Adams, Robin Marie
Robin Marie Adams 1963 ~ 2005 Our sister, aunt and friend died on March 15,
2005 in Salt Lake City at the age of 42. Robin was born January 15, 1963 in
Salt Lake City to Thomas L. and Eliza Etta Adams. She graduated from Orem High
School in 1982. Her favorite hobby was bowling, although she loved all sports
as well as participating in the Utah Special Olympics. She worked as a
customer service representative in the restaurant industry. Robin is survived
by sisters Priscilla Elahian, Patricia Walker and Charlotte Hickman; brother
Steven Anthony Adams, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and
cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas L. Adams and Eliza
Etta Adams. Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, March 22.
2005 at 11:30 a.m. at Living Waters Christian Fellowship Church located at 537
West 600 South, Salt Lake City. Interment to follow at Redwood Memorial
Estates Cemetery, located at 6500 South Redwood Road.

Alston, Helen E.
Helen E. Alston 1912 ~ 2005 Helen Ecker Alston passed away Friday, March 18,
2005 due to complications following a heart attack. She was born March 2, 1912
in San Diego, California to Bertha Schilling and Ludwig S. Ecker. She
graduated from San Diego High School and worked as a secretary for Concrete
Ship and for San Diego School District. She met Elmer Speirs Alston while he
was serving in the Navy in San Diego. They were married September 15, 1944 and
were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They came to Salt Lake City and
settled in the Sugar House area where they lived for many years. She was an
active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings including
secretary of each auxiliary. She was also active in PTA, the Floraculture
Garden Club and as a volunteer at LDS Hospital. She will be greatly missed by
her children, Barbara A., and husband, Donald O. Barney, and David W., and
wife, Nancy Ann Evans Alston; her nine grandchildren and spouses; and four
great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2005, 12
noon at the Larkin Chapel, 260 East South Temple St. where friends may call
Monday 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to the service. Interment in

Alvarado, Samuel E.
Samuel E. Alvarado Father and Friend Our cherished father, grandfather, and
great-grandfather passed away at home March 18, 2005 with his family at his
side after a short but valiant struggle with lung cancer. He was born December
30, 1917 and was raised in Brigham City. He was married to Maria for 59 years
and has dearly missed her since she passed away eight years ago. Now they are
together again! They had 12 children. Our father volunteered numerous hours
for translation services for personal friends and SL County Aging Services. He
loved to spend time at his daughter's cabin visiting family and fishing. He
often said that his kids were his best friends and spent lots of time on
"projects" with them. He is survived by his children, Mary St. Claire, Angie
Howell, Samuel A., Rita Burton (Jim), David (JoLynn Stewart), Rose (Ed
Trujillo), Julie (RickGriego), and John; 22 grandchildren; and several great
grandchildren. Preceded in death by children, Tony, Christine; and two
infants; as well as three sisters. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday,
11 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1975 South 2300 East, where friends
may call one hour prior to the mass. Committal, Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery,
4th Avenue and T Street. Funeral directors, Neil O'Donnell and Sons. Dad,
we'll miss you and remember you with warmth, joy and love.

Archibald, Lois Elaine Roberts
Lois Elaine Roberts Archibald 1922 ~ 2005 Our loving mother, grandmother, and
sister, Lois Elaine Roberts Archibald, 82, passed away March l8, 2005 after an
extended illness. Born May 3l, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Willard S. and
Nellie Avilda Johnson Archibald. Married David Edmund Archibald Sept. 29, l937
in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Lois was an active member of the LDS Church. She
was known and will be remembered for her generosity; and her greatest love was
her grand and great-grandchildren. Special thanks to the doctors and staff at
Care Source, her life was longer and better due to the loving care of Dr.
Stephen Aslami, and Dr. Mark Shockey. Survived by her children, Kay and Cedric
Armstrong, Joan and Paul Day, Ilene and Dennis Moore, and David and Gloria
Archibald; 18 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren; brother, W. Dean and
Gloria Roberts. Preceded in death by her husband, David; one grandson; and a
sister, Verla. Funeral services will be held Tues. 1 p.m. at the Millstream
Ward, 3400 So. 1100 E. Friends may call Monday at Broomhead Funeral Home,
12600 South 2200 West 6-8 p.m. and Tues. one hour prior to services at the

Barrett M.D., William W.
William W. Barrett M.D. 1917 ~ 2005 William W. (Bill) Barrett, M.D. was born
May 26, 1917 in Beaver, Utah to Cinda Murdock Barrett and William W. Barrett.
He passed away Thursday, March 17, 2005 from causes related to age. Bill
attended George Washington University where he graduated with a medical degree
and then he entered the Army during World War II serving as a doctor. It was
during this time that he met and married Helen E. Taylor in 1944. Together
they lived in New England and then returned to Salt Lake where he completed
his internship at the old St. Mark's Hospital. They moved to Carbon County
where Bill worked for the Sunnyside Mine taking care of the miners and then
moved to Helper and started his family practice. He was loved and respected by
all who knew him in the area and by the many families he helped. He later
moved to Salt Lake City where specialized in Psychiatry and started a private
practice and close association with St. Mark's Hospital. At the hospital he
served in many leadership positions. Bill was a lover of the outdoors and
spent many hours with his family and friends hunting, fishing and boating at
Flaming Gorge and Lake Powell. He also loved to ski and taught his children a
respect for nature and its beauty while enjoying the slopes of Alta. He and
Helen were active and enjoyed life. He was a charter member of Willow Creek
Country Club, The Ambassador Club, Rotary Club of Salt Lake and engaged in
many other charitable endeavors. He was preceded in death by Helen in October
of 1999. He is survived by three children, William (Julie), Michael
(Stephanie) and Penny, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and a
sister Joanne in California. The family wishes to thank Highland Cove Health
Care Center and all of its caregivers who made the last two years of Bill's
life comfortable. In addition a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Legacy
Healthcare for the attention and care given him. A graveside service will be
held Monday, March 21, 205 at 12:00 Noon at Mountain View Memorial, 3115 East
7800 South. Family and friends are invited to visit the family one hour prior

Butler, Sarah P.
Sarah P. Butler 1908 ~ 2005 WASHINGTON TERRACE - Our dear mother, grandmother,
aunt, and friend, Sarah Emma Perkins Butler, left the bounds of this earth and
joined her loving husband Thursday, March 17, 2005. Sarah was born June 16,
1908 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was the oldest of 12 children born to James
Emery and Lila Bess Perkins. Her early years were spent in Idaho and Ogden. On
November 21, 1923 she married Howard Leland Butler. They were later sealed in
the Logan LDS Temple March 4, 1943. Sarah was a surrogate mother to her 11
brothers and sisters as she was a helper to her mother and father. She and
Howard also took care of his mother and siblings. Howard and Sadie, as she was
called, had eight children. Sarah's life was one of service to her family, her
neighborhood, her church and country. She was a temple worker, a genealogist,
a seamstress, a poet, a good cook, and a rose gardener. She had a listening
ear for any who came to call and an open purse for any in need. Her husband
and sweetheart, Howard, died March 24, 1997. They had been married for 74
years. She is survived by one sister, Lois Johnson of California; her
children, Lorna Reeder, Ross (Elaine) Butler, Lila (Ken) Bingham, Ralph (Pat)
Butler, James Butler, Merle Bellon and Kayti (Bill) DePugh. Sarah has four
generations of immediate family. She was preceded in death by one daughter,
Montella Eddy; one son-in-law, Glen M. Reeder; and two grandsons, Wade Beus
and Kade Allen. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 2 p.m.
in the Larkin & Sons Mortuary, 496 24th St. Ogden, where friends may call
Monday, March 21, from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 1-1:45 p.m. Interment in the

Carter, Charlotte Warren
Charlotte Warren Carter 1920 ~ 2005 With a profound sense of gratitude for the
privilege of having been a part of her life, we announce the passing of
Charlotte Warren Carter March 17th, 2005. Charlotte was born July 1, 1920 in
Oak Park, Illinois to George Edward and Helen Pratt Warren. She attended
school in LaGrange, Illinois and graduated from the University of Illinois
with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Her membership in the Pi Beta Phi
sorority meant a great deal to her while in college and led her to many of the
lifelong friendships that she cherished. As World War II began to unfold,
Charlotte met a handsome young U.S. Air Corps officer, James T. Carter, Jr.,
on a blind date arranged by one of her sorority sisters. He was stationed
nearby at Chanute Field, and was bound for duty in North Africa. After a
two-family campaign to keep the romance alive through the war, Jim returned to
LaGrange to marry Charlotte and pull her away from her executive position at
Esquire Magazine in downtown Chicago to the wilds of Southern California where
their three sons were born. Charlotte and Jim moved to Salt Lake City in 1957
to raise their family and expand their devoted circle of friends. Charlotte
was an accomplished pianist, writer, swimmer, skier, and tennis player. After
getting her brood on its feet, she worked as a real estate agent and
volunteered significant time to the Westminster College Women's Board and
Wasatch Presbyterian Church. Charlotte's life, however, centered on her family
and friends. Her genuine interest in and affection for people was magnetic,
and she made new friends wherever she went. The world is a better place and we
have all been blessed by her presence. Charlotte's husband, Jim; and her
sister, Patricia, preceded her in death. She is survived by her three sons,
Jim (Jane Harrison), Tom (Mary McGill), and David (Nan); her beloved younger
brother, Jim Warren (Jan); three grandchildren, Davis, Harry, and Corinne; and
nieces and nephews, Marty, Julie, Jimmy, George, Joanne, and Nancy. Charlotte
was like a second mother to grandniece, Christine; and grandnephew, Steve. The
family wishes to thank the staff CareSource for their loving care and devotion
to Charlotte. A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 24th, 11 a.m. at
Wasatch Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you
make a contribution in her name to a charity of your choice. Westminster
College, Habitat for Humanity, and Wasatch Presbyterian Church were among her
favorites.

Evelyn Dobson 1909 ~ 2005 Evelyn Dobson, 95, passed away March 17, 2005 in
Salt Lake City. Born August 21, 1909 in Salt Lake City to William Osborne and
Mona May Forbes Carbis. Member of First Congregational Church served as
Financial Secretary for 20 years. Member of PEO Sisterhood, Chapter "I".
Member of Naomi Rebekah Lodge #1. Married Robert Howard Dobson October 23,
1937. Daughter Sandra Shipman (Herb), son Robert C. Dobson; five grandsons,
Robert M. (Katie) and Thomas W. (Lyn) Dobson; Robert, Rick (Michelle) and
Scott Sutton; two step-grandsons, Geoff and Russell Shipman; one
granddaughter, Lori (Randal) Clark; great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Van, Zakk
and Noah Sutton, Tyler and Paxton Sutton; step-grandchildren Dana, Denis and
Daniel Shipman; great grandchildren Seth and Garrett Dobson, Max and Megan
Dobson, Ashlyn, Alec and Zane Clark; one great- great-grandson, Kade
Olsen-Sutton. Preceded in death by her husband, son John H. Dobson, two

Draper, Antonia Dubbeld Clarke "Ann"
Antonia (Ann) Dubbeld Clarke Draper 1910 ~ 2005 Our wonderful mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away at age
95, March 16, 2005 in Midvale, Utah. Born January 14, 1910 in Rotterdam,
Netherlands to Nelis Dubbeld and Pieternella Plazier. Her father immigrated to
Salt Lake City, June, 1920, followed by her mother and their seven children in
February, 1921 as members of the LDS Church. Being the oldest child in her
large family she helped out by working at Paragon Printing at an early age.
Later worked at her father's business, The Deseret Potato Chip Co, the first
factory of its kind West of Denver. Also worked at Penny's, ending her working
career at Natter's Market in 1972. Married Thomas Edward Clarke, Sr., July 18,
1928. Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They had four
children. He died, June 2, 1963. She later married Harold A. Draper. Our
mother was an active and outgoing person, a devoted member of the LDS Church;
enjoyed sports, homemaking, gardening, sharing vegetables with others and
visiting friends and family. Also enjoyed many happy times fishing with
Harold, sisters and husbands; usually catching the biggest fish. Remaining
fluent in her native language she corresponded regularly with relatives
overseas. She gave wise counsel, teaching her children through example to be
good family members and citizens. As her posterity was born she took great joy
in educating and loving them. Devoted to her adopted country, she was a loyal,
upstanding citizen. Survived by children Dolores (Vern) Bullough, Salt Lake;
Thomas E (Sharon) Clarke Jr., Fruit Heights, UT; Joyce (Carl) Jensen, Midvale,
UT; brother William (Doris) Dubbeld, Salt Lake; brother-in-law William West,
Mt. Green, UT; 13 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; many nieces and
nephews. Preceded in death by parents; spouses; daughter Donna Wyatt;
granddaughter Rebecca Bullough Horne; great-granddaughter Jessica Smith;
sisters Lena West, Madge Leven, Nell Sieverts, Gert Rogers, Betty Leaden, Etta
Dall, Frances Gammenthaler; brothers Anton and Cornelis Dubbeld. We appreciate
the staff and residents of Heather Ridge Home for their loving, gentle care of
our mom. Hearts for Hospice made Mom's last few months easier. We thank all of
you. Funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 21st at Wandamere Ward, 304

Edwards, Keith Duron
Keith Duron Edwards 9/21/1924~3/14/2005 Keith Duron Edwards, age 80, of Salt
Lake City, UT, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 14, 2005 in Salt Lake
City, UT. Keith was born September 21, 1924 in Sterling, UT to Carlyle LaMar
and Ila Peacock Edwards. He was one of five brothers. At the age of 17 he
joined the Navy with his brother LaMar, serving in the battle of Midway while
at sea. Because of his interest and talent in rock-work he started his own
business, Utah Flagstone Company, which he earned his living until retirement.
Keith had a deep love for the German traditions and was an accomplished folk
dancer, and taught himself the German language. He enjoyed reading anything
historical and loved the desert, hot weather and Mt. Olympus. Keith is
survived by his two daughters, Marlene (Joe) Lehman of Salt Lake City, Utah,
Patti (Dwayne) Seiter, of Mesa, Arizona; nine grandchildren, 11
great-grandchildren; two brothers, LaMar (Wardella) Edwards, Rodney Edwards,
and also his dear friend Joyce Stewart. Preceded in death by his parents and
two brothers, Wayne and Leon. Graveside services for Keith will be held on
Monday March 21, 2005 at 1:00 PM at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111
South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, UT. Interment: Utah Veterans Memorial

Elliott, Leda M.
Leda M. Elliott 1932 ~ 2005 LeElda (Leda) Morton Elliott died at home. Born
April 17, 1932 to William John and Sarah Jessie Needham Morton. Married La Don
D. Elliott December 28, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was an active
member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various
callings throughout the years. She was probably best known for her large
penguin collection. Every size, shape, color and all kinds of penguin articles
were around her home. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, ceramic painting,
spending time at home with her family, and also enjoyed the company of her
friends at the Kearns Senior Center. Survived by two children: Vicky Lee
McPhie and Terry W. (Lisa) Elliott, both of West Jordan; seven grandchildren;
15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one
brother and one sister. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 22,
2005 at 11 a.m. at the Welby 4th Ward, 9376 south 4000 west in West Jordan.
Friends and family may visit from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at McDougal Funeral Home,
4330 S. Redwood Road and also one hour prior to services at church. Interment
will be at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road.

Hamblin, Margaret Gore
Margaret Gore Hamblin 4/11/16 ~ 3/12/05 To my beloved families and friends.
Birth and death are parts of the great gift of life. Though I am reluctant to
leave you, I now know what comes next. It's been a wonderful life for me. Full
of love; shared joys and sorrows, failures, and successes, learning from each
of them. So please, no tears. Celebrate our love and remember me with joy.
Preceded in death by husband, Marvin T. Hamblin. Survived by: sister Anna G.
Moyar; daughter Troy H. Davis (John); grandchildren: Rob Morrison (Tracy),
Cyndi Bohan (Mike), Michele Davis (Joe), Melissa Caamano (Ben), Antoinette
Martinez (Leroy), and Eric Davis (Wendy); also 11 great-grandchildren. A
special thanks to the caring staff at Crosslands Rehabilitation Center.

Hardman, Steven Burdette
Steven Burdette Hardman 1955 ~ 2005 Steven Burdette Hardman passed away on
March 18, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah at age 49. Steven was born to Jesse
LeRoy and Betty Jayne Sperry Hardman on June 24, 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was a very special spirit. He endeared himself to people with his
infectious sense of humor. He endured countless injuries throughout his life
with unbelievable courage, tolerance and determination. He loved and valued
working as much as he was able. He was a great fan of the Jazz and a collector
of movie videos (350). Steven was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. He loved his family very much and truly enjoyed his nieces
and nephews, especially when they were young. He taught us all patience,
tolerance, compassion and love. He will be sorely missed, but we accept his
"sweet release." Survived by his mother, Betty Hardman Harris, brothers -
Michael (Monica); Richard (Elaine); Kevin (Lesley) and eight nieces and
nephews. Preceded in death by his father, stepfather, Wilson Harris, and his
grandparents. The family wishes to thank all the providers and caregivers who
saw the "heart" in Steven and helped him through his many trials to be "all
that he could be." Special thanks to CareSource Hospice for their tender and

Heaps, Nancy Jeanne
Nancy Jeanne Heaps 1942 ~ 2005 KAYSVILLE - Nancy Jeanne Daugherty Heaps, 62,
of Kaysville, Utah, passed away Friday, March 18, 2005. She was born April 7,
1942 to Robert Henry and Elsie Amelia Thorpe Daugherty. She married Melvin
LeGrande Heaps August 10, 1961, and was later divorced. Nancy was a devout
member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Nancy was a
beautiful woman a loving mother of four children, Michael, Tamara, Cory and
Marc, and grandmother to ten grandchildren. She had great strength and courage
and exhibited unselfish devotion to her family her entire life. Nancy is
survived by her children, grandchildren, three brothers, one sister and
several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on
Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at the Kaysville City Cemetery. Friends may call
Tuesday from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield

Lang, Nellie P.
Nellie P. Lang 1905 ~ 2005 DUCHESNE - Nellie Pearson Lang, age 99, died March
18, 2005 at the home of a granddaughter. She was born April 3, 2005 in
Huntington, Utah to John Peter Pearson and Sarah Ellen Mathis. She married
George Herbert Lang September 12, 1928 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died
April 14, 1956. Was an active member of the LDS Church and served in various
church callings. Member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Served a stake
mission and supported many missionaries through the years. Was a temple worker
in the Provo and Vernal Temples. Spent many hours doing family research and
genealogy. She is survived by one daughter, Donna LaMunyon, Logan; sister,
Verl Nelson; and sister-in-law, Geneva Pearson; 15 grandchildren; 63
great-grandchildren; and 32 great great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by
one daughter and four sons, Arva Potter, Ralph, Lamar, Frank and Joseph;
sons-in-law, Elton Potter and Harold LaMunyon; brothers and sisters,
Christina, Lucy, Ervin, Alton, Francis, Dora May, Oren, Zetta, Zelpha, Alice,
Von, Nina, and Earl, Grandson Wallace Potter; and great-grandson, Matthew

Le, Khang Dinh
Khang Dinh Le 1945 ~ 2005 Our beloved son, husband, father, grandfather,
brother, and uncle, Khang Dinh Le, passed away March 18, 2005 at the age of 59
after a nine-month courageous battle against cancer. He was known for his
great sense of humor, his optimism and his dedication to family and friends.
He was born and spent the first 50 years of his life in Vietnam, where he
obtained his Law Degree, practiced Law briefly, then became an officer of the
South Vietnamese Army. When the communists took over Vietnam in 1975, the new
government imprisoned him for seven years. Unable to practice Law again after
being released, he set his pride aside and worked every and any job to provide
for his family. Despite all the hardships that he had to face, he made sure to
teach his children the value of hard work and education to ensure their future
success. In 1996, he and his family left Vietnam to immigrate to the United
States as refugees. He worked tirelessly against all odds to establish himself
and his family. His children, under his guidance and loving support, went on
to become productive and successful members of society. He left this life
knowing that he had done everything he could for his family, knowing that his
wife, children, parents, and siblings adore him, respect him and are grateful
for his devotion and his endless sacrifice for them. Services will be held
Sunday, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road.

Lott, James Linden
James Linden Lott "Wendover or Bust" James Linden Lott, age 67 died on March
19, 2005, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on September 6, 1937, in
Wilmington, California to James R. Lott and Florence Greenfield. He married
Martha R. Riley June 20, 1964, later Divorced. He worked for 29 years for Salt
Lake County. He loved to spend time with his buddies in the coffee club at
Harmons. Enjoyed weekly trips to Wendover and providing for his grandchildren.
Those who knew him, knew he was the cat with nine lives. He is survived by:
son; David O. (Candee), four grandchildren; Staci Canfield, Tad, David L, and
Chyentel Lott. Graveside Services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2005. at 1
p.m., in the Utah Veterans Memorial Park. A viewing will be held Tuesday,
March 22, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. At Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 S. Highland Drive.
Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Park. We would like to thank the staff of
Harmony Hospice and the staff at the Utah Cancer Specialists for their loving

Lowe, Sherman
Sherman Lowe 1914 ~ 2005 Sherman Burton Lowe was born August 26, 1914 in
Grace, Idaho to Moroni Wilson and Mary Ann "Annie" Burton Lowe. He passed away
peacefully on March 17, 2005 at the age of 90. Sherman completed grade school
and high school in Grace, Idaho. He attended one year at Utah State University
in the School of Business from 1932 - 1933. The next four years were spent at
Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho graduating with a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Pharmacy in 1937; there he served as the Student Body
President. He completed the Dale Carnegie Course and was a certified
instructor in Human Relations and Effective Speaking classes. As a member of
the faculty of the University of Utah, he was a lecturer at the School of
Pharmacy. On June 20, 1940, Sherman married Nina Corinne Olsen in the Salt
Lake Temple. After their marriage, Sherman and Nina began their lives together
in Paris, Idaho. They eventually settled in Salt Lake City where they raised
their six children, Karen Nelson, Robert Lowe, Barbara Johnson, JoAnn Smith,
Thomas Lowe and Howard Lowe. Throughout his business career, Sherman was a
senior partner of the Lowe Drug Company, operating a chain of nine retail
pharmacies in Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. His most recent business endeavors
were spent at Lowe's Pharmacies in Salt Lake City operating pharmacies on 1st
South and in the Bryner Clinic. He was President of Business Enterprises,
Inc., Chairman of the Board of Burton Laboratories, Inc., Vice-President of
the Bonneville Life Insurance Company in Salt Lake City and Vice-President of
Lowe's Investment Company of Idaho. Sherman was an active member of the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings and
enjoyed his home teaching responsibilities. In Paris, Idaho he served as a
first counselor in the bishopric at the Paris 1st Ward. He successfully served
as a member of the Lions Service Club for 22 years and in 1949 received the
distinguished title of "International Director". In 1959 he was elected a
member of the Board of Directors of the Lions Club. Sherman served as an
Administrative Assistant to the Governor of Utah, George D. Clyde, for 3 1/2
years. He also participated on the Board of Trustees at Weber State College
for 8 years. He served on the Board of Directors of the Security National Life
Insurance Company for 25 years. He was also a member of the Board of Directors
of the Utah State Pharmaceutical Association and a Fellow of the American
College of Apothecaries. As an avid Republican, he served two terms as the
Salt Lake County Chairman. Sherman is survived by his wife, Nina, their six
children and their spouses, Karen and Paul Nelson, Robert and Minnie Lowe,
Barbara and Keith Johnson, JoAnn and Douglas Smith, Thomas and Marsha Lowe and
Howard and Anne Lowe; twenty eight grandchildren; five great - grandchildren;
four great-grandchildren on the way; two brothers, Karl Lowe , Reed Lowe, and
one sister Norma Molen. He was truly loved by his family and enjoyed the
surroundings with Sunday dinners at home. His mashed potatoes and bowls of
buttered popcorn will be remembered by his grandchildren for years to come.
His grandchildren would constantly call on his scholarly advice for input and
answers when needed for their school work. He was a staunch political follower
and an avid reader of politics and constantly enjoyed discussing Republican
issues. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 12 noon,
at the Parley's 6th Ward (2350 South 2100 East). Friends may call Monday
evening at Wasatch Lawn (3401 Highland Drive) from 6 - 8 p.m. and one hour
prior to the funeral service at the ward. The family would like to express
their gratitude and appreciation for the love and care he received at Brighton
Gardens. The family deeply appreciates the physical, emotional and spiritual
support from the staff at Hospice for Utah.

Maxwell, Deana Turnbow
Deana Turnbow Maxwell Our Angel Wife and Mother Deana Turnbow Maxwell, our
beautiful and beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and
special aunt, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Wednesday, March
16th after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Deana was born on July 9,
1930 in Heber City, Utah to Dorothy (Birdie) Barker and Horace (Bill) Turnbow.
Deana married the love of her life Clive Miles Maxwell on June 4, 1947. They
were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple June 24, 1960 along with her
parents. Deana (along with her twin sister Darlene) is the oldest of six
children. Growing up in Heber, Deana is adventurous, outgoing and vivacious.
Deana, her twin and friends were involved in many fun-spirited capers during
their high school years at Wasatch High. She was the life of the party and the
heart of our family. These traits would stay with her through her entire life.
Deana is loved by her entire family and everyone blessed enough to have known
her. Mother worked for Dr. Conklin, who was visually impaired, doing all of
his needle work (injections). She loved this job and made many friends. She
worked there to help support her two sons who were serving missions at the
same time. Mom obtained her real estate license in 1977 and was a member of
the Salt Lake Board of Real Estate for many years, which she enjoyed very
much. Often, mom would give part or all of her own commission to help the
buyer qualify. For many years she and her husband owned and operated a
successful electrical contracting business. Deana loved spending time with her
family, cooking, reading, shopping and traveling. She and her husband enjoyed
traveling the California and Oregon coast in the summer and in the winter as
avid snowbirds in Arizona. She had a flair for cooking and could make any dish
taste divine. She served with gracious enthusiasm in many church callings. She
especially enjoyed working with the youth as it gave her the opportunity to be
with her children as she served the Lord. Mother was truly a choice daughter
of our Father in Heaven. Whenever she saw anyone in need, she always did all
she could to help. She especially loved sharing a good story and spent
countless hours on the telephone with friends and family. Survived by her
loving and eternal companion Clive; sisters Darlene (Eugene) Probst, Mary
Parcell, Gaye (Joe) McPhie, Kent (Gale) Turnbow, Mark (Jean) Turnbow;
children: Alan (Bonnie) Maxwell, Vance Maxwell, Brenda Turner, Jana (Boyd)
Summers, Sandra (Dan) Martinsen, and LuAnn (Jeff) Abeyta; 30 grandchildren,
and 27 great-grandchildren Preceded in death by her parents Birdie and Bill
Turnbow, mother and father-in-law Lynn and Eloise Rockhill, son Brian Kent
Maxwell, and son-in-law Keith E. Turner. Funeral services will be held on
Monday, March 21, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Murraydale Ward chapel located at
6300 So. 300 E. Friends and family are invited to visit at the Cannon
Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 So.) Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and 10:00-10:45
a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at the Midway
Cemetery. The family would like to thank those who cared for our darling wife
and mother: Dr. William Nibley and staff, Cottonwood Hospital 5th floor
nursing staff, Heritage Brookside Home Health Care (Gary Fudyma), and

McCarthy, Bev
Bev McCarthy 5/14/23 ~ 3/16/05 Mom surrendered to age on March 16, 2005
leaving her family and friends with wonderful memories of a loving, kind and
caring woman. She was the prototype soccer mom. She saw virtually every game
or event in which her children ever participated. She often took entire teams
to games then fed them afterward. She made our home the center of the
neighborhood. She was well known for packing the old Chrysler beyond capacity
with whatever kids were around and trundling us off to Lagoon or a drive-in
movie. Spontaneity was one of her long suits. Her wonderful sense of humor and
boundless heart made her a natural counselor and confessor to all. She was
everyone's favorite. As her children grew, she spent her time reveling in her
grandchildren and, not surprisingly, she became a master bridge player. She
volunteered at Holy Cross Hospital and Travelers Aid and truly loved all
animals. Our wonderful mother really will be missed. She married Jack McCarthy
on October 8, 1943 in Denver Colorado. Mom and dad enjoyed 22 years together
until his death in 1965. Mom is survived by her four children: Jim, Tim
(Erika), Terry and Margie; grandchildren, Mary Megan, Sam, Mary, Kate,
Patrick, and Christopher; sisters, Carol and Judy; many nieces and nephews. As
per Mom's wishes she was cremated. Her memorial and wake services will be
announced at a later date. In lieu flowers the family requests donations be

McMullin, Craig F.
Craig F. McMullin 1956 ~ 2005 Craig F. McMullin, 48, died March 16, 2005 of a
heart attack. Born October 2, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Richard and
Helen Ilene Dahlquist McMullin. Craig was a kind gentle spirit with a great
sense of humor. He always had a smile for everyone. He was a member of The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Craig served in the US Army in
Italy during the early 80's. He volunteered full time at the V.A. Hospital for
the last five years and received several awards for his service. He is
survived by his daughter Carlinda (Dave) Dringle; two grandsons Kristopher and
Tyler Walls; his father Richard McMullin; three brothers Roger (Terry), Dana
(Tammi) and Alan (Linda) McMullin. Also many nieces and nephews. He was loved
and will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his
mother; and a son, Timothy. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11:00 am.

Darlene L. Anderson Mietchen The Greatest Mom Darlene L. Anderson Mietchen,
age 75, died on March 17, 2005 at home in her sleep. She was born on March 5,
1930 in Swedetown, SLC, UT to Henry Carl and Lenora Anderson. She married Earl
L. Mietchen on February 24, 1954. Her biggest accomplishment was the love she
had for her family and that she worked tirelessly to keep them happy. She
enjoyed going to movies since childhood and church activities. She is survived
by her husband, Earl; children Bernie (Mary), Jackie (Derrell), Kenny
(Mary-Timmy), Tammy (Mike); 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;
brothers, Weymouth and Jack Anderson. She is preceded in death by her parents;
and brothers, Lamar and Doug Anderson. Funeral services will be held on
Monday, March 21, 2005, 12 noon at Sonrise Baptist Church (3550 South 4400
West, West Valley City). Friends and family may call Sunday evening 6-8 p.m.

Nelson, James R. "Jim"
James R. (Jim) Nelson Loving Husband & Father Jim was born in Ontario, Oregon
in 1931. He served honorably in the US Air Force from 1949 to 1952. He met and
married Orva Marie Hawkes in 1956. Jim loved to travel, work in his yard, and
hold a raspberry social each summer. He loved the gospel, his service
experience on Welfare Square, and missionary service. He loved his family and
was proud of all his children and their families. Dad, we love you and will
miss you. Survived by wife Orva Nelson, daughter Troba (Steve) Mangum,
daughter Nikki (Bill) Meadows, son Larry Nelson, son Jeff (Chris) Nelson, and
brother Victor (Jan) Nelson, several loving grandson's, granddaughters, and
great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the AMU unit at the VA
Hospital especially Eileen Williamson. Also, thanks to Jordan Valley Hospital
ICU for their kind, attentive care during his final days. Funeral Services

Norton, Reed
Reed Norton 1922 ~ 2005 Reed Norton, age 82, died peacefully at the home of
his daughter Tonya on March 18, 2005 surrounded by family after a long
struggle with cancer. He was born June 22, 1922 in Panguitch, Utah to William
Taylor and Elsie Dean Smith Norton. He was raised in Panguitch, Utah. He met
Audrey Smith while stationed in Seattle, Washington. They were married March
24, 1943. Shortly afterwards he was sent to the Aleution Islands where he
spent the remainder of World War II. Mom and Dad were married for 61 years.
Dad was in the Navy and later transferred to the Airforce. He was a loving
father to his three children, Tonya, Jeraldine, and Darial. He worked at Hill
Field as an Aircraft Mechanic for many years. He retired at the age of 53. He
loved music, played the harmonica and guitar. He loved Country-Western music.
He loved fishing and golfing. He spent many years golfing, and golfed right up
until the snow came this last year. He and Mom spent many winters in Yuma,
Arizona where they made many lifelong friends. He is survived by his children,
Tonya (Lynn) Fernelius, Jeraldine (Brent) Kailing and Darial (Janese) Norton;
eight grandsons, Scott, Kelly, Michael, Kurt, Jason, Jeremy, Taylor, and
Christopher; three granddaughters, Kim, Dareth, and Jill; 13 great
-grandchildren; one brother Jack (Sylvia) Norton, and one sister Beth Partner.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, and one grandson Cory
Reed Fernelius; three sisters Cecil, Edith, and Lola; and three brothers,
Jean, Ken, and Don. We as a family would like to say thank you to Harmony
Hospice for their help, kindness and compassion they showed Dad and the
family. Thank you Heather, Bonnie, Sue, and Dana. Funeral services will be
held on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful

William "Bill" Arthur Richins 1921 ~ 2005 VERNAL - William "Bill" Arthur
Richins, 83, of Vernal passed away March 17, 2005. He was born April 16, 1921
to Jesse Edward and Rosa Pearl Gurr Richins in Vernal. He served his country
in the United States Army. He married Velma Loree Timothy, she died in 1951.
He married Maurine Corless May 23, 1952. Bill loved to go fishing, camping,
and hunting. He loved to spend time with family at reunions. He enjoyed
spending time in his garden and going to the horse races. He loved to sing,
play the guitar, harmonica, and the steel guitar. He enjoyed watching his
grandchildren and great-grandchil-dren with their sporting activities. He is
survived by his wife, Maurine; children, Leta (Leo) Snow of Jensen, Cherie
Bascom of Sandy, Nick (Robyn) Richins of Vernal, Lana (Monty) Lee of Blanding,
Marlene (Tom) Wilhelm of Vernal; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and
one great great-grandchild; brother and sisters, Lyle Richins of Steamboat
Springs, Leona Bowthorpe, and Venna Barrett of Vernal. He is preceded in death
by his father and mother; a granddaughter, Lori Kaye Bascom; brothers, Ar-chie

Shea, Nondus Budge
Nondus Budge Shea 1920 ~ 2005 Nondus Budge Shea, 84, passed away March 17,
2005 at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah from complications of Alzheimer's.
She was born April 8, 1920 in Brigham City, Utah to Preston and Irene Holmes
Budge. She graduated from South High in 1938 where she was the first chair
violinist in the orchestra. She graduated from LDS Business College in 1940.
She married Richard D. Shea February 14, 1942 in Salt Lake City; later
solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a faithful member of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as Relief Society president,
Primary president, and Jr. Sunday School coordinator. She had a lifelong
testimony and devotion to the church. Nondus loved to read, do needle work,
cook and garden, and was the consummate hostess. She was an expert consultant
for Home Interiors which was reflected in the beauty of her home. She was the
heart of our family. Nondus is survived by her devoted husband, Richard;
daughter, Patricia (Jorge) Casillas; daughter-in-law, Sandy Shea; son, Michael
(Deena) Shea; sister, Arlene Johnson; brother, Brent (Carol) Budge; 14
grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one expected great
great-grandchild. Preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorothy; son,
Richard; and great-granddaughter, Haley. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m.
Wednesday March 23, 2005 at the Ensign 2nd Ward Chapel, 135 A St., Salt Lake

Smith, Garold Earl "Joe"
Garold "Joe" Earl Smith Still Fishin' Joe E. Smith passed away peacefully
surrounded by his loving family March 18, 2005 joining his father, Garold
Owen; and nephew, Bernie Lyon, in the ultimate fishing adventure. Joe was born
October 24, 1957 to Alice Fenton and Garold Owen and was adopted by Herb Smith
in 1964. Joe loved fishing and anything to do with the great outdoors. He had
a heart as big as the great outdoors and was loved by all who knew him. Joe is
survived by his loving wife, Terry; five children, Daniel (Chrissy) Smith,
Angel (Josh) Coic, Heather (Jon) Jackson, and sons Jeremy Boyd and Jeffery
Emery; 13 grandchildren; his mother; four brothers; three sisters, and
numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins, all of whom were his fishing buddies. A
memorial service will be held Thursday, March 24, 2005, 11 a.m. at Redwood
Memorial Estates, 6500 S. Redwood Road, with a gathering for family members
and close friends beginning at 10 a.m. The family is taking donations in lieu
of flowers.

Stevens, Earl Orson
Earl Orson Stevens 1918 ~ 2005 HOLDEN - Earl Orson Stevens, 86, passed away
March 18, 2005 at his home in Holden, Utah. He was born December 18, 1918 in
Holden, Utah and was the youngest son of Orson Albert and Josephine Alvira
Ockerman Stevens. He married Lola McKee September 11, 1941 in Salt Lake City,
Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple March 19,
1965. They were the parents of four children, Roy, Carolyn, Gale, and Hal.
Earl was a World War II Army Veteran where he served in the South Pacific; He
provided for his family by traveling as an insulator and was also a
farmer/rancher in the Holden area. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to
hunt, fish, pick pine nuts and cut firewood. His wife, Lola, was his best
friend and they spent lots of time fishing together and just enjoying life. He
also loved watching sports of all kinds. He was an active member of the LDS
Church, having served in various callings throughout his life, including a
mission in Dublin, Ireland with his wife, Lola. Earl is survived by his three
children, Roy (Kathie) of Montpelier, Idaho, Carolyn (Thayne) Henrie of Delta,
and Hal (Sandy) of Price, Utah. He has 17 grandchildren and 13
great-grand-children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola; a daughter,
Gale Caress; one sister, Elsie; and his brothers, Ray, Bert, Grant, and Weir.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Holden
LDS Ward Chapel. Friends and family may pay their respects Monday evening at
the Church in Holden from 7-8:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. also at

Rev. Msgr. John Joseph Sullivan 1926 ~ 2005 Monsignor John Joseph Sullivan, a
native of Tooele, Utah, died St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2005. He was born
May 28, 1926. After attending public schools in Tooele, he attended Saint
Joseph's College in Mountain View, California, and St. Patrick's Seminary in
Menlo Park. He was ordained a priest in the Cathedral of the Madeleine May 13,
1951. Most of his priestly life was dedicated to parish ministry, where his
love for people, especially the poor, made him so well loved. He served as
pastor at Saint Olaf Parish, Bountiful, in Bingham Canyon and Copperton, at
Saint Patrick's in Salt Lake City, Saint Marguerite's in Tooele and finally at
Saint Ann Parish, Salt Lake City. In each assignment, Monsignor encouraged
devotion to the Most Holy Eucharist and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary,
evidenced by the annual Rosary rally at Saint Ann Parish. It was his practice
to visit homes of parishioners, to reach out to those in need, especially
through the Legion of Mary. He enjoyed parish socials that built community
spirit. Monsignor Sullivan was known as a builder. In Copperton, West Jordan
and Tooele he built parish facilities, as he did at Saint Ann's in Salt Lake.
So too, he was a builder of pride and self-esteem for minority groups,
especially Hispanics. During his tenure in Bingham Canyon he was an ardent
supporter of workers' rights to unionize. His support for Catholic Education
epitomized his love for youth. His efforts to counteract gang influence
amongst youth were outstanding. At the Diocesan level Monsignor served as a
consulter to two bishops, and on numerous committees. He was named a Prelate
of Honor in January of 1988, and a Protonotary Apostolic in April of 2001 by
Pope John Paul II, in recognition of his years of faithful devotion to the
works of the Catholic Church. He was a member of the Equestrian Order of the
Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. He worked hard, served generously, and spoke his
mind as occasion required. His personal lifestyle was simple, his charity
unseen. He is survived by his sister, Eileen Kramer, of Anchorage, Alaska; and
three nephews, Joseph, Timothy, and Charles; as well as many friends
throughout Utah. He was preceded in death by his niece, Diana Crapps. Special
thanks to staff and residents at Christus St. Joseph Villa, where Monsignor's
last years were specially blessed. In lieu of flowers, please make donations
to the scholarship fund for needy students at Keams-St. Ann School. A Funeral
Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 23, 2005, 11 a.m. at the Cathedral of
the Madeleine, 331 E. South Temple. A vigil service will be held Tuesday at 7
p.m., March 22, 2005 also at the Cathedral with a viewing to follow.

Tso, Anthony Fredrick "Tony"
Anthony (Tony) Fredrick Tso 3/18/63 ~ 3/14/05 To'aheedli'inii (Water Joins
Clan) born for Kinyaa'aanii (Towering House Clan) of the Navajo Nation. Our
beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle and nephew returned to his
Creator on March 14, 2005. He will be greatly missed by all. Tony was a
compassionate and loving person. His guidance and patience brought us together
through joy and happiness with his witty humor. Tony's spiritual life was of
great importance to him and his family. While residing in Escondido, CA. Tony
specialized in custom cabinetry and wood working. He loved music and was very
artistic. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah he was the 11th of 13
children. Survived by his wife Maria Louisa Cisneros (1988) and sons, Thomas
Stephen 14, Serek Adam 11, and Olando Ivan 7. Born to William R. (deceased)
and Amelda F. Tso. His brothers and sisters are Mathilda (deceased), Phillip
(Jan), William P. (Charlene), Virginia, Wilma (Bret), Gladys (Bounmy),
Wilfred, Theresa, Imelda (Michael), Arlene (Pete), Elizabeth, and Andrew.

van der Heiden, Maria
Maria (Mia) van der Heiden 1929 ~ 2005 Maria van der Heiden, age 75, died
March 18, 2005. She was born July 30, 1929 in Holland to proud parents
Johannes and Johanna Ydema. She married Albertus van der Heiden in November
1952. They immigrated to Utah in 1956. Mia loved classical music, Ray Charles,
BB King, the Beatles, and even opera. She loved good books, her grandkids,
clean windows, Cadillac's, San Francisco, drinking coffee, and running in the
sprinklers, lunch with Lillian and Madeline, watching sports on TV, winning
money from Bob, the color orange, and life itself. She spent her 70th birthday
driving the red convertible she always wanted. She is survived by husband,
Albert; their children, Andre (Jeanette), Al (Lezlie), and Johanna, Bert
(Gaylia); grandchildren, Joseph, Shaun, Erin, Juanita, Kevin; sister-in-law,
Henny; numerous nieces and nephews; sister, Agnes; brother, Guus; friends,
Lillian, Madeline, Pat, and Joos. She was preceded in death by parents;
brothers, Guus, Hans; brother-in-law, Bob. A gathering will be held March 24,
2005, 3-5 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Road. Friends and
family will gather at Mia and Alberts house that evening. Erin says extra
points if you wear orange. Mom's life was real, with good and bad times. She
hoped for everyone to achieve their dreams and taught us all the gift of
forgiveness.

Vasquez, Gloria Marie
Gloria Marie Vasquez 1929 ~ 2005 Our beloved mother, grandmother, and
great-grandmother, Gloria Marie Vasquez, peacefully returned home Friday,
March 18, 2005. She was born April 3, 1929 in Eureka, Utah. Out of 11, she is
the eighth child to Narciso S. Vasquez and Trinidad Enriquez. She is survived
by daughter, Lupe Ana Trinidad Pratt; grandson, Erik Cesar (Shauna) Pena;
granddaughter, Justein Monic Pena; great-grand-daughters, Abigail Marie Pena
and Ariana Guadalupe Monic Pena; brother, Hyme Vasquez; sister, Lydia Vasquez;
stepdaughter, Irene Merca-do; stepson, Joey Mercado; grandchildren, John,
Jennifer, Elizabeth, Anna, Toni, Michael, Mellisa, Isabell, and Cassie; and
numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by mother and father; brothers
and sisters, Jesus, John, Narciso, Margaret, Cruz, Elvira, Ruth, and Emilio.
We would like to thank the staff of Arlington Hills, CareSource Hospice, and
Dr. Michael Jones. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, March 24, 2005, 10 a.m.
at St. Therese Catholic Church, 624 West Lennox St., Midvale. Friends may call

appreciated. "They say there are angels among us. I believe, because my Mom
was one. Now she watches over all of us. My Mom was a very strong woman. She
grew up along with her sisters and brothers during the depression. Their
father died when the youngest was in diapers and the oldest was 14 years old,
so along with their mother they worked in the vegetable fields in Oregon and
Idaho. They had a hard life, but they worked together and were a close and
loving family when their mother was alive, who was also a wonderful lady. My
Mom worked very hard to raise me. She only had one child, me - Guadalupe Ana
Trinidad Pratt. I was very lucky to have her for a mother. My Mom could change
the oil and filter of her truck, and even change a flat tire. My Mom was a
great cook. You never left our home hungry or empty-handed. She had many
friends and she loved them all. Lou Cooper, I love you. My Mom was a
seamstress and she loved her roses, and loved her cat Delilah."

Vasquez, Jose A.
Jose A. Vasquez 7/16/1935 ~ 3/18/2005 Jose returned to our Heavenly Father and
his mother March 18, 2005. He is survived by his wonderful wife of 44 years,
Estella Vasquez. He has eight children with many grandchildren and
great-grandchildren, which he loved dearly. will be missed by all. A viewing
will be held Monday, March 21, 2005, 6 p.m. with a Rosary 7 p.m. at St.
Therese Catholic Church, 624 West Lennox Street, Midvale, Utah. Funeral Mass
will be held Tuesday, 10 a.m. at the church. Interment to follow at Redwood

Weir, Barbara Ball
Barbara Ball Weir 1930 ~2005 Barbara Ball Weir died March 11, 2005. She was
born in Bingham Canyon, UT to Margaret and Rufus Ball on July 2, 1930.
Preceded in death by her mother and father, her husbands, Carlyle B Sorenson
and Philip R Ullom; her brothers Charles and Larry Ball. She is survived by
her husband William Weir; children, Sharon Johnson, Carla McCLayn, Russel
(Robyn) Sorenson; David (Michelle) Sorenson, Fred (Arlene) Weir; 13
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be Saturday,10 a.m.
April 2nd, at the Mesquite Lutheran Church, 450 Turtleback Road. She
accomplished her goal as loving wife and mother. She will be missed.

Williams, Thelma Jane
Thelma Jane Williams 1924 ~ 2005 Thelma Jane Williams passed away March 18,
2005 in South Jordan, Utah. Born October 22, 1924 to Earl Edwin and Ida Mae
Alvord. Married Thomas Evan Williams, September 20, 1947, later solemnized in
the Salt Lake Temple. Thelma was active in church and neighborhood activities
and retired from the Kearns Tribune. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister,
grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She touched many lives in an
everlasting way. She was a beautiful, strong, courageous, thoughtful and
giving person; thinking not of herself but others. She was loved and cherished
by many and will be missed by many more! Gone are the days of struggle as she
was welcomed home by those who have preceded her in death. What a glorious
day! Survived by son, Lee (Phyllis) Vincent and daughter, Patricia Smart
(Mike) Rogers; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; sister,
Florence Oxborrow and brothers, Lloyd, Mearl and Norman Alvord. Preceded in
death by her husband; daughter, Vonda Jane Herbert; brothers, Kenneth and Dean
Alvord. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2005 at 12 noon in
the Riverview Ward, 1325 West 5550 South. Friends may call Wednesday evening
from 6 to 8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy and
Thursday one hour prior to services at the ward. Interment, Larkin Sunset

Wilsted, Harold George
Harold George Wilsted 1943 ~ 2005 Harold George (Hank) Wilsted, age 61, passed
away March 18, 2005 in Salt Lake from heart failure. Hank was born March 19,
1943 in Salt Lake to Harold Dean and Emma Gertrude Neal Wilsted. He married
Gayle Millburn August 11, 1975 in the Salt Lake Temple. Hank served an LDS
mission in Denmark. He graduated from BYU in Experimental Biology. He
completed class work toward a Masters Degree in Oceanography from the
University of Hawaii, and received the MBA and Juris Doctor degrees from BYU.
Hank served active duty in the Army as a military intelligence officer. He
volunteered for combat service in Viet Nam, where he was an intelligence
surveillance officer in a Mohawk spotter plane. He also served as a
Presidential Courier, and as Reserve Attach  to Norway and Denmark. His last
assignment was Commander of the Army Reserve Linguist Intelligence Group. He
retired as a full Colonel in 2003. He is survived by his wife, Gayle, four
sons, Jae, Bill, Todd, and Mark; and two daughters, Jennie (Norm) Stilley, and
Heidi; and by his mother; five grandchildren; and six brothers and sisters.
Hank was a faithful member of the LDS Church and was serving as a temple
worker at the time of death. Hank's funeral will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March
22, 2005, at the Granite 10th Ward, 2180 E. Mead-ow Lark Way (9020 So.), where
a viewing will be held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial
