Ames, Albert Eugene
Albert Eugene Ames 1918 ~ 2005 Albert Eugene Ames, 87, passed away May 12,
2005 in Salt Lake City. He was born April 9, 1918 in Lego, Bannock County,
Idaho to Hyrum Clark Ames and Hes-ter Saunders. He married Sylvia Mae Allen
(Keitman) March 11, 1964 in Twin Falls, Idaho. Albert was a beloved father and
an excellent friend. All who knew him came to appreciate his sense of humor,
loyalty, and strong sense of community. He had a green thumb and took a lot of
pleasure from tilling the soil and nurturing all things that grow. Albert
served in the U.S. Army and was a member of VFW and DAV. Member of Loyal Order
of Moose #259, Fellowship, Legion of Moose. Secretary of Moose Travel Bowling
League for five years. President of Moose Travel Golfers for 16 years. Drove
truck for Consolidated Freightways for 20 years. Daughters, Dorene Lund and
Kathy Handy; sister, Thelma Walker; broth-er, Hyrum Ames; and one grandchild,
Mark Lund, survive him. His wife, Sylvia Mae Ames, precedes him in death.
Albert's dedication as a husband can serve as an example to us all. His
friends, family, and especially his children will miss him dearly. Funeral
services will be held Thursday, May 19, 2005, 11 a.m. at Evans & Early
Mortuary, 574 East 100 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. Family will receive
friends one hour prior to services. Interment to follow at Larkin Sunset
Gardens, 10600 South 1700 East Sandy, Utah.

Bonza, Louis F. (Lou)
Louis (Lou) F. Bonza 1917 ~ 2005 Lou Bonza, our beloved husband, father,
grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away May 13, 2005 at his home
in the Sugar House area of Salt Lake City. He was born in Woodside, Utah, in
1917 to Fred and Ambrosina Bonza. He graduated from Carbon High School in
Price, Utah and went on to the University of Utah. He joined Lockheed Aircraft
Corporation in 1941. That same year he married his first wife, Mary Elizabeth
Beveridge of Price, Utah, and had two sons, Charles and Edward. Lou worked
until retirement at Lockheed in the Skunk Works as a key contributing
mechanical engineer for the high altitude aircraft designs of the U-2 and
SR-71 spy planes used before the age of satellites. He retired to Salt Lake
City near his favorite university, where he lived for the last 33 years.
During this time, neighbors, friends and family appreciated his active work at
fixing anything and everything. Many tried to stump him with a project and he
was pleased that somehow he always figured it out. After his first wife, Mary,
passed away, he was most fortunate to have a great lady named Gwen enter his
life and they have been married for 16 years. Traveling together to France,
South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia, they built a fine set of memories
and adventures. Lou is survived by his wife, Gwen; two sisters, Adele Carlow
of Price, Utah and Josephine Vieta of Salt Lake City; Chuck (wife Dale) and Ed
his two sons; and three granddaughters, Wendy, Tami and Nicole. Always looking
forward, friend to all, and always eager to help are just a few phrases that
characterize what people remember and say about Lou. We celebrate his life and
will miss him dearly. Services will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at 2 p.m.
in the Larkin Sunset Lawn Chapel, 2350 E. 1300 So., where family and friends
may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to services.

Couch, Shirley Elizabeth Jensen
Shirley Elizabeth Jensen Couch Well Done, Thou Good and Faithful Servant
Shirley Elizabeth Jensen Couch, 81, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2005 in
Nephi, Juab County, Utah. Born April 17, 1924 in Huntington, Emery County,
Utah to Rosel J and Flora Mabel Johnson Jensen. She graduated from North Emery
High in Huntington in 1942, where she was in 4-H, many clubs, plays, and
musicals. She was salutatorian of her graduating class. She graduated from LDS
Seminary and earned a Golden Gleaner Award. After graduating from Utah State
Agricultural College, she taught elementary school in Tooele County, Salt Lake
School District, and Granite School District for 16 years. She received a
Master's Degree from the University of Utah in 1969 and was a counselor at
Granite High School for 15 years, making a total of 31 years in education.
Shirley was an active and dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. She interrupted her teaching career in 1962-64 to serve an
LDS mission in the Florida Mission. She served in many positions in the Church
including the LDS Singles Program for 22 years. Shirley has spent her entire
life serving others, her family, church and education. She was a very busy,
loving and loved lady! Survived by her daughter Rebecca (Becky) and Doug (JD)
Roberts, Fairview; three grandchildren, Gregory (Cindy) Roberts, Salt Lake
City; Kimberly Roberts, Ephraim; Kristen (Steven) Hacking, Vernal; six
great-grandchildren, Tyler Roberts, Chad, Scott, Todd, Rick, and Karra
Elizabeth Hacking; four sisters Bertha Mae (Phil) Edmunds, Enoch; Joan (Jerry)
Huntsman, Sandy; Beverly Petersen, Salt Lake City; and Bessie Gay (Karl)
Burkholz, Salt Lake City; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by her parents, her brother, R. Zen Jensen, her granddaughter Lisa Dawn
Roberts, and her brother-in-law Elliott R. Petersen. Funeral services will be
Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Olympus 5th Ward LDS Chapel, 3030
Nila Way, Salt Lake City. Friends may call Monday, May 16 from 6-7 p.m. at
Rasmussen Mortuary, 96 North 100 West in Mt. Pleasant, and from 9:30-10:30
a.m. prior to services on Tuesday at the chapel in Salt Lake. Graveside
services will be held the same day in the Huntington City Cemetery at 4:00
p.m. The family would like to express thanks to Iris, Gary and staff at
Baker's Assisted Living Center in Fairview for the loving care they gave to
Shirley, and to Dr. Allen Day, for his care and concern. In lieu of flowers,
the family suggests donations to Alzheimers or Diabetes research or to the LDS
Missionary or Perpetual Education Fund.

Davis, Margaret Ann
Margaret Ann Davis 1928 ~ 2005 Margaret Ann Davis, age 76, passed away May 13,
2005 at home in Salt Lake City surrounded by her loved ones. She was born
November 29, 1928 in College Hill, KY to Carrie Maud Ginter and Dudley Clay
Berryman. She graduated from Irving High. Married Carl Davis in February of
1975 in the Salt Lake Temple. Ann enjoyed dancing, collecting dolls, Clark
Bars, and sitting in the porch swing. She organized Neighborhood Watch, worked
with the handicapped Boy Scouts, taught Sunday School at the prison and worked
in the Festival of Trees for 11 years. She always said, "Do Not Weep" "My
Children Are My Life." Survived by special friends and family, Carrie Ann,
Paul Dudley, Dorothy Katherine, Mary Esther; 15 grandchildren; 121/2
great-grand-children; Susan Fulsome, Terri Lerma, Jeff Jessup, Sonna Headrick,
the chatterbugs; and her beloved dog, Indy. Preceded in death by husband, Carl
Edward; brother, Buster; and daughter, Patricia Ellen. Funeral services will
be held Thursday, May 19, 2 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive
where friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 1-1:45 p.m.
Interment will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Ellsworth, Wilford Kenton
Wilford Kenton Ellsworth 1920 ~ 2005 Wilford Kenton Ellsworth, 84, died
Wednesday, May 11, 2005 in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii. He was born October 2, 1920,
to Wilford James and Cloketa Pickering Ellsworth, in Payson, Utah. He married
Louise Webb of Payson, Utah, on January 26,1946 at Las Vegas, Nevada. They are
the parents of two sons, Kaye Webb Ellsworth and Brad William Ellsworth. He
was educated in Payson schools and graduated from Payson High School. He
served his country during World War II, serving in General George Patton's
Third Army Corps of Engineers. He served in nine campaigns from Africa through
Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. Ken was a hard worker. He was a master
builder, having worked on many of the large hotels in Las Vegas, where he and
his wife lived for 53 years. He recently returned to live in Lehi, Utah. He
lived life to its fullest. He had a keen sense of humor and a love of life. In
his early years he loved to fish and hunt. He was nearly taken from us in 1990
when an aneurysm burst on his aorta. He had failing health since, but he had
great determination to live. He was a High Priest in The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints He is survived by Louise, his wife of 59 years;
his sons, Kaye Ellsworth and Brad (Lynette) Ellsworth; nine grandchildren and
three great-grand-children; two sisters, Evelyn (Curtis) Page, Payson and
Deanna (Gary) Stokes of North Ogden. He was preceded in death by his parents,
a brother, Howard Ellsworth and a sister, Verdene Page Wilson. Funeral
Services will be held Wed., May 18, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Walker Mortuary,
587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah where friends and family may call Tues.

Gunnell, Sharron (Cheri)
Sharron (Cheri) Gunnell 1942 ~ 2005 Sharron (Cheri) Lee Hatch Gunnell passed
away peacefully at her home on May 11th. Born October 6, 1942 to L. Wayne
Hatch and Lavina Evans (Tiny Auerbach). Cheri possessed a character of quiet
grace and sincere understanding. She was widely read, a friend to animals, and
had a unique talent of bringing plants back to life. Those who knew Cheri will
miss her warm smile and charming elegance. She is survived by daughter
Jennifer Gunnell MD, Napa CA, and son J. Bradley Gunnell, San Francisco. The
Gunnell family extends their gratitude to the Wasatch 8th Ward for their
compassionate and generous assistance to Cheri in her final years. Services
will be held Monday, May 16, 2005 at 11a.m. at the Salt Lake City Cemetery,

Loader, Virginia Bezzant
Virginia Bezzant Loader 1925 ~ 2005 Virginia Bezzant Loader, 80, of Pleasant
Grove passed away peacefully at her loving granddaughter's home (Angie
Tandy-Trammel) in Provo, Utah Thursday, May 12, 2005. Virginia was born
January 1, 1925 in Bingham, Utah to Glen Lloyd and Luretha May Smith Bezzant.
She married Forrest B. Loader in Provo. Their marriage was later solemnized in
the Salt Lake Temple. Forrest passed away in 1981. Virginia grew up and
attended schools in Pleasant Grove. Virginia dedicated her life to serving her
husband and children. She cared for Forrest for many years while he battled M.
S. She loved to be in her flower garden and won awards for her roses. Virginia
learned the value of hard work as a third generation fruit farmer. She was
very proud of her heritage and showed great respect for her ancestry. Virginia
was a good friend to so many and could see the goodness in every person she
met. She was an amazing mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She is
survived by her three children, Virginia Lee "Ginny" (Jerald) Chipman, Mesa,
AZ; Patrice (Hamani) Pooi, Provo, UT; and Joe (Maree) Loader, Salt Lake City,
UT; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren;
three brothers, Robert, Jim, and Cliff Bezzant. She was preceded in death by
two children, Gregory Loader and Suzanne Christensen. Funeral services will be
held Wed., May 18, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the LDS Chapel, 200 South 1100 East,
Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Tues. evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family

Moore, Alva Jefferson
Alva Jefferson Moore 1911 ~ 2005 Alva Jefferson Moore, 93, of Spring Lake,
Utah, loving husband and father, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 14, 2005
from causes incident to age. He was born July 15, 1911 in Go-shen, Utah to
Alva Jefferson Moore, Sr. and Lydia Catherit1e Jasperson. He married Ellen
Maxine Pay September 14, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple. Alva spent his early
years in Mosida and moved with his family to Spring Lake Christmas Day 1917.
He lived in the same home from that day until last summer. He worked for 30
years with the Utah State Road Department, but his real love was his farm and
livestock. He could still be seen last April mowing his lawn and caring for
his yard. He loved associating with the Payson Senior Citizens and telling
old-time stories to anyone with a listening ear. He and Maxine worked for many
years in the Provo Temple, a highlight of their lives. She passed away July
18, 1992. He is survived by his five children, Terrell Moore (Norma), David
Moore (Gae), and Joy Lynn Benson (Bill) all of Spring Lake, Kayleen Beebe
(Robert), West Valley City, and Gordon Moore (Kathleen) of Sterling, Colorado;
21 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his
wife, a grandson, three brothers, and three sisters. Funeral services will be
held Wed. May 18, 2005 at 1 p.m. in the Spring Lake Church, 12625 S. Spring
Lake Road. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary 587 S. lO0 W., Payson Tues.
from 6-8 p.m. and from 11:45 a.m.-12:40 p.m. at the church prior to the

Peterson, Virl Ewing
Virl Ewing Peterson 1923 ~ 2005 Heber City - Virl E. Peterson passed away
Saturday evening May 14, 2005 at his home in Center Creek. He was born July 8,
1923 in Center Creek, Utah to A. Ewing and Della Sweat Peterson. He married
Ellen Gardner May 28, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a high priest in
the LDS Church at the time of his passing. He served his country during World
War II in the U.S. Navy. He was in five major battles and came home unharmed.
Virl was a jack of all trades, he farmed, worked as a welder and an
electrician, also worked in the hard rock mines in Keetly, Utah, the coal
mines in Sunnyside, Utah, and the uranium mines in Grants, New Mexico. He
worked on the Duchesne and vat tunnels and hauled logs. He loved his job with
the Strawberry water users, because he could be in open spaces with his
horses, one of his greatest loves. He taught his boys how to work. His last
job was with the U.S. Forest Service. Member of the Heber Valley Riding Club
when it was first organized and also worked with the Search and Rescue under
Sheriff Floyd Witt. He was an avid bowler and outdoorsman. He served in many
capacities in his church including ward clerk, he loved the Book of Mormon and
knew it well. He attended schools in Heber until his senior year and graduated
from South High School in Salt Lake City in 1942. Survived by his wife of 58
years, Ellen; daughter, Julie (Larry) Tubbs, Neola; Brad E. (Shauna),
Duchesne; Bart (Carrie), St George; Bret (Kelli), Center Creek; 15
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Nai-da Bethers; and one
brother, Dallas (Joyce) Peterson. Preceded in death by parents; a baby boy;
two grandsons, Marc Virl Kohler, Cole Peterson; and three sisters. Funeral
services will be 11 a.m. Thurs. in the Heber East Stake Center, 2400 S. Mill
Rd. (1200 E.) Friends may call Wed. 6-8 p.m. at the Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home
and from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in
the Wallsburg Cemetery with military honors.

Pulsipher, Howard Dean
Howard Dean Pulsipher 1950 ~ 2005 PERRY - Howard Dean Pulsipher, 55, died
unexpectedly Thursday, May 12, 2005 in Perry, Utah. He was born in Logan, Utah
January 3, 1950 to Marilyn and Harlan Pulsipher. He was the second of 12
children and is survived by his parents and the following brothers and
sisters, Nancy, West Valley, Utah, John (Christy), Clifton, Virginia, Marie
(Frank) Montefusco, Davie, Florida, Dianne, Houston, Texas, Janet (Randy)
Lint, Sandy, Utah, Darlene (Randy) Jensen, Logan, Utah, Mark (Wendy),
Greensboro, North Carolina, Alice (Cory) Ball, Brigham City, Utah, Michael
(Jenny), Salt Lake City, Utah, Richard (Ruth), South Jordan, Utah, Craig
(Sheila), Twin Falls, Idaho. He is also survived by a daughter, Kelly Colbert
from Studio City, California. His funeral service will be held Tues-day, May
17, 2005, 11 a.m. at the Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham
City, Utah. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral

Stahle, Nora Atkinson
Nora Atkinson Stahle 1916 ~ 2005 BOUNTIFUL - Nora A. Stahle, beloved wife,
mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away May
13, 2005 at the age of 88. She was born September 1, 1916 in West Bountiful,
Utah to Charles William and Elizabeth Garrett Atkinson. She married Keith L.
Stahle November 24, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She attended Davis
County Schools and graduated from Davis High School. Mother had a deep love
for her family and was always there to encourage and comfort each one. Her
many friends were greatly blessed by their association with her. Mother's home
and gardens brought her great joy and comfort, and those who visited were
always warmly received. She loved to read, keep up on current events, and
appreciated good music. Crocheting, knitting, cooking, and playing the piano
were some of the activities she also loved. She created beautiful handiwork
pieces, of which many relatives and friends were the recipients. During the
course of her life, Nora was a devoted and loving caregiver, having attended
to her mother, sister, husband's parents, and especially her husband, Keith,
in the last years of their lives. She was an active member of the LDS Church
in the Bountiful First Ward. Mother had a strong testimony of the gospel and
its truthfulness. She was faithful in her church callings and served
unselfishly for 12 years in her ward and stake Relief Society Presidencies.
Nora is survived by her sister, Barbara (Scott) Rice; daughter, Alice (Craig)
Johnson, and their children, Walt, Wendy, Tracy and Heidi Beth; daughter, Mary
(John) Hepworth, and their children, Kim, Heidi, Christopher, Michael and
Jeffrey; daughter-in-law, Sharon W. Stahle, and her children, Susan, Phillip,
Paul and Allison; and 22 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her
husband, Keith; son, Richard; parents; brother; and three of her sisters. The
family wishes to express their deepest thanks to her devoted and loving
caregivers, Sherry Heap, Connie Smith, and Pam Hull, who attended to mother
during her extended illness related to a stroke. Funeral services will be held

Thurman III, Samuel David
Samuel David Thurman, III 1941 ~ 2005 Samuel David Thurman, III died May 10,
2005 in Salt Lake City of respiratory failure. He was born in Salt Lake
January 3, 1941 to Emeline Nebeker and Samuel David Thurman, Jr. He made his
home in Utah and California and traveled widely. He received his B.A. from
Stanford University and an M.S. in Library Science from Denver University. He
was law librarian for White & Case of New York City. David loved books,
classical music, good food, and the exchange of ideas. He kept nine parakeets.
He is survived by his mother, Emeline Thurman; sisters, Sally (John) Ware,
Salt Lake, and Sura Hart, Santa Barbara, CA; brother, Walter (Rita) Thurman,
Raleigh, NC; uncle and aunt Richard W.Y. and Marie Anton Thurman, Salt Lake;
and good friend, Neil Demsky, Salt Lake. A family memorial was held. Family

Tull, Alta
Alta D. Tull 1923 ~ 2005 Alta Delores Richards Tull passed away peacefully the
morning of May 13, 2005. She was greatly loved and will be missed by her many
family members and friends. Alta was born June 11, 1923 to Melvin and Rhea
(Gines) Richards in Kamas, Utah. She married Woody Tull October 23, 1943. They
enjoyed a full and happy life together on their ranch in the Kamas Valley.
Mrs. Tull retired from the Tooele Army Depot after 22 years of service. At the
time of her retirement, she was the Personnel Management Officer. Alta is
survived by her husband, Woody; sisters, Vida Richardson and Connie Soter;
brother, Bill Richards; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will
be held Monday May 16, 2005 at 12 noon in the Kamas LDS Ward Chapel, 100 West
Center, Kamas, Utah. Friends may call at the church Sunday evening from 6-8
p.m. and Monday one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the

White, Barbara Beesley
Barbara Beesley White Grandma Our loving wife, mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother, and friend, Barbara Beesley White passed away at her home
May 14, 2005 in Salt Lake City after a short illness. Born October 12, 1921 in
Salt Lake City, Utah to Fredric A. Beesley and Mary Hazel Bowman Beesley. She
was the sixth child out of seven. Belonged to the Bona Mi Shic Club since
1935. Graduated from West High in 1939. Barbara was an active member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Held many positions in the Relief
Society, Primary, and her favorite, Young Women. She was a faithful visiting
teacher until the end. Great-granddaughter of Ebenezer Beesley. She worked at
Beesley Music Company and loved good music. Took pleasure in giving, had a
heart of gold, shared what she had, and always giving money here and gummy
bears there. She was an excellent seamstress and made several wedding gowns.
Loved to be called the "Mending grandma." She cherished family affairs and
loved watching the children and grandchildren. She kept her sense of humor to
the end. She was a devoted wife to Donald G. White. They were married in the
Logan LDS Temple August 6, 1941. Survived by loving husband, Don; son, Dennis
D. White; daughters, Barbara Ann Thurman (Michael), and Janis Kearl (Aland);
17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two more on the way. They were
the love and joy of her life and they all loved her back; everyone believed
they were grandma's favorite. She is also survived by two brothers, Joe
Beesley and Dick Beesley. We are sure she enjoyed her reunion with her family
in heaven, especially her two sisters, Ruth and Betty; and her two brothers,
Jim and Bob. May God bless you until we meet again. Funeral services will be
held Wed-nesday, May 18, 2005, 12 noon at the East Millcreek Stake Center,

Young, Franklin Archibald
Franklin Archibald Young 1910 ~ 2005 Franklin Archibald Young passed away May
13, 2005. He was born January 25, 1910 to Archie W. and Belinda Robison Young
in Richfield, Utah. He was preceded in death by he wife of 75 years, Florence
Moulton Young. Frank worked on road construction from the age of 13,
throughout Utah, Idaho, Colorado and Neva-da. He was drafted into the Navy in
1943 and served two years in the Pacific. He served an LDS mission with his
wife in the Colorado-Denver Mission 1976-1977. He was an ordinance worker in
the Jordan River Temple for 10 years. Frank is survived by sons, Marden
(Gwen), Gareth (Paulette), Arlo (Marilyn); daughters, LaRee (David) Ross, Eda
Young, brother, Parley; and sister, Rachael. He has 14 grandchildren, 47
great-grandchildren, 15 great great-grandchildren Funeral services will be
held Tuesday, May 17, 2005, 12 noon at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W.
South Jordan Parkway (10600 So.) Friends and family may call Monday, May 16,
2005 at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley from 6:30-7:30 pm and one hour prior to
services Tuesday. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
