Valerie was born January 19, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Elvin L. and Cleo Judd Riggs, the youngest of five children. As a young girl she was always high spirited and independent. She had a warm heart, but a sharp wit with a ready laugh. She graduated from LDS Business College in 1976 with an Associates Degree in Interior Design. In 1981 she met her beloved husband, Ashot Abramyan. They were married in 1984 in Bountiful. After only eight years of marriage, Ashot died. They had no children. Devastated by her loss, Valerie's health began to fail as she was diagnosed with depression and later diabetes. In 1999 she met Iven King, who became her devoted companion until her death. She was preceded in death by her brother, Randall M. Riggs in 1992 and her mother, Cleo Judd Riggs in 2001. She is survived by her father, Elvin L., Bountiful, UT; two sisters, Shellie Riggs, North Salt Lake; Kimberlie Riggs Hess, (Cameron), California; and a brother, Robin L. Riggs, (Patricia), Sandy; sister-in-law LeAnne Wilson Riggs, Orem. She will be greatly missed by her father and siblings, her 18 nieces and nephews, and her nine grand nieces and nephews. Married Dix Bateson; he preceded her in death. Active member of the LDS Church. She was secretary to Governor Matheson and worked for the Utah Highway Patrol. She loved her family. She made birthdays and holidays special for everyone. She was happiest when her family was around. She successfully raised five children. Reed was born in Logan, Utah Nov. 17, 1906, the fourth child of Mary Hendricks and Herschel Bullen Jr. Reed married Kathryn Bowen on March 31, 1939. Their children include Mary Ann (Grayson S.) Wright Salt Lake City, Utah; Brooks (Dr. F. Zane) Jessen Ogden, Utah; Dr. Reed and Terri (Duran) Bullen, Logan, Utah; Jonathan William and Julie (Harris) Bullen, Rancho Sante Fe, California; Kathryn Louise (Mark B.) McEvoy Dammeron Valley, Utah. Reed had 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Herschel Keith, Lavona, Helen and Thurlow (Tad) Hendricks Bullen. One surviving sister-in-law, Marjorie Q. Bowen lives in Logan, Utah. Reed was an eternal optimist and had a very positive outlook throughout his diverse and industrious life. In addition to his many achievements he loved to fly fish, dance, garden, support Aggie athletics and play golf. He had a long and productive career in business, civic and church work. Reed along with his father brought radio broadcasting (KVNU 1938) to Cache Valley. He later brought cable television (North Utah Community TV) to Cache Valley in 1971. Reed as "Man on the Street" was recognized and well known for interviews and editorials about many issues concerning Cache Valley. Reed had 58 years of continuous service in broadcasting (KVNU and KVFM) and was inducted into the Utah Broadcasters Hall of Fame, (1985). Reed served six terms as a senator in the Utah State Senate, (1955-76). He distinguished himself as whip, majority leader and president (1963) and served three terms as chairman of the Legislative Higher Education Committee. He was a member of the Logan Rotary Club (1943-2006) and a lifetime member of the USAC Alumni Association. He was a member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers, a charter member of Gamma Kappa Chapter of Sigma Chi at USU (1925), a charter member of Round Valley Development Association, (1938), and an Honorary Colonels of the Utah National Guard, (1965). A lifelong loyal Aggie, Reed graduated from Utah State Agricultural College in 1929 with a degree in business, received the Distinguished Service Award (1977) and was awarded an honorary degree as Doctor of Business in 1999. He also did postgraduate work at the University of Utah and Stanford University Law School and later served on the USU Board of Trustees. Reed served as bishop of the Logan Eleventh Ward (1951-1958), Stake President of the USU first stake (1959-1972), Stake Patriarch (1972-1978), and Logan Temple President (1978-84). Reed fell in love with his beloved wife Kathryn in 1937 and continues loving her and his family each and every day. While he traveled the world there was no place he would rather be than in his much loved Cache Valley. Reed's strong belief in the Gospel guided his life of faith and service to his Church, family and community. We will miss him and celebrate his example of a wonderful life lived very well indeed. Butler, Edward John Edward John Butler 11/30/14 ~ 10/10/05 A great man passed away October 10, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah, he will be sorely missed by his family and friends. E. John (Jack) was born November 30, 1914 in Salt Lake City to John and Mabel Butler. He was married to the love of his life Dee Buckley on August 30, 1947 in Ely, NV whom preceded him in death. Jack and Dee lived in McGill, NV for five years where he managed the Goodman Tidball Drygoods store and then moved to Salt Lake City with his family. He worked for Rio Grande Building Products up until his retirement in 1979. He served in World War II and advanced to the rank of Captain. He was a member of the Masonic Wasatch Lodge #1 and was an active Shriner for many years. Jack and Dee were very active in the First Baptist Church for over 40 years. He leaves behind many who loved and respected him including sons, Bob (Marion) Butler, Mac (Paula) Butler, daughters, Sue (Paul) Squire, Jacqueline (Bill) Milner; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and special long time friend of the family Peggy Eklund. Buttgereit, Charles Donald Charles Donald Buttgereit 1942 ~ 2005 Charles Donald Buttgereit, 63, of Sandy, Utah passed away Monday, October 10, 2005 of natural causes in the presence of his family. Charles was born on March 11, 1942 to Max and Herta Schoen Buttgereit. In 1967 Charles married Marilyn R. Twelves of Provo, Utah (Divorced). Charles graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City, UT. He completed baccalaureate studies at the University of Utah. After a short stint in the Army at Fort Ord, Charles went on to complete a Master of Science degree for geophysics at the University of Utah. During a long career with the Kennecott Utah Copper Corporation, Charles also occasionally taught mining engineering courses at the University of Utah and co-wrote a book on the subject. Charles also dedicated much of his life to his community, serving as the chair of the Sandy City Board of Adjustments, making runs for both the Sandy City Council and the Utah State Legislature, and serving as a past vice-chair for the Salt Lake County Republican Party. Charles was preceded in death by his father, mother, and older brother, Edward M. Buttgereit. Charles is survived by his son, Steven Charles Buttgereit; and daughter, Brandy Marilyn Buttgereit. Fereday, Carma Rae Hacking Carma Rae Hacking Fereday 1937 ~ 2005 Carma Fereday, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, returned to our heavenly father on October 9, 2005, after a brave struggle with cancer and diabetes. Carma was born to Vi1o (Kaye) Poulson Hacking (Jones) and Junius Paul Hacking on Oct. 4, 1937. She grew up in Vernal, UT, moving to Salt Lake City, UT, just before she married our dad Gary in 1957. They were sealed in the Manti LDS Temple in December of 1963. She and dad started their family and mom found that she loved crafts. Over the years this love included ceramics, woodworking, sandblasting, scroll sawing, painting, cake decorating, and canning, cooking, knitting, sewing, rock polishing, camping, quilting and raising kids. Mom also worked as a beautician and travel agent. Mom served for over 30 years in various Boy Scouts of America positions, her most recent and much loved endeavor was Committee Chairman over the judges at the Scout-O-Rama; she also attended every one of the last 5 National Boy Scout Jamborees as a camp cook and was saddened when she was unable to attend the most recent one in July of this year. Carma also held various callings in her LDS ward; her most favorite was planning and cooking for the annual ward Christmas party. Mom loved to serve and has always put every effort into whatever task was before her. One of the most rewarding times of her life was being a grandmother, from the first grandchild to the last, mom devoted her time and effort to loving, and enjoying her grandchildren to the fullest. She even traveled as far as Australia just to be with them; Mom loved Christmas and never let a grandchild go without a present. In turn the grandkids regarded her as the best Boy Scouter they had ever known. She was proud of each and every one of them and we will miss her giving spirit, her wonderful cooking and her unconditional love. Craig Lewis Greene, or otherwise known by the grandchildren as "Bunko" was born on September 11, 1936 in Flint, Michigan to Glen Hershel and Lucille Elizabeth Greene. He graduated from the University of Utah. He spent many years as a firefighter and retired from Hill Air Force Base. He married Beverly Sarah Thomas on December 7, 1970 in Elko, Nevada. They were blessed with two children. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; his son K.C. Greene and daughter, Holly (Jason) Smith; four beautiful grandchildren: Holden Greene, Berklee, Brevin and Brightyn Smith who brought joy to his life every day. She was born October 20, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois to Otto and Bertha Sutter Munz. Bertha married Gift Earl Morton October 18, 1942, marriage later solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple Feb. 20, 1960. Bertha was a faithful member of the LDS church. She blessed her family's lives by sharing the gospel with them. Bertha loved her hobbies, including decorating eggs, flowers, and any type of crafts. She enjoyed cooking great meals for her grandkids. In her retirement years she loved traveling in her motor home with her husband and dogs. She was very proud of her Swiss heritage. She was born in Pleasant Grove, Utah to George W. and Martha Adams Larsen. She attended school in Pleasant Grove and at BYU. She married Lawrence D. Olpin on August 16, 1933, in the Salt Lake Temple. He passed away May 8, 1991. She is survived by two sons and one daughter, L. Don (Esther) Olpin, Glen W (Joy) Olpin, both of Ogden; Noreen (Fred) Randall of Brigham City; brother, Thomas C. (Barbara) Larsen of Heber City; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three people she took into her home and regarded as her children, Jane (Brent) McBride of Tooele; Kaarina (Jerry) Isaacson of Kaysville; and Harry Dejolie of Arizona. He was born July 9,1947 in Sherman, TX to Selim Mehmet and Mac Pankey Ozata. He grew up in Sherman, playing on their championship high school football team, and went on to play football at TCU. After college he went on to live a very dynamic life, which included golf course maintenance, a wide variety of sales jobs, working as a stand-up comic and magician, as well as several other colorful endeavors. His final job before his illness was with Guest Relations at LDS and Cottonwood Hospitals. He was Patient Interviewer Extraordinaire and had a positive impact on customer satisfaction with his wisdom, insight, quick wit, and dependable follow-through. He was loved by the many people he worked with and was grateful to be in their care for his final days. Selim was a larger-than-life kind of guy. He lit up any room he came in to and could make life-long friends in a matter of minutes. He loved golf, the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Hold-em, golf, movies, good food and drink, golf, and spending time with his friends. Selim was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by a brother, Charlie, and two nephews. Thank you, Selim, for being in our lives. We are truly sorry that your body could not outlast your enthusiasm. Pace, LaVar Allred LaVar Allred Pace 1919 ~ 2005 LaVar Allred Pace died October 8, 2005 in Bountiful, Utah. The most immediate cause of death was a stroke. She was born July 22, 1919 in Vernal, Utah to Ernest Williams Allred and Irene Birch. She married Curtis Milliner Pace on June 7, 1939 in the Salt Lake Temple. He died April 10, 1955. LaVar lived in Bennett, Utah as a child. Her family moved to Hanna, Utah, where she met her husband. When Curtis died at age 40, mom moved her young family to Salt Lake City. She worked in counter sales at the bakery in ZCMI and later as a clerk in the medical welfare department at the LDS Church Offices. She attended LDS Business College. In her later years she worked at the Salt Lake Temple. LaVar raised a vegetable garden and beautiful flowers, especially roses. She crocheted beautifully and loved to share her talent with others. Her family meant everything to her. Mom has waited more than 50 years to be reunited with her husband. She is survived by her four children, Bonnie Rae Smith (Don); Gary C. Pace; Diane Mower (David); Blaine E Pace (Sue). Preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Lorin, Dale, and two infants, and one great-grandchild. Also survived by two sisters, Crystal Hackett and Velma Aplanalp, two sisters-in-law, Joy Clark and Marlene Allred and by 19 grandchildren and 35 great-grand-children, each of which was her very favorite. Born January 31, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Christen and Valborg Togerson. She graduated in 1940 from Granite High School. Married Lowell D. Perkins on August 14, 1941. Later their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. Jeanette's family was the center of her life. Her love for music brought countless opportunities to share this talent with others as a member of the G Trio, Relief Society Singing Sisters, and through her work with numerous church callings. Her love and compassion for others was endless. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and spent many winters in Oceanside, California. Her family wishes to express their sincere love and appreciation for Lowell and Jeanette's circle of "first grade friends". She was blessed with an amazing outlook on life and a sense of humor that will leave us with many warm hearted memories. Jeanette is survived by her husband Lowell D. Perkins, daughter Janice (Lynn) Billeter, son Doug (Kathy), son Jeff, and daughter Leslie (Richard) Mickelson. Ten grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was born October 6, 1914 to Walker Scott Cheesman and Celia Eccles Cheesman. She graduated from Ogden High and the University of Utah. She married Louis Reese September 4, 1936 in Littleton, Colorado. Mom was a people person. She loved, as family or friend, everyone she met and never lost a friend in 91 years. She considered herself an active peacemaker. She was well educated and enjoyed a career as a school teacher. She taught in several coal mining towns in Utah and Colorado, retiring from Franklin Elementary in Salt Lake City. After retiring she went on to serve as a board member for the Mental Health Association. She enjoyed having gatherings at her home, working the daily crossword puzzle, and beating anyone and everyone at Scrabble. She will be missed. Survived by sons, Walker (Barbara Johnson) Reese of Kaysville, Jack (Judy) Reese, Sun Lakes, AZ; daughter, Jill (Arcy) Martinez, Ogden; sister, Billie Campbell; and brother, Scott (Zina) Cheesman of Salt Lake City; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Willett, Corallie Corallie Willett 1937 ~ 2005 After successfully completing all her school-of-life course work, and passing every test with the highest marks, Corallie Willett graduated from this life Sunday morning, Oct. 9, 2005. Corallie Myrtle Camp Jacobs Willett was born Sept. 21, 1937 in Houston, Texas. She also lived in Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, and Louisiana. Everywhere she went, she lifted hearts and loved unconditionally. She served in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bookkeeping was her primary profession. Her children Curt (Kay) Jacobs, Randy Jacobs, Darin (Karri) Jacobs, and Natalie (Ray) Weller; and her grandchildren Curtis (Vanessa) Jacobs, Kristen Jacobs, Jonathan Jacobs, Blake Jacobs, Bill Jacobs, Nate Jacobs, JC Turner, Bridgette Turner, Corbin (Mishael) Weller, and Collin (Jennifer) Weller are all happy for her graduation, and are excited for the graduation reception being held for her by her sweetheart, Melvin J "Bill" Willett; her parents, Russell and Audrey Freeman Paul; her brother, George "Georgie" Camp Jr.; her father, George Camp Sr.; and many others that have been cheering her on to the finish line.
