of the LDS church. Glenn and Ruth served an LDS mission in Jacksonville, FL. Glenn is survived by his wife; five of his six children, Jeannette Sapp, Sharon Taylor, Norma (Tim) Barlow, Stan (Debbie) Allen, Steve (Christy) Allen; sister, Jeannine (Jerry) Neese; brother, John R. (Sherry) Schroen; 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, stepfather, daughter, Nancy Carol Allen, and a son-in-law, Randy Sapp. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Granite Park Stake Center, 601 E. Mansfield Ave. (30th S.). Family and friends may visit an hour prior to services at the church and also the night before from 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Mortuary, 5850 S. 900 E. Anderson, Oscar Oscar Anderson 1907 ~ 2005 Oscar Anderson, age 97, a caring, loving and gentle father and husband passed away on, Mother's Day, May 8, 2005 in Salt Lake City. He celebrated 77 years of marriage to Quma Lavina Larsen who survives him. At the time of his death, they were believed to be the oldest living married couple in Utah. He is survived by four children; daughter, Carroll Benson, Sedona, Arizona; son, Sherman O. Anderson (wife Marlene), Sandy, UT; daughter, Sally Whiting (husband Pete)Whiting, Billings, Montana; and John B. Anderson, Salt Lake City, UT. He was also the proud grandfather to 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Oscar was born in Glenwood, Utah, on September 20, 1907, the son of Andrew Anderson and Caroline Melisa Hansen, deceased. He is survived by a sister, Shirley Roberts and was preceded in death by brothers, Earl Andrew, Ole La V on and Valentine Anderson. Oscar lived in Richfield, Utah before until moving to Salt Lake City. He had many a fond memories of herding sheep for his father on the Fish Lake Range while living in Glenwood, UT. He was proud of a pioneer cabin that he carefully numbered and reconstructed in the West Hills to establish a homestead which still stands today. A self-taught carpenter he worked on several homes and buildings in the Salt Lake area including the State Capitol, St. Ann's Orphanage and the University of Utah. He later designed and built the family home in his spare time. His carpentry was of such fine quality that he did the finish carpentry on a Trans-Pacific racing (sailing) yacht. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening but his family always came first and he will be dearly missed. Although he suffered from cancer for several years he survived to take care of Quma and when he could no longer do so he decided to continue his journey. The family wishes to thank all those at Woodland Park Care Center and Odyssey Hospice who helped Oscar at this most difficult time. Beus, Glenn Sterling Glenn Sterling Beus 1965 ~ 2005 PLAIN CITY - Glenn Sterling Beus, 39, passed away at his home Saturday evening, May 7, 2005 surrounded by his family to return home to his Heavenly Father. He fought a fierce battle against colon cancer. He was big, bold and brought so much happiness to those around him with his grin. We will sorely miss him and his goodness. He was born October 19, 1965 in Ogden, Utah, the son of John and Fay Hadley Beus. He married Leslie Jean Petersen June 7, 1989 in the Logan LDS Temple. Glenn was a member of the Poplar LDS Ward. He served an LDS Mission to Denmark Copenhagen. He also served as a Scoutmaster, Cub master, Stake Young Men's presidency and Sunday School Teacher. He loved to serve, especially the youth. Glenn was employed by L-3 Communications in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is survived by his wife Leslie, children: James Glenn Beus, Seth Petersen Beus and Eli John Beus, his parents John and Fay Beus and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are 10 brothers and sisters Vicki (Ray) Stringham, Laurel (Vernon) Kirk; Brian (Leslie) Beus, Nancene Purser, Jana (Blake) Wahlen, Paul (Terrie) Beus, DaNette (Layne) Barnes, Janae (Wayne) Jorgensen, Shawn (Kim) Beus and Sharra (Matt) Call. Brunetti, Guy Joe Guy Joe Brunetti 1929 ~ 2005 Guy Joe Brunetti born Sept. 28, 1929 in Bingham Canyon Utah, to Tony and Mary Brunetti passed away surrounded by his family in Phoenix, Arizona, May 8, 2005. Guy married Lorna Dee Bateman April 10, 1949.They had three children Tony Mark, Mary Frances (deceased) and Deborah Ann. Guy's parents moved to Union Avenue in 1941. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1948 and was active in sports. Achieving all state honors in football, he received a scholarship from the University of Utah playing varsity football. Upon graduation he went into professional wrestling where he and Joe Tangaro were Tag Team Champions of the World. They wrestled as The Brunetti Brothers. He pursued a career in marketing with his son Tony as owner/operator of Swiss Colony, Primo Inc., and later owned the successful restaurant The Kings Inn in Sun City, Arizona. Guy was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Mary Frances. He is survived by his wife, Lorna, of 56 years, son Tony (Kris); daughter Debbie, five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; brothers and sister John (Pat deceased) Ross (Connie) Carmela (Bert)Laney, Salt Lake and Albert (Maree) Phoenix, Arizona; nephews, nieces and friends. Burningham, George Leland (Lee) George Leland (Lee) Burningham 1931 ~ 2005 KAYSVILLE - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and patriarch, passed away the evening of May 10, 2005, at the age of 74, following a valiant fight with prolonged illnesses. He was born on January 9, 1931 in Salt Lake City to George Leland Burningham and Ina Smith. He grew up in Bountiful and Holladay, Utah. He loved playing basketball and enjoyed playing varsity basketball at Granite High School, where he excelled despite limited use of his right arm due to a break suffered in a childhood horseback riding accident. He was sealed to Emily McDonald in the Salt Lake Temple by his uncle Joseph Fielding Smith on June 21, 1950. An athlete and three degree graduate of the University of Utah, he received his doctorate degree in Education. He was an educator and public servant all of his life. He served in the Granite and Murray school districts, and in the Weber County School District, where he created the Weber School District Educational Foundation, pioneering private funding and community support of public school initiatives. He culminated his career as the Utah State Superintendent of Public Instruction where he continued to work tirelessly for the welfare of Utah students. He also served in the Far West Lab, as a consultant for McConnell Ralston Davis at Stanford University, and as a member of President Reagan's Council on Public Education. He also served in the Utah State House of Representatives. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding numerous callings including bishop, high counselor, and other stake and ward leadership positions. His educational background aided in his service on the General Sunday School Board and Curriculum Committee of the Church. The love of his life was missionary work. Following an early retirement, he served proscelyting missions with his dear wife as his companion in the Tahiti, Papeete Mission, and the Zaire, Kinshasa Mission, where they were privileged to be the first missionaries in the Republic of the Congo, Brazzaville. They also served CES missions to Fiji and in Davis County. They later served in the Washington D.C. Temple. His family was his treasure. He loved to have his extended family around him where he could teach and share his testimony with them. He is survived by his wife, Emily, and children, Lee (Zan) Burningham, Bruce (Kim) Burningham, Marilyn (Kent) Critchlow, Janet (Steve) Rose, Brenda (Blaine) Fowler, Brent (Debbie) Burningham, 28 grand children and 16 great-grandchildren with four more soon to arrive, and siblings, Norman (Barbara) Burningham, Kathy Wilson, and sister-in-law, Peggy (Paul) Burningham. He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Barbara Burningham Izatt, and brother, Paul Burningham. Cannon, Sherry Ellen Sherry Ellen Cannon 1950 ~ 2005 Our loving daughter, sister and aunt passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 10, 2005. Sherry was born May 22, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Leslie H. And Mildred Harwood Cannon. She was a special spirit sent from our Heavenly Father. She knew everybody's birthday in the family and how old they were. She could make you laugh and frustrate you at the same time. Though she wasn't born perfect in this life, she can spend eternity with her mother, family and Heavenly Father, having endured the challenges she was given in this life. She is survived by her father, Leslie; brothers, Leslie Jr. (Anne), Randy (Karen); nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by mother, Mildred, what a joyous reunion they are having together. Degles, George George Degles 1924 ~ 2005 George Degles, age 80, passed May 9th, 2005 in his sleep at home in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born July 20th, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Nicholas and Kula Degles. He married Shirley J. Leonis, September 11, 1977 and from that day on never left her side. All of us close to him called him "Georgie Porgie." His zest for life, adventure zeal, and the love for Shirley made for a wonderful and exciting life. Georgie was an avid fisherman his whole life, an excellent skier up to last season, and a darn good golfer. He served his country and was a Sergeant in the Marines in World War II. He later joined the US Army and served for 27 years retiring as a Major. He worked as a buyer for Cystron Donner Electronics out of CA. He was a factory rep in Salt Lake City until his full retirement. Georgie and Shirley were fortunate enough to be able to travel the world over. Georgie will be deeply missed. His way of making everyone he met smile, his little songs from the past, and his very down to earth dry sense of humor were truly one of a kind. Ficklin, Randy Allen Randy Allen Ficklin 1959 ~ 2005 In loving memory of Randy Allen Ficklin, age 45, born August 22, 1959 in Las Vegas, Nevada and was a resident of Provo, Utah. His life and service inspired us all. Randy passed away in an automobile accident Monday night, May 9, 2005. He was the son of Fred and La Rae Isaac Ficklin of Salem, Utah. He leaves behind many friends, family, and loved ones who will miss him greatly. He is survived by his three children: Tyson Allen, Desirae Eileen, Kaylor Shaye; and his former wife, Belinda Kaye Ficklin. His siblings are: Kaye (Ficklin) and Mike Halliday of Springfield, MO; Terry Alfred and LeAnn (Slane) Ficklin of Salem, UT; Robert Isaac Ficklin of Provo, UT; Karla (Ficklin) and Scott Wallentine of Springfield, MO; and their families. Randy served a mission from 1978 - 1980 in the Aukland, New Zealand, Mission. He served as a Provo Temple worker and a Tour Guide at the Salt Lake City LDS Conference Center as well as many callings in his church. He was also a part time Seminary Teacher. Randy's passions included his kids, drumming, traveling, scuba diving, boating, flying, and exercising. Randy was an outstanding musician and accomplished percussionist. Randy lived a life full of service and righteousness. He sought to know and be like our Savior. He was one of God's noble and great ones here on this earth. Though we will shed many tears as we try to carry on without him, we are sure that Randy's reunion on the other side was sweet. Randy said often that "Family matters most". It is now our challenge to help each other to live worthy of someday being where he is. Flint, Blanche Anderson Blanche Anderson Flint "Called to Serve" Blanche Anderson Flint, age 86, died on May 9, 2005, in Salt Lake City. She was born on April 21, 1919, in Emery County, Utah to Boas and Catherine Christianson Anderson. She marred E. Dean Flint on April 3, 1942. Blanche served her country as a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II, and has faithfully served the Lord as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having been called to many positions including Relief Society president and Theology Instructor, and served two missions, to Florida and North Carolina. She is survived by her son, Edward D. (Diana) Flint, grandchildren Benjamin, Stephanie and David Flint, great grandson, Cody Fortner; her brother Raymond G. (Sally) Anderson, sisters, Katherine (Calvert) Ivie, Mary (Scott) Shephard, and Margaret (Robert) Harker, special daughter-in-law, Jolyn (Dennis) Dickerson, and hundreds of cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families, and the thousands whose lives were touched by her Christian compassion. Jacketta, Margje de Jong Margje de Jong Jacketta "Margaret" Margje de Jong Jacketta, age 92, passed away May 10, 2005 at her daughter's home in South Jordan, Utah, from causes of aging. She was born April 4, 1913 in the Netherlands, one of eleven children, to Cornelis and Adriana Versteeg de Jong. Immigrated to the United States in 1922 and lived in Salt Lake City most of her life. Married Antonio "Tony" Jacketta March 25, 1931 in Ogden, Utah; marriage solemnized February 9, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death April 7, 1994 after having shared 63 years together. She was an active member of the LDS Church all her life and held many leadership positions. She had an immediate love for any animal. There was a special area in the house for weak, sick, orphaned or homeless animals that were cared for with warmth and love. Everyone was always welcome in her home. Thank you, Mom, you've been there for each one of us. Your wisdom, strength and help showed us how much you cared. You will never be gone from our memories. She is survived by two sons and three daughters: Tony (Karen), James (Christine), West Valley City; Jeanine (Jim) Goodrich, South Salt Lake; Marjorie Davis, Magna; Rosalie (Tom) Hardcastle, South Jordan; brother, Adrian de Jong, Farmington; 27 grandchildren; 60 1/2 great-grand-children; 16 great-great-grand-children. Julian 1917 ~ 2005 Charles Louis Julian, 88, died at home on May 10, 2005, of causes incident to age. He was born March 23, 1917 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Pietro and Alaide Togneri Giuliani. He married Helen Singleton on January 21, 1939 in Salt Lake City, later solemnized in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. A lifetime resident of Salt Lake City, he attended city schools and graduated from South High School. His work as a trainman for the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad spanned more than 30 years. Following his retirement, he and Helen served an LDS mission in Rome, Italy. He will be remembered for his love of family, gardening, and learning, and for his wisdom, optimism, integrity, and generosity. His is survived by his wife, Helen, two daughters, Kathleen (Steven G.) Boyer and Sue Ann (John N.) Oblad, and a sister, Sue G. Neve, all of Salt Lake City. Nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive him. Lee, Wallace Glen Wallace Glen Lee St. George, Utah Wallace Glen Lee, artist and retired dentist, 71, of St. George, Utah, passed away May 10, 2005, at his home in St. George, with the same dignity and peace that characterized his entire life. He was born on June 16, 1933, in Panguitch, Utah, to Glen Steele and Mary Schow Lee. He graduated from Panguitch High School, attended Branch Agriculture College (now Southern Utah University), and graduated from Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Lee was a devoted husband and father and this was always his first priority in life. He married Joan Adele Adams on September, 12, 1953, in the St. George LDS Temple. They had three children, Wallace Adams (Kelly) Lee, Panguitch; Dr. David Glen (Sylvia) Lee, Lindon; and Joyce Adele Lee, who died in an accident in 1978 at the age of 13. Wallace was a high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Dr. Lee practiced dentistry for 32 years in his hometown of Panguitch, Utah, where he was active in community affairs and various civic organizations, including two terms as Mayor. He was appointed by Governors Rampton and Matheson to the Governor's Advisory Council for Community Affairs, and was a member of the board of directors of the Utah League of Cities and Towns. He was a regional director of Zions First National Bank. He served as president and secretary of the Southern Utah District dental society and for many years served as a delegate to the governing body of the Utah Dental Association. In 1987, he received the Southern Utah Honors Medallion for Community Service at Southern Utah University. Wallace retired from dentistry after 32 years in practice, in 1989, at the age of 56, and moved to St. George to pursue a life-long dream of becoming an artist. He became well known for his portraits and paintings of southern Utah and southwestern landscapes. He was adept in watercolor, oil and pastels. He was an adjunct professor of art at Dixie State College, taught private workshops in art, and received local and national acclaim for his artwork. Wallace is survived by his wife and sons, a brother, Dick (Donnette Lee, St. George; and a sister, Eleanor (J.R.) Judd, Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter. Leota Jr., Tapuvae Vaiola Tapuvae Vaiola Leota Jr. 4/4/1939 ~ 5/8/2005 After a long journey of endless patience, charity, love and humility, Our beloved husband, father and friend returned to his Heavenly home peacefully on Mother's Day afternoon. He will be welcomed with open arms by his parents, siblings, and his daughter Ramona. Dad was born in Samoa to Tapuvae Leota Sr. and Isapela Pili. He graduated from Kahuku High School in Laie, HI. He moved to California where he met his sweetheart Siulavai Salanoa, whom he married for time and eternity in the Los Angeles, CA. LDS Temple. They have six children, 25 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Our dad was a very hard worker, but due to his illnesses and ailments he was forced to retire in June of 2002. Dad was a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in all capacities including serving as a Bishop in Compton, CA. and again in Kearns, UT. Dad loved the work of the Lord and continually strived for the building of the Kingdom of Zion on Earth. Dad was a very loving, humble, and enjoyed life in a very soft spoken way. He was a man of few words, but his beautiful smile said it all. He was an extraordinary man and will be greatly missed by "ALL." His friends, family and especially his loving wife. Survived by his wife of 40 years Siulavai. Children, Jeffrey (Masi), Lillian, (Edward), Tulelei (Nina), Isabelle (Sui), and LeeAndra Victoria, 25 grandchildren and six great-grand-children. Raul was born in Cuero, Texas on December 21, 1922 to Rafael Martinez and San Juanita Ramon. Raul worked at General Motors almost 40 years. His greatest love was to share the love of God with everyone around him. He loved working with his hands, and loved gardening. He met his wife in Texas, Rose Martinez, who preceded him in death in 2002. Raul is survived by his loving family; two sons, Rev. Raul (Donna) Martinez, Jr., Alfredo (Maria) Martinez; one brother, Hermilo; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. McIlrath, Darrell Glen Darrell Glen McIlrath 1934 ~ 2005 BOUNTIFUL, UTAH -Darrell Glen McIlrath, 71, passed away Tuesday May 10, 2005 at his home from complications due to kidney failure. He passed from this life just as he had always desired, at home with his eternal bride by his side. Darrell was born February 3rd, 1934 in Centerville, Utah to William and Vesta McIlrath. He married Gwenda Lu Taylor on April 10th, 1953, later divorced. They are the proud parents of five children. He later married Carol Lynn Sipes on December 26th, 1985 in St. George Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. He was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings. He also had the opportunity to serve his government as a serviceman during the Korean conflict. Dad had many loves of his life, he loved cars, birds; especially his prized pigeons and dove. He loved to fish and hunt with his family. Dad loved to tell jokes and pull pranks on people, he loved to make people laugh. He worked hard for what he had. Throughout his life he had been employed by Mountain Fuel for 15 years, Bountiful Dairy, Davis County South Valley Volunteer Fire Dept., Bountiful Fire Dept. and West Valley Fire Dept. He served over 40 years as a firefighter, with 10 years as the Fire Chief for both Bountiful and West Valley. He loved the brotherhood that he had with his fellow firefighters. On February 11, 1967, he married the love of his life, Mary Ann Flocchini in Pacifica, California. It was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Jim was an active member of the LDS Church. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Greyhound Lines after 30 years and 5 million miles of safe driving. He enjoyed driving so much that he continued driving charter buses for Le Bus, owned and operated by Dennis and LeAnn Copyak. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; his daughter, Christine Ann Gibby (John); and his granddaughter, Lena, the light of his life. He is also survived by his four brothers, Eugene, David, Joseph, Robert, and two sisters, Mary Ann Jenkins and Kathleen Ord. He is preceded in death by his parents. Peterson, Carol Jeanette Hovik Carol Jeanette Hovik Peterson 1917 ~ 2005 Born February 2, 1917 to Bernt F. and Lydia Nielsen Hovik. Graduated from South High School where she met and later married Grand LaVern Peterson on June 2, 1937 in Salt Lake City. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She fulfilled a childhood dream, in 1958, when she won first prize in a National Doll Dressing Contest sponsored by the March of Dimes. The judges were Eleanor Roosevelt and Helen Hayes. This launched her into the field of collecting and dressing dolls. Carol met other doll people and expanded her skills in dressing dolls to include many notable collections. She and other doll friends formed the Salt Lake Doll Craft Guild. The area in which she truly excelled was creating miniatures. Her miniatures were sold in the better shops and her creations were much sought after by collectors all over the United States. Carol spent many years teaching power sewing at a local college and writing study courses for State Department of Industrial Development. She opened her own business which she operated for a number of years. She later sold this to develop a line of miniature furniture. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Ronald, brother, Leon and sister, Blanche. Survived by daughter, Dionne (Dee) Williams and son, Kenneth (Susan) Peterson, sister, Norma Hesse, brother, Byron Hovik, 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Potter, Alfred (Al) Alfred (Al) Potter 1931 ~ 2005 Alfred (Al) Potter died April 22, 2005 at the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah of complications due to age while surrounded by his loved ones. Alfred was born May 15, 1931 to Charlie and Kate Kofford Potter. He was raised in Boneta, Duchesne County. Al served as a U.S. Marine in the Korean War and was the recipient of the Purple Heart award and numerous other military decorations. After the war Al began driving 18-wheelers cross-country. He continued in this profession until he retired. Alfred is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married Leona V. Salt in 1956 (divorced). They were the parents of four children: Katherine Oliai, California; Julia Potter, Salt Lake; Ernest W., Salt Lake; and Sharla (Dave) Torgerson, Salt Lake. Alfred has 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Al later married Jean Binkard (divorced). He spent the later years of his life with his wife Bonnie (Nita). The couple lived in Fielding and Vernal, where they loved to fish in the High Unitas. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, as well as his brothers; Carl and Warnel and his sister Pauline Hadden. Wilford was an active member of the LDS Church. Wilford worked at Kennecott Copper for 42 years and received numerous awards for his service. Della passed away almost five years previous and Wilford "Bill" has looked forward to their reunion ever since. The daughter of a Union Pacific Railroad Worker, she loved the years of traveling with her family during her childhood. She married Perry James Robinette in Walla Walla, Washington on July 1, 1950. They lived in LaGrande, Oregon until 1959. They moved to Salt Lake City and raised their four daughters. Her husband and her children were her pride and joy. She enjoyed her grandchildren, quilting, music, flowers, animals, and camping with friends. Sargetakis and Despina Vasilakis Sargetakis. Married Kaliope Katsanevas on 5/19/57. Steve's greatest accomplishment was the life he led despite the hardships he faced. Born in the coal mining camps of Castle Gate, UT, one of five children, to immigrant parents. Raised by their widowed mother and taught many values by his uncle Mike. Sold newspapers at a young age to help the family income during the Great Depression. Graduated from West High School in 1940. Joined the Merchant Marines in 1942 until 1948, serving during World War II, sailing around the world over three times. Seeking to become an employer and not an employee, he and his three brothers founded Silver State Suppliers in 1952. The company continues to grow, operated by his wife, Kaliope, and their three sons. He was an active member of the Greek Orthodox Church. Proud of his Cretan Heritage, he was a member of the Minos Chapter/Pan Cretan Assoc. One of his fondest accomplishments was being a founding trustee of the Hellenic Cultural Assoc/Museum. Rich in values he inspired others with his loyalty, integrity, fairness and love for America. Always a friend to the "little guy" he never forgot his humble beginning. He enjoyed time spent with family members, especially his children, grandchildren and nieces and nephews. His great fondness for people was heavily seasoned with his wry sense of humor. She grew up in Wayne County, moving to Salt Lake City with her family when she was 19 years old. She graduated from Wayne High School and Snow College. Ferne served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Texas/Louisiana from 1946-1948. She married David Dean Shurtliff in the Salt Lake Temple Sept. 14, 1948 - They enjoyed 56 wonderful years together. She was a dedicated, active member of the LDS Church and served in many stake and ward capacities including Ward Young Women's President and Ward and Stake Primary President. Ferne worked at Timpview High School as a secretary in the attendance office for 12 years and thought it a very choice experience. She loved family activities and especially enjoyed boating and trailering with her family and spending time at the family cabin. She spent many wonderful winters in St. George, Utah, with her husband and also enjoyed many great trips through her husband's employment. Grandchildren will cherish countless backyard memories. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and made many beautiful afghans and baby quilts for her family and friends. She married John Marion Simonsen, Dec. 16, 1948, in the Salt Lake LDS temple. They had 56 wonderful years together. They are the parents of five children. Her life was characterized by love. Love of her family. Her devotion to her beloved husband, her willingness and ability to teach and nurture her children, and her love and devotion to the gospel of Jesus Christ were hallmarks of her life. Rae was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many positions including Primary President three times, Relief Society President, counselor in the YW presidency and many teaching callings. Her years spent teaching the boys in Guide Patrol (11 yr. old boys) were some of her fondest. Missionaries held a special place in Mom's heart and she loved to greet and talk with them. Along with John they helped support many missionaries. She was ever ready to share her testimony to all around her. She did this in word and deed. Rae loved to serve others. Many were recipients of her kindness. She loved all kinds of handiwork and spent many hours making beautiful things for others including dozens of hand knit afghans for the humanitarian center. She also loved to quilt and pieced many beautiful quilts for her family and others to enjoy. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved being a mother and spending time with her children and grandchildren. We remember ball games in the back yard. We remember BYU ball games, she rarely missed a game until the last few years. We remember trips to the cabin. We remember the stories and jokes she told. We will always remember you, Mom. We love you. Survivors include her husband, John, Orem, UT; five children: J. Stephenson, Allene Davis Allene Davis Stephenson 1933 ~ 2005 Allene Davis Stephenson, 72, returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father's presence in her home on Tuesday, May 10, 2005. Allene was born April 5, 1933 to Ernest E. and Ivy Cloward Davis in their home in Salem, Utah. As a child she loved to sing and dance. While attending Salem Elementary School, she was involved in several school plays. She attended Spanish Fork High School where she also participated in school activities. She loved playing softball and being involved in the arts and musical events. After graduating from Spanish Fork High School and Seminary, she married her sweetheart, Wilbur A. Stephenson of Holden, Utah. They were sealed for time and all eternity on August 11, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. Allene was employed by the Nebo School District for 25 years. She worked as a secretary in the Spanish Fork Middle School and later became the purchasing secretary at the district office. She loved her work and enjoyed the people she worked with. Allene was very involved in the community. She was President of the Utah Women's Grocer Association, and served as President of Spanish Fork Theater and Arts Council. Her greatest joy, however, came from being a "Grandma" at the Canyon Elementary School in Spanish Fork. She truly loved the children. Allene had many interests which included playing the piano, singing with the Choralettes, painting, and working with ceramics. Family reunions, traveling, and camping with her husband and family were her greatest loves. She loved The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was very actively involved in many callings. She served in the Stake and Ward Young Women's Presidencies, and the Ward Relief Society Presidency. She also served as Ward organist, Primary chorister and accompanist, and as Young Women's Camp Director and cook. She also loved temple service. She loved and enjoyed serving her Heavenly Father and those around her. She loved everyone and was an example to all she met and worked with. We love her with all our hearts. Allene is survived by her husband and eternal companion, Wilbur A. She is survived by her son, Atapuai Taesali, of San Diego; sister Fa'aletupu Mulitalo of Herriman; two brothers, Iofi Taesali and Sofa Pula of San Francisco; two grandsons and a great granddaughter. She is deeply loved and will be missed by nieces, Ulu Masaniai and Noue Havea and nephews, Moliki Jr., San Francisco Tafaoga, Edwin and many more. She was born January 19, 1922 in Garfield, Utah. She worked for the telephone company in Salt Lake City for many years. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a member of the Utah Daughters of the Pioneers. Janet served a full-time mission for her Church in 1992-93. She had resided in Hemet since 2003. She is survived by her sons, Stanley (Kathy) John Arceneaux Jr. of Arlington, Virginia; Leonce (Janet) Marc Arceneaux of Hemet, CA; and Robin (Teresa) James Arceneaux of Washougal, Washington. She was the beloved grandmother of more than 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Thomas, Frances Gaylord Frances Gaylord Thomas ("Fran") 1912 ~ 2005 Frances passed away April 29, 2005 in Salt Lake City. She was born Nov. 6, 1912 to Edward and Emma Gaylord in Shaker Heights, OH. She married M. Donald Thomas Oct. 27, 1959 in Cleveland, OH. She is survived by her beloved husband Donald, their three children Marc Thomas (son) married to Judi Simon, of Chicago, Illinois; their children Elizabeth and Kaitlyn. Marcia Gladwish (daughter) married to Jon Henry Gladwish, of Edmonds, Washington, their children Anne, Katherine, Elizabeth and Virginia, as well as Micah, Frances' great-grandchild; David Thomas (son), married to Nancy Allf, Las Vegas, NV. Frances, a loving wife, supported her husband Donald for many years in pursuant of improving public education in Utah and throughout the country and the world. Frances was the wife of former Salt Lake City School Superintendent, M. Donald Thomas, a national recognized educator. After Don retired, he and Frances formed the Gaylord-Thomas Philanthropic Trust to support and improve public education and legal causes in which they believed. Frances served as an educational consultant with her husband for four governors, 10 foreign countries and in nearly every state in the United States. Her most important assignment was at the invitation of Mikhail Gorbachev to assist Soviet educators to learn Democratic principles. Earlier in Frances' life she served as an executive secretary for New York Life Insurance Company and was a former high school Home Economics teacher for Shaker Heights High School in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Frances was an active participant in the National Education Association and with her husband involved in the American Association of School Administrators, Phi Delta Kappa and South Carolina Association of School Administrators. Frances contributed to various Native American organizations throughout her life. She loved cats, sewing and Ohio State Football. Memorial services will be held at the first Unitarian Church on Sat., May 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. to Noon. Frances requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First Unitarian Church, 569 S. 1300 E., Salt Lake City, or to a charity that supports public education, or the ACLU. Tittensor 1916 ~ 2005 Edna Ellen England Tittensor, 89, died May 10, 2005 at her home in American Fork. Born January 6, 1916 in Plain City, Utah the daughter of Merlin and Florence Taylor England. She married Emmett Handy Tittensor in Ogden in 1939 their marriage was solemnized in the Provo Temple in 1990. Edna was a Seamstress and an Assistant Pharmacist for the Utah State Developmental Center, she was a Pink Lady at American Fork Hospital, and was an active member of the American Fork 8th Ward. Survived by her daughter Mrs. Fred (Diane) Wagstaff, Walsburg; two sons Dennis (Nanette) Tittensor, Sparks, NV; and Scott (Judy) Tittensor, Sparks, NV; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and her sister JeNeal Thomas, West Warren, UT. He was born January 12, 1964 in Murray, Utah to Clarence R. and Norma L. Whitlatch. He lived in Sandy, Utah and Salt Lake City, Utah until 1998 when he relocated to LaVerkin, Utah. He started a small trucking company and traveled the country extensively. Glen was dedicated to his work. He loved the outdoors and recreation. He was happy, outgoing, and always on the move. He loved people and spent much of his time helping others. He loved his family and will be missed deeply by his family and friends. Survived by his mother Norma Whitlatch; brothers, Philip (Tamara) Paul (Sarita); sister, Sandra (Gordon) Strader and many nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by his father Clarence R. Whitlatch.
