Allen, Vila C.
Vila C. Allen 1906 ~ 2004  Vila Rose passed away 1 Dec 2004.  She was born 3
Feb 1906 in Murray, Utah to Martin Christensen and Louisa Mauss. She married
Einar Fredbo 27 Feb 1927 and later married Russell Allen 6 Feb 1955. She
attended Murray High School, Henager Business College and LDS Business
College. She worked as a legal secretary for 35 years. As a member of the LDS
Church she served as a volunteer at the LDS Hospital and Primary Children's
Hospital. She will be remembered by hundreds of nursing students for her
philanthropic assistance through scholarship endowments to several
universities. Few people have ever known more, cared more or assisted family
members more than Vila Rose. She is survived by brothers Harold, Owen, Morris,
and sister Lois Denne. She is remembered by many family members and friends. 
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, 8 Dec 2004 at 12:00 p.m. in the
Millcreek Stake Center, 4200 South 420 East, Salt Lake City. Burial will
follow in the Murray City Cemetery, 5600 South Vine Street. Services are under
the direction of Russon Brothers Salt Lake Mortuary. Directional maps and

Anderson, Kevin Jay
KevinJay Anderson 1952 ~ 2004  Born in Salt Lake City, Utah September 27, 1952
and passed away December 3, 2004 from a long battle with leukemia. He is the
son of Alvin S. Anderson and Donna Y. Anderson. He married Diane Jeanette
Lewis August 3, 1973 in the Salt Lake Temple. Kevin was a loving husband,
father, grandfather, son, brother and was loved by all who knew him. He is
survived by his wife of 31 years; son, Troy; daughter, Stacy (Pat Shocklee);
and two grandchildren, Madisyn and Tanner; his parents; his sisters, Jody
(Clark Prescott), Lisa (Dean Flowers); brothers, Clay (Melony), Tyler
(Suzanne), Creed (Cindy); and many nieces and nephews. Kevin and Diane loved
being at their St. George condo. They were looking forward to retiring there.
He attended Dixie College as a young man. Kevin's favorite hobby was shopping
for bargains. He was always thoughtful in his purchases as he bought most
things not for himself, but for others. This is the way he lived his life
always thinking of others. A highlight of his teen years was serving as the
Junior Assistant Scoutmaster to his father and earning his Eagle Scout Award.
The viewing will be held at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 Highland Drive, Monday December
6, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. Services will be held Tuesday December 7, 2004, 12 noon
with a viewing one hour prior at Olympus Stake Center of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2675 East 4430 South, Holladay, UT. Interment
will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Kevin will be missed by all who knew
and loved him.

Ashworth, Ralph M.
Ralph M. Ashworth 1918 ~ 2004  Passed away at home in Oakland on Nov. 19, 2004
at the age of 86.  Beloved husband of Emily Ashworth. Loving father of Diane
ZumBrunnen and her husband, Michael of Alameda. Brother of Alice Carlson and
Walt Ashworth. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 10, 1918 and he
was a resident of Oakland for over 60 years. Ralph was a World War II, U.S.
Army Veteran.  Funeral was at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Oakland, CA
on November 23, 2004

Batt, Joseph Wells
Joseph Wells Batt 1916 ~ 2004  Joseph Wells Batt, 88, passed away December 2,
2004 in Cedar City, UT.  He was born May 14, 1916 in Cedar City, UT to John
Aaron Batt and Jenny Bauer. He married Neta Mortensen January 15, 1944 in
Pioche, NV; she preceded him in death May 6, 1987. He later married Ellen
Williams November 11, 1989 in Cedar City, UT. Wells was a member of the
operating Engineers and operated one of the biggest power shovels in the
states. He was a member of the Woolgrowers Association. He worked for The Iron
County School District for 28 years before retiring. He was also a member of
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a very loving and
generous man and was a friend to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed
by his family and friends. Dad, we love you very much.  He is survived by his
wife Ellen of Cedar City; children Ken W. Batt of Cedar City, Jack M Batt of
Huntington, Twyla Jean (Russell) Fallows of Spanish Fork, and Kathleen (Duane)
Raymer of Cedar City; six grandchildren, 16 great-grand- children, one
great-great grandchild; and brothers Scott (Alice) Batt of Cedar City, and
Fred (June) Batt of Yakima, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife
Neta, and brothers Richard and Chester Batt. Funeral services will be held
Monday, December 6, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cedar 14th Ward Chapel. Friends
and family may visit Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Southern Utah
Mortuary and Monday morning one hour prior to services at the church.
Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern
Utah Mortuary. Condolences may be sent through our website at

Beck, Clifford Calvert
Clifford Calvert Beck 1920 ~ 2004  MAGNA - Our loving husband, father, and
grandfather, Clifford Calvert Beck was born March 26, 1920 in American Fork to
Margaret Ann Bushman and Bryon Leonard Beck.  He passed away peacefully on
December 3, 2004 in Bountiful after fighting Alzheimer's. He married Ada May
King on September 18, 1946. He served in World War II in the Army Air Corps
for four years. He worked 43 years for Kennecott Copper, and also served on
the Magna Community Council. He was an active member of the LDS Church serving
in various callings. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Ada May; sons, Stephen
(Laura), Rigby, ID; Gary (Marsha), Manila, Philippines; Gordon (Michelle),
Lake Point; David (Mary Ann), West Valley; Tom (Ruth), Vancouver, WA; and
Kelly (Ilene), Murray; 32 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren. Preceded in
death by his parents; sisters, Marie Obray and Lucille Hill; brothers, Harold,
Lloyd, and Sherman; and sister-in-law, Beth Beck. The family expresses
gratitude to the staffs of Rocky Mountain Care Center and Rocky Mountain
Hospice of Bountiful for their excellent care during his final days. Funeral
services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at the Magna Stake
Center, 3084 South 8400 West. Friends may call Monday 6-8 p.m. at Peel Funeral
Home, 8525 West 2700 South, and Tuesday 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.
Interment: American Fork Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations

Bennett, Alice Leone
Alice Leone Bennett 1919 ~ 2004  Our precious and loving Aunt passed away on
December 2, 2004 at the age of 85 in an area hospital. Alice was born in
Schillbourne, Nevada to George Lawrence Bennett and Mary Etta Kell on April
28, 1919. Alice never married and always lived with her sister and
brother-in-law, Vera Bennett and Pete Yano who have preceded her in death.
Alice was a driving force in the rearing of their children. After graduation
from Jordan High School, she attended Stevens-Henager Business College. During
World War II, Alice worked at a local ammunition plant making arms. After the
war, she worked for Standard Oil of California as a bookkeeper. In 1956, Alice
opened her own business, a caf‚ called the Malt Shop, located in the State
Lanes Bowling Center. In 1971 the caf‚ was moved to the Sue-Rich Lanes. Alice
retired at the age of 78 from work but not from life. To the very end she
drove a car, lived in her own home, did her own shopping, visited family
members, and loved to work in her garden. Aunt Alice was well loved by her
family and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her loving niece, Susanne
Yano Hanson, Las Vegas, Nevada, her adoring nephew, Richard Yano, Salt Lake
City, six grand nieces and nephews, and 14 great-grand nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Monday, December 6, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at
Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State St., where friends and family may call
from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Inurnment at Murray City Cemetery.

Casada, Erma Murray
Erma Murray Casada 1926 ~ 2004  VERNAL - Erma M. Casada, our mother, was born
September 5, 1926 in Jensen, Utah to Jonathan Moyes and Verlie Stewart Murray.
She left this earthly journey to soar among the angels December 1, 2004. She
was one of 12 brothers and sisters that grew up in Jensen, in a home filled
with love, laughter and music. She graduated from Uintah High School with the
class of 1945. Erma married Everett Hughes Goodrich in 1946 and four beautiful
children were born. They later divorced and she married Elmer L. Casada in
1968. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, the Quartet, the
Old Timers, and a volunteer at the Uintah County Care Center. Erma enjoyed
bowling, singing and playing the harmonica. She was an avid Utah Jazz season
ticket holder. Erma was very active and held many position her ward. She was
also known for being very active and involved in the Democratic Party. Mother
worked in the restaurant business until the age of 65. Some called her Erma,
some called her Flo, and we called her mother. But everyone called her friend,
the type that when you meet, they leave a lasting impression or an impact on
your life. Erma is survived by Kelly (Binky) Goodrich of Rock Springs, WY,
Gary Goodrich of Grand Junction, CO, Debra McCarrel, Jodie (Douglas) Miller of
Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren, Kristen Goodrich, Kelly Goodrich Jr, Kasey
Goodrich, Aurora Goodrich, Kimberly Goodrich, Jason Goodrich, Brad McCarrel,
Gavin McCarrel, Ryan Miller, and Tyler Miller; 11 great-grandchildren; her
brothers, Macks (Geri) Murray of Lapoint, UT, Johnny (Renee) Murray of Big
Bear Lake, CA; sisters, Alberta (Guy) Stewart of Vernal, UT, and Elizabeth
Adams of Blackfoot, ID. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband;
sisters, Sara, Thelma, Thelda, Verlie; brothers, Wilbur, Boyd, Dee; and a
son-in-law, Kent McCarrel. Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 6,
2004, 11 a.m. at the Vernal LDS 4thWard building, 235 East 600 South, Vernal,
Utah. Friends and family may call Sunday, December 5, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. at
the Thomson-Blackburn Funeral Home, 15 East 100 North, Vernal, Utah and one
hour prior to the services at the Vernal LDS 4thWard building. Interment will
be at the Maeser-Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Thomson-Blackburn
Vernal Mortuary.

Congrove, Charles L.
Charles L Congrove (Old Itchey Feet)  Born April 30, 1924 in Circleville,
Ohio. Passed away December 2, 2004 after a long battle with cancer. He proudly
served his country in the Air Force dur-ing World War II. He loved to fish,
hunt and play golf, but his #1 love was to travel. That is how he got his
nickname and C/B handle-"Old Itchy Feet". He is preceded in death by his
parents and son, Michael. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Darlene; his
sons, Dennis (Alice), Robert (Darlene), Mark (Judy) all of Salt Lake City, and
Jeff (Kathy) of Yuma, Arizona; 14 grandchildren; and five
great-grand-children.  He will be missed but we all wish him a pleasant
journey and know he'll be smiling, because he will be "on the road again."
Funeral services will be held at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood
Road in West Jordan, 11 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2004. Friends and family may
call at the mortuary Sunday 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services. In lieu

Source, 1624 East 4500 South, Salt Lake City.The family would like to thank
the staff at Care Source for the care and dignity they showed and gave Dad in
his last days.

Ericson, Maxine Wright
Maxine Wright Ericson 1926 ~ 2004  Our beloved mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Maxine Wright Ericson, passed
away December 3, 2004 surrounded by her family. Born September 10, 1926 in
Salt Lake City, Utah daughter of Bryant and Florence Larsen Wright. Married
Noel F. Ericson April 10, 1947. Survived by children, Connie (Mike) Orullian,
Karen (Rick) Balser, Vernon (Karen) Ericson, Jeff (Shauna) Ericson, Brad
Ericson; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five brothers and
sisters. Preceded in death by her husband, Noel; parents; and five brothers
and sisters. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 7, 2004, 11 a.m. at
Mc-Dougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. A viewing will be Monday
evening from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Redwood Memorial
Estates.

Fackler, Margaret L.
Margaret L. Fackler "Remembered WithLove And Laughter"  Margaret Elizabeth
LeCroy Fackler, age 84, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2004. Margaret
was born November 27, 1920 in Walker County, Georgia to John and Hassie Mae
LeCroy. She married Newman E. (N.E.) Fackler, Jr. on May 10, 1952. Moved to
Salt Lake City in 1965. N.E. preceded her in death in May, 1998. Margaret was
known for her great love for her family. Even while battling Alzheimer's, she
would often remind her children, "Call me when you get home." Margaret had a
wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. Even in the most difficult times
she could relieve the tension with her quick wit and a big smile. She was a
member of Christ United Methodist Church. She lived and taught the Golden
Rule. Survivors include her daughter, Karen F. (Kent) Lange, son, John N.
(Carol) Fackler; grandsons, Christopher (Naomi) Lange, Jonathan Lange,
Anderson Fackler and Colton Fackler, all of Salt Lake City; sister, Minnie
Ruth (James) Gardner of Trion, Georgia. Margaret requested that her memorial
services be like her, short and sweet. Friends may call on Sunday evening
December 5, from 6-8 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E. in Salt
Lake City. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, December 8 at the Huey
Funeral Home in Canton, GA. Interment in the Riverview Cemetery, Canton, GA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christ United Methodist
Church Building Fund, the Alzheimer's Association, or the charity of your

Frangos, William
William Frangos 1943 ~2004  William Frangos, Ph.D., 61, died early Tuesday,
Nov. 30, 2004 from complications related to colon cancer. Dr. Frangos, born
April 2, 1943, in Kokomo, Indiana, son of Mona B. and the late Thomas F.
Frangos received his B.S. degree in Earth Sciences from MIT in 1967 and M.S.
in Geophysics from the U of U in 1992.  During his years in Salt Lake City he
conducted field research, taught at Salt Lake Community College and was a
dedicated, much loved soccer coach. In 2002, he earned his Ph.D. in Applied
Geophysics from the University of California at Berkeley. In 2000 he accepted
a position as professor of Geology and Environmental Science at James Madison
University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.  In his distinguished career as a
geophysicist, he published widely and lectured around the world. Willy is
survived by his wife of 25 years, Suzan Caylor Frangos; mother, Mona; sister,
Marilyn Seastone; brother, Geoffrey Frangos and wife, Elise Walker; daughter,
Dr. Jennifer Frangos; son, Colin Frangos and wife, Jane Fisher.

Gilson, Phil Douglas
Phil Douglas Gilson 1950 ~ 2004  Phil Douglas Gilson (Darling) left for a long
river rafting trip November 29, 2004.  Phil was born in Salt Lake City on
October 28, 1950 to Vervin and Jean Gilson. He attended Highland High School
where he was a cheerleader. He was active in diving and was named All
American. Also, he was Utah State High School Diving Champion. A life long
athlete, he enjoyed, golf, skiing, and tennis. Graduated from the University
of Utah with a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering. Phil worked for P.M.
Engineering, Robert & Schaffer, and Gilson Engineering. One of his greatest
accomplishments was Project Manager of Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant. 
Married Penny D. Tedesco (Bud) on April 14, 1984. Phil was extremely devoted
to his family, Penny, Gabby, Pesto, Jelly Bean, and Monet. Phil is survived by
his wife, parents, brothers, Larry (Barb), Jim (Meg), and nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Cottonwood Country Club, 1780
East Lakewood Drive, Salt Lake City, on Monday, December 6, 2004 from 5-7 p.m.

Gould, Delora G.
DeLora G. Gould Beloved Mother, Grandmother & Sister  DeLora Gentry Gould
passed away December 1, 2004.  She was born February 10, 1932 in Latuda, UT to
James Sanderson Gentry and Charlotte Stevenson. Married M. Jay Gould, Jr.,
later divorced. DeLora was a member of the LDS Church. She was devoted to her
family and enjoyed working in her yard, cleaning her home and her embroidery
work. Survived by her two daughters, Debbie (Kevin) Woodward and Charlotte
Rebecca (Michael) Martin; grandchildren, Jennifer Gould, Ginger Morgan, Ethan
Woodward, Sabrina Martin; brother, James L. (Colleen) Gentry; and sister,
Patsy Jean (Tony) Matsamas. Preceded in death by her brother, Francis Daniel
Gentry and her sister, Betty Lou Thomas. Funeral services will be held Monday,
December 6, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cottonwood Stake Center, 1750 E. Spring
Lane. Friend may call Sunday, from 5-7 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760
So. State St., and from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the church on Monday. Interment

Hardy, A. Wesley
A. (Alvin) Wesley Hardy 1926 ~ 2004  A. Wesley Hardy , beloved husband,
father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away, surrounded by his
family, December 3, 2004, in Salt Lake City. Born August 23, 1926 in Hurricane
Utah to Della Humphries and Alvin Carl Hardy. Raised in Springdale Utah he
attended Hurricane High School, where he met and fell in love with Ruth
Bringhurst of Toquerville. They were married July 22, 1944 in the St. George
Temple, and Wes entered the U.S. Army in No-vember of the same year. He served
two years in World War II in North Africa and Italy. Survived by his wife,
Ruth; and children, Craig Wesley (Dessa Poulson), Pamela Dent (Ray), Steven
Leon (Camie Price), Richard Alvin (Linda Jensen), Tina Chiu (Stan); 17
grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; his brother, William (Mack); and
his sister, Nellie Ballard. Served LDS building mission with his family to
Calgary Canada, and Rexburg (Lyman), Idaho. Also served as bishop, high
counselor, and in many other church callings. President of the Utah Masonry
Contractor's Association. Successful insurance executive, builder, contractor
and developer. He lived his life with gusto, always had a "deal" in the works,
and achieved his goal of working to the day he died. Beneath a rough exterior
was a compassionate and generous patriarch. His passion for horses was shared
with, and inspired many family members and friends. All will miss their
horseback rides with Grand-pa on Delany's Star and Freckles. Viewing will be
held Tuesday December 7, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd., Salt
Lake City, 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 8, 12 noon, in the LDS chapel
at 2350 Creek Road, Sandy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
Primary Children's Hospital in Wes's honor.

Haskett, Ida H.
Ida H .Haskett 1923 ~ 2004 CENTERVILLE - Our loving wife, mother, sister,
grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmoth-er and friend, Ida H.
Haskett, 81, died peacefully at her home and returned to her Heavenly Father
December 3, 2004 in Centerville, Utah. She was born April 18, 1923 in
Bountiful, Utah to Frederick Leo Hart and Alice Day. She married Joseph Oliver
Haskett in San Francisco, California December 10, 1949 and they were sealed
for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple April 19, 1954. Ida was an
active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of her
life. She served a mission to Oregon and Washington from 1946 to 1948. She
loved the gospel with all her heart and served in numerous callings in the
Primary and Relief Society organizations and worked in the name extraction
program in her later years. She lived her life as a woman of character and
integrity. She loved to read, crochet, knit and spent many hours quilting. She
loved making wedding and baby quilts for members of her ward and family. Ida
loved her family very much and she was happiest when she had her grandkids and
great-grandkids around her. Her family was her greatest possession. She was
deeply loved by her family, will be missed by them and all of us. Survived by
her husband of 55 years, Joseph; children, James (Fran-cine), Bountiful, UT,
Jan McKay (Robert), Layton, UT, Steve (Dani), Tooele, UT, Barbara Brines
(Ray), Clearfield, UT, Robert (Kamra), Littleton, CO; 20 grandchildren; 31
great-grandchil-dren; one great great-grandchild. Preceded in death by her
parents; and brother, Haven D. Hart. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m.
Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at the Bountiful 19thWard Chapel, 1500 North 400
East. Friends may call Monday 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary,
295 North Main, and Tuesday 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment,

Hayes, Richard D.
Richard D. Hayes "Gone Fishin"  Our dear dad and grandpa, Richard D. Hayes,
was reunited with his wife of 53 years, Frances Allen; and his son, DuWayne D.
Hayes, December 4, 2004. Richard was born September 22, 1927, Lehi, Utah to
Alma D. and Catherine Fox Hayes. He married Frances February 13, 1947 in Salt
Lake City and she passed away August 9, 2000. Our dad and grandpa had a very
strong will and was very courageous, he was a member of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was employed and retired from W.P. Harlin
Construction. He was an excellent fly fisherman and enjoyed his fishing trips
with his dear friends, the Beesley's. He could do just about anything he set
his mind to. His granddaughters would say "Take it to grandpa, he can fix
anything." He loved spending time with his family and especially with his
granddaughters. Survived by daughters, Lynda Hayes, and Roberta (Gary) Smith;
granddaughters, Mckenzie and Alisha; brother, Kenneth A. Hayes; sister,
Marilyn Eatough; and many nieces and nephews, and good dear friends. Funeral
services will be held Wed-nesday December 10, 2004, 12 noon at the Butler
1stWard, 2695 East 7000 South. Friends may call at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460
E. Bengal Blvd. Tuesday December 9, 2004, from 6-8 p.m. and the day of from

Hill, James Jackson
James Jackson Hill 1910 ~2004  WELLSVILLE, UTAH- James Jackson Hill died of
natural causes at the age of 94, Wellsville, Utah in his own home as he
requested.He was born on Sept. 10, 1910, in Roberts, Jefferson, Idaho to
Chancey Eugene Hill and Hermonie Jackson. He has lived in Idaho and in
Roosevelt, Provo and Wellsville, Utah. He served a mission to the Central
States Mission. After his return he was drafted and served in Europe in World
War II as a medic. He returned home, met and married his spouse LaVetta Carter
who was the daughter of Layfayette Carter and Hettie Rebecca Tanner.  He was
preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters, Horace, Roy
Harold, June Hill, Alta Lovell, Crystal Broderick, Laurel Redd, as well as a
grandson, Robert Mathew Hill and a granddaughter Adie Elizabeth Ann Hill. He
is survived by his spouse, his children, Jimmy Hill of Elk, Washington; Marla
Price of San Antonio, Texas; Betty Horlacher of Wellsville, Utah; Robert Hill
of Huntington, Utah; Julia Purser of Pocatello, Idaho; Shirley Shallbetter of
Magna, Utah; Nancy Leafty of Magna, Utah; Helen Wheeler of Syracuse, Utah;
Richard Hill of Lehi, Utah; his brother George Hill, and sisters Faun
Bosworth, Joy Adams, Raola Lee, Wanda Daley, and Eva Ford, 43 grandchildren,
20 great-grandchildren. We will miss his wonderful presence in our midst and
we honor him for the wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather which
he was. He will truly be missed. Those wishing to attend, the funeral will be
held in the new Purple Church at 195 S. Center, Wellsville, Utah. We express
our greatest thanks for all who knew and helped serve our father in any way.
Our deepest appreciation goes to the Rocky Mountain Hospice workers who helped
in the last few weeks of his life. He truly loved and appreciated them. Thanks
to all who have assisted in the past year. A viewing will be held on Sunday,
Dec. 5, 2004 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary from 5-7 p.m. and also at the new
Purple Church from 9:00-10:00 a.m. before the Funeral which starts at 10:30
a.m. There will also be a small service before interment in the Provo City
Cemetery which will be at 3:00 p.m. in Provo.

Hirschi, Winona Buxton
Winona Buxton Hirschi 1910 ~ 2004 Winona Buxton Hirschi, age 94, died
peacefully December 1, 2004, in American Fork, Utah surrounded by loving
family. She was born November 15, 1910 in Driggs, Idaho to Stillman Buxton and
Lucinda Van Leuven Buxton. Student body vice-president of Teton High School,
she went on to graduate from Utah State University in Home Economics in 1932.
She married Lewis Edwin Hirschi in Bozeman, Montana, May 18, 1934, and they
were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1935. She taught school for many
years-high school in Idaho, and then elementary school in Salt Lake City, Utah
and Tucson, Arizona. She especially enjoyed teaching 5thgraders, and loved
watching them learn. Winona and Edwin built several homes with their own
hands, including their American Fork home, where they retired in 1976. They
served a full-time mission in the Swiss Temple and continued with many years
of temple work in the Provo Temple. She was a very devoted wife and mother,
and served in many LDS church positions. She especially enjoyed the Young
Women organization. Survivors include children, Sharen Smith and her husband,
Wayne, Mona Clark and her husband, George, all of Salt Lake City; Jay Hirschi
and his wife, Alyce, of Chicago, Illinois; and Marveen Dickey and her husband,
Carter, of Tucson, Arizona. Winona was fortunate to have 11 devoted
grandchildren, Lisa Hodson, Steven Smith, Sherry Hardy, Mike Smith, Holly
Nelson, Alan Daniels, Cynthia Robinson, Krysta Pemberton, Matt Dickey, Ben
Dickey and Abby Merchant. In addition, she found delight in her 33
great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Elda Wood, Logan, Utah. She was
preceded in death by her husband of almost 67 years, Lewis Edwin Hirschi. We
will always remember her generosity as a mother, homemaker, teacher, and a
devout church worker. Thanks to the staff and residents of Heritage Care
Center for their excellent care. Funeral services will be held at Larkin
Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South Tuesday, December 7, 2004, 11 a.m.
Friends may call Monday evening from 7-8 p.m. and 10 a.m. Tuesday, before the
services. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.

Hughes, Kenith McCoy
Kenith McCoy Hughes 1936 ~ 2004  Our loving husband, father, grandfather,
great-grandfather, and broth-er, Kenith McCoy Hughes, passed away peacefully
at home and returned to his Heavenly Father December 2, 2004.Kenith was born
February 11, 1936 in Mount Pleasant, Utah. He was the first child born to
loving parents named Joseph Worthen Hughes and Bertha Christina Larsen Hughes.
Kenith grew up in Mt. Pleasant, working very hard to help out his family. He
graduated from North Sanpete High in 1954. Kenith moved to Salt Lake City
where he met a girl that melted his heart. He married that girl, Faye LaPreal
Hubner August 24, 1956 in the Salt Lake Temple. Kenith joined the National
Guard and served for two years; he also served in the Army Reserves for six
years. He attended Snow College and earned his Bachelors of Science degree in
Accounting in 1972 from the University of Utah. He worked very hard to obtain
his degree; he worked full time at his job while attending college and raising
a family. Kenith served in the Boy Scouts of America for 15 years. He enjoyed
this calling very much. Numerous scouting trips were taken with Kenith. He
influenced many young men who passed through this program under his guidance.
He worked for Hercules as an Engineering Technician for 7« years and as an
accountant at Gibbons & Reed for 5« years. He worked at Memorial Estates for
30 years as an accountant; he also worked in sales and was the top salesman
for many years. He retired in 2002. Kenith was a member of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints. He faithfully served in many callings in the
following organizations; Young Men, Elders Quorum, Sunday School, high priest,
stake financial clerk, ward clerk, sports, two bishoprics, and branch
presidency at the Detention Center. Kenith loved to travel with his wife. They
traveled to 47 states and 12 countries. He enjoyed doing genealogy, purchasing
and restoring old cars,woodworking and learning about historical places and
people. He also enjoyed building homes for himself and his children. Kenith
loved his family! Family was everything to him! Kenith enjoyed fishing,
vacationing, playing games and talking to his family. He also enjoyed his good
friends that he had for many years. Kenith was a hard worker his whole life.
He tried hard to never let his mother, wife, and family go without anything.
He was kind, mannerly, and considerate of others. He was always a good example
to everyone. We will miss him dearly. Kenith is survived by his longtime
companion of 48 years, Faye L. Hughes; one son, Eric Hughes (Leslie); five
daughters, Corrinne Ackerman (Wayne), Rhonda Sherman (Layne), Lynette Carlston
(Gary), Shelly Saxton (Gary), and Andrea Jenkins. Kenith has 22 grandchildren,
and four great-granddaughters. He is survived by two brothers, Wayne D. Hughes
and Ralph L. Hughes (Vallene); and one sister, Jolene R. Duke (Cal); and many
nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father, Joseph W. Hughes; mother,
Bertha L. Hughes; and half-brothers and half-sister, Dar Hughes, Worthen
Hughes, Helen Hahn; and a granddaughter, Larissa Jenkins. Funeral services
will be held December 11, 2004, 11 a.m. at the South Jordan 3rdWard chapel,
9750 South 2200 West, South Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be held December 10,
2004 from 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Mortuary 5850 South 900 East Murray, Utah. A
viewing will also be held prior to the funeral from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 South.

Donna Jean Roberts Howcroft Hulett 1932 ~ 2004  Died November 20, 2004 in
Birmingham, AL. She was born January 26, 1932 in Salt Lake City to Charles
Eldon and Pricilla Hill Roberts. She married Blaine Nephi Howcroft November
13, 1948. After Blaine's untimely death she married Charles Hulett and
relocated to Alabama where she thrived in the warm sunny climate. She was an
exceptional mother who exemplified unconditional love. She will be dearly
missed by her family and all those who knew her. This remarkable lady had the
ability to brighten anyone's day. Whatever Donna touched could be counted on
to flourish and bloom. She is survived by her husband, Charles, Goodwater, AL;
children, Ernest (Marti) Howcroft, Buhl, ID, Doyle (Kelly) Howcroft, Weogufka,
AL, Clinton (Valerie) Howcroft, Vernal, UT, Linda (Robert) Holm, Sandy, UT,
Guy, Twin Falls, ID, Blake (Karen) Howcroft, Fairview, UT, Ginger (Mark)
Warnick, Pleasant Grove, UT, David (Martha) Hulett, Goodwater, AL, Tammy (Ben)
Howze, TX. She was the proud grandmother of 32 grandchildren and 41
great-grandchildren. Also survived by brothers and sisters, Gwen Birkes, Ivin,
UT, Carol Satterfield, Edward (Bud) and Michael Roberts; and her stepmother,
Marian Roberts, all of Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her
eternal companion, Blaine; her parents; and her two brothers, William and
Richard. Funeral services will be held Tuesday December 7, 2004, with a
viewing at 11 a.m., services to follow at 12 noon in the chapel at Memorial

great mountains," Julian Jake peacefully passed into the arms of his awaiting

first sight." Worked in social services most of his life, serving his people.
Their children Mary Davis, Shirley Abeita, Winona Jones, Erdman Jake, Anthony
Jake, Nevie Jake and Celina Freeman and their spouses, together with his grand
and great-grandchildren, celebrate his life and honor him. After funeral
services held Dec. 4th,he will be returned to rest in "Dinetah", Whitehorse
Lake, NM, where he was born and longed to return. We love you, Dad.

Jay Aidan Jones 2003 ~ 2004  ST. GEORGE, UT - Jay Aidan Jones, born May 20,
2003 to Jared Earl and Jennifer Johnson Jones, died November 23, 2004. Our
sweet little Aidan passed away in Primary Children's Center following surgery
to remove his diseased kidneys. He captured the hearts of everyone who saw him
with his engaging smile, flirty eyes, and loving personality. He was a snuggle
bug, and comforted those who comforted him. Those who will miss him most are
his parents, Jared and Jennifer, grandparents, Ivor and Gracia Jones, and
Sherry H. Jones of St. George; grandparents, Jay and Barbara Johnson of
Kemmerer, Wyoming; so many uncles, aunts, and cousins; and the skydiving
"family" from around the world. "By passing across our horizons, He lent
beauty to our sunset skies." Memorial services were held Saturday, November

Barend Christiaan Lems "Ben"  Our beloved son, brother, uncle and friend
returned to his Heavenly Father December 3, 2004. He was born October 27, 1985
in Salt Lake City to Jim and Nora Lems. Ben loved NASCAR, fishing, camping and
boating with his family and friends. His sense of humor and laughter will be
greatly missed. Ben loved school and graduated a year early from West Jordan
High School in 2002. He was currently working on his Bachelor Degree. He was a
loving uncle to Yanus, Makayla and Kayden. He is survived by his parents;
sister, Candace (William) Bradshaw; Grand-ma and Grandpa Hart; and many aunts,
uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his
grandparents; cousin, Rob; and six nieces and nephews. Funeral services will
be held Tuesday December 7, 11 a.m. at the Plum Creek Ward, 1465 W. Bristol
Drive (8420 So). A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at

Longmore, Jane Ann "Jennie"
Jane Ann "Jennie" Longmore Short "Top o' the morning!"  Our beloved mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, and friend passed away December
2, 2004, in her home at the age of 92.  Born June 24, 1912 in West Hartlepool,
England to William and Jane Ann Longmore. Married Cyril Short, August 2, 1937.
He passed away February 3, 1977.  Jennie and Cyril were modern-day pioneers
leaving their home in England to start a new life in Salt Lake City in 1952.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Jennie were truly blessed by her
delightful sense of humor, her compassionate spirit, and have probably been
recipients of her beautiful handiwork. She was never idle a day in her life
and loved to share her home and her sweet spirit with others. We will miss
her. She is survived by three sons, Kenneth (Maureen), Barry (Linda), and
Alan. She is also survived by her very special and much loved daughter, Debra
Jean. She has been blessed with seven grandchildren and 11
great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held Monday, December 6th,
12:00 noon at Rose Park 2nd Ward, 760 N. 1200 W. Friends may call Sunday from

active member of the Catholic Church in Ogden. He lived in Ogden since 1966.

John HenryMakinen 11/07/17 ~ 12/01/04  Our loving father passed away
peacefully Dec. 1, 2004. He was 87 years old. He was a tease, a hard worker
and a strong man who had many life adventures including building his own home,
gardening, owning and working a 300-acre farm, living in the Idaho forest,
boating and fishing at the lake house and enjoying the humming birds at the
cabin. He retired from Kennecott after 45 years. He had a great life. He loved
his family and was always there for us. We love him and will miss him. He is
survived by his wife Kay and three daughters: Pat Stewart and Roger, Lynn
Weeks and Alan, and Jan Maynard and Steven, seven grandsons: Sean and Gina,
Matt, Andrew and Jaynee, Evan, Patrick, Noah and Gabe and two
great-grandchildren: Sydney and Casey. Friends and family are invited to

Donald Howard Martin "Duck"  Donald Howard Martin was born March 4, 1936 to
Charlie and Marguerite Annie Womack Martin in Oxford, Kansas. Last trip to the
grocery stores with his coupons Nov. 25, 2004; passed Dec. 3, 2004 from
complications of leukemia. Graduated from Southwestern College in Winfield,
Kansas; served his country in the Army; dedicated employee of Continental Oil
Company for 17 years and retired from the State of Utah after 22 years. Don
liked to tell stories of his childhood, kept many lifelong friends. Don was
very outspoken and honest. He enjoyed golf, cooking, fishing, and working in
his beautiful yard. He loved his free trips to Wendover to eat shrimp with
Larry. Family left behind: wife, Sherry; his kids, Tracy, Matthew, Mary, Tom,
Kathy, and Paul; grandchildren, Lucas, Lance, Brett, Myles, Cole, and
Charlotte; his brother, Womack. Preceded in death by parents and sister. A
memorial service will be held at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood
Rd, W. Jordan Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004 at 4 p.m. We love you Dad, you are one in

McGhie, Jean W.
Jean W. McGhie 1924 ~ 2004  Jean W. McGhie 80 of Snohomish, WA., passed away
at her home on November 12, 2004 from complications with emphysema. She was
born on October 5, 1924 in Salt Lake City, UT to Willis H. and Gladys
(Holladay) Gale. She attended South High School in Salt Lake City and
graduated in 1942. She then married Glen M. McGhie on June 29, 1942. Jean had
a beautiful singing voice and performed in front of live audiences in her
early twenties. She was a talented seamstress and a gifted artist that dabbled
in watercolors, ceramics, and china painting. She also had a great passion for
horses and was an active participant in her daughter's riding and showing
activities. She is survived by her children Brian and Shelley McGhie. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Glen McGhie; her parents, Willis and Gladys;
and her brothers Dewey and Gordon Gale. Memorial donations may be made to the
American Lung Association 1930 S. 1100 E. Salt Lake City, UT 84106.

Nancy Marie (Neeltze) VanRy McKinley 1923 ~ 2004  Nancy Marie (Neeltze) VanRy
McKinley passed away in Salt Lake City on December 1, 2004.  She was born in
Rotterdam, Holland on July 29, 1923 to Jacobus and Adriaantije VanRy. She
graduated from South High in 1941 and married Frederick Paul McKinley on Feb.
3, 1945 in Los Angeles, Ca. She was an active member of the LDS church and
Sunday Andersen West side senior center and was a volunteer there for years.
She worked for and retired from Best Cleaners. Nancy is survived by her sons;
Doug (Deborah) McKinley, Paul (Anne) McKinley, her sister Mary Gunther, three
grandchildren and seven great grandchildren Preceded in death by her husband,
parents and six brothers and sisters. She never met anyone she did not like.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 6, 2004 at 12:00 at Wasatch Lawn
Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive. The family will receive friends on Monday from
10:45-11:45. Interment will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Merrill, Hazel
Hazel Merrill 1916 ~ 2004  Eunice Hazel Anderson Merrill, beloved mother,
grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on December 3, 2004, at 88
years of age surrounded by her loved ones. Born February 29, 1916 in Saint
Anthony, Idaho to Frederick A. and Fern Y. Anderson. Hazel celebrated only 22
real birthdays because she was a leap year baby. She enjoyed a wonderful
birthday party this year surrounded by friends and family. Married Frank M.
Merrill Feb. 14, 1941. They were married for 52 years. Frank passed away May
25, 1993. Hazel is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints. She worked in Chicago, IL. when she was young and at LDS Hospital
where she met her future mother-in-law and husband. She also worked for
Darrell's Beauty Salon and Kay Dunn's Beauty Salon. Hazel will be missed by
all that knew her. She was a talented seamstress and a wonderful cook. She
enjoyed caring for her home and family. Hazel always had her hair and nails
well groomed and loved to wear pretty dresses. She sewed her dresses and
dresses for her daughters and nieces. Many of her posterity treasure the
handmade quilts made for them. Her crystal icicles adorn many Christmas trees
and will be a constant reminder of her love. Whenever we have cake with
chocolate frosting or graham cracker cookies with chocolate frosting,
grandma's memory will be with us. Mom always told us that "paprika" adds color
to our lives. Survived by her children, Steven (Nancy) Merrill, Kaysville;
Susan (Larry) Christenson, West Valley City; Craig (Stephanie) Merrill, West
Jordan; Colleen (Tom) Clark, West Haven; 18 grandchildren and 31
great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Jane Harward and Joann Symmes and many
nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Frank; sisters,
Merene Scurachio and laVern Spainhower; brother Gerald "Bud" Anderson;
granddaughter Amy Celeste Clark. The family would like to thank CareSource
Hospice and the Rocky Mountain Hospice for the loving kindness and care given

Jeanne Moynier 1923 ~ 2004  PRICE- Norma Jeanne Empey Moynier, age 81, passed
away December 2, 2004 in Price. Born September 6, 1923 in Price, Utah to Carl
and Polly Jessen Empey. She was one of four children, including Waneta, Carl
and Max who all preceded her in death. Married Leon M. Moynier, Sr., October
25, 1941 in Ely, Nevada; he died April 13, 1971. Member of the LDS Church.
Lifelong resident of Carbon County and graduate of Carbon High School. During
her life she was a member of the Board of Directors of the Carbon County
Nursing Home. She was an active member and held offices in the Price Ladies of
Elks, Price Sorrocis, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and Beta Sigma Phi.
Jeanne was a loving mother, wife and she helped support her husband in the
sheep ranching business. She was a pillar of strength for her family and a
mentor, counselor, and friend to all those who knew her. Survived by daughter,
Lea Maureen (Joe) Levisky, Colorado Springs, CO; son, Leon M. (Dee) Moynier
Jr., Price; five grandchildren, Joseph and Ann Marie Levisky, Leon, Cory and
Cody Moynier; and five great-grand-children. Funeral service, Monday, December
6, 2004, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell's

Paul, Janis Morgan
Janis Morgan Paul 1952 ~ 2004  Janis Morgan Paul , 52, passed away December 1,
2004 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born July 7, 1952, to George Davis
Morgan and Ruby Chapman Morgan in Salt Lake City. She married Lynn Paul,
August 31, 1984, in Salt Lake City. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Janis graduated from Olympus High School in 1970 and attended Stevens Henager
Business College for two years and graduated with an Associate Degree. She
worked for both the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department and the Salt Lake
County Attorney's Office. Most recently she served as CEO for "My Good
Scents," a company that she and her husband, Lynn, established She especially
enjoyed music, gardening, collecting miniatures of all sorts and varieties,
and had a great love and a huge heart for animals. She loved her home, her
neighborhood and its peaceful mountain stream. Survived by husband, Lynn Paul,
Sandy, UT; Stepson, Christian Paul, Sandy, Utah; sisters, Marilyn Fergu-son,
Sherwood, Arkansas, and Linda Morgan, Salt Lake City; brother, David Morgan,
Petaluma, California. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2004,
12 noon at the Willow Creek Stake Center, 2250 E. Creek Road (8200 S.) Sandy
Utah. Friends may call Monday evening at Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 East 10600
South, Sandy, UT from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to service at the church.

Peterson, Virginia Marie Berntsen
Virginia Marie Berntsen Peterson 1915 ~ 2004  Our beloved mother, grandmother,
and great-grandmother, Virginia Ma-rie Berntsen Peterson, 88, a choice
daughter of God, peacefully returned to her Father in Heaven from causes
incident to age, Tuesday November 9, 2004 Virginia was born December 12, 1915
in Salt Lake City to Christopher and Meta Marie Victoria Just Bernt-sen. She
graduated from South High School and married Heber Jay Peterson August 24,
1935 in the Salt Lake Temple. A member of The church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints she served in many capacities. She worked for many years for
the LDS Church at the Church Office Building. A compassionate woman, she cared
for several sick family members through the years. She was very proud of her
ever growing posterity. She is survived by her three children, James J.
(Margo), David Kay, Jeanette Young (Wally); 12 grandchildren; and 35
great-grandchildren. The family thanks her loving neighbors and the staff at
The Murray Care Center for their loving care. Well done thou faithful servant.
You will be missed.

Sanchez, Ruth Sandoval
Ruth Sandoval Sanchez 1954 ~ 2004  In loving memory of Ruth Sandoval Sanchez;
beloved daughter, mother, sister and grandmother. Ruth was born February 24,
1954 to Maria D. and Thomas F. Sandoval in Grand Junction, Colorado. After a
long and courageous battle, she died peacefully in her sleep due to
complications of scleroderma on December 3rd of 2004 surrounded by her loving
family.  She graduated from Granite High School in Salt Lake City, Utah. She
married Toby Jacquez. Later divorced. Married Frankie Sanchez. Widowed. And
married Michael Orosco. Ruth loved reading, gardening, sewing, but above all
she enjoyed spending time with her three children and two grandsons. She is
survived by her mother Maria Sandoval and father Thomas (Mary) Sandoval; three
children, Melissa (Sean) Leatherbury, Joseph Jacquez, and Iisha Sanchez; two
grandsons who were the pride and light of her life, Seth and Nicholas
Leatherbury; the oldest of 13 siblings, Lori, Marylee, Tim, Kathy (Manny),
Susie (Barry), Stephen (Sheila), Anna (Randy), Jerri (Steve), Jeannette
(Larry), Daniel, and Sarena. Preceded in death by her brother Daniel David. 
To follow with her last wish and to continue her ongoing battle with
scleroderma, she requested that her body be donated to further the research
and find a cure for scleroderma. In lieu of flowers, the family requests

MA 01922. Her children would like to express our love and profound thanks to

the Worker (7405 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan). Luncheon in her honor will
immediately follow Mass at Draper Friends Christian Church, 11585 S. State St.

Schwemmer, Karl
Karl Schwemmer 1928 ~ 2004  Karl Heinz Schwemmer, age 76 passed away
peacefully on December 2, 2004, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Karl was born in
Gruenholz, Germany on June 9, 1928, to his parents Heinrich and Albertine
Wieczoreck Schwemmer. In 1957 he immigrated with his wife to America. Here he
continued working as a painter. He developed a talent in painting pictures,
which became his hobby. He was an active High Priest in his ward and was
involved with the cub scouts. Karl was always quick with a joke and brought
excitement into every party. Karl is survived by his wife  Rosalinde;
brothers, Walter (Silvia) and Fred (Brunhilde). Graveside services for Karl
will be held on Monday December 6, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. View Memorial
Estates Cemetery, 3107 East 7800 South. Friends may call Monday morning from
9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East.

Smith, John Walter
John Walter Smith 1951 ~2004  John passed away doing what he loved most,
"Golfing." John left this earth on November 30, 2004.John was born Aug. 20,
1951 in Wichita, Kansas to Robert Dale Smith and Betty Jane Jordan Smith. John
had been retired for over a year. Prior to his death John was employed by Salt
Lake County Fire, as a paramedic. John graduated from Olympus High School in
1969. He married his high school sweetheart, Colleen Rindfleisch Smith,
September 18, 1970 and later the marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake
Temple on February 1, 1978. John graduated from Weber State College as a
paramedic with honors. He served the county residents for 25 years with his
knowledge and dedication to serve. He was active in the Utah Air National
Guard, joining in 1969 and he retired with 26 years of service. John always
strove to do his best in everything he did and always did everything well. He
loved to golf, play racquetball and winning at dominoes. ("Bruce's' Rules")
John will be greatly missed. His infectious dimples, and his smirkey grins,
his gentle touch, his loving arms, his never ending strength, were just a few
of his special qualities. John leaves behind his wife of 34 years, three
beautiful daughters; Tamara (Vint) Pyper, Nicole (Ivan Reed) Briggs, Angela
Kaye (James) Eldredge; his wonderful sons-in-law, Vint, Reed and James; seven
beautiful grandchildren, Makayli, Andrew, Mason, Brendan, Aislin, Maklain and
Maloree; his mother Betty Jane Smith; three sisters, Jan (Fred) Partin, Cheri
(Ray) Roberts, Sidney (Gail) Waite; seven nieces and five nephews and several
great nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his father, Robert
Dale Smith, his mother-in-law, Beverly Putman Rindfleisch, his grandparents,
Rose and Walter Smith. John loved his special pets, "Bo" and "Sassy". John was
proud of his Indian heritage, his children, and grandchildren, and leaves
behind his many wonderful friends. I love you, "love bug", and I will miss you
greatly. Have fun playing golf with your dad. Remember honey "for all time and
eternity." Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 6, 2004 at 11  a.m.
at Cottonwood Sixth Ward, 4930 (South) West Moor Road at approx. 1700 East.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 5, 2004 from 5-7 p.m. at
Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Dr and on Monday one hour prior to
service. Interment will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Smurthwaite, Patricia Lee
Patricia Lee Smurthwaite 1932 ~ 2004  Patricia Lee Smurthwaite passed away
December 1, 2004. She was born to Charles and Violet Morse November 19, 1932.
She loved and lived every minute of her life. With her love for people, and
her joyous helpful hand attitude she changed the lives of those she touched.
Pat married Herb Donham in 1950. They raised nine children. Herb died of
cancer in 1985. Pat truly enjoyed her successful singing career. Beginning
with picking up coins at the corner caf‚ to the nightclubs of Southern
California, she loved the glitter of the Las Vegas strip. Her last gig was at
the Queen Mary moored in Long Beach, California. Pat turned her enthusiastic
talents to business. She worked in real estate and founded three 'Women in
Business' networking clubs and enjoyed doing business seminars. In 1990 Pat
married C.J. Smurthwaite. On trips to visit C.J.'s family in Salt Lake, she
fell in love with the mountains and they moved to Salt Lake City in 1997. She
worked as a loan officer and poured her efforts into community services. She
worked with the Sandy Chamber of Commerce, and the Exchange Club. She was
involved with the Healing Fields, the Field of Flags, the Sandy 4th of July
Parade and the Walter Frederick Morrison Disc Gold Course. At the time of her
death she was involved in an effort to have prison inmates train dogs to aid
the handicapped. Pat is survived by her husband C.J.; children, Terry, George,
Mark, Jackie, David; and many grandchildren. Services will be held Monday,
Dec. 6, 2004, 11 a.m. at Crescent 23rd Ward Chapel, 10375 S. 630 E. (Leilani
Dr.) Sandy, Utah. Friends may call Sunday 6-8 p.m. at Lake Hills Mortuary,
10055 S. State St. and Monday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment at
Lake Hills Memorial Cemetery.

Stanger, Elizabeth Jackson "Beth"
Elizabeth "Beth" Jackson Stanger 1912 ~2004  Our much beloved grandmother,
mother, aunt, and friend, Beth Jackson Stanger, age 89, passed away peacefully
December 2, 2004 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was truly loved, and will be
long remembered by everyone who knew her. Beth was born in Lehi, Utah October
17, 1912 to her parents William "Elmer" Jackson and Juliet Peterson Jackson.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn "Jack" Mulliner Stanger. Beth
is survived by her two sons, Nick Jon Stanger (Escondido, CA), and Scott
Jackson Stanger (Salt Lake City); as well as her eight grandchildren, Jon
Stanger (Escondido, CA), Nicole Stanger Davis, Daniel Stanger (Portland, OR),
Eric Stanger (Fernley, NV), Karissa Stanger Mullen (Provo), Jeremy Stanger
(Sacramento, CA), and Matthew Stanger (Salt Lake City); two nieces, Glenna
Oldham (Lehi) and Julie Reese (Payson); and many great-grandchildren who will
miss her dearly. Beth was an accomplished equestrian who rode competitively
for years, as well as with The Silver Spurs riding club. Beth's greatest joy
in life was spending time with her family and friends. She was happiest at any
celebration where she could dress up, wear a beautiful hat, and make the most
of each day. As 55-year resident and honorary mayor of Walker Lane, she was a
comfort and delight to so many who visited her regularly for her endless
hospitality, her infectious laugh, and her indomitable, loving spirit. Her
funeral will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2004, 1 p.m. at the Holladay
Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. Viewing will
also happen at Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday December 7,
2004 and one hour prior to services Wednesday. Interment, Mount Olivet
Cemetery, Salt Lake City.

Tavey, Danny V.
Danny V. Tavey 1955 ~ 2004  Danny V. Tavey , age 49, passed away Thursday,
December 3, 2004. He was born April 28, 1955 to Beulah Markham and Reed
Vincent Tavey. He was a loving father and grandfather to Stacey Tavey and
Blake. He graduated from Judge Memorial High School. He liked camping,
boating, and loved his dogs, Muffy and Mabel. He also had a big interest in
cars. He made friends easily and liked to make people laugh. He was employed
at Kennecott Copper for many years and retired from there. He will be missed
by all his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Stacey Tavey;
grandson, Blake of Lancaster, CA; brother, Joe Tavey; sister, Grace Gray;
brother-in-law, Delon Hawkins; sister-in-law, Shari Tavey; and many nieces and
nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Beulah and Reed Tavey; sister, Linda
Hawkins; and brother, Hal Tavey. Funeral services will be held Monday Dec 6,
2004, 11 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State St., with a viewing at
10 a.m. Burial, Red-wood Memorial Estates, 6500 So. Redwood Road.

Vogel, Liselotte (Lousie)
Liselotte (Lousie) Vogel 1925 ~ 2004  Louise passed away in Sydney, Australia
on November 21, 2004 after a brief illness while on vacation.  She was born in
Aesch, Switzerland on April 11, 1925 and came to the United States as a young
woman to join her sponsors in Sandusky, Ohio. She moved west and spent 40
years of her life in Brighton in the mountains she loved and the last 25 years
in Old Farm. Liz, as she was affectionately know, enjoyed her world travels,
volunteering, swimming and baking Swiss specialties for friends. Husband,
Alfred H. Vogel, preceded her in death. Her son, Dr. Dennis Eicher, a sister,
Anna Marie Ebneter-Vogel, and nephew, Bruno Ebneter-Baudendistel, survive.
Services will be held December 11, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes, 2840
S. 9000 W. in Magna. Contact Father Andrew for directions at 250-6349.

Walton, Harriet Flockton Dunlop Lang
Harriet Flockton Dunlop Lang Walton "Our Lassie" 11/7/32 ~ 12/3/04  Our
dearest wife and mother passed into our Heavenly Father's peace December 3,
2004. She suffered from Parkinson's devastating effects for many years, but
her spirit could not be broken. She was born in Glasgow, Scotland to Thomas
M.M. Lang and Agnes Flockton, November 7, 1932. She was an excellent homemaker
in every way, she crocheted and knitted. Was a chorister in the 11th Ward
Primary as well as librarian and she loved her garden. She had a smile that
was heartwarming. Harriet is survived by her husband of 50 years, Hal Walton;
children, Heather (John) Schoenfeld of Holladay, Utah, Richard (Carol) Walton
of Salt Lake, Frances (Jay) Brummett of Salt Lake, and Scott Walton of Salt
Lake; sisters, Agnes (John) McDiarmid of Alabama, Ina (John) Wilson of
England, Christina Malmstrom of West Valley, and Rosemary (Clyde) Powell of
Washington. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert Walton; and
brothers, James and Thomas Lang. We wish to thank the staff at Harmony Hospice
for their dedicated support over these last years. Funeral services will be
held Tuesday December 7, 2004, 10 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401
High-land Drive. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m.
and Tuesday from 9-10 a.m. Interment will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial
Park.

Woodland, Donna Smith Jensen
Donna Smith Jensen Woodland 1934 ~ 2004  Donna Woodland, from Ogden, Utah,
passed away peacefully Nov. 30, 2004 in West Jordan, Utah. In her last few
weeks on earth she was constantly surrounded by her family and loved ones. She
was born Nov. 11, 1934 in Garland, Utah, daughter of Dorothy White and Don
Francis Smith. She was sealed to her true parents, Roy P. and Dorothy W.
Jensen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. We are all convinced that "Daddy" Roy P.
Jensen, who preceded her in death, was there to welcome her with open arms.
Also preceded in death by Don Francis Smith and granddaughter, Melanie Ann
Woodland. Donna is survived by her mother, Dorothy W. Jensen, Mesa, AZ;
brother, Michael (Kathy) Jensen, South Jordan; brother, Milton (Diane) Jensen,
Pine Top, AZ; sons, Ken (Mary) Woodland, Tooele; Mark (Barb) Woodland, Ogden;
daughters, Kim Woodland, Kearns; Diana (Loal) Lee, West Jordan; Betty
Woodland, Ogden; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were her most
precious possessions.  Donna's greatest joy was her "babies"; she smiled the
most and was the happiest when she had her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren around her. She will be missed by them and by all of us.
Her funeral will be held Monday, December 6, 2004, 11:00 a.m. at the West
Jordan Mountain View Stake Center, 2901 W. 9000 S. where a viewing will be
held Mon., 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery, West Jordan.
Mothers hold their children's hands for just a little while . . . their hearts
forever. We love you, Mom.
