Anderson, Oscar
Oscar Anderson 1907 ~ 2005 Oscar Anderson, age 97, a caring, loving and gentle
father and husband passed away on, Mother's Day, May 8, 2005 in Salt Lake
City. He celebrated 77 years of marriage to Quma Lavina Larsen who survives
him. At the time of his death, they were believed to be the oldest living
married couple in Utah. He is survived by four children; daughter, Carroll
Benson, Sedona, Arizona; son, Sherman O. Anderson (wife Marlene), Sandy, UT;
daughter, Sally Whiting (husband Pete)Whiting, Billings, Montana; and John B.
Anderson, Salt Lake City, UT. He was also the proud grandfather to 16
grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Oscar was born in Glenwood, Utah, on September 20, 1907, the son of Andrew
Anderson and Caroline Melisa Hansen, deceased. He is survived by a sister,
Shirley Roberts and was preceded in death by brothers, Earl Andrew, Ole La V
on and Valentine Anderson. Oscar lived in Richfield, Utah before until moving
to Salt Lake City. He had many a fond memories of herding sheep for his father
on the Fish Lake Range while living in Glenwood, UT. He was proud of a pioneer
cabin that he carefully numbered and reconstructed in the West Hills to
establish a homestead which still stands today. A self-taught carpenter he
worked on several homes and buildings in the Salt Lake area including the
State Capitol, St. Ann's Orphanage and the University of Utah. He later
designed and built the family home in his spare time. His carpentry was of
such fine quality that he did the finish carpentry on a Trans-Pacific racing
(sailing) yacht. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening but his family
always came first and he will be dearly missed. Although he suffered from
cancer for several years he survived to take care of Quma and when he could no
longer do so he decided to continue his journey. The family wishes to thank
all those at Woodland Park Care Center and Odyssey Hospice who helped Oscar at
this most difficult time. A grave side service will be held on Saturday, May
14th at 11:00 a. m. at the Richfield Cemetery located at 700 N. Main Street,
Richfield, Utah. The family will be assisted by Magleby Mortuary, 50 S. 100

Archuleta, Lazaro T.
Lazaro T. Archuleta 1915 ~ 2005 BOISE, ID-Lazaro T. "Archie" Archuleta, 89, of
Boise, ID, entered eternal life Thurs., May 5, 2005, at a Boise hospital. He
was born Dec. 17, 1915 in San Pablo, CO to Sandalio and Rosarita Archuleta;
was a lifetime member of the Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and
retired from Kennecott Copper after 27 years of loyal service. Lazaro proudly
served in active combat with the U.S. Army during World War II. He loved his
grandchildren, great-grand children, fishing, gardening, and rooting for the
San Franciso 49er's. Archie's life of honesty and integrity will live on as an
example for all who loved him. Lazaro is survived by his wife Elisa of 67
years, and sons and daughters as follows; Jimmy and wife Marge, Salt Lake
City, UT ; Rose Swan, Pam and husband Joe Gutierrez, Twin Falls, ID; William
and wife Martha, Las Cruces, NM; Eppie, Carla Letter, Boise, ID; and 23
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents
and his first born infant son, Adelmo. A funeral mass will be held Friday, May
13, 2005, 10:30 a.m. at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 6300 N. Meridian Rd.,
Meridian, ID. Father Timothy Ritchie will officiate. Committal and military
services will follow at the Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery. Service
arrangements have been entrusted to Bowman Funeral Home, (208) 853-3131.

Assuras, Ange
Ange Assuras 1917 ~ 2005 Ange Assuras, age 88, died on May 9, 2005, in Salt
Lake City, Utah. She was born January 27, 1917 in Granger, Utah, the daughter
of Nick and Despain Paras. Ange graduated from Cyprus High School, married
John Assuras on April 17, 1939, and moved to McGill, Nevada. While living in
McGill, she was known for her baking skills. She returned to Utah in 1949. She
loved meeting people and always tried to help those in need while refusing
help for herself. "My way - right or wrong," was how she would describe
herself. She is survived by her children Wilma (Darrell) Bennett, Reno, NV,
and Jim (Toni) Assuras, McGill, NV; grandchildren Nicole (Steve) Traub and
Shawndee (Mike) Carnell; great-grandchildren Kolby Assuras, Ryan and Dylan
Traub, and Hannah and Molly Carnell; brothers John (Jean) Paras and Gus
(Olive) Paras; sister Christine (Norman) Sprinkel; and numerous nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and brother Chris
Paras. We would like to thank Heritage Eastridge Rehabilitation Center,
especially Kim and Mary, for all their loving care. Funeral services will be
held at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 279 So. 300 W., on Friday, May

Berry, Maxinne Helen
Maxinne Helen Berry 1941 ~ 2005 Maxinne Helen Berry passed away in her sleep
on May 10, 2005 after a long battle with diabetes. She will be greatly missed
by her friends, family and anyone who knew this incredibly loving woman. Born
April 17, 1941 to Irving and Frieda Solomon in Queens New York, she lived a
very full life. She married Irwin Berry on June 18, 1967. They made a home on
Long Island and in 1982 moved to Salt Lake City with their three daughters.
Maxinne was an assistant buyer for Macy's Department Store for 10 years. She
was President of the East Northport Jewish Center's Sisterhood and the
President of National Council of Jewish Women-Utah Chapter. She was an active
volunteer in her community and in her children's schools. Maxinne is survived
by her husband Irwin Berry and their daughters, Gayle Burns, Lori and Debra
Berry. The light of her last days with us on this earth was her grandson, Ian
Burns. She is also survived by her three siblings, Marc Solomon, Charisse
Solomon and Stephanie Hennion and nephews, Jason and Joshua Hennion. We will
always remember her as she was, full of life, love and compassion. The family
expresses deepest thanks to Care Source Hospice Care, Dr. Matthew Hansen and
the Highland Care Center for the compassion given to Maxinne. Funeral services
will be held on Thursday, May 12th at 1:15 p.m. at Evans & Early Mortuary. The

Beus, Glenn Sterling
Glenn Sterling Beus 1965 ~ 2005 PLAIN CITY - Glenn Sterling Beus, 39, passed
away at his home Saturday evening, May 7, 2005 surrounded by his family to
return home to his Heavenly Father. He fought a fierce battle against colon
cancer. He was big, bold and brought so much happiness to those around him
with his grin. We will sorely miss him and his goodness. He was born October
19, 1965 in Ogden, Utah, the son of John and Fay Hadley Beus. He married
Leslie Jean Petersen June 7, 1989 in the Logan LDS Temple. Glenn was a member
of the Poplar LDS Ward. He served an LDS Mission to Denmark Copenhagen. He
also served as a Scoutmaster, Cub master, Stake Young Men's presidency and
Sunday School Teacher. He loved to serve, especially the youth. Glenn was
employed by L-3 Communications in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is survived by his
wife Leslie, children: James Glenn Beus, Seth Petersen Beus and Eli John Beus,
his parents John and Fay Beus and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving
are 10 brothers and sisters Vicki (Ray) Stringham, Laurel (Vernon) Kirk; Brian
(Leslie) Beus, Nancene Purser, Jana (Blake) Wahlen, Paul (Terrie) Beus,
DaNette (Layne) Barnes, Janae (Wayne) Jorgensen, Shawn (Kim) Beus and Sharra
(Matt) Call. Also survived by the following in-laws Kent B. and Nyla N.
Petersen, Kyle (Brad) Patton, David (Jane) Petersen, Erin (Mark) Russell, and
Kelly (Keith) Stanton. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to
the Poplar Ward and the Nampa Ward members for their love and support during
Glenn's illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 14, 2005 at 12

Beverly Watson 1922 ~ 2005 Beverly Mae Brewer-Murray-Watson died May 7, 2005.
Born May 8, 1922 in Salt Lake City. Survived by children; Kent Murray, Mary
Ray, Corey Watson; brothers and sisters, Michael Brewer, Sharren Brewer, Allen
Brewer, JoAnn Schow, Geraldine Mora, Carol Mooney. Preceded in death by
parents, Shelby and Mae Brewer, three brothers and one sister. Graveside
services Friday, May 13, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery,

Buckmiller, Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant Buckmiller 1956 ~ 2005 Following a sudden accident on Sat.,
April 30, 2005, Kenneth Grant Buckmiller completed his valiant mission here on
earth. Ken was born September 30, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Richard
Grant Buckmiller and Christel Doris Noss. He graduated from South High School
and served an LDS Mission in Louisville, KY. Upon returning he fell in love
with Jill Elaine Adamson. They were married August 23, 1978 in the Salt Lake
LDS Temple. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1985 in Physical
Therapy and after working for IHC he started his own clinic, Northern Physical
Therapy Services. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in many callings including his service
as Bishop and on High Council. He was an avid Utah fan and loved cycling, but
his greatest joy was his family. He left a divine legacy and will be deeply
missed by his adored wife of 26 years, Jill Adamson Buckmiller; his children,
Jacob (Regina) Buckmiller, Kristen (Ryan) Healey, and Erik Buckmiller; his
brother, Ron (Lisa) Buckmiller; his sister, Sarah (Peter) Torres; his father,
Robert Sandberg, his grandchildren, Samuel Buckmiller, Brigham Healey, and
Grant Buckmiller, and numerous family members and friends. Funeral services
will be held Saturday, May 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kaysville Haight
Creek Stake Center, 1520 South Foxpointe Drive, Kaysville, Utah. Friends may

Butterfield, Lester William
Lester William Butterfield Loving Husband Dedicated Father Our dear father and
grandfather, Lester (Bill) Butterfield, 91, peacefully passed away May 7,
2005, after a long illness. Lester was born November 26, 1913 to Thomas S. and
Martha Bowlden Butterfield. He married Tola Christensen, March 14, 1935 in the
Salt Lake Temple. Dad was born in Herriman, Utah where he grew up and lived
his entire life. He was a sheep rancher and farmer and he was happiest when he
was working. He always went out of his way to help those in need. In his later
years, dad loved working in his yard where his flowers were second to none.
Dad enjoyed sharing his life stories with his family and friends. Dad lovingly
cared for his sweetheart for several years before her passing in 1990. Dad is
survived by his five children: Marilyn Butterfield; DeLoy (Virginia)
Butterfield; Sharon (Gene) Thompson; Sue (Jim) Hanni, Peggy; (Duane) Park; 22
grandchildren; 41 great-grand-children; one great-great-grandson; brother,
Merrill (Mae); sisters, Mildred Crane, Edith Newman, Hazel Sorenson. He is
preceded in death by his wife; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; three
brothers and three sisters. The family wishes to thank the staffs at Orchard
Cove, Odyssey Hospice and The Wentworth for their loving care. Funeral

Martha "Marty" Virginia Carmichael 1928 ~ 2005 Martha "Marty" Virginia
Carmichael, 76, of Salt Lake City, UT., died May 9, 2005, following an
illness. She was born December 30, 1928 in Blackfoot, Idaho, the daughter of
Angel L. and Ada Lucinda Bingham Katseanes. She had lived most of her life in
Blackfoot until moving to Salt Lake City, UT. 16 years ago. She graduated from
Blackfoot High School and attended cosmetology school in Pocatello. She was a
member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She married Hoagy
Carmichael and they were later divorced. Marty owned and operated a beauty
salon in Blackfoot. She loved playing golf. She is survived by her son Greg
(Terry) Carmichael of Blackfoot; daughter, Nikki (Art) Cracraft of Murray,
UT.; brothers, George (Frankie) Katseanes of Rockford; Ted (Rodenna) Katseanes
of Blackfoot; sister, JoAnn (Douglas) Raymond of Idaho Falls; seven
grandchildren, Rob, Kamile, Ameda, Trent, Travis, Heidi, Harley and three
great-grand-children. She was preceded in death by her parents, and infant
daughter, brothers and sisters, Harry, Tom, Florence, Margarita, and Andrew. A
funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2005 at the Hawker
Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho. The family will meet
with friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment
will be in the Grove City Cemetery.

Chase, Mary Daniels "Edna"
Mary "Edna" Daniels Chase 1915 ~ 2005 Mary Edna Daniels Chase, age 89, passed
away at the home of her daughter Saturday, May 7, 2005 in Salt Lake City,
Utah. She was born October 15, 1915 in Salt Lake City, Utah the daughter of
Archa Uriah and Elizabeth Aleen Roberts Daniels. Edna married her eternal
companion, Harold W. Chase August 14, 1941 in the Logan LDS Temple. Harold
passed away in January 1971. Mom graduated from Granite High School in 1933.
Her family was very important to her never letting her work interfere with the
needs of her family. Mom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. She served 26 years in the Salt Lake Temple as an ordinance
worker and supervisor. Serving in the temple was one of the greatest joys in
her life. Mom graduated from the LDS Institute of Religion at the University
of Utah May 28, 1967. She was so pleased to have been a student there and so
excited for the opportunity she had to further her religious education. This
meant so much to her as she never had the opportunity to attend college. She
had many church callings - chorister, choir director, director of many ward
musical productions, Sunday School teacher, and worked in the Extraction
Program. Mom loved needlepoint projects and to crochet afghans for all
grandchildren and most of her great-grandchildren. She donated many of her
afghans to the Festival of Trees. Mom was a secretary for the Bureau of
Reclamation and retired in October 1977. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed
golfing with her friends and especially with her grandsons. Mom's happiest
times were spent boating, camping and traveling with her husband and family.
Her grandchildren loved to have her come and visit as she always brought
plenty of Kentucky Friend Chicken. The family wishes to extend special thanks
to the staff at Care Source Hospice for their kind and loving care. She is
survived by three children, Sandy (Wendle) Turner, Smithfield, UT, Pam (Kent)
Parkin, Salt Lake City, UT, Harold W. "Skip" (Diane) Chase, Santa Clara, CA;
18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; four nieces; five nephews. Preceded
in death by her husband, Harold; parents; three brothers; two
great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday May 13, 2005, 11
a.m. at the Holladay 3rd Ward, 4568 South Holladay Blvd (2150 East). Friends
may call Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South
2300 East, and Friday morning at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to

Child, Albert D'Orr
Albert D'Orr Child 1914 ~ 2005 Albert D'Orr Child was born on March 10, 1914
to Horace Ezra Child and Eliza Jane Taggart in Frontier, Wyoming. He was the
seventh of eleven children. D'Orr died May 9, 2005 in South Jordan, UT. A
viewing is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on May 13, 2005 at the
Fourth Ward Chapel in Afton, WY. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the Fourth
Ward Chapel. Burial at the Freedom, WY. Cemetery. D'Orr married Elnora Hanson
on May 27, 1931 in the Logan Temple. Elnora passed away on December 6, 1974.
In October of 1976 he married Myrna Hansen. She passed away on March 12, 1999.
D'Orr's life was an example to all that knew him. He represented integrity,
hard work and sacrifice. His life was full of challenges and hardships, all of
which he met with dignity and honor. He left a legacy of wisdom, integrity and
leadership and was loved and respected by all that knew him. D'Orr is survived
by five children: LaRue Wright (Dwayne); Jenny Martin (Fremont); Vein Child
(Annette); Diane English; Claire Lowe, and five step-children: Valerie
Haderlie (Allen); Rick Hansen (Sherri); Dean Hansen (Debbi); Mike Hansen
(Vandi); and Jerry Hansen (Jenni). He is also survived by a combined 63
grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and
three sisters: Leora Rich (Marvin); Shirley Dana (Lafe); and Aileen Belz
(Karl). He was preceded in death by one granddaughter (Brenda Miller) and five
brothers, (Ezra, Earl, Horace, Ralph and Doyle), two sisters (LaRee and
Louise), his parents, stepmother, two stepbrothers and one stepsister. The
family would like to express sincere appreciation to the staff of Legacy House
and Community Nursing Hospice for the kind and loving care provided to D'Orr.

Dowdle, Aaron Charles
Aaron Charles Dowdle 1989 ~ 2005 Aaron Charles Dowdle, age 15, returned to the
presence of his Heavenly Father on May 8, 2005. Aaron was born December 29,
1989 in Salt Lake City. Aaron was a Freshman at Granite High School, he loved
football, skateboarding and was a talented artist. Aaron was a member of the
Kimball Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he
showed a renewed interest in Scouting and was looking forward to attending
Scouting activities. Aaron is survived by his parents, Earl and Vickie Dowdle;
brothers Jason, Brian and Michael; sisters Alissa, Mindie and Carrie all of
South Salt Lake; grandmother Donna Dowdle of West Jordan and grandparents
Charles and Kathy Searle of West Valley; great-grandparents, Max and Dorothy
Searle of Payson; two nephews, four uncles, four aunts and many cousins. Aaron
is preceded in death by his grandmother, Barbara Lucile Muggy and grandfather,
J. Earl Dowdle. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Fri., May 13th at
the South Salt Lake Stake Center, 2280 S. 300 E., with a viewing one hour
prior to services. A viewing will also be held on Thurs. from 6-8 p.m. at
Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Rd. Interment will be at Redwood
Memorial Cemetery, West Jordan. In lieu of flowers the family requests that
donations be made in Aaron's name at any Wells Fargo Branch.

Erickson, Henry S.
Henry S Erickson 1939 ~ 2005 Henry S Erickson, age 65, of Salt Lake City,
Utah, passed away May 8, 2005. He died at his residence after a long and
courageous battle with cancer. He was born Dec 10, 1939 in Murray, Utah. He
was the fifth of 11 children born to Lester K. Erickson and Winona Stokes
Erickson. He graduated from Granite High School. He served in the Army
Reserve. He worked several years at Hygeia Iceland where he directed and
performed in many ice shows. He was an avid ice skater and also taught
ice-skating. He was an artist in many ways, providing landscaping and
decoration advice to many. For the last ten years he was apartment manager at
the Lanai Apartments. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints and served a mission in England. He is survived by brothers
Ken (Barbara), Keith, Marv and Brent (Mary) and sisters, Nonie Ford, Mary
Taylor (Ray), Lynne Riding (Laurence), Margie Thorley (Jim) and Emeline
Hockenbury (Gene). He is also survived by 56 nieces and nephews, 64
grand-nieces and nephews and five great-grand nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by his parents, a brother Glen and niece Toni. Funeral
services will be held Thursday, May 12, 2005 at 12 noon at the Holladay
Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Dr. A viewing will be Wed., May 11, 2005
from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Elysian
Burial Gardens. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Hospice

Erickson, Winona Clara Parker
Winona Clara Parker Erickson 07/23/21 ~ 05/09/05 Our beloved mother and
grandmother, with a heart as big as the world, passed away May 9, 2005. She
was born July 23, 1921 in Payson, UT to William John and Martha Leprial
Merritt Parker. She married her sweetheart, Floyd Edwin Erickson Nov. 15,
1940. Winona worked for many years as a dietician for the VA Hospital. She
loved the boat races, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She touched
everyone's life she came in contact with. Winona also gave unconditionally,
and touched many people with her bright spirit. She also gave them heck when
they deserved it. Very special thanks to Rebecca and Chris for their tender
loving care. Survived by her son, Jerry (Gayle) Erickson; daughter, Judy
Whipple; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grand-children; three great
great-grand-children. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 13, 2005, 11
a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street where friends may call
from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 12th and one hour prior to services Friday.

Blanche Anderson Flint "Called to Serve" Blanche Anderson Flint, age 86, died
on May 9, 2005, in Salt Lake City. She was born on April 21, 1919, in Emery
County, Utah to Boas and Catherine Christianson Anderson. She marred E. Dean
Flint on April 3, 1942. Blanche served her country as a "Rosie the Riveter"
during World War II, and has faithfully served the Lord as a member of The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having been called to many
positions including Relief Society president and Theology Instructor, and
served two missions, to Florida and North Carolina. She is survived by her
son, Edward D. (Diana) Flint, grandchildren Benjamin, Stephanie and David
Flint, great grandson, Cody Fortner; her brother Raymond G. (Sally) Anderson,
sisters, Katherine (Calvert) Ivie, Mary (Scott) Shephard, and Margaret
(Robert) Harker, special daughter-in-law, Jolyn (Dennis) Dickerson, and
hundreds of cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families, and the thousands
whose lives were touched by her Christian compassion. She was preceded in
death by her parents, and siblings Rosetta Dahle, Helen Mason, Ruby Marinelli,
Edward Anderson, and her husband of 43 years, E. Dean Flint, who passed away
20 years ago on the same date, May 9, 1985. Funeral services will be held on
Thurs., May 12, 2005 at the Cannon Fourth Ward Chapel, 1301 S. 1200 W., Salt
Lake City at 12:00 Noon. Viewing prior to services from 10 a.m. to noon at the

Fonger, Richard E.
Richard E. Fonger 1940 ~ 2005 Our beloved husband, dad, brother, grandpa, and
friend, Richard Evans Fonger, returned to his Heavenly Father May 8, 2005
after passing away in his sleep at his home of 36 years in Ruth, Nevada.
Richard was born to Elizabeth Evans and Fred Richard Fonger in Salt Lake City,
Utah December 15, 1940. Upon returning from an LDS mission to the Eastern
Atlantic States Mission and serving with the Utah National Guard he married
Shirley Ann Twitchell in the St. George Temple Sept. 10, 1966. Richard served
the Lord as a husband, father, friend, bishop, high councilman and various
other positions. He also served on the Ruth Town Council, Ruth-McGill GID
Board and as the County Surveyor for White Pine and Lincoln Counties. He
worked as a surveyor for various mining companies and completed a
correspondence course to become licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor,
Mineral Rights and Water Rights Surveyor. Upon being laid off from Kennecott,
he started his own surveying company, Fonger Survey, which he operated until
his death. As a father and surveyor he treasured the time he spent with his
children throughout Nevada, Utah, and California. Richard enjoyed sharing time
in the outdoors with family and friends, especially hunting, fishing, singing,
Dutch oven cooking, four wheeling, and taking "shortcuts." He enjoyed learning
about the people and ghost towns of the old west. Those who knew him will
remember that he was always a joy to be around and his devotion to help
others, unselfishness, and love of the Savior. He was quick to smile and
always had a story. Some of his one liners that will be missed include "Don't
take any wooden nickels," "Hold on to your hat, cowboy!" and "Don't fall down.
. . Fall up!" Richard was preceded in death by his parents and younger
brother, Fred (Hy). He leaves behind his beloved and eternal companion,
Shirley, of Ruth, Nevada; daughter, Debra (John) Bainbridge of Spring Creek,
NV; sons, Marc (Heather) of St. George, Evan (Emily) of Spring Creek, NV, and
Lyndsay (Danette) of Ely, Nevada; sister, Kathleen (Jay) Christopher of West
Valley City; and brothers, Robert (Denise) of Murray, and Floyd of Orem.
Grandpa left behind nine grandsons and five granddaughters. A viewing will be
held Thursday May 12, 2005 at the Ely, Nevada LDS Stake Center, 9:30 a.m.
(PDT) and funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. (PDT). Interment will
follow at the Enterprise City Cemetery at 5:30 p.m. (MDT)

Hamblin, Lee Milne
Lee Milne Hamblin "Grandpa Bear" Lee Milne Hamblin, age 81, passed away early
on Sunday, May 8th, to join his mother on Mother's Day. He was born on
December 22, 1923 in St. George, Utah to Edwin O. and Josephine Milne Hamblin.
He married his high school sweetheart, Margie Ruth Shaw, on September 23, 1944
in the Salt Lake Temple. Lee graduated from Murray High where he excelled in
sports, taking State in pole vaulting and second in State in basketball. He
served others as Senior Class President in 1942. He attended BYU and the U of
U where he played basketball for both schools. His love of sports continued
throughout his career where he was a sporting goods factory representative,
later a co-owner of Trail Sporting Goods, and he finished his career as the
owner of Lee Tool and Machine. He was a superb salesman. He could sell an
Eskimo a block of ice! Lee's testimony reflected his love of the Savior and
service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served
faithfully on the High Council, Stake Seventies President and Bishopric
Counselor. He especially loved the Primary. He was a member of the Murray Sons
of Utah Pioneers. Lee is the beloved father of Dennis (Sylvia) Hamblin, Julie
(Kevin) Thomason, Jeff (Janet) Hamblin and Christine (Neal) Francom. He is the
"Grandpa Bear" to 13 grandchildren and eight and a half great-grand-children,
brother to Viva Riding and Jay Hamblin. He also leaves behind many nieces and
nephews that he adored. Those who welcome him on the other side are his
parents; brothers, David, Duane, Frank; sister, Edna Reynolds; in-laws, Curtis
and Vinnie Shaw; grandson, Drew Hamblin. Funeral services will be held
Thursday, May 12th at 11:00 a.m. at the Park Ward, 435 E. 5600 S., Murray, UT.
Viewings will be held on Wednesday, May 11th from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe
Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, and Thurs., May 12th from 10:00-10:45 a.m.
prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Murray City

Elva Johnson Hansen 1916 ~ 2005 MONROE, UTAH- Our beloved mother, grandmother,
great-grand-mother, sister, aunt and friend, Elva Johnson Hansen, 89, passed
away May 8, 2005, at her home in Monroe. She was born January 7, 1916, in
Monroe, Utah, to Alma M. and Julia Etta Hoopes Johnson. She married Albert
Roland Hansen on June 30, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in
death Nov. 28, 1988. She is survived by a son, Roland (Sue) Hansen, Monroe;
son-in-law, Kirby (Mary Ann) Parker; nine grandchildren; and 25
great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert;
daughter, Bonnie Lou Parker; parents; four brothers; four sisters; and
granddaughter, Monica Lynn Parker. Funeral services will be held Sat., May 14,

Tapuvae Vaiola Leota Jr. 4/4/1939 ~ 5/8/2005 After a long journey of endless
patience, charity, love and humility, Our beloved husband, father and friend
returned to his Heavenly home peacefully on Mother's Day afternoon. He will be
welcomed with open arms by his parents, siblings, and his daughter Ramona. Dad
was born in Samoa to Tapuvae Leota Sr. and Isapela Pili. He graduated from
Kahuku High School in Laie, HI. He moved to California where he met his
sweetheart Siulavai Salanoa, whom he married for time and eternity in the Los
Angeles, CA. LDS Temple. They have six children, 25 grandchildren, and six
great-grandchildren. Our dad was a very hard worker, but due to his illnesses
and ailments he was forced to retire in June of 2002. Dad was a very active
member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in all
capacities including serving as a Bishop in Compton, CA. and again in Kearns,
UT. Dad loved the work of the Lord and continually strived for the building of
the Kingdom of Zion on Earth. Dad was a very loving, humble, and enjoyed life
in a very soft spoken way. He was a man of few words, but his beautiful smile
said it all. He was an extraordinary man and will be greatly missed by "ALL."
His friends, family and especially his loving wife. Survived by his wife of 40
years Siulavai. Children, Jeffrey (Masi), Lillian, (Edward), Tulelei (Nina),
Isabelle (Sui), and LeeAndra Victoria, 25 grandchildren and six
great-grand-children. His stepmother Tulia, one brother, one sister, many
cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends. He is preceded in death by
his parents, siblings, and his daughter. A family service and viewing will be
held on Friday, May 13th 2005 at 6:00 p.m. at the Kearns East Stake Center
(4300 W. 4700 S.) Kearns. Final family service will be Sat., May 14th at 9
a.m. at the Kearns East Stake Center following interment at Memorial Estates

McIlrath, Darrell Glen
Darrell Glen McIlrath 1934 ~ 2005 BOUNTIFUL, UTAH -Darrell Glen McIlrath, 71,
passed away Tuesday May 10, 2005 at his home from complications due to kidney
failure. He passed from this life just as he had always desired, at home with
his eternal bride by his side. Darrell was born February 3rd, 1934 in
Centerville, Utah to William and Vesta McIlrath. He married Gwenda Lu Taylor
on April 10th, 1953, later divorced. They are the proud parents of five
children. He later married Carol Lynn Sipes on December 26th, 1985 in St.
George Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all
eternity. He was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, serving in many callings. He also had the opportunity to serve his
government as a serviceman during the Korean conflict. Dad had many loves of
his life, he loved cars, birds; especially his prized pigeons and dove. He
loved to fish and hunt with his family. Dad loved to tell jokes and pull
pranks on people, he loved to make people laugh. He worked hard for what he
had. Throughout his life he had been employed by Mountain Fuel for 15 years,
Bountiful Dairy, Davis County South Valley Volunteer Fire Dept., Bountiful
Fire Dept. and West Valley Fire Dept. He served over 40 years as a
firefighter, with 10 years as the Fire Chief for both Bountiful and West
Valley. He loved the brotherhood that he had with his fellow firefighters. He
is survived by his wife, Carol McIlrath; brother George and sister Patricia;
five children Kathy (Tom) May, LuAnn (Lynn) Holgreen, Scott (Dorothy)
McIlrath, Brian (Bonnie) McIlrath and Jim (Windy) McIlrath, four stepchildren
Maria Van Adrighem, Jason Van Adrighem, wife Trisha, Derrick Van Adrighem wife
Megan, Kimberly Abney; 26 grandchildren and one great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his parents, brothers Michael and Dan, and grandson James
Matthew McIlrath. The family would like to thank Bonneville Dialysis, Morna
Williams and Brenda from Legacy Hospice for their services in his health care.

Olsen, Beverly Cristine
Beverly Cristine Olsen "Cris" It was a bright and beautiful spring day on
April 18, 1951 in Brigham City, Utah when Beverly Cristine Olsen made her
appearance in this world. She immediately captured the hearts of all who saw
her, especially her mother Beverly Barker Olsen. Her father J. Grant Olsen had
to wait nine months until he returned home from the Korean War before he could
see his first child. Cristine has always had a cheerful and happy disposition
and wanted to please and serve those around her from an early age. She
delighted in playing with her younger brother Alan and her sweet, younger
sister Annette. "Aunt Cris" was a favorite to their children and she received
joy from their joy. She was a loving and caring person who was always
interested in you and what you were doing. Cristine received her schooling in
the Granite School District, graduating from Granger High School in 1969. She
continued her education receiving her bachelor's degree from Utah State
University where she majored in physical education. She was a favorite teacher
to her many students and worked long hours coaching and supporting the teams.
She also gave her time to students enrolled in the district summer camp at
Woodland. She added extras to all they studied. In later years she earned her
master's degree and moved into the counseling department where she continued
to influence the lives of the many young people who came to her. She was in
that position at the time of her very unexpected death. She passed away
quietly in her sleep on Sunday, May 8, 2005. During the summer months,
Cristine would open her spacious swimming pool to the neighborhood children so
they could learn to swim under her expert tutelage. Her home and yard were
always available to group gatherings. She was generous to all with her time
and talents and will be remembered for her generous smile, infectious laughter
and love of cats. Cristine enjoyed traveling and she was able to spend time in
Europe, Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean. Camping with family was also a
favorite. Each summer she and her mother, often with other family members,
enjoyed all the plays at Cedar City's "Shakespeare Under the Stars." Cristine
was a committed member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and
served in many positions. She had a strong testimony of her Savior Jesus
Christ and lived her life accordingly. At the time of her death she was
serving as a counselor in the Stake Relief Society program. She was a devoted
daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend. All who came into her
presence were enriched. She is survived by her mother, Beverly B. Thompson,
her caring stepfather, Peter Thompson, her father J. Grant Olsen, her
stepmother, Dorothy Olsen, brother Alan (Debbie) Olsen, sister Annette
(Darwin) Gillette and many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins plus all
those whose lives she touched. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 13,
2005, 2 p.m. at the LDS Chapel, 3963 South Peachwood Drive (approximately 3500
West). A viewing will be held Thursday, May 12, 2005, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal
Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah 84123 and Friday at the
church,12:30-1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations are welcomed at the
Granite District Credit Union for a scholarship fund to be established in

Peterson, Carol Jeanette Hovik
Carol Jeanette Hovik Peterson 1917 ~ 2005 Born February 2, 1917 to Bernt F.
and Lydia Nielsen Hovik. Graduated from South High School where she met and
later married Grand LaVern Peterson on June 2, 1937 in Salt Lake City. Later
solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She fulfilled a childhood dream, in 1958,
when she won first prize in a National Doll Dressing Contest sponsored by the
March of Dimes. The judges were Eleanor Roosevelt and Helen Hayes. This
launched her into the field of collecting and dressing dolls. Carol met other
doll people and expanded her skills in dressing dolls to include many notable
collections. She and other doll friends formed the Salt Lake Doll Craft Guild.
The area in which she truly excelled was creating miniatures. Her miniatures
were sold in the better shops and her creations were much sought after by
collectors all over the United States. Carol spent many years teaching power
sewing at a local college and writing study courses for State Department of
Industrial Development. She opened her own business which she operated for a
number of years. She later sold this to develop a line of miniature furniture.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Ronald, brother, Leon and
sister, Blanche. Survived by daughter, Dionne (Dee) Williams and son, Kenneth
(Susan) Peterson, sister, Norma Hesse, brother, Byron Hovik, 12 grandchildren
and 28 great-grandchildren. The family extends it's gratitude to Floyd and
Dowena Devey for their unselfish help while she was at home and a special
thanks to the staff and aides at the Alta Ridge Alzheimer Facility for their
tender love and care. Per her request, graveside services will be held at
Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Dr., Salt Lake City, UT at 1 p.m. on
May 13, 2005.

Potter, Alfred (Al)
Alfred (Al) Potter 1931 ~ 2005 Alfred (Al) Potter died April 22, 2005 at the
Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah of complications due to age while
surrounded by his loved ones. Alfred was born May 15, 1931 to Charlie and Kate
Kofford Potter. He was raised in Boneta, Duchesne County. Al served as a U.S.
Marine in the Korean War and was the recipient of the Purple Heart award and
numerous other military decorations. After the war Al began driving
18-wheelers cross-country. He continued in this profession until he retired.
Alfred is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He
married Leona V. Salt in 1956 (divorced). They were the parents of four
children: Katherine Oliai, California; Julia Potter, Salt Lake; Ernest W.,
Salt Lake; and Sharla (Dave) Torgerson, Salt Lake. Alfred has 14 grandchildren
and one great-grandchild. Al later married Jean Binkard (divorced). He spent
the later years of his life with his wife Bonnie (Nita). The couple lived in
Fielding and Vernal, where they loved to fish in the High Unitas. Alfred was
preceded in death by his parents and his wife, as well as his brothers; Carl
and Warnel and his sister Pauline Hadden. Her husband Joseph Hadden and his
children have remained close to Alfred and his family. The family is preparing
a private memorial service.

Rasmussen, Margie
Margie Rasmussen "Gone Dancing With Daddy" FERRON, UT. Margie Rasmussen, 84,
died May 8, 2005, in the Central Valley Medical Center in Nephi, UT, as a
result of natural causes. Born Nov. 8, 1920, in Ferron, Emery County to Deloss
and Addie Thompson Ralphs. Married Neal Rasmussen May 13, 1940, in Castle
Dale, UT. She loved her family dearly. She greatly enjoyed the years she spent
as beautification chairman of Ferron. Special thanks to Heritage Care & Rehab
in Nephi, Emery County Care & Rehab in Ferron and Central Valley Medical
Center in Nephi for their loving and caring treatment of our mother these past
years. Margie is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (Walt) Freeman of Ferron
and Sharon (Tom) Barney of Nephi, 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren,
four great great-grandchildren and brother Lee Ralphs of American Fork.
Preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Varian Ralphs and one great
grandson. Funeral services will be Fri., May 13, 2005, at 12:00 noon at the
Ferron Blue Hills LDS Chapel (old Ferron LDS Chapel). Friends may call on the
family one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the
Ferron Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary. We will love you and
miss you always.

Riggs, JoAnn Williamson
JoAnn Williamson Riggs 1930 ~ 2005 PROVIDENCE, UTAH; JoAnn Williamson Riggs,
74, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2005 at the Logan Regional Hospital after a
courageous 3 1/2 year battle with cancer. She was born on July 10, 1930 in
Paradise, Utah to Vernon and Beth Bickmore Williamson. She graduated from
South Cache High School in 1948. She married Louis Buster Riggs on Feb. 7,
1949 in Las Vegas, NV. She was employed at Fred's Flowers and retired from
J.C. Penney's with 25 years of service. She was a member of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a member of the Ladies Wednesday
Night Bowling League for many years. She is survived by her husband, Louis
"Bus" Riggs of Providence, two daughters, Kathy Riggs of Providence and Cindy
(Jed) Cronquist of Thatcher, Idaho. She is also survived by seven
grandchildren, seven great-grand-children, one brother, Don (Linda) Williamson
of Logan; and two sisters, Ruth (Bob) Sears of Logan; and Gale (Gary) Kendrick
of Nibley. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Terry L. Riggs,
and a brother, Kay Williamson. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on
Friday, May 13, 2005 at the Logan City Cemetery. A visitation will be held at
the Allen-Cranney Mortuary, 420 E. 1800 N., North Logan, on Thursday evening
from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. The family
would like to thank the many family members and friends who supported in her
battle against cancer. A special thank you to Dr. Ali Ben-Jacob and his staff
for their loving care and friendship throughout mom's fight.

Ringle, Luana
Luana Ringle 1924 ~ 2005 LOGAN - (Alta) Luana Harris Ringle passed away in her
home surrounded by her children on May 6, 2005 following a courageous six year
battle with breast cancer. Luana was born in Bingham Canyon, Utah on April 12,
1924, the only daughter of Reynold and Malita Harris. She is survived by her
only brother, Paul Reynold Harris of St. George Utah. Following the death of
her mother when Luana was six years old, she was raised by her aunt in the
mining town of Ray, Arizona. There she graduated high school, worked as a
secretary to the Superintendent of Schools and met her husband, Dan Ringle, a
United States Marine on leave visiting family. They were married July 8, 1943.
Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. The wife of a
soldier, Luana lived in many foreign countries and diverse locations in the
United States, bearing a child in seven different locations in Japan, Germany
and the United States. She was a loyal and conscientious employee of J.C.
Penny for 20 years, where her organizational skills and hard work were
recognized and rewarded. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was
an integral part of Luana's life. Her quiet testimony resonated daily in her
strong example. She served faithfully throughout her life--as the wife of a
Bishop, Young Women's president in California and as Relief Society president
in Okinawa, Japan as well as many other assignments. In 1987 she and Dan
served a proselyting mission in Lubbock, Texas. As the wife of a soldier Luana
proudly served her country. She was a patriot. Her love of country was
apparent each national holiday as patriotic anthems emanated from her home and
the star and stripes waved from her porch. She actively served in the American
Legion, and as an election judge until 2004. Luana is survived by her husband,
Daniel Jerome Ringle and six of her seven children, David (Diane), Burley
Idaho; Debbie (Bruce) Barker, Cedar City, Utah; Lyn (Dewey) Allen, Providence,
Utah Don (Jodi) Louisville, Colorado De (Jordan) Funk, Alturas, California and
Doug (Lisa) Logan, Utah. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Daniel
J. Ringle II (Montana) who died in 1994. Her life was blessed with 28
grandchildren: David, Danny, Rebecca, John, Jim, Jeff, and Scott Ringle,
Angie, Valerie, Richard, Kara Barker, Jennifer, Stacey, Steven, John, and
Michael Allen, Benjamin, Ashley, Lindsey, and Austin Ringle, Kylie, Cory,
Michel, and Kenna Funk, Andrew, Chase, Zachary, and Mason Ringle and 10
great-grand children. Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, May 12th
at the Lundstrom Park 3rd Ward Building located on 1600 E. 1280 N., Logan.
There will be a viewing Wed. May 11th from 6-8 p.m. at the Allen Hall
Mortuary, 34 E. Center Street, Logan, and prior to the services on Thurs. May

Frances Gaylord Thomas ("Fran") 1912 ~ 2005 Frances passed away April 29, 2005
in Salt Lake City. She was born Nov. 6, 1912 to Edward and Emma Gaylord in
Shaker Heights, OH. She married M. Donald Thomas Oct. 27, 1959 in Cleveland,
OH. She is survived by her beloved husband Donald, their three children Marc
Thomas (son) married to Judi Simon, of Chicago, Illinois; their children
Elizabeth and Kaitlyn. Marcia Gladwish (daughter) married to Jon Henry
Gladwish, of Edmonds, Washington, their children Anne, Katherine, Elizabeth
and Virginia, as well as Micah, Frances' great-grandchild; David Thomas (son),
married to Nancy Allf, Las Vegas, NV. Frances, a loving wife, supported her
husband Donald for many years in pursuant of improving public education in
Utah and throughout the country and the world. Frances was the wife of former
Salt Lake City School Superintendent, M. Donald Thomas, a national recognized
educator. After Don retired, he and Frances formed the Gaylord-Thomas
Philanthropic Trust to support and improve public education and legal causes
in which they believed. Frances served as an educational consultant with her
husband for four governors, 10 foreign countries and in nearly every state in
the United States. Her most important assignment was at the invitation of
Mikhail Gorbachev to assist Soviet educators to learn Democratic principles.
Earlier in Frances' life she served as an executive secretary for New York
Life Insurance Company and was a former high school Home Economics teacher for
Shaker Heights High School in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Frances was an active
participant in the National Education Association and with her husband
involved in the American Association of School Administrators, Phi Delta Kappa
and South Carolina Association of School Administrators. Frances contributed
to various Native American organizations throughout her life. She loved cats,
sewing and Ohio State Football. Memorial services will be held at the first
Unitarian Church on Sat., May 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. to Noon. Frances
requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First Unitarian
Church, 569 S. 1300 E., Salt Lake City, or to a charity that supports public

Tingey, Laurel Batty
Laurel Batty Tingey 1949 ~ 2005 Laurel Batty Tingey, 55, of Bluffdale passed
away Sunday, May 8, 2005 after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born June
13, 1949 in Pleasant Grove, Utah to Blaine and Ileen Rasband Batty. She
married Brice Adams and together had two children. They were later divorced.
She married Val Tingey on July 25, 1998 in Lindon. Laurel grew up in Lindon
and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. She is survived by her husband
Val of Bluffdale; children: Abraham (Hillary) Adams, Payson and Belinda
(Jared) Senior, Las Vegas; 15 grandchildren; father, Blaine (JoAnn) Batty,
Wallsburg; two sisters, Norma Harrison, AZ; Janeale (Kelly) Christiansen, AZ;
three brothers, Doyle (Karen) Batty, Orem; Roy (Sandra) Batty, Spanish Fork;
Layne (Peggy) Batty, Payson. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ileen
and brothers, Glade Newell and Garth W. Batty. Funeral services will be held
Thurs. May 11, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 S. 300
E., Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Wed. evening from 6-8 p.m. at the
mortuary and on Thurs. one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the

William Jr., Henry Wright "Bill"
William Henry Wright, Jr., (Bill) "Live Aloha" William Henry Wright, Jr.,
passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife and surrounded by his children
and grandchildren on May 7, 2005, one day after his 75th birthday. Bill was
the oldest of two sons born to William H. Wright, Sr., and Anne Mae Driver
Wright Folkerson. He married Marilyn Foster on Jan. 11, 1951, in the Salt Lake
Temple. Together they raised a loving family of five children: Emily Willis
(Gary); William Gerald Wright (Suann); MaryLane Newman (Kirk); Rhonda Wright
Lindsay; and Jeffrey Alan Wright (Marti). They have 16 grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerald. Bill served his country
honorably in the Army during the Korean conflict. He worked as a photoengraver
at DeBouzek Engraving Company and then the Newspaper Agency Corporation. Bill
loved to travel, take pictures, garden, visit his many friends, sit by the
pool and watch the kids swim and savored family parties. Bill was a model
father, grandfather and loyal friend, always generous and ready to be of
service to family, friends and neighbors. He always had a joke or funny story
to share with everyone. His testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ was the
foundation of Bill's life. He served in many capacities in his ward including
the Boy Scouts, Sunday School teacher, Home Teacher, Elders Quorum Presidency,
High Priest Group Presidency and was Executive Secretary to three bishops.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, May 12, 2005 at the
East Mill Creek 16th Ward, 3408 S. Celeste Way (3120 E.). Friends and family
may visit Wednesday evening, May 11, 2005 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Holbrook
Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E., and from 10:45-11:45 a.m. at the church prior to
services. Interment: Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 E. 7800 S.
