Born, June 15, 1930 to Cumer Arden Green and Nellie Adelaide Waterhouse in Ogden Utah. She was one of three children, brother Jack and sister Carol. After her mother's death, her father remarried and added to the family a sister LaNae and a brother Lanny. She is preceded in death by both her parents and her brother Jack. On October 3, 1959 she was introduced by her brother-in-law Burt Howells to a Navy Officer on leave. On October 17, 1959 her life was forever changed when she eloped to marry her sailor in Elko, Nevada after only a two week courtship. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they created a eternal bond of love and a life which included six children, one who preceded her in death and 13 grandchildren. Judy was an accomplished Genealogist being the longest practicing Genealogist from the original accreditation class. For many years she was an editor of the Genealogical Journal and still has clients based all over the world. Her greatest joy and largest passion in life came from tracing families to their roots and reuniting families together. Judy has always been an active member of the LDS church and held a wide variety of callings in her local ward. Judy was also an active member of the democratic party and was a judge at local elections for over 35 years. Hobbies included; knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, and crossword puzzles but her biggest joy came from reading books. Jenkins, Luana Ripplinger Luana Ripplinger Jenkins 1925 ~ 2005 July 14, 2005 - Our wonderful mother, Luana Ripplinger Jenkins, has gone home. She leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and faith. Born to Lawrence Arnold Ripplinger and Lorraine Holm Ripplinger Oct. 13, 1925. Luana grew up in Logan, Utah where she played with friends under lilac bushes, built bonfires in the summers, enjoyed mountain hikes with her father and brothers, and learned to play the piano. She met her sweetheart, Grant Bucklar Jenkins, in Logan, Utah and played as his accompanist. They were married April 14, 1944 in the Logan Temple while he was home on furlough during World War II. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1955 after months of numbness in her legs. Their move to Phoenix, Arizona proved beneficial for her health and the MS went into remission. Luana and Grant raised five children in Arizona. A woman without guile, she made her way quietly serving others. She cared little for the things of the world. She knew the magic of life is not in what is accumulated, but in what is given to others. Her listening ear was always available and she spoke with optimism and encouragement. She played the organ weekly at church for more than 40 years and taught piano lessons till the age of 75. Her gentle ways produced many fine pianists and organists, some of them her own grandchildren. She also served as president of the Phoenix 28th Ward Relief Society, as a volunteer in the Phoenix Employment Center, and as a worker in the Mesa, AZ Temple. She possessed a sweet and spiritual nature and her faith in Christ was sure. Time spent with her family was her earnest focus and her immense treasure. Her greatest desire was always to see them and hear the news of their lives. She so loved the hours spent reading to and playing games with her grandchildren. With some soda pop or ice cream cones, and a bottle of dry roasted peanuts, they were set for an evening of fun. She also enjoyed a daily crossword puzzle and was sharp in solving them right up to the end of her life. As her children, we appreciated how our mother loved and supported our father both in his professional life as well as in caring for him for nearly a decade while he was stricken with Alzheimer's. Those who care for the elderly, the sick, and the dying are angels walking among us. The family would like to thank the many health care professionals who have offered assistance to our mother in recent months. Your love and care are deeply appreciated. Luana is preceded in death by her husband, Grant Bucklar Jenkins; her parents, Lawrence and Lorraine Ripplinger; sister, Juanita; brothers, Rex Ralph Ripplinger and Conrad Lawrence Ripplinger; two grandchildren, Mary Jenkins and Janey Marie Jenkins. Barton (Glenn C.), South Jordan, UT, Penny Rae Curtis (Donald B.), Highland, UT, and James Lawrence Jenkins (Jennie) Georgetown, KY; 23 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; also three brothers, Paul Grant Ripplinger (Shirlene), Syracuse, UT, John Hollis Ripplinger, Logan UT, and Reed Randall Ripplinger (Sarah Ann), Richmond, UT. Tim married Tamie Wardle, his junior high school sweetheart, February 14, 2001 in West Yellowstone. Tim and Tamie will be sealed in the Vernal Temple. Tim inherited several more children, Staci and Greg Heminway, Rancho Cordova, CA, Alisa (CA) and Walter Escobar, Korea, Camron Walton, Sheldon Wardwell, Stephine Wardwell, all of Smithfield; grandchildren, Cassie and Jacob Heminway. As a family and a couple, Tim loved travel and adventure. The week before his passing Tim traveled to the High Uintahs for a family reunion. As a couple we planned to retire on the mountain with a bed and breakfast and to establish a fire department in Dutch John. Tim worked for Logan City in the Park's Department from 1974 to 1979 when he went to work for North Logan City as a heavy equipment operator. Continuing his education he headed the Streets Department and became Building Inspector of North Logan City. In 1992 Tim was appointed North Logan City Fire and Rescue Fire Chief. Tim's passion for the Fire Department was endless. Being the "Fire Chief" was just who he was. His devotion, and possibly his first love, was to his volunteers, their education, and together their commitment to have a safe community and serve the public. Tim always felt a deep appreciation to the Smithfield Fire and Rescue Department for their support in establishing North Logan Fire and Rescue. Tim always told of his appreciation for early North Logan City mayors and Chief Paul Lamont who without them he said "there would be no North Logan Fire and Rescue." Tim praised his volunteer "Heroes" he would call them. Family and friends may call on Tim Monday July 25, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. at Allen-Cranney Mortuary, 420 East 1800 North, North Logan, and at the church Tuesday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday July 26 2005 at the Smithfield 12 Ward chapel, 179 North 100 East, Smithfield. Roderick D. Wells 1955 ~ 2005 Roderick D. Wells, born July 31, 1955, died at home July 16, 2005. The Legendary Rod will be sorely missed around town and to all those who knew and loved him. He often joked about wanting to be a tour bus driver for famous rock bands. Now he is driving his own tour bus to heaven. Rod had many good attributes, but the one that quantified him best was his generosity, especially to those less fortunate than he. Rod would probably argue with that and say that his talent at the pool table was his claim to fame and glory "4&O baby!" Even though he had many prized possessions including his business, The Car Doctor, the one he cherished the most was his grandson that shared his birthday, Jaron Snarr. Rod is survived by his children, Steven Wells, Jenny Butler (Gary), and their children, Lyndi and Bronson; Amber Wells (Chris Snarr), and their child, Jaron; former wife, Debby Hills; his faithful employees, Jesus and Chuy; and his beloved cat, Zeek. He is also survived by his mother, Wanda; and step-dad, Larry Stillman; sister, Brenda Upton (Brady), and their children, Bryan and Bailey, of Las Vegas. Preceded in death by his son, Alex Cobb; and father, Leland. Dad, we will always love you. Thanks for all you have done for us and for sharing the biggest heart ever. Your memory will live forever in our hearts. Love to you from all of us and from your "little girl." At Rod's request his remains will be cremated and a ceremony in his name will take place July 31, 2005 at the Bowman Fork picnic site in Millcreek Canyon, 2 p.m. Pot luck appreciated.
