Atwater, Bert Bert Atwater 1923 ~ 2005 FARMINGTON - Bert Atwater, 82, died Saturday, December 17, 2005 at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Utah of natural causes. He was born April 16, 1923 to Louise Pabst and Bert Atwater, Sr. in Salt Lake City, Utah. He served in the armed forces as a member of the O.S.S. in Washington, D.C. during World War II, after which he attended the University of Utah where he graduated with honors in 1948. He married Ruth Elaine Hay August 24, 1948. He worked for U & I Sugar Company as an agronomist for many years and founded Heritage Furniture Restoration with his son, Jay, in 1979. Bert loved the out of doors and spent many happy hours hunting wild mushrooms. He was very proud of his three children, 13 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his only sister, Majorie Atwater Scalley. He is survived by he wife, Ruth of Farmington; children, Kathryn (Steven) Randall of Layton, Jay (Lorinda) of Fruit Heights, and Mary Jane (Christopher) Guymon of Frankfort, Illinois. Funeral services will be held Wed-nesday, December 21, 2005, 11 a.m. at the Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main. Caputo, Jean Keen Jean Keen Caputo 11/21/23 ~ 12/15/05 Today we lost the heart of our big family. Jean was born November 21, 1923 to Albert Keen and Eva May Miller, in Salt Lake City, UT. On June 1, 1941, Jean married the love of her life, Eugene Antonio Caputo. Eugene preceded her in death May 14, 1958, leaving her to raise their five children, Bonnie Lucero, Joe Caputo, Toni (Phil) Maez, Joan (Jack) Cornish, and Danny (Gwyn) Caputo. She worked as a waitress for over 40 years. Mom loved cooking spaghetti for everyone - family, friends, neighbors. She loved to go to Mesquite and play slots. She was an avid skater and major bowler in her youth. You could find her out in her perfect yard pulling the last weed, cleaning house or on her couch watching tennis and stock car racing. She even rode in the pace car this past year. She is survived by her five children; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grand-children; sisters, Jessie Mangum and Joyce Wingerter; sister-in-law, Violet Cordova; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter Little Toni and numerous brothers and sisters. She touched the lives of many and those who knew her, loved her dearly. We will forever miss our mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grand-mother, friend, our angel. We will keep her close to our hearts as she is in heaven watching each and every one of us. De La Mare, Byron Theo Byron Theo De La Mare 1919 ~ 2005 To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: A time to weep, a time to laugh, a time to mourn, and a time to dance. Ecclesiastes 3:1, 4. Byron De La Mare passed away peacefully at the Rocky Mountain Care Center in Tooele, Utah December 16, 2005. Byron was born in Salt Lake City February 25, 1919 to Theo George De La Mare and Edna Elison De La Mare. He graduated from Tooele High School in 1938 and served in the United States Air Force 1942-1946. While stationed in El Paso, Texas, he met and married his sweetheart, Lillian Godfroy of Peru, Indiana March 11, 1944. He and Lillian returned to Tooele were Byron worked at the International Smelting and Refining Company for about 28 years, primarily in the pipe shop. They had one son, Richard, who passed away in July 1992. Lillian passed away Nov. 5, 1985. Byron married again March 12, 1988 to Joy Frailey of Tooele. They were married for 12 years before Joy passed away April 5, 2000. Byron was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was an avid golfer until he suffered a stroke in July 2004, and he enjoyed being around his numerous friends and family. Byron is survived by one brother Harold (Carolyn) De La Mare of Houston, Texas; daughter-in-law, Brenda Park De La Mare; two grandchildren, Vickie De La Mare, and Marie (Richard) Babcock; and three great-grandchildren. From the Frailey marriage Byron is survived by one stepson, Kenneth (Audrey) Frailey; and two stepdaughters, Kathy Ryan (Brent McCulley) and Sandra (James) Cady; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchil-dren. Byron was a devoted father and grandfather and loved being with his family. His two stepdaughters, Audrey Frailey and Kathy Ryan, and whom Byron called his "good friend," Brent McCulley, gave him daily loving care at the Care Center from the time of his stroke until his passing. Byron was very appreciative of their love and concern for him. He also appreciated the many friends who visited him on a regular basis. The De La Mare and Frailey families are very grateful for the staff at the Rocky Mountain Care Center who provided such good services in Byron's behalf. Funeral services will be held at the Tooele 5th Ward chapel, 196 N. Pinehurst Ave, Wednesday, the 21st of December at 11 a.m. Viewings will be held at the Tate Mortuary the prior evening from 6-8 p.m. and 9:30-10:30 a.m. the day of the funeral. Entwistle, George Patrick George Patrick Entwistle 11/10/26 ~ 12/17/05 George Patrick Entwistle was born in Utica, NY November 10, 1926 the eldest of four sons born to George Washington Entwistle and Florence Gertrude Flynn Entwistle. He was educated in Ilion and Frankfort, NY and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1944. He attended Utica College. June 18, 1949 he married the love of his life, Rita Ann Horn, and together they had six children. He is survived by Rita; and their children, Mrs. Patricia J. (John) Carney, Ilion, NY, Mr. George P. (Georgia) Entwistle, Chenango Bridge, NY, Mrs. Karen E. (Ronald) Urtz, Ilion, NY, Mr. William M. (Annie) Entwistle, Sandy, Utah, Mrs. Eileen (Daniel) Entwistle-Smith of Sandy, Utah, and Mrs. Judith E. (Gregory) Vieira of Deerfield Beach, Florida. Mr. Entwistle is also survived by 13 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his brother, Robert (Alma) Entwistle of Litchfield, NY; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dennis (1967) and Thomas (1995). Mr. Entwistle's early years were spent as a dairy farmer in upstate New York and it was there that he learned to love hard work. Later he became a journeyman toolmaker with the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company. He joined Remington Rand (later Sperry Corporation), February 1957 in Utica NY and was transferred to Sperry's Salt Lake City operations in February 1977 as Personnel Manager. His last position with Unisys Corporation (formerly Sperry) was Director of Resources Management from which he retired in May 1990. George was a lifetime Roman Catholic, a member and Eucharistic Minister of St. Thomas More Parish. He was a 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus serving as Deputy Grand Knight of the Ilion, NY council. He was a man of great strength and courage; love and devotion; insight and wisdom; humility and beauty. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him. Harrington, Chloe Poulter Chloe Poulter Harrington 5/27/20 ~ 12/15/05 Our dearly loved mother, grandmother, and friend, left us to join her partner in life of 55 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gregory Harrington; son, Brent; granddaughter, Tessa Lyn. Chloe is survived by her son, Jeffrey and Barbara Harrington; daughter, Jolynn and Danny Lopez; grandchildren, Michael Ann, Greg and Kris Harrington, Stephanie and Gary Shiner, Shan Lopez; great-grand-children, Gage, Tyler, Zack, Kiley Harrington, Julian Lopez, Victory, Christina, Lindsey, Allisha Shiner; mom's dear friends, Karen and Lee Johnson, and the Lopez family. Chloe was born to Thomas and Ruby Poulter May 27, 1920 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was raised in Logan, Utah where Chloe attended school and college at Utah State. Chloe worked at Hill Air Force Base for many years; later retiring. Mom and Dad moved to Elko, Nevada where they made many dear friends. Mom later came back to Salt Lake to make a home here with her children and grandchildren. Mom was a very special lady and will be greatly missed. Keller, LeRoy Scott LeRoy Scott Keller 1918 ~ 2005 LeRoy Scott Keller, age 87, died Thursday, December 15, 2005 in Kalispell MT. Served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a Captain. Was awarded Air Medal, Battle Stars and Campaign Awards. Flew for Frontier Airlines as Chief Pilot, SLC, UT then promoted to V. P., Flight Operations, Denver, CO. Retired from Frontier Airlines in 1978 after 32 years. Joined Stockhill Aviation as Chief Pilot and was an FAA examiner in Kalispell, MT. At the age of 63, Scott became a corporate pilot, flying for an additional 20 years. His flight hours exceeded 40,000. Born October 8, 1918 in Logan, UT to LeRoy Franklin and Sarah Scott Keller. Attended Utah State Agriculture College and entered the United States Army Air Corp in 1943. Four children by previous marriages, Martin Banks, Sue Banks (deceased), LeRoy Scott Keller II, and Robert Kay Keller. Married Marlene C Edwards, 1981. They were looking forward to celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. Preceded in death by his parents; daughter; and sisters, Kathryn and Beth. Survived by wife, Marlene; sons, Scott (Mariah) and Rob (Nora); five grandchildren, Scott III, Kathryn, Carrie, Caleb, and Daniel; stepchildren, Montana, Shawna Pickens, Michael Pickens, Krista Pickens (Loni DeLand); grandchildren, Hollie Cederlof, Joshua Cederlof (Sarah), Jacob Bleak, Sarah Bailey, Rachael DeLand; great-grand-child, Aria Cederlof, Salt Lake City, sisters, LaRee Rogers (Bob), Ukiah, CA and Ruth Shegrud (Weldon), Farmington, UT. Scott was a true gentle man who treated people fairly and with respect. He had the rare ability to make us all feel better about ourselves. Nielson passed away December 15, 2005 after lingering complications from surgery. Born April 21, 1935 to Clara and Maynard Nielson (deceased). He had one brother, Spencer Nielson (deceased). He was raised in Bluffdale, Utah and attended Jordan High School. Blaine was a gentleman. He always treated everyone with respect, regardless of their station in life. He could always be counted on for a kind word or a good dirty joke. He had a passion for the outdoors. He loved to hunt, fish, and camp with friends and family. He was employed with United Airlines until he was no longer able to work. He married Carol Nielsen and from that union he is survived by a son, Scott Lord of Arizona. Later divorced, he met and married Rosalie Sherrill Nielson (deceased) and they had four children, Blaine Jr., Rachel (Kelly) Farrington, Mat (Cindy) Nielson, and Clint Nielson. The family would like to thank Collen Patten, Anne's Nursing Home and Fairview Care Center for the loving care and support of Blaine for all these years. A private family memorial will be conducted. Shepherd 1923 ~ 2005 MAGNA/ROOSEVELT - Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Lottie Catherine Babcock Shepherd, 82, passed away December 17, 2005 in Magna, Utah. She was born June 5, 1923 in Roosevelt, Utah to William Virgil and Agnes May Redmond Babcock. She married John Walter "Jack" Shepherd June 15, 1941 in Roosevelt; he died October 6, 1993. Lottie was a member of the LDS Church and served in many callings. She loved music and was an accomplished singer in several choirs. She was a hard worker, served others endlessly, and loved to bake and share with everyone. Survived by her children, Janet (Donald) Filion, Johnny (Mary Louise) Shepherd, and Sidonia Kim (Raymond) White; 25 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and son-in-laws, Leland Vincent and Thomas Staniszewski. He was born September 21, 1914 to parents David H. and Annie Sorenson Williams in Emery, Utah. He married LaVona Mortensen November 7, 1937. He was a devoted husband and a friend to many. He was a member of the LDS Church and served in many callings. He and LaVona served a mission to the Visitors' Center in Palmyra, New York. He was preceded in death by two sons, Philip and Roger. He is survived by wife; two daughters, Vicki Preece (Stuart) and Jill Leonard (Tony); son, Dennis (Deann); daughter-in-law, Geri Williams; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
