Basta, Robert Lee
Robert Lee Basta 1932 ~2004  Robert Lee Basta, 72, passed away on Nov. 12,
2004 of respiratory failure.Bob was born April 15, 1932, in Terrero, New
Mexico to Steve and Molly Ann Basta. Moved to Utah as child. In 1950, Bob
graduated from Jordan High School, and has loved and supported the Beetdiggers
ever since. On November 1, 1955, Bob married Betty Ann Milligan in Las Vegas,
NV. They truly enjoyed each others company. Bob enjoyed spending time with his
family. He especially liked to take his children and grandchildren fishing.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Steve and Luke. Bob is
survived by his wife, Betty; daughters, Susan (James) Jennings and Janet
Basta; sons, Gary, Scott, Brent, Bryan (Lori), and "adopted son" Marino Cabusi
Jr.; sister, Donna MacFarlane; brother, Donald Basta; grandchildren, Ashley,
Amber, Jackson, Dallas, Zachery, and Joey; step grandchildren, C.J., Annie,
and Anthony. A graveside service will be held Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004 at 1
p.m. at the Sandy City Cemetery. Friends may call the day of the service from
11-12:30 at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St.

Bird, Melvin Claude
Melvin Claude Bird  "Gone Campin' "  Our loving husband, father, grandfather,
brother and friend, Melvin Claude Bird, age 73, returned home to his Heavenly
Father on November 13, 2004. Born October 16, 1931 in Bluebell, Utah, to
Clarence Oran and Lydia Lisonbee Bird. He married his sweetheart, Ola DeVon
Maxfield, June 19, 1954 in Altonah, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized
in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 26, 1978. He loved hunting, fishing and
camping. He loved to play his harmonica and sing around the campfire, fix old
cars and drive them in parades. He was a very kind and loving man and will be
missed by all. He is survived by his wife, Ola; sons, Lonnie (Nancy), Rick
(Laura); daughters, Wanda (Stephen) Handy, Teresa (Mike) Wickham; three
grandsons and three granddaughters. The family would like to thank all of the
doctors and nurses at University Hospital for their kindness, care and
support. Funeral services will be Wed., Nov. 17, at 12:00 noon at Western
Hills 2nd Ward, 5380 W. 5400 S. A viewing will be from 10-11:45 a.m. at the
church. Services under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home. Interment,
Redwood Memorial Estates.

Borro, Alfred A.
Alfred A. Borro 1916 ~ 2004  Alfred A. Borro , 88, passed away peacefully
Friday Nov. 12, 2004. He lived his life with quiet dignity and a love for the
outdoors. He was born Oct 9, 1916 in Hells Kitchen, New York. He graduated
from NYU with an MS in Mechanical Engineering and went on to work as an
aerospace engineer. Alfred was a longstanding member of the ASME, NYU Alumni
Association, NRA and the Utah Gun Collectors Association. After his
retirement, he enjoyed volunteering for the U of U, and received awards for
his many hours of commitment. He will be deeply missed by all his friends and
family. Alfred was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; and is survived by
his daughter, Lorraine; and son-in-law, Dave of Phoenix, AZ. A memorial
service is planned for Wednesday, November 17, 12 noon at the Mt. Olympus
Presbyterian Church, 3280 E. 3900 S.

Carlile, Michele
Michele Carlile 1954 ~ 2004  Our loving wife, mom, grandma, Michele Maureen
Blake Carlile, age 50, passed away on Nov. 14, 2004 in Salt Lake City as a
result of blood cancer. Michele was born on Aug. 5, 1954 in Long Beach,
California to John And Josephine Hessel Blake. She married Richard Carlile on
April 17, 1975 in the Provo LDS Temple. For the past 11 years Michele had been
working as a Media Specialist at the NUES Center. She adored her family and
appreciated her many friends and neighbors. During her life she served
faithfully in her church callings.  Survived by her husband, Richard of Heber;
children, Blake (Mary Ann) of Denver; Christie (Charles) Balch of Ogden; Nolan
of Logan and Anne of Heber; two grandchildren, Brielle and Brooke; three
sisters.  Preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held on
Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Heber 9th Ward, 550 E. 500 N. Visitations will be
held Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services
BOTH at the church. Burial will be in the Heber City Cemetery. Arrangements in
care of Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home.

Chipman, Stephen McKinney
Stephen McKinney Chipman "Mack"  Stephen McKinney Chipman, 68, returned to his
Heavenly home Nov. 14, 2004.  He was born in Ferron, Utah to Ralph Southwick
and Mary Kaziah McKinney Chipman, April 7, 1936 but grew up in American Fork.
He married Rosemarie Schmidt on June 23, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple. Served
as a water master, bus driver and taught 6th grade for seven years. Loved the
outdoors and was active in sports, farming and livestock. He was a devoted
husband and father who loved spending time with his family. Active member of
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings
including as a bishop, as a missionary in Western States Mission and with his
wife in the Springfield, Missouri Mission and most recently as a temple worker
in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. Survived by his wife, four sons and four
daughters: Alan (Tammy) Chipman; Brian (Brenda) Chipman; Calvin (Tisha)
Chipman; Darin (Kristin) Chipman; Elaine (John) Watson; Francine (Todd)
Carter; Gaylyn (Brent) Worthington; Heidi (Casey) Mitchell; 26 grandchildren,
two great-grand-children; and a sister Helen Hatch. Preceded in death by
parents, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral will be held 11 a.m. Thursday,
Nov. 18 in the American Fork Harbor Ward, 600 S. 100 W. Friends may call Wed.
evening from 6-8 p.m. at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 E 100 N and 9:45-10:45
a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial in American Fork Cemetery.

Connors,  Pauline Joan "Polly"
Pauline "Polly" Joan Connors 1930 ~2004  Pauline "Polly" Joan Connors went on
to be with her husband on Nov. 11, 2004. She was born in Warren, Montana on
October 11, 1930 to John and Grace Matney, the third child of 10 brothers and
sisters. The family moved to Missoula, Montana when she was young and that is
where she grew up. She moved to Seattle in her early twenties and worked at a
phone operator, where she met a young red headed soldier and they fell in love
and married. They moved to Portland, Oregon where their children were born.
Work took the family to John Day, Oregon, then to Upland, California, and
finally to Salt Lake City. The friends she met along the way were still a part
of her life when she passed on. When she liked someone she really liked them.
She worked at Our Lady of Lourdes and Judge Memorial cafeteria where she
worked with old friends and acquired new ones, staff and students alike. She
was frank and plain spoken, yet gentle. In the anguish of her physical pain
she always thought of others. She would send a thoughtful note or card, sew a
quilt for someone, send money, or just relay a kind word. She is survived by
her sons, grandsons, sisters, brothers, in-laws and outlaws, and her three
animal companions, Sassy, Sugar, Chewie. She will be buried at the Willamette
National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon, beside her husband and daughter. A
funeral mass will be celebrated Wed. at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes
Catholic Church, 670 S. 1100 E., where friends may call from 6-7 p.m. Funeral
Directors, Neil O'Donnell and Sons.

Carmen R. Dennis Happy Birthday 11/16/49 ~ 11/22/97   On this 55th birthday we
would have had great celebration. Our sons teasing you about getting older and
listening intently to your tales of the day's hunt. We would have had good
food, good drink, and great company. You probably would have brought the day's
harvest to be cooked for the celebration. We miss you so very much. Without

Edwards, Ivadea Peden
Ivadea Peden Edwards "DeeDee"  Cherished by family and friends Ivadea Edwards
has fulfilled her earthly mission. Born in Torrey, Utah July 04, 1923 to
Robert and Julia Peden, she married Russell Paul Edwards, the love of her
life, Sept. 1, 1941. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in
1966. Being in the temple with her husband was her "favorite place to be."
Always concerned for others, she wanted to serve her family even when she was
sick. In her youth she performed in church events as a tap dancer and singer.
She was a meticulous homemaker and enjoyed fishing and visiting scenic spots
in Wayne County, Utah. She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years,
Russell; daughters, Judi (Gerald) Stevens, and Lynda (Richard) Ronfeldt;
grandchildren, Deedra, Mark, Julie, Michael, John, and Jeffrey; and sister,
Bobbie Yee. Preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Scott Stevens;
brother, Hugh; and sisters, Helen, Hannah, Faris, Marge, and June. Funeral
services will be held Wed-nesday, November 17, 11 a.m. at the Colonial Hills
2nd Ward, 1455 S. 1700 E., with a viewing from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to
services. The family would like to thank the CareSource Hospice staff,
especially Cindy, for their loving care.

Finch, Wanda Sommers
Wanda Sommers Finch 1913 ~ 2004  SOUTH OGDEN   Wanda Leona Warren Sommers
Finch, 91, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 14, 2004.
Wanda was born October 30, 1913, in Freedom, Wyoming, a daughter of Thomas
Walter and Annie Elizabeth Wolfley Warren. She graduated from Star Valley High
School in Afton, Wyoming. She married Elmer Sommers on August 19, 1931, in the
Salt Lake LDS Temple. They moved to the Ogden area in 1942 with their four
children. Elmer preceded her in death on August 8, 1975, following a long
career as a teacher at Ogden High School. Wanda married Eugene J. Finch on
November 26, 1983, in the Ogden Temple. They resided in Washington Terrace and
South Ogden. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints where she served in Relief Society, Junior Sunday School and Primary.
She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Conestoga Camp. Wanda
became a certified dental assistant. She also worked at Clifton's Dress Shop.
She could magically transform the simplest gathering into a party and said
"Life is beautiful when you have a family." The family expresses special
thanks to Dr. Richard Herold, Mountain Ridge Assisted Living, Vista Care, and
the Skyline LDS Branch. Surviving are her husband, Eugene, South Ogden; her
children and their spouses, Raelene B. (William J.) Critchlow, Kaysville;
Maxine (Bill) Candland, Lindon, UT; Carolyn (Dennis) Craynor, Centerville;
Diana (Richard) Seager, Plain City; and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Leavitt
Sommers, Provo. She was adored by 19 grandchildren, 68 great-grand-children
and two great-great-grand-children. She was preceded in death by her parents,
her first husband, her son Larry Sommers, three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Thurs. at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary,
3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary on Wed. from 6-8 p.m.
and Thursday 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the

Green, Ronald William
Ronald W. Green 1933 ~ 2004 "In Loving Memory"  Ron passed away peacefully
November 8, 2004. He was born March 18, 1933 in Salt Lake City to Elmer and
Wilma Granger Green. Ron attended East High School and graduated from the
University of Utah. He served in the U.S. Air Force with the Photo
Intelligence stationed in Germany. He was a retired Captain in the Air Force
Reserve. Married Carolyn Neff in 1953 - later divorced. They had two children
- Cynthia and Bill. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. Ron married Elise Mortensen in 1972 in the Salt Lake
Temple. Worked 15 years at Surety Life Insurance Company at numerous positions
including Administrative Vice President and at Nesco Employment for 23 years
as Assistant Manager. Ron loved the simple things of life - being outdoors,
gardening, fishing and was an accomplished golfer. One of his greatest
enjoyments was doing volunteer work with his wife Elise in sponsoring many
families from South East Asia, especially the Vietnamese from 1980-1996. Ron
was a kind, gentle and loving man who loved life and people. We will miss this
dear soul and his good influence. Survived by his wife, Elise; daughter Cyndy
Klein, son Bill; grandson Jonathen, wife Nicole; great grandson Nicholas and
many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thurs., Nov.
18, 2004 at 12:00 p.m. at the Monument Park 1st Ward, 1005 S. 2000 E., Salt
Lake City. There will be no viewing at the chapel or the mortuary. Interment
at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1342 E. 500 S., Salt Lake City.

Portia Hanson Jensen "Our Mother"    BOUNTIFUL/FILLMORE- Our sweet, loving
mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, Portia Hanson
Jensen, age 94, returned home to her Heavenly Father and loving husband Nov.
14, 2004 in Bountiful, Utah.   Born October 14, 1910 in Fillmore, Utah,
daughter of Henry Martin and Loa Black Hanson. She married Winfred Charles
Jensen, April 24, 1929, in Fillmore, Utah, later solemnized in the Manti
Temple on January 13, 1959. Portia loved to do handwork and her family
received many of these wonderful works of art. She was a member of The Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served many years in the Primary,
Young Women's and the Relief Society.  Portia will be remembered for her many
acts of kindness, her sweet and gentle spirit, and the love she had for her
family. She is survived by her children, daughter-in-law Louise Jensen, Fred
and Myrna Jensen, Merlene and Alex Brezak, LaVon and Eddie Whatcott, Linda
Michaels-Hughes; nine grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 18 great, great
grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, James and
Ray; her parents; three brothers, Merlin, Warren and Martin Hanson.  Funeral
services will be Thursday, November 18, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. in the Bountiful
15th Ward, 1250 South Main, Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will be Wednesday from
6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Thursday,
one hour prior to services. Graveside services will be November 18 at 3:30
p.m. at the Fillmore City Cemetery.

Jones, Paul Wyatt
Paul Wyatt Jones 1923 ~ 2004  WEST JORDAN - Paul Wyatt Jones, age 81, passed
away peacefully at home on November 14, 2004.  He was born Feb 4, 1923 in Salt
Lake City, Utah to John Morse and Hazel Wyatt Leavitt Jones. He grew up on the
family farm in West Jordan and graduated from Jordan High. He was a World War
II Veteran, serving his country in the US Army. After being honorably
discharged he started a house moving business with his brothers and later he
founded Jones Excavating Company. He married Laurel Jean Webb on July 3, 1948;
solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they had seven children.
Laurel passed away after 49 years of marriage. Paul later married Diana Marian
Hess, adding her three children to the family. He served in many church
callings and was loved by all those who knew him. He was always happy and
pleasant and whistled while he worked. Always a hard worker, he enjoyed
serving others. Survived by his loving wife, Diana; seven children, Bruce
(Karren), Shannon Telford (Michael), Robert (Shalair), Michael (Debra), Naomi
Larson (Timothy), Lyndon (Stacy), Bradley; three stepchildren, Marilyn Clifton
(Michael), Carrie Leeflang, Cynthia Hewett (Michael); 51 grandchildren; 27
great-grandchildren; sister, Idona Christensen, West Jordan; brother, Victor
Jones, Murray. Preceded in death by his wife, Laurel Jean Webb; parents;
brothers, John, Ricy, Franklin; sisters, Hazel McAllister and Margaret
Kerkman. Services will be held Thursday, Nov 18, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at the
LDS Ward on 7115 S. 3200 W., West Jordan. Friends may call Wed. evening at
Goff Mortuary 8090 So. State from 6-8 p.m. or Thursday at the church from
9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the West Jordan City Cemetery, 7800 S.
1300 W.  We would like to thank all those at Vista Care Hospice Service for
the loving care they have given. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to
the LDS Perpetual Education Fund.

Kehl, Sally Ann
Sally Ann Kehl 1940 ~ 2004  Sally Ann Kehl came into this world on October 2,
1940, the daughter of William Grant and Pauline Bess. She returned to our
Heavenly Father on November 15, 2004. Sally is the mother of four wonderful
children: Stephen, Jeff, Adriann and Jared. Sally has a wonderful ability to
sacrifice and love those in her life. She is an example of awesome courage,
strength and ability to endure the obstacles of life when others said she
couldn't. She is a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints. She looks forward to the blessings of Eternal Life with her Father in
Heaven. Stephen, I was so proud of you as you sang "I will be the Lord's
missionary" and you faithfully served the Lord as that missionary. Thank you
son for the Priesthood blessings that were given with your love and the love
of Jesus Christ. Thanks for the roses on each of your birthdays and to your
wife Deana and your four beautiful children. Grandma Sally loves you. Jeff,
the Lord said to learn in your youth. You learned early to be strong and take
care of yourself; my silent man of many talents! Thanks for helping to build
my new home. I love you and I am so proud of you son. Adriann, my only
daughter, your parents were made better because you loved the Lord. Sister,
you are the glue that holds our family together. I love you and know you'll
keep the family loving and caring for one another. Jared, we are the warriors
saved for the Latter-days. You are my custom man. We made it together son. You
are the source of strength, pride and courage. You are the designer of my new
home-the contractor, supervisor and with your brother, the finisher. Thanks
for the surprise visits to the beauty salon along with the other surprises of
love. Troy and Tod, thanks for all your help, talents and letting me be your
"friend". Continue to love and help your father. To my brothers Tom and Bill a
special thanks and love. Bill and Lona, thanks for coming every week to help
and care for me and especially for mother. Thanks for the many Sunday dinners.
To my friend Karen Geis, the one with the kind and quiet heart, thanks for the
acts of love for Ed and me. Know that I love you. To my husband, the doves are
back my love. I will deliver the messages to those who wait to greet me Ed. We
know God's plan and we will prepare. As for me, it is good to be near our

Maher, Elliott John
Elliott John Maher 1982 ~ 2004  Elliott John Maher , age 22, passed away Nov.
13, 2004, in Sandy, Utah. He was born October 8, 1982 in Salt Lake City to
Tamara Carey Maher and Judson M. Maher. He graduated from Olympus High School
in 2001 and last attended the University of Montana. Elliott was a passionate,
beautiful young man who shared his extraordinary gifts and love with everyone.
His sensitivity and intelligence went well beyond his years. His greatest joy
was found spending time in nature, fly fishing, rock climbing, skiing,
snowboarding, and scuba diving. Elliott was deeply touched by art, literature,
and especially music. He was an accomplished musician and emerging composer.
Elliott will always be remembered for his desire to care for those in need.
Elliott loved his parents, his sisters and his black lab Halle with whom he
worked in his duties as a member of The American Search and Rescue Dogs.
Elliott, we love you so much. You will inspire us forever. Elliott is survived
by parents, Judd and Tamara Maher; sisters, Lauren Maher Stout (Matthew) and
Erin Maher; grandmother, Arline Maher Lozier; and his loving aunts, uncles and
cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Allie; grandparents, George
and Winifred Carey; grandfathers, John J. Maher and Richard W. Lozier. Funeral
services will be held Wed-nesday, November 17, 12 noon at Wasatch Lawn
Mortuary, 3401 High-land Drive. Friends and family may gather Tuesday evening
at Wasatch Lawn from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services Wednesday.

Marcelis, Rika Ruth
Rika Ruth Marcelis Beloved Wife, Mother, Oma  Rika Ruth Marcelis, passed away
November 14, 2004 at her home in peace and comfort at the age of 71. Ruth was
born September 12, 1933 in Amsterdam, Netherlands to Petrus Jacobus DeWinter
and Marie Justine Zewe DeWinter. She married Gerard Marcelis, October 25,
1949, and was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She is survived by her
husband of 55 years Gerard Marcelis, sons Jerry (Kathy), Peter (Jody), and
daughter Marie; grandchildren Collette, Ginny, Kris, Cheri, Sierra and Jacob;
and 15 great-grandchildren.  Ruth loved life, cooking, being outdoors, music,
and especially knitting. She was loved by many people and will be greatly
missed. The family would like to thank the Harmony Hospice Caregivers for
their loving and tender care. Funeral services will be held Wed., November 17,
2004, at 12 Noon in the 20th Ward, 2nd Avenue and 'G' Street, where friends
may call one hour prior to the services. A viewing will be held Tues. evening,

Mortensen, Dale Richard
Dale Richard Mortensen 1941 ~ 2004 Our beloved husband, father, and friend
passed away Friday, November 12, 2004. Survived by his wife, Nancy; and
children, Annette Rodarte (Jeff); Travis and Troy Mortensen; sisters, Sharon
Gilbert (Jack), Janet Collings; brothers, Jerry (Donna), Dean (Bonnie), and
Lee (Debby); grandchildren, Tyson Mortensen, Shaniya Mortensen, and Justin
Kennedy. Preceded in death by his parents, Orrin and Martha Mortensen. Dale
was an employee of Union Pacific Railroad. His favorite pastime was walking
the Avenues and Memory Grove with his best friend and partner, Nancy, and
their two dogs. Dale had many friends and will be greatly missed and lovingly
remembered by all who knew him. A private celebration of Dale's life will be

Anh Thi Nguyen "ba Ngoai ba Noi"  Anh Thi Nguyen, 69 of West Jordan, died
November 13, 2004. She was born October 5, 1935 in Xiha-Trang, Vietnam to Can
Van Nguyen and Lai Thi Nguyen. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She
was a devout member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. She is survived by her
seven children and their spouses, Bich (Khoa), Truong (Carla), Tri (Hoa),
Thanh (Lieu), Tom (Tina), Thoa (Danny), and Thuy (Scott), and 22
grandchildren. A funeral mass will be celebrated Sat. at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady
of Perpetual Help, 5415 S. 4360 W. A vigil service will be held Friday at 7:00
p.m. also at the church, where friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Committal: Mt.

Olson, Loyal Farnum
Loyal Farnum Olson 1926 ~ 2004  Loyal Farnum Olson passed away peacefully on
November 13, 2004.  He was born Nov. 27, 1926, the son of Loyal J. and Clara
B. Olson. At his request, his body is to be cremated. True to his nature, he
was adamant that no services be held. His hope was that those he left behind
think of him with a smile and celebrate his life, and not mourn his death. He
will be dearly missed, but he leaves us all with many wonderful memories.

Richards, Cathleen Whitlock
Cathleen Whitlock Richards 5/11/45 ~ 11/14/04  Our beloved mother and
grandmother, Cathleen Whitlock Richards, age 59, passed quietly away Nov. 14,
2004, surrounded by her family, as a result of complications following
surgery. Cathy was born May 11, 1945 to Royal Carl Whitlock and Geraldine
Rosenvall Whitlock in Bennettsville, South Carolina and raised in Gunnison,
Utah. She married Dr. Paul Burton Richards on Jan. 28, 1967 in the Manti
Temple and together they were the parents of one daughter and five sons. Cathy
was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She
devoted many years to tutoring and teaching disabled children. Cathy loved
reading and was well versed. She always took time out from whatever she was
doing to listen to and counsel her children and grandchildren. She will be
greatly missed. She is survived by her five sons: Robert (Stephanie) of
American Fork, Mark (Emily) of Draper, Bryan (Rachel) of Sandy, Stephen
(Denise) of Riverton, and Michael of Draper; ten grandchildren: Brittney,
Shey, Kinsey, Gabrielle, Joshua, Abbey, Benjamin, Dax, Paul, and Nicholas;
mother: Geraldine (Robert Larson) of Gunnison; and brother: Carl of Gunnison.
Preceded in death by her father, Royal, and her daughter, Teresa. Funeral
services will be held Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Corner Canyon
5th Ward, 13006 S Boulter St (1480 E.), Draper. Friends and family may call on
Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S.,
Sandy, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Salter, Carol May Reynolds
Carol May Reynolds Salter 1934 ~ 2004  Carol May Reynolds Salter, 70, passed
away Saturday, November 13, 2004, in Bountiful, Utah.  She was born May 17,
1934 to Reed and Ileen Rebecca Neilsen Reynolds in Widtsoe, Utah. She grew up
in Benjamin and graduated from Spanish Fork High School.  She worked as a
bookkeeper at Kimball Electronic's for 25 years before she retired. She loved
dancing and traveling and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints and served as a Librarian in the church. She is survived
by her three children, son Brian (Puyong) Ashby, son Kent (Cindy) Ashby and
daughter, DeAnn (Brent) Riggs, a sister, Faye R. (Richard) Moore, brother's,
Jerry (Lynette) Reynolds, Lindon (Joy) Reynolds, and Boyd (Janet) Reynolds.
Carol has 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by her parents. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004
at 11 a.m. in the Benjamin Ward. Family and friends may call at the church
prior to the services at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment in the
Benjamin City Cemetery.

Smith, Dorothy Louise Riley
Dorothy Louise Riley Smith 1927 ~ 2004  Dorothy Louise Riley Smith, 77, died
on Nov. 12, 2004 in Dade City, FL.  Born July, 14, 1927 in Marianna, FL to
David Alton Riley and Fleda Emily Yon. Married to Charles R. Smith on August
24, 1952 and later divorced. Became a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints on July 27, 1980. Served a mission to the Church
Genealogical Library, Salt Lake City, UT in 1989. Married DeMar E. Brower on
July 27, 1994 in Salt Lake City. Marriage never sealed, later divorced. Her
family moved to Tampa when she was five years old. She lived in and around
Tampa until she left on her mission for the church. She graduated with the
class of '45 from Hillsborough High School. Began work the next day at
Peninsular Telephone Co. (later GTE, at present Verizon). Her tour of duty was
35 years, retiring in 1985. After retirement she worked as a medical assistant
at Moffit Hospital, Radiology Clerk at St. Joseph's Hospital and office
manager for a couple of doctors. After completion of her mission to the
church, she returned to Salt Lake City to work for the LDS church at church
distribution, retiring again in 1994. She is survived by her two ex-husbands
and four wonderful children, whom she loved very much: Charles R. Smith, II
(Roblyn) of Pasadena, FL; John D. Smith (Julie) of San Antonio, FL; Brian P.
Smith (Debbie) of Auburndale, FL and Deborah (Smith) Sprague (Bob) of Tampa;
six wonderful grandchildren, Megan Wells-Smith, Bobby Sprague, Heather Smith
Strickland, Jeremy Smith, Justin and Riley Smith; two nephews, David Riley and
Richard Riley of Sarasota; one niece, Cindy Teal of Asheville, NC. Preceded in
death by her father, mother and brother. Casket bearers will be her sons and
grandsons. Services will be held at 12 noon, Nov. 17, 2004 in the West
Fletcher Avenue Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The
family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Interment will
follow in the Myrtle Hill Memorial Park.

Stokes, Eleda Vee Smith
Eleda Vee Smith Stokes 1926 ~ 2004  TREMONTON - Eleda Vee Smith Stokes, 78, of
Bothwell, Utah, died peacefully, Nov. 13, 2004 at the Bear River Valley
Hospital. She was born April 29, 1926, in Tremonton, Utah the daughter of John
Cameron and Polly Fredrickson Smith. She married Deloris Leo Stokes Sept. 10,
1943 in the Logan Temple. She had three sisters and two brothers. She loved
her family, her God, and her church. She served in all of the auxiliaries of
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, especially treasuring the 17
years that she served as chorister of the Junior Sunday School. She was a
member of the Bothwell Ward for most of her life where she served as president
of the Relief Society and Primary. She was Stake Young Women's president and
also served as Assistant Matron and Ordinance Worker in the Logan Temple. She
faithfully supported her husband while he served as Bishop of the Bothwell
Ward, councilor in the South Bear River Stake, and President of the North
Carolina Raleigh Mission. Together, Deloris and Eleda Vee served as Directors
of the Oakland Temple Visitors Center. She loved writing tributes, poetry,
music, drama, speaking in church, painting, 4-H, visiting the residents of the
Bear River Valley Care Center where she was a member of the Sing-A-Long Gang
and bringing cheer as "Mrs. Santa". She was known by her grandchildren as
Grandma Dee Dee. She had the reputation among her children, grandchildren, and
missionaries of being a great cook, famous for her legendary Dee Dee rolls,
Thanksgiving turkey and dressing. She prepared over 16,380 rolls for the
missionaries of the North Carolina Raleigh Mission. Like her mother, she
enjoyed flowers and gardening. She is survived by Deloris Leo Stokes, her
cherished husband of 61 years. She is also survived by three daughters, Paula
Vee (Don) Kerr, Woodland; Cameron (Stanley) Palmer, Providence; Gaye (Scott)
Wheatley, Oakton, VA; her three sons Dell Stokes, Vallejo, CA; Reed Stokes,
Bothwell; Spencer (Mary) Stokes, Ogden; 15 grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; two sisters Frances Jones, and Karen Stokes; and brother
Joe Dee Smith. She was preceded in death by sister, Polly, and brother,
Junior. She was lovingly cared for by her sister Karen, as well as friend and
hairdresser Teri Holmgren, who perfected her signature "classic twist". We
thank them. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 18, 2004 at 11:00
a.m. at the Bothwell LDS Ward Chapel located at 10350 W. 11600 N., with Bishop
Mack Esplin officiating. Friends and family may visit Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004
from 6-8 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home located at 111 N. 100 E.,
Tremonton and Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the

Szesny, Robert John (Bob)
Robert John (Bob) Szesny 1934 ~ 2004  Bob left us on November 10, 2004 at the
age of 70. He was born in Chicago, IL. on March 2, 1934. He attended Culver
Military School then graduated from Northwestern University with a teaching
degree. He finally settled with his family in the Salt Lake Valley where he
worked at one time for Salt Lake Hardware, and met his darling "Peaches". They
were married and completed each others lives on October 16, 1981. They loved
being together whether at work or play. Throughout his lifetime, he was a
sporting goods buyer, and the most avid Cubbies fan, and was still waiting for
them to win the Series that he was sure they would do! He enjoyed quiet times,
reading, fishing, and being with his "honey", and kept busy through years of
retirement with his wife's business in real estate. Bob was a dedicated and
loving father, always ready to stop everything and play with his girls when
they were little, or to help and support them as they became women. After a
brave fight with cancer, and surrounded by family and friends, the light went
out of his eyes, but will never be out of our hearts. Thank you Dad, for your
love, companionship, and our endless laughter at your "sick" sense of humor!
Bob will be ever adored and missed by his wife and love of his life, Suzie
(Sue); children, Anne (Lenard), Linda, Kim (Ken), Suzanne (Ed), Barbara;
stepdaughters, Suzanne, Angel (Aaron); 20 grandchildren, 10
great-grandchildren, and his beloved cats, Minnie and IB. A wake and
celebration of Bob's life will be held on Fri., Nov. 19 from 6:30-8:30 in the
evening; Willow Creek 5th Ward, 2400 Alta Canyon Drive in Sandy. Family and

Tincher, MaKayla Lucy Katherine
MaKayla Lucy Katherine Tincher 11/11/04 ~ 11/14/04  An angel came into the
world too perfect to stay. In the short time she was here, she touched many
hearts. She passed away in the loving arms of her parents, and now has been
passed forth into the loving arms of her grandparents, Lucy Katherine and
Robert Tincher and great-grandparents, Adell and Robert Palmer and James Wood,
who will take care of her until we meet again. She is survived by her parents,
Raquelle and Jim Tincher and sister, Sadi. Graveside services will be held
Wednesday, November 17th, 2:00 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Cemetery, 6500 S.
Redwood Rd. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. In lieu of

Titus, Jean Stenberg
Jean Stenberg Titus 1938 ~ 2004   Our precious Mom, Grams, Neen, Sister,
Jeannie, and dear friend, Jean Titus, passed away from cancer Sunday, November
14, 2004 in Riverton, Utah, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
Jean was born in Mink Creek, Idaho on Feb. 19, 1938 to Guy and Ora Stenberg.
She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents Oscar and Hedvig
Nelson, and sister Ora May. She is survived by her sister Tyra and brother
Michael (Julie). Her contagious laughter, unconditional love, and compassion
live on through her son, Richard and his wife Gina, and her daughters Sherry
and Annette. Her grandkids, Kelly, Weston, Ryan, Jessica, Brendan, Ethan, and
nephew Cole, brought hours of joy to her heart. Jean retired from the GSA
printing plant in 1995. She loved working in the church library and enjoyed
giving away homemade gifts. She was delighted to go through the temple and
volunteered generously in many  activities. She was happiest watching the Jazz
games, spending time with grandkids and picking up shells on the beach. Her
smile was radiant and her courage unwavering. Everyone loved her quick wit and
funny stories. She always had a handful of California chocolate covered
raisins or pumpkin cookies to share. Jean was one of a kind. We celebrate her
life and invite you to the funeral services to be held Friday, Nov. 19, 2004
at 11 a.m. at the Clearfield 9th Chapel, 838 E. 600 So. Friends and family may
call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield

Volker, Henry Wright
Henry Wright Volker 1914 ~ 2004  Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and
great-grandfather passed away quietly in his sleep at home November 12, 2004,
one week before his 90th birthday.Wright was born November 19, 1914 in Ogden,
Utah to John Henry Frederick Volker and Florence "Fawn" Wright Volker. He
married the love of his life, Mary Barbara Free, April 2, 1947. Wright will be
missed and his legacy will live on through Barbara; their four children, Mary
Kathleen Burningham (Rex), Richard Free Volker (Sue), Barbara Jill McGee
(Gary), and Charles Henry "Hank" Volker; their grandchildren, James Rex
Burningham, Michael David Burningham, Gary Robert McGee (Amy), Laurie
Christine Shea (Andy), and Steven Kelly McGee; and two great-grandchildren.
Wright's beautiful life is highlighted by many outstanding accomplishments. He
graduated from the University of Utah in 1937 (BS degree). Following his
graduation from college, he moved to Washington D.C. where he began working
for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Shortly after his move to Washington
D.C., Wright was accepted for admission to law school at George Washington
School of Law. While in law school, Wright continued his work as a
communications officer with the FBI. He graduated from law school in 1943 with
his Juris Doctor of Laws degree. At that time he was accepted by the FBI as an
agent. During his three years at George Washington, Wright was acknowledged by
students and faculty for his contributions and development of social programs.
In 1943 Wright enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. At this time, he resigned
from the FBI where his service was repeatedly recognized for excellence. Upon
his departure from the FBI, Wright received a personal award from the Director
of the FBI, J. Edgar Hoover. Wright enlisted in the Marines as an infantry
officer and eventually attained the rank of Captain. Wright was assigned to
the Philippine Islands where he worked with the JAG Core and investigated and
tried war crimes. Wright again distinguished himself with his service to his
country. Wright returned to Salt Lake City in 1946 when he began his legal
career. During this time, he was appointed to an executive position with the
Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce and traveled throughout the state of Utah.
In the early 1960's Wright joined the legal staff at the Utah State Attorney
General's office as a Deputy Attorney General. He continued his work at the
Attorney General's Office until he retired in 1985. Wright's 30+ year legal
career with the Attorney General's Office spanned six different Attorney
General Administrations. He was appointed to chair numerous government
committees and served as chief legal counsel to several different State
agencies. He twice served as Welfare Commissioner and was twice elected and
twice served as president of the Salt Lake County Bar Association. He also
serves as executive counsel to the Governor of Utah under two different
administrations. Despite Wrights's successes in his chosen field, his
stability, dignity, selflessness, humility and humor gave others absolute
pleasure and security when they were with him. We love him. Funeral services
will be held Wed-nesday, November 17, 2004, 12 noon, at Larkin Mortuary, 260
E. So. Temple where friends may call Tuesday 5-7 p.m. and one hour prior to
the service. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Webster, Georgia May
Georgia May Webster "Will be missed"  Georgia May Platt Webster passed away
Sunday November 14, 2004.  She was born June 5, 1927 in Macomb, IL to Roy and
Elsie Harland Platt. She married Alonzo "Bud" Webster, January 27, 1945 in
Davenport, Iowa. Georgia's life was devoted to cooking and caring for others.
Even though she was blind, she could still make the best pie in the west. She
loved gardening, canning and sharing recipes with neighbors and friends. She
endured many years of Diabetic complications and struggles with Addison
disease. You never knew how much pain she was in because she was so strong and
had a strong will to live. She will live on in all of us. She is survived by
her daughter Cheryl A. (Russell) Smith, Salt Lake City, UT; sons: Gerald R.
(Pauline) Webster, West Chester, PA; Donald E. (Stacey) Webster, Savannah, IL;
three grandsons, three granddaughters and three great-grandsons. Friends and

Welch, Thomas C.
Thomas C. Welch 1935 ~2004  Thomas Charles Welch, age 69, passed away November
13, 2004, in Sandy Utah. He was the son of Dorothy Armstrong Welch and Thomas
Baird Welch. He was born April 26, 1935 in Midvale, Utah, and he married
Barbara Beard September 25, 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had five
beautiful children, Mark, Shelly, Stephen, Kurt, and Shannon, later divorced.
Married Bird Carol Norval in Las Vegas Nevada, later divorced. Tom owned,
operated and worked in many marketing and management positions. He was
president of Las Vegas Water Ski Club. He loved the outdoors, boating, water
skiing, fishing, archery and building model airplanes and dung buggy riding.
Tom is survived by his mother Dorothy Armstrong Welch, brother David Douglas
Welch (Sonja), sister Rose Lee Welch Raddon; sons, Mark Charles Holmquist
(Laura), Stephen Beard Welch (Stacy), Thomas Kurt Welch (Becky); daughters
Michelle Wharton (Blaze) and Shannon Thompson (Ed); eight grandchildren, two
great-great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death
by his father Thomas Baird Welch. He was lovingly cared for by his family and
we would like to thank Lifepath Hospice for their kind care. Memorial services
will be at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, November 18, 2004 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary,
3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah.
