Benson, Marian Louise Vier Marian Louise Vier Benson "Together Again" Our wonderful, loving Mother, grandmother, great-grand mother, dear friend and our perfect "Angel", has gone to be with the love of her life, October 19, 2005. Now they can be together for all eternity. Born August 23, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Fredrick and Charlotte Vier. Married her sweetheart Ezra William "Bill" Benson, November 30, 1945; they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a wonderful, loving mother that not only raised six children, but she unselfishly and lovingly helped everyone she knew and came in contact with. She was there and supported her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at all their sports activities and school functions. One of her great talents was decorating wedding cakes and did so for all of her children. She loved to water ski (even at 70), go river rafting, bowling, and the family outing to Lake Powell. Her main love was her family and she was so very happy when we were all together, especially our annual "Christmas Party". She and Santa were so cute together. After the passing of her wonderful husband, she looked forward to her days working at the Oaken Bucket and all the friends she made there. The love and support of her brothers meant a lot to her throughout her life. He was born Aug. 30, 1919 in Salt Lake City to Leo Andrew and Jennie Layton Bird. He married Betty Jean Jensen July 3, 1948 in Salt Lake City. Leo served an LDS mission to Toronto, Canada. He served proudly in the Army Air Corp during World War II in India and was a member of the Hump-Back Pilots Association. He was a long time auto/aircraft mechanic retiring from Hill Air Force Base. Leo enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating. He was an avid gun and coin collector. His easy smile and sense of humor will be greatly missed. Survived by his wife; daughter, Lori (Brian) Golding; grandchildren, Michelle (Todd) Wright and Stephen Golding. Preceded in death by one sister and three grandchildren. Bloxham, Ben Ben Bloxham 1934 ~ 2005 Ben Bloxham peacefully passed away at his daughter's home in Ivins, Utah surrounded by his children and grandchildren after a brief battle with cancer Thursday, October 20, 2005. Ben was born May 7, 1934 in Kaysville, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vestal and Aliene Nalder Bloxham. He is survived by his children, Sarah Young of Borrego Springs, CA, Nathan Bloxham of Salt Lake City, Lauri Brock of Orem, Heather (Jackie) Nygaard of Ivins, Natasha (Dante) Amato of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren; his sister, Larue Wixom of Mesa, AZ; his brother, Wayne Bloxham of Soda Spring, ID; and the mother of his children, Rebecca Haynes of Central, UT. Ben served a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern states and also served his country in the Army. He pur-sued his education acquiring a Bachelors degree from BYU and a PhD from the University of South Hampton, UK. He taught at BYU until he retired in 1992. In retirement he devoted himself full time to genealogical and family history research. He has helped many people find their ancestors and prepare their temple work. This past year he began writing a book about the great painter, Heinrich Hoffman who he considers to be the painter of Christ. Ben will always be remembered for his love of the church, genealogy, and his great generosity. Burgess 1919 ~ 2005 MIDVALE/TOOELE - Thomas Arlo Burgess passed away peacefully in the quiet of the morning at his home October 18, 2005. Tom was born in the home of his parents John Samuel and May Catherine Hatch Burgess, April 24, 1919 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada. It is only fitting that Tom was born and died at home for home truly is where his heart was. Family was Tom's inspiration and purpose throughout his life. Tom and his Malad, ID sweetheart, Renee Thomas, were married August 10, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple. He will long be admired as a loving husband, father of six, grandfather of 18, great-grandfather of eight, and friend of many. Tom enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy serving during World War II in the Pacific and Atlantic theaters as a Petty Officer from October, 1942 to the war's end. After his Naval service he attended the University of British Columbia at Vancouver, B.C. Tom and Renee migrated to Tooele, Utah in 1949 where they raised their family. Tom created a career in Tooele as a well known and respected car salesman for Barrus Motors and Mantes Chevrolet. He served in bishoprics, a stake presidency, and numerous other positions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1989 Tom and Renee fulfilled their dream by accepting a call to the Uruguay Montevideo Mission. Church service has been a large part of their lives having served three LDS missions together. They moved to Midvale, UT in 1991. Tom was a sports fan, loving both BYU and the Utah Jazz. In his youth he enjoyed competing in track and baseball. Tom survived his parents; and brothers, Lynn, Nowell, Ralph LeRoy, Lyle; sisters, Viola and Faye; and grandson, Bradley Burgess. He is survived by his loving wife, Renee; and children, Lorita Beers, Draper, Marcia (Bruce) Bracken, Draper, Bruce (Lisa) Jacksonville, FL, Lisa (Brent) Black, Tooele, Arlene (J.D.) Cox, Terry Rex Terry Rex Cox "Finished His Last Race" Terry Rex Cox, beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother, son-in-law, uncle, nephew and friend, came to rest in the Lord, on the beautiful day of October 20, 2005. Terry battled valiantly with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. His strong spirit was never overcome even though his body was ravaged by an unusually aggressive form of this disease. Terry was the first born child of Rex and Evonne Cox, born July 23, 1943. He loved to enjoy his family and friends. He loved to enjoy nature and he loved to serve the Lord. This was his whole life and he combined his loves all together by serving as scoutmaster two times, 1st and 2nd counselor in the bishopric, and Young Men's President for many years in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Terry loved serving a mission to share the gospel with the people of Texas. He was a patriot and faithfully served his country as a member of the Green Beret Special Forces in Vietnam. Terry graduated from West High School in the class of 1961. He was an alumni of the University of Utah and was always a Utah fan, but he also had a great love for BYU football. He greatly enjoyed watching the Utah Jazz and other teams and he never missed his children's games. Terry took up jogging to keep himself fit. He ran many races including 14 marathons from San Francisco to Steamboat Springs. Terry was employed by L3 Communications. He was hired as an accountant and continued there for 33 years taking on additional responsibilities as the company has changed. Terry was so dedicated to his work, that he continued to work full time during his chemotherapy treatments and then went to work almost every day during his radiation treatments. Terry is survived by his faithful wife of 34 years, Marilyn; and their five wonderful children: Brian, Clay (Evelyn), Camille, Stuart and Candice Cox; and also five adorable grandchildren, Kaci Cox, Faith Saddler, Akaila Cox and Dylan and Ethan Johnson. He is also survived by his six loving brothers and sisters, Robert (Monica) Cox, Kathy (Deward) Timothy, Vickie (Dick) Lewis, Connie (Bob) Taylor, Peggy (Tom) Lloyd and Mike Cox; as well as many beautiful nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Durfey, Shanna Christensen Shanna Christensen Durfey 1958 ~ 2005 Shanna Christensen Durfey passed away after a long extended illness on October 21, 2005. Born on September 20, 1958 to Antone N. and Tarra Lee Christensen in Salt Lake City Utah. She married Melvin Dean Durfey in the Salt Lake Temple January 19, 1990. Shanna was a multi talented woman. She used her talent to help others. Shanna was a great storyteller. She has left her family with so many wonderful memories. She will be greatly missed by everyone. Shanna served a mission for the LDS Church in Indiana and held many positions in the Church. Edwards Jr., Byron Clyde Byron Clyde Edwards, Jr. 1978 ~ 2005 Byron Clyde Edwards, Jr., age 26, was unexpectedly called home to that loving Heavenly Father who gave him life, October 21, 2005. He was born October 27, 1978 to Byron Clyde, Sr. and Dee Ann Snyder Edwards. Byron attended school in Orem graduating from Mountain View High School and Utah Valley State College. He majored in Business Administration at UVSC and was scheduled to attend formal graduation this December. At the time of his passing, Byron was working as an Investment Consultant for Paragon Capital Management. Byron was actively involved as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed serving in the Elders Quorum presidency and most recently in the Young Men's presidency. Byron loved working with the youth of the American Fork 17th Ward. He served a faithful mission in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he met and cemented many great relationships. Byron was married and sealed for time and all eternity to Katie Young of Orem, August 8, 2002 in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. They were recently blessed with the birth of their first child and daughter, Kali. Byron was excited with his new transition to fatherhood and was looking forward with Katie to raising a family and enjoying life together. Byron loved life and shared its richness with many, many friends and family members. Future trips to the cabin, Lake Powell, sand dunes, and other places will certainly bring moments of silent reflection; for Byron was an integral part of our lives and he will be missed. Although his time with us was shortened, we take comfort in knowing that we will one day be together as a family again (and kick his butt for missing the Broncos-Eagles game with us next weekend). She was born June 1, 1931 in Lovell, Wyoming to Paul Silas and Eva Despain Emmett. She was married for 42 years to Arvin F Godfrey. They had three children. Nina was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a choice daughter of our Heavenly Father. She raised a family of caring children who loved her very much. Nina was adored and loved by many. She served a mission in New Zealand. Our mother truly enjoyed taking care of her flower garden. She derived much joy in caring for her grandson, Tyler. She is survived by her husband, two sons: Raymond and Dwayne, brothers: Elwood and Norald, sister, Leta Gifford and one grandchild. We're grateful for all those who provided care for Dean the past five months. Dean was born December 29, 1935 in SLC to George and Pearl Youngberg Gustafson. He graduated from Olympus High School in 1955. He married his high school sweetheart, Kathy Mauss October 24, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. He served faithfully and diligently in the many church positions he held. Through his many talents, abilities, and hard work he taught us all the importance of serving the Lord by serving others. His greatest love was being with his family! He also enjoyed being outdoors, working on his tractor, working with his hands building wood projects for those he loved, and especially playing golf. He was deeply loved by family and friends and those who cared for him. He can now be himself, freed from the pains of his mortal body. He was born June 3, 1917 in West Jordan, Utah the son of Charles Eric and Ada Francis Hogan, the youngest of nine children. As a youth he worked very hard on a dairy farm. In 1938, Don was called to serve an LDS Mission in Australia from which he gained a strong personal conviction and testimony of the Gospel and also a love of Australia and the people. After much study and training, Don flew the B-17 and B-24 bombers in World War II completing 35 missions mostly over Germany. Through the course of his combat effectiveness, he was awarded several medals and awards. On June 26, 1945, Don married Mable Peterson in Alexandria, Louisiana. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Three children were born to this family. His occupation during most of his adult life was spent as an industrial engineer. He did work in connection with various missiles out of Hill Air Force Base. He is survived by his children, Patri-cia (John) Reeve; daughter-in-law, Susan (Paul) Hogan; and Philip (Jayel) Hogan; eight grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; all eight siblings; his wife, Mabel P.; and his son, Paul. Holt, Clayton Jay Clayton Jay Holt 1928 ~ 2005 SYRACUSE - Clayton Jay Holt, age 77, passed away peacefully October 21, 2005 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Syracuse, Utah to Jesse Mabey Holt and Ethel Lundstedt September 3, 1928, the youngest of nine children. Clayton graduated from Davis High School and Utah State University. He served a mission in Sweden. He also served in the army during the Korean War. He married his eternal companion and sweetheart, Etheleen Elizabeth Gerald of Ridgeway, South Carolina in the Salt Lake LDS Temple October 5, 1953. His greatest joy and accomplishment has been as patriarch of his family. He is beloved by his son, Bryan Holt (Holly Glick) of Redmond, Washington; daughter, Paula Earl (Dennis) of Hooper, Utah; daughter, Gayle Holt; and son, Brad Holt (Nicole Wood) of Hopkins, South Carolina. He has left a legacy of love and service. Clayton was a dedicated educator and historian, teaching in Davis schools for 30 years. He also introduced many recreational programs to the youth of Syracuse. In retirement he served on the Syracuse Historical Commision authoring the "History of Syracuse." He also loved working in his garden and traveling. Clayton served the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in many ward and stake capacities including that of bishop of the Syracuse 3rd Ward. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Gayle; his parents; and seven siblings. Surviving are his wife and children; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Daw-na Hayes (Lloyd ) of Bountiful. Kramer, Bonita Burton Bonita Burton Kramer Johnny's 'Little One' Our dear loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away October 19, 2005. Boni was born August 30, 1934 in Levan, UT to George and LaVer Burton. Boni married her soul mate Johnny Kramer September 5th, 1962. Boni is survived by all of her 13 siblings: Irene, Maurice, Veda, Renee, Dick, Max, Fairon, Geniel, Lynn, Sandy, Jackie, Wayne, Kenny and their spouses. 8 children: Vicki, Dennis (Ruby), Kym, Clint, Linda, Billie Jo, Jodi and Jamie Sue (Jeff). 31 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren, all of which she had many cherished memories with. Many loved nieces and nephews also survive Boni. Her parents, husband, son Kerry and grandson Skip preceded her in death. Boni LOVED to dance and enjoyed collecting dolls, psychic healing and never passed up a good yard sale! She was so very proud of her personal experience of walking on fire. Larson, Marguerite Emma Caine Marguerite Emma Caine Larson "Marge" Margie passed away October 21, 2005 due to incidence of old age. She was born in Salt Lake City on August 6, 1917 to John McPhie Caine and Martha Skogland. She graduated from South High School and married Albert Donald "Don" Larson in 1938. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had five children and spent 48 years together. Keeping close to her family and her involvement in the LDS church kept her very busy. Marge is survived by sons, Roger (Autrey) and Lynn (Nancy); daughters, Carol Oxborrow, Janice (Chris) Oltersdorf, Joyce Etter; 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; brothers, Richard and Paul Caine; sister, Carol (Ott) Webb. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; sisters, Phyllis and Nancy; and brother, Johnny. Special thanks to Jan and Joyce for always being there. Born November 16, 1913 in Mesa, Arizona to George William Lewis and Olena Dorthea Kempe Lewis. Married Barbara Rae Wootton in the Salt Lake Temple October 4, 1944, and was married for 60 years. "He was one who loved the Lord, his wife, Barbara, all of the members of his family, his friends and associates, all his fellow men, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was grateful for the many wonderful challenges and opportunities that came to him during the course of his life which was filled with rich and rewarding experiences. His wish was to thank the countless numbers of people who have done so much to bless his life. His was a life of happiness." Ben spent his boyhood days in Salt Lake City and served as student body president at BYU in 1940 and obtained a Masters Degree in 1942 at the U of Denver. He worked for the Hot Shoppes, Inc. which later became the Marriott Corporation, as budget director for seven years. He then returned to BYU in 1952 where he served in administration for 27 years, ultimately as executive vice president. He was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Business degree in 1970 and a Presidential Citation in 2001 from the University. Ben served in the Northern States Mission and twice as a stake missionary in Washington D.C. He was president of the Sharon East Stake for 16 years, served on the Sunday School General Board, and was Regional Representative to the Twelve. Ben and Barbara presided over the England London Mission from 1979 to 1982. Ben chaired the site selection committee for the Provo Temple and the Fund Raising Committee for both the Provo and Jordan River Temples. He was chairman of the BYU Major Gifts Campaign beginning in 1982 and was involved in funding for the Marriott Center and LaVeIl Edwards stadium. He was on the Provo City Planning Commission for seven years, a member of Provo Kiwanis for 23 years and instrumental in the growth of Utah Valley Hospital. An avid supporter of scouting his full life he received the Silver Beaver and was president of the Utah National Parks Council. This well-known Utah County man sporting his distinctive bow ties has been a major influence on and off the BYU campus for the past 50 years. He swam and played racquetball every morning at BYU, worked in the temple, wrote memoirs and composed poems for greetings and Christmas cards. Ben is survived by his wife, Barbara; five children, Linda J. Lewis, Stephen Lewis, James Lewis, Mary Anne Turner (Judd), Salt Lake City, Utah, John Lewis (LaCinda) Gilbert, Arizona. Also survived by niece, Louise Holdaway (Boyd), Provo, Utah; and nephews C. Lewis Wilson (Grace), Salt Lake City, and Greg Wilson (Kathy), Sandy, Utah, who Ben and Barbara raised as their own children. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Jean, born November 6, 1921, was adopted as an infant by Isaac Norman and Edith Mae Sutton McClan-ahan. She attended Wasatch Elementary and Rowland Hall in Salt Lake and Mills College in Oakland, California. Paul J. "Bub" Lund married Jean October 16, 1941 in Salt Lake City. Jean thoroughly enjoyed her family especially her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She delighted in nature down to each individual leaf and twig. Jean was a gracious hostess, especially on holidays and events at the family cabin in Porter Fork. Jean loved to travel, read, learn, and take care of her beloved animals. A unique, classy lady, Jean's flair for art, color, texture and design was reflected in her home, wardrobe, and love for weaving. She volunteered at the Salt Lake City Library, University Hospital, Canyon Rim Citizens Association, and for other worthy causes. McGill 1919 ~ 2005 Paul W. McGill died October 21, 2005. Paul was born October 3, 1919 in Goodridge Township, Minnesota. Paul's birth occurred while his father, Henry, and mother, Augusta (Willie), were on a journey to begin homesteading in Joplin, Montana. Paul was educated in the public schools of Havre, Montana. In the summer of 1940 while working on a "gandy gang" for the Great Northern Railroad, he joined the Montana National Guard. The guard was mobilized in the fall of 1940. His infantry unit was assigned to Fort Lewis, Washington for infantry training. On Nov. 29, 1941, Paul married his high school sweetheart, Mae McCabe, at the Fort Lewis Chapel. Eight days later, Dec. 7, 1941, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Congress immediately declared war on Japan as the USA was drawn into World War II. March of 1942, Paul sailed overseas on the Queen Elizabeth which was accompanied by the USS President Calvin Coolidge and USS Mariposa. Almost three years later, Paul was reassigned "stateside." While he was overseas, Mae moved from Montana to Salt Lake City to be with her parents. When Paul returned from the war their daughter, Carren, was nearly three years old. In 1945, Paul and Mae's civilian life began. They had 10 children, Carren Mae Linn-Downs, Patricia Ann McGill (died from Leukemia on Paul and Mae's 25th wedding anniversary in 1966), Nancy Kathleen Green (Michael), Paul W. (Cathy), Jane Elizabeth Razzeca (Michael), Barbara Sue Pintner (Bill), Mark John (Avez), Daniel Thomas (Susan), Mary Frances McGill, David Joseph (Christina). All of their children attended local Catholic schools and they all graduated from Judge Memorial Catholic High School. Paul and Mae have 27 grandchildren and 18 great-grand-children. Paul was largely self-educated. He attended the U of U under the G.I. Bill. He also received "on the job training" with a local steel fabricator. He became a licensed professional engineer in Utah and 12 other states. Paul was founder and president of: PM Engineers Inc; PM Drafting Inc; PM Construction Inc; PM Investor Inc; an associate member of Holland, McGill & Pasker Architect/Engineers, along with other companies and joint ventures. Paul opened branch offices in California, Colorado, Nevada, and Arizona. His firms employed over 100 people. Paul was a Catholic and a member of the parishes of St. Ambrose and later St. Ann's. He was active in organizing youth athletic programs. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a contributor to the Catholic Foundation. Paul designed and helped construct St. Marguerite's Church in Tooele and St. Joseph the Worker in West Jordan. He was president of Judge Memorial Boosters Club, and of the Ambrosians. He was grounds keeper and president of the Rosecrest Little League (The real "Little League"). The field was subsequently called "McGill Field" now a part of Tanner Park of SLC. Paul retired at age 65. He loved to dance, take cruises, travel, golf and winter in Las Vegas. Paul lived a full life and enjoyed every day. His family and friends will miss him. Paul is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Patricia Ann; sister, Dyllis Bucklin; brother, Robert; two grandchildren; one great-grand-child; brothers-in-law, Frank McCabe and Frank Bucklin; and sisters-in-law, Mary Janet McCabe and Jean Mc-Cabe. Doug loved to be outdoors fishing and hunting. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin on Diamond Mountain, but most of all he loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved working on and taking care of his yard and home. He worked 32 years for Chevron. Doug graduated from Uintah High School in 1950. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Meek Faithful Husband & Father Passed away quietly on Oct. 16, 2005, reuniting with his beloved wife Margaret in eternal rest. Survived by sisters Marian and Jeraldine and a faithful posterity including children Diane (Jedd) Bennett, Robert (Carrie) Meek, David (Brenda) Meek, Brent (Brooke) Meek, Julie (Phil) Taylor, Bruce (Cynthia) Meek, as well as 26 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Born November 26, 1929 in Preston, Idaho, Glenn's childhood years were greatly influenced by his family, especially his grandfather whom he greatly admired. He developed an early appreciation for classical music and the arts, which led, during his high school years, to meeting his wife Margaret. Together they were active in musical and theatrical events. He was also competitive in sports, excelling especially in football. Glenn volunteered for an LDS mission in 1949, serving honorable in the Western Canadian mission from June 1949 to June 1951. Married 10 days after his return, he and Margaret quickly set to work establishing a spiritual and temporal foundation for their eventual family. Glenn attended college at Utah State and later dental school at University of Washington. His perseverance and drive led to a successful career as an endodontist in Canoga Park, California, where he provided his family with security and stability. Family vacations remain a source of warm remembrance and tradition among his children. Other hobbies included golf, flying and sporting events with his sons. After retiring in 1984, Glenn and Margaret moved to Utah where they enjoyed their remaining years together in the Salt Lake valley. Miller, Ramona Warner Ramona Warner Miller 1925 ~ 2005 Ramona Warner Miller died Wednesday, Oct. 19. She was 80. She was born Ramona Warner on May 18, 1925, to Iris Milo Warner and Myrtle Cottam Warner in Fillmore, Utah. Her family moved to Richfield, Utah, in 1935. She graduated from Richfield High School in 1943. During World War II, she aided the war effort as a .30-caliber ammunition inspector for Remington Arms. Ramona married Donald P. Miller on Oct. 18, 1945, in Farmington, Utah. They lived briefly in the Puget Sound area, while he finished his service in the U.S. Navy. They moved to Salt Lake City in 1946, settling in the Rose Park area in 1955. They were married 60 years and raised three children: Elease, Larene and Don. Ramona was Donald's "very, very best friend." Ramona enjoyed time with her family. She loved to make pies and quilts for family and friends, and family legend had it that people would stub a toe or feign illness so Ramona would bring them her famous rhubarb pie. The family thanks the staffs of LDS Hospital and University Hospital, who cared for Ramona in her last days. Born June 29, 1919 in Provo, Utah, to Samuel William and Rebecca Overlade Williams, she was raised in a home where music was the family business. She attended BYU where she met Leland Joseph Earl from South Weber, Utah. They were married on June 17, 1940 in Farmington, Utah. Marriage later solemnized in the LDS, Salt Lake Temple. After Leland's death in 1990, she married Carl Erwin Nelson in 1992 in St. George, Utah. They shared the next eight years together until his death at 98. She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Deanna and Marty Ehman of Bountiful, and Elaine and Gary Beck of Glendora, California, nine grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. During World War II, Leland was assigned by the Navy to San Diego, Ca; The family followed him to California where they lived for 44 years, residing in San Diego, Inglewood and San Gabriel. Mae loved to serve. She was an exceptional Grandma and loved her family very much. She served as Relief Society President, on the California-Utah Women's Board, Board Member of the Harold B. Lee Library at BYU, Pasadena Stake Mutual Marrieds Leader and member of the BYU Club. She traveled extensively throughout the states and Europe and passed her love of travel on to her family. Kendall R Oman 1922 ~ 2005 October 18, 2005 was a beautiful day on the golf course - after putting out of the seventh hole Dad went on to finish his round in a better place. Kendall R. Oman passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 19, 2005, as the result of a stroke. Born September 18, 1922, in Boneta, Duchesne County, Utah to James L. Oman and Delva Allred. Ken attended school in Duchesne County, Weber State College and Utah Trade Tech. He served in World War II as a Lieutenant (jg) in the US Navy from 1943 - 1946 as a fighter pilot. His favorite was the F6-F Hellcat. After the war, he worked at H.A.F.B. as a mechanic where he met LaVerne car-pooling to work. He went on to work as an Air Traffic Controller and after 36 years of service he retired in 1978. He held various church positions, serving as a Scout leader for many years. Ken married LaVerne Swan on June 13, 1949, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they raised three children. LaVerne passed away March 16, 1984. He married Shirley Haslam on May 24, 1986, in the Jordan River LDS Temple. Together they served a mission for the LDS Church to the Atlanta Georgia Temple and Washington DC Temple. He had two sweethearts, LaVerne and Shirley! He enjoyed life to the fullest. Always on the go - tennis, golfing, fishing, hunting, or just being with family and friends, the great grand kids will truly miss his 'Magic'. He is preceded in death by wife LaVerne, daughter Ellee (Jim) Rands, parents, sister Fawn (Joe) Patterson and great-grandson Jaxon Olson. She was born April 2, 1943 in Montpelier, Idaho to Rhena Emily Wilkes and LaVar Broadbent Nield, the youngest of seven children. She married Bernard Al Tait September 12, 1963 in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. Rhena was raised and educated in Montpelier, Idaho, and later graduated from the Hollywood Beauty College in Logan. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mother, was always a good listener, and was an ideal grandmother. She did beautiful embroidery work, and enjoyed dancing with the Hey Cedars Square Dance Club. She was an active member of the LDS Church who fulfilled her callings faithfully. Survivors include husband, Al Tait of Cedar City, UT; children, Eric (Jennifer) Tait of Cedar City, UT, Alicia Tait of Cedar City, and David (Angie) Tait of Richfield, UT; brothers and sisters, Darrell (Waneen) Nield of Spanish Fork, UT, Betty Ruth (Ross) Thurber of Spokane, WA, Mary Lue (Harold) Bunn of Montpelier, ID, and John (Sally) Nield of Spanish Fork, UT; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Michael and Rhett; and two sisters, Naomi Grunig and Roma Parker. Waters, Ziska Neith Bissell Ziska Neith Bissell Waters 1916 ~ 2005 Ziska closed her eyes, and started a new journey on October 19, 2005. She was born on May 24, 1916 in Payson Utah to Maurice Bissell and Flora Hauser. Married J. Vaur Waters March 20, 1935. Later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, March 20, 1941. Mom was a grand lady, with many talents. She loved her family and friends. She was a teacher and example all her life. She served many church callings. Her love was the Salt Lake Temple where she served for over 20 years. She attended B.Y.U. and the U of U, was a member of D.U.P. and C.W.I. Proceeded in death by her parents, Husband and son, brother and sisters, granddaughter. Survived by daughter Anne (Terry) Carpenter, Sisters Edna Davis, Wanda Jex, Joann (Norman) Steele, Anna (Roy) Anderson, Barbara (Harry) Collard, and Brother Lynn (Karma) Bissell, 6 grand children, and 2 great grand children. Williamson, Phyllis Phyllis Williamson 1906 ~ 2005 LAYTON - Phyllis Williamson, 98, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2005 at Life Care Center in Bountiful. She was born November 5, 1906 in St. Charles, Idaho the daughter of William and Ellen Marie Osterlin Clark Jr. Phyllis graduated from Fielding High School in Paris, Idaho and attended BYU and graduated from Steven Henegars Business College. She worked for the Davis County School District. She married Lyle Young Williamson on November 2, 1934 in Soda Springs, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1992. She was a member of the LDS church and served as a Primary Teacher for 54 years, until 2004. Phyllis was active in the PTA and scouting. She enjoyed knitting, croqueting, flower and vegetable gardening. Surviving are two sons, Lynn Clark (Donna) Williamson, Layton; Terrence Lyle (Judi) Williamson, Provo; one daughter, Sharon Marie (Ed) Dahle, Salem, ORE; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Wood, Marjorie Ruth Rogers Marjorie Ruth Rogers Wood 1919 ~ 2005 Marjorie Ruth Rogers Wood, "Marj", 86, passed away quietly Oct 21, 2005, in Bountiful, Utah. She was born June 4, 1919 in Pocatello, Idaho to John G. Rogers and Anna Marie Anderson, and spent her early years with her family in Helena, Montana, and Rexburg, Idaho. Upon her father's death, she moved to Salt Lake City with her mother and her two younger sisters, Dorthy and Patricia. She married Melvin Walton Wood July 22, 1940. They built a home in Wood's Cross, Utah and later moved to Bountiful, where daughter, Lynnae (husband, William "Wim" Wallace Ray); and son, Roger, were raised. Marj was deeply devoted to her children and to her extended family. She was often surrounded by children, grandchildren, sisters, nieces, and nephews. She kept a cherished family scrapbook. She volunteered for the Red Cross, was a Cub Scout Den Mother, and was very proud to have helped Roger earn his Eagle Scout award. The family loved their summer fishing trips to the Henry's Lake area, where Mel and Roger fished and Marj and Lynnae played with a doll named the Go-Fishing-Baby. In their retirement years, Marj and Mel traveled the nation in their motor home, sharing good times with lots of good friends. She had a love of poetry, and a wonderful sense of humor. She leaves a legacy of wit, wisdom, and dedication. Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; her sister, Dorthy Rogers Thiessen; and two brothers-in-law, William "Bill" Thiessen and Raymond L. Jensen. She is survived by her sister, Patricia Jensen Harris (Tom); her son and daughter; grandchildren, Daniel Wood Ray (Marcy Lynne), William Rawlins Ray (Rebecca); one great-grandchild, Charles Rawlins Ray; and a large extended family. Yuhas, passed away October 17, 2005, at home of a heart attack. He was born on August 11, 1958 to Joe and Betty Buhler Yuhas. John was raised in Midvale, Utah, and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1976. John married Brenda Pugmire on February 8, 1980. They were recently divorced. They have two children who were his reasons to breathe: Justin John Yuhas and Casidee Yuhas Smith (Judson). He began his career in the airline industry with Western Airlines and later Delta Airlines. He was a self taught computer whiz and transferred to Delta Technology. He recently celebrated his 20th anniversary with Delta and had many valued friends there. His newest love in life was his Harley-Davidson and he spent many happy hours on the open road. John had the opportunity to see his son, his pride and joy, Justin, relocate and settle into an exciting and fulfilling career in Washington D.C. Last month he had the honor and privilege of escorting his beautiful daughter, Casidee, the light of his life, down the aisle at her wedding. John is survived by his former wife; his children and his new son-in-law; his father, Joe Yuhas; brother, Bruce Yuhas (Karla); sister, Jeanne Bullock; also many aunts, uncles, and cousins and was "Uncle John" to many nieces and nephews on both sides. John was preceded in death by his mother, Betty, whom he adored; his favorite aunt, Marjean Jacobson; and his brother-in-law, Ron Bullock.
