He was born Dec. 5, 1987 to father, Jeffrey and mother, Pamela Fivas Adams. Jeffery was a senior at Hunter High School where he was Wolverine of the month. He loved riddles and was the inventor of many things. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Rosemarie and Douglas Adams and Conrad V. Fivas. He is survived by brothers, Eric, Ron, Kevin, Matthew, Michael, Austin, Daniel and sister, Kara. Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, October 15, 2005 at the Hunter 17th Ward 3754 S. 6400 W. in West Valley City. Beckstead, Larry Lynn Larry Lynn Beckstead 1944 ~ 2005 Our beloved son, brother and uncle, Larry Lynn Beckstead, passed away October 12, 2005 of cancer at his mother's home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 16, 1944 in Salt Lake City. He was the eldest son of Warren H. and Pauline Pack Beckstead. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-day Saints. After 25 years of service at Hill Air Force Base, he retired at the age of 50. His retirement enabled him to do what he loved most, playing pool and traveling. He played in many state and national pool tournaments. His love for traveling took him many places, but the place dearest to him was San Diego, CA where he loved the ocean and the snorkeling. He was married to Marty King, later divorced; then married Rena Williamson, later divorced. He is survived by brothers: Randy (Cindy), Greg (Cynthia), sisters: Sandy and Colleen ; nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his father, grandparents and his beloved brother, Harold. We will all miss his wonderful smile, his great sense of humor, and his genuine compassion to others. Bullen, Reed Reed Bullen 1906 ~ 2005 LOGAN, UTAH - Reed Bullen, our dear father passed away at age 98, Oct. 9, 2005 at Terrace Grove. Reed was born in Logan, Utah Nov. 17, 1906, the fourth child of Mary Hendricks and Herschel Bullen Jr. Reed married Kathryn Bowen on March 31, 1939. Their children include Mary Ann (Grayson S.) Wright Salt Lake City, Utah; Brooks (Dr. F. Zane) Jessen Ogden, Utah; Dr. Reed and Terri (Duran) Bullen, Logan, Utah; Jonathan William and Julie (Harris) Bullen, Rancho Sante Fe, California; Kathryn Louise (Mark B.) McEvoy Dammeron Valley, Utah. Reed had 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Herschel Keith, Lavona, Helen and Thurlow (Tad) Hendricks Bullen. One surviving sister-in-law, Marjorie Q. Bowen lives in Logan, Utah. Reed was an eternal optimist and had a very positive outlook throughout his diverse and industrious life. In addition to his many achievements he loved to fly fish, dance, garden, support Aggie athletics and play golf. He had a long and productive career in business, civic and church work. Reed along with his father brought radio broadcasting (KVNU 1938) to Cache Valley. He later brought cable television (North Utah Community TV) to Cache Valley in 1971. Reed as "Man on the Street" was recognized and well known for interviews and editorials about many issues concerning Cache Valley. Reed had 58 years of continuous service in broadcasting (KVNU and KVFM) and was inducted into the Utah Broadcasters Hall of Fame, (1985). Reed served six terms as a senator in the Utah State Senate, (1955-76). He distinguished himself as whip, majority leader and president (1963) and served three terms as chairman of the Legislative Higher Education Committee. He was a member of the Logan Rotary Club (1943-2006) and a lifetime member of the USAC Alumni Association. He was a member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers, a charter member of Gamma Kappa Chapter of Sigma Chi at USU (1925), a charter member of Round Valley Development Association, (1938), and an Honorary Colonels of the Utah National Guard, (1965). A lifelong loyal Aggie, Reed graduated from Utah State Agricultural College in 1929 with a degree in business, received the Distinguished Service Award (1977) and was awarded an honorary degree as Doctor of Business in 1999. He also did postgraduate work at the University of Utah and Stanford University Law School and later served on the USU Board of Trustees. Reed served as bishop of the Logan Eleventh Ward (1951-1958), Stake President of the USU first stake (1959-1972), Stake Patriarch (1972-1978), and Logan Temple President (1978-84). Reed fell in love with his beloved wife Kathryn in 1937 and continues loving her and his family each and every day. While he traveled the world there was no place he would rather be than in his much loved Cache Valley. Reed's strong belief in the Gospel guided his life of faith and service to his Church, family and community. We will miss him and celebrate his example of a wonderful life lived very well indeed. A viewing will be held Friday Oct. 14th from 6-8 p.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary 34 East Center Street in Logan and on Saturday Oct. 15th at 10 a.m. at the church. Burkinshaw, Bernice Bernice Burkinshaw 1909 ~ 2005 Bernice Bateman Burkinshaw, 95, died Sunday, October 9, 2005 of natural causes. She was born in West Jordan, Utah on December 17, 1909 to Ezra Morgan Bateman and RoseEllen Winterrose Bateman. Bernice attended Jordan High School where she met and later married Lamar Burkinshaw in the Salt Lake LDS Temple July 3rd 1931. She spent several years participating with the PTA organization on all levels. This included the Local District, State Board and the National Organization. Her time was also spent as a participating member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Bernice was an example of integrity, humor and hard work. A woman of many talents, a pianist, a singer and a participant in many dramas. An accomplished seamstress (several years spent teaching in the 4H Club), as well as a quilter. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bernice maintained a deep love for her Savior, Jesus Christ, and His Gospel. She held many church callings. She was preceded in death by her husband Lamar and brother Horald (Afton) Bateman. Her surviving family includes brother Keith (Lee) Bateman and sons Larry (Joyce), Nephi; Gail (Lenna), Arizona; daughters Karen (Ludell) Pierson, Murray; Carma (Brent) Colton, West Jordan; 15 grandchildren (one deceased); many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Butler, Edward John Edward John Butler 11/30/14 ~ 10/10/05 A great man passed away October 10, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah, he will be sorely missed by his family and friends. E. John (Jack) was born November 30, 1914 in Salt Lake City to John and Mabel Butler. He was married to the love of his life Dee Buckley on August 30, 1947 in Ely, NV whom preceded him in death. Jack and Dee lived in McGill, NV for five years where he managed the Goodman Tidball Drygoods store and then moved to Salt Lake City with his family. He worked for Rio Grande Building Products up until his retirement in 1979. He served in World War II and advanced to the rank of Captain. He was a member of the Masonic Wasatch Lodge #1 and was an active Shriner for many years. Jack and Dee were very active in the First Baptist Church for over 40 years. He leaves behind many who loved and respected him including sons, Bob (Marion) Butler, Mac (Paula) Butler, daughters, Sue (Paul) Squire, Jacqueline (Bill) Milner; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and special long time friend of the family Peggy Eklund. Preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Buckley, parents, John and Mabel; brothers, Alan, Earl and sister, Grace Butler. Steitz Carnes 1911 ~ 2005 Kathryn was born on October 31, 1911 to Henry and Kate Steitz in Salt Lake City, Utah. She died October 11, 2005, just weeks before her 94th birthday. Married Edward Tuggle Carnes on September 19, 1932, he died January 24, 1998 after 56 years together. She retired from Mountain Bell in 1968 after 31 years. She enjoyed life, especially her flower gardens and was known in the Sugarhouse Area for her yard and willingness to share her flowers, seeds, bulbs, and gardening ideas. She had numerous hobbies and was always busy. She loved to pencil sketch, oil paint, scrapbook, design cards for others, play her piano, quilt, crochet and knit (in 1995 she knitted over 80 children's hats for charity), many have her crotched afghans. She was a loyal Cubs baseball fan, and enjoyed playing pinochle, cribbage, solitaire and dominos. They loved to spend time with their grandkids. Every Friday they came to their home for games of baseball, soccer, badminton, board games, and dominoes. Later in High School her grandchildren had lunch at their home each day with them. She and Ed visited their heaven on earth, the Hawaiian Islands, 22 times. Here they made lifetime friends who loved playing cribbage each night on the beach, and traveled with them to the other islands. They loved the Hawaiian food and Macadamia Nut ice-cream. Survived by her daughter Cathye (Larry) Dial; five grandchildren, David (Stephanie) Dial, Mark (Amelia) Dial, Brandon (Angelique) Dial, Nicole (Robert) Anderson, and Shannon; six great-grandchildren, Jackson 5, Ashlyn 3, Justin 3, Brinley 7 months, Katie 6 months and Ryker 2 months, all of Salt Lake. Also, her treasured nephew Jimmy Drave and cherished niece Kay (Littleford) Quist. Preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Evelyn Drave and Marie Littleford. Christiansen, Terri Lynn Terri Lynn Christiansen 1953 ~ 2005 Our sweet mother and friend, Terri Lynn Christiansen, returned to her Heavenly Father on October 11, 2005 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Mom was born November 18, 1953 in Cedar City, Utah to McKay and Norene Smith. She lived there until 1993 when she moved to Draper, Utah. Terri was an active member of the LDS church. Terri lived life to the fullest. She loved to be with her children. She has always been known for her beautiful garden and her talent to sew. She was always willing to lend a helping hand. She loved the kids at Sprucewood Elementary where she worked as a lunchroom aid. Terri is survived by her four children: Travis Christiansen (Nicole), Collette Whitley (Tim), Megan Christiansen, and Ashlee Christiansen. Also survived by mother Norene Smith, brother Dennis Smith and two sisters Marilyn Bauer and Cindy Rodet. We as a family want to thank Sandra Buys for being a wonderful doctor and friend to Terri. We love you mom and are so grateful that you fought cancer for nine years to be with us. You are greatly missed. Cloward, Alice Dennison Alice Dennison Cloward We love you, Mom Alice Dennison Cloward returned to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 11, 2005. She was born on the 5th of December, 1916 in Salina, Utah, the daughter of Alma Arthur and Hazel Ann Voorheese Dennison. She married Charles Henry Cloward on May 18, 1933 in Richfield, Utah. Alice was an active, faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held many positions of responsibility in the church organizations, always giving her very best at what ever she was called to do. Everyone who came in contact with our sweet Alice was blessed by her radiant smile and her gentle loving spirit. Our family has been honored to have such a great lady as our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (Nanny) and sister. Her example of kindness and love while serving the Lord and others will be a guiding light in our lives. Her life was one of service to others with little concern for herself. She was loved by all and returned to her Heavenly Father with dignity and honor. She will truly be missed and never forgotten. Alice is survived by two sons and a daughter: Rodney (Floris) of West Valley; daughter-in-law Nina of Washington, UT; Kendal (Shirlene) of South Jordan; and Irene (Bartley) Curtis of Sandy, as well as 16 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her trips to Mesquite, and loved her three B's: Bingo, Bonko and Bowling. Fullmer, Dorothy Lillian Wallace (Haubert) Dorothy Lillian Haubert Wallace Fullmer 11/6/16 ~ 10/3/05 Dorothy passed away October 3, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah of causes incident to age. She was born in Douglas, Arizona November 6, 1916 to Guy Charles and Lillian Drakeford Haubert. Guy Charles abandoned the family leaving Lillian with an infant daughter and a three year-old-son. Lillian died of a broken heart when Dorothy was just six weeks old. Dorothy was raised by her aunt, Edith Drakeford. She grew up in Salt Lake City, graduated from West High and attended the University of Utah. During World War II she worked at the Defense Depot in California, painted her legs because nylons were unavailable, and stood in queues to get commodities. She loved gardening, cooking concoctions that she made up, serving other people, reading, crocheting and politics. In 1946 she married Gaylen H. Fullmer at his parents home in Salt Lake City. They wore matching gray pinstripe suits. They went on their honeymoon to California and took her brother and a Singer sewing machine with them in the back seat. Gaylen died in 1978. She is survived by Edythe Petersen (Lenard), Brent Fullmer, William Fullmer (Nannette), Russ Fullmer, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, step-parents, and her brother, Guy Drakeford Haubert. Alton Ladd Gardner, 89, died Friday, October 7, 2005, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born on January 27, 1916, in Delta, Utah and resided in Phoenix for 45 years. He was a naval aviator during World War II, retiring in 1954, and began a second career as an air traffic controller with the FAA. He retired again in 1974 with 35 years combined military and federal service. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Gertrude W. Gardner. Survivors include his daughters, Daryl (Richard) Mancinelli of Roseville, CA; and Carol (Reginald) Matz of Sandia Park, NM; grandsons, Troy (Cheryl) Mancinelli of Longwood, FL; and Brook (Alison) Mancinelli of Orinda, CA; great-grandson Neon Mancinelli of Longwood, FL; brothers, Ulysses S. Mahaffey Will Be Missed Mary E. Mahaffey, for the past 21 years, of Ocean Springs, MS, died Oct. 3, 2005. Survivors include her three children, Daniel Mahaffey, Elizabeth M. Davies, Michael Mahaffey (Sherri Evershed); six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mary lived life actively and energetically, promoting the betterment of the larger community. After serving as a Marine in World War II, she moved for her husband's job with Eastman Kodak between Rochester, NY, and Atlanta, GA. In every town her deep sense of justice and need to aid the less fortunate propelled her into grass-roots political and church activity. Mary never acknowledged having retired but returned to her roots on the Coast to once again begin decades of community involvement. Helping Hurricane Katrina victims would have been her next mission. He was born in Ogden, Utah to Reuben and Erma Mason. He faithfully served his country during the Korean War from 1953 to 1956 (Semper Fi). He served a mission for the LDS Church in the Southern States Mission from 1957 to 1959. He was married to Alice Elizabeth McKay Mason from 1960 to 1981, and to Charlotte Ann Harper O'Bryan Mason from 1983 to present. He is survived by all of his children and siblings, as well as dozens of grandchildren and great-grand-children. He was an avid outdoor enthusiast, and loved all people unconditionally. She was born in Mount Pleasant, Utah December 23, 1928 to Harold and Elverda Hafen Frandsen. She married Rex C. Matson on December 18, 1946 in the Manti LDS Temple. Her family includes her husband Rex C. Matson and her four children, Larry J. (Lea) Matson of Sandy, Kenneth F. "Zack" Matson of Orem, Marylynne (Matt) Urie of Las Vegas, NV; and M. Peter (Michelle) Matson of Layton, 16 grandchildren, and her sister Marion Mower of Fairview. Jeannine was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities in the Church, especially in the Relief Society. She loved to help and serve others throughout her life and loved her family dearly. She spent the last 16 years of her life caring for her husband despite her own health problems. She loved painting and writing and she loved to sing and attend the Temple. She loved our Savior Jesus Christ and demonstrated this love through her very forgiving nature and continuous service to others. Born September 1, 1945 in Spring Hill, Louisiana, daughter of Josiah David and Zadie Mae Melvin Sims. She was a member of the Brookshire Ward whose many members lovingly cared for her. McArthur passed away October 9, 2005 at the age of 91 at his home in St. George, Utah surrounded by his family. Andrew was born December 23, 1913 in St. George, Utah to James and Elizabeth Oxborrow McArthur. Andrew lived in St. George his entire life. He attended Dixie High School and Dixie College. He served an LDS mission in the North Western States. Upon completion of his mission, he returned home and went to work with his father at the family owned Quality Bakery. He became a master Baker, continuing the business after his Father's death until 1960. He married Merle Wallace on her birthday, September 29, 1938 in St. George LDS Temple. They enjoyed 66 years together. Andrew's sweetheart Merle preceded him in death on December 30, 2004. Andrew was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions including Bishop, Stake President, Counselor in the St. George Temple Presidency and Regional Representative for the Southern Utah Area. He was a charter member of the St. George Volunteer Fire Department and served for over 65 years. Andrew was a member of Rotary International. He served on the Board of Zions Bank and the St. George Savings and Loan. His life was marked by industry, thrift, hard work and self reliance. He is survived by his children: Marilyn Smith (Paul) Murray, Utah; James A. (Denise) St. George; Daniel C. (Julie) St. George. He has 19 grandchildren and 34 great-grand-children. He is also survived by his 93 year old sister Ina Mae Bracken of St. George. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Merle Sarah, his sisters and brothers; Clio Sullivan, Bessie (Wayne) Gardner, Mary McArthur, Joseph (Gertrude) McArthur, Lavera Pelt, and James (infant) McArthur. Andrew enjoyed life and lived each day to its fullest. He was a hard worker, dedicated to accomplishing the tasks before him. If you wanted it done you could count on Andy or "Bish" as he was known. He enjoyed hunting, horseback riding, kissing his grandkids and being with his family. As a young man in school, he played tennis, softball and basketball (his favorite). Funeral services will be held October 17, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the St. George LDS 8th Ward Chapel, 166 South Main Street, St. George, Utah. Visitation will be held on Sunday October 16, 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, and October 17, 2005 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the 8th Ward Chapel. Morzelewski, Charles Anton Charles Anton Morzelewski 1918 ~ 2005 Charles (Chic) Anton Morzelewski, 87 passed away October 11, 2005. He was born January 15, 1918 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Charles parents, John and Marie Minderlein Morzelewski, emigrated to the United States in the early 1900's from Poland and Germany. Charles graduated from West High School in 1936, and then attended a Community College where he studied drafting and trigonometry. He married Wanda Woodard, of Francis, Utah, on May 18, 1940. Charles worked at the Auerbach Department Store, in SLC, first as a carpenter's helper, carpenter and then foreman carpenter. After 46 years with that company he retired in 1982. He was a member of the Carpenters Local 184 for 56 years. He served in World War II in the U.S. Navy. Charles was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities including 20 years in the extraction program. He loved to do Home Teaching. They built their home in Sandy, Utah in 1969, where he loved planting and irrigating vegetables and flowers, and growing fruit in their lovely yard. Charles loved boating, fishing, and traveling. The family enjoyed vacations to many lakes throughout Utah. After his retirement, he and Wanda traveled throughout Mexico for about 25 winters. In December 2004, he and Wanda moved to the Legacy House Assisted Living Center. The couple celebrated their 65th anniversary this year. Charles beloved wife, Wanda, passed away on August 29, 2005. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at the Legacy House, and the nurses and staff at the Logan Nursing and Rehab Center. Services from Access Hospice the last week are also greatly appreciated. Charles will be greatly missed by his family, John (Nila) Morzelewski of Sandy; Julie (Greg) Robinson of Logan; Lonnie (Michael) Taylor of Boise, Idaho; 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a brother, Jack Morzelewski (Salt Lake City). As well as his wife, Wanda, a son, Tim W. Morzelewski, and grandson, Timothy Jed Robinson, preceded his passing. Funeral services are under the direction of the Larkin Mortuary, and will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, 12 noon, at the Pebble Hills Chapel, 8735 S. Harvard Park Drive (1076 East), Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday evening, 6:30 to 8:30, and also at 10:30 am prior to the services at the Pebble Hills Chapel. Interment in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Published in the Deseret News from 10/13/2005 - 10/14/2005. Ozata, Selim "Buck" Selim Ozata "Buck" Selim "Buck" Ozata, 57, passed away Oct. 7, 2005 in Salt Lake City. He was born July 9,1947 in Sherman, TX to Selim Mehmet and Mac Pankey Ozata. He grew up in Sherman, playing on their championship high school football team, and went on to play football at TCU. After college he went on to live a very dynamic life, which included golf course maintenance, a wide variety of sales jobs, working as a stand-up comic and magician, as well as several other colorful endeavors. His final job before his illness was with Guest Relations at LDS and Cottonwood Hospitals. He was Patient Interviewer Extraordinaire and had a positive impact on customer satisfaction with his wisdom, insight, quick wit, and dependable follow-through. He was loved by the many people he worked with and was grateful to be in their care for his final days. Selim was a larger-than-life kind of guy. He lit up any room he came in to and could make life-long friends in a matter of minutes. He loved golf, the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Hold-em, golf, movies, good food and drink, golf, and spending time with his friends. Selim was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by a brother, Charlie, and two nephews. Thank you, Selim, for being in our lives. We are truly sorry that your body could not outlast your enthusiasm. Perkins, Jacquelyn Wilcox Jacquelyn Wilcox Perkins "Jackie" 1945 ~ 2005 Jackie quietly passed from her earthly bonds on Oct. 11, 2005 while living at the home of her loving niece and her husband, Denise and Larry Argyle. The family will be forever grateful for the loving care she has received living with them. Jackie was born on January 26, 1945 to Orvel John and Jennie Josephine Perkins at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. She was the youngest of nine children and is survived by only two brothers, Doyle (Marlene) Perkins and Blaine (Jean) Perkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Josephine and Baby Perkins, and her four brothers, Orvel (Perk), DeWayne, Nolan, and Roy. Jackie was active in the LDS church all of her life and raised an entire generation of children working in Primary in several different positions at the Garden Park Ward. She also served a mission at Temple Square and at The Joseph Smith Building. In spite of her birth afflictions she was a capable artist and learned to play the piano through a dedicated teacher and friend, Lois Waltman. Our thanks go to many people who allowed Jackie to reach her full potential in life and gave her the confidence to move forward with her life. The people at the Work Activity Center worked with Jackie on many fronts, including Special Olympics participation. You are all aware of all the medals that she earned and she was rightfully proud of her accomplishments. Through her parents and her sister, Josephine, she became a world traveler and remembered most of the places with great pride and pleasure. She was "Aunt Jackie" to many loving nieces and nephews and spent many hours helping to tend them while they were at grandma's house. She will be missed by all who have known her and have been touched by her happiness and companionship. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Special Olympics or the Perpetual Missionary Fund. Reid, Marjorie Marjorie Reid 1918 ~ 2005 Marjorie Harmer Reid, born January 25, 1918, to Roy Howard Harmer and Winnie Edith Daw died on Wednesday, October 12, 2005. Marge is survived by her children: Joanne Jensen, Ray and Janice Reid, Kathie and David Kerr, Michael and Rene Reid and Bruce and Carie Reid. She is also survived by her sister Jerri (Don) Urry, 27 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Andrus, her brother Howard Harmer, her son-in-law Carl Jensen, her grandson Doug Jensen and her great-grandsons Jackson and Jonathan. Marge was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed playing and reading with her grandchildren, many of whom she taught to read. As a dedicated kindergarten teacher for over 30 years she was dearly beloved by her students. She won several awards for her teaching service and was instrumental in developing kindergarten reading programs in several schools throughout the Salt Lake valley. She was also a favorite cook and seamstress of her family who have treasured memories of her cooking, fun Halloween costumes and special dresses. Shortt, Christina Ann Christina Ann Shortt 1954 ~ 2005 Christina Ann Shortt was born Feb 7, 1954 in Galesburg, Illinois to Donald Edwin Butler and Nancy Jean Stebbins. She died Oct 1,2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah due to complications from RSD. Chris grew up in the Chicago area. She graduated from Western University with a degree in arts. She married Wayne Shortt in Aug, 1981, later divorced. Chris worked for Salt Lake County Parks & Recreation as a summer camp counselor. She also designed many t-shirts and advertisements for the county. She later taught PE at Nibley Park Elementary and served there as PTA president. She had a great love for children. The joy and love of her life was her daughter, Amber Marie. Chris is survived by her daughter Amber (Winston) and grandson, Emery. Brothers: Mark, Shawn, Dirk, George, William, and Daniel, and sisters: Stephanie and Robin; her mother, Nancy Pufahl, step-mother Peggy Butler, and her dear friends Debbie Jamison and Julie Winn. She was preceded in death by a sister Donnan, her father Donald Butler, and her beloved grandfather, James R. Rush. Sorenson, Jay Blaine Jay Blaine Sorenson, DDS 1941 ~ 2005 Jay Blaine Sorenson passed away at home on Saturday, October 8, 2005 due to complications from a blood disorder. Dr. Sorenson was born February 12, 1941 to Blaine Ray and Afton Pitt Sorenson in Salt Lake City. He graduated in 1959 from East High where he played football and golf and sang in the A Capella Choir. Dr. Sorenson served an LDS mission to Scotland where he was known as a gifted orator, teacher, and musician. He earned a bachelor's degree in medical biology from the University of Utah where he affiliated with Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was married to Donna Lynn Dale for 20 years during which time their five children were born: Dale, Todd, Heidi (Deifel), Burke, and Neil. Dr. Sorenson earned his DDS from the University of the Pacific in 1970, after which he practiced general dentistry in California and then completed an endodontic residency in Miami, FL. He practiced endodontics in Salt Lake City for many years until his recent retirement. Known as an avid sportsman and outdoorsman, Dr. Sorenson was an excellent golfer, tennis player, hiker, rock climber, and snow and water skier. He loved to jeep in Moab and explore the wonders of nature. Dr. Sorenson also took great joy in piloting his Cessna plane all over the western hemisphere. Dr. Sorenson had a keen intellect and was interested in physics, astronomy, American history, World War II, native American culture, and LDS Church doctrine and history. Dr. Sorenson was always making jokes, even when his health was waning. He was a member of the Murray 12th Ward (Murray Stake). He is survived by his four half-siblings, his five children, their spouses, and four grandchildren, Samantha, Cody, Lydia, and Michael. He will be dearly missed by all. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 15 at 12 noon in the Murray 12th Ward on 363 E. Vine (4900 S.) in Salt Lake City. Waldbeiser, Toma Lue Toma Lue Waldbeiser Together Again Toma Lue MacNaughtan Waldbeiser graduated with honors from this life on earth on October 11, 2005. She has returned to her Heavenly Home and to the loving arms of her husband, John Reginald Waldbeiser, and her youngest daughter, Julie Ann Waldbeiser, after a valiant eight-year battle with cancer. Toma was born on March 8, 1925, to Thomas K. MacNaughtan and Lucylle Kohler in Heber City, Utah. She met her eternal sweetheart at the home of a friend. They later, after three years of marriage, purchased the home in which they met. They lived there happily for 53 years until John's death in 2001. They had three daughters, Mary Lue, Gloria Jean, and Julie Ann. Toma (Toni) was a person who was always on the go. She hated to waste time just sitting, so in her lifetime she accomplished much and served many. Toni loved to dance and taught many tap dance groups. One of her most pleasant memories was organizing the Grand Tappers dance group. She was the choreographer for most of their dances. These dancing grandmothers performed from 1981 to 1996. She was also a member of the DUP. Toma helped manage Mac's Motel which was owned by her parents. In her early years she worked for JC Penny. Later she worked in Sprouze Reitz, The Thread Shed, the Avon and Ideal Theatres, all in Heber City. Toma was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Even during the five years in which she cared for her husband who was homebound they never missed watching Sacrament meeting and the Tabernacle Choir on television. Over the years, Toma served 20 years in the Primary Organization as a Primary Teacher, and as a Primary President, and as a member of the Stake Primary Board. She served as a Sunday School teacher for 15 years. She also served as Ward Chorister during much of this time. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Mary Lue and Bill Duke, Heber City; Gloria and Allen Huffaker, Midway; She loved her 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by a close friend, Barbara Thacker, who had been like another daughter to her over the years. Also, survived by two sisters and one brother: Eva Hood, Eugene Oregon; Tom MacNaoughtan, Heber City; Carole Harnden, Riverton, Utah. Funeral services will be held Friday. Young, Russell Russell Young 1925 ~ 2005 Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, E. Russell Young, passed away on a beautiful fall day, Tuesday October 11, 2005. Russ was born Nov.18, 1925, in Ely, Nevada to Eb and Lorelda Young. When he was 13, they moved to Ogden, Utah. After graduating from Ogden High School, he enlisted in the Army-Air Force where he trained as a pilot, specializing as a navigator where he earned the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He loved flying and had many great adventures and stories dealing with flying throughout his life. Russ met Ina Paul on a furlough and later married her while at Utah State in the Logan Temple on July 15, 1949. He graduated from BYU with a degree in Accounting and Business Administration. He worked in various accounting positions in Weber County. He started work at Hercules in 1962 and retired in 1986 as Executive Vice President of the Aerospace Division. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various callings. Russ enjoyed anything outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, shooting, boating, horseback riding, skiing, backpacking, gardening, traveling all over the country, to Europe and various islands. He was a kind, generous, "class act", a true gentleman until the very end. His sense of humor and wit made life fun for everyone he met. He lived life to the fullest and had a great work ethic; he taught us by example and loved unconditionally. He will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife, Ina Paul Young and five children, DeAnne (Joe) Wilberg of Moses Lake, WA, Glenna (Ray) Ryan of Las Vegas, NV, Barbe (Jim) Burt of Las Vegas, NV, Debbie (Jack) Legge of Wilmington, DE and Paul (Debbie) Young of Kamas. He has 20 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren who love and adore their grandpa. His mother Lorelda turned 100-years-old this year.
