Born October 16, 1913 to Mary Elizabeth and William Q Anderson. Pearl was special to everyone, family, nieces and nephews. She was always there for all of us. She supported many in numerous ways. She had many friends over the years, near and far, and had many wonderful memories she could recall. She was a member of the LDS Church. She worked for Woolworth Company since she was 17 years old. She left home and went to Casper, Wyoming. She traveled and worked until she retired. She loved her home and enjoyed living there with her special little dog "Susie"! She lived a long wonderful life. She lived it to the fullest! She was the last living child of William Q and Mary Elizabeth Facer Anderson. Survived by dear nieces and nephews. At Pearls request no funeral will be held. Bell, Gwen Pickett Gwen Pickett Bell 1933 ~ 2005 After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Gwen Pickett Bell returned home to her loving Heavenly Father on the morning of November 21, 2005. Gwen was born in Providence, Utah, on May 14, 1933, to Ross and Mae Alder Pickett. Gwen is survived by her husband of 52 years, Lincoln Bell, and her children Bryan (Nancy), James (Stacy), Daniel (Marilyn), and Marcene (Kevin) Hunt. She also is survived by 17 grandchildren who she loved with all her heart and soul; Ian, Dezi, Michonn, Danielle, Nico, Luke, Collin, Taylor Anne, Torin, Jordan, Paige, Tate, Logan, Marnae, Seve, Aubrey, and Koby. Gwen is survived by her sister Maurine (Venal) Jones and brother Farrell (Gayle) Pickett. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Julia Campbell, a daughter Patricia Ann, and a granddaughter Tatiana Nicole. Gwen was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the Lord and served in many callings during her lifetime. She loved the Bountiful 29th Ward (Bountiful Hills Ward) and the many friends she made there. Her greatest calling and the one she loved the most was that of wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. One of the many events that she truly enjoyed was her 50th wedding anniversary to Lincoln. Gwen felt greatly blessed to have a second daughter come from heaven to bless her life. Marcene was a constant helpmate and provided angelic care to Mom and Dad. Marcene's brothers greatly appreciate the time, care and love Marcie has given Mom and Dad. Gwen spent many years in the banking industry and loved her time working at Utah Bank & Trust with many close friends. Gwen developed many talents during her life including sewing, stamping, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, scrap booking and cooking. Gwen was an intelligent women who loved to learn. She was constantly reading books of all sorts trying to get an understanding of the world in which she lived. Gwen had a great desire to improve herself. Family gatherings were also events that brought her great joy. These could be for any purpose as long as the family was gathered around her. These gatherings brought the "cousins" together to enjoy grandma's home and love. Special thanks to the staff and doctors at the Huntsman Cancer Institute for their loving care during these past few months. Their kindness and carrying gave Gwen and her family great peace during this difficult time. Born Aug. 9, 1912 in Unterseen, Switzerland to Friedrich and Martha Michel Borter. Married Martha Abbuhl May 6, 1939 in Unterseen, Switzerland. Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Came to America in 1948. Employed with Granite School District for 25 years. His hobby was beautiful wood carvings. Evans, Elizabeth Jean Tyndal "Betty" Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Tyndal Evans 1921 ~ 2005 Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Tyndal Evans, 84, passed away November 18, 2005 in SLC, UT, following a long illness. Betty was born July 28, 1921 in Rockford, Illinois to John James and Edna Bell (Holtkamp) Tyndal. At age two, Betty moved to Beloit, Wisconsin and lived on Hackett Street. She fondly remembers being one of the "Hackett Street Gang" as she and her friends called themselves. Betty attended Lakeview High School in Chicago then moved to Batavia, Illinois, and graduated from Batavia High School. She attended the University of Illinois in 1940. In 1941, Betty began attending Evanston Hospital School of Nursing (Northwestern University). She graduated in 1943 and received her R.N. degree. It was at Evanston Hospital where she met the love of her life, Edward Alfred Evans, M.D. She dated him her entire senior year. He proposed at her Graduation Ceremony Dance June 14, 1943. Ed attended the University of Utah and completed his medical training at Rush Medical College of the University of Chicago, in 1942. Betty and Ed were married in Batavia, Illinois September 19, 1943. The happy couple moved to Salt Lake City, Utah after their marriage. Betty got a nursing job at Salt Lake Clinic, and Ed practiced medicine at the Intermountain Clinic. From here, Ed received his orders, and left for overseas as an army doctor. While Ed was overseas, Betty went back to live with her parents in Batavia, Illinois. She worked as a charge nurse on the Gyn floor at Passavant Hospital in Chicago until Ed returned home from the Philippines in May of 1946. Ed then did a three-year rotating residency at Northwestern, and upon completion, returned to Salt Lake City to practice as on orthopedic surgeon at the Intermountain Clinic. It was in Salt Lake City that Betty and Ed reared their three children. Betty was a wonderful mom and devoted wife. She enjoyed raising her kids, traveling, playing bridge with her friends, and watching her soap operas. An avid sports fan, she closely followed BYU, the University of Utah, and the Chicago Bears. Betty is survived by her three children, Christine Maniar (Haroon), John Tyndal Evans (Jeanine), and Edward "Widget" Alfred Evans, Jr. She is survived by four grandchildren, Alex Evans, Eddie Evans, Michelle Spikes (Damon), and Mark Evans. Betty is also survived by her niece, Susan Goodhue (Ed) and their two children, La'akea and Kaiao. She was preceded in death by her father, John James Tyndal; her mother, Edna Belle Tyndal; her loving husband, Edward Alfred Evans, M.D.; and her sister, Margaret (Tyndal) Jackson. Gandley 1930 ~ 2005 Leo Lawrence Gandley, 75 of Salt Lake City, died November 20, 2005. He was born January 11, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York to Thomas Francis and Katherine Cobb Gandley. He served as a staff sergeant in the U. S. Marines from 1951 - 1954. Married Victoria Amendolara on April 24, 1955. He retired from Dugway Proving Grounds in 1993. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Victoria. Sons, Leo Thomas (Jill) Gandley and John D. (Liza) Gandley. One granddaughter, Gabriella "G.G." Gandley. Sisters, Frances (Anthony) Romano and Rose Salvano. He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. Griffiths, Kenneth Albert Kenneth Albert Griffiths 1925 ~ 2005 SANDY, UTAH - Our loving husband, father and grandfather, Kenneth Albert Griffiths, 80, passed away at his home in Sandy, Utah, Nov. 19, 2005. He was born in Midvale, Utah on May 29, 1925 to John Griffiths and Libbie Luella Wimmer. He married Beryl Jones August 25, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. Ken followed his brothers Clare, John, and Derral at Jordan High as the Senior Class President. He was in the U.S. Navy for four years during World War II. Ken was a swimmer and known in Midvale as Kenny Griffiths, lifeguard at the Midvale swimming pool. It was only natural that he would teach others in the Navy to enjoy swimming and to safely make that jump off a large ship. Education was most important to him and he graduated from the University of Utah in 1950 and studied at Columbia in New York City where he received a Masters Degree. He worked in a neighborhood facility and with street gangs and ran the summer camp while there. He went back to school as his family of boys, Mark Kenneth, Evan Jones, Ross Wimmer, Neal Clarke and Paul Joseph Griffiths, were growing up. Ken spent most of his life in the Salt Lake Valley always serving and helping others whenever he could. He trained to counsel and to guide as a Social Worker and educator. He was Superintendent of the Salt Lake County Detention Home and helped establish a better program and facility for the youth of Salt Lake County. He began teaching in the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Utah in 1954. He did counseling in Ft. Duchesne and loved his association there. He also counseled in most towns that were served by the center in Richfield, Utah. Many were helped by his expertise and loving spirit. After he graduated a second time from the University of Utah with an PHD, he contributed much to his chosen serving profession. He established an Alaskan program where he and his colleges helped high school drop outs. He helped establish a Native American Social Work Program where many wonderful people were trained to help in their home tribes and areas. This included training the people in Australia he served where he taught at W.A.I.T. University. He also served Peace Corps as an assessment officer for Ethiopia and assessed the program there. Scouting was important to Ken as he trained many young men. His troop from Midvale excelled in many scout skills and jamborees. He also had a troop in Butler and his 5 sons all earned the rank of Eagle. In his spare time he ran a small orchard. He loved to fish and hunt with his family and friends, especially in Alaska. Ken was an active member of the Latter-day Saint Church. He served as Bishop and Stake Counselor in the Butler Stake and Patriarch in the Butler and Draper, Utah Crescentview stakes. He also served many teaching positions in Butler, Sandy, Marriott and Perth, Australia. He was Mission President in the Albuquerque, New Mexico Mission and served missions in Fort Apache, Arizona, Salt Lake Inner City and a repeat to Fort Apache where his health cut this two-year mission in half. Ken and Beryl spent 53 wonderful years together supported by their sons and their wives, Evan and Shannon, Ross and Cynthia, Neal and Laura, Paul and Sarah; sisters-in-law, Jean Griffith and Dorene Jones; and brother-in-law, J. Clarke Jones. Grandchildren are Dan (Bibiana) Ben, Josh, Joseph, Ashley, Cam, Nick Mckenzie, Cody, Ty, Olivia, Alexis, Annie and Adam. Bennett, Jerris, Braydon, and Morgan he loved like his great granddaughter, Danielle. He is also survived by daughters, Kathy, Diena, Kaylene and son Johnny. He has many nieces and nephews whom he admired and were part of his family. Their oldest son, Mark, died at 17, and his parents and brothers are also deceased. She was born in Geneva, Idaho on February 7, 1923 to Frederick Arno and Dorthy Caroline Boehme. She married Lin Hines on June 14, 1941. Esther is preceded in death by her parents, husband, ten brothers and sisters and one granddaughter. She is survived by her sister Louise Aposhian, her five children Karen (Dee) Wright, Pamela Stell, Larry (Pamela) Hines, Claudia Ashby, Jerry (Shannon) Hines, ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Robinson, Elgie Mariam Moss Elgie Mariam Moss Robinson 1912 ~ 2005 Our loving mother and grandmother, Elgie Robinson, 93, was reunited with her eternal companion on Saturday, November 19, 2005. Elgie and her twin brother, Elmer, were born on October 17, 1912 to Abel Alexander Moss and Annie Lunett Jones in Mercur, Tooele County, Utah. She married Clayton Heber Robinson on June 4, 1936 in the Logan Temple. She spent her youth in Woodruff, Utah. During the summer months they lived at the Deseret Land and Livestock, where she helped her mother cook for the hay crew. In the winters they lived in town to be closer to school, where she helped her father, the janitor at the school. It was there she met Clayton who was beginning his teaching career as Principal of the Woodruff School. Elgie spent her life serving others and supporting her husband in his responsibilities in the Rich County School District and the community. Her greatest love was cooking, sewing, and quilting for her family and others. She enjoyed visitors and company and always wanted to feed everyone. She loved the people of Laketown, summer friends, and had a special spot in her heart for nieces and nephews. Elgie was an active member of the LDS Church. She served as the Laketown Ward Relief Society President, MIA President, Primary President and in many other teaching positions. Elgie and Clayton spent many years as guides at the Paris Idaho Stake Tabernacle and also in the Name Extraction Program in Montpelier, Idaho. Elgie is survived by her four children, C.H. and Phyllis Robinson, Herriman; Marian and Charles Ashcraft, North Carolina; Duane and Peggy Robinson, Laketown; Eldon and Jan Robinson, Laketown. Clayton Robinson, husband, John Robinson, son and Jaymie Beatty, great-granddaughter preceded her in death. She has 22 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Laketown Ward Chapel on Friday, November 25 at 1 p.m., Viewing will precede at 10:30-12:45. Searle, Gale E. Gale E. Searle "Till We Meet Again" Our beloved father passed away peacefully November 19, 2005. He was the son of Celestia Irene (Twitchell) and Orin Leo Searle, born in Lyman, WY, Nov 21, 1925. He graduated Delta High School 1944. He served in the 508th 82nd Airborne during World War II and made over 50 jumps including combat jumps into Germany. He married LuDeane (Twitchell) September 18, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. Retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 34 years of dedicated service in 1990. After retirement he drove school bus for Granite School District for 12 years. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served in many capacities including Bishop twice and Stake Patriarch twice. He had a great love of horses and drove his chariot teams to success well into his seventies. He recently had several successful racing quarter horses he has put into races all over the states of Utah, Nevada, Wyoming and New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, four brothers, four sisters, daughters, Joy, Gwen Ann and granddaughter, Megan Brown. He is survived by our wonderful mother and his wife of 59 years LuDeane, his daughters, Kathy (Danny) Idom, Bertha (Paul) Gray and Laurel Ann (Kim) Bigler, his sons, Rex (Kandi), Ned (Kathy), his brothers, Philo, Bill and sister Nona (Hess). He had 29 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. His great example of honesty and integrity will be missed. He will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his practical jokes. She was born on January 29, 1913 to Machiel Vriens and Gijsje Teunissen in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Catherine and her family immigrated to the United States in 1927 and settled in Ogden. She married Thijs Sipkema on June 30, 1933 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She fulfilled a mission with her husband to her native country from 1946 through 1948. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, four sisters and three brothers. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Westerman on January 27, 1946 in Elko, Nevada. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She always had a child-like love for family, birthdays and holidays. Wright, Ronald Wayne Ronald Wayne Wright 1928 ~ 2005 Our cherished, loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, Ronald Wayne Wright, died Saturday, November 19, 2005, of complications following surgery. Born May 28, 1928, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Wallace Bruce and Emma Moser Wright. Married Janice Gardiner in the Salt Lake Temple August 5, 1980. They had three daughters, who were the light of his life. Graduated from Blackfoot High School and attended Utah State University where he was active in student government and Kappa Sigma Fraternity, graduating with a B.S. degree in business. Commissioned officer in the United States Air Force. Served in the Korean War as intelligence officer. MBA graduate of Brigham Young University, where he became an avid BYU sports fan and later one of the first members of the Cougar Club. Accepted a position with American Hardware Mutual Insurance Company, cited as one of the top salesmen for over twenty years. In 1975, opened his own commercial insurance company which he operated until he retired at age 56. Member of the LDS Church; serving faithfully in many callings. Cherished his long-term SL Temple service. Ron's kindness to humanity was felt by many whom he helped generously. His gentle strength and calming influence will be greatly missed by those closest to him. Survived by wife Janice; daughters, Abby, Ashley and Megan, all of Salt Lake City; sisters Nevada Robards, Jackson, WY., and Donna Leebonow, Alder, MT. Preceded in death by parents; brothers W.
