Baker/Casper, Landen Gaffney
Landen Gaffney Baker/Casper "Lando Commando" Momma's sunshine, Landen, was
born February 18, 1994 at Cottonwood Hospital. His short life ended April 15,
2005. Landen was my little jokester; he always had a joke to make someone who
was sad happy. His purpose in life was to have fun whether it was playing
Playstation, his Gameboy, or showing his mom his latest "skate" tricks. He
always liked doing things with the people he loved. He had many friends who
were always excited and anxious to be with Landen. His very best friend would
have to be his brother, Cody. Cody and Landen's relationship was very special,
always helping each other along the way. Cody knows that Landen is with his
Heavenly Father who loves him in Heaven and Cody talks to him often. Landen
was a member of the LDS Church and had just become a scout which he enjoyed
very much. Landen had a very special artistic ability. He loved to draw things
that made him happy and also would share his work with everyone. Some of his
favorite things to do was make people laugh, wrestle with his brothers, Kaden
and Cody, and his stepdad, Troy. They were always having fun together,
especially with the outside activities they enjoyed. Landen loved to camp and
hike and loved riding our four wheeler that Troy and him went together to pick
out. Landen was his mom's pride and joy and my little buddy. He touched
everyone he knew and always lit up the room. Landen -- you are my sunshine and
my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey. You'll never know
dear, how much I love you, please don't take my sunshine away. Momma loves you
and my sunshine will never go away. Landen is survived by his mom, Caroline
Casper; brother, Cody; brother, Kaden Wright; stepdad, Troy Wright;
grandparents, Art and Luana Casper, Jack and Vicky Spainhower, David and
Melinda Baker; father, Brendan Baker; great-grandmas, Ada Belliston, Joyce
Gaffney; also many, many uncles, aunts, and cousins all who love Landen
dearly. Preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Arthur and Bernice
Casper; great-grandfathers, Harold Belliston and Robert Gaffney; great-aunt,
Jennie Sue; uncle, Dustyn Baker. Funeral services will be held Wed-nesday,
April 20, 2005 at 12 noon in the Willow Creek 3rd Ward, 2400 East Alta Canyon
Drive, Sandy, Utah. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary 8090 So. State Tuesday

Bolling Jr., Laban David
Laban David Bolling, Jr. 1939 ~ 2005 Laban David Bolling, Jr. passed away
April 16, 2005 at LDS Hospital due to complications following heart surgery.
He was born to Laban David Bolling and Doris Lee Daniels Bolling, Jan. 1, 1939
in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Airforce. He worked for Union
Pacific Railroad as a locomotive engineer. He had a testimony of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved the Lord. He is survived by wife
Merla (Kay) Keetch Bolling, son Laban David Bolling III (Emmy), daughter
Michele Howard; brothers Alfonso V. Bolling (Lois), Gregory Willis and a
special cousin Aljay Harding (Kay); grandchildren Sadie Bolling, Aaron and
Michael Howard; step children Richard Earl (Laurie), Nancy Lee (Steven), Jim
Earl (Michele), Lisa Anthony (Steven); step grandchildren Kristin, Amy,
Heather, Parker, Nicole, Dalton, Madison, and Sarah. One great grandson and
two step great-grandsons. Preceded in death by father, mother and two grand
children. He is loved and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers donations
can be made to Primary Children's Hospital in Laban Bollings name. Graveside
services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Utah Veterans Memorial Park
17111 So. Camp Williams Rd., Bluffdale. Friends may call Thursday evening from

Bryson, Dr. Melvin J.
Dr. Melvin J. Bryson 1916 ~ 2005 Melvin Joseph Bryson passed away April 14,
2005 after a short battle with Leukemia. He was born in Providence, Utah June
7, 1916 to Martha Jane Quibell and Charles Melvin Bryson. He was the sixth
child in a family of eight children. Graduated from South Cache High School,
Utah State University with a BS in microbiology, the University of Utah with
an MS in Biochemistry, and Texas A&M with a PhD in Biochemistry. Served in the
U.S. Army from 1941-45 as a commissioned officer. Married Devona Smart May 11,
1942 in Yakima, Washington; sealed in the Salt Lake Temple April 9, 1943.
Worked at Norwich Pharmacal Company in Upstate New York in research for seven
years, University of Utah Medical Center in OB Gyn Cancer research, and in
helping to introduce and develop the use of the L/S ratio test for fetal lung
maturity. After retiring at the University he was requested to start and
develop the Interwest Endocrine Laboratory. Served numerous positions in the
LDS Church, home teacher, ward clerk, assistant stake clerk, high council,
Young Men's and Sunday School presidencies. He and his wife served a mission
to Kentucky and were ordinance workers in the Jordan River Temple for 13
years. Survived by his wife, Devona, of 63 years; son, Melvin J. (Cherry)
Bryson Jr.; daughter, Betty Sue (Duane M.) Linford; grandchildren, Jonathan
(Ni-cole) Bryson, Jared Bryson, Melissa (Greg) Fowles, Rececca (Chris) Snell,
Joseph (Stephanie) Linford, and Miri-am Linford; great-grandchildren, He-ber
Snell, Abigail Snell, Paige Linford, and Grace Linford. Preceded in death by
parents, brothers and sisters. The family would like to extend their thanks to
the many hospital staff, doctors, hospice workers, especially Debi Einfeldt,
for their loving care. Funeral services will be held Wed-nesday April 20,
2005, 11 a.m. at the Big Cottonwood Stake Center 1750 East Spring Lane.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the
Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State St. and Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m.
at the church. Interment, Holladay Memorial Park.

Callahan, Ivan Deo
Ivan Deo Callahan 1923 ~ 2005 On Sunday April 17, 2005 Ivan Deo Callahan
returned to his Heavenly Father's arms. Ivan was born May 24, 1923 in Dysart,
Iowa to John Everett and Beatrice J. Callahan. Ivan will be remembered for his
red hair, his sense of humor and his charm. But most of all for the love he
had for his son and grandsons. Ivan was preceded in death by his wife Alice
Vigen, his parents and his three brothers Russell, Warren and Mark. He is
survived by his son Michael Olpin Callahan (mother Helen Olpin Snow Callahan)
his wife Carole and five grandsons Blaine, Skyler, Kameron, Derek and Shawn.
Ivan has generously donated his body the University of Utah and there will be
no services. Our thanks to the kind staff at Avalon Rehabilitation Center.

Campbell, Douglas A.
Douglas A Campbell 1928 ~ 2005 Douglas A Campbell passed away April 17, 2005.
Doug was born August 1, 1928 in Neola Utah. He will be welcomed into heaven by
his loving wife, grandson, many friends and family. Doug was gregarious,
friendly and a very giving man. He loved the outdoors and was an active leader
in any community he was a part of. He is survived by his children Bruce
(Jeanie) Campbell, Justin (Lois) Campbell, Robyn (Blaine) Burton, Rebecca C
White, 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three sisters and a whole
lot of friends. A viewing will be held at Heideman Mortuary, St. George, Utah,
Tuesday April 19, 2005 6-9 p.m. Services will be held at the Thatcher LDS
church, Thatcher, Idaho, Thursday April 21, 2005. Viewing will begin at 12:30
and the funeral service will follow at 2 p.m.

Chapman, Marjorie Ruth
Marjorie Ruth Chapman 1913 ~ 2005 Kenai resident Marjorie Ruth Chapman died
Friday, April 15, 2005 at home in Kenai. She was 92. Graveside service will be
held at the Centerville Cemetery in Centerville, Utah. Mrs. Chapman was born
Mar. 26, 1913 in Centerville. She was a homemaker. She moved to Alaska in
October 2002. Mrs. Chapman was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed gardening and crafts. "Remembering the
wonderful life and gracious spirit of Marjorie Chapman. In honoring her, she
loved to tell the stories of her youth in Utah and she had some very creative
crafts. She had a very adventurous spirit, piercing blue eyes, glowing
complexion, and a beautiful smile. She always remembered others with small
gifts, cards or a kind word." her family said. Mrs. Chapman was preceded in
death by her husband, Valjean Chapman. She is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, Douglas and Jill Chapman of Kenai; grandchildren, Rebecca
Hall and husband Mike of Kenai, Alicia Marron and husband, Todd of Utah,
Rainee Pontius and husband, Ben of Utah; great-grand-children, Ashley Brenton,
Rachael Hall, Jasmine Marron, Tiffany Hall, Tanner Marron, Brittany Hall,
Conner Marron, and Isaac Pontius; sister Marian Wilcox of Utah; and
sister-in-law, Mary Brown of Bountiful, Utah. The family prefers memorial
donations in her name to Hospice of the Central Peninsula, P.O. Box 2584,
Soldotna, AK 99669. Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.

Clark, Lewis K.
Lewis K. Clark 1914 - 2005 Lewis K. Clark, 91, died Friday, April 15, at home
in Ogden. He was born February 26, 1914 in Logan, Utah, the son of LuEmma Cox
and Louis Kidman. He graduated from Ogden High School and received a BS degree
in forestry from Utah State University, where he was a member of Pi Kappa
Alpha Fraternity. He retired from the United States Navy following four years
of active duty during World War II; he retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve
with the rank of Lt. Commander. He married Marian Berg in Provo, Utah,
December 18, 1938. He began his career with the U.S. Forest Service, worked as
a district ranger in Utah and Idaho, and retired from the U.S.F.S. Regional
Office Information and Education Division in 1974. He was a member of Trinity
Presbyterian Church in Ogden, El Kalah Shriners Club and Exchange Club. He is
survived by his wife, Marian, Ogden; sister, Gwen Passey, Layton; son, David
(Penny) Clark, Salt Lake City; and daughter, Barbara (Dale) James, Post Falls,
Idaho. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Brett James. A private family
service will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank Lifepath
Hospice, and a suggested memorial is the Shriners Hospital for Children,
Fairfax at Virginia Street, Salt Lake City, UT 84103. Friends are invited
Saturday, April 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at home, 4857 Ridgedale Drive in

Dansie, Loran Smith
Loran Smith Dansie "Gone to prepare a home for us." Born January 17, 1929 to
Beatrice Smith and Rulon G. Dansie. Raised in Riverton, Utah. He graduated
from Jordan High School, served an LDS mission in the Eastern States and
served in the United States Marine Corp in the Korean War. Married Donna
Carolyn Dixon March 2, 1956. Worked and taught as a homebuilder at Granite
High and later a crossing guard for Midvale Elementary. He served the
community as a member of the Lions Club, District Gov. 28-U 1990-1991,
1996-1996 as well as many other years. He headed the Youth Exchange Program
for 18 years and also chairman of the Quilt Festival to raise money for
Equipment at the Moran Eye Center. Held various church callings such as Elders
quorum Pres., counselor in the Bishopric, High Council, Division 4 Director of
athletics, plus many more. Preceded in death by parents. Survived by wife,
Donna Carolyn Dixon; brothers Marion, Darrell, Vaughn, Merlin, George and Lee;
sisters Barbara and Joyce; brothers-in-law Ron, Ed, Bill, Raymond and Larry
(deceased); children Robert (Charlene), Roger (Diane), David (Beth), Mark and
Daniel (Mindy); and 14 much loved grandchildren. He will be very missed.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 21, 2005 at 12 noon at Union 5th Ward
6770 South 500 East. Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, April 20, 5:30
to 7:30 at the Church and one hour prior to service on Thursday. Interment at
Mountain View Memorial Cemetery 3115 East 7800 South.

Esparza, Edward
Edward Esparza 1926 ~ 2005 Edward passed away on April 17, 2005 in Salt Lake
City. He was born on February 28, 1926 to Urbano and Lupe Esparza in Dividend,
Utah. He grew up in Lagos, Mexico, and returned to Utah as a young man where
he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He married Marie
Turpin and together they had five children, they were later divorced. He
married Martha Moreno in 1976 and together they had one child. Following
Edward's time in the service he worked for Denver and Rio Grande Railroad for
36 years, from which he retired. Edward is survived by his wife Martha; sons
Waso (Vickie) and Leonard; daughters Denise (Jules) Breaux, Teresa (Steve)
Martinez and Yolanda (Hyrum) Stohel; grandchildren Tina, Cyndy, Danielle,
Cesar, Robert, Clifton, Erica, Weston, Brandon, Conner, and Izabel; four
great-grand-children and three sisters and two brothers. Preceded in death by
his son, Robert and his brother, Gilbert. Funeral services will be held on
Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South
Temple. A gathering for friends and family will be held Tuesday evening from
6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary. Interment to follow services at Mt. Calvary
Cemetery.

lived. Born in Brigham City, Utah, Nov. 21, 1961. He is survived by wife,

Gainer, Estelle Marie Hahn Greenleaf
Estelle Marie Hahn Greenleaf Gainer 1923 ~ 2005 BOUNTIFUL - Our Mother passed
from this earthly life on Saturday, April 16, 2005. Estelle was born July 22,
1923 and raised and lived a good half of her life in the towns of West Haven
and Milford, Connecticut. It was there that she joined The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints as a young woman. She has loved every moment of
being a Latter-day Saint. Estelle has lived in Bountiful for the last 27
years. Married Charles A. Greenleaf in 1944, later divorced. In 1963 married
Lloyd Gainer, later divorced. Many thanks to her dear friends at the Golden
Years Senior Citizen Center; and all those in the Kimball Mill Ward for their
friendship and love. She is survived by her four sons, Ron (Frankie)
Greenleaf, Stephen Greenleaf, Roy (Karryn) Greenleaf, and Philip (Debbie)
Gainer; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, sisters, Miriam
Rhode and twin Shirley (Bill) Koznar. Funeral services will be held Wednesday,
April 20, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Kimball Mill Ward Chapel, 650 South 200 East,

Grimes, Virginia Rollins "Ginny"
Virginia Rollins Grimes "Ginny" l/25/22 ~ 4/14/05 BOUNTIFUL - Our mom and
grama Gia passed away peacefully on April 14, 2005 after a full life lived
with courage and hardship. Virginia was born on January 25, 1922 in
Minersville, Utah to James Henry and Marie Hutchings Rollins. She married
Frank B. Grimes on November 18, 1942. Later divorced. She loved and cherished
her four children who survive her: Peggy Reichardt (Dan), Frank Grimes, Pam
Sessions and Debbie Campbell; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren;
sisters, Maurine and Beth and brother Keith. Preceded in death by parents and
sisters Zoe, Janet, Glenna and Bun. During World War II mom worked as a "Rosie
the Riveter". She was a member of Bountiful Community Church. Mom enjoyed
playing the piano, baking treats for her grandkids, crocheting and growing
beautiful flowers. The family expresses special appreciation to the caring
nurses and aides at Rocky Mountain Care, which was Moms home the past six
years. A celebration of Virginia's life will held Thursday, April 21 at 2 p.m.
at Bountiful Community Church, 150 North 400 East, Bountiful with family

Hale, Nathan Donald
Nathan Donald Hale 1942 ~ 2005 Nathan Donald Hale, 63, passed away at his home
in Sandy, Utah. Nathan was born on Feb 11, 1942, in Salt Lake City, UT, the
son of Nathan Baker and June Mackintosh Hale. Nathan was a devoted husband to
his wife, Arlene and his four sons, Bret, Bart, Corey, and Chad (Michelle);
two grandchildren, Kyle and MacKenzie; two brothers and a sister. Rick, Brian
and Judy. He is preceded in death by his parents. Nathan served a mission to
the North British Mission. He held many positions as a leader and teacher in
his ward. He served on the high council in his stake. Nathan found his
greatest joy in serving his Heavenly Father and serving whom-ever he came in
contact with. He gave of his means to the betterment of others and loved to
help the missionaries. His kind and giving influence was felt by all he
touched during his life. The family will receive friends Thursday morning,
April 21st, from 10-12 noon at the LDS Ward at 586 E. 8400 So.; Sandy.

Hendrickson, Shirley Turner
Shirley Turner Hendrickson 1910 ~ 2005 Shirley Turner Hendrickson, 94, passed
away Saturday evening, April 16, 2005. She was born on August 22, 1910 in
Holden, Utah to Rawldo and Elmeda Turner. She met her sweetheart, Claude E.
Hendrickson while working at the LDS mission home. They were married in 1937
in the Salt Lake Temple. Shirley was an active member of the LDS church and
she served faithfully in many callings. She was a lifelong member of the
Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Shirley loved spending time with her friends
and family, traveling, needlework, cooking and working in her garden. Claude
and Shirley's home was always open to anyone in need and she spent countless
hours serving others. Shirley is survived by her son Lynn (Kathy);
granddaughters, Kristine (Danny) Hopes; Stephanie Hendrickson, and Lisa (Eli)
Fillmore; four great-grandchildren; and six brothers and sisters. Preceded in
death by her husband Claude, her mother and father, her sister Alta, and her
brother Ward. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, on Thursday, April
21, 2005 at the Foothill 6th Ward, 2215 E. Roosevelt Avenue (1455 So.) Friends

Ince, Charlan Hickman
Charlan Hickman Ince 1943 ~ 2005 I retired from this life April 17, 2005 after
a short fight with cancer. I came into this world on my dad's birthday,
December 5, 1943. My parents were John P. and Gwenevere Miner Hickman. I had
three siblings to fight and love. I am survived by Paul and Lila Hickman;
Susan and Michael Reesor; and Miriam and Darrell Farnsworth. I married William
Ince in 1971. We later divorced but remained good friends. I taught for 38
years in the Granite School District. I loved being a teacher. I loved books,
swimming, bowling and going to lunch with friends. I loved traveling and had
many more trips planned. I am going to miss hugging and kissing my 22 nieces
and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 21, 12 Noon, in the
Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State St. where friends may call Wednesday 6 -8 p.m.
and Thursday one hour prior to the service. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.

Jaramillo, Jose Alberto
Jose Alberto Jaramillo 1921 ~ 2005 Jose Alberto Jaramillo, 83, beloved
husband, father and grandfather, passed away April 17, 2005, surrounded by his
adoring family. He was born November 27, 1921 in El Rito, New Mexico to Pablo
and Selcia Trujillo Jaramillo. He married Maria Senadita Leyba in Canjilon,
New Mexico. She preceded him in death. Alberto married Ofelia Reyes at St.
Therese Catholic Church in Midvale, Utah on December 21, 1983. Alberto was a
member of the Catholic Church. As a Veteran of World War II, he received many
different medals of honor. He was President of Social in the state of Utah and
organized many dances. Dancing was an activity he loved to do. Survivors:
wife, Ofelia Reyes Jaramillo; children, Gilbert (Kathy) Jaramillo, Delsy
(Jake) Candelario, Paul (Terri) Jaramillo, Juan Antonio (Angelina) Jaramillo,
Danny (Joyce) Jaramillo, Steve-JuJu Jaramillo, Albert Jr. (Tony) Jaramillo,
Gloria (Ralph) Gallegos, Phillip (Abby) Jaramillo, Kathy Jaramillo, Tina
(Dennis) Jenkins, Angie Hogan, Larry Reyes, Armando Reyes; numerous
grandchildren and great-grand-children. Preceded in death by Senaedita
Jaramillo; son, Leroy A. Jaramillo; also brothers and sister. Funeral Mass
will be celebrated Friday, April 22, 2005, at 9 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima

Johnson, Donald G.
Donald G. Johnson 1927 ~ 2005 Donald Gene Johnson, age 81, passed away April
12, 2005 at home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born January 16, 1924 in Salt Lake
City, Utah son of Norman M. And Pearl Gene Tripp Johnson. Graduate of South
High School and attended the University of Utah. Veteran of the US Army,
serving during World War II in the 817th Tank Destroyer Battalion. Landed on
Utah Beach on D-Day; in the Battle of the Bulge; and the Remagen Bridge to the
Russian Front. Married Dona Roberta Pattillo March 21, 1947 in the Salt Lake
Temple. Worked in the automotive industry for 45 years and in the beekeeping
business for 20 years. Survived by his wife, Dona; six daughters, Barbara
Lorraine (Dirk) Groen, Shirlee Gene (Paul) Hansen, Marjorie Louise (Dave)
Jones, Julie Virginia (Ric) Wilcox, Diane Annette (Jim) Riley, and Karen Marie
(Marty) Cohen; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Norman,

Littlefield, Afton Shaw
Afton Shaw Littlefield 1916 ~2005 Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt
and friend passed away of natural causes on April 18, 2005. Afton was born in
Highland Boy, Ut. on October 14, 1916, the daughter of Arthur and Vera
Victoria Smith Shaw. The family moved to Draper, Ut. when Afton was in third
grade. She attended school in Draper and then graduated from Jordan High in
1935. She attended BYU for two years and then worked for the State Auditors
Office and the State Tax Commission. She married Waldo L. Littlefield on March
30, 1940. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1999. They were the parents of
three sons; Lyman (Margaret), Paul (Kathleen) and Mike (Jan). She leaves four
grandchildren: Jeffrey, Ryan, Lauren and Kellie Littlefield. She had many
interests including bowling, golfing and gardening. She enjoyed a special
relationship with her sister, Donna. They had fun going to lunch and even
going to doctor's appointments. She loved all of her nieces and nephews. She
was a life long member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities in the
wards where she lived. She is survived by her three children and their
spouses; her four grandchildren; two brothers Richard (Marine) Shaw; Robert
(Pat) Shaw and sister Donna (Lawrence) Gough. She was preceded in death by her
husband, her parents, one sister and three brothers. Funeral Services will be
held Wednesday April 20, 2005 at 12:00 noon at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel
3401 Highland Drive. Friends and family may call one hour prior to services at
the mortuary. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of

Gwen Elaine Shaw Mason McCarthy 11/27/1942~4/16/2005 Gwendolyn Elaine Shaw
Mason McCarthy, 62, died April 16, 2005. She was the "swellest Ma" in all the
land, and she wasn't crazy, no matter what they said -- even Bazooka Joe
envied her jokes. She loved music, theatre, sewing and crocheting. She was
always working on several afghans to give away as gifts, and had crocheted
hundreds of bookmarks for friends and family. She was born on November 27,
1942 in Spokane, Washington to Miriam Magers and Melvin Shaw. She was an
active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has
joined her beloved dog, Mate. Her seven children and their father, seven
grandchildren, seven dwarves, father, brother and numerous friends miss her.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 21, 2005 at 12:00 noon at the
Hunter 17th Ward Chapel, 3745 South 6400 West. Friends may call Wednesday
evening 6-8 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, and from

Meredith, Alice D. Beaumont
Alice D Beaumont Meredith 1912 ~ 2005 Our beloved mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother, Alice Meredith, 92, passed away peacefully on April 15,
2005. She was born on December 3, 1912 in Beaver, Utah to Joseph Heber
Beaumont and Georgina Boyter. As a 25-year-old waitress, she married her boss,
Arthur John Childs Meredith on May 9, 1938 in Beaver. The marriage was later
solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 23, 1961. Alice's life was a
synonym of selfless service. She was never afraid of hard work and was often
heard asking, "What can I do for you?" Working on a farm, then countless hours
at the Meredith Caf  in Beaver (where she was famous for her pies) prepared
her for her responsibilities later in their Meredith Motel: washing and
hanging clothes, cleaning rooms, and waiting on guests. She did all this in
addition to the responsibilities that came with being a wife and mother. Alice
was a gracious hostess, a wonderful cook, and a beautiful seamstress. She
spent countless hours sewing temple clothing and once won a ribbon for sewing
an exquisite beaded wedding dress for her granddaughter. Heavenly Father gave
her many gifts: she loved to paint and play the piano and organ and often
entertained her children and grandchildren with her music. She enjoyed
learning and increasing her knowledge, continuing to sign up for classes even
in her late 80's. It's no wonder that later in her life, she just couldn't sit
still! As an active member of the LDS Church, she worked for several years
(until her health would no longer allow) in three different temples: Provo,
Mt. Timpanogas, and Jordan River. In her lifespan she saw a lot of changes in
the world. She went from horse and buggy to cars and airplanes. She taught her
family to be selfless in serving others, to be patient in difficult
circumstances, and to be charitable to everyone. She is survived by seven
children, three born to both she and Art: Ralph Joseph (Beata) Meredith of
Murray, Utah; Alice G. ("Chic") McGowan of South Jordan, Utah; and Lucille
(Dale) Guest of Nampa, Idaho; and four whom she lovingly raised from her
husband's previous marriage: Alfred Junior "Jack" (Belva) Meredith of Orem,
Utah; Gladys Meredith of Las Vegas, Nevada; Arthur C. (Wilma) Meredith of
Orem, Utah; Eileen Wade of La Habra, California. These children blessed her
with 50 grandchildren, 92 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
her husband and two brothers, Leonard and William. The family expresses
sincere thanks to the caring and devoted personnel at the Woodland Park Care
Center and Odyssey Health Care for their dedication and kindness during their
mother's final days. We will miss Alice dearly and take comfort in knowing she
is truly happy and at peace. We love you, Mom. Funeral services will be held
Thursday, April 21, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parkway 3rd Ward, 10200 S. 3200

H. Marvin Miller Will be Missed On April 16, 2005, while surrounded by his
loving family, H. Marvin Miller returned to his Heavenly Father. Survived by
his Wife, Louise of over 26 years; three sons, Jerry (Lisa), Bill (Terri), and
Steve (Misty); 11 grandchildren, Jeremy, Brandon, Christopher, Ashton,
Candace, Kassi, Chancie, Bryce, (who preceded his grandpa in death), Cory,
Hunter, and Hayli; one great-grandchild, Tristen. He enjoyed the open road,
hunting, and fishing with friends and family. Hobbies include Beer and Wine

Miller Jr., Ronald "Dennis"
Ronald "Dennis" Miller, Jr. Will be missed Our much loved son, brother, uncle
and friend, Dennis, died unexpectedly at his mother's home in Salt Lake on
April 16, 2005. He was born April 4, 1961 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ronald
and Mildred Miller. He graduated from Skyline High School in 1979 and then
from the University of Utah with a degree in Recreation and Leisure. (Yes, it
is a real major!) He married Launi Berg in 1990 (later divorced). He had a
successful business career in finance and leasing. Among his friends in the
business world he was known as the "elephant hunter" because he always closed
the really big deals. He built a beautiful home in Park City where family and
friends were always welcome. He married Carol Richardson in 1998 (later
divorced). He loved water-skiing, golf, basketball, U of U sports, the Oakland
Raiders, singing and playing his guitar, James Taylor, Kenny Loggins,
houseboats at Lake Powell, parties with friends, and cooking and eating good
food. Most of all, Dennis loved his family and friends. He was the ultimate
friend and touched many lives for good. He had a gift of noticing the needs of
others and always tried to meet those needs. He was preceded in death by his
father. Survived by his mother, his older sisters, Cheri Muir (David) and Lori
Evans (Guy), and his younger brothers, Steven, Matt (Jen), Chris (Tera) and
Mark (Cristina), 17 nieces and nephews, and innumerable friends. He was an
Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Funeral services for
Dennis will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Canyon Rim
3rd Ward, 3051 South 2900 East, Salt Lake City, UT. Friends may call on

Douglas Allen Nelson 1923 ~ 2005 Douglas Allen Nelson, age 81, passed away
April 15, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born July 7, 1923 in Salt Lake
City to Walter and Audrey Nelson. He attended and graduated from Granite High
School. He served in the Army at the Philippines during World War II. He was a
member of the Mormon Church. He enjoyed golf, traveling, books, and singing.
Douglas is survived by sons, Allen (Jack), Gregory (Diane), Vaughn (Re-Nae),
Michael (Trina); sister, Jilleen Nelson; 12 grandchildren; and 13
great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by wives, Barbara, Jackie, Helen and

SSgt. Patrick Ryan Pentico "Tico" HANKSVILLE/GREEN RIVER - Patrick Ryan
Pentico, age 32, died March 31, 2005 while serving his country in the U.S. Air
Force. He was born March 30, 1973 in Phoenix, Arizona to Glen K. and Susie
Ryan Pentico. Married Melissa Dickey, May 13, 2000 at her parents home in
Orient, Washington. Patrick and his wife Melissa had been in England for 31/2
years while stationed at RAF Mildenhall, where he was a loadmaster on an
MC130H Talon II cargo plane. "Tico" was a happy person who lived life to the
fullest. He loved all kinds of music, motorcycles, traveling, and water skiing
at Hite on Lake Powell. He cared dearly for his many friends, family and the
love of his life Melissa. Patrick made a positive impact on this world and he
will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. Survived by his wife,
Melissa Pentico; England; parents, Susie and Kevin Hatch, of Hanksville, and
Glen Pentico, of San Diego, CA; siblings, Parvonae, Cortney and Cole Pentico,
all of Salt Lake City. Patrick had a warm and loving relationship with his
uncles, Donald (Donna) Ryan, of Amarillo, TX; Tommy Ryan, of Orange County,
CA; Richard (Della) Ryan, of Las Vegas, NV; Randy (Kathy) Ryan, and Michael
Ryan, both of Green River, UT; and Kelly Pentico. He was very close to his
Hatch/Ekker relatives, including Dennis and Sherry Ekker and Steven and
Carolyn Hatch and their families. Preceded in death by his step-mother, Sherry
Pentico; grandparents, George and LaVaun Pentico; and Les Ryan and Marvel

Rowley, Shirley H.
Shirley H. Rowley 1922 ~ 2005 Shirley Henderson Rowley, mother, aunt and
friend, returned to her Father in Heaven on April 15, 2005. Shirley was the
third daughter born to Alma John and Janet Smith Henderson on October 15,
1922. Shirley has been suffering from Alzheimer's for over 10 years and was
living at the Alta Infinia Health Care Center at her passing. She lived at the
Millcreek Heath Center for nine years prior. Shirley grew up and lived most of
her life in Draper, Utah on Relation Street. There she and her four sisters
worked and played on the family farm and raised chickens. Shirley spent her
life caring and giving to others. Shirley had a wonderful sense of humor right
until the end of her life. She loved shopping, singing, traveling, bowling,
golfing, dancing and raising beautiful flowers. Shirley worked for JayLynn
Studios as an award winning child photographer, for Replicolor as a
photo-retouch lab technician, and First Security Bank as a keypunch operator.
Preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lorna Moore, Lova Carter and Betty
Henderson. She is survived by her cherished son, David R. Rowley Jr.; sister,
Dorothy Judd (Tom); 13 nieces and nephews. A memorial to her life will be held
Friday, April 22, 2005, at 12 noon at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street. A
private family viewing will be held 30 minutes prior to services. Interment
will be at Draper City Cemetery. A very special thanks to the Alta Infinia

Siddoway, Nancy Lois
Nancy Lois Siddoway "Our Little Sunshine" Nancy Lois Siddoway, 67, returned to
the arms of our Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ, at the home of her
sister in Taylorsville, April 17, 2005. Born August 18, 1937, the last of six
children of Francis "Frank" Armstrong Siddoway and Mary Andersen. Nancy was
one of our Heavenly Father's special children who touched many people's lives.
She brought much joy and happiness to her family and those around her. She had
special ways of expressing her love and affection. She taught us many valuable
and important things in life. Nancy loved pizza, hamburgers and ice cream, as
well as beautiful spring flowers and music. She spent many happy hours
listening to her old time records and tapes. She especially loved primary
songs and country music. Nancy enjoyed working at the South Valley Center and
the TTT Center. She participated in the Special Olympics and other activities.
Nancy was the oldest living person with Down's Syndrome. We will miss her
teasing, laughing and the special songs she sang to us. We laughed a lot
together and had fun at our family picnics, barbeques and birthday parties.
She is survived by her brothers, Francis (Merlene) Siddoway and Ben Siddoway;
sister, Edna Allison; and special cousin, Daryle Tatom. She was preceded in
death by her parents; brother, Dan; sister, Ellen; sisters-in-law, Erma and
Beryl; brother-in-law, Jimmy Allison; nephews, Robert Allison and Eddie
Siddoway whom are waiting anxiously to welcome her home. Special thanks to
those at the West Jordan Care Center for all the love and care they gave our
sister while she lived there, Life Path Hospice, as well as all the leaders
and friends from the Heritage 5th Branch for your love and concern. We look

Sharlee May Ranck Corner Spader 2/9/72 ~ 4/16/05 Wife, mother, daughter,
sister, aunt and friend, Shar left us peacefully in the night while she slept.
Shar loved music, to dance, the Ranch, nice expensive "things", baby pink,
sterling silver and angels. Shar loved her husband, her two boys and three
step-children with all her heart. Also her family and especially her dad who
never gave up and always did so much for her. Most important to Shar was her
"little" family of seven, which she and Shawn worked very hard at bringing
together. "She kept us strong". Shar will be forever missed by all, mostly her
husband... "She is my forever love." She said, "He makes me laugh". Shar is
survived by her husband, Shawn Spader; two sons, Dexter and Reggie (her
angels); three step-children, Shalyssa, Jaidon and Shayanna; her parents, Mike
and Jeanne Ranck; two sisters, Jayme and Amanda; one brother, Elder Johnny
Ranck; nieces and nephews, Tad, Mykah, Miles, Averie, Ellie, Skip, Grace and
"she loved my Bo"; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She's preceded in death

Tisdale, Gwendolyn H.
Gwendolyn H. Tisdale 1930 ~ 2005 Our beloved mother, grandma, sister, aunt and
friend, Gwendolyn Harmon Tisdale, passed away April 18, 2005 after a long
struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Gwen was born on March 14, 1930 in Price,
Utah to John Harold and Winnie Ethlynn Bartlett Harmon. She was married May 1,
1954 to William Edward Tisdale, later divorced. Gwen loved the travel that
came from being a military wife and was always willing to try something new.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she held
numerous callings in wards throughout the country. She shared her love of
music with many as a ward chorister and choir director. She also loved being
outdoors perfecting her considerable gardening skills. Her greatest joy came
from being with her family and caring for her three grandchildren. She is
survived by her daughter Karen (Richard) Barg, Bel Air, MD; son Bill (Julie)
Tisdale, Murray; and grandchildren Daniel and Alice Tisdale and Matthew Barg;
siblings, Kathryn (Fred) Lambert, Robert (Merlynn) Harmon and Sue Harmon.

Gary Neves Trolson 1937 ~ 2005 Gary Neves Trolson, 67, passed away April 17,
2005 in West Valley City, Utah. Born December 18, 1937 in Logan, Utah. Married
Elna Jane Yeates July 5, 1954 in Nibley, Utah. He was a master mechanic,
always willing to share his knowledge with others. He retired from Rowley's
Texaco. He was a family man who enjoyed classic cars, hunting, fishing,
waterskiing and going to Wendover. Survived by wife, Elna; children: Steven
(Suzanne), Sheila, Richard (Sheila), Kent (Charlene); grandsons: Eric,
Nicholas, Jason (serving an LDS mission in Nicaragua), Brandon, Travis Trolson
and Jeremy Montoya; granddaughters: Holly (Jurney) Ledesma, Heather and Nicole
Montoya, Jennifer, Heidi and Desiree Trolson; great-grandsons: Cameron and
Brady Ledesma, Joseph "JoJo" Toiaivao; mother-in-law, Leona Yeates; and
numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by mother, Alene
Trolson; son, Curtis; beloved grandmothers, Emmaline Clifford and Maggie
Neves. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at

Wood, Julia Catherine Hettel
Julia Catherine Hettel Wood 1919 ~ 2005 Our mother, grandmother, and friend,
Julia Catherine Hettel Wood, passed away April 16, 2005 in Bountiful, Utah.
Julia was born March 18, 1919 in Corning, Arkansas to Ambrose and Ora Lee
Rider. She graduated from Corning High School in 1938. She then moved to Los
Angeles, California and graduated from beauty school. While living in the Los
Angeles area she met and married Marlowe Lyndon Wood. They were married in Los
Angeles January 3, 1943 and sealed in the Logan Temple in December 1943. For
many years Julia served faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints. She worked many years in the Salt Lake Temple and served in the Relief
Society and Primary auxiliary organizations. Julia loved to cook and bake.
Many people were the recipients of her peanut brittle. She loved to sew and
tackled many projects including upholstery and quilting. She is survived by
four children, Judy Lynne (Lary) Talbot, Greg (Carol) Wood, Dale Wood, Randy
(LuAnn) Wood; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded
in death by her husband, and her parents. Funeral services will be held 11
a.m. Wednesday April 20, 2005 at Oakridge 7th Ward, 1282 West 1875 North
Kaysville, Utah. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Russon
Brothers Mortuary at 295 North Main, in Bountiful, Utah as well as one hour
prior to the services at the church. Internment will be in the Bountiful City
