Lynis Shosted Aldous was born February 7, 1956 to Tura Melvin Aldous and Maxine Shosted in Salt Lake City, Utah. He married Lori Scoville on June 10, 1977. Lynis attended Olympus High School, where he was President of the Graphics Design department. He also acted in school plays and filmed a variety of short films with his closest friends. He graduated in 1974. For the past 12 years, he worked for Wasatch Photographic. Aside from the adoration he had for his two sons, Ian and Grant, Lynis loved photography. He spent much of his free time either taking pictures or toying around with his photos on the computer, creating images that would vary from humorous to beautiful to downright bizarre. Lynis is survived by his loving wife Lori, sons Ian and Grant (Ali), parents Tura Melvin and Maxine, mother-in-law Lois, brother T. Melvin Jr. (Jean), brother-in-law Rod, good friends Monty, Grant, and Roland, grandchild Gabriel, and many nieces and nephews, as well as numerous other friends and relatives. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 22 at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple. Viewing will be held at the same location Friday, January 21 from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. We can all find comfort in knowing that the love that Lynis had for his family and friends will remain in our hearts long after his passing. Anderson, Daniel Lee Daniel Lee Anderson "Danny" Danny, our special angel from heaven, spread his wings and flew into the arms of God, Jan. 19, 2005. He was born April 2, 1944 to Martin Ray and Annie Maude Anderson in Park City, Utah, the youngest of five siblings, all of whom preceded him in death. Danny was born with Cerebral Palsey and was the greatest gift to our family. He always had a smile for everyone he met. Survived by brother-in-law, Leo Smith; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Heartfelt appreciation is expressed to the Cerebral Palsey Group Home where Danny lived. Barlow quietly passed away on January 19, 2005 in Bountiful, Utah from natural causes. She was born July 6, 1912 in Layton, Utah to Fred Brown and Mary Jane Kershaw. Mildred was an active member of the LDS Church all her life, working with the young members of the ward, president of the Relief Society and a Salt Lake Temple worker. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce B. Allred of Bountiful, Utah; son, Douglas Barlow of Seattle, WA; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grand-children and five great-great-grand-children; two brothers, Willard Brown of Kaysville, Utah and Ralph Brown of Boise, Idaho. Barnett, Edd LeRoy Edd LeRoy Barnett 1919 ~ 2005 Edd LeRoy Barnett, born March 6, 1919 to LeRoy Ellsworth Barnett and Jane LaVerne Barnett in Magna, Utah made his final flight on January 19, 2005. Those left who were most touched by his quiet strength: Joyce Barnett, his wife; Cheryl Anderson, his daughter and her husband Craig Anderson; grandchildren, Lindsay and Matt Anderson. He was also survived by his sisters, Royce Grant, Rose Rosequist, Betty Winn, Ruth Olaha, and Jacque Steeneck. As in life, our love still grows for him daily and we will miss him every day. Beck, Jean Jean Beck 1954 ~ 2005 "One more road trip" Jean D Beck, a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away Jan 18, 2005, at the University of Utah Hospital following complications from surgery. Jean was born in Provo, Utah on October 19, 1954 to Joe and Donna Jean Beck. She married Ray Balls on November 26, 1999 where they enjoyed their life together in Brigham City, Utah. She earned a Bachelors of Arts/English from the University of Utah, and Master of Arts and Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Oregon. Jean had a gift for language and writing and for the past ten years was a freelance research, editing, and writing consultant. She was an avid reader and photographer. With a great spirit of adventure, Jean enjoyed snow skiing with her husband and friends, taking trips on the Harley with the CABOBS, Red Butte Garden concerts, summer volleyball parties, and visiting her grandchildren in Florida. She is survived by her husband Ray Balls, sister, Vicki Rankin (Gary), brother, David Beck, and niece, Kristy Beck, stepchildren, Shauna Rittenhouse (Mike) and Courtney Balls (Elizabeth) who reside in Port St. John Florida. Her two grandchildren, Kyler and Mikelle Rittenhouse were her greatest joy ("I got to skip the hard part"). Jean's parents and nephew Dave Jeff Beck, preceded her in death. Palmer Bennett, our beloved mother, passed away peacefully Jan. 18, 2005 at the age of 65. Born September 6, 1939 in Park City, Utah to Walter Palmer and Katherine "Katie" Rubick. She married G. Edward "Eddie" Bennett in Salt Lake City on March 28, 1958, who passed away on December 6, 1991. Margo attended St. Mary's/Judge Memorial Catholic High School and graduated from South High School. She worked as a cook and waitress at the State, Highland and Sue Rich Bowling Alleys, and was employed at Evergreen Jr. High School for several years as a media aid in the school library. She loved reading, working on crossword puzzles, playing cards, coloring, sewing and creating a variety of keepsakes out of plastic canvas. Margo was a huge fan of the Utah Jazz, never missing a televised game. She traveled often to Wendover, Nevada, where she would sit for countless hours feeding dollars into the red, white and blue 7's. Margo was a very loving woman with a heart of gold; she and Eddie opened their home to dozens of children and others over the years, treating each of them as their own. She is survived by her three sons; James E. (Shauna Rosenlund) Bennett, W. Scott (Teresa) Bennett, Edward M. (Sarah) Bennett, and her daughter Kim M. Christensen, Melody Shawna Melody Shawna Christensen "Sparks" Our dear sweet wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully January 18th, 2005, after a long and valiantly fought battle with cancer. She was born November 8th, 1949, to Clifford G. and Emily Gordon White. Married Michael Dunyon and together they raised three daughters, later divorced. She then married Jeff Christensen January 1st, 1997, the man who puts the "spark" into her gorgeous blue eyes. Melody had a beautiful spirit, and was a mentor for many young people. She had a great love for animals and beautiful flowers. She loved to camp and fish, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. Survived by her husband Jeff, daughters Melanie (Thom) Lackey, Sarah (Jason) Steele, and Callie Dunyon, sister Kathi (Ed) Corbett, six grandchildren, and numerous family and friends. Colosimo, Gabriel Angelo Gabriel Angelo Colosimo "Gale" 1926 ~ 2005 Our husband, father, brother, grandfather (papa), sausage maker and accordion player extraordinaire, Gabriel Angelo passed away on Monday, January 17, 2005 from a bad heart. It is ironic that his physical one failed him when his spiritual one was so big, strong and loving. He will be greatly missed by many and he leaves a huge hole and an empty seat at the Colosimo family table. The world is now minus one great accordion player and sausage maker. Gale was born September 24, 1926 in Magna, Utah in the apartment above the Rome Grocery, to his parents, Ralph and Rose Colosimo, who were the owners and proprietors of the store. It was a harbinger of his future work. Dad grew up in Magna, learned to play the accordion, played fullback for the Cyprus Pirates where he was known as "Guts," graduated in 1944 and went into the military. Upon Gale completing basic training the Germans decided to surrender, fearing his transfer overseas. He returned to his hometown and one day at Sunday Mass he saw the most beautiful woman he had ever seen and decided he was going to marry her - Ida Concettina (Connie) Disera. He married Connie on October 22, 1951 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Magna. Gale wanted six children and Connie wanted two, so they compromised and had eight. He is survived by Connie, the love of his life, and his eight children, the joys of his life, Roseanne Webber (Jerry), Nancy Gibbs (Dan), John (Kathie), Galey (Beth), Paul (Sara), Mary Markosian (Jim), Larry (Jean), Joe all of Salt Lake City. He also leaves behind his brother and partner, Ernie and two sisters, Jean Guido and Rosemarie Feraco. Then there are his 20 grandchildren, the lights of his life Danny, Matthew, Michael, Justin, Robbie, Christopher, Jamie, Gianna, Lucy, Julia, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Dominic, Adam, Samuel, Gabriel, Andrew, Madeline, Gina, and Taitlynn (Tannen). Good-bye Papa, We love you! Gale and Ernie were partners together for 58 years in the grocery business at Colosimo's Standard Market. It was the hub of their families' lives and a source of great joy, pride and humor. His children had the pleasure of learning many life's lessons while apprenticing at his side. Gale was a great innovator and tinkerer in the butcher shop. He developed and created many sausage recipes that became the lifeblood of the Market. Gale and Ernie developed and patented a sausage making machine called the "Colosimo's Press." His greatest joy this past year was to see his boys open a Colosimo's store in Sandy featuring all of his sausage products. Dad was a firm believer in the power of prayer. His prayers for the world and for his family will be greatly missed. His favorite prayer was the rosary and he prayed it daily if not hourly. He would greatly rejoice if you would join his family at a vigil service and the praying of the rosary on Thursday, January 20th at 8:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Magna (2840 South 9000 West). Born February 19, 1915 in Salt Lake City, Utah, son of Harmon and Louella Cummings, and brother to three sisters and two brothers. He married Ada Jeanette (Jean) Neilson in Salt Lake City and they had four children, two sons and two daughters. Grant attended school in Salt Lake City and worked at the VA Administrative Hospital, and was also in the painting business. Grant and Jean loved the outdoors and spent most of their retirement years traveling "South" during the winters, with their good friends, calling themselves "snowbirds". They enjoyed golf, camping, hunting, fishing and were on many bowling leagues and had fun playing in their card groups. Their favorite places included Flaming Gorge, So. Utah and Grant especially loved Canyonlands. Grant was an easy-going and friendly person. He was very kind, considerate and a true gentleman. He was devoted, loving and generous husband and parent. He dearly loved his wife of 50 years, and his daughter Lynne, who both passed away. His brothers, Reeder and Glenn, sisters, Ruth and Belle preceded him in death. He is survived by his children; Gary (Kelli) St. George, Utah, John (Linda) Littleton, Colo. Claudia (Lanny) Nielsen Park City, Utah, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and a sister, Louella "Lu" (David) Cannon, Salt Lake City. Duncan, Therice Hardy Therice Hardy Duncan 5/9/1908 ~ 1/19/2005 CENTERVILLE - Our gentle, loving, compassionate husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather Therice Hardy Duncan passed away Wed., January 19 at the age of 96. Therice Hardy Duncan was born May 9, 1908 to the family of George Walter and Florence Hardy Duncan. He has lived in Centerville all of his life and has been active in both church and community service. At the time of his death, he was the oldest living resident of Centerville. By trade he was a masonry contractor building many homes and commercial buildings. Therice was married and sealed to Aretta Moss in the Salt Lake Temple. They had a wonderful compatible marriage that lasted for 52 years. They set high standards and were great examples for their two children. After Aretta's passing, Therice married Viola Booher in the Salt Lake Temple and has enjoyed a great companionship for 18 years. Therice has served in many LDS Church capacities including Bishop, member of the High Council, Sealer at the Salt Lake, Bountiful and London England Temples, and completed three missions for the LDS Church. He currently was doing extraction work on his computer at home, and enjoyed attending the Temple weekly. He was active in the Centerville Lions Club and was elected president twice. For many years he was President of the Centerville Deuel Creek Irrigation Board of Trustees and has been a member of the Centerville City Council. He was preceded in death by his dear wife Aretta Moss, by his loving parents George Walter and Florence Hardy, and brothers Leroy Hardy, Frank Walter, his wife Rhea Fox, brother- in- law William Robert Shelley. Therice is survived by his wife Viola Booher; two children, Lois Abercrombie, of Centerville; and Verl R. (Diann) Duncan, of Salt Lake City; sisters William Robert (Hattie) Shelley, Owen (Leone) Stringam and sister-in-law Leroy (Nora) Duncan. He has six grandchildren and 10 great-grand-children. Ellison, David Joseph David Joseph Ellison 1911 ~ 2005 David Joseph Ellison quietly passed away January 18, 2005 at his home following a recent decline in health. He was born July 26, 1911 in Raymond, Alberta, Canada. He was the eighth child of James Edward Ellison and Jane Watt Ellison. In 1915, his family returned to its original home in Layton, Utah. David loved those early years with immediate family, favorite cousins and his grandfather E. P. Ellison. David attended Davis County schools and graduated from Davis High School. He then attended the University of Utah, graduating in the Class of 1932 with a baccalaureate degree. While at the University, he was president of Sigma Chi fraternity, with resulting lifelong associations and friendships. In 1932, he joined a department store marketing and buying firm in New York City. One of his key clients was ZCMI of Salt Lake City. On February 24, 1933, he married his sweetheart from age 13, Hazel Elaine Blood, daughter of Governor and Mrs. Henry H. Blood. After their marriage in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Following marriage, David and Hazel enjoyed life in New York City and the surrounding area. They then returned to Salt Lake City, where he joined ZCMI as a merchandise manager. Later, taking an opportunity to own a women's retail shop, David and Hazel moved to Salem, Oregon. In 1938, they returned to Salt Lake City where he became a partner and Executive Vice President of Keith O'Brien. During World War II, he was commissioned in the United States Navy, and after training in Massachusetts served in San Francisco in distribution posts and Manila, Philippines, operating and rebuilding the country's railway system. Following the war, David resumed his position with Keith O'Brien, which expanded from the initial downtown store. Later, after the Keith O'Brien stores were sold, he managed several department store chains for the buyer. He loved his years in retail and the many relationships he developed. He served as president of the Salt Lake Merchants Association, director of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, and director of the National Retail Merchants Association, New York City. David and Hazel were active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They valued their membership in and friends of the Parley's First Ward, where David was a High Priest. In later years, they traveled to many family events, including grandchildren's college graduations and marriages, sharing their joy and love with their family. Hazel passed away suddenly on October 21, 1999. After Hazel's passing, David was blessed to stay in his home and enjoy the company of family, good friends and great neighbors who sustained him and marveled at his general good spirits through health challenges. In recent years, David enjoyed staying close to long-time Salt Lake City friends with whom he and Hazel raised their families. David, known as Pada by his grandchildren (one of whom so named him), great grandchildren, and even recently by his children, is survived by a loving family. His older sister, Isabel E. Adams, lives in Palm Springs, California. He has four children and their spouses, David H. (Sally) of Portola Valley, California; James E. (Carole) of Washington, D.C.; Janet (William S. Mackenzie) of Salt Lake City; and Thomas A. (Susan) of Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren (seven married with spouses) and 15 great-grandchildren from coast to coast. Each of them will miss his sense of humor, smile, sincere love and concern. By his passing, he rejoins his beloved eternal partner Hazel (Mimi to their family), parents and six of his seven siblings. Greenland, Debra Sue Foster Debra Sue Foster Greenland "Cherished Mother" Our beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother, after a courageous battle with cancer, returned home to her Heavenly Father January 18, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah and has been relieved of her pain. She was born November 22, 1955 in Murray, Utah, daughter of Kenneth Wynne and Karen Eva Foster. Graduated from Kearns High School in 1974. Married Dan L Greenland Jr., February 27, 1976 in the Salt Lake Temple. Her life was spent faithfully serving the Lord in many positions and in serving others. Hansen, Michael Alan Michael Alan Hansen 1970 ~ 2005 Michael Alan Hansen age 34 of Lehi, UT died Jan. 18, 2005 from injuries sustained in an airplane crash. He was born May 14, 1970 in Yankton, South Dakota. He attended Wynot Public Schools, Wynot, NE., and graduated from high school in 1988. He enlisted in the Army National Guard while still in high school and during his service, rose to the rank of E-4 Specialist. Upon completion of basic training, Michael attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, majoring in Business Management. After college, Michael started a career in golf course maintenance, working as Superintendent at Knolls Country Club, Himark Country Club, and Yankee Hills Country Club, all in Lincoln, Nebraska. On August 17, 1996, he married his best friend and soul mate, Sandi Renee Hanson in Pierre, SD, and on March 25, 2001, their son Alex Michael was born. A baby daughter is expected in April. Michael Hansen was Co-Founder and CEO of Golf Resource Group, Inc., and was a specialist in analyzing and developing solutions for complex agronomic conditions. Before co-founding Golf Resource Group, Michael was Vice President of Golf Operations for Bratt Inc., a nationally renowned landscape construction company. During his tenure at Bratt, Micahel completed multiple renovation projects and agronomic consulting throughout the State of Utah including the construction and grow-in of Saratoga Springs Golf Course, an 18-hole golf course in Saratoga Spring, Utah. He maintained a Class-A status with the Golf Course Superintendents Association (GCSAA) and has been a proud member for 10 years. Michael loved all sports. He was a standout athlete in high school, lettering in all sports offered. He had just learned to snowboard and had taught his three-year-old son to ski and snowboard. He was also an avid runner and completed the Honolulu marathon in December. Michael is survived by his wife Sandi and son Alex as well as parents, Gene and Marilyn Hansen of Sioux City, IA and Denise and Eddy Stratman of Wynot, NE; his sister, Terri Jo Dawson and her husband, Dexter Dawson, of Omaha, NE; two nieces, Emily and Megan and one nephew, Jayden. Hansen, Scott Housley Scott Housley Hansen 1949 ~ 2005 Scott Housley Hansen passed away unexpectedly on January 12, 2005 at his home in Plano, Texas. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 28, 1949, Scott was the oldest son of Evan Owen Hansen and Darlene Mae Housley Hansen. The family moved to Dallas in 1952 where Scott graduated from Richardson High School in 1967. He attended Utah State University and Brigham Young University and worked in the apparel business where he was a respected and successful salesman and manager. After living in Milwaukee and New York City, he returned to the Dallas area where he raised his children. He and his former wife, Maureen McGovern, were married on July 3, 1979. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1988. They have five wonderful children: Samantha Danielle (23), Rhett McGovern (20), Chloe Mae (15), Luke McGovern (12), and Chester Evan McGovern (9). Scott was devoted to his children and will be remembered by his family and friends for his unconditional love, his kindness, and his generosity. Scott was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in numerous capacities. She was a long time member and past president of Artistic Designers, avid gardener, and nationally recognized master flower judge who taught flower design classes. She had many hobbies - sewing, reading, crafts and sculpture. She hand stitched beautiful gifts for her family. She sculpted realistic likenesses of her grandchildren. She met monthly in a sewing club with friends for over 30 years. Helen is survived by her husband of 67 years, John H. Saturdays were always "Girls' Day", lunch, laughter and girl talk accompanied Jenny, Mindy, Joanna and Becca on their excursions. All who knew them understood the sanctity of these trips. Jenny has been a hairdresser for years. Over time, her clients became more like friends or family. Our family is grateful for their concern these past weeks. We also deeply appreciate the compassion of the medical staff at MICU at the U of U Hospital and the Huntsman Cancer Institute. A joyous reunion in heaven is taking place as Jenny is now reunited with her father and brother Kelly, and meeting her soon-to-be grandson before any of us. She attended East High School and graduated from the University of Utah in 1940 where she majored in theatre, participated in many plays, and joined a drama club. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. In the 1950's, she was involved with the Children's Theatre of Washington D.C. through the Junior League. She wrote an original play called "Trouble with Tricks," which was produced off Broadway in New York City. Becky was married: twice widowed at a young age, and twice divorced. She enjoyed many memorable summers with family and friends at her cabin on the Henry's Fork of the Snake River in Big Springs, Idaho, near Yellowstone National Park. She loved to play bridge, read good books, and go on nature walks. In later years, she volunteered for the Salt Lake Valley Republican Party, served on the LDS Hospital Quilt Board, and was a member of the Town Club. Becky was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed supporting the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Becky is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Marriott Champion (John W. Bob graduated from Lehi High School. He served in the Midwest Mission which included several states. He attended Brigham Young University where he received his Bachelors Degree, and the University of Utah where he received his Masters Degree in Social Work. He was employed as the medical director for the Department of Corrections. He served on the Board of Corrections of Mental Health at the Utah State Prison and was the program coordinator for Project Reality. He was an "outdoor enthusiast". He enjoyed hunting, waterskiing, scuba diving, motorcycle riding, and just being outdoors. Bob was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as Bishop, High Councilman, Stake Young Men's President, and in many various callings. He is survived by a son and two daughters: Mike (Sheri) Verville of Las Vegas, Nevada, Nickie (Nic) Rolfe of Phoenix, Arizona, Kellie Verville of Provo, Utah; and four grandchildren: Zachary, Kaycee, Chad, and Sydney. Wood 1916 ~ 2005 Dean F. Wood, 88, passed away January 17, 2005 at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Utah, surrounded by his beloved wife and family. Dean was born in Garland, Utah, October 31, 1916, to Willard LeGrand and Electa Hall Wood. He attended schools in Garland and Bear River High School. He married the love of his life, Evelyn Brown on June 1, 1938, in the Logan LDS Temple. They are the proud parents of three daughters, Judean (deceassed); Geraldean (Quane) Kenyon, Boise, Id; Geneal (John) Newman, Alpine, Ut; Willard (Tonya) Wood, Springville; Scott (Melissa) Wood, Rexburg, Id. Dean was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Dean served in the Hawaiian Islands during World War II and worked at Fort Douglass Utah for 35 years. He worked as the Fort Douglass Fire Chief and Fire and Safety Engineer. He also served as the Bishop of the Colonial Hills 2nd Ward in Hillside Stake, and held many other Church callings. He and his wife served a two-year welfare mission for the Liberty Stake in Salt Lake City. He enjoyed 12 great years as a Temple Worker in the Ogden and Bountiful Temples. He will be remembered for the many fishing trips to Strawberry Lake to his tiny cabin. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He taught many young men the fundamentals of safe hunting and successful fishing. Dean is survived by his wife of 67 years, his two daughters, two sons, 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchi-ldren, one sister, Erla Reed, and two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Wood and Virgina Brown. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Judean, his parents; three brothers, LeGrand Wood, Mark Wood, and Darold Wood; one sister, Merle Choate; a son-in-law, L. Glade Dunn; a sister-in-law Melva Brown; and brother-in-law, Knowlton H. Brown. As a family, we wish to thank the gracious staff of the Lakeview Hospital and the Vista Care Hospice staff; they all worked hard to make Dad's last days as comfortable as possible. Funeral services will be held at the Farmington Rock Church located at 272 North Main, Farmington, Utah on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 12:00 (noon). A viewing will be held that morning from 10:00-11:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Garland Cemetery with full military honors presented by the Combined Veterans of Box Elder County. Dale Wright 1942 ~ 2005 COALVILLE - On January 19, 2005, Clarence Dale Wright, 62, passed away peacefully in his Coalville home of natural causes. Born July 18, 1942 in Coalville, Utah to James Ward Wright and Grace Smith Wright. He attended North Summit High School and served four years in the United States Marine Corps. Survived by his loving wife, Linda; two children, Stormie Croghan and Jim Wright; two stepchildren, Kelly Brown and Rick Fisher; five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, three brothers, Don Wright, Sam Wright, Kelly Wright and two sisters, Na Vee Vernon and Shannon Wright. Welcoming him home his parents, a brother, Laurel Dee Wright and cherished grandparents. Dale will be greatly missed by friends and family. He will be remembered always for his honesty, generosity, and wonderful sense of humor. His unconventional work ethic has been an example to all who knew him. Dale faced all challenges in his life with optimism and laughter. Dale enjoyed his present employment with Flare Construction. He was a voracious reader, an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time in nature and traveling. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 22nd, at 1 p.m. at Walker Mortuary in Coalville.
