Baker, Wallace L.
Wallace L. Baker 1923 ~ 2005 Our loving father and grandfather joined his
eternal companion, Ivy, May 10, 2005 surrounded by his family. Born August 17,
1923 in Mendon, Utah to Abraham C. and Lola A. Pratt Baker. Married Dolores
France in 1948, later divorced. Married Ivy P. Fowler on October 5, 1957 in
Elko, Nevada, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Served in the
United States Navy during World War II. Active member of the LDS Church where
he served as Stake Young Men's President, scout leader, Ward Executive
Secretary, Branch Presidency, and various other church callings. He was a
loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, and introduced himself to
all children as "grandpa". Survived by his children Carol McIlrath, Arthur
Sipes (Jan), Dennis Baker (Valerie), Randy Baker (Ronalee), Karen Richardson
(Mike), Byron Baker (Kellie), and Matthew Baker; 18 grandchildren; 16
great-grand-children; brother Orson Baker; and sister Reva Bartlett (Bill).
Preceded in death by his wife Ivy; brother Clain Baker; sister Anona Knight;
and son-in-law Darrell McIlrath. The family wishes to express appreciation to
the care givers at the Veteran's Hospital for their dedication and compassion
in his health care. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 16, 2005 at
12:00 noon at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, where family and friends
may call Sunday 6-8 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to services. Interment at

Burr II, David Lyle
David Lyle Burr II Comic Relief David graced this world with his presence when
he was born to David Lyle and Rose Marrie Green Burr, on April 20, 1959. He
infected everyone he met with his contagious laugh and witty sense of humor,
until his untimely death May 10, 2005. He will be greatly missed by his
fiancee, Sabrina, his boys Draven and Gabriel, brothers DeWayne (Sonia),
Steven (Renae), Shane (Jenette), sister Christine (Dan) Gunn, dear friend
Mary, children Larry, Sara and many friends, nieces and nephews. Services will
be held Monday May 16, 2005 10:00 a.m. at the LDS Church located at 3450 W.
and 3100 S. Friends may call Sunday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Monday one hour
prior to services at the church. Interment will be at the Ut. Veterans
Memorial Park, 17100 S. 1700 W. Directors Independent Funeral Service.

Degles, George
George Degles 1924 ~ 2005 George Degles, age 80, passed May 9th, 2005 in his
sleep at home in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born July 20th, 1924 in Salt
Lake City, Utah to Nicholas and Kula Degles. He married Shirley J. Leonis,
September 11, 1977 and from that day on never left her side. All of us close
to him called him "Georgie Porgie." His zest for life, adventure zeal, and the
love for Shirley made for a wonderful and exciting life. Georgie was an avid
fisherman his whole life, an excellent skier up to last season, and a darn
good golfer. He served his country and was a Sergeant in the Marines in World
War II. He later joined the US Army and served for 27 years retiring as a
Major. He worked as a buyer for Cystron Donner Electronics out of CA. He was a
factory rep in Salt Lake City until his full retirement. Georgie and Shirley
were fortunate enough to be able to travel the world over. Georgie will be
deeply missed. His way of making everyone he met smile, his little songs from
the past, and his very down to earth dry sense of humor were truly one of a
kind. He is survived by his wife: Shirley, stepson: Rick Leonis (Donna),
stepdaughter: Robyn Edwards (John), grandchildren: Tannen Ellis (Joe
Colosimo), Vincent Leonis (Jessica), Stacey Merhish (Kirk), Kelly Edwards
(Brandy), Scott Edwards (Brenda), great grandchildren: Taitlynn, Nicholas,
Keaton, Kabe, Dane, Shelby, Rex, Cody, Quade, Niece: Stacia Carpenter (David),
Merrill and Katerina, nephew: Stath Degles. He was preceded in death by:
brothers: Thomas Degles and Mike Degles, sister: Mary Speer. The family would
like to express our appreciation to the IHC doctors and staff that cared for
Georgie, and for all the help Hospice for Utah gave us. Their compassionate

Durfee, Coy Lee
Coy Lee Durfee "Continuing His Mission" Coy Lee Durfee, age 71, passed away on
May 12, 2005 Born January 11, 1934 to Ralph and Venice Gagon Durfee in Leota,
Utah. Married Verna Jeanne Freston on August 18, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple.
He received the Silver Beaver from the Boy Scouts. Loved missionary work and
his pioneer heritage. Survived by daughters, Dora Jeanne Pulley and Cindy Ann
Carlson; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; siblings, Delsa
Wilson, Kay Durfee, Melba Bolton and Janet Durfee. Funeral services will be
Tues. at 11 a.m. at the Granger 6th Ward, 3274 South Hillsdale Drive. There
will be a viewing Monday from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S.
Redwood Road and Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Church. Interment: Valley

Gunnell, Sharron (Cheri)
Sharron (Cheri) Gunnell 1942 ~ 2005 Sharron (Cheri) Lee Hatch Gunnell passed
away peacefully at her home on May 11th. Born October 6, 1942 to L. Wayne
Hatch and Lavina Evans (Tiny Auerbach). Cheri possessed a character of quiet
grace and sincere understanding. She was widely read, a friend to animals, and
had a unique talent of bringing plants back to life. Those who knew Cheri will
miss her warm smile and charming elegance. She is survived by daughter
Jennifer Gunnell MD, Napa CA, and son J. Bradley Gunnell, San Francisco. The
Gunnell family extends their gratitude to the Wasatch 8th Ward for their
compassionate and generous assistance to Cheri in her final years. Services
will be held Monday, May 16, 2005 at 11a.m. at the Salt Lake City Cemetery,

Norma L. Hagen 1925 ~ 2005 Norma LaVon Hagen, 79, of Friendship Manor, 1320
East 500 South was pronounced dead of cardiac arrest Tuesday, 3:45 p.m. at the
Salt Lake Regional Medical Center. Born May 31, 1925, in Salt Lake City to
Albert O. Hagen and LaVon Mathilda Johnson. Member LDS Church. Survivors:
Brother; Albert L. Hagen, Orem, Ut.: two Nephews; David B. Hagen, Provo, and
Randall Lee Hagen of Ellicott City, MD: four nieces, Cheri L. Zornes of West
Linn, OR, Valerie J. Sucher, Gilbert, AZ, Andrea D. Holland, of Wilmington, DE
and Stephanie S. Marcellino of Raleigh, NC. Graveside Service: Saturday, 11:00

Harward, Kim
Kim Harward Will Be Missed Kim Reese Harward, beloved mother, grandmother,
sister and niece, passed away May 12, 2005 of complications of cancer. Loved
by all because of the kind, loving, gentle soul she was. She will be sorely
missed by all. Attended schools in Magna, including Cyprus High where she met
and married Larry D. Harward March 23, 1974. The marriage was later solemnized
in the Salt Lake Temple, they later divorced in 1981. She was proudest of her
three greatest accomplishments, Travis, Brian and Brandon. Kim is survived by
her loving sons, Travis (Stephanie) Harward, Brian (Jamie) Harward and Brandon
(Tina) Harward; grandchildren, Alex, Chase, Samantha, Taylor and Colton;
sister, Susan Reese Kinder; brothers, Richard (Edith) Hill and Larry (Mary)
Hill, and Aunt Beverly and Uncle Fred Lorenz. She is preceded in death by her
parents, Helen and William Reese. Funeral Services will be held Monday, May
16, 2005 at 1 p.m. at the Spencer 5th Ward, 3832 South 8000 West, Magna, Utah.
The family will receive friends at a viewing Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at
Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, and from 11:30 a.m. until

Kelsey, Elsie Limb
Elsie Limb Kelsey 1927 ~ 2005 Our beloved mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother died May 12, 2005 in Bountiful of complications following
heart surgery. Born December 24, 1927 in Beaver, Utah, she was the youngest of
eight children of Urban Van and Georgina Lang Limb. Her grandparents were John
and May Jane Stewart Limb and John Mickelsen and Annie Maria Ipson Lang. On
December 19, 1946 she married her eternal companion, Roy Easton Kelsey in the
St. George LDS Temple. They enjoyed 58 years together. This union was blessed
with seven children. Mother enjoyed being a stay at home mom devoted to her
family and championing people using their individual talents and pursuing
their dreams. She used to say, "You can be whatever you want to be". She was
from a large family who loved the Lord and cared deeply for each other. Her
pioneer ancestors had passed along many values to her. Mother learned at an
early age how to work hard and be grateful for the things she had. She loved
to do handiwork and achieved excellence in her knitting and crochet work. She
was a good cook and enjoyed being with her family and caring for their needs.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
and loved the Lord. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Roy and their six
children - Patricia Ann Greaney, Bonnie L. Kelsey, Stephen E. Kelsey (Mary),
Kathleen E. Hansen (Steven), Roy L., Dawna J. McKnight (John); 13
grandchildren and three great-grand-children. Preceded in death by her
parents, son Daren Paul, brothers, William, Melbrum, Wallace, Vestel, Ellis,
Muran and sister, Verda L. Parkinson. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m.
on Saturday, May 14, 2005 at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North
Main, where friends and family may call between 1 - 2:45 p.m. prior to

McKee, Reta Palmer
Reta Palmer McKee 1923 ~ 2005 Reta Palmer McKee, lifetime resident of South
Jordan, passed away peacefully at home on May 12, 2005, after a courageous
battle with Alzheimers. Throughout her long illness, she was surrounded by her
caring husband and family, who were blessed to be by her side. She overcame
many obstacles because of her strong spirit and love for family and life. She
never quit. She endured to the end and never complained. Grandma's house was
always full of love, music, treats, hugs, kisses and pampered kids. She was
born December 18, 1923, to Leo D. and Lucille MacKay Palmer, in So. Jordan,
UT. Attended Jordan High School, Class of '42. She married Jack McKee, April
8, 1949, in Evanston, WY. Together they raised seven daughters and two sons.
She shared her talents by playing the piano and organ at hundreds of
gatherings including weddings, funerals, church, reunions and family
functions. We feel a great loss and emptiness at this time, but her memories
will remain in our hearts and souls forever. She is a member of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survived by husband, Jack; daughters; Dee
Flangas, Kathleen (Roger) Powell, Della (Brent) Backus, Jackie Olsen, Darla
(Santos) Cruz, Jill (Ken) Ashley, Clifta (Dan) Davis, Sons; Larry (Renate)
Osborne and Joe (Sally) McKee; 28 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, one
great-great-grandson; sisters; Margie Thomas, Kay (Donn) Graham; brothers;
Dale (Iris), Glen (Nola), Guy (Linda), Van (Sharon) Palmer. Preceded in death
by parents, daughter LuRee, son-in-laws; Ralph Olsen and George Flangas,

McLaughlin, Herman W.
CSM Herman W. McLaughlin (Retired) 8/12/1928~5/14/2003 My darling Mick, two
years ago today, our Heavenly Father closed your weary eyes and took you in
his care. You left us blessed with beautiful memories and the knowledge that
you loved each of us unconditionally through the years. Although our lives
will never be the same until we are together again, know you are loved and
sorely missed each and everyday, and live on in each of our hearts. All my

Noyce, Wayne
Wayne Noyce 1917 ~ 2005 Wayne Noyce our beloved father, grandfather, brother,
friend, neighbor, and home teacher, died May 10, 2005 in Bountiful, Utah at
the age of 88. He left this mortal life fighting to live; however, he is now
re-united with his eternal companion. Though we will miss him, he is now free
from the pains and trials of this life. Wayne was born in Salt Lake City,
Utah. He married Lucile Pryor April 29, 1938. Their marriage was later
solemnized on April 29, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. Dad lived a life
sharing, caring, and loving all. He loved the Lord and was a faithful member
of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission with
his wife in Winnipeg, Canada. He was an honorable gentleman who would come to
the aid of those in need. There wasn't a car problem or engine that he was
afraid to tackle. He is survived by his children Kay Little (Ed), Tim
(Carolyn), Janis White (Norman), Joleen Carli, Garry (DeAnne), Richard
(Elaine); 17 grandchildren including Nathan Noyce serving a LDS Mission in San
Fernando CA,- Spanish speaking, and 15 great-grandchildren; brother Marvin and
sister Ethel Gold. He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Lucile, two
brothers and two sisters; one granddaughter and one great-grandson. Funeral
services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2005 at the Pioneer 26th Ward,
1145 W. 500 S. in Salt Lake City. Friends may call Sunday, May 15, 2005 from
6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. Bountiful, Utah and

Potter, Alfred (Al)
Alfred (Al) Potter 1931 ~ 2005 Alfred (Al) Potter died April 22, 2005 at the
Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah of complications due to age while
surrounded by his loved ones. Alfred was born May 15, 1931 to Charlie and Kate
Kofford Potter. He was raised in Boneta, Duchesne County. Al served as a U.S.
Marine in the Korean War and was the recipient of the Purple Heart award and
numerous other military decorations. After the war Al began driving
18-wheelers cross-country. He continued in this profession until he retired.
Alfred is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He
married Leona V. Salt in 1956 (divorced). They were the parents of four
children: Katherine Oliai, California; Julia Potter, Salt Lake; Ernest W.,
Salt Lake; and Sharla (Dave) Torgerson, Salt Lake. Alfred has 14 grandchildren
and one great-grandchild. Al later married Jean Binkard (divorced). He spent
the later years of his life with his wife Bonnie (Nita). The couple lived in
Fielding and Vernal, where they loved to fish in the High Unitas. Alfred was
preceded in death by his parents and his wife, as well as his brothers; Carl
and Warnel and his sister Pauline Hadden. Her husband Joseph Hadden and his
children have remained close to Alfred and his family. The family is preparing
a private memorial service.

Smart, Eldon Reid
Eldon Reid Smart 1930 ~ 2005 Eldon Reid Smart, 75, son of H.B. and Annie Reid
Smart, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2005 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Salt Lake City on February 19, 1930. Graduated from South High
in 1948, where he earned All State Honors in Football. Attended Mesa College
in Grand Junction, Colorado on a football scholarship. Married his high school
sweetheart Phyllis Pyper. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on
September 18, 1951. They were blessed with five sons and two daughters.
Retired from D&RGW Railroad after 44 years. Served in the following
capacities: Local Union Chairman, General Chairman, member of the National
Railroad Adjustment Board in Chicago and elected International Vice President
in Kansas City, Missouri. He loved all his church callings, especially the
many years he served as Bishop. Eldon is survived by his wife of 57 years,
five sons: Randy (Nancy), Rick (Cheryl), Darrell (Sheila), David (Abby), Jeff
(Kim), son-in-law Rory Boyakin (Lynn), sister Geraldine Capson, 35
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by daughters:
Janet Smart Boyakin and Nicole, grandson Bay Smart. Funeral services will be
held Monday, May 16, 2005, 12 p.m. at Valley View 3rd Ward, 4101 South 1925
East in Salt Lake City. Viewing on Sunday, May 15 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Larkin
Mortuary, 260 East South Temple and one hour prior to funeral services at the

Sullivan, John Wendell
John Wendell Sullivan "Grandpa Jack" BOUNTIFUL - John W. Sullivan, age 90,
passed away May 12, 2005 in Bountiful, Utah. He was born March 20, 1915 in
Kimberly, Idaho, the seventh son of Martin and Lula Bolio Sullivan. He married
Helen Lind, June 22, 1938 in Twin Falls, Idaho. They celebrated their 65th
anniversary just prior to her passing in July of 2003. After his retirement as
a Real Estate Broker, he was crossing guard for 17 years at Adalaide
Elementary School where he was endeared by the children as "Grandpa Jack". He
loved his horses and he loved the scouts. As a faithful member of the LDS
Church he served in many callings and varied church capacities. Survived by
his children, Mike (Kristy), Kathy Burningham, Vickie (Lynn) Payne, Coleen
(John) Toronto, and Paul (Karen); 22 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by a grandson, Todd and two granddaughters, Mary Beth and
Whitney. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 16, 2005 at 12 noon at the
Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main where friends may call from

Jeanette H. Utley 1915 ~ 2005 SEVIER, UTAH - Jeanette Hyatt Utley, 90, passed
away May 10, 2005 at her home in Sevier, Utah. Born, April 23, 1915 in Joseph,
Utah to Walter Franklin and Mary Jane Bradbury Hyatt. Married, Cecil Cleve
Utley, March 15, 1933, he died February 21, 2002. Survived by Children,
Lorraine (Jacob) Bosklopper, Cecil J. (Gerry) Utley, Morris M. (Gloria) Utley,
M. Rex (Linda) Utley; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three

Walton, Kent Allen
Kent Allen Walton 1940 ~ 2005 Kent Allen Walton, age 64, of Tooele, Utah,
passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2005. Kent was born on December 10, 1940 to Elmar
and Ethel Carter Walton. He married Tyla Johnson on December 24, 1974 in Elko,
Nevada. Kent is survived by his wife, Tyla; daughter Danielle (Adam); and two
granddaughters Rebekah and Samantha; and his mother; two sisters and a
brother. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services for Kent
will be held on Saturday May 14, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the Holbrook Mortuary,
3251 South 2300 East, where friends may call from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM prior to

Weichers, Clarence E.
Clarence E. Weichers 1914 ~ 2005 Our beloved Clarence Weichers, age 90, passed
away peacefully on May 10, 2005, surrounded by his wife, children, and
grandchildren. Clarence was born September 18, 1914, to Eldredge Lawrence
(Sharkey) and Annie Carruth Weichers. He married Orlene Olsen, who lived
across the street on February 20, 1935. They recently celebrated their 70th
anniversary. He will forever be remembered for his love of family. He cheered
everyone up with his positive spirit and inexhaustible supply of funny
stories. He is renown for his love of golf even until his 88th year. He has
the unusual achievement of eight holes-in-one in his lifetime. He worked for
the Union Pacific Railroad for 38 years. As a dispatcher, he made many
lifelong friends. He became active in the LDS Church in the early 1960's and
was sealed to his sweetheart and family in the Salt Lake Temple. At the time
of his passing he was a High Priest in the Monument Park 5th Ward. He is
survived by his wife, Orlene; his children, Merrill (Rosemary) Weichers of
Orange, CA, Mike (Suki) Weichers of Draper, and Sheri (Steve) Kettle of Salt
Lake City. He was also very proud of his 18 grandchildren and 28
great-grandchildren. His father and mother preceded him in death. The family
wishes to express special thanks to the wonderful staff of Alta Ridge Assisted
Living and Superior Hospice for their loving care. Friends may call on Sunday,
May 15, from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 E. 1300
South. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 16, at 11 a.m. in the
