Anderson, Gary Kent
Gary Kent Anderson (Pumpas) 11/14/34 ~ 04/08/05 Our beloved husband, father,
grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Gary, returned peacefully to his
Heavenly Father joining his father, mother, and brother. He leaves behind his
loving family, wife, Emma; seven daughters; three sons; 36 grandkids; 40
great-grandkids; three sisters and three brothers, who all love him and will
miss him dearly. Graveside services will be held Monday, April 11th, 11:30
a.m. at Redwood Memorial Cemetery, 6500 S. Redwood Rd. A viewing will be held
Sunday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at Redwood
Memorial Mortuary.

Anderson, Nathan Lee
Nathan Lee Anderson Son of Michelle Francis Nathan was born on September 7,
1976 and left us far too soon. He grew up with a passion for skateboarding and
collecting baseball cards. He had such a good heart and kind nature, but could
never find his purpose in life. He was our little boy, Lost. His family held
his heart, but drugs stole his soul. He fought a brave and strong battle, but
in the end could not overcome. His family will always love him, be proud of
him, and will always cherish his memory. "Nathan, you will always be my little
man. I know in my heart that it has always been me and you against the world.
You were my cherished first born and I will forever love you." Love, Mom.
Nathan is survived by his mother, Michelle Francis, and the most cherished
person in his life, his sister, Victoria Brown, her fianc  Adam Lopez, and his
unborn niece Nina Isabella Lopez. Also survived by his stepfather Mark
Francis, his stepbrother Mark Francis Jr.; his grandparents Sonny and Mary Lee
Spainhower, and Dick and Jackie Brown; uncles and aunts John and Jackie Davis,
and Jef and Connie Davis; his loving cousins Ashley Davis, Austin and Lindsey
Davis, Amelia Davis, Cynthia Davis, and Sarah and Jim Gonsur. Preceded in
death by the only father he ever knew, Larry Ray Brown. Funeral services will
be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at 12:00 noon at Neil O'Donnell and Sons
Mortuary, 372 East 100 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends may call between
11:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon to pay their respects. Graveside Service will follow
at Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Avenue and N Street. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made in Nathan's name to the Utah AIDS Foundation, 1408 South

Atwood, Anna Dean Alldredge
Anna Alldredge Atwood "Little Gramma" Anna Dean Alldredge Atwood passed away
Friday, April 8, 2005 at the age of 70 from complications of a stroke. She was
born June 23, 1934 to Marion and Ola Dalley Alldredge. She married William
Iliff Atwood on November 4, 1957; their marriage was later solemnized in the
Provo Temple. Anna's arrival into this world was rough. Despite her struggles
in life she managed to raise five children with a warm heart and loving hands.
She was a faithful member of the LDS church. She was deeply loved and will be
strongly missed. Survived by four of her five children, MaryAnn Brown, Terry
Atwood, Trudy Bryant, and Leola (Danny) Kilpatrick; sister, Marie Bolton; 15
grandchildren; and 6 3/4 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband,
William; daughter, Vickie; parents; one sister; and three brothers. Special
thanks to Warren who cared for her in ICU and Travis who was there for her in
the final moments of her life. Funeral services will be held 12 p.m.
Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at the Magna Stake Center, 3084 South 8400 West,
where friends may call Wednesday from 10:30 - 11:45 a.m. Interment: Salt Lake

Bacigalupo, Barry
Barry Bacigalupo 1930 ~ 2005 Barry Bacigalupo, 74, died serenely at his home
in Salt Lake City, Utah, with family and loved ones by his side on Friday,
April 2, 2005. Barry was an only child; he was born September 03, 1930 in
Accrington, Lancashire, England to Leo Bacigalupo and Alice Mary Wood. Barry
attended art school in Accrington; he was a very talented artist and sculptor.
In 1948, Barry and his parents emigrated from Southhampton England to Halifax,
Canada on the ship Acquitania. They worked on a large farm in Ontario for two
years as a part of their immigration agreement and eventually settled in
British Columbia. In 1951, Barry married Jeanne E. Northgraves of Chilliwack,
B.C., Canada; they had three children: Craig, Valerie and Brian. Barry worked
as a salesman and continued his art studies. In the Fall of 1963, the family
immigrated to S.L.C., Utah. Later divorced. Barry wed Alice Smokoff, who was
also born in Lancashire, England. Barry and Alice lived in Sacramento where he
worked for Subaru as the Regional Sales Manager. Barry and Alice later owned
and operated BMW Marine on the Oakland Embarcadero. They spent much time
sailing on San Francisco Bay. Barry loved to go deep-sea fishing at every
opportunity. They returned to live in S.L.C. in 2000 where he continued to
work as a contractor designing and building bunkhouses on National Wildlife
Refuges. Barry was a car enthusiast; he loved Formula 1 racing, basketball and
football. Survived by his loving wife Alice; children Craig (Anita)
Bacigalupo, SLC; Valerie (Byron) Engh, San Diego, CA; Brian (Beth) Bacigalupo,
SLC; grandchildren Andrea (Scott) Peterson, David, Robert, James, SLC; Erin,
Katherine, Ryan, Erik, San Diego; Brayden, SLC; great-grandson Matthew L.
Vincent Engh, San Diego; step children Thomas Smokoff, LeeAnn Smokoff, Pete
Smokoff, all of S.L.C. A memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday,
April 16th at Calvary Baptist Church, 1090 S. State. In lieu of flowers, the
family has requested that donations be made to The Road Home. The family would
like to thank Dr. Keith Lane and Life Path Hospice for the loving care they
provided to Barry and his family.

Boren, Lonnie L.
Lonnie L. Boren 1917 ~ 2005 CENTERVILLE - Lonnie L. Boren, 87, passed away
Friday, April 8, 2005. He was born June 9, 1917 in Whiterocks, Utah to Alma
LeRoy Boren and Thelma Potter Boren. He was married to Vera May Peterson
August 14, 1939 in Manila, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the
Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 66 years. They lived in Centerville
for the past 33 years of their life. Dad worked for the Union Pacific Railroad
for 43 years. He loved fishing, hunting, and camping with his family. He was a
member of the LDS church and served in numerous positions. He is survived by
his wife, Vera; and their sons, Kenneth (Judy), Dean (Terry), Jerry
(Margaret); 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Esther (Don)
Larsen; brother, Farren Boren, and Carol. He was preceded in death by his
parents; one brother, Argie; and two sons, Lonnie and Larry. Funeral services
will be held Wed-nesday, April 13, 2005, 11 a.m. at the Centerville 9th Ward
building, 1475 North 50 East Centerville, Utah. Friends and family may call

Ayden Jaxon Bosh (Dalby) Our Baby Boy Our precious angel came into this world
briefly April 5, 2005 to Camille Dalby and Duston Bosh, surrounded by many
loving family members, friends and his anxiously awaiting sister Jayce. A bit

Bradshaw, Norma S.
Norma S. Bradshaw 1931 ~ 2005 Norma Staples Bradshaw, beloved wife, mother,
grandmother, and great-grandmother, returned home to her Heavenly Father
Thursday April 7, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah from complications following
back surgery. She was born January 27, 1931 in Tooele, Utah to Marion and Ida
McLaws Staples. She married Darrell Lloyd Bradshaw December 8, 1948. Their
marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple January 6, 1972. She is
survived by her husband of 56 years, Darrell of Tooele, Utah, daughters:
Sheryl (Mel) Lawrence, Tooele; Darlene (Richard) Anderson, Grantsville; Joanne
(Robert) Booth, Tooele; and son D. Wade Bradshaw, Tooele, 12 grandchildren,
eight great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren; brother Harold
Staples, Fruit Heights, Utah; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by
her parents, brother, Earl Staples, and sister, Geraldine Kirk. Funeral
services will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Tooele
7th LDS Ward, 1025 West Utah Ave. Friends may call at Tate Mortuary, 110 So
Main St., Tooele on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday 11:30-12:30 prior to

Afton A. Brown 4/10/13 ~ 1/8/95 A tribute to a very special lady, our beloved
mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. With courage and faith
tenderness and love, she met the hardships of early day life. Always
envisioning for her children a future bright with hope and success, she was a
daily example of her belief; that work shapes a day, days shape a life, and
character is the essence of all one's days. This was our mother, making
priceless contributions for our future. She was beautiful woman in physique
and character, and loved by all who ever knew her. She lived her life by being
an example. She was truly our role model in the schoolhouse of life.

Brydson, Richard "Dick"
Richard "Dick" Brydson 1935 ~ 2005 Richard O. Brydson age 69, passed away
April 8, 2005 after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Born October
14, 1935 in Salt Lake City to Frank B. and Myrtle Sleater Brydson. After
graduating from West High School in 1953 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Married
Norma Hamilton in 1958, later divorced. He then married Judy Booth Cannon
March 25, 1985. Dick was a long time secretary of several bowling leagues. He
was an avid golfer and loved softball. He and his wife Judy enjoyed many trips
to Nevada to golf and gamble. Survived by his wife Judy, children: Curtis
(Jenny) Brydson, Casey (Jena) Brydson; step-children: Chris (Joe) Godfrey,
Todd Jardine, Sean (Terri) Jardine; brothers: Bob (Caroline) Brydson, John
(Deann) Scott, Gene Scott, Steve (Jenny) Scott, sister Diane (Stan) Staten,
and 13 grandchildren. Preceded in death by his son Cary Brydson and brother
Joe Brydson. We will miss Dick's sense of humor, sunny outlook on life, and
contagious smile. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2005, 2
p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple where friends may call Monday 6-8

Burton, Stanley "Chet"
Stanley "Chet" Burton 1917 ~ 2005 Our loving father and grandfather passed
away peacefully April 8, 2005 from illness incident to age. Born in Salt Lake
City April 21, 1917 to Augusta and Ernest Burton. Married Eileen Daybell on
November 29, 1941. They lived in Salt Lake City all their lives. He was a
member of the LDS Church, and worked in sales until his retirement. Chet was
preceded in death by his loving wife on March 9, 2005; and a grandson Gary B.
Mortensen. He will be greatly missed by children Deanna (Harold) Pastore of
Cedar City; Fred (Marcia) of Sandy; Stan of Sandy; three grandchildren; 11
great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild. He was a fine example of
integrity, hard work and dependability. The last 5 years were a struggle but
he never complained. Viewing to be held on Tuesday, April 12 from 11 a.m. to
12 noon at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 South Highland Drive. Graveside service to be
held at Heber City cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Family wishes to thank Highland Care

Chapman, Reg
Reg Chapman 1917 ~ 2005 Reg Chapman, age 87, peacefully passed away April 5,
2005 of congestive heart failure. Born June 22, 1917 in Salt Lake City to John
Henry and Emily Wilkinson Chapman. Married Barbara Avon Feb 14, 1938 in Salt
Lake City. Reg was a graduate of West High School. Attended the U of U.
Veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. Reg was a born athlete.
Notably playing years in the S. L. Soccer league. He was a national handball
champion. Reg also excelled in bowling, billiards, and was a 6-handicap
golfer. In his youth, Reg was a plumber and became skilled in all facets of
construction. After the War, Reg became a professional salesman until his
retirement. In 1979 Reg drew up plans and constructed his dream Mt. Home.
Survived by two sons: John Neil and Craig Taylor (Carole) Chapman; two
granddaughters: Natalie and Monica. one brother: George. Preceded in death by
his wife Barbara, one daughter: Kathleen Chapman Dabose, one brother: Henry,
and a sister Vera. Reg was an outspoken individual and a good listener. He had
personality and charisma and left a good impression on those he met. His
family and friends will miss him. At his request, there will be no services.

Cooper, Clifford Byron
Clifford Byron Cooper 1921 ~ 2005 FORT WORTH - Clifford Byron Cooper, 84,
passed away Friday, April 8, 2005. Graveside service: (private) in Greenwood
Memorial Park. Clifford was born April 6, 1921, in Blackfoot, Idaho. He
received his master's degree at the University of Utah, where he also earned
many scholarships in sports. He was owner of Woodcliff Originals, where many
unique designs were produced. He built two houses and three boats and half the
furniture in the houses. Clifford was always there to lend a hand when anyone
needed help. He was an avid writer, having written several books including his
life story. He received numerous patents for his designs while working for
General Dynamics. Clifford was preceded in death by a son, Dale Byron Cooper.
Survivors: Wife of 56 years, Elaine Cooper of Fort Worth; children, Brent
Cooper and wife, Donna of Hurst and Claudia Cooper of Salt Lake City, Utah;
grandchildren, Clayton and Holly Cooper; and numerous family members in the

Doyle, Danny John
Danny John Doyle 1951 ~ 2005 Danny John Doyle, 53, returned to his Father in
Heaven April 7, 2005 after fighting a long battle with cancer. He peacefully
slipped away at home with his sweet wife at his side. Dan was born at Hill Air
Force Base in Ogden, Utah on December 28, 1951. He was an employee for CCI
Mechanical for 25 years and a Staff Sargent in the Air National Guard for 11
years. His favorite pastimes included going to drag races, hunting and fishing
with his sons, or just holding his grandson at family gatherings. Dan was a
devoted friend who was always there to listen and lend a helping hand. He is
survived by his loving wife Jennifer Doyle; daughter Dana Mann (Daniel); sons
Nick Doyle (Alisha) and Kelly Doyle (Hollie); his grandson Preston Doyle
(Nick); his mother Ramona Forbush Doyle; father John Doyle (Bonnie); sisters
Kristine Bowden (Cory) and Lisa Lindquist (Randy); brothers Brent Doyle and
Kevin Doyle. Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 11, 2005 at 1:00
p.m., Riverview 3rd Ward, 11400 South 700 West. Friends and family may call
Sunday April 10, from 5-7 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South

Dubois, Margery Eileen Jackson
Margery Eileen Jackson Dubois 1930 ~ 2005 Wednesday morning April 6, 2005 our
family lost its most precious member Marge, who lost her courageous battle
against ALS. She was the ideal balance of a wife, mother, sister and friend.
Marge was born September 4, 1930 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She is survived by her
caregiver/best buddy/husband Paul Dubois, daughter Aimee Dubois-Ricci (John),
sister Betty Simmons, stepchildren Bonny Troost (Robert), Hellen Lagerburg
(Willem), Richard Dubois (Paloma), Bea Materman (Frits) and Paul Dubois II
(Masja). She is preceded in death by her father Axel Jackson, mother Minnie
Jackson, brother Donald Jackson and stepson Andy Dubois. Marge was an
extraordinary person who touched all those she came in contact with. She will
be missed tremendously by all those who knew and loved her, she will live in
our hearts forever. Her family would like to thank John and MariAnn Dubois and
the ALS foundation for their dedication, support and generosity. In lieu of

Dunyon, Sarah Elayne
Sarah Elayne Dunyon 1926 ~ 2005 Sarah Elayne Dunyon passed peacefully from
this earthly existence, surrounded by her family, on April 8, 2005. She was
born July 26, 1926 in Columbia, South Carolina. She married Phillip Dunyon on
August 14, 1948; their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS
Temple in July of 1950. She was a devoted mother who raised 14 children. She
kept her sense of humor through it alls. She enjoyed spending time with her
family. She loved to watch Professional Wrestling, American Idol and
especially enjoyed watching LDS General Conference. Sarah is survived by her
children: Robert (Betty), Denise, Carolyn (Pat), Mike (Dawna) Kent (Kathy),
Ronald (Connie), Marianne (Gary), Roger (Roxanne), Brenda, Kathy (Scott), Troy
(Rebecca), Sharlene (Paul), and Glenn (Tina). Also survived by 35
grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband,
Phillip; son Jay; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family
wishes to thank the staff of Wasatch Rehabilitation Center for the care given
to our mother. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 12th, 1:00 p.m.,
at the Kearns 10th Ward, 5025 West 4865 South. Family and friends may visit

Fish, Edward R.
Edward R. Fish 1944 ~ 2005 Born July 31, 1944 in New York City. Died April 5,
2005. Ed was complicated yet simple and more than anything, he loved me, his
wife. I have lost my heart. Ed had a masters degree in Education and as a
young man he hitch-hiked across Europe. He loved being in the mountains above
Coalville with his dog, Yoshi. Ed is survived by his loving wife, Jean, and
brothers, George and David. Preceded in death by brother, Eugene. He will be
missed by Toni, Jay, Judy and Dennis. Memorial Services will be held by the
family at a later date.

Godina, Clemente
Clemente Godina 1923 ~ 2005 Our beloved father and grandfather passed away
peacefully on April 6, 2005, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 3,
1923 in Tlaltenango, Mexico and married Concepcion Cid on November 23, 1950.
Clemente was an example of courage and dedication to his family. He immigrated
to the United States to provide a better life for them. He taught his children
the importance of laughter, responsibility, family unity and sports. He is
survived by his children, Maria Elena, Fernando (Stevane), Lupe Leydsman
(Kim), Amalia Sussdorff (Stephen), Xavier (Holly) and 13 grandchildren, a
brother Fernando and two sisters, Teresa and Francisca. Preceded in death by
his wife and son Clemente, sister Aurelia and his parents. Funeral mass will
be held Tuesday, April 12 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church,
715 W. 300 N., Salt Lake City. Family and friends may attend a rosary vigil at
the church Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. Interment at Redwood Memorial Estates,
6500 So. Redwood Road. The family would like to thank the staff of Lakeview
Dialysis for their care.

Gunn, Todd Ronald
Todd Ronald Gunn 1965 ~ 2005 Todd Ronald Gunn cast off his earthly bowlines
Saturday, April 2, 2005. He was born in Mountain View, California, February 4,
1965. He lived in California, Oklahoma, Colorado and Texas. He traveled the
world and landed in Austin, Texas. Todd graduated from Oklahoma University in
1988 with a double degree in Engineering/Physics. He also received two Masters
Degrees: Business/Statistics, with partial degree studies in Medicine. Todd
worked as a contractor for NASA's Johnson Space Center for five years. He
worked on many Payloads for the Space Shuttle, including the Hubble Telescope.
His final position was in Austin as Systems Architect at Hewlett Packard. He
was involved with a sailing club, running club and was an active marathoner.
He was a host to friends joining in for music on his guitar and banjo at his
home. He was preceded in death by his brother, Troy William Gunn, his father,
Frank William Gunn, his great-grandparents, Albert and Beatrice Peck,

Hardy, Elden
Elden Hardy 1923 ~ 2005 OGDEN - Elden Hardy, age 81, was welcomed into
Heavenly Father's arms April 8, 2005; surrounded by family members at his
son's home in Willard. He was born in Minersville, Utah to Luther and Eliza
Banks Hardy July 9, 1923. Elden married the love of his life, Margie Guffey,
August 4, 1945 at Woodscross, Utah. Later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple
March 7, 1958. She preceded him in death February 3, 1999. Elden was a truly
courageous man. He cared for his wife, Margie, with her illness of cancer for
14 years and also battled cancer himself for many years. He spent his young
life in Minersville, Utah and Milford, Utah, where he enjoyed many good times
with his five brothers and four sisters. The Hardy family was a very close
family. Basketball and baseball were their favorite games. Fishing and
swimming in Minersville Reservoir was great fun. In the Milford High School
band he played a base horn. He learned to play it with his dad; his dad played
the same horn for many years. After high school he moved to Salt Lake to work
for Mr. Jacobson as a truck driver; then he worked at Garfield Smelder with
his twin brother, Alden. Elden then worked for the Rio Grande Western Railroad
for 34 years. While in Salt Lake he met his wife, Margie, whom he was married
to for 54 years. He was her husband, her partner, her best friend, sweetheart
and soul mate. Later they moved to Ogden where they raised three children. His
greatest love and joy was being with his family. He enjoyed deer hunting and
fishing with his sons. Going to Southern Utah to visit his daughter, brothers,
and sisters. He worked in the scouting program for 20 years as a Cub Master
and District Commissioner. One of his favorite things to do the past several
years was watching the Utah Jazz. He had a great love for the seniors and
enjoyed going there to talk and dine with them at the Washington Terrace
Senior Citizen's Center. His parents preceded him in death; his wife, Margie;
son, Randall; and seven siblings. He is survived by his daughter, JoAnn (Milo)
Erickson; son, Keven (Emma) Hardy; sisters, Utahna Heap, and Maxine Isom.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2005, Washington
Heights Memorial Park. Memorial service will be held one hour prior to the
services at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden. His passing has left a
void in the hearts of everyone he has touched. Elden will be missed, never
forgotten and always loved. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife

Myra Mae Lamphere Harms 1938 ~ 2005 Myra Mae Lamphere Harms, born January 14,
1938 transitioned to a new life on April 8, 2005. She was preceded in death by
her parents, husband Herman, son Jeffery Lynn. Survived by sons, Gregory Allen
Harms and Steven Wade Harms, their wives, six grandchildren, one great
grandchild and sister Ann. An open house will be held in her honor at 4766

Haycock, J. Carlos "Abe"
J. Carlos "Abe" Haycock "Will Be Missed" J. Carlos "Abe" Haycock, 79 passed
away at Dixie Regional Medical Center, April 8, 2005. He was born August 8,
1925 in Circleville, Utah to James Hull and Lois Whittaker Haycock. He married
Shirley Fiack Haycock on September 16, 1951 in Cedar City, Utah. Abe was
raised in Circleville, Utah, graduated from Piute High School, attended BAC
where he earned an Associate Degree. Abe played the cornet in the high school
band and played in a dance band during his years in the Navy during World War
II. Abe worked for the Highway Patrol for over 25 years, and enjoyed the
people he worked with. He also enjoyed driving 18 wheelers and heavy
equipment. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Fiack, children, J. Douglas Haycock of
Cedar City, Utah, Jodie (Dan) Stephenson of Cedar City, Utah, three
grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a son
Robert Scott Haycock, one brother, James "Jim" Haycock, two sisters Bertha
Adams, and Mary Lou Woolstenhulme. Funeral services will be held Tuesday,
April 12, 2005 at 12:00 p.m. at Southern Utah Mortuary. Friends and family may
call Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Southern Utah Mortuary, 190

Holder II, Russell W.
Russell W. Holder II 1950 ~ 2005 BOUNTIFUL - Russell W. Holder II September 7,
1950- Rusty passed away quietly at his home Thursday night April 7, 2005.
Rusty's middle name could have been tease, jokester, comedian, but his first
name was love and loyalty. He loved his girls and me unconditionally. He lived
for us and I believed died for us. No one ever had to wonder how much he cared
for them, because he told them. Rusty served his country and was a veteran of
both the Army and Air Force. Along with his father-in-law Fred Cvar, Rusty
owned and operated Cvar Fuller Paint in Bountiful for over 30 years. Russ made
sure every customer left with what they needed with a smile on their face. He
was an avid reader and sportsman who worshiped his creator in the wonders of
nature. We're proud that he chose to be an organ donor. There will be a
memorial mass for Russ and his family on Monday, April 11, at 11:00 a.m. at St
Olaf's Catholic Church, 276 East 1700 South in Bountiful, Utah. Friends may
visit shortly before or after the services. Russ is survived by his wife,
JoAnn Marie Holder (Cvar) and his two daughters, Jayde Prudden (John) and
Dannielle Holder (partner, Thomas); his mother Pearl (Holder) Ahlstrom
(Manti); his sister Vivian Wiltse (Dave, North Dakota) and a loving extended
family and friends that include many cherished nieces and nephews who would
give anything for one more phone call. Russ is preceded in death by his

Hoskins, Jay L.
Jay L. Hoskins We love you! Our beloved Jay passed away on April 5, 2005. He
was born July 28, 1930 in Salt Lake City, to Floyd and Mary Hoskins. He
married Emma Johnson; later divorced. He devoted his entire career working for
Salt Lake County and the State of Utah as a heavy equipment operator. It was
Jay and his co-workers that kept the canyons clear for the skiers during the
winter months. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and trips to Wendover, but most of
all, Jay enjoyed his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his
children, Catherine Anderson, Calvin (Netta) Bertelsen, Kim Joy Hoskins; eight
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and his brother, Thomas (Cathy)
Hoskins. Preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life, Emma Hoskins;
two brothers, Ed and Russell Hoskins; and son, Michael. Graveside services
will be held Monday, April 11th, 11:00 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Cemetery, 6500
S. Redwood Rd. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services in
the mortuary. A special thanks to Rocky Mountain Hospice for the loving care

Irvine, Leah Puntney
Leah Puntney Irvine 9/30/1919 ~ 4/7/2005 Our mom and grandmother peacefully
passed away April 7, 2005. Mom was born on Sept. 30, 1919 in Brigham City,
Utah to Henry Earnest and Elvira Puntney. She was raised by Robert Puntney,
her stepfather. She married James M. Irvine on Sept 30, 1937, and their
marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were married
43 years. She was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities. One of the many joys of mom's
life was dancing. She was active in local and national square dancing, serving
as a board member on the National Executive Square Dancing Committee for many
years. She loved to sew and did excellent needlework. She was preceded in
death by her husband and brother. Survived by: Sisters, Jennie Scott, Mesa,
Arizona; Hazel Wheadon, South Jordan; and Harriet Whitlock, Mcgill, Nevada.
Children: Carol (John) DeVries, Chicago, Illinois; Sandy (Gary) Clayton, West
Jordan; James R. "Bob" (Cheryl) Salt Lake; Greg (Josie), Cleveland, Utah;
Susan (Kent) Ferlan, Kennewick, Washington; 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grand
children, seven great-great grand children. Funeral services Tuesday 11 a.m.,

Jensen, Eugene K.
Eugene K. Jensen Together Again Eugene Keddington Jensen (Gene), 95, was born
August 6, 1909 in Freedom, Utah, to Andrew and Elizabeth Jensen. As a young
man, he met Erma Ruth Brown, the love of his life, and on September 16, 1935,
they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Gene
drove buses for Salt Lake Lines for 34 years. He was an avid fisherman,
golfer, bowler, and gardener, and his green thumb was the envy of the
neighborhood. His grandchildren loved to pick grapes, apples, peaches, pears,
and berries from Grandpa's garden. His children and grandchildren will always
remember Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas Eves spent at "Grandpa and
Grandma's house," Sunday night barbeques with homemade ice cream, breakfasts
in the canyon, and Grandpa's stories of his boyhood in Freedom. Gene lived a
long and healthy life, but a recent fall was too much for him. He passed away
peacefully on April 6, 2005, but his legacy lives on. He is survived by his
sons Gordon (Cheriel), Byron (Rae), his daughters Deanne Carroll (Kerry), and
Laurel Rhine (William), 10 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by his wife Erma and a grandson, Darin Carroll. A
viewing will be held Sunday, April 10, at the Orchard 13th Ward, 261 E Center
St. N Salt Lake, 6:30 to 8 pm. A graveside service will be held at Lakeview
Cemetery in Bountiful Monday, April 11, at 11 am.

Jensen, Mildred Munk
Mildred Munk Jensen 1912 ~ 2005 Mildred Munk Jensen passed away on April 8,
2005 in Salt Lake City from causes incident to age. She was born July 26, 1912
to Lewis Edgar Munk and Frances Wright Munk in Bennington, Idaho. She
graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor's degree in Commerce. She
taught high school in St. Anthony, Idaho where she met her future husband,
Reed Howard Jensen. They were married on May 26, 1937 in the Salt Lake City
LDS Temple. They lived in Ogden, Utah, Washington, D.C., Albuquerque, New
Mexicao, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Portland, Oregon, and most recently, Salt Lake
City, Utah. She was a devout and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many capacities during her
lifetime. She and Reed served as missionaries in Liberty, Missouri and in
Seattle, Washington. Mildred loved to read and kept abreast of current events.
With Reed, she had the opportunity to travel to Europe, the Holy Land, Egypt,
Guatemala and Mexico. She enjoyed gardening and loved the beautiful landscape
of the Pacific Northwest. She was an excellent cook and excelled at the
domestic arts. She cherished her many friends in cities where she had lived
and kept in touch with them as long as she was able. Our mother especially
loved and took pride in her family. She is survived by her three children,
Karen Jensen, Floyd (Tammy) Jensen and Donald (Kathy) Jensen. Her
grandchildren are Kelly (Nate) Henne, Craig (Sabrina) Jensen, Thomas (Lisa)
Jensen, Megan Jensen, Eric Jensen, Greg (Annie) Jensen, Jonathan Jensen,
Christina Jensen-Augustine and Matthew Jensen. She was predeceased by her
husband, Reed, and her sister, Roberta Fay Donnely. Her sister Lillian (John)
McDonald and her brother, Lewis Munk, join in mourning her passing. Mildred
loved all her nieces and nephews and other extended family and sought out
relatives wherever she went. She was especially proud of her four
great-grandchildren. A family graveside service will be held on Friday, April
15, 2005 at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Portland, Oregon. Memorial services
will be held on Monday, April 11, 2005 at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350
East 1300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah at 7:00 p.m. and on April 15, 2005 at
1:00 p.m. at the Raleigh Hills/ Gabriel Park LDS Chapel, Portland, Oregon. The
family wishes to express their appreciation for the love and support extended
by Mildred's many friends and relatives throughout her life. She lived a life
of integrity, compassion and commitment. Her sparkling sense of humor and her
love and care graced our lives. We will miss her.

Johns, Mary Jane Neville
Mary Jane Neville Johns 1921 ~ 2005 Mary Jane Neville Johns, age 83, passed
away at her home Tuesday, April 5, 2005. Jane was born May 5, 1921 in Salt
Lake City to Thomas Edward and Elizabeth Clara Salisbury Neville. She married
Kenneth Harrison Johns in New York City Oct. 31, 1946 while both were serving
in the U.S. Navy. Jane graduated from Mercy Hospital in San Diego as an RN and
was stationed in a Nebraska base hospital during World War II. Her love of
travel and family history led her many places and made many friends. She was
preceded in death by her husband in 1990; and her only brother, Jim. She is
survived by her children, Terry (Blake) Madsen of Fairview, Utah, and Robert
(Margaret) Johns of Oxnard, California; plus seven grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 11, in the
Lakeridge North Stake Center (located at 450 South 100 West, Orem), 11 a.m.,
with a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Veteran's

Robert Klaas 1938 ~ 2005 Robert Klaas passed away on April 6, 2005 in West
Valley City, UT. He was born on August 6, 1938 in Grindstone, PA to Ernest
Herman and Emma Jane Klaas. He graduated from Yuma High School in 1956.
Married Fawn P. Phillips Jan. 27, 1961 in Las Vegas, NV. He retired from
Northwest Airlines after serving a 43 year career. Robert is survived by his
loving wife, Fawn; children, Sharlene (Brooks) Jensen, Felene Mattena, Robert
R. Klaas of West Valley City, and Brandie (Joe) Cava of Rancho Cordova, CA.;
grandchildren, Angela Hales, Chris Mattena and great-grandchild, Alysia Hunter
of West Valley City. He is also survived by mother, Emma Jane; brother, Ernest
Fred Klaas of Yuma, AZ and sister, Tammy (Ray) Gobin of Phoenix, AZ. Preceded
in death by father, Ernest H. Klaas. The family will receive friends at a
Visitation on Monday, April 11, 2005, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Valley View

Kolb, Quentin France
The Reverend Quentin France Kolb Ya'at'eeh Retired Episcopal Priest and
American Indian Spiritual Leader, Quentin F. Kolb died Thursday, April 7 of
complications resulting from a life long illness. Born in Fort Duchesne, Utah
August 17, 1924 to DonaI Isaac Kolb and Ethel Daniels Kolb, Quentin received
his early education from White Rocks Indian Boarding School and the Bureau of
Indian Affairs School at Fort Duchesne before being accepted as one of the few
non-white students at Roosevelt High School where he published a school paper
graduated as class salutatorian. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War
II, and then settled in Salt Lake to attend the University of Utah. While at
the U., Quentin was active in student government serving as both president of
his class and of the entire student body. He was a member of Skull and Bones,
Phi Beta Kappa, and the Beta Theta Pi fraternity where he also held office. He
graduated Magna Cum Laude from the U in 1947 as one of the first, if not the
first student of native descent. He was recently nominated by the University
Department of Geriatrics as a Living Treasure in the State of Utah. In the
1950's Quentin worked as general manager for Grand Central Stores and later
Paramount Murray Laundry, before packing his family off to New York City to
study for the priesthood at General Theological Seminary. Ordained in 1963, he
first served as curate at St. Marks Cathedral in Salt Lake and later was the
founding vicar of the Church of the Resurrection in Centerville and also as
founding priest of St. Stephen's in West Valley City. Prior to the
construction of the Church of the Resurrection, Quentin held services in the
old Jeep Posse Building where a Buffalo head hung on the wall above a
make-shift altar. Quentin served on the original national board of directors
for Odyssey House and was the Founding Director of the Odyssey House Salt Lake
treatment facility. In addition, Quentin did chaplaincy work at the Utah State
Prison, served as a social worker at St. Marks Hospital, and participated in a
fact finding mission for the U.N. in an effort to develop new strategies for
achieving peace in the Middle East. He has also served many years on the
Crossroads Urban Planning Commission and has been active in the Salt Lake
interfaith community. His greatest strength and joy was in the work he did as
an advocate for oppressed and indigenous people. In the 1990's Quentin was
invited on several occasions to New Zealand by the Maori people who regarded
him as a gifted spiritual leader with an understanding of the unique needs of
Native people. When it was announced that Utah would host the 2000 Winter
Olympics, it was Quentin Kolb who would press the Olympic Planning Committee
to acknowledge the original occupants of the state in a respectful and
dignified manner. The work of his heart, was the work he did at Urban Indian
Support Ministries. He established a safe place where Indians, who were away
from reservations for whatever reason, could find a sense of community. There,
they could seek guidance and assistance, both spiritual and physical, in
establishing themselves in meaningful and productive lives, while continuing
to embrace their Native cultural values and traditions. Quentin is survived by
his sisters, Naturitch Kolb Neilsen and La Donna Kolb Johnson; his brother, Ty
Kolb; his children, Jon Christopher Kolb, Candace Kolb, and Quentin France
Kolb Jr; his stepchildren, Robert Coulter and Stephanie Coulter; four
grandchildren; and three great-grandchil-dren. The family would like to thank
Sharon Odekirk and her family for the love and support they have given over
the past several years, and warm thanks also to the staffs at both St.
Joseph's Villa and at The Residence by Care Source. In lieu of flowers, the

Larsen, Turner A.
Turner A. Larsen 1922 ~ 2005 Turner A. Larsen, 82, passed away April 7, 2005
in Sandy, Utah. He was born November 23, 1922, in Brigham City, Utah, the
eldest child of Austin A. and Nellie Turner Larsen. Turner graduated from Box
Elder High School and joined the United States Navy on January 14, 1941. He
retired from the Navy after serving his country for 25 years. Turner was a
survivor of Pearl Harbor attack serving on the U.S.S. New Orleans. He was in
17 major battles in the Pacific. He was a member of the Disabled American
Veterans Assoc., Veterans of Foreign Wars, Pearl Harbor Survivors Assoc., and
the U.S. Navy Cruiser Sailor Assoc. Turner wrote an article for the U.S. Navy
Cruiser Magazine called " A Day of Paralyzing Shock", of his experience as a
19 year old regarding the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He was an active member of
the Crown Rose Ward in Herriman, Utah. He married Carolyn Elaine Dinsdale on
May 23, 1943 in Ogden, Utah. He is survived by his three children, Carrie Jean
(Kevin) Trussell, Iowa; Charles Larsen, Ogden and Paul Larsen, Herriman; two
granddaughters, Mellissa Trussell and Melony Stewart, No. Ogden; and one
great-grandson, Colman; four sisters: Helen Carter, Midvale; Lois (Ray)
Sargent, Bountiful; Sarah LaRae Brown, Marriot /Slaterville; and Nelda (Gary)
Hollingsworth, Brigham City. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents,
and three brothers-in-law. Turner lived the last years of his life with his
son Paul, in Herriman, Utah. He was interested in gardening, reading and
always listened to the radio. According to the wishes of Turner there will be
a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2005 at Ogden City
Cemetery, 1875 Monroe Blvd, Ogden. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the

Larson, David Grant
David Grant Larson 1928 ~ 2005 Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother
and friend, David Grant Larson began his turn on earth September 28, 1928 and
returned to his Heavenly Father, April 7, 2005 after a valiant battle with
cancer. Born the fourth of 12 children to Carl Walfred Larson and Bessie
Laverne Winegar in Salt Lake City, where he was taught the Gospel of Jesus
Christ; he then spent the rest of his life bringing others to Christ. He
married his sweetheart, Doris Cummings, April 2, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple,
sealed by Elder Spencer W. Kimball. As patriarch to his family, he served us
with kindness and gentleness, always encouraging us to be peacemakers. He
never spoke guile. Dad's greatest desire was to live his life like the Savior.
His motto: "People are more important than things". Dad was a man of integrity
and true to his word. He loved teaching people about the House of Israel. He
served in the Southwest Indian Mission and later served the people of Tonga
with his dear wife as his companion. They also served as service missionaries
and as ordinance workers in the Jordan River Temple. He was a veteran of
Korea. He was self-employed most of his life and provided a comfortable living
for his family through hard work and a positive attitude. He taught us: "We

2005 in Phoenix, Arizona. Born September 28, 1943 in Salt Lake City to Glenn
and Madeline Scott Lee. Married Charlette Malm, later divorced. Married Judy
Hunsaker September 28, 1979. Steven was the owner of J. G. Lee Excavating. He
loved to golf, paint rocks, woodworking, and working in his vegetable and
flower garden. He had a unique sense of humor. He enjoyed wintering in Yuma
and the retirement home in Kanab. Survived by his wife Judy, children, Deborah
Lee (Scott) Knorpp, Dena Lee (David) Hoskins, Brad (Teresea) Hendricks, Lisa
(Rick) Carmean, 7 grandchildren, Jesse, Alex, Vanessa, Cassandra, Alexandria,
Nicholas, and Ashley, sister, Linda Webber and Patricia Nyre. Preceded in
death by his brother, Jerry. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April

Marach, Elfriede
Elfriede Auguste Marach "In Loving Memory" Elfriede Auguste Marach, age 92,
passed away at home April 8, 2005 in Sandy, Utah after heroically enduring the
afflictions of advanced age. Elfriede was born to Theodor Marach and Auguste
Ananias on November 30, 1912, in Hoeval Westfhalia, Germany. Elfriede
graduated from high school in 1926. In 1938 she was called to be a missionary
for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bremen, Germany. Her
special assignment was to organize Primaries throughout the West German
Mission. When World War II started, she was transferred to the Mission Bureau
in Frankfurt, where she was in charge of mission statistics and records. After
her mission she attended college and received a business degree. She married
her first husband, Hans Wiborny, in Germany in 1941. When that marriage
failed, she and her young daughter, Helga Wiborny, immigrated to the United
States and relocated in Salt Lake City in 1947. She married Eric Walter
Zoellner in the Salt Lake City Temple in March, 1951. She became a U.S.
citizen in August, 1956. She served in various capacities in the Sunday
School, YWMIA, Relief Society, and Genealogical Society. She really lived for,
and enjoyed, her temple work. She made many sacrifices as a single mother of
three children, especially for her son, David, who was mentally and physically
handicapped. She devoted her life to David and loved him very much. She worked
at Salt Lake's Holy Cross Hospital in the Anesthesiology Department as a
technician/book-keeper until she retired in 1975. Her legacy of love will
continue to influence the lives of her family. Her testimony of faith and hope
were a great example to all and she will be greatly and dearly missed.
Elfriede is survived by her daughter, Helga E. (John) Morby, Sandy; her son,
Walter P. (Jolene) Zoellner, Taylorsville; and her brother, Helmut (Marianne)
March, Sandy; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchil-dren; and many nieces
and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, David A. Zoellner; parents;
brother, William K. Marach; sisters, Waltraut Hofmann and Erna Woltjen.
Special thanks go to Glenna, Deb and Jill at Harmony Home Health and Hospice;
Natalie and Rod Brown, a granddaughter and her husband, who cared for Omie
during her last days; and Amber Coleman, a granddaughter who visited and cared
for her daily in her last days. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April
12, 2005, 11 a.m., at Mc-Dougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, where
friends and family may visit Monday, April 11, 2005 and Tuesday, 10-10:45

Middlemiss, Carolyn Hamrick
Carolyn Hamrick Middlemiss 1923 ~ 2005 Carolyn passed peacefully in the early
morning on April 2 after a full life lived with courage, nobility, grace and
love. She was born October 29, 1923 in Irwington, Georgia to Eldon and Velma
(Byers) Hamrick. She married Earl H. Middlemiss Jr., (deceased) in 1946. Their
union was blessed with a son (Earl) and two daughters (Mendi and Linda).
Carolyn found joy in raising her children, befriending her grandchildren,
gardening, square dancing and teaching in Granite School District. She brought
joy, humor, warmth and love to her family, neighbors, students and many
friends. During her last two decades she was blessed with a deep abiding
friendship with Mr. Harold Leavitt. Carolyn is survived by and lovingly
remembered by her brother, Paul Richard Hamrick; son Earl (Christine)
Middlemiss; daughters Linda Herrick and Mendi (Henry) Brito; grandchildren
Jeremy (Lindsey) Middlemiss, Jon (Dana) Middlemiss, Anna (Paul) Jackson,
Rebecca Middlemiss, Tammy Middlemiss and Nathan Tafoya; and
great-grandchildren Christian and Taylor Middlemiss and Elizabeth Jackson. In
addition to her parents and husband, Carolyn was preceded in death by her dear
brothers James and Robert. Thanks to everyone at Care Source. The funeral

Miller, Harry
Harry Miller 1905 ~ 2005 There's Something About Harry Our dad, Harry Miller,
passed away April 6, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah after a long and
adventuresome life. He was two months shy of 100 years old. His last words
were "everything is wonderful." Harry was born on June 14, 1905 in New York
City. He married Shirley Nielsen in 1941. Shirley preceded him in death in
October, 2003. They had five children. Harry served in the 79th Infantry
Division during World War II, achieved the rank of captain and received four
bronze stars. He was an entrepreneur and founded the Lorraine Press, one of
Utah's oldest printing companies. He published many newspapers and magazines
and retired with his last publication of the Veterans Voice in 2004. He loved
boxing and was the National President of Golden Gloves in 1976. He was a
committed member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a National Post
Commander. He is survived by his children Robert A. Miller (Bonnie Miller),
Lorraine Miller (Carol Gnade), Marilyn Lewis (David Lewis), Alice Carling
(Nick Carling) and Dan Miller, nine grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters Ann Richtel, Fresno CA and
Rose Geller, Denver, CO. Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 11,
2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Ave. and "N" Street.

Orrin Towler Miller 06/15/19 ~ 04/07/05 Orrin "Bud" Miller passed away on
April 7, 2005. He was born June 15, 1919 to Orrin LaRoy and Eleanor Miller in
Salt Lake City. He married Lois W. Miller in the Salt Lake Temple on September
18, 1959. Orrin attended Granite High School after which he received his
Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science degrees from the University of
Utah. He served in the Army during World War II in Europe. As a professional
engineer he designed and built many projects in the western states, in
Washington, D.C., and overseas in Guam and Iran. He served a mission to the
East Central States, a work mission in Salt Lake City, and several stake
missions. He also served in various Church callings throughout his life. He is
survived by his wife, Lois; children, Lois (Dirk) Johnson, Shelley (Lloyd)
Earl, Maureen (John) Christensen, Richard (Roni) Miller, and Roy (Alice)
Miller; sister, Vilma Lewis; and 20 grandchildren. Funeral services will be
Tuesday, April 12, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sandy Central Stake Center, 1050 E.
Galena Drive (9800 S.) with viewings at the church Monday from 6-8 p.m. and

Jonson Muir, daughter of Allen Leonard Jonson and Herculina Johanna Opperman
has rejoined her beloved husband Norman I. Muir in heaven on April 1, 2005.
Born June 29th, 1934 in East London, South Africa. Survived by her three
daughters and their families: Leonette (Scott) Wells and their four children,
Andrea (Scott) Fritzsche and their three children, and Joanne (Bill) Cusson
and their three Children, also four great grandchildren. All of whom will love
and miss her. Until we meet again, Mom, we love you. Graveside services were
held Friday April 8, 2005 at Page City Cemetery.

Larry R Oldroyd 1929 ~ 2005 RICHFIELD, UTAH - Larry R Oldroyd, 76, of
Richfield, Utah, passed away April 8, 2005, in Richfield. He was born January
5, 1929, in Glenwood, Utah, to LaVar and Luella Kesten Nielsen Oldroyd. He
married Bonnie Hyatt, in Richfield, Utah, on August, 25, 1949. Larry loved his
family, cabin, horses, hunting, fishing, wood working and making jewelry. He
received an honor award from the Department of Interior for superior service
in December of 1990. He was selected as the Rangeman of the Year in 1989 for
the state of Utah. He retired after 41 years of dedicated service to the
Federal Government. Larry played an active role in preserving the Utah Wild
Horse Heritage. He was honored in 1990 in the Western Horseman magazine for
his leadership in the Henry Mountains Buffalo Management Resources. He was
also a member of the Range Society. He loved being outdoors. He is survived by
his wife, Bonnie, Richfield; children, Bonnie Jean (John D.) Offutt, Vernal;
Steve L (Terie) Oldroyd, Vernal; Joyce (Dell J.) Johnson, Vernal; and Dan H.
(Wendy) Oldroyd, St. George; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, LaVar Kay Oldroyd, Lyle Todd
Oldroyd and Lou Dix Oldroyd; and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Diane Oldroyd.

Gilbert Pando "Shadow" Our loving uncle, brother, and friend, Gilbert, passed
away April 7, 2005. He was born Dec 14, 1936 in Bingham Canyon to Gregorio and
Annie Lujan Pando. He was the second of seven children. Gilbert served in the
U.S. Navy during the Korea Conflict. He was a member in good standing in the
American Legion Post 132. He loved to fish and hunt. Gilbert was a maintenance
engineer for Kennecott Corp. and later retired. He also worked as a truck
driver for Salt Lake County, and was currently working as a security guard for
Otto & Sons. Gilbert is survived by four sisters, Della, Mary, Bessie,
Margaret; special niece, Delia and her three children, Darren, Josh and
Dezirae; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by his
parents; brothers, Fred, George and nephew, Willie. Funeral services will be
held Tuesday, April 12th, 10 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 S.

Rich, Roxie Nelson
Roxie Nelson Rich 1909 ~ 2005 Roxie Nelson Rich, loving wife, mother,
grandmother, great grandmother, and friend passed away April 8, 2005 due to
causes incident to age after an eventful 95 years of life. She was surrounded
and comforted by her loving family. She was born May 26, 1909, in Sandy, Utah,
daughter of August M. Nelson and Mabel Electa Jensen. She was the first born
and the last to return home. She attended schools in Sandy and graduated from
Jordan High School in 1927. After graduating from Henagers Business College,
she worked in Salt Lake City as a secretary and bookkeeper at Judge McCrae's
Court, Film Booking Corp., and nine years for Scott & Welch, prominent
architects. Roxie married John E. Rich on December 14, 1933 in the Salt Lake
LDS Temple. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day
Saints she held various positions: Sunday School Stake Board Member, East
Jordan Stake & Mt. Jordan Stake Relief Society Board Member, and editor of the
Ward Newsletters for Sandy 4th and 5th Wards. She served as Ward Organist for
16 Bishops; also served as a choir member, and visiting teacher. She did
sealing assignments at the Salt Lake and Jordan River Temples, and later
worked with the FREP Program for the Church. She was an active member of the
Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the local PTA serving as President of the PTA
of Mt. Jordan Jr. High. At the request of her father and after many years of
research, she wrote and published The History and People of Early Sandy. She
recently published a 2nd edition of her book. For her efforts she received
from Sandy City their Sandy City Lifetime Achievement Award. Roxie loved
music, writing, quilting, and other handwork; but her main interest was her
family and making home pleasant. She is survived by one son, Robert J. Rich
and wife Carol of Santa Fe, New Mexico, twin daughters Elaine Petersen and
Eileen Rich, both of West Jordan, Utah; eight grandchildren, Jeremy C. Rich,
Adam K. Rich, Ryan D. Rich, Wendy L. Christensen, A.J. Rich, Hailey R. Savage,
Logan S. Rich, Alexis Rich, daughter-in-law, Laurie Rich; and 15 great
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, John E. Rich, son,
Richard Neil Rich; brothers, Marvin Leo, Raymond A., Virden J., and Arval J.
Nelson; sisters, Loa Steed and Norma N. Jenkins. She lived her last few years
at Legacy House in South Jordan where she will be greatly missed. She will
also be missed by many more. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 12,
at 11 a.m. at the Mtn. Shadows 5th Ward Chapel, 7925 So. 2700 West. Friends

Ricks on November 28, 1928 in the Salt Lake Temple. She enjoyed crocheting,
crafts and loved to play the piano. She is survived by her children: Lorene
(Don) Nelson, Ralph (Lois) Ricks, Allen Ricks, Marilyn Blatt; 22
grandchildren; 67 great grandchildren and 34 great-great grandchildren.

Smith, LaMar Preece
LaMar Preece Smith 1920 ~ 2005 Our loving father, grandpa, and friend left
this world to be reunited with his loving wife, Gerda on April 8, 2005. LaMar
was born May 21, 1920 in Cove, Utah to LeRoy and Lona (Preece) Smith. He
married Gerda Eva Schmidt in the Salt Lake LDS Temple November 26, 1946. She
passed away June 13, 1986. Later married Glorya Schow, divorced. He spent his
childhood in Richmond, Utah, where he learned the value of hard work on the
family farm. He enjoyed gardening, golf, skiing, boating and U of U sports. He
graduated from North Cache High School, attended Utah State University and
obtained a B. S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah where
he was honored as a member of Tau Beta Pi, a distinguished award for
scholarship, exemplary character and accomplishment in the field of
engineering. Achievements include past President and Chairman of the Board of
Caldwell, Richards and Sorenson Engineering. Highlights of his career include
site layouts for the LDS Church including the Jordan River Temple, Kennecott
Copper Corp., utilities for municipalities, the restoration of Liberty Park
pond and Heber Valley Railroad of which he was especially proud. Dad was a
loving husband and father that exemplified integrity, fairness, and courage.
Thanks Dad, for being the humble simple man that helped build this community
to its present beauty. Survived by four children; Claudia Bickal, Steven
(Jean), Valerie (Dee) Johnson, Kevin; 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren;
brother Eugene and close friend Elsie Wright. Preceded in death by brother,
Glen. Special thanks to the many doctors and care givers throughout his life.

Tanner, Grace Adams
Grace Adams Tanner 1906 ~ 2005 Grace Adams Tanner died peacefully at her home
on Thursday evening, April 7. She was 98 years old. Grace was attended by her
children and those who have cared for her in her last days. Born in Parowan,
Utah on November 30, 1906, Grace was the sixth child of Luella Redd Adams and
Thomas Davenport Adams, both descendants of early southern Utah settlers. Her
parents' first year of marriage was spent on an LDS mission in Samoa. They
returned to raise a family of eleven children. They worked in dairy farming
and held various church and civic positions. Grace married Obert Clark Tanner
of Farmington, Utah on August 5, 1931 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had six
children. Three of their sons died tragically in childhood of unrelated
causes. Grace and Obert's life together was one of deep affection and mutual
respect. They traveled and studied widely, eventually returning in 1944 to
Salt Lake City where Obert taught philosophy at the University of Utah and
built a manufacturing company that makes recognition awards for corporations
all over the world. Obert died in 1993. A stalwart supporter of her husband's
adventures at every turn, Grace was a vivacious and distinguished woman in her
own right. After studying for three years at the University of Utah, she
graduated from Southern Utah University in Cedar City, and holds an honorary
doctoral degree from that university. The Shakespeare Memorial Theatre there
is named for her parents, and the Alumni Room at the University of Utah bears
her name. Grace and Obert enjoyed their shared charitable work, creating a
legacy of giving for the arts, education and the public good. Grace was
particularly devoted to the Red Butte Gardens and the Utah Nature Conservancy.
Two other projects, named for Grace and Obert, are the Gift of Music and the
Humanities Center at the University of Utah. Grace is survived by her sister,
Carol Adams Wright, of Parowan; her children Joan Adele Tanner Reddish of
Taos, New Mexico; Carolyn Tanner Irish of Salt Lake City; David Obert Tanner
of Ramona, California; seven grandchildren and a great-grand-child. The family
wishes to express their appreciation to Grace's friends and to those who have
cared for her in recent years: Pat Rhodes, Zona Field, Jann Criswell, Viviane
De Oliveira, Claudia Brown, Mark and Terry Gilbert, and Joleen Huber. The
family will greet friends and relatives at Grace's home in Salt Lake City,
3501 South 2700 East, on Monday evening, April 11, from six to eight o'clock,
and at the stake center an hour before the funeral service. Funeral services

94. Dorothy was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 14, 1910 to Alfred B.
and Pearl W. Blakemore. Dorothy is survived by her son, Dennis Thurman (wife
Irene), two grandsons, Mr. and Mrs. Darren Thurman, Mr. and Mrs. Todd Thurman
and two great-grand-daughters. She is also survived by her brother, Fred
Blakemore (wife Paula), two nieces, Carolyn Kennard Janczylik and Janis
Kennard Foley and two nephews, Lynn Blakemore and Steven Blakemore. Several
great and great-great nieces and nephews also survive Dorothy. Dorothy was a
member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She
was executive secretary to two Utah District Directors of the Internal Revenue
Service, C. Irvin Fox and Roland V. Wise. Dorothy enjoyed traveling, reading
and time with her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and
numerous friends. Graveside services will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial
Park and Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah, on Monday,
April 11, 2005 at 12:00 noon.

Wilson, LaPriel
LaPriel Wilson 1911 ~ 2005 LaPriel Goodwin Wilson passed away peacefully at
her home in Centerville, Utah on April 7, 2005, one day after her 94th
birthday. She was born in Lehi, Utah on April 6, 1911 to Samuel Isaac Goodwin
and Olena Anderson. She married William Robert "Bill" Wilson on November 7,
1947 in the Arizona LDS Temple. Together they lovingly raised their two
daughters, Sandy and Laurie. LaPriel remained busy throughout her life--she
was the original Energizer bunny! While in Lehi she worked as the bookkeeper
in her father's store, the Goodwin's Golden Rule. She always had a church
calling as she and Bill made their homes in Glendale, CA; Littleton, CO; and
Centerville, UT. As Relief Society president in Glendale she was much loved
for her good works and creative activities. She took great joy serving with
Bill in the Salt Lake Temple during their retirement years. LaPriel was truly
a woman of faith and serious gospel study! Even after health problems tried to
slow her down she remained active in her family's lives. She especially
enjoyed visits from her many grandchildren, whom she adored (and worried
over). LaPriel loved to play the piano and sing with her sisters. She
accompanied countless choirs and vocal groups. Her friendly, fun-loving spirit
drew others close (her friends were friends for life). She was famous for her
homemade chicken noodle soup and her original Christmas piano medley. Survived
by daughter, Sandy Wilson; Scott (Ranae) Thornton; eight grandchildren; two
great - grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband,
Bill; daughter, Laurie Thornton; grandson, Nathan Thornton; all eight older
siblings. What a joyful reunion she has had with them! Funeral services at 12
noon, Tuesday, April 12th at Centerville Stake Center, 950 North Main,
Centerville, UT, followed by interment at Lehi Cemetery. Friends may call
