Christine C. Barr 1915 ~ 2005 Christine C. Barr, daughter of Thomas and Marietta (Mary) Coletti, was born in Cafasse, province of Turin, Italy January 30, 1915. As a child she came to America via Ellis Island and lived in Colorado and Wyoming. She graduated from high school in Rock Springs and studied nursing in Denver. As a registered nurse she practiced in Santa Barbara and entered the U.S. Army when World War II started. She served with the 59th Evacuation Hos-pital and enjoyed active duty in Casa Blanca, Morocco, Sicily, Southern France, and up to Northern France where her group was a part of the army surrounded by the enemy. Later she was a member of a surgical team sent to enter and assist captives in the Dacau Concentration Camp. Later she was a new arrival in Japan when the North Koreans attacked South Korea and she became an early member of a MASH unit. Later, when she was assigned duty in Italy, she met and married John W. Barr, who survives her. She retired from active duty Sept. 30, 1964 in the grade of Major. She is also survived by her sister, Minnie Olson, niece, Mary Kay, neph-ew, Thomas; sister-in-law and broth-er-in-law, J. R. and Patricia Hopkins; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be held Wed. July 27, 2005, 10 a.m. at St Ambrose Catholic Church, 1975 South 2300 East. Prayer services with be held Tuesday 7 p.m. at Neil O'Donnell and Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South where friends may call 6-7 p.m. Interment, Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Barton, Adam Alden Adam Alden Barton 1978 ~ 2005 Our beloved husband, father, son, and brother, Adam Alden Barton, 26, passed away at his home in Tooele, Utah July 21, 2005. He was born July 22, 1978 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Sherman Paul Barton and Paula Fowler. Adam was a graduate of Murray High School. He was a member of the LDS Church and served a mission in Florida. He married Catherine Broughton, November 25, 2000 in the Orlando Florida Temple. He is survived by his wife, Catherine; sons, Cory and Aiden; parents, Sherman and Paula; brothers, David (Bobbi Jo), John (Amber); three sisters, Marie, Leslie, and Eileen; and grandparents, Shirley and Carol Wilson, and Doris Barton. Barton, AnnMarie Prince AnnMarie Barton "Granny Annie" AnnMarie Prince Barton, also known as Granny Annie, passed away peacefully Friday, July 22, 2005 after a difficult battle with cancer. She left a message for all who knew her, "Thanks to all who helped through my battle with cancer and for all of the prayers. Thanks to everyone at NAC for everything, you made it easier." She was born September 25, 1947 in Salt Lake City, UT. Daughter of Jay and Della Prince, the oldest of nine children. Married Jeffrey Barton May 12, 1977 in the Salt Lake Temple, later divorced. She found great joy in raising her two children and loved them very much. She was a very talented person and enjoyed life. She was an active member of the LDS Church. Through a life of many difficult trials she kept her strong faith in Jesus Christ, and endured to the end. She was cared for very compassionately in her last weeks by her loving mother and sister. She knew her family loved her and will miss her very much. Survived by her two children, Jeff (Crysta), and Lorena Gladden; three grandchildren, all of Salt Lake City, UT; parents; two brothers; five sisters; and many nieces and nephews. Belt, Howard Roe Howard Roe Belt 1911 ~ 2005 Howard Roe Belt, age 94, passed away July 22, 2005 in Farmington, UT. He was born May 31, 1911 in Price, UT to Albert R. and Rachel Tidwell Belt. He married Mary Searle June 16, 1950. Howard's passions were fishing, hunting and the pleasures of camping. He worked as a coal miner and upholsterer for many years. He loved doing temple work and being a grandpa, even to grandchildren which were not even his own. He is survived by daughters, Arleen (Arvill) Pace and Sharon Belt; sons, Roland D. (Adell) Belt, Chad Belt, Ray Deloy (Terry) MacFarlane, and Verl (Janet) MacFarlane; brother, Ernest J. Wilson, Jr.; sister, Mary Lovell; 28 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchild-ren, and 23 great great-grandchild-ren. Preceded in death by wife, Mary; parents; and several siblings. Brown passed away peacefully July 23, 2005 following a short, courageous battle with cancer. Born June 2, 1928 to Rex and Nell Murdock Shepherd in Salt Lake City, she married Gail Austin Brown of Lehi, Sept. 6, 1952. She was born with an adventurous spirit, which lasted her entire lifetime. She raised her four children amidst her love of Gail, painting, piano, gardening, and reading. Her wit and sense of humor was enjoyed by all she came in contact with. Davis, Neale Nordfors Neale Nordfors Davis 1972 ~ 2005 Neale Nordfors Davis, age 33, a proud Native American of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2005. He was born January 7, 1972 in Medford, Oregon. He grew up in Bountiful, Utah, the son of Raymond and Wyona Nordfors Davis. Education was very important to Neale. He graduated from Woods Cross High School. He attended DATC on a scholarship, chosen as an outstanding student, and received completion certificates. He received an Associate Degree from LDS Business College. He loved music, photography and Hap Kwon Do. He totally loved his nieces and nephews: Alexa, Caitlin, Kendell, Tyson, Morgan, Chase, Bryon, Erin, Emily and David. He is survived by his parents of Bountiful, and his brothers and sisters, Raquel Davis of Woods Cross, Bradley and Nicole Davis of Draper, Jansen and Joy Davis of Bountiful, and Ronda and Steve Dalrymple of West Bountiful. He is also survived by his biological mother, Earlene Clown, her children, Tia, Stewart and Larie Clown and grandmother, Imogene Risingsun all of Busby, Montana; half brother, Floyd Bearing Jr. of San Diego, CA. Dennis, Don Don Dennis 1912 ~ 2005 James Joseph Donald Dennis "Don", 92, of Salt Lake City, went peacefully home to God's greater glory Thursday, July 14 after a short illness at a local hospital. Don was born October 18, 1912 on the family farm in Decatur, Macon, Illinois to Jesse Ray Dennis and Bessie Marie Wheeler. He was the second of five children. Don enlisted in the U S Navy in 1930 and served until 1957 when he retired. During his service in the Navy Don served in the Aviation department in San Diego, on the USS New York; at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Whidbey Island Washington. He served at the Fleet All Weather Training Unit for the Pacific Fleet in San Diego and with the Fighter Squadron Fifty Three in San Francisco. He retired with the rank of Chief Aviation Technician. After his Navy retirement Don went to work for the Federal Aviation Agency. This job took him all over the nation and around the world. Don worked in Nevada, South Carolina, New Mexico, Oklahoma Costa Rica, Venezuela, South Africa, Middle East and Vietnam. On September 3, 1960 Don married his beloved Carrol McGranahan in California. They have been devoted to each other for the past 44 years. Don and Carrol moved to Salt Lake City in 1970 where Don became active in real estate. Don was an active member of First Baptist Church where he served on many committees, drove the church bus for many years, was the Pastor's Assistant in the late 70's and served on the First Baptist Church Foundation Board. Don served 16 years on the Board of Directors for Mount Olivet Cemetery. Don is survived by his beloved Carrol, two sons: Larry Dennis of Flower Mound, Texas and Gene Dennis of Carlsbad, CA; two daughters: Linda Sandvall of Spring Valley, CA and Stephanie Dennis of San Andreas, CA. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. There is one surviving brother, Alan Dennis of Santa Rosa, CA. Funeral services for Don will be held Tuesday July 26 at noon at First Baptist Church, 777 South 1300 East, Salt Lake City. She was born in Bernice, Montana to Joseph and Vera Dini. She was a strong willed woman who put up a valiant fight. She raised seven boys primarily on her own. Bernice enjoyed reading and listening to country music and her favorite singer was Johnny Cash. Greenburg, Leah Clara Molyneux Leah Clara Molyneux Greenburg 1919 ~ 2005 Leah Clara Molyneux Greenburg passed away July 21, 2005 in Heber City, Utah. She was born in Eureka, Utah June 30, 1919 to Herbert and Clara Kraus Molyneux. Leah graduated from Jordan High School in 1937. She married Robert Samuel Greenburg May 8, 1940 in the Salt Lake City Temple. The family moved to Golden, Colorado in 1960. Her love for music led her to pursue a degree in music education at the University of Colorado. Leah taught school in Denver until the family moved back to Salt Lake City in 1973 then she taught at Edison Elementary School until her retirement. Music was a part of everything she did. She loved to sing, especially with her daughters. Always elegantly dressed, she was a gracious lady and a tireless worker who loved to serve others. She was an active member of the LDS church in many capacities including Relief Society president, chorister, and choir director. Leah is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; sons, Michael (Kaye, Wheatridge, CO) and Lynn; brothers, Karl, Oral; and sister, Arlene Craig. She is survived by brothers, DeVerl, Glenn; sisters, Irene Hale and Iris Gordon; and children, Robyn Steffelin of Littleton, CO, Doug (Clory) Greenburg of Bountiful, Karen Greenburg of Sandy, Cheryl (Gene) Moore of Orem, Paula Samson of Saratoga Springs, Sydney (Denton) Thiede of Heber, and Randy (Heather) Greenburg of Duluth, GA; 35 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Jorgensen 1956 ~ 2005 SMITHFIELD, UT - Tim James Jorgensen, 49, was reunited with his father and mother Thursday, July 21, 2005 at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Tim was born January 27, 1956 in Butte, Montana to Marvin and Norean Jorgensen. He moved to Smithfield three years later and remained there until his death. He served in the U.S. Army during peace time and was honorably dis-charged. Tim is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Tim is survived by his brother, Terry (Sandalee), Gilbert, AZ; sister, Tamra (Paul) Nilson, SLC, UT; children; and wife, Tamie Jorgensen. On June 1, 1979 Tim married Lisa Fuhriman, in Wellsville, Utah. Their children are Tyrell James and Lacey Kay, all of Smithfield. They were divorced in 2000. Tim married Tamie Wardle, his junior high school sweetheart, February 14, 2001 in West Yellowstone. Tim and Tamie will be sealed in the Vernal Temple. Tim inherited several more children, Staci and Greg Heminway, Rancho Cordova, CA, Alisa (CA) and Walter Escobar, Korea, Camron Walton, Sheldon Wardwell, Stephine Wardwell, all of Smithfield; grandchildren, Cassie and Jacob Heminway. As a family and a couple, Tim loved travel and adventure. The week before his passing Tim traveled to the High Uintahs for a family reunion. As a couple we planned to retire on the mountain with a bed and breakfast and to establish a fire department in Dutch John. Tim worked for Logan City in the Park's Department from 1974 to 1979 when he went to work for North Logan City as a heavy equipment operator. Continuing his education he headed the Streets Department and became Building Inspector of North Logan City. In 1992 Tim was appointed North Logan City Fire and Rescue Fire Chief. Tim's passion for the Fire Department was endless. Being the "Fire Chief" was just who he was. His devotion, and possibly his first love, was to his volunteers, their education, and together their commitment to have a safe community and serve the public. Tim always felt a deep appreciation to the Smithfield Fire and Rescue Department for their support in establishing North Logan Fire and Rescue. Tim always told of his appreciation for early North Logan City mayors and Chief Paul Lamont who without them he said "there would be no North Logan Fire and Rescue." Tim praised his volunteer "Heroes" he would call them. Laymon, Vicki Kaye Johnson Vicki Layman 1966 ~ 2005 Vicki Kaye Johnson Laymon slipped out of her mortal existence on July 21, 2005 in Midvale, Utah. Born July 29, 1966 to Beverly A. Johnson and Glenn J. Johnson. Married to David J. Laymon in January, 1994. Gave birth to D.J. and Kaylee Cassandra whom she loved so dearly. They were the pride and joy of her life. Vicki loved nature and the animals so much that she became a vegetarian at age thirteen. She filled her life with music and books and loved looking at the stars with her many telescopes. Vicki is survived by her children, D.J. and Kaylee, her husband, parents, step-mother (Cora), sisters Sandra (Hal) Rushton, Kelly Johnson. brothers Michael (Debbie) and Jay (Lori) Johnson, many nieces and nephews and stepsisters and stepbrother. Martines, Roselia Emma Roselia Emma Martinez 1920 ~ 2005 Roselia was born February 17, 1920 in San Antonio, Colorado to Francisco Martinez and Isabel Ruybal. She married Jose P. Salaz May 12, 1936. Later divorced. Together they had four children, Ester Gallegos (Alfonso) St. George, Vera Ybarra, Frank Salaz, Anselmo Salaz all of Salt Lake; 18 grandchildren; and lots of great, and great great-, and great great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both parents; two sisters, Christina Rivera and Bernie Lucero; and her loving son, Frank, who she missed dearly. Don't cry for me. McFadden 09/21/36 ~ 06/23/05 Frank was born to John Joseph McFadden and Edna Alfred McLeod Sept. 21, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan. He died July 23, 2005 in Salt Lake City after a long battle with diabetes and multiple associated illnesses. He served in the Army more than 21 years. He was mar-ried to his wife, Clea, in the Idaho Falls Temple February 16, 1961. He leaves his wife of 43 years and five children, Kelly Mendoza (Walter) of Salt Lake City, Kathleen Hitchcock (David) of Salt Lake City, Kevin Mc-Fadden (Candi) of Rexburg, ID, Kris McFadden (Cherina) of Orem, and David McFadden (Rebekka) of Wen-dover, NV; along with 18 beautiful and greatly adored grandchildren. He always had a joke to tell, a story to tell, a poem to write and a "Crocodile Tears" song to sing to crying children. He loved to give to others, always taught correct principals, and encouraged his family to succeed. He loved scouting, fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. He honored his priesthood and encouraged his sons to do the same. He has always loved serving the people around him. He will be greatly missed but he went on a greater mission to live and prepare the way for his family to join him for eternity. Miller, Selma Seastrand Selma Seastrand Miller Beloved Mother and Grandmother Selma Seastrand Miller, 92, died July 23, 2005 of causes incident to age. Selma was born in American Fork, Utah, November 5, 1912, the eldest of 10 children born to Ernest Joakim and Myrtle Robinson Seastrand. Selma married Elden J. Miller June 14, 1938, in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death December 20, 1990. A well known educator in Alpine School District for 36 years, Selma retired in 1976 but continued as a substitute teacher for a number of years. She received her normal certificate and later a baccalaureate degree from Brigham Young University. She taught many years in American Fork. Many of her first grade students learned their "readin', 'ritin' and 'rithmetic" in her classroom. Selma also was a member of the American Fork Literary League, was a precinct voting judge for several recent elections, and was an avid sports fan. In 1936, she was American Fork Poultry Days Queen. She was also active with local bridge and pinochle groups, and was grand marshal of the 2003 Steel Days parade in American Fork. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities. She had a zest for life and especially loved her extended family and many friends. She enjoyed extensive traveling with the highlight being a visit to her father's birth home in Sweden. Selma is survived by her three daughters, Ann (John) Miller of Orem, Nancy (Rich) Moore of Park City, and Rosemary of American Fork. Her posterity includes five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Jackie Miller Clark (Varlan, deceased) of Lehi, who has four children; 18 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Her surviving siblings include, Gareth (Dorothy) Seastrand, Richard (Gay) Seastrand, Steven (Nancy) Seastrand, Lillian (Chet, deceased) Holmberg, and Vivian (Bruce) Evans. Nielsen, Adrienne Elaine Sherwood Adrienne Sherwood Nielsen 10/25/46 ~ 07/23/05 Adrienne Elaine Sherwood Nielsen passed away July 23, 2005 at her Provo home surrounded by her three loving daughters and her devoted husband. She bravely waged a four year battle with cancer, never losing her cheerful grace nor her profound kindness. Born October 25, 1946 to Roy Stanley and Constance Strong Sherwood in Salinas, CA, she lived in Concord and surrounding areas attending Clayton Valley High School. The family later relocated to Orem, Utah where she attended BYU. Preceded in death by her father, Roy Stanley Sherwood. Adrienne is survived by her beloved husband, Seven; her devoted daughters, Pris-cilla (B.J. Harrison), Charlotte (Joe Brown), Lilly (Rob McDowell); five adorable grandchildren, Basil, Seven, Miles, Simon, and Magnolia; her dear mother, Connie (Nana) Sherwood Hen-drikse (Jacob); her accomplished brother, Samuel Sherwood (America); her mother-in-law, Erma Snow Nielsen; and many other extended family members, in-laws, and close friends. Adrienne was a talented stylist and decorator counted on by producers, designers and friends for her expertise especially dealing with Christmas themes. She was indispensable to her husband, a local designer. Her influence has been seen in many stage and television productions and commercials as well as magazine layouts, theatre lobbies, and countless homes. Adrienne's steadfast service to her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, again, include many programs, dinners, and productions including numberless "Journeys to Bethlehem" for many wards. Through all of her work the love of the Savior, Jesus Christ, was evident, and her continual counseling of family, friends and loved ones edified and lifted those around her. She loved gentleness, children, beauty, patriotism, music, and all things Disney. Peterson, Lura Faye Barkdull Lura Faye Barkdull Peterson 1919 ~ 2005 Lura Faye Barkdull Peterson died at her son's home in Farmington July 22, 2005, one day short of her 86th birthday. Scotty beamed her up. Lura was world famous, within certain areas of East Millcreek and Olympus Cove, for her divinity, fudge, and coleslaw. She lived her life on her own terms and with a great sense of dignity and grace. Lura was born July 23, 1919 in Burley, Idaho the youngest child of Louisa Cecilia Tippetts Barkdull and Leslie Nicolas Barkdull. They later moved to Salt Lake City where she graduated from South High School in 1936 and attended Brigham Young University. She married Homer K. Peterson June 12, 1941 and they had four children, Bill (Judy) Peterson, of Farmington, Peggy (Larry) Osoro of South Jordan, Jim (Kari) Peterson, of South Bend, IN, and Mark (Rita) Peterson, of Ogden. Together they had 14 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Lura was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Thad L. Barkdull;, and sister, Mary Barkdull Kirkham Call. One grandson, Ian Turner Peterson, also preceded her in death. The family would like to thank Cassie, Veronica, Cami and Deb for their loving care of our mother. She loved going to and having yard sales, and always enjoyed antique shopping. He was born in New York City to Herman Thomas and Pura Constance (Andino) Vila and graduated in 1942 from the Manhattan High School of Aviation Trades. Jim enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1942 and served in the Pacific during World War II. He was wounded in action on Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands June 16, 1944 and was discharged honorably in 1945. Jim married Patricia Bell Ryan in 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is survived by Pat, and their five children, Bryan James Vila (Cynthia Morris), Lawrence Edward Vila, Mary Ann Vila (Ed Varner), Candace Vila (Michael Huston), Eilene Vila Schmidt (Michael Schmidt). Jim and Pat also have five grandchildren, Christopher D. Jacobs, Brendan Vila, Darren R. Vila, Danielle P. Vila and Stephen H. Schmidt. Jim is also survived by three brothers and two sisters, plus many beloved step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We will all miss him greatly. Jim was a charter member of Westvale Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Christopher Diehl #19 lodge of the Free & Accepted Masons; a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite; a past patron of Adah Chapter #15 of the Order of the Eastern Star; and a member of the James R. She was born September 23, 1910 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Djalmar Emanuel Hansen Lund and Aagot Marie Randby. At age 19 she married James White Jr. (Lt Cmdr retired) June 11, 1930 in Ogden, Utah. They enjoyed 66 years together. James passed away June 8, 1997. Their marriage was solemnized in the Bountiful Temple. Margot enjoyed crocheting, bowling, and traveling the world. Her family was very important to her. She gathered with her sisters as often as possible. She is survived by her children, daughter, Eleanor Jean Hart; and son, Clyde Lund White (Dayle); eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchil-dren; and four great great-grandchil-dren. She was born May 1, 1931 in Downey, Idaho to Glen Fredrick and Ila Rozella Rasmussen Bybee, where she was reared and educated. On June 2, 1950 Marie married Keith Duane Winchester in Lewisville, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple June 1, 1951. She lived in Idaho Falls and Lewisville, Idaho before moving to Harrisville, Utah, where she lived for 38 years before moving to South Ogden. Marie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served as a Mutual teacher and chorister. She was also a member of the Modratones singing group for many years. She enjoyed shopping, singing and decorating. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Despite a lifetime of ill health, she always took time to make others feel loved and appreciated. She was truly a friend to all. Marie is survived by her husband, Duane, South Ogden; three sons, Brad Duane Winchester, Alexandria, VA, Kelly Lane (Janine) Winchester, Loveland, CO, Paul Dean (Sandra) Winchester, Star, ID; and a daughter, Luann (Kendell) Kennington, Salt Lake City, UT; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dennis Bybee, Albuquerque, NM.
