She was born February 15, 1925 to loving parents, Frank Raymond and Edna Williams Poulton. Maurine was the middle of five children. She shared many wonderful memories of her childhood. She married Glen A. Bergstrom November 23, 1945, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They were wonderful parents to three children. She was truly devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren. She retired after 16 years of service at Deseret Medical. She is survived by her son, Glen A. (Judy) Bergstrom; daughters, Donna (Rallo) Oakeson and Gaye (Dennis) Moody, all of Sandy; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, brothers, Daryl Poulton, LaMar Poulton, Kenneth Poulton and sister, Donna Bates. Brownell, William Morgan William Morgan Brownell "Bill" William (Bill) Morgan Brownell, age 70, passed away September 30, 2005 in West Valley City. He was born July 12, 1935 in Scarsdale, NY to Louis M. and Eloise Morgan Brownell, Jr. Married Merle A. Kovatch March 16, 1985, in Reno, Nevada. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple March 16, 1998. Bill served in the U.S. Navy. Worked for Pipe & Tube and later Marmon Keystone here in Salt Lake. He was baptized into the LDS Church March 15, 1997. He enjoyed golfing and especially his family. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Merle A. Brownell; daughters, Debbie Hochbaun and Alice Mulcock; sons, William M. Brownell, Jr., Joseph Strong, David Strong, Matthew Strong and James Strong; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was born June 1, 1976 in Idaho Falls, ID to Keven Scott and Tammie Kim Warren Butler. He married Jennifer Gannon on March 16, 2002. "Daddy's little girl", Odessa, was born to them on December 22, 2004. Allan loved his family first most. He was a wonderful father, husband, son, and friend. Allan's greatest joy was found on the bicycle as an avid cyclist. He was noted as the top Utah cyclist for the second year in 2005 winning several various races throughout his career. Blanche was the daughter of Thomas and Emily Young Hardy Blair born Jan. 2, 1919 in Granite, UT. She lived all her life in Granite. She was surrounded by loving family at the time of her passing. She was born the daughter of Royal Richmond and Rebecca Olsen Selman on the family farm in Benjamin, Utah. She married Blaine Kenneth Cannon, June 30, 1951 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Beth was the family matriarch and was the glue that held the family ties in place. She generously loved all her family and friends and touched the hearts of many with her kindness. She loved doing outdoor activities with her husband and her pet dog, Tuffy, such as fishing, camping, rock hunting and gardening. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Kenneth J. (Kelly) Draayer 1911 ~ 2005 CLINTON - Kelly Draayer, 94, long time Clinton resident, died October 1, 2005. He was born June 30, 1911, a son of John Draayer Jr. and Martina Schipper. On December 17, 1930, Kelly married Ruth Briggs, his high school sweetheart, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They spent over 50 happy years together. Ruth died April 26, 1983. Kelly served his community both as an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served a mission to Holland and in a Bishopric, as well as a civic leader, where he served as a former Mayor of Clinton. Kelly was a successful farmer and cattleman. He had a passion for his horses and cows having an uncanny knack for training and taming his animals. Throughout the years, he had many winners in race and pulling horses. Besides his love for animals, Kelly loved good music, dancing and family outings. He also drove a school bus for 33 years. Kelly is survived by two sons, Clark (Bonnie), Sunset; Dennis (Norma), Clinton; a daughter, Linda (Jerry) Hogge, Clinton; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jeanette (Roy) Hatch, Manti. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie; and four brothers, Bud, Jack, Claude and Chris. Born November 25, 1926 to Everard and Enid Ellerman. Married Dixie Colleen Crutchfield on July 5, 1947. She died December 1990. Married Ilene Dot Johnson May 11, 1996. She died December, 2004. GEORGE, UT - Carene Erickson, 69, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 30th, with her family by her side. Carene was born on June 5, 1936, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Herman and Thora Spilker. She had fond memories of her childhood in Butlerville where she met and later married the love of her life, Thomas F. English in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1955. Blessed with 10 children, Tom and Carene worked hand-in-hand to provide an atmosphere of love in which their family has thrived. She dedicated herself to the service of her family and others in Church callings and other service opportunities. She left no doubt what she believed by the way she lived and the unconditional love she showed to those around her. Carene was preceded in death by her daughter Shirlene and later her husband Tom in May of 1989. In December of 1994, Carene married C. Wayne Erickson, and together they blessed the lives of both families. They loved each other and shared a deep friendship. Their passion was to cherish and nurture the combined family of 14 children, 36 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She is survived by her siblings: Marianne Wright, H. Escamilla, Pedro Martinez Pedro Martinez Escamilla 1959 ~ 2005 Pedro Martinez Escamilla, son, brother, uncle and good friend, passed away in San Diego on September 25, 2005, after a brief illness. Pedro was born March 14, 1959, in Tehuacan, Puebla, Mexico. Pedro moved to Salt Lake City to join his sisters in 1981at the age of 24. Pedro lived most of his adult life in Salt Lake City, but in recent years he lived in Las Vegas and San Diego. Wherever Pedro lived, he met people easily and quickly had friends from all walks of life. No place was this more true than in Salt Lake City. Regardless of the location or the situation, people invariably approached Pedro with a happy greeting. He was a kind and giving person who would do anything for a friend. The stories of his lifetime travels and experiences never ceased to amaze and amuse even those who knew him best. We already miss Pedro more than we thought possible, but the memories we share of our dear "Papi" and the things we've learned and gained from them will stay with us every day. Born December 12, 1913 in Bennion, Utah to John Tripp and Florence Smith Bringhurst. Rhea was one of seven children. She spent her early years working on the family farm and attending school in the Granite School District, graduating from Granite High School. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in numerous positions. She enjoyed a life of music that included opera in high school, church choir and was an employee of Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary singing at funerals for many friends, family and strangers. Rhea truly lived a life of love and service to her church, friends, and family. Rhea married her sweetheart, Walter James Nelson May 6, 1936 in Bennion, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Rhea was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years May 26, 2002, also by her three sisters and two brothers. He was born Nov. 25, 1913 in the Bronx, New York, to Adrian Meredith Reed and Florence Colegrove James of Mansfield Center, Conn. He grew up in Mamaroneck, NY, graduating from Rye Neck High School without missing a day of school. Always interested in athletics, he starred in soccer, and graduated from Cortland State University in Physical Education. In 1938, he joined the WT Grant Co. in New York City, and was transferred to Salt Lake City. In 1941, he married his sweetheart, Verda Leishman Hall in the Lion House. Through the efforts of the missionaries in New England, he joined the LDS Church. In 1948, he returned to Utah with his little family to be sealed together in the Logan Temple, and to organize the James E. Reed Co., specializing in the sale of mutual funds. A pleasant man, with undeniable charm, he devoted 17 years to the LDS Hospital Branch and also donated over 22 gallons of blood to the LDS Hospital Blood Bank. Quick to forgive the slights of others, he persevered in doing good deeds. His hobbies were varied - reading, golf, games, and chess, which he introduced to nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. We will miss his love, patience, knowledge, quick wit, great sense of humor, and his sign-off, "Everything is copasetic." He is survived by his loving and adoring wife, Verda, and daughter, Linda (Parley) Giles, two sisters, Adaline Morgan of Norwood, Mass., and Mary Katchke of Panaca, Nev., nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Roberta Susan, and two brothers, Adrian and Edward Reed. Tanner, Clay Smith Clay Smith Tanner "Together Again" Clay Smith Tanner, 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away from this life Wednesday, September 28, 2005. He was born November 26, 1918, to Amasa M. and Elizabeth Shaw Tanner. The youngest of 13 children. Clay was a Veteran of World War II, where he served in the Navy on both the USS Hancock and the Saratoga. He served an LDS mission to England. Following his mission, he married his eternal companion, Joan Adams, in the Salt Lake Temple, April 13, 1950. He lost his sweetheart of 52 years, July 8, 2002, following a fall. Clay worked for Frontier Airlines for 30 years and then for the Davis County School District for several years. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served faithfully in numerous positions from Branch President in South Dakota to Home Teacher. He especially enjoyed working at the Bountiful Temple and doing genealogy work. His true passion was his family. In the last years he has truly loved having his great-grandchildren climb on his lap to hear stories of his childhood. He has taught and lived the values of honesty, integrity, and unconditional love all of his life. Clay was preceded in death by his wife; daughter, Linda; parents; four sisters; and six brothers. Born February 21, 1925 in a taxicab on the corner of 1st Avenue and A Street in Salt Lake City, daughter of Thomas Billings and Myrtle Louisa Sperry Parry. She was a graduate of West High School and married Elden, her high school sweetheart, on December 23, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple. A member of the "greatest generation," she did her part by following her husband from naval assignment to assignment across the country working in positions vacated by those who were called to serve in World War II. An original member of the Rose Park Stake, she served in many positions including Stake and Ward Relief Society Presidency, Stake and Ward Young Women's Presidency, and teacher. She was the Secretary of the Brighton Girl's Camp for seven years and West High Seminary Secretary for 11 years. She loved quilting, embroidering, nurturing her flower garden, and especially loved her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Bill. Tullius III, Nemo Joseph Nemo Joseph Tullius III "Unkie" Nemo Joseph Tullius III, age 28, passed away at home September 29, 2005. Born March 11, 1977, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Nemo Joseph and Roseanne Asay. Married Amberle Jones March 23, 2001 in the Salt Lake Temple. Joe served a full and honorable LDS Mission in south Texas to the spanish speaking. He was an enthusiastic hockey player and a dedicated fly fisherman of extraordinary talent and knowledge. He was currently a student at the U of U preparing for law school. Survived by his wife; parents; parents-in-law, Mark and LeAnne Odekirk; sisters, Amber (Justin) Petersen, Autumn (Jeff) Mecham, Tiffany (Spencer) Minnick; sisters-in-law, Brittany and Tara Jones; nephews, Bryton, Karter, Jacob, Porter, Maclayne; nieces, Madeline, Emma, Lizzy; and his special Tanta. Woodbury, Joy Solomon Joy Solomon Woodbury 1927 ~ 2005 Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Joy Solomon Woodbury, age 78, passed away on September 30, 2005 Joy was born September 15, 1927 in Granger, Utah to Melvin Charles and Everean Nielsen Solomon. Married John Haskell Woodbury May 29, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death on March 13, 2004. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She spent many hours caring for and teaching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to have a great love for the gospel, music and literature. She was famous for her pies, chocolates, birthday and wedding cakes. Joy served in the Lions Club, PTA and volunteered at the Juvenile Detention Center. Survived by children, Jacquie (Larry) Jones, Johnny Woodbury and Julie (Larry) Romero; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Lavon Rogers, Cherril Mitchell, Ivie Hepner, Patsy (Jerry) Larson, Susan (Donald) Frei; brothers, Ray (Ilene) Solomon, Bryant (Joyce) Solomon. Preceded in death by infant daughters, Wendy, Christine and Laurie Elaine, and great-grandson, Gavin Jones.
