Clark, Adam Scott Adam Scott Clark 11/5/73 ~ 11/18/05 Adam Scott Clark, born Sukdev Bhahadur, aka Kevin White, was born Nov. 5, 1973 in Santinagar, Bengal, India, of Nepali and Bengali parents, both lepers. He was abandoned to the Sisters of Charity at his mother's death, but at age 7, the Sisters sent him to a Dickensian orphanage in Calcutta called "Boys Town." His legs bore scars from a beating for having eaten fruit from a mission tree. He stole pennies to buy tickets to see Hindi movies. To rescue him from priestly molestations and abuse, Adam was included in a catalogue of boys available for adoption. Chosen because he played the violin, he left India in 1985 and was sealed to Scott Hancock and Mary Beth Clark in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Jan. 11, 1986. He played soccer on the UYSA "Red Devils" team, winning a regional championship. He was an Eagle Scout and attended Jamboree with Reid, his dearest bro.' He set Brighton High records on the track team and continued his affair with the violin. He served in the Mexico, Monterrey West Mission, in Monterrey, Saltillo, and Matahuela. He found Hector DeKoster, a five year old with a congenital heart defect and helped bring him to Utah to receive life saving surgery. Many of his best friends were Mexican Saints. He was briefly married to Tielynn Chisholm and later sealed to Nicole Chidester in the Bountiful LDS Temple. Caleb Adam, Caden Scott, and Cassandra Nicole were born to this union. These children were the light and purpose of his being. But he was tormented by the demons of his youth and he fought a lifelong struggle against bigotry, hypocrisy and clinical depression. Divorced, humiliated, despondent, and with an unfilled prescription, he lost the battle when he took his own life on Friday, Nov. 18, 2005. Griffiths, Kenneth Albert Kenneth Albert Griffiths 1925 ~ 2005 SANDY, UTAH - Our loving husband, father and grandfather, Kenneth Albert Griffiths, 80, passed away at his home in Sandy, Utah, Nov. 19, 2005. He was born in Midvale, Utah on May 29, 1925 to John Griffiths and Libbie Luella Wimmer. He married Beryl Jones August 25, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. Ken followed his brothers Clare, John, and Derral at Jordan High as the Senior Class President. He was in the U.S. Navy for four years during World War II. Ken was a swimmer and known in Midvale as Kenny Griffiths, lifeguard at the Midvale swimming pool. It was only natural that he would teach others in the Navy to enjoy swimming and to safely make that jump off a large ship. Education was most important to him and he graduated from the University of Utah in 1950 and studied at Columbia in New York City where he received a Masters Degree. He worked in a neighborhood facility and with street gangs and ran the summer camp while there. He went back to school as his family of boys, Mark Kenneth, Evan Jones, Ross Wimmer, Neal Clarke and Paul Joseph Griffiths, were growing up. Ken spent most of his life in the Salt Lake Valley always serving and helping others whenever he could. He trained to counsel and to guide as a Social Worker and educator. He was Superintendent of the Salt Lake County Detention Home and helped establish a better program and facility for the youth of Salt Lake County. He began teaching in the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Utah in 1954. He did counseling in Ft. Duchesne and loved his association there. He also counseled in most towns that were served by the center in Richfield, Utah. Many were helped by his expertise and loving spirit. After he graduated a second time from the University of Utah with an PHD, he contributed much to his chosen serving profession. He established an Alaskan program where he and his colleges helped high school drop outs. He helped establish a Native American Social Work Program where many wonderful people were trained to help in their home tribes and areas. This included training the people in Australia he served where he taught at W.A.I.T. University. He also served Peace Corps as an assessment officer for Ethiopia and assessed the program there. Scouting was important to Ken as he trained many young men. His troop from Midvale excelled in many scout skills and jamborees. He also had a troop in Butler and his 5 sons all earned the rank of Eagle. In his spare time he ran a small orchard. He loved to fish and hunt with his family and friends, especially in Alaska. Ken was an active member of the Latter-day Saint Church. He served as Bishop and Stake Counselor in the Butler Stake and Patriarch in the Butler and Draper, Utah Crescentview stakes. He also served many teaching positions in Butler, Sandy, Marriott and Perth, Australia. He was Mission President in the Albuquerque, New Mexico Mission and served missions in Fort Apache, Arizona, Salt Lake Inner City and a repeat to Fort Apache where his health cut this two-year mission in half. Ken and Beryl spent 53 wonderful years together supported by their sons and their wives, Evan and Shannon, Ross and Cynthia, Neal and Laura, Paul and Sarah; sisters-in-law, Jean Griffith and Dorene Jones; and brother-in-law, J. Clarke Jones. Grandchildren are Dan (Bibiana) Ben, Josh, Joseph, Ashley, Cam, Nick Mckenzie, Cody, Ty, Olivia, Alexis, Annie and Adam. Bennett, Jerris, Braydon, and Morgan he loved like his great granddaughter, Danielle. He is also survived by daughters, Kathy, Diena, Kaylene and son Johnny. Hawker, Marcia Rose Marcia Rose Hawker 3/26/50 ~ 11/21/05 Marcia Rose Hawker, loving wife, mother, sister, daughter and best friend was born on March 26, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas to Rose Alma and Irvin Still. She married Ken, her lifelong love and best friend, on July 2, 1970. This union was blessed with two precious daughters. Her physical body succumbed to the ravages of breast cancer that she had battled since 1994. She was released from the bonds of mortality into eternal bliss when she graduated from this life on November 21, 2005. While the monster of cancer conquered her physical body, her spirit soared victoriously into the waiting arms of her loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. After a lifetime of love and devoted service to family, friends and church she is finally Home, where she belongs. She now frolics, free of pain and the encumbrances of her disease, with her mother, father and grandparents who preceded her in the journey home. She is mourned by her husband Kenneth of West Valley City, and daughters Elizabeth (William) Conner of West Valley City and Dorcas Hawker of Arlington, Texas, who long for the day when they shall all be reunited in Heavenly splendor. She is also mourned by her five sisters, Lynette (Richard) Meneses of San Antonio, TX; Diane (Jim) Autry of Rock Port, TX; Dalyce Franks of Nacogdoches, TX; Paula Godfrey of Mobile, AL; and Laura (Angel) Suarez of Ft. Collins, CO; three brothers, Larry (Sandy) Still of Corpus Christi, TX; Irvin (Debbie) Still of Hondo, TX and Bobby (Melissa) Still of San Antonio, TX; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and innumerable friends around the world. Marcia was a caring, loving person who sought to exemplify the command of Christ to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and might. Love your neighbor as yourself." Until her disease robbed her of the ability, she loved to sing the praises of her Lord in the church choir and as a soloist. She learned to play the organ as an adult and served as a church organist for several years. One of her greatest joys was teaching the Bible to children in Sunday School from her early adulthood until her health prevented her from continuing this task. When asked what she would want to say to her friends and neighbors, she said, "Tell them I want to see them all in Heaven with me." Only eternity will tell the tally of all the lives that have been affected by her life. Though she has moved on to her eternal home, those who knew and loved her while she was in temporary residence here on earth will never forget her. Special thanks goes to Dr. Saundra Buys and the entire nursing and support staff of the Huntsman Cancer Center for their loving care and support during this long ordeal. Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 25, 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of West Valley City, 3831 South 2700 West where viewing will be held from 9:30 - 10:15 a.m. Interment will be in the Hawker family plot at Cory Cemetery in Orchard City, Colorado on Saturday, November 26th, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Mission offering through the First Baptist Church of West Valley City, Utah.
