Boyer and Lois R. Wilde Boyer November 15, 1913, passed away October 7, 2005. On December 24, 1937 he married Lorene Brown in the Salt Lake Temple. Known as Bill to everyone that knew him, he will be greatly missed. Bill was a sheep and cattleman for most of his life. He started ranching with his father at an early age and was still riding the range until two years ago. He spent most of his summers in the High Uintas and winters in the west desert of Utah tending to his sheep. He served two terms on the Salt Lake BLM District Grazing Advisory Board. Bill was kind, patient, understanding, and always had a joke or story to tell. He had a charm and wit that stayed with him until the last day. He had many friends and never met a stranger. For the last 20 years Bill spent the winters in Yuma, AZ. His greatest joy was when his grandchildren and great-grandchildren would visit or call him. He always had a lollipop for them. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene; son, Lawrence; brothers, Edison, Faye, Vern, Lyle; and sister, Leah. Survived by son, Kenneth (Faye), Coalville; daughter-in-law, Lee Ann Boyer, Lehi; grandchildren, Russell (Wendy) Boyer, Stone ID, Ronald (Suzanne) Boyer, Coalville, Amy (Jason) Banks, Madera, CA, John (Mindi) Boyer, Saratoga Springs, Christie (Robert) Ferguson, Lehi; and 11 great-grandchildren. Coulam, Merla Rosetta Orton Merla Rosetta Orton Coulam Together Forever KAYSVILLE - Merla Rosetta Orton Coulam, 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home Saturday, October 8, 2005. She was born June 13, 1917 in Chesterfield, Idaho to John Barnett and Ethel Loveland Orton. She married Jesse Pitcher Coulam December 23, 1939. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1940. Jesse passed away in May 2001. Merla was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served faithfully in many callings. Merla worked with the Davis County School Food program for 21 years. She enjoyed canning and working with fresh fruits and vegetables. Merla had a green thumb with houseplants and was known for her beautiful African violets. She was generous and caring towards everyone. Her greatest joy, though, was her family. Merla is survived by her children, Linda (Orwin) Draney, Kaysville, John (Shirley) Coulam, Sun City, CA, Neva (David) Lenz, Melba, ID, and Brent Coulam, Layton; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; eight great great-grandchildren; and her sister, Glenna Jenks, Mesa, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse; brothers, Otis Orton, and Roscoe Orton; and sisters, Zelma Hatch, Jolene Lenz and Ethel Orton. Foley, Thomas Francis Thomas Francis Foley 1916 ~ 2005 Thomas "Bob" Francis Foley passed away October 7, 2005 in Cedar City, Utah. He was born December 18, 1916 in Watertown, Massachusetts to David A. and Florence Lendt Thompson. He had three older brothers, Ralph, Howard, and Harold. When he was very young, his mother remarried, and he was adopted by John W. Foley. He grew up in Moberly, Missouri and enjoyed and excelled in football, basketball, and track. After Junior College in Memphis, Tennessee, he and a roommate hitchhiked to Alabama in 1940 to join the Army Air Corps (which later became the Air Force). He was a bomber pilot, and served in China during World War II. His plane was shot down once and he and his crew escaped capture. He later flew in the Berlin Airlift in Germany, the Korean War, and the Strategic Air Command. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1960. Tom met Mary Leone Haight while in Germany, and they were later married in Cedar City, Utah. They lived in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Cedar City, Utah, and Salt Lake City, Utah. He loved Mary Leone very much, and always spoke of their wonderful life together. He often expressed how blessed he was to meet and marry her - "the smartest thing I ever did!" After retiring from the Air Force, Tom finished his college education and taught 5th grade at Whittier Elementary in Salt Lake City for 18 years. After retiring from school teaching, the Foley family moved back to Cedar City. He was a regular volunteer at the Veteran's Hospital, in Salt Lake City, and a member of the Lion's Club. Tom had a fun sense of humor and a quick smile. He loved to sing old-time songs to his children and grandchildren, whom he loved very much. He taught his children to ski, and enjoyed fishing and camping in the summers. He enjoyed participating in and watching sports all his life. He was a kind, generous man who often stopped to help hitchhikers or stranded motorists. We will always remember his example of Christian-living that was taught him by his strong mother, and Baptist upbringing. He was preceded in death by his wife, brothers, and parents. He is survived by his children, Robert Foley, Cedar City, UT, Brent (Jacqueline) Foley, Williamsburg, VA, Craig Foley, Bountiful, UT, and Margaret (Rick) Maurer, Cedar City, UT; and seven grandchildren, Rylan, Shaye, Nolan, Casey, Shana, Trenton, and Brandon. Folkersen 1917 - 2005 Edna Faye Willilams Folkersen was born September 14, 1917, in Lake View (Provo), Utah, a daughter of Grace May McBride and William Griffith Williams, Jr. She was the 6th child in the family of seven children. Faye graduated from Lincoln High in Provo, and then lived a very adventurous life, traveling around, and working as a waitress in Provo, Salt Lake City, Yelllowstone, Cheyenne, Miami and then the Los Angeles area after her marriage. Later she worked as a Physical Therapy Technician with the Los Angeles County Crippled Children's Services for nearly 25 years. Faye met Raymond J. Folkersen in Salt Lake City and they married May 5, 1940 and moved to the Los Angeles area. Their three children were born and raised there and they all graduated from high school in La Puente, CA. She loved California, especially the climate and being able to have flowers grow all year around and reluctantly moved to Hurricane to keep her family happy in 1993. Faye was a friendly, outgoing person, with an excellent sense of humor, and a bottomless supply of jokes. She loved to socialize, to entertain, and to help people. She especially loved babies and children and to travel and visit her friends. During her life she went through the western United States, the South, Pacific Northwest, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, Britain and Europe. She was still waiting for a flying saucer tour which never materialized. Faye was a convert to the LDS Church and worked in the Primary and Relief Society. She was sealed in the St. George Temple June 26, 1999 to her husband Ray. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, daughter Linda Faye, parents, and all six siblings: Charles Corey, William Griffith (Jack), Hazel Virginia(Cox), Melissa, Theodore LeGrand and Evan Neal Williams. Faye is survived by her two children: Shirley Ann and Darrell Ray (Wenn). three grandchildren, Mark (Pearl), Sherri and Matthew (Emily) and her only great-grandchild Kaison Ray, who was the light of her life. She also has many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. Faye was an excellent cook, liked family gatherings, loved plants and her radio talk shows. She liked to keep a neat clean home, loved reading, music and dancing, good food, and liked to go to plays and lectures. Faye left behind a legacy of love and laughter when she departed this life October 2, 2005 at the Hurricane Rehabilitation and Care Center. There was a beautiful sunset that evening to honor her. We thank the staff of Hurricane Rehab and Odyssey Hospice for their loving care. Graveside services will be held Monday, October 10, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. In the Provo Cemetery at her family plot. Jackie was born on December 18, 1954 to June K. and Lynn M. Halls in Salt Lake City. A graduate of Cottonwood High School, Westminster College and Collettes High Fashion Modeling School. Jackie was a loving and vibrant person who captivated everyone she came in contact with because of her bubbly personality. She worked as office manager for L.M. Hollingshead, Frank Keith Frank Keith Hollingshead 1918 ~ 2005 On the beautiful fall afternoon of October 7, 2005, Frank Keith Hollingshead, father, grandfather, broth-er, uncle, neighbor, friend, slipped away to meet his sweetheart, Shirley. Keith was born September 28, 1918, fifth son of Andrew Jackson and Lois Adelaide Roberts Hollingshead. He grew up in Minersville, Utah, getting into mischief with his many cousins and friends. He learned the value of hard work as a farmer, rancher, and railroad conductor. Keith married his childhood sweetheart, Shirley M. Fotheringham, April 21, 1939 in the St. George LDS Temple. They were blessed with four children, Dian, Larry J. (deceased), Julye Jex (Donald), Bartt K. (Kena Lee). During World War II, Keith was stationed on the battle-ship Wisconsin. He was later active in American Legion Post 81 and served as Post Commander. Keith enjoyed his membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions. Keith and Shirley moved to Spanish Fork, Utah in 1978 and Keith retired (after 40 years) from Union Pacific Railroad. Keith and Shirley (and friends) built their dream mountain cabin where they spent many wonderful summers. During winter they were "snowbirding" in Arizona. Keith is survived by his children; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchil-dren; and sister, Joy (Jack) Kirk. The family wishes to extend warmest thanks to family and friends who have lovingly cared for Dad; to his wonderful neighbors throughout the years who have watched over him; and a special "thank you" to Franki, Mary, and the Affinity Hospice team for their compassionate, timely care of Dad and support to the family. Jewell, Donald Alan Donald Alan Jewell 1962 ~ 2005 Donald Alan Jewell, age 43, passed away October 8, 2005 in American Fork, Utah after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Kellogg, Idaho April 29, 1962 to Donald and Alice Jewell. He lived most of his life in Pocatello Idaho. He graduated from Highland High School in 1980 and studied electronics at Idaho State University and communications at BYU. Alan married Katharine Harto October 28, 1989; they were later sealed in the Manti Temple. He was a faithful member of the LDS Church. Alan worked for Video West, KSL-TV, and the Utah Jazz. He loved water skiing, playing his guitar, golfing, riding his motorcycle, coaching, watching his children's sporting events, and making his special pizza every Sunday for family and friends. Alan is survived by his wife, Kathy; and children, Ashley, Myles, Kora, Levi, and Kali, all of Highland, Utah; his parents; and sisters, Lanette (Todd) Adams, Karen (Mark) Farnes, and Nancy (Jason) Etheredge all of Pocatello, Idaho. He was preceded in death by one son, Rye Delaney. He married Margaret Shelton April 1, 1941, sealed in the SL Temple. Dad never lost his sense of humor and was a dedicated, faithful member of the LDS Church. He loved his family and he missed his wife. He worried and cared for all his neighbors. Minckler 1952 ~ 2005 Duff Stanich Minckler (September 19, 1952 - September 20, 2005) passed away surrounded by loving family after an amazing three year fight with brain cancer. Duff graduated from the University of Utah with a BA in Political Science then served in the Army from 1973-1980 and was honorably discharged as a captain. He received a BS in Elementary Education from the University of Utah in 1987. Duff's greatest passion in life was music. He played the guitar for 42 years and taught for more than 20 years. He shared his love with thousands of listeners and students. We will always remember Duff with a guitar in hand and a look of quiet joy on his face. Duff was preceded in death by his parents Jeff and Dona Minckler. After graduating from high school, Kenneth served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He spent his life's work as an electrical foreman for Union Pacific Railroad. He loved spending time with his family. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 65 years, Thora; and children, Carl Howard Monahan, Richard Alan Monahan and Christina Kay Monahan. Muir 3/20/32 ~ 10/7/05 Clark Ahrens Muir born march 20, 1932, passed away October 7, 2005 of cancer. Clark was born in Mendon, Utah to William and Rhoda Louise Ahrens Muir. He married his high school sweetheart, Joan Nielsen, September 20, 1950 in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they had three wonderful children, Sheila (Lary) Grubbs of Bountiful, UT, Stanley Muir of Canyon Country, CA, and Jan Marie Scholz (deceased). They also have four grandchildren, four great-grandchil-dren; brother, Don (Jean) Muir of Hyrum, UT; sisters, Louise (Jay) Andersen of Logan, UT, and Joyce (Gene) Whitsel of Garden Grove, CA. Clark was twice elected to serve on the service managers advisory council of the Ford Motor Company, representing the Ford, Lincoln and Mercury dealers in the Western United States. He was twice elected president of the Los Angeles Service Managers Association, president of the Salt Lake Executive Association, and president of the Utah Auto Body Association. He owned and operated Rick Warner Body Shop in Salt Lake City for 15 years. He also served his church in many callings including first counselor in the bishopric (twice) and Young Men's president. Even with all his business activities, Clark was still a cowboy at heart. He will be missed by all who knew him, especially his sweetheart and best fishing partner, his wife, Joan. Willi, a man of many talents came from Germany in 1953 with a suitcase and a dream of starting a new life. He left a legacy of hard work and fair dealings. A highly skilled craftsman, general contractor, who loved classical music, golf, bowling, traveling, and time with family. She was preceded in death by her husband and 16 siblings. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 14, 22005 at the Hullinger Mortuary, 457 East 300 North at 12:00 noon. Rees 5/29/27 ~ 10/4/05 Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, John Rees returned to his Heavenly Father after battling a long illness. John was born in Salt Lake City to George Clarence and Harriet Miles Rees. He was discharged honorably from the US Navy after serving in the Korean conflict. He married Patsy Brumley in 1965. Their love will last forever. Together they had five children. John had a gift with all kinds of animals. He had prize-winning pigeons and champion racehorses. He loved hunting and training his dogs. He especially enjoyed racing horses with his son-in-law, Steve Green. His greatest thrill in life was working, training and winning races with his animals. He is survived by his loving wife; children, James (Pat) Fernandez of Virginia; JR (Steve) Green of Salt Lake City; Phyllis (Arnie) Thorstensen of California; Randy (Maria) Rees of Salt Lake City; grandchildren, Joseph, Annette, Patricia, Donna, Becca, Collin, Conner, Cody, Cassie, Dilan; seven great-grandchildren; faithful and caring friends to the end, Carmen, Alicia, Marlen and also a close circle of buddies whom he appreciated. She was born October 6, 1914 to Walker Scott Cheesman and Celia Eccles Cheesman. She graduated from Ogden High and the University of Utah. She married Louis Reese September 4, 1936 in Littleton, Colorado. Mom was a people person. She loved, as family or friend, everyone she met and never lost a friend in 91 years. She considered herself an active peacemaker. She was well educated and enjoyed a career as a school teacher. She taught in several coal mining towns in Utah and Colorado, retiring from Franklin Elementary in Salt Lake City. After retiring she went on to serve as a board member for the Mental Health Association. She enjoyed having gatherings at her home, working the daily crossword puzzle, and beating anyone and everyone at Scrabble. She will be missed. Survived by sons, Walker (Barbara Johnson) Reese of Kaysville, Jack (Judy) Reese, Sun Lakes, AZ; daughter, Jill (Arcy) Martinez, Ogden; sister, Billie Campbell; and brother, Scott (Zina) Cheesman of Salt Lake City; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Self passed away Sept. 24th, 2005. He was born April 16th, 1953 to Lorraine Black and David A. Self Jr. Greg lived in Salt Lake City for several years and graduated from Olympus High School. He taught guitar lessons and played in several dance bands. He also played at many venues on the strip in Las Vegas and on the west coast. He was an avid guitar player since the age of eight and won honors in school bands for saxophone as well. Greg held a private pilots license and loved to fly. He was also a sky diver for several years. He met and married the love of his life, Pamela Jones in 1988. Marriage was later solemnized in the Las Vegas, NV temple. They resided in Henderson, NV for 17 years. Greg was especially proud of the talents of his beautiful children. He is survived by his wife, Pamela; his daughters, Lauren and Bree; and sons, Dylan and Chad; mother, Lorraine Self Mathis; father, David A. Self Jr.; sisters, Sande (Jim) Bell, Jennifer Shafer, and friends and relatives who love him greatly. Greg had an illustrious career in management for UPS for many years. Weilenmann 1941 ~ 2005 Diane Nielson Weilenmann, age 64, died October 8, 2005 from the effects of pancreatic cancer, surrounded by her loving family and her husband whom she loved dearly and cared for faithfully. Born January 27, 1941 to Lois Agnes Cunningham and Horace James Nielson, Diane spent her early years in Richfield and then Kaysville, Utah. She graduated from Davis High School where she was the school's student body vice-president and continued her education at the University of Utah where she graduated in Business and French. She reigned as Miss Wool and was Days of 47 royalty. Diane's marriage to Milton L. Weilenmann October 19, 1967 was the beginning of a new era filled with children, grandchildren, adventure, travel, and entertaining. Whether living in Beijing, China, or traveling the world with Milt, it was evident that Diane loved life and found each day a gift to be treasured. Fashion, design, and beauty surrounded her throughout her life. Elegance and graciousness were Diane's hallmarks. As an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Diane served in many positions, most recently chairing the Eagle Gate 18th Ward Activities Committee. Her love for the Savior was rendered through many years of genealogy work for her cherished ancestors and in loving service for her husband, family, and friends. Diane is survived by her husband, Milton; and their wonderful family, Michael L. (Pam) Weilenmann, Martha L. (Gary) Starr, Margaret M. (Randall) Mackey, Merry C. (Jim) Fusselman, Melanie L.
