And how she warmed up to life! She lived with a passion for beauty and a remarkable capacity for unconditional love. She survived rheumatic fever, a sensitive nature, and raids by the FBI, and, like Thoreau, spent a night in jail for her convictions. She walked in grace, celebrating life and seeing always the best in others, including her parents, Reginald Patrick Finlayson and Ettie Josephine Hanson, her sisters Birdie (Covington) and Carol (Lloyd Sullivan) and Melba (her twin and her sister-wife) and her brother (David Reginald). The love of her life was her husband, Dr. Rulon C. Allred, who shared her delight in people and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She lavished her children, David Laddie (Terry), Joseph Laurie (Julie), Jared Rulon (Joanne), Dorothy Jeanne Solomon (Bruce), Gary Stephen (Bonnie), Robbie Marcus (Kayleen), with love and respect, bestowing a legacy of personal freedom. She showered each of her 25 grandchildren with individual appreciation. Her 13 great- grandchildren know that in Grandma Mabel's kingdom, even "little people" matter, perhaps most of all. Her romantic spirit, expressed through her piano playing at weddings, church services, musical productions, and radio recordings, lives on in her many students, in our hearts, and in paradise where she walks now with loved ones who passed on before her. She was truly an elect lady, who continued to grow throughout her life. After 65 years as the pianist of the Allred polygamous group, she re-embraced her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and visited the LDS temple soon after her 84th birthday. She passed away peacefully on May 6, 2005 at 6:30 a.m., due to complications following surgery. Though she will be missed, her love will abide. We will celebrate her life and comfort one another at a viewing on Tuesday, May 10, 2005, from 7 to 9 p.m. Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, and on Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at a brief viewing (9:00-9:45 a.m.) followed by the funeral at 10:00 a.m. at the Millcreek Eighth Ward, 4600 South 600 East. Gines, Myrle Norton Myrle Norton Gines 1916 ~ 2005 Myrle Norton Gines passed away May 6, 2005, following an extended illness, she was 89 yrs old. She was born in Circleville, Utah on March 4, 1916, her parents were Robert Willian Norton and Tryesha Orilla Myers Norton, she was the seventh child of a family of 12 children. She married the love of her life, Ned L. Gines, June 1, 1935 in Coalville, Utah. They were sealed for time and eternity on June 5, 1941, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the parents of four children. Ned passed away September 15, 1992. Myrle spent her childhood in Panguitch, Utah. When she was sixteen years old she moved to Provo, Utah, to live with an aunt and uncle. It was there she finished high school and met her husband-to-be. During their married life they lived in Provo, Roosevelt, and Ioka; until 1958 when they moved to Logan, Utah to a house at 1374 Maple Dr. where she lived until two and 1/2 years ago when she moved to Pioneer Valley Lodge Retirement Center. She was always an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held positions in the MIA, Sunday School and Primary. She loved the members of the Logan 20th ward. While Myrle lived in the Uintah Basin she started working at Ashton Brothers grocery store, then she applied for a job with First Security Bank and from December 16, 1955 until she retired 28 years later she was a loyal bank employee. She loved her work at the bank and advanced from teller, eventually becoming an operations officer. She was an active member of several civic clubs including Lady Lions, Literary League, Beaux Arts Club and Business and Professional Women's Club. She is survived bv Will Souza, El Dorado Hills, California; Karen Gines, Rockford, Illinois; and Jerry and Kay Gines, Sandy, Utah. She has 10 grand children and 16 great-grandchildren. She is survived by the following brothers and sisters; Howard and Betty Norton, Louise Thomas, Amy and Norm Mitchell, Jean Patrick and Melba and Ray Gerber. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and the following sister and brothers; Lena Miller, Ray Norton, Marion Norton, Douglas Norton and Don Norton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 11, 2005 at 12:00 noon in the Hillcrest 2nd Ward Chapel, 875 North 1500 East, Logan, Utah. There will be viewing at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center in Logan, Utah, on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the Hillcrest 2nd ward prior to the service on May 11, 2005, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Logan city cemetery. Hansen, husband of the late Loydece Drake Hansen, died May 6, 2005. Bob was born to Julius C. Hansen and Emma Elizabeth Smith Hansen, February 27, 1927. He is survived by his step-daughter, Lyn Drake Larsen, and two step-grandchildren, Zachary J. Cononelos and Alexis Cononelos; also, by three sisters, Emma G. Allgier, Wanda H. Ahlstrom, and Beth H. Burns (Kenneth); his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Michael and Ben Hardin; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Lois Fallentine, two brothers, Dell J. Hansen and Andrew J. Hansen, and by his parents. For more than 38 years, Bob worked in the insurance business. In 1983 he organized R.V. Hansen Associates, Inc., an agency specializing in the insurance needs of educators and school district employees within the forty Utah school districts. (Long-Term Care, Tax-Sheltered Annuities, supplemental medical coverage and life insurance.) Since 1986 his agency has been endorsed by the Utah School Boards Association an endorsement of which he was particularly proud and honored. Bob's favorite books are: "The Discovers", by Daniel Boorstin and "Arts & Ideas", by William Flemming; favorite composers: Beethoven and Wagner; favorite jazz pianists: Teddy Wilson and Andre Previn; favorite author/historian: William Mancester; and favorite men of history: Albert Schweitzer and Winston Churchill. The family wishes to thank Dr. Roger Freedman, Brenda Fish, Dr. Richard Challihan and the staff of 4 North at University Hospital. Hickman, Barton Harry Barton Harry Hickman 1930 ~ 2005 Born in Tooele, UT, March 12, 1930. He was the son of J. Harry and Mae Mortensen Hickman. He graduated from East High School and attended the University of Utah. Bart married his high school sweetheart, Margaret (Swede) Hanks, Dec. 1, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. He worked for Standard Stations before serving in the U.S. Army. He was a Commanding Officer of A Company 1457th Engineers in the Utah National Guard. Bart was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company for 17 years in Sales, owned a Real Estate Brokerage and Insurance Agency in Kemmerer, Wyoming, and Hickman Realty in Salt Lake City. Bart and Swede have five children all raised in Kemmerer, Wyoming. After returning to Salt Lake City, he was in sales for Rocky Mountain Coating for 10 years. He enjoyed and participated in most outdoor sports. He loved creating and caring for his beautiful garden and loved to share it with everyone. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he enjoyed teaching the youth of the Canyon View Ward in Sandy. Bart has many friends and family who have been touched by his generosity, love and affection in so many ways. He was always cheerful, fun and encouraging. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Swede and their five children - John (Esper), Kass Richins (Rulon), Jim, Sue Palmer (David), Andrea Archambault, 20 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He had a very special and fun family throughout. He will truly be missed. "It was a good life with few regrets-time to move on"(He quoted). Huntsman, Lynn Pettit Lynn Pettit Huntsman 1928 ~ 2005 PRICE-Lynn Pettit Huntsman, 76, passed away on May 6, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah He was born June 7, 1928 in Peerless, Utah to John V. and Rhoda Pettit Huntsman. Lynn was a longtime resident of Carbon County and a graduate of Carbon High School in 1946. Served two years in the U.S. Army in Japan, and graduated from the University of Utah in 1953 with a B.S. in Mining Engineering. On March 15, 1952, he married Valynn Christiansen in Las Vegas, Nevada; she died May 29, 1995. Lynn spent his career in the mining industry in Utah, California and Wyoming and had been employed in jobs ranging from boney picker to General Manager. He authored and presented technical papers at various mining convention and seminars. He was a charter member of the Utah Coal Section of AIME and a lifetime member of the BPO Elks # 1550 in Price. Survived by one son and two daughters, Dale Keith (Melissa Holloway), Price; Holly (Jeff Wright), Salt Lake City; Nori (Hunter Finch), West Valley City. Preceded in death by his parents, and brother, John Keith. She was born July 30, 1979 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Vincent Clark and Cindy Marie Broadhead Martinez. Lisha graduated from South Summit High School in 1997. She loved moons, stars, and rainbows. She lived in her pajamas and always had a blanket. When she felt well she loved to travel. She had a special bond with her Gramy and Grampy Broadhead, and her cousins, Jaydi and Cody. Lisha loved all of her family and will be missed by all who knew her. In her short life Lisha faced many problems with her health. But through it all she was one of the happiest, bubbly and giggley people you could ever meet. Lisha taught us all how to have courage and strength when facing personal trials. We give thanks to the many doctors, nurses and staff at Primary Children's Hospital who made Lisha's life possible since her birth. She is survived by her parents, Vincent Clark and Cindy Martinez; grandparents: Richard and Leona Martinez and Larry and Nancy Broadhead; brothers, Derek and Josh; sister, Sheena; and nephew Dominick. Mooi, Peter Peter Mooi 1931 ~ 2005 Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Peter Mooi passed away May 7, 2005 in Magna, Utah. He was born July 28, 1931 in Evergreen Park, IL to Harry and Jeannie Lundgren Mooi. He married Golda Mae Neal May 3, 1972 in Cook County, IL. Peter was very proud of his service in the US Army during the Korean War where he was a Master Sergeant. He worked as a truck driver and owned and operated two different trucking companies. He enjoyed yard work and gardening, and he loved his family. Survived by his wife; children, LuAnn (Robert) Brindl, Pamela Jean, Jeff Mooi, Rick (Diane) Schram, Denna (Will) Rose, Donna Schram, Laurie (Todd) Stewart, and Neal Mooi; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and two brothers, Chuck (Barbara) and Bud (Elsa). Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Herm Mooi; and a grandson, Jeremy Rose. Parkin, Floyd Barber Floyd Barber Parkin 1926 ~ 2005 FRUIT HEIGHTS - Floyd Barber Parkin, 78, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2005 at his home of a heart attack. He was born October 8, 1926 in West Bountiful, Utah to Floyd Winegar and Ruth Barber Parkin. He married Eldora Bone February 11, 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Floyd was raised in Davis County and graduated from Davis High School. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dad was a Merchant Marine during World War II. He had many jobs including fireman, Christmas tree salesman, and meat cutter for Homer's Market. Later he became a Real Estate Broker and owned and operated South Davis Realty. He and his partners built many beautiful homes in Davis County. Dad enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time at Bear Lake and his cabin in the Uintahs with his family and friends. He spent the last two years of his life taking care of his wife during a serious illness with selfless love. He is survived by his wife Eldora Parkin; four daughters, Sharon (DeVere) McKay, Janice (Tim) Brink, Debra (Bob) Renie, and Susan (Joe) Shanklin; two sons, Dave (Cheryl) Parkin and Gary (Kaye) Parkin; 26 grandchildren and 28 great- grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Jean (Lewis) Provstgard, and Colleen (Jack) Hansen. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Wayne F. Parkin, son Floyd Michael Parkin, grandson Todd Renie, and one great-granddaughter Angelika Braegger. Tsujimoto, Satoye Satoye Tsujimoto 1921 ~ 2005 Satoye Tsujimoto, age 83, passed away on May 5, 2005, from complications due to a stroke. Born on September 24, 1921, in Port Blakeley, WA to Kaichi and Matsuno Kojima, she was the eldest of four children raised on Bainbridge Island, WA. After settling in Salt Lake City and completing business college, she married Floyd Tsujimoto on February 2, 1946. For many years, she worked as a bookkeeper. She and Floyd raised four children: Richard (Lynne Marsenich); Karen (William Lee); Janice (Steve Miura); and David (Jennie Tyndall, fianc&WP4-62;e). In addition to her children, Satoye is survived by three siblings: Tatsuyoshi (Esther Yamada) of Seattle, WA; Takiko (Mike Nakamura) of Salt Lake City; and Yuriko, of Renton, WA. She had three grandchildren: Andrew Marsenich Tsujimoto; Carlin Tsujimoto Lee; and Ryan Masato Satcher. Funeral Services will be held on May 14, 2005 at the Japanese Church of Christ in Salt Lake at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held Friday, May 13, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple and at 9:30 a.m. preceding the services. Burial will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
