Anderson, Mary Ione Jensen
Mary Ione Jensen Anderson 1915 ~ 2005 Mary Ione Jensen Anderson, age 89,
passed away January 12, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mary was born December
30, 1915 in Moroni, Utah to William Leslie Jensen and Anna Marie Johnson. She
married Ewell T. Anderson on Nov. 7, 1934 in Moroni, Utah; the marriage was
later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple on June 9, 2000. Mary was an
exceptional mother and grandmother, always showing unconditional love and
generosity to all her great posterity and family. She enjoyed family
gatherings, genealogy and attending the temple in her later years. She spent
many hours doing handiwork, scrap booking, gardening, and especially reading
and learning. She was very intelligent and greatly missed her eyesight during
the last several years of her life. In the retirement years, she and Ewell
spent considerable time traveling and fishing. Mary was a wonderful teacher in
the DUP and Relief Society along with many other callings which she faithfully
held in the LDS Church. She worked at Tooele Ordinance Depot for nine years,
Hercules Credit Union for three years, and the State Board of Education for 14
years. Mother, we love you. You will be missed by all who knew you. We have
appreciated your great wisdom and concern for all. Mary is survived by her
daughters, Yulene (Norman) Rushton, West Valley City and Kathleen (Edward)
Kendall, West Valley City; sons, Gayle E. (Lynn), West Valley City and F. Jay
(Donetta), Erda, UT; sisters, Venita (Hal) Kartchner, So. Jordan and Dorothy
Corbin, Midvale; brother, Leslie Jensen, 23 grandchildren, 56
great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death
by her husband, Ewell T. Anderson; one grandson, three great-grand children,
one sister and two brothers. Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 17,
2005 at 12:00 noon at the Taylorsville 12th Ward, 4505 S. 3420 W. The family
will receive friends at a viewing Sunday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Valley View
Funeral Home, 4335 W. 4100 So., and one hour prior to the services on Monday

Andreason, Verna Wyroa
Verna Wyroa Andreason 1922 ~ 2005 SALINA, UT - Verna Wyroa Larson Andreason of
Salina, Utah died January 15, 2005 in Mayfield, Utah. Verna was born in
Axtell, Utah May 25, 1922 a daughter of Lavern and Wyroa Lorinda Larson. She
graduated from Gunnison Valley High School in May 1939. She married Ray
Andreason of Salina, Utah January 8, 1941. They are the parents of nine
children. Verna is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints. She taught Primary for 25 years and was involved with the Cub Scouts.
She worked in Accounting, the Salina Turkey Plant and was a letter carrier for
the U.S. Post Office. She delivered the mail on a bike, which she enjoyed,
being in the outdoors, and liked to meet and visit with people. Verna was a
member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, the American Legion Auxiliary,
and an Avon representative for many years. But her most important job was that
of a wife, mother, and homemaker. Verna could do any sewing or craft project.
She was an excellent seamstress, quilter, and enjoyed ceramics. After
retirement she spent the summers at Fish Lake with Ray and loved exploring all
over the mountains. Verna is survived by her husband, Ray Andreason of Salina;
children, Saunda (Clyde) Coates, Tanya (Craig) Topham, all of Gunnison, Donna
(Ber-nell) Manwill, Charlotte (Duane) Follett, all of Centerfield, Paulla
(John) Merchant, Derek (Dana) Andreason, all of Salina, Desslie (Vickie)
Andreason, Taylorsville, Darron (Cindy) Andreason, Aurora; 38 grandchildren;
74 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild. Verna was preceded in
death by a daughter, Kathleen Mary Andreason; her parents; brothers, Ronald
and Devon Larson; granddaughter, Heather Winn; grandsons, Jarred Andreason,
Conner Coates, Tyzeic Besendorfer; and a son-in-law, Larry Winn. Funeral
services will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at 12 noon in the Salina LDS
Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina, where friends may call for viewing
Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. and morning Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior
to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery under the

Archuleta, Albert Modesto
Albert Modesto Archuleta 1932 ~ 2005 Our loving father, grandfather, uncle,
and friend, Albert Modesto Ar-chuleta, age 72, passed away January 14, 2005.
Born July 1, 1932 to Richard, Sr. and Jean Valdez Archuleta in Saguache,
Colorado. Married Louise Cora Trujillo December 7, 1953, she preceded him in
death. He was a member and trustee of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Murray.
Survived by children, Tina (Juan) Lopez, Derrick (Jeanine) Archuleta, Jeannie
(Terri) Williams, Valerie (Don) Godfrey, Kimberly (Brandon) Arrington, Richard
(Eydie) Archuleta, Ronda (Randy) Medina; 25 grandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren; brothers, Lloyd (Della) Archuleta, Dave (Delores)
Archuleta, Jerry (Glenda) Archuleta; sisters, Eva Kass, Tina (Hyman) Wong,
Delores (Dennis) Santistevan; and special friend, Connie Erskine. Preceded in
death by wife; daughter, Lori Montoya; son, Albert, Jr.; granddaughter, Lisa
Marie Lopez; parents; three brothers and one sister. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be Tuesday, January 18, 2005, 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier,
4501 West 5215 South. A viewing will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. with a rosary at

Barnett, Louis Awawa
Louis A. Barnett 1922 ~ 2005 Farmington - Louis Awawa Barnett, father,
grandfather, great grandfather, passed peacefully from this life to his
Heavenly Father's kingdom on Wednesday, January 12, 2005. Although Louis was
born in Hilo, Hawaii on December 26, 1922 to Adelbert and Lovenia Barnett, he
grew up and resided for the majority of his life in Farmington, Utah. Serious
health problems marred his teenage years, culminating in the removal of one
lung. Despite doctors' judgments that he would not survive, he lived a long
and productive 82 years. He graduated from Davis High School and later earned
a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah. He married Eula Mae Garrett
March 19, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple and raised two daughters, Adelle and
Barbara. With Eula, he owned and operated The Time Box in Layton and Barnett's
Jewelers in Kaysville. He later worked for many years at Hill Air Force Base
as an engineer and enjoyed working and traveling in conjunction with automatic
testing for military aircraft. Louis loved his family. He was a kind and
generous father. He devotedly cared for his wife during the years of
incapacity with rheumatoid arthritis before her death. He loved his
grandchildren and found great joy in being near his great-grandchildren while
they were living in his home and later when he was staying with Barbara. Louis
was a dedicated High Priest in the LDS Church, serving in many callings. He
especially loved serving as a missionary at Cherry Hill, as Executive
Secretary in the Farmington 2nd Ward, and as choir director and member of many
ward choirs and singing groups. In his later years, he was tireless in working
in the Family History Extraction program. He was always generous with his
time, his talents and his financial contributions. Louis is survived by his
two daughters, Adelle (R. Gary) Lowe and Barbara (Eric) Frederick, four
grandchildren: Eron (Lisa) Frederick, Kendall (Sarah) Frederick, Diana (Keith
McMunn) Frederick, Michael Frederick, five great-grandchildren: Jonathan,
James, Evan, Morghyn, Brolyn Frederick. The family would like to thank Dr. Val
Hansen, the staff at Lakeview Hospital and Vistacare Hospice for their
compassionate care and support. Funeral services will be held Monday, January
17, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Farmington South Stake Center, 695 S. 200 E.
Friends may call Sunday, January 16, 2005 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Russon

Bedingfield, Myrtle Glenn
Myrtle Glenn Bedingfield "Frankie" Myrtle Glenn Bedingfield (Nee Franklin),
age 90, was born October 23, 1914 in Enid, Mississippi. Frankie married
Utah-born Kenneth R. Bedingfield, in February, 1941. While he was fighting in
the Pacific during World War II, she resided in California. A hard worker, she
became one of the famous "Harvey Girls" and worked at the La Fonda in Santa
Fe, New Mexico, in the 1930's. A wife and mother, she was also an accomplished
fine artist. She was a resident of Utah, her adopted state, from the mid
-1940's through 2000, when she moved to Colorado. Her husband, Kenneth,
preceded her in death, having passed away in Salt Lake City, January 2, 1993.
Her sons, Dr. J. Brent Bedingfield and Ray Niel Bedingfield, her
grandchildren, Kenneth, Laurel, Nicole and Daniel, and her great-grandchild,
Logan, all survive her. In Mississippi and Louisiana, beloved nieces, nephews,
and her sister, Grace survive Frankie. A public viewing for Myrtle Glenn
Bedingfield will be conducted at the McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood
Road, from 7 - 8 p.m. on Monday, January 17, 2004. Graveside services are
scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 18, at the Utah Veterans Memorial
Cemetery, Bluffdale, Utah.

Black, Geneva
Geneva Black 1913 ~ 2005 HELPER - Geneva Josephine Bonacci Black, age 91, our
dear Aunt Jenny, went peacefully to join her loved ones on January 14, 2005.
Born in Helper, Utah, August 11, 1913 to Joseph and Josephine Scavo Bonacci.
Married Raymond O. Black, Dec. 29, 1945 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was
blessed February 22, 1976 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Helper. Geneva
tenderly cared for her husband in the final years of his life until he died in
her arms on June 26, 2000 after 54 years of marriage. Geneva was full of
energy, optimism and had a great sense of humor. Her life was filled with
service to others. She served as a den mother, was a member of the American
Legion Auxiliary for 56 years where she was involved with Girls State, served
in the Castleview Hospital Auxiliary for 31 years, including being past
president. She was a member of the Ladies of Elks, a member and former
President of the DRGW Veterans Auxiliary, and active in numerous other
volunteer organizations. She received several awards in recognition of her
dedicated community service. She was named Woman of the Year by the Utah
American Legion Auxiliary 1986-1987. Castleview Hospital volunteer of the year
1992, Frist Humanitarian award Castleview Hospital 1996. She worked many years
as a salesclerk at Cornet in Helper, and was a 25 year member of the Helper
Business and Professional Women's Club. She loved to sing with her church
choir throughout her life. Geneva was a lifelong resident of Helper and was
honored as a Grand Marshall of the Helper City Christmas Light Parade.
Survivors include sister-in-law Edna Mae Glen, Mesa, AZ; step-daughter,
Loretta (Frank) Mastroianna, North Glen, CO; four grandchildren, eleven
great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews who adore her; a community of
wonderful friends and her special canine companion Sophie. Aunt Jenny truly
endured with love and faith to the end and will be greatly missed. Funeral
Mass, Wednesday, January 19, 2005, 11:00 a.m. St. Anthony Catholic Church,
Helper. Vigil Service, Tuesday evening, 7:00 p.m. St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Family will be at the church Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services.
Committal service Mt. View Cemetery, Helper. In lieu of flowers family
suggests contributions to Shriners Childrens Hospital; Fairfax Road at

Edmond Dennis Bogue "Big Ed" 4/27/48 ~ 1/13/05 Edmond Dennis Bogue born April
27, 1948 to Edmond John and Ilene Sheridan Bogue died January 13, 2005.
Married Peggy Meecham, June 5, 1968. They had two children, Edmond John and
Brenda Merie. Ed was a free spirit who couldn't be confined by a day-to-day
job. He was an independent gold miner who traveled the world and followed his
dreams. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who fell in love with Alaska as a
young boy when he lived there with his dad. He returned many times during his
life to live there and in pursuit of fish and game and also mining projects.
The light of his life was his granddaughter, Edlena Merie. Survived by his
wife, Peggy; son, John; daughter, Brenda (Jesse) Mit-chell; granddaughters,
Edlena, Tori and Cheyenne Mitchell; grandson, Macoy Mitchell; special little
buddy, Alex Sullivan; mother and stepfather, Robert and Ilene Kemp; brothers,
Robert (Kristy) Kemp, Brent Kemp, Kevin (Julie) Bogue; sisters, Sandra (Doug)
Trappett, Shirley (Steve) Yates; Robyn Kemp, Kay (Alan) Wright;
brother-in-law, Bill (Jana) Meecham; sisters-in-law, Debi Coster, Barbara
(Randy) Neff; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceded in death by his father, Edmond John Bogue; father and mother-in-law,
Bill and Helen Mee-cham; and his special grandma Goose Mary Ann Bogue. There
will be a visitation held Friday January 21st, 6-9 p.m. at Redwood Memorial
Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Road.

Bond, F. Arnold
F. Arnold Bond Loving Father and Grandfather Arnold Bond passed away
peacefully at his home in Salt Lake City January 13, 2005 at the age of 95. He
was born June 4, 1909 in Garfield, Utah to Thomas Kirk and Mary Ellen Bond. He
was the oldest living graduate of Judge Memorial High School. He received a
degree as a Mechanical Engineer from the University of Utah. He was the
Maintenance Superintendent for ASARCO in Tacoma, Washington for most of his
career. He married Esther Eleanor Leyson June 13, 1942 in Helena, Montana. She
preceded his death in 1987. He was a devout Catholic and was very active in
the Salt Lake Diocese. Arnold was an avid fly fisherman. He was a kind and
compassionate caretaker to those in need. He leaves behind daughters, Bunnie
(Ken) Hiigel, Esther "Sisti" (Jim) Cogsdell; son, Tom "TK"; six grandchildren;
11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Eleanor Randall. In addition to his wife,
he is preceded by brothers, Erle and Kirk; sisters, Sr. Ann Catherine and
Dorothy. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, January 19, 10 a.m. at the
Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City. Friends may
call Tuesday, January 18th from 6-8 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic

Booth, Christine Z.
Christine Z. Booth 1916 - 2005 Our dear sweet mother, Christine Zimmerly
Booth, died on January 12 at age 88 at Garden Terrace Alzheimer's Center.
Mourning her are her three children - Madeleine Booth Behle of Tiburon,
California (Dr. Hugh Cox), Linda B. Schweikardt, and Edson E. Booth (Johnnye).
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren have lost their loving "Goggy
Chris." They are Peter A. Behle (Shia), Elisabeth Behle Bertero (Tom), Adam H.
Behle (Tina) and Eric "Tiller" Schweikardt. Her four great grandchildren are
Sarah Nicole Bertero, Colin Booth Bertero, Sophia Elisabeth Bertero, and Alex
Kapos Behle. Christine's sister Agnes Zimmerly Hodson (Keith) of Scottsdale,
Arizona, the last of 11 Zimmerly children, and many nieces and nephews survive
her. Christine's husband, Edson R. Booth, preceded her in death in 1966, and
we take great comfort in believing that mother and daddy are finally together
again, "cutting up" and dancing in heaven. Christine was born on November 11,
1916 in Socorro, New Mexico to Richard Maxmillian and Eloisa Stackpole
Zimmerly. One of her six brothers brought home a classmate at the New Mexico
School of Mines (Edson) for dinner, and it was love at first sight! Christine
and Edson married in 1938 and moved to Salt Lake to begin daddy's engineering
profession at Kennecott Copper. Mother's lifelong career as devoted wife and
mother flourished with the arrival of her three "kidlins" over nine years.
Christine began her other career, as a bookkeeper (Dixon Paper Co. and Travel
Center) when Edson was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Mother was "in her
glory" lullabying babies, serving up homilies of common sense and practical
economy with Sunday dinners and New Mexican family suppers, lemon meringue and
devil's food not to be missed. Her life was enriched with bosom buddies and
canasta club, and family visits returning to New Mexico. Her brunette beauty
and stylish mode gave a glamorous aura all through her life. A family in the
parish of Our Lady of Lourdes, she was devoted in her Novenas and served in
Altar Society and saw to it that her children received their sacraments there.
The family is very grateful to the kind and loving staff at Garden Terrace
where mother lived for almost six years. Joyce, Norma, Kristi, Marta, Mimi,
Omar, Tyrone, Roger, Natalie, Deb and Michelle are just a few of the many who
cared for her so well. We thank you sincerely. We would welcome your donation
to the Alzheimer's Association in Christine's name instead of flowers. A
funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, Jan. 17, at 10:00 a.m. at the
Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 East South Temple. The family will receive
friends on Sunday, Jan. 16, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, with a vigil service to be
held at 7:30 p.m. at Neil O'Donnell and Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South.

Bruehl, DeWayne D.
DeWayne D. Bruehl 6/1/40 ~ 1/13/05 MESQUITE, NEVADA - DeWayne Dean Bruehl was
born June 1, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph and Florence Ruby Boynton
Bruehl. He died January 13, 2005 at his home in Mesquite, Nevada. He had
worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years and had owned his own salon.
DeWayne was loved by many and will be missed by many. DeWayne is survived by
his companion Rosalie Quale, his two sons; Steve (Pam) Bruehl, Daniel
(Nannette) Bruehl; two daughters Tonya Sweat and Tamara (Mike) Gates;
stepchildren Reggi (Diane) Gessel, Pam (Steve) Bruehl, Mike Gessel and Dan
(Jodi) Quale; 20 grandchildren and two great grandchildren and many friends
and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeannie, his parents, his
brother, and his sister. An informal gathering will be held Sunday, January
16, 2005 from 6- 7:30 p.m. at the L.D.S. Whipple Chapel, located on Arrowhead

Burbidge, Chadwin Jones
Chadwin Jones Burbidge 1917 ~ 2005 Chadwin J. Burbidge, 87, passed away
Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at his residence in Tooele, Utah. He was born
December 29, 1917 in Kamas, Utah, the son of Anthon and Selena Burbidge. Chad
grew up in Murray. Attended Granite Junior High and High School, attended two
years at the University of Utah and later at-tended Utah State University. He
served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in
California. On October 7, 1941 he married Norma Dunford. The couple had six
children and lived in various locations in Utah, Idaho and Washington. Chad
served as a captain in the United States Army during World War II and was
stationed in Australia and the South Pacific. He had a varied and successful
professional life. He was a dairy farmer; automobile and farm implement
salesman, life insurance salesman and church custodian. He always made a
positive impact on people. He was one to help when help was needed. He enjoyed
singing and playing the banjo. He liked to work in the yard and garden. He was
a builder and a con-tractor. He was a hard worker and used to say, "There's no
fun like work". He served as Bishop in Tacoma and Elma, Washington. Chadwin
was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Donna and brother,
Anthony Keith Burbidge; Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Norma
Burbidge, sister Corris Ge-hring, brother Richard Burbidge, three sons and
spouses include Norwin and Karen Burbidge of Tumwater, WA, Lyle and Denise
Burbidge of Manches-ter, WA and Arlin and Cindy Bur-bidge of McCleary, WA.
Three daughters and spouses, Tom and Sheridan Stinebaugh of Moscow, ID, Len
and Laura Williams of Solon, OH and Rick and Raegan Ricks of Stans-bury Park,
UT. He had 31 grandchil-dren and 32 great grandchildren. The funeral will be
held Monday, January 17, 2005 at the LDS church in Elma, Washington beginning
at 11:00 a.m., preceded by a viewing at 10:00 a.m. Friends are invited to sign

David Butcher "Super Man" Our beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother, and
friend passed away unexpectedly January 10, 2005 in Los Angeles, CA. David was
born June 5, 1943 to Melvin Edward and Lovena Schofield Butcher, both
deceased. David came from a very large family of 15 children, Glen (Liz)
Butcher of Green River, WY, Maxine Yeager, deceased, Norman Butcher, deceased,
Shirley (Glenn) Nellen of Green River, WY, Lloyd Butcher, deceased, Don,
deceased (Shirley) of SLC, UT, Jerry (Pat) Butcher of Green River, WY, Bonnie
Bingham (Clyde - deceased) of Pinedale, WY, Joyce (Bill) Ward of Idaho Falls,
ID, Dennis (Lola) Butcher of Overton, NV, Larry (Delores) Butcher of Green
River, WY, Sherrie (Ace) Zenger of SLC, UT, Pat (Walt) Davies of SLC, UT, and
Susie (Ken) Whitehead of SLC, UT. David met Sue in the Spring of 1962 and she
quickly became his best friend and soul mate. They were married January 26,
1963; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple June 7, 2003. The Prince and
Princess Once apon a time there lived a train worker named david and girl
named Sue and then Sue said fix this train and he said as you wish your hiness
and she said thank you train worker and he said I love you and she I Love you
too. And then he said will you marie me and she said yes. And they got maried.
The End! By Nicole B. age 7 David worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 38
years until he retired June 5, 2003. After retiring, David and Sue moved to
Lancaster, California and were able to spend two years happily devoted to each
other. David and Sue have six children; and eight grandchildren, David
(Penny), Cory (Donna), Stacey (Mark) Argyle, Darcy (Ross) Parsell;
grandchildren, Amanda Lee, Tyler Alan, Kayla Marie, Zachary Colin, Ryan Allen
Clark, Courtney Nicole Clark, and Aubree Anne Argyle. David's mother, Lovena;

Vonda Hilda Kirkham Mendenhall Caine "Our Gramma" Our beloved mother,
grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away January l4, 2005. She was born
in Grace, Idaho July l4, l924 to John and Hilda Hawkins Kirkham and moved to
the Salt Lake Valley in l956. She fought until the very end. She was a hard
working farmer with a hand for healing and a love for animals. She worked as a
home health aid while maintaining a farm and raising her family. She was great
at healing animals and people. We Will Miss You, Gramma! Survived by
daughters, Kathy Dra-per, and Charlotte Kirk; son, Lynn Mendenhall; l5
grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
parents; all brothers and sisters; and two sons, Alan and Larry (Butch)
Mendenhall. The family would like to thank Jo from Heartwood Hospice for all
her care and special thanks to Diane for her loving care of mom. Funeral

Cameron, Charles Cullen
Charles Cullen Cameron "Charlie" Our loving father, grandpa, and friend,
Charles Cameron, passed away on January 12, 2005 from complications due to
heart surgery. Born August 18, 1925 to George and Anna Nokes Cameron, he
married Gisela Anita Zilonka on September 21, 1944. They later divorced but
remained good friends. Charlie put his heart into everything he did until his
heart finally gave out. As a young boy his strong work ethic was needed to
help support his family and continued throughout his adult life. He had a
successful career with Mountain Fuel Supply and retired in 1984 after 37 years
of service. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, where his
boxing skills earned him money and shore leave. He had a love of the outdoors
- fishing, golfing and especially watching his grandson play baseball. He was
the king of knick-knacks. He LOVED a good deal (whether he needed it or not),
LOVED to eat at a buffet and LOVED his little Yorkie, Phoebe. He delighted in
spending time with his family. His grandchildren meant everything to him.
Charlie felt that one of his greatest accomplishments was 17 years of
sobriety. Charlie is survived by his brother, John M. (Iris) Cameron; sister,
Georgie Breedlove, San Diego, CA; daughter, Patricia (Stu) Naisbitt of
Holladay, UT; son, Randy (Jane) Cameron of Cottonwood Heights, UT;
daughters-in-law, Donna Cameron of Poway, CA and Connie (John) Cameron of
Carlsbad, CA; grandchildren, Scott (Julie), Jandi, Megan (Jeremiah), Chase,
Jenny, Haley, Travis (Julie) and Tracie (Anthony); six great grandchildren and
best friend, Lucille Layland. Preceded in death by his son, Charles Ronald
Cameron and sister, Peggy Copeland. Funeral services will be held on Monday,
January 17, 2005 at 12:00 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Mortuary, 3115 E.

Cravens, Pearl Lemay Parker
Pearl Lemay Parker Cravens 1932 ~ 2005 Pearl Lemay Parker Cravens, 72, passed
away Jan. 14, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born February 26, 1932 in
Highmore, SD to Henry and Grace Parker. She graduated from Highmore High
School before joining the Army during the Korean War. She married G. Ralph
Cravens on December 11, 1952 at Ft. Belvoir, VA. After they were married,
Pearl and Ralph both attended Weber State College and Utah State University.
Her young married life was spent raising two daughters while residing in
mining towns in Venezuela, Peru and Chile before settling in Midvale, UT. Her
family was the major interest of her life and she did an excellent job raising
her children. Pearl worked for 15 years for the Salt Lake County Library
System before retiring at age 62. She was an avid reader and collector of
books. She also loved to dance and was a huge fan of the Lawrence Welk show.
Pearl was able to enjoy retirement for ten short years. The coldest winter
months were spent sitting on the beach in sunny Matzatlan, Mexico. The rest of
the year was spent in Midvale near her daughters and grandchildren. She kept
close ties with her family and friends in both Utah and South Dakota where she
was raised. Pearl was a long time member of the Midvale/Hilltop United
Methodist Church. Pearl is survived by her husband of 52 years, George Ralph
Cravens; two daughters, Bonnie (Craig) Blackson and Jean (Jim) Combs and
grandchildren Megan, Jamey, and Jillian Lemay. She is also survived by her
sisters, Norma Stoley of Huron, SD and Opal Mulkins of El Cajon, CA. Funeral
services Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State,
where a viewing will be held Sunday 6-8 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to
services. Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Park.

Peter Scott Degn 1949 ~ 2005 Peter Scott Degn passed away January 13, 2005 in
an automobile accident in Wyoming. He was born August 30, 1949 in Ogden, Utah
to Boyd S. and E. Mae Degn. He married Karen Anne Silver May 5, 1991 in
Holladay, Utah. Peter was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church and the past
president of Pot & Kettle International. He enjoyed camping, golfing and
attending air shows. He loved spending time with family and friends. His
grandchildren were the light in his heart. Survived by his wife, Karen;
children, Staci (Rich) Gordon, Jordan (Erin) Degn, Chelsea Degn and her
fianc , Brian, who also passed away in the accident, Ashley Degn (Scott,
friend); grandchildren, Ruby and Charlotte Gordon; siblings, Stephen (Connie),
Mike (Janet); nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Mark, Michael, David, Ken and
Dorothy Ann; father-in-law, Bill Silver; mother-in-law, By Bridges, whom

Gibbs, Charles
Charles Gibbs 1941 ~ 2005 Charles Ray (C.R.) Gibbs, 63, died suddenly but
peacefully at home on January 12, 2005, under a beautiful winter's night sky.
Charlie was born August 10, 1941 in Laramie, WY, the only child of Charles A.
and Dorothy Gibbs. He grew up in the Cowboy State and his early years saw him
active in 4-H and scouting where he attained the rank of Eagle. A very proud
member of Sheridan High School's class of '59, he was active in athletics,
theatre and journalism. It was there that he met Frankie Gillen, though their
romance would wait to blossom until they both attended and graduated from
Sheridan College, where he was student body president from 1960-61. After
honorably serving a Mormon mission to southern California and Arizona, Charlie
would later graduate from BYU in 1965 as the honor student in Communications.
On August 23, 1963 he married Frankie and 11 months later they became a family
of three with the birth of their son, Chad. In 1971, the family added another
member when Scott Breen came to live with them, who Charlie loved as another
son. An avid scuba diver, Charlie led an active and adventurous life that
included whitewater rafting throughout the West, skydiving and motorcycling.
When it came to driving, he was forever a truck man, with Willie Nelson
usually playing on the stereo. Children were drawn to his puckish nature and
he was always the willing jester of their court. Truth be known, Dad was a bit
of a nudist (just around the house, mind you), but when he did dress for the
outside world he thought yellow, purple or orange socks were the height of
fashion. He refused to wear white dress shirts and saw no problem with
sporting a propeller beanie to formal dinners. He was a ready volunteer to
anyone needing assistance. He was a friend to stalled motorists. He loved to
help others with their remodeling projects and was a handy electrician.
Charlie was never afraid to poke a finger in the eye of the powerful. Dad's
talent for refusing to blindly bow to authority was maddening, yet inspiring.
He taught those around him to ask questions, to read between the lines, be
ever observant, to take risk, but never take the little things for granted.
Governors, senators, even a prophet knew that Charlie would tell them what
they needed to know, not what they wanted to hear. He excelled in his career
and many sought his advice when it came to marketing new ideas. For several
years he hosted "Seven Scene," a weekly program on KUED where he interviewed
everyone from Alex Haley and Dr. Joyce Brothers to Benji the Dog. During his
tenure as a spokesman for the Mormon Church, he was instrumental in bringing
them positive national media recognition and publicity. Journalists from
around the country trusted and respected him. He met with three U.S.
Presidents and was active in both Republican and Democratic campaigns.
Candidates mattered more than parties. Dad's spirituality went through a grand
evolution. During the last 14 years he helped others work through their
addictions, and was thankful for all who helped him take those 12 steps. He
said if you wanted to better understand a higher power, skip church and find
someone to help. He ended every nightly prayer with, "Please help me do the
next right thing, and lead me to that person in need." We miss C.R. and he is
gone too soon, but we were blessed to have him as part of our small family. He
is survived by his mom, Dorothy (Sheridan, WY); wife, Frankie; son, Chad
(Quebec, Canada); Scott Breen and his sons Jake, Adam and Chris (Salt Lake
City). He is also survived by half sister Shirley Schmidt (Florida), and many
cousins. Hattie will miss her best friend and afternoon storyteller. He is
preceded in death by his father, Charch, and his favorite adopted yellow lab,
Max. A celebration of his life will be held Monday, January 17 at 11 a.m. at
Grand America in Ballroom A (555 S. Main St. Salt Lake City, UT). Please avoid
wearing white dress shirts, though brightly colored socks are encouraged. A
memorial service will also be held in Sheridan, Wyoming at a later date. In
lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to The Haven, Intermountain
Therapy Animals, or to the Sheridan College Foundation, P.O. Box 6328,
Sheridan WY, 82801.

Kent L. Grier 1960 ~ 2004 Kent Leonard Grier, age 44, passed away Friday,
December 31, 2004 in Heber City, Utah from an apparent heart attack. He was
born August 4, 1960 in Ogden, Utah to Robert E. and June Chader Grier. Kent
graduated from Salt Lake Community College in Printing, and worked for Hoffine
Printing in Salt Lake City. He loved the outdoors and adored his
grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Golda of Heber; daughter, Jennifer
Grier (Floriberto Rodriguez) of Heber; two stepchildren: Charles (Emily) Blair
of Heber and Chrystal Blair of Las Vegas, NV; mother, June Grier of Fruit
Heights, and father, Robert Grier of Leeds, UT; five grandchildren: Dakota,
Shaylynn and Dallas Blair of Heber, Miguel Salazar of Las Vegas, NV, and
Makayla Rodriguez of Heber. A memorial will be held for him on Tuesday, Jan
18, 2005, at 1 p.m. at the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, in Springville, 400

Rick Homer 1952~2005 Rick Homer died on a beautiful and sunny day on January
13, 2005 at home surrounded by his family. Rick's life was defined by love and
devotion for his family, who was blessed with 14 years of cherished time after
his heart transplant. Paula, Rick's loving wife of 30 years, was his best
friend and her dedication to his needs was remarkable. As a gentle, humble,
honest man, a wonderful husband, and great dad, Rick's life was an inspiration
to all those fortunate enough to have known him. Rick is survived by his wife
Paula (Koceja), sons: Joshua (Brandie), Jonathan and Jarron, his mother Donna
Homer, mother-in-law Maxine Koceja, sisters: Lesli (Michael), Kim (Ed),
brother Kelly (Brenda), and Papa's Madisen and grandson Nicholas, and many
in-laws, neices and nephews. Preceded in death by his father Richard Homer and

Betty Brown Horton 1924 ~ 2005 On a beautiful winter night our loving wife,
mother, grandmother and great-grandmother courageously passed away. Born June
1, 1924 in Bountiful, Utah to Mary and Eldon Brown. Married 63 years to Don
Horton January 5, 1941 and have called Murray, Utah home. She has a passion
for stuffed animals, a talent for upholstering, and a knack for making lemon
pies. She is survived by daughter, Donna (Dennis) Jacobson; three
grandchildren, Chad (Kelli) Jacobson, Paula (Scott) Wilberger, and Amy (Scott)
Hadley; and six and-a-half great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her
parents; and her son, Douglas. Friends and family may visit Tuesday, January

Hoxsie Jr., George Gordon
George Gordon Hoxsie, Jr. 1918 ~ 2005 George Gordon Hoxsie, Jr., age 87, died
Thursday, January 13, 2005, at his daughter's home in Salt Lake City, after a
long illness. Gordon was born January 5, 1918 in Magna, Utah to George Gordon
and Laura Anderson Hoxsie. He grew up in Salt Lake City where he was student
body president of South High School, graduating in 1935. He attended George
Washington University and graduated from the University of Utah where he
received a degree in history in 1939 and a law degree in 1941. A retired Salt
Lake City attorney and businessman, he was a man of many interests and had a
keen mind. He spoke several languages and traveled throughout the world. As a
youth he excelled in debate and became an Eagle Scout; and he always
encouraged his children and grandchildren to excel in their educational
pursuits. He particularly enjoyed playing chess with long-time friends, his
sons, son-in-law and his grandchildren. He is survived by nine children:
Laurie Steimle, Salt Lake City; George G. Hoxsie III (Kay), Mesa, AR; Michael
Hoxsie (Leslie), Ogden; Carmen Bullock (Richard), South Jordan; Kathy Hoxsie,
Logan; Gloria Chambers, Salem, OR; Eric Hoxsie, Salem, OR; Heidi Hoxsie-Barry
(Hal), Portland, OR; Hilary Ripley (William), Salt Lake City; three sisters:
Maleta Robinson, Fay Ashton and Donna Leverich, all of Salt Lake City; 25
grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his
parents; sister, Blanche Hoxsie; grandson, Jonathan Hoxsie, son-in-law, Dennis
Steimle; three brothers-in-law: Wilford Robinson, Lisle Ashton and James
Leverich. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005 at 12:00 noon

Jacobson, Gladys Slaugh
Gladys Slaugh Jacobson 1913 ~ 2005 Gladys Slaugh Jacobson, age 91, passed away
January 12, 2005 at the Uintah Care Center in Vernal. She was born February 4,
1913 in Vernal, Utah. She was the last surviving child of 13 children born to
George A. and Rachel Goodrich Slaugh. She married Byron Olaf Jacobson March
29, 1933 in Vernal. He died December 14, 1995. In Salt Lake, Gladys was
employed by Ringsby Truck Lines and the Utah National Guard. She and Byron
lived in Eastern Washington for 30 years where she was a secretary for Whitman
County. A multitalented woman, Gladys was a genealogist who researched and
compiled numerous family histories; she sang and played piano; tended her
garden; was an avid hiker of mountain trails. She was dedicated to her family
and the LDS Church. Gladys is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline (Pete)
Loyola, Grace Jerman; and stepdaughter, LaDonna (Nyle) Merkley; six
grandchildren, Derick, Lisa, Teresa Ann and Todd Loyola, Rachel and Eric
Jerman; six great-grandchildren, Whitney, Christian, Callie Olpin, Cole, Hanna
Palmer, Chloe Jerman. The family would like to thank the care givers at
Silverado Alzheimer Facility, and the Uintah Care Center for their loving
attention to our sweet mother. Funeral services will be held Friday, January
14, 2005, 11 a.m. in the Spafford Funeral Home in Vernal, and Monday at the
Union Park 7th Ward, 7500 South 7th East, 12 noon where family and friends may

Club, and Chapter S PEO. She is survived by: her daughter, Linda L. Jarboe of
Grapevine, TX; brother Russell K. Redenbaugh (wife, Janet) Salt Lake City;
nephews and nieces: Russell G. Redenbaugh, Philadelphia, PA; Jan Magleby,
Martha Maidana, Salt Lake City. Katherine F. Houser, niece and Douglas G.
Fowler, nephew of Cheyenne, WY. She had many wonderful cousins. Preceded in

Long, Barbara Pearl Brian Boehme
Barbara Pearl Brian Boehme Long 1921 ~ 2005 Our sweet mother and grandmother
passed away peacefully, surrounded by family January 15, 2005. Barbara was
born September 3, 1921 the daughter of William and Pearl Brian in Rexburg,
Idaho. She was the youngest of six children. She married her sweetheart, Ervin
F. Boehme, in Yuma, Arizona; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Together they had seven children. Ervin preceded her in 1988. She then married
Evan Long in 1996, he preceded her in 2004. Barbara had a love of music and
sang with many groups and led many choirs. She was a graduate of BYU and was a
lifetime teacher and mentor of youth. She loved gardening. She and Ervin
participated in many art and boutique shows. She was an active member of the
LDS church and held many callings. Barbara loved the Savior. Barbara is
survived by her children, Laraine (Steven) Bytheway, Lynn (Re-nee) Boehme,
Brian (Michelle) Boehme, Marlene (Bruce) Olsen, LeeAnn (Carl) Jackson,
Frederick (Kristy) Boehme, Carolee (Randy) Turner; 26 grandchildren; and 34
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Ervin
and Evan; four brothers; one sister; son-in-law, Bruce Olsen; and grandson,
Chris Olsen. The family would like to thank Avalon Valley Rehab for their

Maresh, John L.
John L. Maresh 1938 ~ 2005 John L. Maresh, age 66, Pierpont, OH, died January
12, 2005 at Geauga Regional Hospital, Claridon Twp., OH. He was born September
14, 1938 in Cleveland, OH and lived in Salt Lake City, UT before moving to
Pierpont two years ago. He worked in the Airfield Maintenance Division at the
Salt Lake City Airport for 15 years, retiring June 2001. He married Margaret
Melrose Jessop in Salt Lake City, January 4, 1992. Mr. Maresh was an avid
handyman and gardener. He loved working on his land, growing fruit, vegetables
and flowers. He enjoyed building, remodeling and was always helping others. He
taught his family to play cards and was always playing practical jokes. Mr.
Maresh was a member of the Cottonwood Murray Elks Lodge # 2344 in Salt Lake
City, UT. He had been an over the road truck driver, having seen 48 states and
Canada. He had logged over a million miles without an accident. Survived by
his wife, Margaret Maresh of Pierpont, OH; daughters, Kathy (Don) Starcher of
Chardon, OH, Mary Jessop of Salt Lake City, UT, Joni (Scott) Winger of Salt

Mauss, Margaret
Margaret Mauss 1912 ~ 2005 Margaret Ellsworth Mauss, age 92, passed away
Thursday, January 13, 2005 in Bountiful, Utah. Born November 30, 1912 in Salt
Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Ole Pettit and Sena Jensen Pettit. She
married Raymond G. Mauss February 17, 1932 in Ogden, Utah. He preceded her in
death April 24, 1977. She was a member of the LDS Church. Margaret was a good
and sweet lady and was loved by everybody, especially her cats. Survived by
Elaine Simmons who has been caring for her for the past 28 years; a cousin,
Wanda Morrison, Salt Lake City; and Betty Mauss DeBois Beck, niece by
marriage. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at 11:00
a.m. at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2020 S. 200 W. Friends may call Tuesday
morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N.
Main prior to services. Her friends want to thank the nurses at Rocky Mountain

Nancy Toombes McKee 3/30/22 ~ 1/7/05 Nancy was born in Spokane Washington.
Daughter of Guy Toombes and Blanche Toombes Fisher. Children, Anthony Engh who
preceded her in death and Kelly Senft, Vancouver B.C.; brother Guy Toombes
Jr., Salt Lake City; sister Ann Healy, Salt Lake City. Education: Wilson
School Spokane; Rowland Hall, Salt Lake City; Whitman College Walla Walla, WA;
University of Utah with undergraduate degree. Was active as a nurses aide at
St Marks Hospital and the Junior League of Salt Lake City. Active member of Pi
Beta Phi sorority at U of U. Memorial services will be held in White Rock B.C.
Nancy will be remembered by those who knew her for strong friendships and
great sense of humor.

Merriman, Dorothy Banister
Dorothy Banister Merriman 1918 ~ 2005 Passed away peacefully, following a
stroke, at St. Mark's Hospital January 13, 2005 in Salt Lake City, UT at the
age of 86. Dorothy was born to Frederick and Dorothy Banister in Pittsburgh,
PA and graduated from Wilkinsburg High School. Dorothy worked as a private
secretary at Westinghouse Air Brake in Pittsburgh, PA where she met her
husband, Charles, and they were married in 1941. Dorothy and Charles moved to
Washington, D.C. following Charles' military assignments and moved to Silver
Spring, MD in 1947 where they resided for 50 years, raising two children.
Dorothy was a longtime secretary at Our Saviour Episcopal Church in Hillandale
where she was an active member and held the position of "People's Warden" for
several years. Following Charles' successful military and civilian careers,
the raising of their children, and enjoyment of many years of swimming in a
back yard full of colorful azaleas, Dorothy and Charles moved to Salt Lake
City, UT to live close to their daughter, Nancy, and her husband, Jim Austin.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; aunts, Vera Welsh and Ivy
Cyphers; and her husband, Charles (recently, in early January 2004). Dorothy
is survived by her son, Ste-phen of Allen, Texas; and daughter, Nancy Austin
of Salt Lake City. She leaves two granddaughters, Christine Blackmon of Dover,
Delaware and Angela Wellein of Heidelberg, Germany; three grandsons, James
Merriman, William Merriman, and Ian Merriman, all of Allen, TX; a new
great-grandson, Curtis Blackmon; and of course, "Woody" her faithful dog.
Dorothy was a loving wife and dedicated caregiver, a great Mom, "Dee Dee" and
grandma, and a good friend to many over the years. She was extremely well
read, dedicated to serving her church, and always provided sage advice. She
will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by family members and friends in
Salt Lake City, the greater Washington, D.C. area, and elsewhere. At her
request, Dorothy will be cremated and her ashes will be buried next to her
husband's at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Salt Lake City, UT.

Clarence Walton Metcalfe 1926 ~ 2005 Clarence Walton Metcalfe, age 78, passed
away January 13, 2005. Born April 2, 1926 to Sam and Melissa Jane Woodland
Metcalfe in Talmage, Idaho. Married Mary Lou Skinner September 9, 1949 in the
Salt Lake Temple. He was active LDS and served in various callings. His
talents of music and poetry were loved by all. He is survived by his wife,
MaryLou; children, David (Pat) Metcalfe, Paul (Roberta) Metcalfe, Cindy Lou
(Thayne) Gooch, Kristy Lyn (Randy) Nelson; 27 grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clara Ra-bourn and Ethel Woolsey; sister-in-
law, Virginia Metcalfe. Preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford, Samuel;
and two sisters, Charlotte Christensen and Annie Goodenough. Funeral services
will be Tuesday, January 18, 2005, 12 noon at the Poplar Grove Ward, 1401 West
700 South. A viewing will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home,
4330 South Redwood Road and Tuesday 11-11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment,

Murphy, JoAnn
JoAnn Murphy 1952 ~ 2005 JoAnn passed away at her home on Monday January 10th
2005. She was born on July 13th, 1952 to John and Pat Murphy in Salt Lake
City. She married Jarl Ray Nielsen Sr. in 1968. They had four children and
later divorced. JoAnn was a very spirited woman who loved to have fun. She
enjoyed cooking and entertaining for family and friends. Being a grandmother
was one of her greatest joys. JoAnn is survived by her children, J.R. Nielsen
(Ross Sio), Amber Nielsen (Tom Davis), and Amanda Nielsen, aunt Noella
Nichols, sister Barbara Murphy, nephews Cody (Tina and Garret), Mar, and
Brandon; grandchildren Sean Patrick, Mashae, Chastin and significant other Dan
Lacey. Preceded in death by her parents and daughter (Kimmie Lynn). A catholic
mass will be held on Tuesday January 18th at 11:00 a.m. at St Martin De Porres
church, 4914 South 2200 West, where friends and family may call.

Norris, Clara R.
Clara R. Norris "Grandma" Clara Charlotte Norris passed away Friday, January
14, 2005 in Orem, Utah, at age 84. She was born August 31, 1920 in Widtsoe,
Garfield County, Utah, the first child of William and Nora Pinney Rose. She
grew up with her two brothers in Widtsoe until the family moved to Monroe,
Sevier County. She graduated from South Sevier High School in 1938. She served
a Northwestern States mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints in 1942-43. She married Frederick C. Norris September 15, 1947 in the
Salt Lake Temple. He passed away December 9, 1995. Her home and family were
her life. She was a great wife, mother, and grandmother. We will all miss her
cookies and banana bread. She served in several church callings over the
years, but her favorite, by far, was serving many years in the Primary with
the children. Clara is survived by three children: Douglas (Marlene), Darlene
(Neil) Peterson, and Preston (Colleen); Eleven grandchildren: Christopher,
Marianne, Allison, Gregory, Jenny, Jamie, Alan, Kristi, Kimberly, Caroline,
Phillip, and one great-grandson, Lyndon, also, sister-in-law, LaVon Norris.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Homer Wayne Rose and W. Merritt
Rose. Graveside services will be held Tues., January 18, 2005 at 12 Noon at
the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Avenue & N St. Family and friends may call
from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, and Tues.
from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the graveside. The family would like to express
their appreciation and thanks to Renee, Bethany and all the staff of Golden
Living Orem for their care of our mother during the last year and a half. We

Ottley, Ella Park
Ella Park Ottley 1912 ~ 2005 Our dear, sweet mother, grandmother, and
great-grandmother, Ella V Park Ottley, passed away January 15, 2005 in Murray,
Utah. She was born July 2, 1912 in Millcreek, Utah to James Vernal and Ida Mae
Nelson Park. She married John Grayson Ottley August 16, 1948 in the Salt Lake
LDS Temple. He died December 7, 2000. Ella was a sweet and caring person. She
loved her family and took good care of them. She was a wonderful caretaker,
always putting the needs and feelings of others before those of her own. One
of her grandsons said, "If you were down, you could always go to grandma's for
a meal and some sympathy." Ella is survived by her children, Wanda Willett,
Kathryn Olson, Susan Eckroth, and Randy Littlefield; grandchildren, Jesse
Whitefield, Gregory Eckroth, Kelli Eckroth, Christi Littlefield, Michelle
Willett, and Elizabeth Willett; great-grandchildren, Grayson, Adrianna,
Jeremy, and one great-grandson on the way. Ella, we love you and will miss you
so much. Our lives will never be the same without you in them. A special

Pace, Bernice Anderson
Bernice Anderson Pace 10/25/17 ~ 1/12/05 Our mother, sister, aunt and friend,
Bernice Anderson Pace, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, Jan. 12,
2005, causes incident to age. Bernice was born in Eureka, Utah on Oct. 25,
1917 to Flora Naef and Berdell Anderson. She lived most of her adult life in
Los Angeles and retired from the Los Angeles School District. After her
husband passed away Bernice returned to Salt Lake to be near her family.
Bernice was an accomplished pianist. She will be missed by her family and
friends. Survived by sisters: Maxine (Burt) Butterworth, Gloria (Leo) Sanchez,
Carol McIntire; brother, Harold (Barbara) Franks; daughter-in-law Sharon Pace
and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents; husband Edward
J. Pace; son Edward K. Pace and brother, Tom. Graveside services will be held
1:00 p.m., Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401

Parke, Aline Durfey
Aline Durfey Parke 1909 ~ 2005 Aline Durfey Parke, loving mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away January 12, 2005 in
American Fork, Utah. She was 95 years of age. With her loving husband once
again. She was born December 13, 1909 in Beaver Dam, Box Elder County, Utah to
Francillo Findley Durfey II and Mary Elizabeth Wood. She was the 2nd
great-granddaughter of Heber C. Kimball. Aline loved her pioneer history and
the great town of Beaver Dam. She married Elbert Ernell Parke June 7, 1939 in
Logan, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized June 3 1964 in Salt Lake Temple.
Ernell "Red" preceded her in death November 21, 1972 in Salt Lake. Aline
attended District School in Beaver Dam, Box Elder High School, and LDS
Business College in Salt Lake. She loved her family so very much. She was 11
years old when her mother died due to complications from child birth of twins.
Aline, the oldest, accepted the responsibility to help raise her brothers and
sisters. Active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and
loved serving in various callings in the church until her health failed her.
Aline lived in Salt Lake all of her married life. She was a member of Valley
View Stake, Valley View 6th Ward until one year ago. She is presently a member
of American Fork 19th Ward, American Fork, Utah. Member Daughter's of Utah
Pioneers Chapter Alpha Bolton. She was a widow for 32 years and kept a
beautiful yard with roses and peonies as well as raspberries. She loved to
ride horses and loved animals of every kind. Music was a great joy to her. She
is survived by two sons, Charles Curtis (Marva Taylor), Highland, UT, and
Duane Durfey (Margaret Lemon), American Fork, UT; one daughter, Mary Louise
(Alton Jacob "Ajay") Gerritsen, Salt Lake, Utah. She received so much joy from
her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchil-dren and praised them
continually. She had 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren at time of
her death. Aline is also survived by her sister, Thora Peterson of Richland,
Washington as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by two
sisters, Carma Johnson, Dorothy Durfey (twin to brother Dal); brothers, Ross,
Theo (Buck), Dallon (Dal) Durfey. She filled her life with dignity and died
peacefully. The family would like to thank everyone for the love and care
shown to Aline in the 32 years as a widow. Family wishes to offer a special
loving thanks to Dr. Jennifer Norris and Dr. David Curtis at St. Mark's
Hospital. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 17, 2005 at 11 a.m. in

Payne, Earl Sherman
Earl Sherman Payne 1922 ~ 2005 SYRACUSE - Earl Sherman Payne, 82, left this
earthly life to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 12, 2005. We will miss
his kind and loving ways, but he will live on in our hearts until we meet
again. He was born Dec. 3, 1922 in Paul, Idaho, son of George Myron and Ethel
Burton Payne. He grew up on the family farm in Syracuse, Utah. On August 8,
1942, he married Della Phillips. His distinguished military career included
service in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was awarded Distinguished Flying
Cross, Air Medal with two Oak Clusters, Air Medal with six Oak Clusters,
Defense Service Ribbon, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal,
Air Force Commendation Medal, Vietnam Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service
Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Longevity Service Medal,
National Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory
Medal. He retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1972. He retired to the family farm in
Syracuse where he built his own house, was a gentleman farmer, and pursued a
second career in the auto salvage business. Earl was a kind and patient man
who was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, as well as good and
helpful friend to many, many people. He will be very much missed by all who
know and love him. He was preceded in death by his father George Myron Payne,
his mother Ethel Burton Payne, his infant son Roger Lee Payne, his brothers
Burton Payne and Noel Payne, his sister Marian Jorgensen, and his wife Della
Phillips Payne. He is survived by his sons David E. Payne of Paris, ID; Donald
K. Payne (Lori) of Syracuse, UT; R. Allen Payne (Pegan) of Bolinas, CA; and
Christopher D. Payne (Lori) of Oakland, CA; his grandchildren Philip Payne and
Mitchell Payne of Syracuse, UT; and Marshall Payne and Clara Payne of Bolinas,
CA; his brother Kenneth R. Payne (Donna) of Syracuse, UT; and his sister Cleo
Bowyer of Salt Lake City, UT. A memorial service will be held Monday, Jan. 17,

Lucille Warby Prows "Together Again" Lucille Alice Warby Prows peacefully
passed away January 14, 2005 in the loving arms of her family. She was born
July 27, 1925 in Beaver, Utah to William Edward and Lucy Phoebe White Warby.
She married her sweetheart, Jean William Prows May 22, 1943 in Beaver, Utah.
Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her
in death, January 2, 2004. Lucille was a member of the LDS Church, serving in
many callings. She loved to cook and was a skilled canner keeping up with her
husband's abundant garden, but her family was her ultimate joy. Lucille is
survived by her children, Lynnea "Lynn" (Jim) Beacht, Lorraine (Curt)
Haviland, Douglas (Janet), Pen-ny Prows, Kayleen (Allan) McQueen; 15
grandchildren; 15 great-grand-children; brothers, William E. (Georgean) Warby
Jr, and James A. Warby; sister, Mary Lou Myers. Preceded in death by son,
Craig W.; brother, Burton Warby; and sister, Ellen Gillins. Funeral services

Quinn, Mildred Jane Middleton
Mildred Jane Middleton Quinn 1915 ~ 2005 On January 13, 2005 our beautiful and
talented mother left us, softly, sweetly and peacefully. Supporting her in
this transition, with tender care, was her family. Mildred was born in Logan,
Utah on November 30, 1915. She was the only child of Edwin and Mabel Green
Middleton. She attended Logan High School and Utah State University. She
married Charles C. Quinn May 5, 1937; later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. He
preceded her in death on March 12, 1987. After her children were raised,
Mildred worked as a secretary in the Granite School District at Evergreen
Junior High School. Mother amazed many by her talents. She knit for friends
and family for over 60 years. She also did a generous amount of cross-stitch,
crochet, needlepoint, quilting, ceramics, and made her own chocolates. To
everyone's benefit, she lovingly gave most of what she made away and we
treasure her gifts, which celebrate her life. Because her children and
grandchildren were under he tutelage, her many talents will be carried on. Her
favorite time of the year was Christmas. For years, she created theme
Christmas trees, trimmed in hand-made ornaments. Her trademark was her
exquisite Father Christmas'. Mildred loved company and was most happy when
friends and family were at her side. And this is how her life ended; doing
what she loved the very most, with her family in joyful reminiscing. Mildred
is survived by her four children: Linda (Wayne) Peck, Patty (Stanford) Reid,
Chuck (Lavin) Quinn and Jane (Craig) Larson; 18 grandchildren, 45 great
grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She also leaves the many friends
she cherished. Please join us in a celebration of life Monday, Jan. 17, 2005

Rand, Alan Vincent
Alan Vincent Rand 1924 ~ 2005 Alan Vincent Rand passed away peacefully from
natural causes Wed-nesday, January 12, 2005 at the age of 80 years. He was
born December 1, 1924 in Portland, Oregon to Harvey Rand and Mable Downey. He
married Caryl Alexander, with whom he had six children, and later divorced. He
married Bertha Setterberg August 9, 1984. He was an employee of the Utah State
Maintenance Depart-ment. He joined the Army and served in World War II. After
retirement he was an active member of the American Legion Post 77 serving as
commander for several years. He was also a member of the Exchange Club of
Sandy. He enjoyed singing, boxing, and weightlifting. Alan is preceded in
death by his parents; a brother and a sister; and his son, Dale. He is
survived by his wife, Bertha; his sons, Doug (Ann), David (Rene), Bill
(Tamie), Jon (Loree); his daughter, Jody; stepdaughters, Laura Christensen,
Karen (Gil) Lucero; stepson, Allan (Ellen) Setterberg; many grandchildren; and
several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Olwell. Funeral services will
be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500

Riding, Robert G.
Robert G. Riding 1920 ~ 2005 RICHFIELD, UT - Robert "Bob" Gates Riding, age
84, died January 10, 2005 in Richfield, Utah. He was born August 6, 1920 in
Gunlock, Utah a son of Robert Liester and Zoe Gates Riding. He graduated from
Enterprise High School, Class of 1937, and served in the U.S. Army from 1939
to 1945. While in the army he worked on the Alcan High-way, he landed on Utah
Beach and he fought at the Battle of the Bulge. Bob married Norma Simpson,
April 19, 1945 in Elko, Nevada. She died May 31, 1971. He married Evelyn Greer
in October of 1975 in Ogden, Utah and she died in May of 1976. Bob married
Ovedia Moe, in April of 1978 in San Diego, California. They were married for
21 years and later divorced. Bob worked for the U.S. Government as a
machinist. He was a member of the LDS Church. Bob was an avid fisherman and
hunter and he enjoyed woodworking, gardening and camping. He is survived by
his children, Steven G. and Gayle S. Riding of Richfield, UT, Karen L. and
Clay Lacefield of Louisville, KY; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren;
brothers and sisters, Ralph and Marjorie Riding, Clearfield, UT, Kay and
Charles Micle of Bulger, PA, Frank and Sue Riding of Atascadero, CA, Delores
Riding Moore of Parowan, UT, Augustus "Gus" Amarillas of Granada Hills, CA;
numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a
daughter, Barbara Riding Rigby Kuss; a sister, Laura A. Amarillas; and two
brothers, Merl M. Riding and Percy "Jack" Riding. Funeral services will be
held Wed-nesday, January 19, 2005, 12 noon in the Lindquist's Clearfield

Rodriguez, Edgardo Daniel "Eddie"
Edgardo "Eddie" Daniel Rodriguez "Fast Eddie" Edgardo "Eddie" Rodriguez passed
away on January 11, 2005. Our son, brother, uncle and friend will be greatly
missed by many. Born October 17, 1962 in Montevideo Uruguay. His family moved
to Salt Lake City in 1970. Eddie graduated from East High School in 1982 and
the University of Utah in 1986. He is survived by his parents, Mabel and
Heber, his life partner Shawna (Bentley), his brothers Alex (Jade) and Bob,
Liz, Stephanie and Brandon, his uncle Alfredo, cousins Gabriel, Jorge, Oscar,
Claudia, Daniel, Hector, Jorge Sosa, Teresa, Maria Dell Carmen, Ivonne. Aunts
Mary Carmen, Mirtha Rene, Nelly Esther. His niece and nephews Alixandra, Jace
and Camdyn, plus additional aunts, uncles and cousins, and an endless number
of friends. Eddie was very special, born without hands, he conquered every
task he took on. Not only was he one of the best soccer players this state has
seen, he played pool at tournament levels and had a 180 bowling average. There
was nothing he couldn't do! He was a winner! Everyone who met Eddie remembered
him. His comment afterwards was always, "after all these years, how'd they
recognize me?" His favorite teams were the Yankees, Cowboys, Jazz, Utes, and,
"whoever was playing BYU." Favorite musical artists: Jimmy Buffet & the king,
Frank Sinatra. Other favorites: Vegas & Blackjack, Wyoming Downs, a good
argument, and his newest hobby, sailing the Great Salt Lake. Eddie worked for

Schelin, James Lloyd
James Lloyd Schelin "JIMBO" 1963 ~ 2005 James Lloyd Schelin passed away
January 13, 2005. He was born in Salt Lake City April 3, 1963 to Thomas and
Colleen Sche-lin. Jimbo was an accomplished chef who spent many years in the
food service industry. He is survived by the love of his life, Julie Nily
Schelin; as well as brothers and sisters including devoted brother Randy
(Nanette), Timothy, Tracee Brosius (Jim), Susan Orr (John); and nieces and
nephews, Kristin Schelin, Skylar Brosius, Cameron Brosius, Tommie Orr, Blake
Orr, Jack Orr, Colin Orr, and Tess Orr. The family wishes to thank the people
at Sinclair Oil for embracing Jimbo. We all appreciate your support and

Schroader, Ruth Evelyn Grow
Ruth Evelyn Grow Schroader 1908 ~ 2005 CLINTON - Ruth Evelyn Grow Schroader,
formerly of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away Friday, January 14, 2005, due to
causes incident to age. She was 96 years old. Ruth was born November 12, 1908
in Salt Lake City, Utah the last surviving of nine children born to William
Henry Grow, Jr. and Ann Elisabeth Adams Grow. She was a granddaughter of Henry
Grow, designer/architect of the Salt Lake LDS Tabernacle roof. He was building
superintendent for Brigham Young and constructed numerous buildings and
bridges under his direction. Ruth married Herbert F. Schroader in Kimball,
Nebraska. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. She was
a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a
member of the Colonial Hills Ward in Salt Lake City where she taught Sunday
School. She was very independent and a generous person with a strong work
ethic. She loved things of beauty which was manifested in every aspect of her
life. Herbert spent his career in the U.S. Army Air Corp Band and the U.S. Air
Force. During World War II Ruth and her family of five children lived in
several western states. After the war they settled in Layton, Utah where
Herbert was stationed at Hill Air Force Base and Ruth went to work as a
civilian at the air base. She spent the latter part of her tenure at the
Department of Defense (DOD) on Second Street in Ogden, Utah. The family moved
back to Salt Lake City in 1953 and Ruth retired after 15 years of service.
Herbert also retired from Hill AFB but passed away Dec. 14, 1967. Ruth never
remarried and remained a widow for 37 years. She resided in her Salt Lake home
that she loved until she was 92. At that time she moved to Clinton, Utah in
the Country Pines Retirement Home to be near most of her family. She is
survived by one daughter, LaRae Schroader Townsend (Russell) of Rancho
Murieta, CA; and three sons, Gary L Schroader (Patricia) of Roy, UT, Fred H
Schroader (Lynn) of Layton, UT, Jack L. Schroader of Holladay, UT. Her eldest
son, Ronald R. Schroader (Guilda) of Layton, UT preceded her in death. She had
33 grandchildren (five deceased); 66 great-grandchildren (one deceased); and
12 great great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January
18, 2005, 12 noon at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, UT.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services. Interment, Larkin Sunset

Scott, Melvin Barnes
Melvin Barnes Scott 1912 ~ 2005 A much loved husband, father, grandfather,
great-grandfather and friend died of cardiac disease January 13, 2005. He was
born in Winder (Holladay), Utah September 24, 1912 to John Lawson and Minnie
Oliver Scott. In August 1924, Mel, his parents, and three sisters moved from
Holladay to Salt Lake City. Shortly after the move Mel's father died. Losing
his father at the tender age of 12 had a deep and lasting impact on his life.
Mel married Margaret (Peggy) Driscoll May 18, 1934 in the Salt Lake Temple.
They enjoyed nearly 60 years together before Peggy, our bright and shining
star, died January 15, 1993. Dad was privileged to meet Maralyn Holley and
they married in the Salt Lake Temple May 8, 1999. Mel worked for many years as
sales manager for Maycock Food Brokerage Co. He faithfully fulfilled various
positions in the West 11th and 11th Wards (where he was a member for 81
years); and the Salt Lake Central Stake, ward clerk (1948-1960), bishop
(1960-1966), high council (1966-1976), bishop (1977-1978), stake presidency
(1978-1985) and stake president (1985-1988). Preceded in death by parents;
brothers, Rulon and Easton; sisters, Fanny Ridges, Olive Bennett, and Luella
Scott; and wife, Peggy. His wife, Maralyn; sons, Michael B. (Lynda), Murray,
Steven J. (Carol), Holladay; stepchildren, Randall Beadleson, Los Angeles, CA,
Sandra Weagraff (Patrick), Sacramento, CA, Brett Beadleson (Robin), Minnesota,
Bart Beadleson (Marlene), Florida; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchil-dren;
sister-in-law, Helen Frazier Scott; and many friends and fans survive him. The
family wishes to thank his family of caregivers, Dr. Imran Zubair, and his
staff and Alpine Hospice Services, for their exceptional kindness and care.
Mel's children wish to express their love and appreciation to Maralyn for her
devotion to Mel. They were very much in love. Funeral services will be held

Searle, Wilma Damron
Wilma Damron Searle 1917 ~ 2005 BOUNTIFUL- Wilma Damron Searle, age 87, died
peacefully in her sleep at home, Wednesday, January 12, 2005. Wilma was born
October 9, 1917 in Deseret, Utah to Alfred Raymond Damron and Eliza Luetta
Black Damron. She was the third of five children. She married Archie Allen
Searle on July 27, 1937 in Holden, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt
Lake LDS Temple on April 1, 1940. Mom endured many hardships as a result of
losing her mother at age 11. The responsibility of the household and raising
siblings fell upon her shoulders. This gave her the experience she needed to
raise her own five children. Mom has always loved sports, from playing
competitive softball as a young mother, to watching the Jazz as a
great-grandma. She also loved to read, sew, quilt and crochet. At the age of
86 she lovingly made and delivered 22 quilts to her great-grandchildren. Mom's
top priority in life was her family. She was a dedicated wife, mother and
homemaker. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints holding many positions including serving on the Stake
Primary Board for eight years, conference talk courier and working in member
locator services. After dad retired in 1981, they served a mission at the
Jonathan Browning Homes in Nauvoo, IL. This was one of the highlights of their
lives. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Wilma is
survived by her two sons, Kenneth Archie (Thora), Tooele; Stephen R. (Linda),
Bountiful; and three daughters, Colone Layton (Stan), Bountiful; Connie Royall
(Dan), Centerville; and Chanel Rehn (Jeff), St. George. Also survived by her
sister Belle Bohn (Jay); 18 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. Mom
joined her eternal companion of 65 years and in doing so has left a legacy of
hard work, honesty and love that will be carried on through their posterity.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 17, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the
Mueller Park 3rd Ward Chapel, 1825 South 800 East, Bountiful. Friends and
family may call Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers

Semken, Charles
Charles Semken "Chuck" PRICE - Charles Henry Semken, age 79, passed away
January 14, 2005 in Price. Born April 29, 1925 in Moab, Utah to Charles Henry
and Chlora Hyatt Semken. Married Joyce Call January 2, 1948 in Price; later
divorced. Married Madelyn Peterson, December 2, 2003 in Price, Utah. Chuck was
an avid sports enthusiast who loved BYU football and was also honored on the
Utah State Athletic Hall of Fame. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing
with his buddies, hunting, handball, golfing, and bowling. Honorably served
his country in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II in the Pacific Theatre
and was a member of the Marine Corp League #515. Chuck retired as a Deputy
Sheriff from the Carbon County Sheriff Department, where he was recognized
three times for his superior marksmanship in the state. Former president of
the Utah State Peace Officers Association and chairman for the State Youth
Parol Board. He also worked at Price River Coal Company where he was the local
president and while living in San Diego, California he owned and operated his
own business. Chuck was active with the youth and he started the Carbon County
Junior League, and Christmas Is For Kids in Wellton, Arizona and San Luis,
Mexico. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints and will be dearly missed by his family and a community of friends.
Survived by his wife, Madelyn Semken, Price; son, Michael (Francine) Semken,
Orem; three daughters, Susan (Steven) Blake, American Fork, Shanna (William)
Taylor, Price, Renee Prinvale, San Mateo, CA; stepchildren, Sue (Scott) Heino,
Price, Michael (Wendy) Smith, LaVerkin, Corey (Genefer) Smith, Carbonville,
Corinna (Elvin) Anderson, Price; sister, Norma Baker, Price; sister-in-law,
Byllee Semken, Price; and numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Mae and Allie; brother, Lee; grandson,
Steven Prinvale. Funeral service, Monday, January 17, 2005, 11 a.m., Price

Norma Marie Silveira "Grammie" Our beloved Norma, age 69, passed away
Thursday, January 13, 2005. She was unconditionally loved by her family and
friends. Norma was born October 20, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Charles
and Margaret Spainhower. She married Victor Silveira September 12, 1952. She
is preceded in death by parents; her husband, Victor; and son, John. She is
survived by her sons, Duff and David (Teresa); her daughter, Debra (Dirk); her
daughter-in-law, Vickie; five wonderful grandchildren; and 11
great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret (Don) and Marsha (George); brothers,
Jack (Vicky), Chuck (Gloria), Calvin; and her nieces and nephews. Funeral
services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at Lake Hills Memorial
Mortuary, 10055 South State Street in Sandy. A viewing will be held at the

Lindalee Smith 1964 ~ 2004 Linda lee was born May 25, 1964 in Bozeman, MT. She
spent her childhood in Bozeman and Lola, MT. Married Robert Smith in 1983. She
was pretty, smart and musically inclined. Played the guitar, piano and sang
beautifully. She was challenged in this life with ADHD and addiction. Survived
by husband, Robert; son, Axl (15); daughter Chanceine (10); mother, Linda
Sweasey; parents-in-law, Mac and Kay McNew, all Utah; adopted father, David
Orbe, Montana; brother, Dana Orbe, Washington; grandmother, Annalee Purdy,
Bozeman, MT; Preceded in death by infant son, Chance; grandparents, Chris and
Pauline Schlechten, Bud Purdy and Margaret Massie. A memorial services will be
held 3 p.m. Friday Jan. 21st, at Mt Tabor Lutheran Church, 175 South 700 East.

Sutton, John Norwood
John Norwood Sutton "Sut" John Norwood Sutton was born March 23, 1916 the son
of Harvey and Ellen Oleson Sutton at Lisbon, North Dakota. He grew up and
attended schools in Lisbon, graduating from the Lisbon High School in 1934.
Sut as he was known by many, started his career in watch repair in 1935 in
Lisbon. He later moved to Lewistown, Montana where he worked as a watch
repairman. Sut enlisted in the US Marine Corp, he served in the Pacific
Theater and achieved the rank of Platoon Sgt. He was honorably discharged in
1946. Sut returned to Lewistown where he met his future wife, Vera Stevenson.
They were united in marriage June 10, 1950 near Merrill, Wisconsin at a small
Bible Camp. In 1956 Sut and Vera with two small children moved to Evanston,
Wyoming where they purchased the Jewelry Store. Together they operated it and
raised their family for the next forty plus years. Sut was a past president of
the Inner Mountain Jewelers Association, a member of the American Gem Society,
a life member of the Evanston V.F.W. and the Elks Club. Sut was an avid skier
and golfer of many years. Sut really enjoyed skiing after the age of 80 since
most of the ski resorts would give a free lift pass to anybody over this age.
He always stated that now I am finely getting some of my money back. Even
after his by pass surgery his plan was to return to the slopes. His special
love was always for his wife, Vera, who passed away in 1990; his children; and
his two granchildren. Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Sutton of Salt Lake
City, UT; a son, Keith Sutton of Evanston, WY; two grandchildren, Brittany and
Chase Sutton; also many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at
the Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston, WY Tuesday at 2 p.m. Burial with
military honors will be in the Evanston Cemetery. Crandall Funeral Home of
Evanston, WY and the Stevenson's Funeral Home of Baker, MT is in charge of the
arrangements. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior
to the service.

Tilt, Signe Pearson
Signe Pearson Tilt 9/1/18 ~ 1/14/05 Our loving wife, mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother, and sister, Signe P. Tilt, passed away January 14, 2005.
She was born September 1, 1918 in Eksharad, Sweden to Hjalmar E. Pearson and
Ida Karolina Jonsson. Emigrated to Minneapolis, MN in 1923, where the family
earned U.S. citizenship. She graduated from school in Minneapolis, worked as a
secretary in Minneapolis and Los Angeles, CA. She joined the WAAC and served
in the U.S. Air Force in World War II. She married Lloyd V. Tilt in 1944 in
High Wycombe, England. At the end of World War II she settled in Salt Lake
City with husband, Lloyd. She is survived by her husband; four children,
Marsha (Steven) Warr, Lloyd II (Prilla), Edward (Faye), and Linda (Curtis)
Dumas; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Inez
living in St. Paul, MN. Preceded in death by parents; and sister, Anne. Signe
enjoyed handicrafts, including sewing, knitting, and quilting. She served many
years as a genealogist, specializing in Scandinavian languages. She loved
spending time with her family. Funeral services will be held Wed-nesday,
January 19, 2005, 12 noon at Deseret Memorial Mortuary, 36 East 700 South,
Salt Lake City. A viewing for family and friends will be held Tuesday, January
18, from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday, January 19, 11-11:45 a.m. at Deseret Memorial

Anna Beth Blackhurst Wallace 1932 ~ 2005 Anna Beth Blackhurst Wallace passed
January 12, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born May 22, 1932 to Oren
and Effie Blackhurst. She married Dale L. Wallace in Elko, Nevada September 2,
1967. She worked for US West for 32 years. She is survived by her husband,
Dale; sisters-in-law, Wanda Aguirre, Charla Erickson; and brother-in-law, Jay
Wallace. A very special thanks to Gerri and Dean Nielson. The family would
like to thank the nurses and staff at Federal Heights Rehabilitation and

Wayman, Dr. Charles Larry
Dr. Charles Larry Wayman "Dr. Larry" Dr. Larry was born on May, 31, 1942 and
died Jan. 14, 2005 after a courageous battle with a lingering illness. He was
the oldest child of Drs. Hugh C. Wayman and Jean Chatterton Wayman in Los
Angeles, CA. Larry was raised in Salt Lake City and attended Granite High
School and graduated in 1961. He attended cosmetology school for a short time.
He decided to join the Navy in 1961, stationed in San Diego and Hawaii. After
returning home in 1965, he worked for Stein Ericksen Lodge as a cook and
continued going to cosmetology school. Ready for a change, he went to Los
Angeles, CA for his Chiropractic degree, graduating in 1966. He married Jeri
Taylor Wayman, Sept. 23, 1966, later divorced in 1984. He started his
Chiropractic practice in 1970. He loved taking care of people, maintaining a
successful practice for over 34 years. He was a member of the Chiropractic
Knights, making life long friends and brothers. He loved life, family,
friends, chiropractic seminars, boating, camping, four wheeling, and his gold
wing motorcycle. Special thanks to the Knights, especially Drs. Fore,
McKenzie, and Heese. Also J.C. his son for his unwavering love and devotion.
He never gave up. Larry is survived by his parents, sister; Linda Hagan, son;
J.C. (Jodi) Wayman, daughter; Sandy (Dr. Dan) Monson, three grandchildren;
Justin, Brandon, and Krysten. In addition, step children; Angie (Rom), and
Jason Smith.

Wilcox, Ida Corbett Nuttall
Ida Corbett Nuttall Wilcox 1910 ~ 2005 HEBER CITY, UT - Ida Wilcox, 94, passed
away at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Heber City, Utah Thursday, January 13,
2005. Ida was the fourth daughter born to Frank L. And Annie Nyman Corbett
June 7, 1910 in Smithfield, Utah. On September 29, 1928 she married Quentin
Glen Nuttall. Three children were born to this union. He died in February
1935. In 1981 she married Wayne Wilcox. Ida worked for J.C. Penney Company for
20 years to support her children. Becoming the first female department manager
for the J.C. Penney Company. She is survived by her children, Dr. Frank Q.
(Barbara) Nuttall, Norman D. (Sandra) Nuttall, Anna Lue (James) Williams;
stepchildren, Donna Augsberger and Larry Wilcox; sisters, Jane (Wayne) Rich,
Wanda Taker, Donna Lue (Lamont) Pierce. She was preceded in death by her
parents; husband; sisters, Emily, Alba, Leatha, and Gurnell. We wish to thank
everyone at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Heber City for their loving care.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 18, 12 noon at Allen-Hall
Mortuary, 34 East Center St., Logan, Utah. A viewing will be held one hour

Winder, Pamela M.
Pamela M. Winder 1934 ~ 2005 Pamela M. Winder passed away from natural causes
January 14, 2005. Pamela was born June 18, 1934 in Tamaroa, Illinois the
daughter of James and Mabel Martin. Shortly after her birth the family moved
to DuQuoin, Illinois. She attended school in DuQuoin, and graduated with
honors in 1952 from DuQuoin High School. Following her schooling in DuQuoin,
Pamela attended Stevens College in Columbia, Missouri graduating with an
Associate Degree in 1954. In 1955 Pamela entered the University of Utah. It
was there that she met her future husband, David. They were married June 24,
1955, and Pam and Dave then moved to Palo Alto, California where Dave attended
law school. During the law school years, Pam worked as a clerk at Palo Alto
Hospital. Without her salary from the hospital and the G.I. Bill, the couple
would never have made it through law school. On June 17, 1958 Dave graduated
from law school, and on that same date the couple's first child, Ann, was
born. She was followed by a daughter, Kay, in 1960, and a son, James, in 1964.
During this time Pam was completely committed to her family. She was a
wonderful wife and mother. After her children had all reached their teens, Pam
looked around for something to occupy her time. She had long been a voracious
reader and even when the children were younger she had attained a reputation
as a book reviewer. She accepted a job as an assistant librarian at Highland
High School. She worked there part-time for approximately eight years, and
then transferred to Rowland Hall. She thoroughly enjoyed both of these jobs
and particularly liked the involvement with the students and her co-workers.
Pam was a very private person and liked nothing better than curling up along
with a good book. Her enjoyment of reading was only surpassed by her interest
in her five grandchildren. These grandchildren range in age from 28 to two
years, and Pam loved and had a keen interest in all of them. Pamela is
preceded in death by her mother and father, Mabel and James Martin. She is
survived by her husband; her three children and spouses, Ann (Larry) Bugni,
Kay (James) Mit-chell, James (Shawn Apgood) Winder; and five grandchildren,
Laura Bugni, Tony Bugni, Andrew Bugni, David Mitchell, and Alexandria Winder.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2005, 12 noon at the
United States Courthouse, 350 South Main St., SLC, Utah, room 246. (Second
floor). In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the charity of your

Workman, Merlin Horne
Merlin Horne Workman 30 December 1923 "Cruising Again" On January 13th, 2005
our delightful father, surrounded by his children and grandchildren, was
finally taken from this mortal existence to reunite once again with his
eternal companion of 55 years, Doris Rae Koger Workman, after waiting somewhat
patiently for almost two years in the capable and caring hands of Heritage
Care in American Fork. The reunion with his parents, Meltiar Hatch and Edna
Horne Workman; along with his brother, Grant; and his sister, Ruth; and a
granddaughter, Melissa, must have been sweet indeed. His surviving younger
brother, Dale; and sisters, Beth, Gloria, and Eilene, along with their
spouses, have been so supportive and were always loved deeply. Honored to be
their children are Mark (Connie), Paul (Bonnie), Rae Ann (Glen) and Myron
(Christy). Sixteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and numerous
nieces and nephews added so much joy to their lives. Merlin was always proud
to share with others the accomplishments of his children and their families.
Merlin was born and raised in Delta, Utah. A Delta High grad, he joined the
U.S. Army Air Corp and spent the year of 1944 in the Southwestern Pacific as a
bombardier on B-24 Liberators with the Jolly Rogers ("The Best Damn Heavy
Bomber Unit in the World"), as part of the 5th Air Force in the 319th Squadron
where they never for a minute forgot Pearl Harbor. A highlight of his life was
a reunion after 52 years with the bomber crew where the nine surviving crew
members celebrated their respect and admiration for each other. Throughout his
life, he enjoyed visiting Air Force museums and airports. Few older men
escaped Merlin's firm grasp and broad smile before being asked about their
military service. Upon his discharge, Merlin fulfilled an LDS Church mission
to South Africa with a three-month stopover in Houston, Texas, where he met
Doris Rae. The married years were spent in Texas, Colorado and finally back to
Utah. Merlin loved LDS Church history and his pioneer ancestry. His visit to
Nauvoo and Iowa in the spring of 2000 with Glen and the Workman Boys enabled
him to share that love of the faith and sacrifice of the Workman, Hatch,
Turner, Hales, Ellis, Horne, Morrison, and Hansen pioneer families. Family and
friends remember sharing numerous trips to the National Parks where they loved
sitting around a campfire visiting and sleeping in the cold mountain air. One
of Merlin's few complaints of 'old age' was losing the freedom to grab Doris
Rae and the car keys and go cruising. Quite simply, Merlin drove as they
picnic'd thru life. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, January 16,
2005 at Anderson Mortuary, 49 E. 100 North, American Fork. Funeral services
will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 17th at the Highland 7th Ward 5212 W. Country
Club Drive where friends may call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Burial is Tuesday at
10:00 a.m. in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Avenue and N Street.
