Allred, Owen Arthur
Owen Arthur Allred 1914 ~ 2005 Owen Arthur Allred died peacefully at home in
Bluffdale on February 14. Owen was born to Byron Harvey Allred Jr. and Mary
Evelyn Clark on Jan 15, 1914 in Blackfoot, Idaho. He was preceded in death by
five brothers and four sisters, leaving his brother Clarence Eugene Allred as
the only living sibling. Owen retired after 31 years of service with Utah Oil
Company (American Oil) in 1976. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid
marksman. He served two years in the CCC camps in Idaho and worked for
Remington Arms Company during World War II. Owen's greatest love was service
to his God and his fellow men. He leaves behind a large posterity, including
children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2005, 12:00 p.m. at
Rocky Ridge Chapel (North of Mona, Utah). A viewing will be held Friday,
February 18 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East
10600 South in Sandy and on Saturday from 8:30-11:00 a.m. at the Rocky Ridge
Chapel. Interment Taylorsville Cemetery.

Anderson, Agnes
Agnes Anderson 1912 ~ 2005 Agnes Arletta Phillips Anderson, age 92, died Feb.
15, 2005 at the home of her daughter. Born Aug. 3, 1912 to Levi Augustus and
Matilda Gurney Phillips in Lehi, Utah. Married Hyrum Dale Anderson, Mar. 20,
1934 in the Salt Lake Temple. Four children were born to this union: Phillip
Dale (Gail); Lorraine (Lee) Openshaw; Rosalie (Robert) Larkin; and Neil Levi;
11 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Gave special care to her handicapped son, Neil, for 20 years. Member of LDS
Church. Served faithfully in many Church positions. Served a mission with her
husband in the Independence, Missouri Visitor's Center. Temple worker for 10
years. Preceded in death by her husband, Dale; two children, Rosalie and Neil;
and two great-grandchildren, Mark and Elizabeth West. Survived by two
children: Phillip, Lorraine and sister, Freda (Nyal) Fletcher. Funeral
services will be held Saturday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. in the Midvalley Seventh
Ward Chapel, 1211 East 7800 South. Friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m. at Larkin
Mortuary, 260 East South Temple and at the ward one hour prior to service.
Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.

Andrus, Shawna Colleen Salazar
Shawna Colleen Salazar Andrus 9/30/1979 ~ 2/6/2005 Our precious little
Patches, Shawna Colleen Salazar Andrus returned to the loving arms of her
Father in Heaven on Sunday, February 6, 2005, due to injuries sustained in a
tragic automobile accident in Flagstaff, Arizona. She was born on Sunday,
September 30, 1979, to Michael Shawn and Colleen Jayne Smith Salazar at St.
Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Shawna, and the love of her life,
Joshua Brock Andrus, celebrated their first wedding anniversary on August 30,
2004. Shawna graduated from Taylorsville High School in 1998, and was employed
at Discover Card. Shawna and Joshua enjoyed spending time with their fat cat,
Tonto. Shawna will be remembered as an uncomplicated and perfect person. She
loved everything purple and collected anything related to frogs. Shawna was a
strong willed woman. She was charming and loved making new friends. Shawna's
dream was to become a police officer, following in the footsteps of her Uncle
John. Shawna is survived by her devoted husband Joshua, her parents, Mike and
Colleen, brothers and sisters, Melissa (Jim Ranke-Joshua's best friend),
Michael Jr., Angela, John, and Patrick. She is also survived by her
father-in-law Brock Andrus, mother-in-law Sherry, Joshua's sister Lexi, as
well as her grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Shawna was
preceded in death by her Uncle Joel and Aunt Carmen. In order to provide
Joshua sufficient time to recover from his injuries and to be in attendance,
the Vigil Service will be held Sunday, February 20, 2005, at 7:00 p.m. Funeral
Mass will be celebrated Monday, February 21, 2005, at 11 a.m. All services
will be held at St. John the Baptist Parish, 300 East 11800 South, Draper,
Utah. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt

like to express our deep appreciation for the overwhelming love and support we
have been receiving at this most tragic time. Shawna will be immeasurably

Baumgardner, George
George L. Baumgardner 7/5/1928 ~ 2/15/2005 George passed away February 15,
2005. He married Betty Jane Bryan on July 15, 1950 and they were together 44
years. When she passed away nearly 11 years ago he said he felt like he had
lost his best friend. George was a veteran of the Korean war, serving in the
Alaskan Territory. He retired from Consolidated Freightways in 1990 after, he
enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing. Survived by his children Jeffery W.
Baumgardner; Jean (Mel) Aldous and Loveit Baumgardner (Paul Pitt), ten
grandchildren, four great-grand children, his sister, Ruth (Philip) West and
several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents and
brothers. "...and then there was the time Dad ate the Sara Lee brownies..."
Remember Dad, brownie stories follow you, even into heaven. We love you and

Boulter, Roene
Roene Skinner Boulter 1910 ~ 2005 Roene Skinner Boulter passed away February
11, 2005 in Draper, Utah. She was born August 30, 1910 in Beaver, Utah to Ezra
Yates Skinner and Rena Elmira Bird. She married Vance James "Vee" Boulter
March 21, 1928 later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had
five children. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in a
number of callings. Roene was a very special lady who loved, and was loved, by
everyone. She was always very thoughtful, and cared for others. Mother, what a
blessing you have been in the lives of your family, as well as everyone you
shared your love and charity with. Survived by sons Lynn James, Howard E. and
William V. Boulter, daughter Arlene Sperry; 17 grandchildren, 42
great-grandchildren, and 13 great great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by
her parents, husband Vee, son Donald, two sisters and a brother. Funeral
services will be held Saturday, February 19, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at
Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State St., where friends may call from
10-10:45 a.m. Interment Salt Lake City Cemetery.

Brooks, Ruth Burch
Ruth Burch Brooks 1922 ~ 2005 On Valentines Day, February 14, 2005, Ruth
Brooks peacefully passed away at the age of 82, joining her sweetheart of 63
years. Ruth was born April 19, 1922 in Provo, Utah to Claudis Hilton Burch and
Annie Ferguson Burch. She grew up in Provo, Pleasant Grove and finally settled
in American Fork where she graduated from American Fork High School. On
September 26, 1941 she married her sweetheart, Joey P. Brooks, their marriage
was later solemnized in the St. George Temple on July 18, 1964. She found
great joy in spending time with her family, making quilts, gardening,
crocheting and helping to take care of many great grandchildren at least once
a week. Her many talents were shared with family, friends and many others,
including her projects for the Humanitarian Services. All who knew her
appreciated and loved her and were blessed to know her. She was a member of
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many
positions. She has truly touched the lives of all with whom she came in
contact, especially her family, the unconditional love and compassion that she
gave was a blessing to all. Ruth is survived by her children, Kent (Pat) of
Las Vegas; Bill (Sharon) of Salt Lake City and Mary Jo Greenwood (Mike) of
American Fork; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grand-children; sisters Vivian
Liljegren of Provo; Barbara Douglas of American Fork; brothers, Sterling Burch
of Pleasant Grove; Stanley Burch of American Fork; and a sister-in-law Flora
Gurney of Lehi. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son
Craig D. Brooks and nine brothers and sisters, Max, Merrill, Douglas, Mary,
Fern, Bessie, Leone, Jenny and Helen. The family wishes to express their
sincere thanks to the wonderful people at Berkshire and Alpine Valley Care
Centers for the excellent care that was provided for her. Funeral services
will be held Sat., Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. in the American Fork West Stake,
Pacific Drive Ward, 700 W. 500 No. Friends and family may call at the Anderson
and Sons Mortuary, 49 E. 100 N., American Fork, Fri. Feb. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Brower, Joyce Jensine Bruening
Joyce Jensine Bruening Brower 1935 ~ 2005 Joyce Jensine Bruening Brower
returned to her loving Heavenly Father on February 15, 2005. She was born
September 7, 1935 to Albert John Bruening and Gerturde Ferndine Thorup. She
lived and worked hard for her family, and was proud that she raised seven
children. She is survived by her children, Jeff (Debbie), Cynthia Blackburn
(David), Keith (Lynette), Gary (Cheryl), Phillip (Kim), Matthew (Sandy), Ralph
(Lisa); 25 grandchildren, seven siblings, Robert (Beverly), Beverly Hileman
(Doug), Afton Hanni, Wayne (Sylvia), Darold (Sandra), Milton (Linda), and
Marsha Weatherhead (David). Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 18,
2005, 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 East 7800 South, with
interment to follow. Family and friends may call for visitation one hour prior
to services. The family would like to express their thanks to neighbors and
friends for all the help over the years. Also to Hospice Alliance and Federal
Heights nursing and rehab, for the excellent care given.

Clark, Beulah Layne Robertson
Beulah Layne Robertson Clark BEA Beulah R. Clark was born December 4, 1912 in
Fountain Green, Utah, one of eight children of David Abraham and Elizabeth
Flavilla Coombs Robertson. Bea, a loving example of life-long service to
others, passed away February 13, 2005. She spent her youth and teenage years
in Provo, graduated from Provo High School and completed beautician school
prior to marrying Boyce Rich Clark on August 31, 1934 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Boyce preceded her in death on December 22, 1988. Prior to founding Clark Tank
Lines with her husband in 1936 Bea owned a beauty shop in Morgan, Utah. Once
the Tank Lines got established in Ogden, Bea became the bookkeeper, working
diligently with her husband until the birth of their second son. She was a
proud, gentle and loving mother, raising four sons as well as a welcomed,
daughter, Wendy, from England. Bea always supported her family in their
numerous sports, academics, careers and sometimes wild pursuits, and was never
timid in expressing her own opinion. She never stopped being a devoted wife
and mother, but always found time for civic and community involvement, serving
in numerous organizations and board positions including: President Utah Motor
Transport, founding member of Utah Girls Village, President Rose Ramblers,
PTA, and various callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Bea is survived by sons: Daniel Wallace (Bobbyanne), David John (Marilyn),
William Robertson (Leah); Wendy Hemmingway (Richard); 10 grandchildren; four
great-grand-children and sister Ruth Boulden. Preceded in death by husband
Boyce R. Clark and son B. Robert Clark. Funeral services will be held at 1:00
p.m. Friday, February 19, 2005 at Lake hills Memorial, 10055 S. State, Sandy
with a viewing prior to the services from 11:45 to 12:45 p.m.

DeLyser, Angela Quinney
Angela Quinney DeLyser 1979 ~ 2005 Angie Quinney DeLyser passed away February
5, 2005 after a two-year fight with breast cancer. Angie was born in Caldwell,
Idaho September 25, 1979. Angie was raised in Caldwell, Idaho; St. Joseph,
Michigan; and Fairport, New York where she spent most of her elementary and
middle school years, She completed high school in Boise, Idaho and at Jordan
High in Sandy. Angie is survived by her husband Jeremy DeLyser of Fairport,
New York where they lived following their marriage in May 2004; and by her
parents Phillip and Nancy Quinney, her sisters Debbie and Rachael, and
brothers Benjamin (Angela) and Daniel, and grandfather Orville Hancock.
Angie's family would like to thank the medical professionals who cared for and
treated Angie at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City; and at
Rochester General and Strong Memorial Hospitals in Rochester, New York. A
memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2005 at the
Oquirrh 9th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 6567 S
Wakefield Way (6035 W) West Valley City, UT. She is interred in Pittsford, NY.

Duncan, William
William E Duncan 1939 ~ 2005 William E. Duncan, age 65, passed away peacefully
February 8, 2005 after a long struggle from complications of diabetes. Bill
was born July 17, 1939 in Whigham, Georgia to John Floyd and Clyda Worn
Duncan. He grew up in Georgia and was sent to Alaska after enlisting in the
military. It was there he married Virginia Ruesink in 1962 and later had three
children. After leaving the military he joined an engineering firm in Alaska.
His firm relocated him to Salt Lake City in 1981. He was an active member of
the Christ United Methodist Church in Salt Lake City. He loved his family,
Georgia, reading, fishing and his remote control. He will be dearly missed by
his family and friends but we are glad to know that he is no longer in pain.
Survived by his wife Ginny; children Michael, Karen and Laurie; grandchildren
Nick, Drew, Kelli, Parker, Gabrielle and Conner; and brother Myron Prevatte.
Special thanks to his medical providers for their compassionate care. Funeral
services were held Sunday, February 13, 2005 at the Whigham United Methodist
Church in Whigham, Georgia. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist
Church or the American Diabetes Association.

Fisher, Eula
Eula Fern Jenson Fisher 1909 ~ 2005 Our beloved mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother, Eula Fern Jenson Fisher passed away peacefully, her
children around her, on February 14, 2005. Eula was born October 17, 1909 to
James William Jenson and Nancy Evalyn Benson. Eldest of five children, Eula's
mother died when Eula was only 10 years old. Eula was independent at an early
age. She put herself through Stevens Henager Business College and began her
career with Utah Oil Co. She married Evan F. Fisher on August 5, 1939. Their
marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Evan died Dec. 2, 1967.
A member of the LDS Church, Eula served in many capacities, but especially
loved working with young women. She was also a foster mother to several
special children. Eula was a bookkeeper for Wilkinson Buick Co. for many years
and later worked for the Davis County Attorney's office as a legal secretary
until her retirement. She then went to work at Sperry Univac for several
years. Eula loved traveling and took great delight in seeing many countries of
the world. She belonged to the Wasatch Mountain Hiking Club and loved to tell
about being on the tops of many of the Wasatch Mountains. She was a long-time
member of the Associated Career Women and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers,
Josephine Wood Naylor Camp, teaching the lessons for many years. She had a
love for pioneer history and spent many hours doing family history. She grew
beautiful roses and was an excellent gardener, planting and growing many
different kinds of trees, fruits and berries. Survived by her children: James
Robert Fisher, Nancy J. Comarell (James), L. Jayne Leigh and daughter-in-law,
DeLoras Fisher. Also survived by sister-in-law Afton Jenson. Preceded in death
by a son Evan F. Fisher, Jr. (DeLoras) and daughter, Pauline Fisher. She
leaves behind 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. The family wishes
to thank Life Care Center of Bountiful and Vista Care for their loving care of
Eula. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday February 18, 2005 at Bountiful
Tabernacle, 51 S. Main. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday Feb. 17th at
Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. at the

Foil Sr., Charles
Charles Herman (Skip) Foil 1925 ~ 2005 Charles Herman (Skip) Foil, Sr. was a
man who loved his god, his country, and his family. Skip brought joy into
everyone's life from the moment of his birth on January 2, 1925 in
Winston-Salem, NC until his death on February 14, 2005. Skip was born to Anna
Wilhelmina Pulfrich and Roger Robert Foil, but was raised by his loving and
kind stepfather, Pete Pearson, of whom he always thought of as dad. He always
loved his home of Charleston, SC and longed to return there. Skip was married
to his loving and devoted wife, Aldwyth (Steve) Foil for 57 precious years.
Together Skip and Aldwyth brought forth in this world and raised a loving
family: Vickie (Brent) Wallace, Wendy (Rich) Burke, Charles (Jing) Foil,
Elayne (Jay) Broadhead, and Veldon (Brenda) Foil. He cherished his two
surviving sisters: Midget Nesbit and Norma Knight. And he loved his family
which grew to include 19 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. He never
forgot those who went before him: brothers: Carson and Bernard Foil; sister:
Mary Ann Ashfield; grandson: Veldon Gene Foil. Our husband and father loved
life and took pleasure in all the little things God had blessed him with. He
took every opportunity to fish and he found lots of opportunities. He adored
flowers and gardening, travel, and coin collecting. He had a special place in
his heart for his "little redhead" Star, his dog. He loved his God and served
as a Deacon in the Pleasant Grove First Baptist Church. He loved his country
and served it proudly as a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 18, 2005 in the
Battle Creek 2nd Ward (1250 East 200 S.) in Pleasant Grove. A viewing at the
Church will precede the funeral beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow
at Provo City Cemetery. Funeral services entrusted to SereniCare. The family
extends a Special Thanks to Berkshire Rehab & Comfort Care and Vista Care
Hospice and to all those who have given such personal care and kindness to
Skip.

Galarneau, Leo Duane
Leo Duane Galarneau 1922 ~ 2005 Leo Duane Galarneau peacefully passed away on
February 14, 2005, surrounded by loved ones. He was born the 6th of 10
children, to Nathaniel and Jessie (Sypher) Galarneau Nov. 28, 1922 in the
small town of Turin, New York. He is survived by his wife June Galarneau,
daughters Diana and Gail Galarneau, sons Nathaniel (Candice) and Michael
(Wendy) Galarneau, grandsons Dene Galarneau and Matthew Morrison,
step-daughters Sharon Eng and Mary McIntosh and granddaughter Leah Vassau. He
is also survived by sisters Gwendie Whittlesey, Betty Fitgerald, Bernice
Hoffman, Wanita (Richard) Jones and brother Don (Bonnie) Galarneau. He follows
brother Grant, Cleon, Bruce and sister Leola Jackson in death. Leo was born to
tenant dairy farmers in upstate New York, where he worked hard daily to milk
the cows and maintain the farm, with the help of the huge work horses, along
side his parents and siblings. He was driven to learn all he could and move
beyond the small towns of New York State. He never missed a day of school,
even though he was up early for his chores and had to walk nearly five miles
each way in the cold winters of the northeast. He enlisted in the United
States Marine Corps in 1942 and joined his older brother Grant in World War
II. His brother would be killed in battle. Leo learned that art of photography
while enlisted and chronicled battles and history in World War II. He went to
Dallas, Texas after World War II to study photography, where he met and
married his lovely wife, June (Beach) Galarneau and became a father to the
first of his four children. He moved his family to Dunkirk, New York in 1949,
where he began a 35 year career as a Boilermaker, building power plants
throughout the country for Combustion Engineering (CE). He met and married his
2nd wife, Pearl Hutchinson, in Fresno, CA in 1970. They made their home in
Billings, MT. When Pearl died, in 1985, he and his first wife, June,
remarried. Leo retired from the work that meant so much to him in 1988. He and
June moved to Spokane, WA for six years, moved to Pocatello, ID moved to
Billings, MT and then settled in St. George, UT, where he enjoyed his twilight
years in the beautiful red hills. He recently moved back to Salt Lake City for
the support of his family. May he be at peace with his loving canine
companion, Fritz, in their favorite easy chair. Funeral Service will be Friday
Feb. 18, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at Memorial Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East, Murray,
Utah. Friends and family may visit Thursday, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and
one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be at Murray City
Cemetery, 5490 South Vine Street, Murray, Utah.

Glasson, Leda Cameron "Peggy"
Leda "Peggy" Cameron Glasson 1925 ~ 2005 Leda "Peggy" Cameron Glasson passed
away February 15, 2005 from complications following an Auto Pedestrian
Accident. Leda was born September 6, 1925 in Kanab, Utah to John Ensign and
Harriet Broadbent Riggs. Married, Ralph Cameron July 9, 1945 in Flagstaff,
Arizona they later divorced. Married, Robert Glasson March 22, 1953 in Elko,
Nevada. Robert died September 25, 1980. Leda was a bookkeeper for Reul's Photo
Blue for almost 60 years. She was reared and educated in Kanab, graduating
from Kanab High School. Served as class president her sophomore year (1943).
Received her Certified Nursing Certificate from Kanab Hospital. Leda belonged
to the Lutheran Church. She greatly enjoyed reading mystery novels and novels
of the American southwest. She was an avid Basketball Fan and played
basketball for Kanab High School. Leda was loved and will be greatly missed by
her family and her second family at Reul's Photo Blue. Surviving members of
her family include her son Kean Roy Cameron of Salt Lake City; daughters Laura
Cameron of Castle Valley, Utah; Patti Tabish of Heber, Utah; son in law
Michael Peck also of Castle Valley; and her brother Don Riggs of Kanab.
Preceding her in death are her grandson Todd Harvey; her brother, Burns; and
her sister Vivian. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, February 19, 2005
at 11:00 a.m. at the Garner Funeral Home 1001 11th Avenue Salt Lake City,
Utah. Graveside services will be held at a later date in the springtime at the
Kanab Cemetery. Directors, Garner Funeral Home.

Groscost, Kathleen Sharp
Kathleen Sharp Groscost 1938 ~ 2005 Kathleen Sharp Groscost, a loving wife,
mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to many passed away
on Feb. 15, 2005 after a courageous and valiant battle with ALS. Born Aug. 5,
1938 in Tooele, Utah, to William Harold Sharp and Mary Smith. She grew up in
Tooele and had a happy childhood. She attended schools in Tooele where she
enjoyed learning and excelled in many activities. She met Jim Groscost and
enjoyed church and school functions together. They were married Oct. 8, 1954
in Tooele, Utah. Solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple Oct. 7, 1955. Kathy was
always active in the LDS Church serving in various callings. At the age of 23
she was called as a Primary president in the Holladay 15th ward by Bishop Paul
Davis. She went on to serve the young women in the ward as a teacher in
various groups over the years and loved many into activity in the church. She
served as Young Women's president, ward Relief Society president, and as stake
Relief Society president in the Olympus Stake. She was a dedicated and devoted
mother to J. Michael (Cheryl), Gary B. (Leisa), Janalyn and Richard S.
(Tiffany). She is the grandmother of 15 and the great-grandmother of 3 8/9.
She will be remembered as an efficient and well organized person ready to help
with any project. She was clever and resourceful and had a willingness to
serve. She loved to travel and with Jim they traveled around the world. She
was a green thumber and loved to work in her gardens. She loved flowers and
knew exactly the kind and type that would grow in her yard. She would plan and
have parties that included two or 200 and loved to entertain. Her home was her
castle and she loved to share of her talents with others. She showed an
exceptional and unconditional love to all and in so doing cultivated many
friends over her lifetime. She would never leave anyone out of any activity
and made sure all was comfortable. Her special time of the year was Christmas
and she spent many days decorating the house so the family could enjoy this
special feeling. She was always eager to spend time with her family and
friends. It was always a good time for food and she was a great cook, eager to
share with others and enjoy their company. She enjoyed bowling with her
buddies, sewing with the group and dancing with Jim. She was grateful to be
able to celebrate her 50th anniversary this past year with her family and
friends at her cabin in Weber canyon. We will miss this special person.

Ward, 3070 Nila Way, Salt Lake City, viewing will be held 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch
Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Dr, Salt Lake City, and again one hour prior to

Hales, Madeline Lee
Madeline Lee Hales 1988 ~ 2005 Our beautiful, loving daughter, sister, and
friend returned home to our Heavenly Father on Valentine's Day, February 14,
2005 at the age of 16. Mature beyond her years, Madeline was born October 25,
1988, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Nicholas and Michal Hardy Hales. She was a
sophomore at East High School, a cheerleader, member of the dance company and
an honor student. Madeline loved beauty in all things. Beautiful music,
beautiful dancing, and, most of all, beautiful people, made Madeline's life
and others', full and rich. Madeline was disciplined, organized and
self-motivated and pursued her goals with commitment and vigor. Madeline's
laugh was spontaneous and frequent and her warm, natural smile brightened the
darkest day. Madeline enjoyed and loved her many friends and often befriended
the underdog or just someone who needed a friend. Madeline was an active
member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her primary focus
in her life was obeying her Heavenly Father and following her Savior Jesus
Christ. She loves the Gospel and knows the joy that comes from serving others.
Madeline developed many talents and did not hesitate to share them. Blessed
with an angelic voice, Madeline lifted her listeners heavenward. She performed
frequently in plays and musicals at City Repertory Theatre, Grand Theatre,
Hale Center Theatre and in school productions. She danced with the Salt Lake
Dance Center, Children's Dance Theater, in Ballet West's Nutcracker and
performed as a child of light during the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics. Madeline's
primary love was her family. She simply preferred to be with them even as a
teenager. She is a devoted sister, daughter and granddaughter. We will miss
her deeply in all areas of our lives, but know that our separation from her is
temporary and for a small moment. Her sisters Emilie, Rachel and Angela, her
brothers Russell, David and Clayton, her grandparents Russell and Carma Hales
and many aunts, uncles and cousins, survive Madeline. Her maternal
grandparents Grant and Janell Hardy preceded her in death. Funeral Services
will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 19, 2005 at the Monument Park
North Stake Center located at 1300 S. Wasatch Drive in Salt Lake City, Utah. A
viewing will be held Friday, 6-8 p.m. at Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 1300 S. 2350
E., and Saturday at the Stake Center 90 minutes prior to the service.

Hall, Kaye Varney
Kaye Varney Hall 1937 ~ 2005 Roberta Kaye Varney Hall, 67, of American Fork,
passed away Tuesday, Feb.15, 2005 surrounded by her family after a short
battle with stomach cancer. She was born July 13, 1937 in American Fork to
Neldon Earl and Belva Batty Varney. She married her sweetheart, Robert K.
Hall, on Sept. 5, 1958 in American Fork. Their marriage was later solemnized
in the Provo LDS Temple on June 25, 1975. Kaye grew up in American Fork and
graduated from American Fork High School and LDS Seminary. She was active in
the Pep Club and K.J. Bird's Marching Band. She attended BYU and USU. Bob and
Kaye served an LDS Mission in the Nauvoo, Illinois Restoration Mission where
they developed a tremendous love for the Nauvoo Heritage and met lifelong
friends. Her greatest joy in life was being surrounded by her family and
friends and spending time with her grandchildren. She was selfless in her
willingness to serve others. She served faithfully as the Relief Society,
Young Women's and Primary president among many other church callings. She was
a proud member of the Mayflower Society and loved doing family genealogy. She
had many talents and enjoyed flower gardening and making new friends. She had
a special gift of making people feel loved and wanted. Survived by her
husband, children, Kurt (Cindy) Hall of Highland; Torri (John) Bowcut of
Highland; Nicole (Chris) Hansen of Lindon; and Jason (Angela) Hall of American
Fork; 12 grandchildren, five great-grand-children, sister, Jill (Craig)
Roberts of American Fork; brother, Gary Varney of New Mexico. Preceded in
death by her parents, and sister, Echo Christiansen. Funeral will be Saturday,
Feb. 19 at 11 a.m. in the Hillcrest Stake Center, 165 N 350 W, American Fork.
Viewing will be Friday evening 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 E

Hess, Laurie Dawn
Laurie Dawn Hess 1958 ~ 2005 Laurie Dawn Hess, 46, was born August 27, 1958 to
William R. and Fern R. Hess of Salt Lake City, Utah. Our Laurie valiantly
fought an infection that came on fast and took her long before any of us were
ready to let her go. She returned to our Heavenly Father on February 8, 2005.
She leaves behind a beautiful daughter, Abigail Rebecca; two brothers, Rick
(Anne) and Chip (Beatrice); and three sisters, Becky Boyack (Harold), Jodi
Ellsworth (Butch), and Julie Thomson (Dan); numerous aunts, uncles, friends,
and nieces and nephews; especially Tyler, Ryan, Mitchell, Alexis, and Megan
for whom she frequently provided loving daily care. Laurie's easy smile and
cheerful attitude made you want to be her friend. Spending time with Laurie
inevitably meant lots of laughter. Laurie was a loving and devoted mother, a
fantastic cook, she had a beautiful singing voice, was very articulate with
the written and spoken word, and created amazing works of art with her crochet
hook. Laurie recently discovered a new talent - teaching. She was an assistant
in a computer class, and her students instantly loved her - just like the rest
of us. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 19, 2005, at 12:00
noon at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1950 East, Sandy. A visitation will
be held on Friday evening, February 18, 2005, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and again
on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m., just prior to the funeral service. The
family would like to express deep gratitude for the gentle and loving care
Laurie received at the Intensive Care Units at Cottonwood and LDS Hospitals,
most specifically, her nurses Jeannette and Rob.

David Wayman Jeffs 1978 ~ 2005 David Wayman Jeffs, "Big D," age, 27, passed
away Feb. 14, 2005, in South Jordan, UT. He was born January 8, 1978, to Ward
and Susan Jeffs in Sandy, UT. On June 16, 2001, he married AmyLyn Kunz in
Herriman, UT. What could be more fitting than for Dave to leave this life on
Valentine's Day? His life was the very essence of love. What a man of love he
is; from the sweet day of his birth, love and peace were his banner. His
recent passion was to have and raise a family. His favorite pastimes were
fishing, hunting, and being with Mother Nature. David bonded his family and
friends through a sincere and calming love and peaceful aura. He left this
life in peace, with no enemies. David is love. He is survived by his wife,
Amy; daughter, Tierra; his parents, Ward and Susan Jeffs, also Sherie Jeffs;
his wife's parents, Richard and Marylyn Kunz, and numerous brothers and
sisters and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his
brother, Clayne, and niece, Cheyenne. Viewing will be held on Friday, Feb. 18,
from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S., Sandy, where funeral
services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow

Johansen, Violet Smith
Violet Smith Johansen 1921 ~ 2005 Violet Smith Johansen, 84, died peacefully
on February 14, 2005 in Salt Lake City at Midtown Manor Care Center of natural
causes. She was born January 12, 1921 in Randolph, Utah. Violet was the fifth
of ten children born to Phebe and Fred Smith. Violet married Durlan "Joe"
Johansen on November 18, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were able to live
together for 30 years before Joe died unexpectedly on May 18, 1971. Vi
struggled with her mental health for the balance of her life. She faced her
challenges with courage and a contagious sense of humor. In her personal
history her older sister Gilda wrote "Violet brought a lot of fun to the
family, you couldn't help but love her." We all loved her. She will be missed
by her four children, Linda, Bob, Dave and Steve, and her beloved
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday
February, 18, 2005 at the Sandy East Stake, 9636 South 1700 East where friends

Jorgensen, Margaret Alberta Brown
Margaret Alberta Brown Jorgensen 1927 ~ 2005 Margaret Alberta Brown Jorgensen,
78, passed away peacefully on Feb. 13, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was
born on January 9, 1927 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada to Hugh B. Brown and
Zina Young Card. On August 16, 1946 she married Clinton Olsen Jorgensen in the
Salt Lake Temple. They were later divorced. Survived by her former husband, as
well as three sisters, Zola Hodson, Mary Woodward, and Carol Sonntag, all of
Provo, Utah; and one brother, Charles Manley Brown of St. George, Utah; also
her four children: Margaret Ann Rankin, Salt Lake City; Carol Brown Cottam and
Rula Mary Jorgensen, both of Long Beach, California; and David Clinton
Jorgensen, Salt Lake City; as well as four grandchildren and three great
grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Zina Brown and
LaJune Hay, one brother, Hugh Card Brown. Margaret was life long member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having a love and a devotion to
the Savior that was second to none. During a portion of her youth she lived in
England while her father served as president of the British Mission. She later
returned to England and was called on a full-time LDS mission there; her
assigned companion, Edna Longbone, became a cherished, lifelong friend. She
loved to write and composed numerous poems and essays, as well as humorous,
lighthearted skits and plays for her ward and stake, which were always
well-received. On several occasions she was also asked to participate in the
performances and especially relished opportunities to play the villain, doing
so with great gusto. Her sense of humor and infectious laugh were legendary
among her family members, attributes which helped to carry her through many
difficult times. Although she suffered many health problems throughout her
life, she strived to impress upon her children the importance of being a good
parent, and attributes a great deal of whatever success she had in this to her
father, without whose unending patience and wisdom she might have fallen short
of her goal. To say Margaret was a queen among women would be to grossly
understate the true nobility and transcendent intelligence of her innately
celestial soul, the many facets of which shone only more brilliantly in later
years, even as her body dwindled. When in her presence, one surely stood on

Justesen, Leah Sitterud
Leah Sitterud Justesen 1913 ~ 2005 ORANGEVILLE - Leah Sitterud Justesen, age
91, was blessed to be able to return home to her Heavenly Father on Feb. 13,
2005. She was born in Orangeville, UT, to Ole W. and Caroline Tatton Sitterud
on Aug. 20, 1913. She married Russell (Shep) Justesen in the Manti LDS Temple
Oct. 29, 1936 and they were married for 57 years and together had six
children, five of whom survive them: Annalee and Dick Jones of Orangeville;
Karl and Gloria Justesen of Salem, UT; Alice and Tim Blackham of Murray, UT;
Ralph and Rebecca Justesen and Kathryn and Tracy Addley, all of Orangeville.
Leah loved her children and was proud of their accomplishments. She adored her
13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren and she was blessed with three
great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son
Russell and two grandchildren. Leah lived her entire life in Orangeville. As
an active member of the LDS Church she loved serving in the Primary,
especially in the boy's programs. She spent many years as the Compassionate
Service leader and loved being a Visiting Teacher in the Relief Society.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the
Orangeville LDS Chapel where friends may call from 10:00 to 10:45 prior to
services. Burial will be in the Orangeville Cemetery under the direction of
Fausett Mortuary. The family wishes to express gratitude and great
appreciation to the workers at the Emery County Care and Rehab. Center who
lovingly and tenderly cared for our mother.

Marjorie Isabelle Linton Lambert 1909 ~ 2005 Marjorie Isabelle (Linton)
Lambert, age 95, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at home with her six
children and many other family members at her side. She was the daughter of
John Barrett and Frances Child Linton. Marjorie married Thomas Allan Lambert
in the Salt Lake Temple on December 7, 1932. Mom's life was centered around
her children, extended family and the Gospel. She enjoyed visiting with her
children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and sharing her love of life
and testimony with them. Her life was spent in serving others. She loved her
various callings in the church, including, Primary, Young Women, Relief
Society, and especially her many years of service in the Salt Lake Temple. She
was amazingly imaginative and her hands were always busy creating gifts for
others. Visitors often left with a hand-made gift. After her beloved husband's
untimely passing, she learned to live independently, and enjoyed being able to
live in her home and manage her own personal affairs very successfully. She
had the opportunity to visit her children living in California, Japan and
Georgia. She was known for her beautiful smile that greeted everyone. Even
casual acquaintances were edified by her sweet spirit and commented on her
smile. Her concern for others was evident in everything she did. She is
survived by her four sons and two daughters: Robert Allan, Howard John
(Nancy), Thomas Linton (Jo Ann), St. George, UT; Glen Lionel (Janet), Marjorie
Cannegieter (Ron) Georgia and Ann Hansen (Alan); 32 grandchildren; 78
great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her
parents, her eternal companion; Allan, nine siblings, daughter-in-law Myrna
Holding (Robert's wife), and grandson Tobin (Robert's son). Funeral services
will be held Saturday, February 19, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at the East Millcreek
1st Ward, 2700 East Evergreen Avenue (3435 South). Friends may call on Friday

Bob Marshall 1930 ~ 2005 HELPER- Robert John Marshall, age 74, passed away
February 15, 2005 at Castleview Hospital. Born September 14, 1930 in Heiner,
Utah to James Brooks and Ila Hampson Marshall. Married Peggy Sharlene Haycock,
July 3, 1950 in Carbonville, Utah. Longtime resident of Carbon County, where
he served as the Union President for the Price River Coal Preparation Plant,
U.M.W.A. Local # 1681. Honorably served in the US Army and the National Guard.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. Bob's greatest love
was spending time with his grandkids, great-grandkids and giving everyone
special nicknames. Survived by his wife, Peggy Marshall, Helper; sons, Jay
(Sue) Marshall, Terry (Marla) Marshall, both of Price; daughters, Tonya
(Scott) Turner, Helper; Cookie Martinez, Salt Lake City; Billie Jean Marshall,
Provo; sister, Leila Boucher, Washington, 21 grandchildren, 22
great-grandchildren and his dog, Fluffy. Preceded in death by parents;

Nelson, Dantzel W.
Dantzel W. Nelson 1926 ~ 2005 Dantzel White Nelson, 78, died unexpectedly,
suddenly, but peacefully, on Saturday, February 12, 2005 at her home in Salt
Lake City, Utah. Her husband, Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the
Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was at her
side. Dantzel was born February 17, 1926 on the family farm in Perry, Utah.
She was adored in the family of Maude Clark and LeRoy Davis White. She was
reared in a household of music and love. She graduated from Box Elder High
School, Brigham City, Utah, in 1941, having been named as the "Outstanding
Senior Girl". She attended the University of Utah on a scholarship, majoring
in education. Her musical talents were well known in the community as she
excelled in concerts as a soprano soloist and in leading roles of a number of
theatrical productions. She affiliated with the Chi Omega sorority. She
graduated in 1946 with a Bachelor of Science degree and a certificate in
secondary teaching. She married Russell M. Nelson in the Salt Lake Temple,
August 31, 1945. Following her graduation, she taught at Hawthorne Elementary
School in Salt Lake City. She also taught school in Minneapolis, Minnesota,
while her husband continued his post-doctoral medical studies there. From the
time of the arrival of their first child in 1948, her life's work and joy came
from her being a mother and homemaker. Always active in responsibilities as a
faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sister
Nelson served in Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary auxiliaries in the
Minneapolis Minnesota Branch, North Central States Mission, 1947 -51; 1954 -
55; Washington Ward, Washington, D.C. Stake, 1951-53; Cambridge Massachusetts
Branch, New England States Mission 1953 - 54; and the Garden Park and Yale
Second Wards of the Salt Lake Bonneville Stake. The Nelsons are the parents of
nine daughters and one son. Into their constantly growing family, Dantzel
welcomed the spouses of their children, 56 grandchildren, the spouses of 13
married grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Sister Nelson delighted in
serving others. She had the ability to cultivate and celebrate the unique
virtues of each family member. She and Elder Nelson held their own extended
family gatherings at least once a month, which could include any or all of the
106 members of their immediate family. She sang as a member of The Mormon
Tabernacle Choir from 1966 - 86. In 1999, she received the Exemplary Woman
Award from Ricks College for her "Outstanding Example of LDS Womanhood." She
expressed her creativity through needlework, sewing, quilting, cooking, and
family history research. Freely she gave her works of art to others. For the
past 21 years Sister Nelson traveled throughout the world at her husband's
side, bearing her own witness of the Lord Jesus Christ and His restored gospel
to many thousands of God's children. Her life was characterized by her
unwavering faith, diligent discipleship, selfless service, and angelic
attributes. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Emily N. Wittwer;
parents, LeRoy D. and Maude C. White; sister, Beth W. Dredge; and brother,
Kenneth D. White. She is survived by her husband, Russell; children, Marsha N.
McKellar, Wendy N. Maxfield (Norman), Gloria N. Irion (Richard), Brenda N.
Miles (Richard), Sylvia N. Webster (David), Laurie N. Marsh (Richard), Rosalie
N. Ringwood (Michael), Marjorie N. Helsten (Bradley), and Russell M. Nelson Jr
(Britney). She always considered their son-in-law, Bradley E. Wittwer, and the
wife of his second marriage, Julie, as part of their own family. She is also
survived by three brothers and one sister, L. Clark White (Grace) of Perry,
Marjorie W. Mecham of Ogden, Boyd B. White of Perry, and Richard H. White
(Mary) of Las Vegas. Funeral services will be held12 noon Friday, February

Paulson, LaVon Norton
LaVon N. Paulson 1915 ~ 2005 LaVon Norton Paulson, 89, our beloved mom,
grandma, and friend passed away on February 15, 2005 in the loving presence of
her family. She was born June 10, 1915 in Hiawatha, UT. to James and Lillian
Norton as the youngest of nine children. She married Don Paulson on October
19, 1935 and their union was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. She is
survived by her five children; Sally (James) Featherstone, Carole (Evan)
Williams, Reed (Berenda) Paulson, June Cassidy, Brad (Cindy) Paulson, 11
grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. LaVon was preceded in death by her
husband, Don in 1964, two grandsons, as well as all of her siblings. Mother's
life was an example of love and devotion to her family. She will always be
remembered for her kind caring ways, smiling face and sweet dimples. Funeral

Roach, Vicky V.
Vicky V. Roach 1948 ~ 2005 Vicky, beloved daughter of God, returned to Him
February 15, 2005. She rejoined her mother Ferne who preceded her in March of
2004. Vicky was born September 8, 1948 to Ferne and Ellis Varcoe. She was
raised in Salt Lake City where she met her eternal companion Tom. They were
married July 31, 1968 in the Logan temple. An artistic and creative woman, she
enjoyed sharing her talents with family and friends. She was always supportive
of those in need, unconditionally giving of her love. Vicky had the uncommon
ability to empathize with the many people who's lives she touched. She was a
mother to many more than the children to whom she gave birth. She enjoyed
traveling with her family, especially along the majestic Southern Oregon
coast. She is survived by her husband Tom; children Lisa (Tom Frankowski),
Corey, Rebecca (Jason Pahl), Gregory; and grandchildren. Also by her father
Ellis and sister Nancy of Fort Jones, CA. Funeral services will be held
Saturday, February 19th at 2:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300

Russell, Helen J.
Helen J. Russell 1919 ~ 2005 At 85 years of age, mom, joined "Big Al" on
Valentines Day! Helen was born August 5, 1919 in Deertrail, CO., the youngest
of eight children born to Frideborg and Edward Sundine. Helen married Al
Russell, Jr. in Richmond, VA. in 1948 and they moved to Salt Lake in 1951.
Helen took pride in her children, Hap and Toni. She volunteered at J.E.
Cosgriff, fundraised for St. Ambrose and the Ute football conference. Mom and
Dad both worked at the VA Hospital, mom as a medical secretary and dad as a
physical therapist. Mom had the opportunity to travel the world, became a Life
Master in duplicate bridge, did Monday lunch with The Girlfriends, was a
devoted PEO member, played golf and overall enjoyed life. Her friends came
from all walks of life. Helen is survived by her daughter, Toni R. Carter
(Craig), sisters Pauline Dawson (TX); Virginia Covey (CO); She was preceded in
death by her husband, Alvin G. Russell, son, Alvin "HAP" Russell, mother and
father, brothers Harold, Paul, Edward, sisters Evelyn, Genevieve. Special
thanks to CNS Hospice, in particular Karen, Jennifer and Paulette. Services
will be held at Neil O'Donnell & Sons Mortuary 372 East 100 South Thursday,
February 17, 2005, 12:00 p.m. (Noon). Friends may call at the mortuary on

Tuliliau Siu Leiataua Simpson 1928 ~ 2005 Tuliliau Siu Leiataua Simpson, age
76, passed away February13, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born October 29,
1928 in Sauniatu, Western Samoa, daughter of Si'u Sasa and Tuliliau Sitagata
Leiataua. Married James Nowell Simpson July 24, 1954 in Honolulu, Hawaii. They
settled in West Jordan in 1978. Served a mission to Melbourne, Australia from
1995-97. She was a member of the Polynesian Choir, Polynesian Veterans
Association, ward choir and Jordan River Temple choir, and a Jordan River
Temple ordinance worker since 1998. Survived by children, Tuliliau (Steve)
McKinley, Austin, TX; Catherine Leaututu and Ramona Tuimauga, both of West
Jordan; James Nowell (Teresa) Simpson, Whittier, CA; Eric (Jodi) Simpson, West
Jordan; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers; four
sisters. Preceded in death by husband on May 3, 1979; and a brother and a
sister. A viewing and service will be Friday, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the West
Jordan 44th Ward, 1899 West 7600 South, West Jordan. Funeral services will be
Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at the church where a viewing will be held, 9-9:45 a.m.

Stireman, Eloese Kay
Eloese Kay Stireman 1923 ~ 2005 Our loving wife, mother, grandmother and
friend, Eloese Stireman, age 81, passed away February 16, 2005 in West Valley
City, Utah. Born August 24, 1923 in Heber City, Utah, daughter of Lee
Partington and Leah Murdock Kay. She married Jean Marcel Ruff in Provo, Utah
and they had two sons, David and Steven. They later divorced. She married
Raymond James Stireman August 15, 1977. Eloese was a school teacher for many
years, a postal instructor as well as a business owner. She was well educated
and very ambitious. She spent much time volunteering within her community, and
following their retirement, loved traveling with her husband whom she loved
very much. She is survived by her husband, Ray; sons: David Marcel Ruff and
Steven Kay Ruff; stepson, R. James Stireman; granddaughter, Stephanie Stireman
Smith; great-grandson, Roger Owens Smith; brother, G. Richard Kay; sisters,
Virginia Rawley, Carol Durrant and Kathleen Allen. She is also survived by her
former daughter-in-law, Pat Stireman, who remained a very close friend, and
many other friends who will miss her dearly. Special thanks to Rocky Mountain
Care Center and Rocky Mountain Hospice for their loving, tender care of
Eloese. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral
Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road where family and friends may visit Friday, 6-8 p.m.
and again Saturday, 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Heber City
Cemetery.

Swensen, Lewis Oswald
Lewis Oswald Swensen 1945 ~ 2005 Lewis Oswald Swensen, age 59, returned to his
Heavenly Father on February 14, 2005 surrounded by his loving children. Born
May 18, 1945 in Murray, Utah to Oswald L. and Louise B. Swensen. Married Susan
D. Olsen, they later divorced. Lewis graduated from Granger High School in
1963. He served in the Army Reserve for 17 years and retired as Sergeant First
Class. He worked for Granite and ESE Credit Unions. He was a member of the LDS
Church. Lewis enjoyed hunting, boating, camping, cooking, hiking, fishing,
gardening, and teasing others. Survived by daughters, Stacey (Troy) DeVore,
Holly (Trevor) Lambourne; sons, Jeffrey (Michelle) Swensen, Matthew (Shannon)
Swensen; sisters, Lois (Bert) Trost, LouDeene (Dennis) Barlocker, Afton
(Doyle) Hansen, Colleen (Clifford) Rhoads; brother, Randy (Becky) Swensen;
grandchildren, Zakary, Courtney, Whitney, Peyton, Makena, and Baby DeVore.
Preceded in death by his parents and daughter Kimberly Ann Swensen. Funeral
Services will be held Friday February 18th, 2005 at noon in the Paradise Ward
LDS Chapel, 1555 W Lovely Rd (5095 S). A viewing will be held prior to the
service at the church from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Funeral Directors: Jenkins-Soffe

Taylor, Doris Crawford
Doris Crawford Taylor "Together Again" Our loving mother, Doris Crawford
Taylor, returned to the arms of her sweetheart on February 14, 2005. Mom was
born October 14, 1932 in Summit, Utah to Carl Leroy and Marie Dalley Crawford.
She was the third of seven children. Her family moved to Parowan, Utah, where
she grew up. She later met Gene Bentley Taylor and they married on October 1,
1949 in Casper, Wyoming. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti
Temple. Together they raised four children: Carl A. Taylor, Rose (Norm)
Bartell, Aletha (Gary) Paskett and Juanita (Tom) Bird. At the time of her
death she had nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one
granddogger. Mom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. She held positions in Primary, Relief Society and Scouting,
and also served a mission with Dad at the Jordan River Temple. She loved
gardening and enjoyed working in her parents garden for many years. She
enjoyed sewing, crafts and working on word puzzles. Mom and dad took many
trips while employed for Avis Car Rentals. For the past few years, mom resided
in the Draper Rehab. Center. We would like to especially thank the staff of
Draper Rehab. for all the loving care given to mom. Mom was preceded in death
by her husband, parents and three sisters. Funeral Services will be held
Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Valley View Funeral Home Chapel,
4335 W. 4100 S. The family will receive friends at a viewing Friday evening
from 6-8 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services
on Saturday. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.

Welch, Michael
Michael D. Welch 1949 ~ 2005 Michael Donald Welch, age 55, of West Jordan,
passed away in his home on 2/13 of heart disease. He was born July 25, 1949 in
Durango, Co. He was the son of Baron Trenk Welch and Velma Geneva Armstrong.
He had two half brothers; Lee Francis Peck and Thomas Anderson. He worked for
Kennecott Copper until 4/02. He is survived by his son, Dave (Brenda) Welch,
his daughter, Jessica Geneva Welch-Bruso, both of West Valley City, and by his
grandchildren Nicholas, Jacob and Tanner Welch, and Geneva Bruso. He is also
survived by many friends and people he cared deeply about, including Cody
Weaver of West Valley. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his
eldest son Jimmy Welch. In accordance with his wishes, he was cremated.
Services will be held Sat. Feb. 19, at 10 am at the LDS Chapel, 7000 So. 4800
W. West Jordan. Friends and family may visit with the family immediately after
the services.

Westwood, Ralph
Ralph W. Westwood 1928 ~ 2005 Ralph W. Westwood died February 13, 2005 in Salt
Lake City. If you are reading this, I have taken my last breath. Instead of
your having now to put together my obituary, consider letting me write it for
you, as follows. I was born on March 29, 1928, to William H. and Gladys Barker
Westwood, in Salt Lake City. I grew up there and after graduating from the
University of Utah College of Law in 1952, practiced law there for a time,
mostly while working half time and later full time for the State of Utah. That
job led to my working for the U.S. Bureau of Public Roads in Washington, D.C.
My last job of any consequence, it involved the collection and analysis of
highway accident and travel data. In time, I left Washington to live again in
Salt Lake City. I never married, living most of my life with my stepmother,
Ruth Newman Westwood, in her home in Salt Lake City. There she gave me
sustenance of every kind, sacrificing unstintingly in doing so yet avoiding
being judgmental with me about my many shortcomings. That I didn't deserve
what she did for me is a huge understatement. To each member of my family
(both nuclear and extended) and to each of my friends: Thanks for the joy and
richness you brought into my life and for being you. Carry on...and take care.
Ralph is survived by mother, Ruth N. Westwood, sisters; Carol (Arnold) Angle,
Sandy, UT., and JoAnn (Gale) Johnson, Grover, WY; brothers; Dale (Shirley)
Westwood, Salt Lake City, and Richard Westwood, Cedar City, UT; and many
nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, sister Lucile (Carl)
Weatherbee, nieces, Shauna Angle and Linda Weatherbee. Memorial services will
Friday February 8, at 3:00 p.m. at the Wasatch Ward, 1750 South 1500 East.

Whetman, Gail Douglas "Sam"
Gail "Sam" Douglas Whetman 1939 ~ 2005 Our father passed away peacefully in
his home surrounded by his family on February 14, 2005. He had been battling
cancer for over a year and how grateful we are that we had a chance to say our
last good-byes. Sam was born September 15, 1939 to Parley L. Whetman and
Virginia Noakes Whetman in Murray, Utah. He then moved to Bountiful and
attended Bountiful High, and was in the first graduating class of 1957. Sam
built his home and loved being there. He enjoyed the time he spent working on
it. He also was a wonderful gardener and took pride in his big, red tomatoes.
His favorite thing to do was to sit on his deck that overlooked his beautiful
yard and listen to the creek. Sam was a dedicated, hard worker. He worked at
L-3 Communications as an electronic engineer for 45 years. He loved
electronics and was constantly taking things apart to see if he could fix
them. Friends at work say that he was dependable and even as he went through
treatments for his cancer, he was still going to work as often as he could. We
want to thank his co-workers for everything they did to help our dad and we
know he really appreciated it. Sam was preceded in death by his brother and
best friend Randall Dean Whetman. Sam will be greatly missed by his children
and his brothers and sister. Funeral services will be Friday, February 18 at
1:00 p.m. A viewing will be held Thursday, February 17 from 6-8 p.m. and one
hour prior to the funeral service. Both will be held at Russon Brothers

Wilson, Teresa Kimiye Aoki
Teresa Kimiye Aoki Wilson 1954 ~ 2005 Teresa Kimiye Aoki Wilson was like a
spring flower. She made the world more beautiful and was an inspiration to
those who knew her. But she regrettably was with us for too short a time. Mrs.
Wilson died of complications from a heart attack and stroke Tuesday, February
8, 2005, at Bon Secours Hospital in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She was 50.
Better known as Terri or Ter-Bear, Mrs. Wilson was born in Salt Lake City,
Utah, on October 14, 1954. She attended the University of Utah, where she
studied architecture and met her future husband, Stephen David Wilson. The
couple celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary on August 6, 2004. They lived
in Utah, Texas, Arizona and Hawaii before settling in Michigan in 1986. Mrs.
Wilson's ability to draw was the envy of all. She illustrated the unpublished
children's book "Hot Pink Tennis Shoes," written by a friend, Gilda Burke. As
a memorial to Mrs. Wilson, Mr. Wilson has established the Terri Wilson / Jill
Burke Publishing Fund to hasten publication and distribution of the book. In

Dame, Grosse Pointe, MI 48230, or call (313) 882-7697. Mrs. Wilson also showed
cooking artistry. She loved to prepare delicious and diverse meals and seldom
used a recipe. The recipes were in her head and she relied on knowledge,
creativity, timing and good sense. One of her favorite activities was
preparing New Year's Day feasts for loved ones. The flavor and variety of each
dish were the subjects of much praise. Survivors include Mrs. Wilson's
husband, a former assistant sports editor and BYU beat writer at The Salt Lake
Tribune; daughter Regan Anna Marie of Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan; mother
Kiyoko June Aoki of Salt Lake City; and brothers Glenn Todd Aoki and Kurtis
Fred Aoki of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her father,
Fred Toshio Aoki, and sister, Claudia Kay Aoki. There will be a memorial
service at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann's Church, 450 E. 2100 South, in Salt
Lake City. A luncheon will follow.
