Born October 30, 1936 in Kula, Maui, Hawaii. She attended Waiokoa Elementary, Maui High class of '55, and the Church College of Hawaii. She was employed at the Laie Hawaii Temple as a clerk, BYU-Hawaii food service department, and Air-Carrier Services of Salt Lake City, Utah before retiring in 1989. Mabel is survived by her husband, William AhQuin Sr.; daughter, Maiden (Skip) Craignan; eight sons, Lancelot (Darena), Rhine, Dancel (Pat), Job, William Jr. (Liana), Enoch (Carol), Jared, and Hagoth (Tara). She will at last rest peacefully. She was born in Salt Lake City on November 21, 1921 to Frank and Anna Wilson. During her lifetime, Doris was devoted to many things - most notably, animal rights and the care of her own beloved felines. She was also deeply religious, having embraced the Catholic faith later in life. She had attended the Julliard School of Music in New York City, and opera was a lifelong passion of hers. After her return from New York, she married Kenneth Andrews, who preceded her in death in 1961. Additionally, she is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dick Wilson; and daughter, Janet Andrews. She is survived by daughter Margo Andrews, as well as nephews Brent and Mark Wilson and their families. Margo would like to extend her deep gratitude to Dr. Frederic Gottlieb, Dr. Stephen Fehlauer, Hearts for Hospice, and the exceptional staff of Silverado Senior Living, most especially Doris' beloved Patrick. Christopherson, 94, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Roland was born December 26, 1910 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the son of Martin Einor and Naomi Dagmar Mariger Christopherson. Roland married Daphne Smith of Salt Lake City on August 3, 1935 in Washington, DC and they were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple December 1935 by Heber J. Grant. He attended East High School and graduated from the University of Utah in 1934 where he was president of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, played varsity football, ran track and was a member of Skull and Bones, Owl and Key Honorary Societies. He went to Washington, DC in 1934, took advanced accounting courses at Ben Franklin University and worked for the US Treasury Department. Roland and Daphne returned to Salt Lake City in 1939 and he worked for the Salt Lake Transportation Company. He was called to active duty in 1940 and served as an officer in the Army during World War II at different military bases in California. They returned to Salt Lake City following the war and Roland became Secretary Treasurer and Financial Manager of the Salt Lake Transportation Company which provided taxis, ambulance service, Gray Line sight seeing and Avis rental car services for the intermountain west. He sold his interest in the company in 1969 and became Vice President of Marketing for Valley Bank and Trust. Rolie and Daphne traveled extensively and enjoyed their friends in many social clubs. Rolie was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend to many. He loved collegiate sports and was honored by the University of Utah Crimson Club as a Super Fan on his 90th birthday. He served faithfully in many auxiliary organizations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints including Stake Young Men's President. He also served as a guide on Temple Square for 20 years. Roland was an active leader in the Lions Club serving as Local President and as District Governor Roland was preceded in death by his loving wife Daphne, his brother Einor Hugo Christopherson, his sister Roma Christopherson Sabine. He is survived by his brother Lamar Sheldon Christopherson and four daughters; Carol (Kenneth) Smith, Annette (Jack) Tanner, Janice (Thomas) Murdock of Salt Lake City, Utah and Joyce (Rich) Wilson of Napa, California and 13 grandchildren and 29 great-grand-children. Damron, Mary Jane Wells Mary Jane Wells Damron 1925 ~ 2005 Mary Jane Wells Damron, dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend died Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at LDS Hospital with loving family at her side. Mary was born November 15, 1925 to Howard Burton Sr. and Stella Estleen Wardrep Wells in Newport, Tennessee. On June 3, 1946, she married Grant Leroy Damron in Easley, South Carolina. Later, Mary and Grant moved to Magna, Utah, where they raised their five children and resided throughout their lives. Mary served as a president-treasurer at Utah Central Credit Union, and retired after 25 years of service. Afterwards, she and her husband spent many wonderful winters with dear friends in Lake Havasu, AZ and Mesquite, NV. Mary enjoyed traveling, card games, chocolate, nickel slot machines, jig-saw puzzles, bingo, sewing, fishing, golf outings, music, dancing, and laughter. But above all else, Mary enjoyed doing things for and spending time with her family whom she loved with all her heart. She was truly an incredible person who made this world a much better place to live each and every day. Not a day will go by that she won't be dearly missed. Day 9/18/25 ~ 4/30/05 Beth Williams Day, 79, passed away Apr. 30, 2005 in Delta, UT. Born Sept. 18, 1925 in Naples, UT to John Elias and Mary Ann Lords Williams. Beth grew up in Provo. Married Leo DeMar Day on Aug. 20, 1946 in Provo. Marriage later solemnized in Manti Temple. Moved to Oasis in 1946 with Leo. Together they raised three daughters and ran a grocery store. He died Jan. 29, 1968. After Leo died she enjoyed several occupations. Happiest when she had projects to do, spent time with her family, and was able to observe the world around her. Beth loved the Gospel and had great faith. We are blessed to have her as our mother. She was born May 27, 1913 in Bennett County, South Dakota. When nine months old her parents, James and Nora Amiotte Butcher, established a cattle ranch on Bitter Creek in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming. She graduated from Campbell County High School in Gillette, Wyoming and the University of Wyoming in vocational home economics. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority and participated in student activities. She taught at rural schools in Sheridan County, Wyoming, and home economics on several occasions including one year at the University of the Philippines. She was a specialist in handloom weaving. On June 20, 1936 she married Paul Calvin Fawley in Sheridan, Wyoming. They lived in Powell and Laramie, Wyoming, Bloomington, Indiana, the Philippines, Salt Lake City, and Eugene, Oregon. Survivors include her two daughters, Ann Kimble of Seeley Lake, Montana, and Colleen Fawley of Berkeley, California; and two grandsons and one great-grandson also of Montana. She was a active member of the First Presbyterian Church, PEO, Lynd's Chapter of Order of Eastern Star and the University of Utah Women's Association. She was a charter member of the Mary Meigs Atwater Weaver's Guild. Memorial services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 12 C Street, Salt Lake City on May 4th at 1:00 p.m. This will be followed by private burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Johnson 2/19/20 ~ 4/29/05 Mable left the earth on April 29, 2005 to start a new life with those she loved who have gone before her. Born February 19, 1920 to Charles Thomas and Sophia P. Allgier Ashley, five sisters and two brothers. Raised in Salt Lake City, Utah where she graduated from South High School. Mable married Fred C. Johnson Sr. on July 16, 1935 and to them were born 13 children. She was a dedicated mother to be loved and admired as well as a grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Along with her domestic career, she was employed outside the home throughout the years. Retired in 1978 with her husband and moved back to Utah. She was a member of the LDS church. Kenyon, Maria Guadalupe Maria Guadalupe Kenyon 1941 ~ 2005 Maria Guadalupe Kenyon was born on Jan 14, 1941 in Monterrey Mexico to Lauro and Leonarda Sanchez. She passed away on April 29, 2005 after a sudden but brave fight with cancer. She was married and sealed to her husband Douglas P. Kenyon and family on November 7, 1998 at the West Jordan temple. Our wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, daughter, but most of all great friend will be remembered as an exceptional woman, always striving for the benefit of those around her and causing an impact in the lives of those she came in contact with. She is survived by husband Doug P. Koncurat, Germaine Marie Francoise Ista Germaine Marie Francoise Ista Koncurat 1913 ~ 2005 Germaine I. Koncurat, age 92, passed away Thursday April 28, 2005 at the Wentworth at Draper where she had been living for the past four months. The cause of death was an aneurism. She was born March 21, 1913 in Seraing, Belgium to Leopold Jean Joseph Ista and Francoise Josephine Rulkin. She was the oldest of three children (two girls and one boy.) In February, 1924, she, her brother and mother were baptized in the River Meuse. She lived both in Belgium and in France. She married Marko (Marc) Koncurat on August 21, 1937. Together they struggled during World War II when bomb scares and air raids were all too common. Food was rationed and milk for babies was scarce. They survived the bombing of their home and many other hardships. Germaine had many church callings, which included Primary presidency in both the branch and district. She was a real leader and a great example to many children. She even conducted neighborhood "primary" meetings, which were attended by many. She had a natural talent for poetry. She has written many French poems which she published in her book of remembrance. She was an avid genealogist and has done extensive research including name extraction. She also served as a Cub Scout den mother. It had always been her dream to come to America and be sealed to her husband and to their four children in the temple of God. They also wanted to raise their children in an LDS environment. In May of 1953 after trying for about five years, they were finally able to obtain visas and come to America. They had sold most of their belongings and made the trip, which took about three weeks and included 14 days to cross the Atlantic and a 2,200-mile drive in a 1937 Pontiac with a former missionary couple. On March 4, 1954, her dream was finally realized. Germaine has lived both in Draper and in Sandy. She has been an inspiration to many as she has borne a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and of the restoration of the Gospel in the latter days. She is survived by her sister, Josette (Jean) Pirlot, Belgium; a daughter, Emmanuella (Dennis) Overstreet, Draper, UT; Pierre (Sharon) Koncurat, Devon, PA; Joseph Koncurat, Kearns, UT; and Jacques (Monique) Koncurat, Sandy, UT; as well as 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and two, soon to be born, great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Marc, her brother Armand Ista and a great-grandson Marcus Koncurat. Martin 1955 ~ 2005 Our beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, Annette, passed away April 29, 2005 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with a devastating illness. She was born August 12, 1955 to Thomas Keith and Thurza Vance Christensen in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married her high school sweetheart, William G. Martin, on August 30, 1974 in Salt Lake City. Marriage later solemnized in the Manti Temple. Netty was a faithful member of the LDS Church serving in the Primary, Relief Society, and Scouting program (earning her Wood Badge). She provided loving child care for many families over 15 years. Her interests included Grizzlies hockey, needlework, movies, music, and attending the temple. Survived by husband; children, Keith, Stephanie, and Michael; brothers and sister, David (Violeta), Bruce (Carolyn), Jill (Bob) Stewart, Tom (Cindy); brother-in-law Sam (Carol) Loftin; and numerous nieces and nephews. May 1922 ~ 2005 "Always a Lady" Our dear sweet mom, grandma and friend, Mary E. May, passed into the loving arms of our Lord Savior Jesus Christ, on April 26, 2005. Born Feb. 15, 1922 in Oakland, CA to Nickolas Anastasopoulas and Mabel Hazell. Graduated from UC Berkley as a Registered Nurse with a degree in Science. While obtaining her degree, mom met dad- a young Marine ready to be shipped off to defend our Country. For three years mom faithfully wrote to dad and on Oct. 22, 1945 they married at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. As an extremely devoted wife, mom played a very important role in the success of the family business of May Foundry and Machine Co. "Standing by her man" through many adventures of flying, sailing, traveling, camping and building, many memories and stories were created. Some of moms many involvements include: Mispah Chapter 5, O.E.S., Assistance League- where she was very instrumental in self-breast exam awareness, "Golden Girl" of P.E.O. Chapter R and Charter member of the dance club Hi-Steppers. Dad's been waiting since March 13, 2005 for a dance with his partner - dance on mom and dad - you're "Unforgettable". Mom, you've been a wonderful person, friend and mom - I love you, you're the best! Thanks to all who have loved and helped my mom and family, especially over the last nine months. Ortega "Bino" Balbino "Bino" Augustinino Ortega, 65, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away April 29, 2005. He was born January 21, 1940 in LaMadera, New Mexico to Albino and Guadalupe Ortega. He married Helga Marzluff in Basel, Switerland on April 7, 1964. Family was always the number one priority, extreme love for all his children and grandchildren and Cinsey (Man's Best Friend), plus his best friend and wife, Helga. They taught all the children the love of dance and laughter. Hunting with the family was a great enjoyment, being a Master Marksman was a plus for all of us. He was the Head of the Moon Lake Bear Club, building, creating and designing new ways for camping. Bino had a strong faith in God and he was a member of Hermano De La Cofradia De Nuestro Padre Jesus. Bino's love for auto racing was only exceeded by his love for God and his family. He was well known anywhere the #42 Car ran, from California to Idaho, Colorado and Utah. He was a long time member of the Salt Lake Valley Racing Association, highly respected for his knowledge and efforts. He enjoyed Family Bonding Moments with the whole family, brothers, sisters, and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We will miss the stories he has to share with all of us. Bino stood strong on his convictions and beliefs in the Democratic Party. Bino served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. Rukavina Jr., Nick Nick Rukavina, Jr. 1928 ~ 2005 SPRING GLEN- Nick Rukavina, Jr., age 76, passed away on May 1, 2005 at Castleview Hospital in Price, from the effects of Parkinson's disease. He was born June 26, 1928 in Spring Canyon, Utah to Nick and Mary Yengich Rukavina. Nick graduated from Carbon High School in May of 1946. He enlisted in the US Navy on March 26, 1946, where he was honorably discharged on January 27, 1948. He served aboard the USS Prairie and was stationed in Shanghai, China, US Naval Port facilities as a Seaman 1st Class. Nick was employed in various coal mines in Carbon County for over forty years. He started to work in the mines at the age of 16 beginning at the Independent Coal & Coke Company in Kenilworth, Utah, as a boney picker on the tipple. Through the years he became Section Foreman, Mine Foreman, and General Mine Foreman for Carbon Fuel Braztah Mine in Helper, Utah, from 1971 to 1977. He retired from the Valley Camp Coal Mine in Scofield on January 12, 1990. Nick was highly regarded in the coal mining industry for his integrity, hard working ethics, fairness, his ability to get along, his vast knowledge of coal mining procedures and his attention to the safety of those who worked under his supervision. He was also known for his incredible strength. He was innovative, creative and could literally repair any equipment to get it back in working order whether in the mine or at home. He was a very kind, considerate, compassionate and generous person to his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews and would often place their needs before his own. He was a true friend to all of his friends and neighbors. In his younger days he liked to hunt and fish, enjoyed football and one of his favorite pastimes was going to Wendover. Member of the United Mine Workers of America, Price Elk's Lodge and the Slovenian Home. Survived by two sisters, Kathryn "Kay" Rukavina , and Josie Blanc, of Spring Glen; brothers, Mike Rukavina, Spring Glen; Joe (La Dona) Rukavina, Price; many nieces and nephews and a special friend, Adeline Fowler. Saville, Paul William Paul William Saville 1920 ~ 2005 Son of Percy William and Sigrid Marie Erickson Saville was born December 25, 1920 in Salt Lake City, UT and passed away April 29, 2005 at the age of 84. Paul was the youngest of six children. He attended East High School and the University of Utah, where he was affiliated with Kappa Sigma Fraternity and graduated in accounting. Paul proudly served on the USS Hornet in the South Pacific during World War II. He married Beverly Jane Thomas in 1943 and enjoyed her companionship until her death in 1997. Paul worked as an accountant for major trucking firms in Salt Lake City and in the San Francisco Bay Area. Paul served many callings in the LDS Church including bishop and bishop's counselor in the San Francisco Bay Ward; ward financial clerk, elder's quorum presidency, and Sunday School presidency in Monument Park 17th Ward. He and Beverly served missions together in the Salt Lake Liberty Stake and in the Name Extraction Program for the Genealogy Department of the Church. He loved yard work and while living in a 3rd floor apartment in San Francisco for 14 years and missing his yard, grew Bonsai trees on the fire escape, much to the chagrin of the Fire Department. He enjoyed being Mr. Fix-It around the house and utilizing his carpentry skills. He will be missed for his sense of humor and dedication to every task he tackled. She spent many hours giving compassionate service to her family, friends and neighbors. She loved to travel with her eternal companion, Michael. They shared many memorable trips and cruises together throughout the world. In addition to her husband and church, her life was centered around her family. Her sweet and giving spirit will forever be remembered. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many church positions. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She worked for the Federal Government and retired in 1981. She was preceded in death earlier this month by her husband. He was born on March 25, 1907, in Erfurt, Germany, to Berthold Stoll and Friedericke Verges Stoll. He married Cecilia Sandmann (later divorced), later he married, Margarett Timm Zerull whom preceded him in death. Curt was an active member of the LDS church where he served a mission in Germany before moving to the United States. He loved doing temple work, attending every day for the last 14 years. Curt enjoyed classical music, reading, mountains, swimming in the ocean, bowling, baseball games, and traveling. He is survived by his daughter, Mildred Miriam Stoll Herbest (Frank) of North Carolina; four stepchildren, Glen (Danielle) Zerull of Mexico; Ruth (Dr. Farrell) Kirk of Morgan, Utah; Roy (Joanne) Zerull of West Valley City, Utah; and Leone (Jerry) Hambleton of Bountiful, Utah. Taylor, Wendell Earl Wendell Earl Taylor, DDS 1924 ~ 2005 Wendell Earl Taylor passed away peacefully at home on April 29, 2005, surrounded by his family. He was born October 21, 1924 to Golden and Evelyn Madsen Taylor in Payson, Utah. In 1949 he married his lifelong sweetheart, Joyce Beverly Johnson, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and together raised six children. Upon turning eighteen, Wendell enlisted in the military service as a Naval aviator. Flying the F4 Corsair as a First Lieutenant in the Marine Corps, he survived a plane crash in China on April 1, 1946. Despite this scare, flying remained a passion throughout his life. He built two airplanes and loved the excitement of acrobatic maneuvers and the thrill of moving freely through the air. Wendell graduated from BYU and later from dental school at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco where he and Joyce made many lifelong friends. He practiced dentistry in Salt Lake City for over 40 years. He was active in the Salt Lake Dental Society where he served as President and was on the state Board of Dental Examiners. Wendell loved to explore, and upon settling in Utah bought the first of many Jeeps, making countless journeys into the wide-open spaces of Utah and the West with his family and friends. Glen Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, The San Rafael Swell, and Robbers Roost were only a few of the places he frequented long before they became popular. He taught his kids to enjoy water-sports, camping, horseback riding, Dutch oven cooking, skiing, and the pleasure of many outdoor activities. His love of life and adventure earned him many strong and loyal friends. Wendell is survived by Joyce, his wife of 55 years, his children; Jim and Mary Jane Taylor, Tom Taylor, Pete and Rachel Taylor, John and Connie Taylor, John and Jane Merrill, Kent and Shelly Christensen, nineteen grandchildren and one great-grand-child born this week (all of Salt Lake City); and his dear sister Vivian Creer of Las Vegas, Nevada; and brother Noel of Provo. Wendell was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Wendy, his parents and two brothers: Sherm, and Grant (Ross). Thanks to the many wonderful people that were lasting friends throughout his life. Mom served an LDS mission in Texas. It was there that mom met her eternal companion, Robert Van Wagoner, whom she married on August 11, 1947 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. During her life mom held several church positions. Mother devoted her life to her family, being a wife, mother and homemaker. Spending time with her grandchildren, working in her rose garden and canning brought mom great pleasure. Glen Williams 7/31/23 ~ 4/30/05 R. Glen Williams, age 81, passed away Saturday April 30, 2005, of pneumonia and Alzheimer's disease in Bountiful, UT. He was born July 31, 1923 in Salt Lake City, UT to Gerald and Ruth Williams. He was the youngest of three children. On June 29, 1946, he married Mary Tucker. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. After 57 years together, Mary preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother Quentin and sister Merle. Glen served in World War II where he was stationed in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. Following the war, he went to work at the Deseret News Press. He retired in 1988 after 43 years. He loved the outdoors and was a master bow hunter. Twice he had the opportunity to hunt big game in Alaska. He was a lifetime member of Pope and Young, a club for archers which allowed only 100 members worldwide at the time. Glen spent his life taking care of others, especially his family. He was kind, generous, and always there to lend a helping hand. He is survived by his daughters: Kay and Sally; five grandchildren: Misty, Rob, Stephanie (Tim), Ryan (Caya), and Aaron (Amberlie); and five great-grandchildren: Taylor, Nic, Michael, Zac, and Tava.
