Bringard, Britney Ann
Britney Ann Bringard "Our Angel Our Life" Born Nov. 5, 2000, was returned back
into God's loving arms Mar. 4, 2005. Her smile and laughter, her valiant
little spirit, will be very missed by all who loved her. Services will be held
Mar. 8, 1002 from 4 - 6 p.m. at the LDS Church at 9227 S. Wild Clover Ln.

Buck, Thelma Jorgensen
Thelma J. Buck 1919 ~ 2005 RIVERDALE/ROY, Utah - Thelma Jorgensen Buck, 86,
passed away Friday, March 4, 2005 at Davis Hospital and Medical Center in
Layton from causes incident to age. She was born January 26, 1919, in Eureka,
Utah, the only child of Alvin and Mary Frances Kearns Jorgensen. She attended
Park City schools and graduated from Park City High School in 1936. Thelma
married Robert G. Buck on January 18, 1940 in Park City. He died April 12,
1997. Thelma was a superb homemaker, and worked as a bank teller for many
years. Her interests included music and dancing. Thelma was a member of St.
Mary's Catholic Church. Her children and their spouses that survive are: R.
Blaine (MaryLou) Buck, Riverdale, UT; Dale (Darlene) Buck, Wilmington, NC;
Janet O'Brien, Des Moines, WA; eight grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren. Thelma's family would like to thank Emeritus Estates
Assisted Living for the wonderful care provided for four and a half years, and
Heritage Park Care Center for their devoted care for the last six months of
her life. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 10, 2005
at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2740 Pennsylvania Ave., Ogden.
Family and friends may visit at the church on Thurs. from 10 to 10:45 a.m.
prior to the Mass. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S., Sandy,

Caldwell, Ila Dean "Deanie"
Ila Dean Caldwell "Deanie" 1931 ~ 2005 Ila Dean Johnson Caldwell passed away
suddenly but peacefully on March 5, 2005. She was born in Downey, Idaho on
October 18, 1931, a daughter of Arnold LeRoy and Ila Packer Johnson. She grew
up in Logan, Utah and attended the AC. She married John B. Caldwell on April
24, 1953 in the Logan LDS Temple. Her life centered on her family and her wide
circle of friends. She was a busy woman and had a wide variety of interests.
She enjoyed tatting, reading, volunteering at the library, photography,
traveling, Utah Jazz Basketball and attending Utah Sons of the Utah Pioneers
with her husband. She was active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, serving as president of all three auxiliaries in the Tooele
Sixth Ward. Survived by her husband, John B. Caldwell, four sons, Jan
(Kaylene), John (Bonnie), Jerry (Susan) and Jeffrey (Cheri). A sister, Clarice
(Bevan) Higbee, 11 grandchildren, Marissa, Hilary, Mallory, Jackson, John
Brant, Christopher, Cassi, Andrew, Tiffany, Colton, Bailey and one
great-granddaughter, Alayna. She was a remarkable woman. Her passing has
broken our hearts. She will be sorely missed. Funeral services will be held on
Thursday, March 10,2005 at 1:00 pm in the Tooele Stake Center 253 South Second
East, Tooele. Friends and family may call Wednesday evening, from 6-8 pm at
Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main, Tooele, and from 11:30 to 12:45 at the church
prior to the funeral.

Cannon, Mildred Harwood
Mildred Harwood Cannon "1925 ~ 2005" Our loving wife, mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother, sister and friend, Mildred Harwood Cannon, passed away
peacefully Friday, March 4, 2005, from complications after heart surgery,
surrounded by her loving family whom she loved more than life itself. Mildred
was born May 28, 1925, the seventh of eight children to Elmer Isaac and Mida
Marie Forkner Harwood in Rocky Ford, Colorado. She had lots of wonderful
stories of growing up on the farm with her brothers and sisters. She married
her husband and eternal companion, Leslie Harman Cannon Sr. on February 25,
1944 in Rocky Ford. They were sealed for time and all eternity January 21,
1959 in the Salt Lake Temple. Their home was blessed with 3 children: Leslie
H. Jr., Randy H. and Sherry Ellen, whom she cared for with unconditional love
her entire life. She was a wonderful cook, quilter, seamstress, doll maker and
loved to crochet, making the most beautiful afghans for family and friends.
She was an excellent organ player even though she only played by ear. She was
an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints and served in many callings in the Primary and Relief Society. Her life
of unconditional love and service to family and friends has earned her a
special place with her Lord and Savior whom she loved dearly. She will be
dearly missed by all those who loved her and those she cared for. She is
survived by her husband of 61 years; her three children: Leslie H. Jr. (Anne),
Sherry, and Randy (Karen); brother, Robert of Rocky Ford, CO; 6 grandchildren,
seven great-grandchildren. Goodbye Mom and Grandma, till we meet again.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the
Taylorsville 4th Ward, 4310 South 3200 West. A viewing will be Wednesday,
March 9, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road
and 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Interment,
Valley View Memorial Park

Chaney, Sharon Beth
Sharon Beth Chaney 1922 ~ 2005 Our precious and loving Mother, Sharon Beth
Dorrity Chaney, age 82, passed away on March 6, 2005. She was born on Dec. 30,
1922 in Kanosh, UT to Rulon H. and Reva Dorrity. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Donald G. Chaney. She is survived by four daughters: Linda (Rod)
Hatch, Cathy (Gary Armstrong) Hillstead, Debbie Carlton, and Donna (Eftichios)
Katsanevakis. She had one sister, Diane (Calvin) Workman and one brother,
Ralph Dorrity. She had eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She did
babysitting for many years and was "Grandma" to many. She was a member of the
LDS Waterloo Ward. "You are such a special mother to all of us. We all love
you so very much and we will miss you with all our hearts." A viewing will be
held on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Deseret Mortuary located at
36 E. 700 S. where family and friends may call. Graveside services will be
held at the Fort Douglas Cemetery on Wed., March 9, 2005 at 11:30 with a
viewing at the mortuary from 10-11 a.m.

Jackson, Maynard C.
Maynard C. Jackson 1920 ~ 2005 Maynard C. Jackson, 84, of Salt Lake City died
March 5, 2005 at his home after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his family.
Maynard was born December 3, 1920 in Holiday Cove, WV the son of Jesse Parks
and Martha Esther Cunningham Jackson. He attended elementary and high school
in Denver. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. On April
23, 1947 he married Jean M. Garnett in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was
employed as an auto/diesel mechanic and was in Executive Housekeeping at
Primary Children's Hospital for 15 years until his retirement in January 1986.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. His
interests included his family, automobiles, and mechanics. Survivors include
his wife Jean Jackson of Salt Lake City; one son, Maynard (LuDean) Jackson of
I daho Falls, ID; four daughters, Diane (Allan) Butterfield of Mapelton, UT,
Marla (Clyde) Burton of Clearfield, Lori (Gary) Hamm of Grantsville, and
Kristi (Jeff) Curtis of Taylorsville; 19 grandchildren and 17
great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, son David Bruce
Jackson, and granddaughter Ashlee Curtis. Funeral Services will be held at
11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2005 at the Cross Pointe LDS Ward, 5550 S. 1327
W., Salt Lake City, UT where friends may call Wednesday 6-8 p.m. and one hour
prior to the services. Bishop Clive Romney officiating. Fox Funeral Home, Rock
Springs, WY funeral directors. Interment with military honors will take place
at the Utah State Veteran Cemetery, Bluffdale, UT.

Jensen, Richard Clyde
Richard Clyde Jensen 7/17/24 ~ 3/5/05 Richard C. Jensen, (Dick) passed away
Saturday, March 5, 2005 at the age of 80, in his home with his sweetheart,
VaLeen Sorensen Jensen, by his side. Richard was born July 17, 1924 in
Montpelier, Idaho to James Jensen and Naomi Phelps. Richard left Montpelier
when he was called by the U.S. Army to serve his country in World War II.
After the war, being an active member of the LDS Church, Richard served a two
and a half year mission in Copenhagen, Denmark. Upon completing his mission,
he returned to Salt Lake to finish his education at the LDS Business College.
Richard graduated as a certified accountant with experience in business
management. During his college years, he served as student body president.
Richard married his sweetheart, VaLeen Sorensen, in the Salt Lake LDS temple
Feb. 11, 1953. Richard's academic years prepared him to become the world's
largest importer for the Swiss Bernina Sewing Machine, a virtually unknown
machine before he began. He retired in 1986. From 1987 until his passing, he
was owner and manager of the Richard C. Jensen Enterprises. Dick has
faithfully served in numerous Church positions inclusive of Stake Young Men's
President, Genealogical Coordinator, Bishop of the Bountiful Third Ward, High
Councilman, Genealogy Advisor, Stake Sunday School President, Temple Sealer
and Mission President of the Denmark/Iceland Mission. In his final years, Dick
was involved in land development in Southern Utah, bordering Zions Park. He
loved genealogy work as he completed his family lines. Survived by his wife,
VaLeen Sorensen Jensen of Bountiful; six children, Kim (Leslie) Jensen of
Layton, Robyn (Stuart) Smith of New Jersey, Tamara (Dana) Bell of Bountiful,
Jaron (Janene) of Washington, Todd (Shauna) Jensen of South Jordan, and Mark
(Deanne) Jensen of Arizona; 26 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Also
survived by one sister, Juanita Gray of Idaho. Preceded in death by his
parents, three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be Thursday,
March 10, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful Hills Ward, 1190 East Bountiful
Hills Drive. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2005, 6:30 - 8:00
p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main and Thursday at
the Ward from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral services. Interment-

Johnson, Deborah Ann "Deb"
Deborah Ann Johnson "Deb" DRAPER--Our wonderful wife, mother, daughter, and
sister, Deborah Ann Johnson, left us on Monday, March 7, 2005, for her journey
to Heaven. "Deb" was born Nov. 13, 1955 to Ed and Joyce Cimini Walden in
Washington State. She graduated from Hillcrest High School, Class of "74. She
was a Sterling Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, and graduated
from Southern Utah University. "Deb" was employed with WHW Engineering for the
past 25 years. Debbie enjoyed the outdoors, especially a warm and sunny place.
She had a wonderful life doing all of the things that she loved, including
reading and being with her family. Debbie's family includes Dave, her loving
and devoted husband of 27 years; her daughter and best friend, Bethany; her
parents; sister, Mary Walden; brothers, Steve (Thayla), Tim (Roseli) and their
families; also Dave's parents, George and Joyce Westbrook and Dave's brothers
and sisters, Kathleen (Dennis) Barker, Gloria (Mike) Schneider, George Jr.
(Vickie) Westbrook, Karen (Ed) Newman, Mike (Holly) Westbrook, Susie (Danny)
Reisendorfer, DeAnn (Robert) Barron; and many other family members and
friends. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thurs., March 10, 2005, at 10:00
a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 300 E. 11800 S., Draper, Utah. A
reception at the church will follow. The family would like to thank the
nurses, staff, and doctors of the Huntsman Cancer Institute and Hospital. In

Johnson, Leah Pierce
Leah Pierce Johnson 1922 ~ 2005 Leah Pierce Johnson passed away March 6, 2005
in American Fork, UT. She was born March 10, 1922, in Vermillion, Sevier
County, UT to Wilford Pierce and Alice Alvey Pierce. Leah spent her early
years in Sevier County, moving to Orem in 1942, where she has resided ever
since. She married Grant J. Johnson on May 31, 1947 in Las Vegas, NV. Their
marriage was later solemnized in the Manti L.D.S. Temple. While Leah lived in
Orem she worked at J.C. Penny, Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, Utah County Recorders
Office, Sears, Brown Brothers, and Cox's Foundry. Leah was very active in the
community. She was a member of Business and Professional Women, Veterans of
Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary where she held local, state, and national
offices, Orem Boosters Club, Orem Heritage Commission who were responsible for
erecting the Veterans Memorial Monument at the Orem City Cemetery. Leah
received the Walter C. Orem award for outstanding community service in 2001.
Leah was an avid bowler serving as an officer on many leagues and city
associations. She is a member of the Orem Bowling Association's Hall of Fame.
She spent many hours at local schools and scout troops teaching respect for
the flag and love for America. Leah was an active member of the Democratic
Party, running for State Representative. She traveled extensively visiting
most of the United States, Japan, China, Russia, Poland, Europe, Australia,
and New Zealand. Leah is survived by her children, Larry (Marna), James
(Chris), Ann, Karen Andrus, Don, and Ron (Lori) Johnson, 13 grandchildren, and
19 great-grandchildren, sisters and brother, Leola Peterson, Glenda (Gene)
Smith, Audrey Hadaway, DeVan (Annie) Pierce, sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan
Pierce, Elva Pierce, Betty (Pratt) Canfield, Jean (Dale) Elkins, Earl (Beth)
Johnson, Glen (Odessa) Case, Charles Mc Carter and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Grant, brothers Arlo, Vard,
Ned, sisters Wilma and Gwendona, and a granddaughter Jennifer. Funeral
services will be held Thursday, March 10, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cascade
Chapel at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State, Orem. Friends may call Wed.
from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and also 9:45- 10:45 a.m. prior to the

Luken, Konrad Otto Lindbloom
Konrad Luken 1939 ~ 2005 Konrad Otto Lindbloom Luken, age 65, died Mar. 4,
2005 at the CareSource Hospice in Salt Lake City. He was born Nov. 1, 1939 in
Chicago, IL, the son of Conrad Luken from Norway and Ingeborg Ruth Lindbloom
from Sweden. He married Verlene Rae Robbins July 2, 1964, and again on Nov. 1,
2004. Surviving is his spouse; a daughter: Mrs. Michelle Luken-Scott;
estranged-son: (known as) Kel Luken; and three grandchildren: Sven, Bjorn, and
Michael David. Konrad attended school outside of Chicago; Rawlins, WY; and
Granite High in Salt Lake. He graduated in 1964 from the University of Utah
with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. Konrad's career at Rural
Electrification Admin., Naval Research Lab in Wash., D.C. and Hill Air Force
Base allowed him to explore engineering and computer systems. His retirement
from Hill Air force Base in 1994 gave him an opportunity to visit Europe and
his parent's homeland. He will ever be known as having a great passion for
music, an interest for the details of world history, a success as a business
owner, and love for his mother A viewing will be held Thursday, March 10, 2005
at 10:00 a.m. with his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Cottonwood First
Ward, (5913 S. Highland Dr.). Burial will be the following Monday in Logan

Mackert, Valerie Jeffs
Valerie J. Mackert 1961~ 2005 Valerie Jeffs Mackert, our beloved mother,
returned to Our Heavenly Father on March 3, 2005. Born in Salt Lake, May 5,
1961 Survived by son, Jeramiah Mackert daughter, Shannon M. Wehunt. She will
be greatly missed but never forgotten. We love you Mom!

Marx, Beulah M. Beers
Beulah M. Beers Marx 1913 ~ 2005 CLEARFIELD - Mom left this world peacefully,
completing her 91 year journey, and into the loving arms of her Heavenly
Father on Sunday, March 6, 2005. Mom was born October 21, 1913, in Castle
Dale, Utah, to Bertie Behunin and Franklin Clare Beers. She was the seventh of
11 children. She lived her early years in Castle Dale, Vernal, and Salt Lake
City where she taught Sunday School, Primary and Relief Society. On her 20th
birthday she married the love of her life, Rex Marx. Dad was a salesman, so
they moved frequently, living in all of the Western States. They were married
54 years when Dad passed away in 1988. From that union they had one son, Rev.
Michael J. (Betty) Marx, Sr., Owensboro, Kentucky; and two daughters, Patricia
(Darrell/Pete) Call of Farr West; and the late Sharon Kay Vier. Her early
interests were crocheting, cooking, being a homemaker, and a mother and wife.
She and Dad loved to camp, travel, rock hunt and fish. She had a great sense
of humor and loved to tease with her family members. She leaves her son, and
daughter, 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grand-children and five
great-great-grandchildren, whom she adored. She outlived all of hers and Dads'
siblings, as well as their spouses, Dad, her daughter, one granddaughter and
three great-grandchildren. She was a Christian and loved the Lord Jesus and
looked forward to meeting him and all of her loved ones again. Mother, You
filled our days with rainbow lights, fairy tales and sweet dream nights, a
kiss to wipe away our tears, gingerbread to ease our fears. We thank you for
your tender care, for deep warm hugs and being there. Love, Pat and Mike. We
would like to thank the staff at Rocky Mountain Care Center and Rocky Mountain
Hospice for their tender loving care of Mom. She will miss her special
friends, Laura, Margie and Stephen; aides, Heather, Heather and Allison;
special nurses and staff members. Funeral services will be held Thursday at
2:00 p.m. at the Clearfield Community Church, 200 South 500 East, Clearfield.
Friends and family may call on Wed., 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary,

Nielsen, Bertha Olsen
Bertha Olsen Nielsen 1914 ~ 2005 If you have lived in southwest Provo in the
past 91 years, Bertha probably knew you and your parents, who you married and
where you lived. She also cared about you. This corner of Provo was Bertha's
world and she loved it. She left this world March 6, 2005 to join her husband,
Joy Woodruff Nielsen. She was born February 6, 1914, into the Provo Second
Ward in the home of her parents, Ole E. and Sarah Ellen "Nellie" Jones Olsen.
Although the Provo Second Ward boundaries were divided and re-divided over the
years, she spent her entire life in the Second Ward. Her brothers and sisters
are: LeRoy J. and Hildred Olsen, Marion and Leona Olsen, Horace Olsen, Jack
and Mabel Westphal, Bert and Elda Olsen, Leon and Ardith Nielsen, Ralph and
Phyllis Olsen. Ardith, Leon, Bert and Phyllis are living. A special thank-you
goes to Ardith for the kindness and care given to her sister over the years.
She married Joy Woodruff Nielsen in the Salt Lake Temple. They leave a
posterity of five children, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild. Their children are: Lewis A. "Bud" (deceased) and
Hildred Anderson of Orem; DeAnn Nielsen of Cedar Hills; Brent and Pam Nielsen
of Sandy; Bert and Charla Nielsen of Gridley, California; and Greg and Linda
Nielsen of Lafayette, Louisiana. Bertha loved and lived the gospel of Jesus
Christ. She served in many church callings including JuniorSunday School
Teacher; Teacher, counselor and president in the YWMIA; counselor and scretary
for many years in the Relief Society. She also served as a temple worker in
the Provo Temple. She was proud of her pioneer heritage. Her grandfather,
Albert Jones, came to Utah in the Martin-Tyler handcart company. She honored
his memory as she served as an Officer in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers,
Camp #3. Her patriotism and desire to serve was expressed as she served as a
Judge of Election for many years and volunteered as a Pink Lady at the Utah
Valley Hospital. While devoting most of her time to her family, she also found
time to belong to the Sewaco Card Club that was formed in the early 1930s and
continues to this day. She also enjoyed friends in other clubs and in the Good
Sam Trailer Club. She was a great supporter of BYU sports and had season
football and basketball tickets for many years. Her family wishes to extend
their gratitude to her daughter, DeAnn, who saw to her every need for many
years and kept her life full, fun and interesting. Funeral services will be
held Thurs., March 10, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Berg Mortuary Drawing Room
Chapel, 185 E. Center Street, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the mortuary
Wed. evening from 6-8 p.m. as well as Thurs. afternoon from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to

Pedersen, Agnes Elizabeth
Agnes Pedersen 5/8/1912 ~ 3/4/2005 Agnes Elizabeth Jensen Pedersen, 92,
returned to her Heavenly Father on Friday, March 4, 2005. Born in Denmark, May
8, 1912 to Jens Anton and Jensene Jensen. She married Aage Pedersen Nov. 2,
1935. A member of the LDS Church, she served as a Sunday School Primary and
MIA teacher and as president of the Relief Society. She loved her church and
was a devoted mother and friend. Survived by son, Henning Pedersen; daughters,
Ingerliss Ferdinand, Vita Gale, Mary Ann Pedersen; sister, Astrid; eight
grandkids; 11 great-grandkids; and one great-great-grandson. Preceded in death
by son, Jorn; husband Aage; four brothers and four sisters. Viewing Tuesday,
March 8, 10-12 noon, at Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South. Interment will
follow at Lake Hills Cemetery,10055 S. State.

Perea, Rosie M.
Rosie M. Perea 1917 ~ 2005 Maria Rosita Del Socorro Perea was born to Pablo
and Maria Eugenia Montoya in La Jara, New Mexico, January 15, 1917. She passed
away March 5, 2005 in Salt Lake City. She had a family of seven brothers and
four sisters. She lived her childhood years in New Mexico. She later moved to
Riverton, WY where she met and married Fransico Antonio Perea. She gave birth
to seven children, Joe, Anthony, Manuel, Louis, Dora, John and Betty. In 1972
she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah and went to work and later retired from the
Utah Technical College as a custodian. She is survived by two sisters and one
brother, Mary Martinez, Emilina Murphy and Sam Montoya; also one daughter and
two sons, Betty, John (Leona) and Anthony (Glenda). She had 27 grandchildren;
53 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be
Thurs., March 10th, 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4501 W.
5215 S. Kearns. A viewing, followed by Rosary will be held Wed. evening from

Carl F. Rasmussen "Sonny" Died February 28, 2005. Born November 8, 1941 to
Carl Eric Rasmussen and Evelyn Mary Fife. Baptized Roman Catholic. Attended
Judge Memorial Catholic High School. He served his country honorably in the
United States Air Force and United States Army. Carl was very intelligent. An
avid reader his entire life. He read Dante's Inferno when he was 12 years old.
He became a licensed Taxidermist at age 14. He was also an excellent artist
and loved all animals. Preceded in death by both parents and brother Robert.
Survived by sisters: Evelyn, Helen, and Yvonne as well as a niece, nephews and
many friends. Special appreciation to Det. Dejarnett of the Midvale Police
Dept. and long time friend and therapist, Patricia. A Memorial is scheduled on
March 10, 2005 at 8:00 p.m. at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church,

Evelyn Bernice Shurtleff Richards 1910 ~ 2005 Evelyn Bernice Shurtleff
Richards, age 94, beloved mother, sister and aunt, went on March 6 to the arms
of her Savior, whom she loves dearly. She was born on October 18, 1910 to
Wallace and Mary Shurtleff at Fort Bridger, Wyoming; the eldest of eight girls
and four boys. From an early age she had to help her mother care for a large
family. She attended Thunderbolt, then Robertson Elementary. She rode her
horse to school. She graduated form Mountain View High School in 1928. In her
youth she had a profound concern for the elderly, the sick and afflicted; and
a love of the scriptures. She married Ivan E. Richards on March 21, 1945, in
Salt Lake City. Together they often spent Sundays after church visiting the
elderly, the friendless and the less fortunate; singing hymns and reading the
Bible to them. In her fifties she went back to college, got her teaching
certificate, and taught elementary school for many years. In later life she
continued to show her compassion for those who were less fortunate than she.
All her life she lived these words of the Savior: ". . .Inasmuch as ye have
done it unto one of the least of these . . .ye have done it unto me." (Matthew
25:40) Survived by son, Shem and daughter-in-law Jeanie; three sisters, Donna
Cook, Gloria (Sherman) Jensen, June Decker; one brother, Jonathan Shurtleff;
and by numerous nieces and nephews, who loved her. Evelyn was preceded in
death by her husband, Ivan. Our family would like to express sincere thanks to
all the nurses on the second floor of the Federal Heights Nursing Home for
their excellent care of Evelyn. And to the Hospice nurses who showed her such
compassion in her last days. Memorial service will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.,
March 9th, at the LDS Westland 3rd Ward, 7262 S. 2700 W., West Jordan.

Rowberry, Karen Lee
Karen Lee Rowberry "Loving Sister" Our sweet, loving Karen went home to her
mother and father Sunday after numerous bouts with pneumonia. She was
surrounded by immediate family and attended to by so many, many caring and
loving extended family within the West Jordan Care Center. The staff at West
Jordan Care Center deserve accolades for their dedication, endless love and
service for these handicapped individuals. Karen was involved with Columbus
Community Center for over 30 years where she worked, she played, she taught
and she was loved. So many thanks to so many people over so many years with
Columbus. Karen, born March 20, 1951, was preceded in death by her mother,
Erma Wimmer Rowberry and her father, Leslie H. Rowberry. She is survived by
brothers: Leonard (Marion) Wimmer, Arden (Joan) Wimmer, Gene (Marlene) Wimmer
and Gary (Paula) Wimmer; sister-in-law, Donna Wimmer; and numerous nieces and
nephews. Special thanks to nieces, Dianne Killian and Sherry Wimmer. Our
memories are filled with smiles of the times spent with Karen. She had a sweet
and loving personality and we all enjoyed her sense of humor. She often
remarked, "I am not spoiled, I am lucky". She delighted in the simple
pleasures of life and reminded us to do the same. Graveside services will be
held Wednesday, 1:00 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 "N" Street under

Rowe and Lucille Jennings Rowe both passed away within hours of each other in
a local care center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dave and Lucille were married in
1939 and during the past 65 years they couldn't be separated in life nor in
death. They are survived by their three children, Judy (Roby) Stevens, Nancy
Parrish, and David Scott Rowe; six grandchildren; seven great-grand-children;
and three sisters, Beulah, Peggy and Shirley. Immediate family will meet at 12
Noon on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mausoleum, 1950 E.
10600 S. for a nicheside service followed by a visitation for family and
friends at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary from 1-3 p.m. Thank you to the staff

Ryan, Douglas P.
Douglas P. Ryan "Loving Father and Grandfather" Douglas P. Ryan passed away at
his home in Murray, Utah on March 6, 2005 of natural causes. He was born on
November 14, 1929 in Cardston, Alberta Canada to Allen Cullen and Clara May
(Olsen) Ryan. Married Dora (Varela) Gomez, later divorced. Married Sherrill
(Virgin) Weeks, later divorced. Douglas was a scoutmaster in Murray 1st Ward
in the early 1960's and was well loved. He worked for Heiner Equipment in Salt
Lake City until starting his own pest control business. He was a High Priest
in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as High Priest
group leader and stake missionary at various times. He attended the temple
often until he became too ill to do so. He was devoted to his grandchildren,
especially his grandson, Saxxon. He also had a deep affection for his beloved
dogs. Survived by his sons, Mitchell (Linda) Ryan and Darrell (Mindy) Ryan;
eight grandchildren; and brother, Donald Ryan. Preceded in death by his son,
Gregory; parents; brother, Jack; and sister, Dorothy Bauder. A memorial
service will be held on Wed., March 9th at 3 p.m. at the Murray 16th Ward
Chapel, 619 W. 5750 So, Murray, UT. Family will begin greeting friends at 2

Schneider, Noland H.
Noland H. Schneider 1927 ~ 2005 Noland H. Schneider passed away on March 7,
2005 due to the effects of cancer. Noland was born on August 14, 1927 in Salt
Lake City, Utah to Hyrum and Elma Schneider. He attended East High School and
then the University of Utah, where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha
fraternity. He received his law degree from the University of Utah Law School
and passed the Utah Bar Exam with the highest score in the state. He joined
the Merchant Marines at age 16 and later served in the Army and as an officer
in the Air Force. Noland was a lawyer by training but an entrepreneur at heart
and his greatest pleasure was in overcoming the greatest odds. He practiced
law, he prospected for uranium in Southern Utah and for black mica in Mexico,
he speculated in commodities (and almost had several hundred head of cattle
delivered to his home when he and his partner failed to close a contract
before the delivery date), he went from boom to bust during the uranium
frenzy, and invested successfully in many start up companies. He was the head
trader at Coombs & Company, a local stock brokerage firm, and a co-owner of
Utah Welder's Supply. Noland loved games of chance and, much to the delight of
his friends and family, invented several of his own. He enjoyed sit down ping
pong, locker room golf, bowling for dollars, and the pursuit of impossible
propositions like breaking 85 in golf within one year, trying to run a horse
through a full set of jumps at the Cottonwood Club horse show, and running
from the Alta Club to Willow Creek Country Club in less than four hours. He
was a great card player, particularly bridge and gin rummy. Noland was also an
avid golfer and belonged to the Salt Lake Country Club and the Springs Country
Club in Rancho Mirage, California. More than anything, Noland loved people and
people loved him. He was always willing to help his friends and there was
nothing he wouldn't do for his family. He adored his grandchildren and step
grandchildren and entranced them with his stories and outings. Noland loved
life and he lived it to its fullest. As he said, "I've had a pretty good run."
He is survived by Patty, his loving wife of 32 years; his sister Camilla Smyth
(Fred Smyth); his sons Mark Schneider (Mary Sloan) and Kirk Schneider (Nata
Schneider); his daughter Jeri Schneider; his step daughters Kathy Tarver
(Keith Tarver) and Carolyn Hunter (Drew Hunter); and his grandchildren Dylan,
Allie, Kacey and Carli Schneider, and Joseph and Leo Staten, and his step
grandchildren Robyn Urry, and Robbie Tarver. He was preceded in death by his
parents and by his sisters Phyllis Schneider and Kathryn Nuttall. There will
be a graveside service for family members at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery on Friday
March 11. Friends may call at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mausoleum 2350 E. 1300 S.
on Thursday March 10 from 6-8 p.m. Friends are also invited to attend a
celebration of Noland's life at the Salt Lake Country Club on March 11 from
3:30-6:00 p.m. The family suggests that donations be made to the Huntsman
Cancer Institute or the charity of your choice.

Sharp, Harold L. "Larry"
Harold L. Sharp "Larry" Harold L. Sharp, 84, passed away on March 4, 2005 in
Salt Lake City, Utah. Larry was born on December 4, 1920 in Salt Lake City,
Utah to Harold E. Sharp and Leah Davis. Larry served his country during World
War II, and was a master electrician. Larry is survived by his sons, Larry R.
and Cory D. Sharp, stepsons, Gary H. and David T. Bradshaw, and Gordon W.
Gordon, also brother Robert D. Sharp, along with 13 grandchildren. Funeral
Services will be Tuesday March 8, 2005, at 3 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary

Simmons, Harold
Harold Simmons 1919 ~ 2005 "A Life Well Lived" LAWRENCE- Alma Harold Simmons,
passed away March 6, 2005, after a long life filled with a loving family, many
good friends, much happiness, and a wonderful sense of humor. He was born
December 20, 1919 to Joshua and Mary Ellen Ammonette Simmons in Gilmer, Texas.
Married Helen Elizabeth Holst, Sept. 20, 1940, and with her, shared 62 years
of marriage. He had a long and distinguished career of 33 years with the Rio
Grande Railroad. He was a successful farmer and rancher, being recognized as
"Farmer of the Year" in 1978. He adored his family, always putting their needs
ahead of his own. Because of his warmth and wit, he was always surrounded by
good friends. He liked a good poker game with his buddies, happy children,
good horses, and fat cattle. He is survived by his daughter, Shari Carroll,
Holladay; son, Tim (Diane) Simmons, Lawrence; five grandchildren, Alice
Blossom, Texas; Mark (Donna) Carroll, Washington; Sara (Jason) Lamb, Helper;
Paul (Brianne) Simmons, Lawrence; Josh Simmons, Lawrence; 12
great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald Simmons, Ogden. Preceded in death by
his wife, Helen, seven brothers and one sister. Graveside service, Thurs.,

Slater, Kevin John
Kevin John Slater 1955 ~ 2005 Our loving son, brother, father, and
grandfather, Kevin John Slater, age 50, passed away March 5, 2005 doing what
he loved best, fishing with his father and son. He was born Jan. 20, 1955 in
American Fork, Utah to Roy John (RJ) and Lorena Abbott Slater. Kevin was a
truck driver for Geneva Rock. He had worked for KKAT and loved to be on the
radio. He loved hunting and fishing. He adored his grandchildren. Survived by
two sons, Steven John Slater, Salt Lake City; Travis Robert Slater, West
Valley City; Sharlene Ann Slater, Draper; three grandchildren, Devin, David,
and Hailey; his parents of Mona; one brother, Kirk (Nicki) Slater, Lehi; three
sisters, Kathleen (Terry) Lange, American Fork; Ann Marie Mair, Robertson, WY;
Alison (Jay) Sisson, Lehi. Preceded in death by his grandparents and two
grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday, March 11, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in

Thoresen, William Adolph
William Adolph Thoresen 1922 ~ 2005 William (Bill) Adolph Thoresen, loving
husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, 82, left this life
on March 7, 2005. He was born October 6, 1922, to Norwegian immigrants, Adolph
Marthinius and Therese Guenia Andersen Thoresen, in Providence, Rhode Island.
He spent his formative years in Rhode Island where he graduated from Central
High School in 1940. He participated in football and ice hockey during those
years. World War II saw Bill in the U.S. Army serving both in Europe and
stateside from 1943 to 1945. It was during his stateside service at the Ogden
Supply Depot that he met Pearl Mae Graham and married her in 1944. She was his
wife of 48 years. Following the war, Bill attended Brigham Young University,
graduating in Business Management in 1949. He and Pearl settled in Provo, Utah
and raised their three children, Kathlene, Stephen and Patricia. Bill spent
his career working for Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company, Springville,
Utah, and Seattle, Washington in various positions in Operations, Sales and
Purchasing. He retired from PSCIPCO after 42 years of service in 1989. He was
a member of many professional organizations, and served as President of the
Provo City Chamber of Commerce. Bill loved his wife Pearl, who passed away in
1992 at the age of 65. He never remarried. Bill was a family man. No father,
grandfather or great-grandfather was ever prouder of or loved his family more
than Bill did. Likewise, no father, grandfather or great-grandfather was ever
more loved by his children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren. Bill was an
avid golfer until ill-health precluded him from continuing playing many years
ago. He loved spectator sports as well, especially professional football and
golf. He regularly followed all major football and golf competitions through
the conclusion of his life. Bill was a man of integrity and was always the
perfect gentleman. Even in his ailing years, those who met him could see his
sweet spirit and loved him. His undying positive attitude and concern for
others, through decades with his infirm and aging body, are an example to all
of us. The family's hearts go out to the Staff of Orem Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center who loved and so tenderly cared for him on many
occasions during his latter years, including helping us so lovingly through
his death. Bill is survived by his sister Elsie Thoresen of Providence, Rhode
Island; his children, Kathlene Christensen of Fruit Heights, Utah; Stephen
Thorsesen (MaryAnn) of Orem, Utah; and Patricia Skousen (Phil) of Orem, Utah.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his wife, and by his parents. Funeral services will be
held Thurs., March 10, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel,
185 E. Center St., Provo. Friends may call Wed. evening, at the Mortuary, from

White, Grant Hamson
Grant Hamson White 1910 ~ 2005 Grant Hamson White was born in Brigham City
October 30, 1910. He died March 6, 2005 at the age of 94. Grant was an adored
husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Grant fell in love with
Blanche Hanson at the age of 18 and this love continued to deepen over the
next 67 years in this life and for all eternity in their present lives. Grant
was the consummate husband, father, friend and businessman. His life
flourished through his untiring zest and joy of living. People of all ages and
walks of life were drawn to him. Friends and family were enlivened by his
expansive spirit. These attributes were reflected until the day he died. The
loving staff at Courtyard at Jamestown expressed that Grant was always kind,
gracious and constantly appreciative of their effort and care. Grant graduated
from the University of Utah and went on to become a major presence in the coal
industry. He was involved with this work for 66 years until age 93. Grant and
Blanche lived 29 years in Boise, Idaho where they raised their daughters Darl
and Kristen. They enjoyed a life abundant with the joy of wonderful friends,
myriad hunting, fishing and social activities. Grant's love of the outdoors
and the friendships born from these activities brought him lasting happiness.
Their return to Salt Lake City brought them back to family and new friends who
became deeply treasured. Grant's daughters Darl and Kristen, sons-in-law
Charles and Curtis, grandchildren Tory, Cameron, and Clayton and brand new
great-grandson and namesake, Grant, brought him immeasurable pleasure and
happiness. A brief graveside service will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial
Park, 3401 Highland Drive, Thursday, March 10, 2005 at 12:30. All Grant's
friends, family and colleagues are invited to a grand celebration of his life
at Cottonwood Market Street Grill, 2985 E. 6580 S., from 1-3 p.m.

Yates, Sara D.
Sara D. Yates 1907 ~ 2005 Sara D. Yates, 97, formerly of Salt Lake City, Utah,
died peacefully in the arms of loved ones, February 28, 2005 in Anchorage,
Alaska. She was born in Cephas, Idaho, (two miles from Buhl) November 3, 1907.
Mrs. Yates moved to Anchorage in 1997 to live with her son Vern Martell Yates
and daughter-in-law Norene. Prior to moving, she was a member of the Mt.
Olympus 5th Ward, Mt. Olympus North Stake of the L.D.S. Church in Salt Lake.
Mrs. Yates and her husband C. Vern, were active in many church callings,
including many years on the General Boards of the Mutual Improvement Assn.
They were very involved in the dance programs of the church, as well as
professional dance instruction. They owned the Fred Astaire Dance Studio for
many years and independent studios prior to that. The Yates also supplied
quality dance music through records and tapes to many dance instructors and
organizations. Mrs. Yates had multiple interests and enjoyed them all - -
ready to wear store management, real estate, investments, property management,
dance studio and dance instructions and beauty consulting, having studied with
the John Robert Powers organization in New York. In addition to her General
Board callings, she was very active in the Relief Society and Daughters of the
Utah Pioneers. She had boundless energy and was loved and admired by friends
in many lands. She and her husband loved to travel when time permitted. After
moving to Anchorage, she published her autobiography, I DANCED THROUGH LIFE.
Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years C. Vern Yates,
November 23, 1985; also three sisters and three brothers. She is survived by
her son Vern Martell and his wife Norene, five grandchildren, 24
great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandsons. Her funeral will be held
at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple at noon on Thursday, March 10,
2005. Interment will be next to her husband in the Lehi, Utah Cemetery.

Jean Hill Zobell "Happy Once Again" BOUNTIFUL- Jean Hill Zobell, age 83,
passed away Saturday, March 5, 2005 in Layton, Utah. Born June 18, 1921 in
Marshfield, WI, the daughter of Leo Edgar and Freda Edna Bartman Hill. Married
Albert Levi Zobell, Jr. September 17, 1952 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Survived by her children Lois (Roger) Haynes, Stephen M. and (Le) Zobell;
grandchildren, Eric and Christian Hulse and sister-in-law Marie Zobell.
