Cottam, Carol Brown Jorgensen Carol Brown Jorgensen Cottam 1949 ~ 2005 Carol Brown Jorgensen Cottam, passed away May 22, 2005 in Long Beach, CA after an extremely courageous battle with cancer. She was born on October 26,1949 Inglewood, CA to Clinton Olsen Jorgensen and Margaret Alberta Brown. On April 24, 1982 she married the love of her life, Kenneth Ray Cottam in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She is survived by her husband; father; sisters, Margaret Arm Rankin of Salt Lake City; and Rula Mary Jorgensen of Long Beach CA; brother, David Clinton Jorgensen of Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her mother. Carol graduated from Bonneville High School in South Ogden, Utah and attended Ricks College, Brigham Young and Fullertson Jr. College, earning an Associate Arts degree in Home Economics. But with her engagement and marriage to Ken, she truly began to blossom; she loved him with every particle of her being and it was abundantly returned. Their greatest delight came in bringing joy to one another; it was the kind of relationship about which sonnets are written. During the last five months of her life, as Carol became increasingly incapacitated, an angel of mercy disguised as her younger sister, Rula, moved in to render assistance. She toiled lovingly and tirelessly in caring for her throughout the remainder of her days, doing the work ten people with nary a complaint. Indeed, without her, carrying on at that point would have simply been impossible. Carol's love of God was an integral part of who she was, and she was a devoted member of The Church of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. She had the great gift of being entirely without either malice or guile. She seemed to have been born sunnyside up, and stayed that way. To hear her voice as she spoke was as refreshing and uplifting as a spring morning, with never a hint of whatever trial she might be passing through. Her delicious sense of humor was often self depreciating and contagious... it banished all gloom, even as it belied the depth of her beautiful soul. She was and always will be the sunshine of our lives. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 27, at 10 a.m. at the Long Beach Stake Center, 3701 Elm Ave., Long Beach. There will be a viewing on Friday, May 27 at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. preceding the funeral services. Interment at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, California.
