Alexander, Carolyn LaVon Hebdon
Carolyn LaVon Hebdon Alexander 1928 ~ 2005 LAYTON - Carolyn LaVon Hebdon
Alexander passed away in her sleep in the morning hours of Saturday, May 14,
2005 at her home in Layton. She was the oldest daughter of James O. and Daisy
Bauer Hebdon, born in Salt Lake City, December 23, 1928. She married Donald
Ray Alexander in the Salt Lake Temple, May 8, 1950. They are the parents of
three children, David R. (Mary) Alexander, Janet (LaDon) Anderson, and Gary J.
(Jolyn) Alexander. Her family always had top priority in her life. She raised
a family that enjoys being together, and she was always ready to be part of
any family activity. She loved to spoil her grandchildren, and each was sure
that they were her favorite. Hers was a legacy of unselfish service and
kindness, and she was known to always include her family in everything she
did. She was an active member of the Church of The Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, and served faithfully in many callings, including Primary teacher,
Primary president, and a counselor in Relief Society presidencies. She was a
woman of great faith, and taught by quiet example. She valued education,
attended the University of Utah, and served as a PTA president. She was a
Master Gardener, and was most happy when surrounded by nature. She loved all
things beautiful, including music, art, and flowers. She is survived by her
husband; three children; 13 grandchildren, Sheri (Joel) Stephens, Traci (Doug)
Anderson, Judi (Mark) Crook, Kristi (Casey) Mecham, Tammi (Aron) Crosbie,
Nanci Alexander, Vanessa (Jake) Uffens, Michael Anderson (serving in the
Philadelphia Pennsylvania Mission), Joey Anderson, Alex Anderson, Jennifer
Alexander, Darren Alexander, and Sarah Alexander; eight great-grandchildren;
three pending great-grandchildren; a sister, Jeri Roos; two brothers, Douglas
(Yvonne) Hebdon and Kent Hebdon; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Hebdon and JoAnn
Judd; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents;
parents-in-law, Rudger and Ada Alexander; a stillborn son; a brother, Blaine
Hebdon; two sisters, Bonnie White, Marilyn Bingham; and three brothers-in-law,
Keith Roos, James Judd. and David White. Funeral services will be held
Thursday, May 19, 2005, 11 a.m. at the Country Oaks Ward, 2680 E. Cherry Lane,
Layton. Friends and family may call Wednesday, May 18, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. at
Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and Thursday morning from
9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment, Lakeview Cemetery.

Allen, Steven Jay
Steven Jay Allen 1948 ~ 2005 NORTH OGDEN - Steven Jay Allen, 56, passed away
from cancer at his home Saturday, May 14, 2005. He was born October 13, 1948
in Orem, Utah a son of Jay and Jackie Okey Allen. He married Bonnie Conder
November 15, 1976. They were later divorced. Steven married JoAnn Davies
January 14, 1995 in Elko, Nevada. Steven was a tool and die specialist at
Autoliv and then retired. He enjoyed golfing, working in his yard, but mostly
spending time with his family. Surviving is his wife, JoAnn, North Ogden;
three children, Stacy Allen, North Ogden; Stephanie Allen (Shayne)
Schoolcraft, North Ogden; Everett Zane Allen, Eden; three step-sons, Jacob
Anthony Yazzie, Clearfield; Jason Rodney Yazzie, Ogden; Cody LaMar Yazzie,
Ogden; eight grandchildren; his mother and stepfather, Kim and Jackie
Mortensen, Mo-na, Utah; one sister, Pam Allen, Magna; one brother, Jeff (Jody)
Allen, Magna; his mother-in-law, Norma Davies, West Weber. He was preceded in
death by his father, Jay Allen. Graveside services will be held Wed. May 18,
2005, 1 p.m. at the West Weber Cemetery. Friends may call Wed. from 10 a.m.-12
noon at the Lindquist North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd.

Ames, Albert Eugene
Albert Eugene Ames 1918 ~ 2005 Albert Eugene Ames, 87, passed away May 12,
2005 in Salt Lake City. He was born April 9, 1918 in Lego, Bannock County,
Idaho to Hyrum Clark Ames and Hes-ter Saunders. He married Sylvia Mae Allen
(Keitman) March 11, 1964 in Twin Falls, Idaho. Albert was a beloved father and
an excellent friend. All who knew him came to appreciate his sense of humor,
loyalty, and strong sense of community. He had a green thumb and took a lot of
pleasure from tilling the soil and nurturing all things that grow. Albert
served in the U.S. Army and was a member of VFW and DAV. Member of Loyal Order
of Moose #259, Fellowship, Legion of Moose. Secretary of Moose Travel Bowling
League for five years. President of Moose Travel Golfers for 16 years. Drove
truck for Consolidated Freightways for 20 years. Daughters, Dorene Lund and
Kathy Handy; sister, Thelma Walker; broth-er, Hyrum Ames; and one grandchild,
Mark Lund, survive him. His wife, Sylvia Mae Ames, precedes him in death.
Albert's dedication as a husband can serve as an example to us all. His
friends, family, and especially his children will miss him dearly. Funeral
services will be held Thursday, May 19, 2005, 11 a.m. at Evans & Early
Mortuary, 574 East 100 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. Family will receive
friends one hour prior to services. Interment to follow at Larkin Sunset
Gardens, 10600 South 1700 East Sandy, Utah.

Anderson, Boyd M.
Boyd M. Anderson 1920 ~ 2005 COPPERTON - Boyd M. Anderson, 84, our beloved
dad, grandpa, special friend, and brother, passed away May 15, 2005 in a Salt
Lake hospital. He was born June 13, 1920 in Provo, Utah to Marion Lee and
Hazel Agnes Miller Anderson. On March 1, 1946 Boyd married Irene Blundell.
Irene preceded him in death in 1988. "My wife, Irene, presented me with two
great children, Mike and Shawnie. They have blessed me with three
granddaughters, who have added four great-grandsons to my inheritances. All
these lovely people and their spouses have been great citizens and students.
They have made me very proud and happy. They are beautiful people! We have
always been a family and have had great times together. I have a great number
of friends who treat me with kindness and respect. This alone has made me
wealthy, as you don't need a lot of money if you have family and a lot of
friends. For the last several years of my life, Palma has been my special
friend and we have had a lot of good times together and I love her very much.
I have always believed in getting involved in community services. I am proud
of my services: I have been a member of the Bingham Firemen and the Utah State
Firemens Association for 53 years; the Bingham Lions for 35 years; Bingham Boy
Scout, five years; Bingham and West Jordan Little League Baseball, four years;
Copperton Improvement District, 14 years; Bingham Activity Fund, 18 years;
Copperton Emergency Response Team for five years. My wife, Irene, a graduate
from West High and myself, a graduate from Jordan High, started the Bingham
Booster Club in 1971. Irene worked in that club about 10 years. I drove school
bus for 29 years in the Jordan School District and worked for Kennecott Copper
to 35 years." Survivors, children, Shawnie and Jeff Swain, South Jordan,
Michael and Cheryl Anderson, Riverton; grandchildren, Mindy and Jay Knight,
Natalie and Kelsey Smith, Taylor Anderson; great-grandsons, Carson and Zachary
Knight, Kale and Lincoln Smith; special friend, Palma Pearson; sisters and
brother, Ruby Carter, Betty Despain, Robert Anderson, Nonie Shepherd. Boyd
expressed his wish to be cremated. Graveside services for his cremains will be
held Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the Midvale City Cemetery, 7500
South 450 West. A celebration of life with refreshments, will be held Friday,
May 20, 2005 at 7 p.m. in the Copperton Lions Club, 1st East and Hillcrest

Bevan, Anna Lenore Irving
Anna Lenore Irving Bevan 1912 ~ 2005 Anna Lenore Irving Bevan, age 92, our
dear mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away Monday May 16, 2005
of heart failure. She was born Sept 5, 1912 in West Jordan, Utah to Zina McRae
Irving and Duncan Lafayette Irving. She grew up in Granger, Utah and was one
of six children. She attended Granite and West High schools. She married
Burdett Bevan Sept 24, 1938. She and Burdett made their home in Tooele where
she worked hard to beautify the Bevan family home. Ann was an avid gardener
and loved working in her yard with the flowers and vegetables that she shared
with everyone. She was a cooperative weather observer with her husband, and
son, Ned, for the National Weather Service for 46 years. Ann loved to bowl and
was a member of several bowling leagues here in Tooele. In her youth she was
an excellent softball player and played with her sisters on several teams in
Salt Lake City. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and a
member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved life and
traveled many places around the country with her husband and their close
friends, Beth and Fred Fonger. She was preceded in death by her parents;
husband, Burdett; brothers, Irvor Irving, Wayne Irving, Bill Irving; and
sister, Eloise (Jonnie) Zimmerman. She is survived by her sister, Lois Krause,
Salt Lake City; son, Dick Bevan, Salt Lake City; son, Ned B. (Shauna) Bevan of
Tooele; grandchildren, Sharol (Dan) Florence, Salt Lake City, Amanda Bevan,
Ogden, Katie, Stephanie, and Patrick all of Tooele. She is also survived by a
special niece Teddie Krause of Salt Lake City; sister-in-law, Ruby Irving of
Bountiful; brother-in-law, Ross (Donna) Bevan of Salt Lake City; and many
nieces and nephews who loved her. Graveside services will be held Wednesday
May 18, 2005, 11 a.m. at the Tooele City Cemetery. Friends and family may call
at Tate Mortuary Wednesday 9-10:30 a.m. prior to the service.

Bonza, Louis F. (Lou)
Louis (Lou) F. Bonza 1917 ~ 2005 Lou Bonza, our beloved husband, father,
grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away May 13, 2005 at his home
in the Sugar House area of Salt Lake City. He was born in Woodside, Utah, in
1917 to Fred and Ambrosina Bonza. He graduated from Carbon High School in
Price, Utah and went on to the University of Utah. He joined Lockheed Aircraft
Corporation in 1941. That same year he married his first wife, Mary Elizabeth
Beveridge of Price, Utah, and had two sons, Charles and Edward. Lou worked
until retirement at Lockheed in the Skunk Works as a key contributing
mechanical engineer for the high altitude aircraft designs of the U-2 and
SR-71 spy planes used before the age of satellites. He retired to Salt Lake
City near his favorite university, where he lived for the last 33 years.
During this time, neighbors, friends and family appreciated his active work at
fixing anything and everything. Many tried to stump him with a project and he
was pleased that somehow he always figured it out. After his first wife, Mary,
passed away, he was most fortunate to have a great lady named Gwen enter his
life and they have been married for 16 years. Traveling together to France,
South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia, they built a fine set of memories
and adventures. Lou is survived by his wife, Gwen; two sisters, Adele Carlow
of Price, Utah and Josephine Vieta of Salt Lake City; Chuck (wife Dale) and Ed
his two sons; and three granddaughters, Wendy, Tami and Nicole. Always looking
forward, friend to all, and always eager to help are just a few phrases that
characterize what people remember and say about Lou. We celebrate his life and
will miss him dearly. Services will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at 2 p.m.
in the Larkin Sunset Lawn Chapel, 2350 E. 1300 So., where family and friends
may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to services.

Burrup, Hall C.
Hall C Burrup 1945 ~ 2005 Hall C. Burrup, 59, well loved father, son, brother,
uncle, grandfather, and friend "broke on through to the other side" Wednesday,
May 11, 2005. He was born May 12, 1945 in Malad, Idaho to Holt Burrup and Vera
Mae Criddle Burrup. He married Connie Stowe January 7, 1972. The marriage was
later solemnized April 11, 1973 Salt Lake Temple. He was a proud and
interested father to three sons and two daughters. He attended schools in
Downey and Caldwell, Idaho graduating from Brigham Young University with a
bachelor's degree in economics. Member of the LDS Church, serving as bishop's
counselor in Salt Lake Park Stake. Physically active and strong, Hall competed
and completed five Marathon runs and numerous 10K races. He proudly served his
country as a member of the United States Marines Re-serve. A seeker of
knowledge with rare keen intelligence, he avidly pursued understanding and
competence in the areas of Philosophy, Religion, and Social Justice. He loved
sunshine and used every opportunity to spend time outside enjoying God's
handiwork. For many years he made weekly trips to Causey Reservoir to canoe
and cliff jump with his kids. He's worked for many years as a route salesman
for Wonder Bread. He was a member of the Teamster's Union and an active
Democrat. As a father, he enjoyed his children, loving them with his whole
heart and always striving to support them socially and financially. Hall was
blessed with a unique personal perspective, a wide variety of spiritual gifts,
a very tender heart, wisdom and a great sense of humor. He was a fair-minded
person, who would not intentionally harm another soul. He loved his children
more than his life. He honored and revered his mother. His life path led him
down a road fraught with challenge and pain. Friends and family left behind
are grateful that Hall can finally rest and experience the peace he sought for
so long. His survivors include his beloved mother, Vera Evans; brother, Lyle
Burrup; three sisters, Crystal Young, Lois Brown, Karma Merzlock; five
children, Joel (Brenda), Joshua (Ileana), Jaymie (Don) Christensen, Jennifer,
Jesse; and former wife, Connie Wall. As Papa, he will be greatly missed by
grandchildren, Serenity, Benjamin, Baby Josh Burrup, and Skylar Christensen.
Services will be held Wednesday, May 18, at 11 a.m. in the West Jordan River
Fourth Ward chapel, located 1380 W. and 6785 S. There will be family
visitation for an hour prior to the service Wednesday. Interment will be at
the Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 S. Redwood Road, Bluffdale, following the
service.

Crawford, Sandra Gibson
Sandra Gibson Crawford 1941 ~ 2005 Our mother, Sandra Gibson Crawford, 63,
passed away May 15, 2005, of colon cancer. Her life was lived for her children
and grandchildren, so she tried for two 1/2 years to treat the cancer and
fought tenaciously to spend even one more day with them. Many of her family
were at her bedside as she passed away including her three children, JoDean
"Jodi" (Kelly), Kristina, and David (Rachelle). Mom was born August 12, 1941
to Raymon Hunter and Beatrice Tomlinson Gibson. She grew up in Carbon County,
the youngest of four children. Her sister Ardyth Rae (Paul) Turner; and her
two brothers, David Kent (Lila) Gibson and Courtland Tomlinson (Cathy Tanges)
Gibson, survive her. Mom married Lee Raymond Crawford Jr.; but they later
divorced. She faithfully raised her children on her own, sacrificing
everything but her love and devotion to them. The joy and purpose of her life
was her 11 grandchildren, Cassandra, Tiffani, Cameron, Quinn, Zachary, Jordan,
Sierra, Brandon, Gibson, Kaitlin, and Meagan. She loved to spoil them. Many
nieces and nephews whom she loved and greatly cared about also survive her.
Her granddaughter, Meagan, preceded her in death. Mom retired after 40 years
of service at the "phone company." She was always generous, giving and
empathetic, so she easily made many good friends there who continued to check
on her frequently throughout her illness. Mom was a member of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a great testimony of the power of
prayer. Thanks to her home teacher and visiting teacher for loving her with
great charity. Many thanks to all the caregivers who helped in her care these
past years so that she could stay at home. Special thanks to Utah Cancer
Specialists staff, Dr. DiFiore, and especially Rosemary, for their compassion
and support to Mom and also to her family and for letting her maintain her
hope. Mom requested only graveside services. They will be at Heber City
Cemetery, 700 North 600 East, Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at 1 p.m. In lieu of

Creer, Vivienne Taylor
Vivienne T. Creer 1915 ~ 2005 Vivienne Taylor Creer, 89, of Las Vegas, Nevada,
passed away peacefully at home May 12, 2005. She was born August 19, 1915 to
Golden and Evelyn Madsen Taylor in Payson, Utah. In 1937, Vivienne married her
lifelong sweetheart William E. Creer. Mrs. Creer attended Brigham Young
University in Provo, Utah. After her marriage to William, she became an "Air
Force wife" and traveled throughout the world while raising two daughters.
Vivienne lived in such places as Panama, Paris, Madrid, Puerto Rico, and
Washington, D.C. twice. While in Paris, Vivienne attended the Cordon Bleu
School of Cooking. Vivienne was delighted with her life as a military wife.
Parties, Bridge, Mah Jong, and meeting new people were a source of endless
excitement and pleasure. She considered her hobby as "People." Viv was a Red
Cross Volunteer, Grey Lady, and Dental Assistant. She was an avid golfer and
it quickly became her passion. She shot two "Holes-in-one." Mrs. Creer and her
husband moved to Las Vegas in 1969 after Major General Creer retired from the
Air Force. She continued to pursue golf with her many friends and enjoyed cake
decorating and decoupage. Vivienne is survived by her children, Carolyne Creer
of Oakland, CA, Elizabeth Creer Marx of Granite Bay, CA; grandson, Edward Otto
Marx; granddaughter, Deborah Elizabeth Marx; and brother, Noel of Provo.
Vivienne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; and brothers,
Sherm, Ross, and Wendell Taylor. Private services will be held in Spanish

Finley, Howard Noah
Howard Noah Finley 1940 ~ 2005 Our beloved husband, dad, and friend, Howard
Noah Finley, died at home May 14, 2005 after a courageous! battle with cancer.
Howard was born April 3, 1940 in Crossett, Arkansas to Noah Charles and Mary
Octavia Finley. He graduated from Crossett High School. Howard then graduated
with a BS in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas in 1963.
He was a Captain and a Navigator-Bombardier of B-52's for the United States
Air Force dur-ing the Vietnam War era. He received a Master's of Science in
Systems Management from the University of Southern California while serving
fulltime in the Air Force. After the Air Force, Howard worked briefly for
LingTemco-Vought in Grand Prairie, Texas. He worked for 10 years at Republic
National Bank in Dallas then relocated to Sandy, Utah. He worked until
retirement for Northwest Pipeline Corporation (a Williams Company). Howard was
a member of Christ United Methodist Church and served two years as Chairman of
the Board of Trustees. His hobbies included Bible studies, doing miscellaneous
research on the internet, numerous others involving statistical calculations,
and his last joy, model airplanes. Howard is survived by his wife, Carol
Turner Finley; children, Margaret Ellen (Marc) Brundige, Michael Howard
Finley, Alyson Kay Finley; grandchildren, Emily and Nicholas Brundige; special
cousin, Bill (Sandra) Greenwood. Funeral services for Howard will be held
Wednesday May 18, 2005, 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, 2150 South
Foothill Drive. The family would especially like to thank Bob Pearce, Joshua
Nordin, Helen Shiflar, IHC Hospice, and all those who brought joy and comfort

Fivas, Edmund A.
Edmund A. Fivas 1916 ~ 2005 Edmund A. Fivas, age 88, passed away May 14,
following a lengthy illness. He has joined his wife, Gladys, of more than 50
years. He was born October 9, 1916 in Salt Lake City to Peter George and Emma
Clara Widmark Fivas. He married Gladys Fivas January 1, 1939. Edmund retired
from Kennecott Copper Corp. after more than 30 years of service. He is
survived by his sister, Clara Gandy; sons, Edmund L. (Barbara) Fivas and
Ronald E. (Banita) Fivas; daughters, Jewel L. Fivas, Joan S. Smith, and Lynda
Fivas; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and dogs, Star and Sad.
Preceded in death by his wife, Gladys P. Fivas; brothers, George Peter, Romeo
Jerry, John Roland, Raymond Artimus, Minelos Stanley and Conrad Valentine.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 19, 2005 in the Lake Hills Memorial
Mortuary at 2 p.m. with a viewing one hour prior to the service, a night
viewing will be held at the Mortuary Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Edmund's name to the
American Heart Association, Humane Society, or the American Cancer Society.

LaPoint, Justin Elliott
Justin Elliott LaPoint 1973 ~ 2005 Justin LaPoint our beloved father, son,
brother, and friend passed away in his sleep Saturday May 14, 2005. Justin was
born December 4, 1973 in Denver, Colorado to Judith Ann and Thomas John
LaPoint. Justin was a truly great friend and had the ability to find something
special in everyone. He was extremely smart, funny, charismatic, witty, and
caring. Everyone he associated with is better for having him in their life.
His family and friends will miss him very much and will always have a special
place in their hearts for him. He is survived by his two daughters, Isabella
LaPoint (4), Nadja LaPoint (2); parents, Judith Ann LaPoint, and Tom and
Lynette LaPoint; grandparents, Dorothy Murray, Joan Butcher, and Lyle and Lora
Martinsen; five brothers and sisters, Gabe LaPoint (Kelle), Jessica Harris
(Rich), Justin "Jay" LaPoint (Lisa), Star LaPoint, and Karli LaPoint; many
extended family members, friends; and his loyal dog and best friend, Jasmine.
Thank you for the joy you brought into our lives, Justin. Until we meet again,
we will never forget your kindness and smile. We love you and will miss you
very much. May you rest in peace. Funeral services will be held Thursday May
19, 2005, 11 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy

Marshall, Cleo G. "Daisy"
Cleo G. Marshall "Daisy" On October 31, 1922 grandma said, "I was not born, I
came in on a broom." And the world has not been the same since. Along with her
husband, Mel, they traveled the world for the past 35 years. On May 16, 2005
grandma chose to continue her journey in the great beyond. Let's hope they
have music to dance to there. She married Allen K Bodtcher in 1938, who died
in World War II. Subsequently she married Melvin J. Marshall September 27,
1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple
August 13, 1997. Survived by her husband, Mel; sons, Allen, Ronald (Nancy),

James Wilks and Roselda Edwards Hofheins. She has 10 grandchildren, and seven
great-grandchildren (so far). We express gratitude for the hours of service to

Milburn, Richard L.
Richard L. Milburn 1933 ~ 2005 Richard L. Milburn, 72, died after a short
illness, and several years of poor health. Born Feb. 4, 1933 in Tulsa,
Oklahoma. In 1955 he was in the U.S. Naval Pre-Flight school in Pensacola,
Florida training as a pilot. He was an officer on the Beverly Hills Police
force for several years. And then recruited by the Thiokol Job Corp in 1966,
when it was first started, retiring in 1995. He was a man with a heart to
volunteer with the homeless shelters, the abused women and children shelters,
and worked two days a week at the Farmington Bay Youth Center. He would work
for other co-workers so they could have the holidays with their families.
Besides his volunteer work, he cared for several elderly people. When his
health started to fail, it was disturbing to him that he couldn't do what he
wanted. And there was always room in his heart and house for homeless or
abused animals. He is survived by a twin brother, Raymond Milburn of
Pensacola, Florida. A memorial luncheon will be held in his honor with his
friends and coworkers Wednesday, May 18th, 12 noon at the Farmington Bay Youth
Center, next to the Davis County Fairgrounds, 907 W Clark Lane, Farmington.
Richard would appreciate any donations or gifts be given to the Wasatch

Nielsen, Louise Carlisle
Louise Carlisle Nielsen 1908 ~ 2005 Our beloved mother, Louise Carlisle
Nielsen, age 96, passed away May 12, 2005 in Orem, Utah. She was born
September 12, 1908 in Millcreek, Utah the fifth child of Joseph Alma (Talt)
and Mary Elizabeth Carn Carlisle. She married John (Jack) Nielsen November 7,
1930 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt
Lake Temple June 29, 1937. Mother was raised in Millcreek, but left the
shelter of the mountains to marry her sweetheart in Pennsylvania during the
peak of the depression. They lived in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, PA,
Baltimore and Hagerstown, MD, and Alhambra, CA as they moved about the country
with dad's employment with Westinghouse. They returned to Utah in 1950 and
lived for some 46 years on Connor Street in the Garden Heights area of Salt
Lake. In 1996 mom and dad sold the family home and moved to Cove Point
Retirement Center in Provo. They lived there until dad's death November 16,
1997. Mother continued to live at Cove Point until December 2004 when she
moved to Beehive Homes on 800 East in Orem. The family is grateful to the
staff at Cove Point and Beehive Homes, who looked after her over the years.
Mother was an active member of the LDS Church her entire life and faithfully
fulfilled many callings, including ward Relief Society president and served in
the Primary more than 20 years teaching many girls how to crochet. She made
many beautiful handicraft items which she freely shared with family and
friends. She will be fondly remembered for all of the receiving blankets her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren received over the years. Mother is
survived by one son and three daughters, J. Boyd (Candace) Nielsen, Lehi,
Glennae (Don) Fielden, Salt Lake City, Nanette (Merrill) Beckstead, Orem, and
Marva Blalock, Taylorsville. She has 25 grandchildren and 55
great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Richard M. Carlisle,
Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her husband; one grandson,
Jeffrey J. Beckstead; one brother, Raymond; and five sisters, Rhea Breeze,
Almeda Carlisle, Thelma Hill, Alice Todd, and Mary Fuller. At our mother's
request, no funeral services will be held, but family and friends may visit
Thursday afternoon from 2-3 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300
East. Graveside services will be held 3:30 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens

Pearson, John Thomas
John Thomas Pearson "Our Beloved John" John Thomas Pearson, age 24, passed
away May 15, 2005 in American Fork, Utah. Born October 20, 1980 in Salt Lake
City, Utah son of Stuart Lane and Sheryl Lynn Hodges Pearson. He was a
Recreational Therapist and worked for Heritage Care Center in American Fork
and for Berkley Manor in Denver, Colorado. To know him was to love him. He had
a love and compassion for people that was Christ like. He will be greatly
missed. He had a love of knowledge and many diverse interests. Survived by
wife, Samantha Engman Pearson; stepdaughter, PresLeigh; parents; grandparents,
Elva Pearson, and Don and Betty Hodges; brother, Joseph Stuart; sister, Julia
Monique; two cute nephews, Brock and Isaac. Preceded in death by grandfather,
David G. Pearson; brothers, Christopher, Nathan, Joshua, and Jacob. Funeral
services will be held Thursday, 2 p.m. at the Taylorsville Park Ward, 1555

Pena, Genara S.
Genara S. Pena 1931 ~ 2005 Genara passed away May 14, 2005 in Salt Lake City,
Utah. She was born to Jose and Trina Virginia Espinoza Martinez June 5, 1931
in Las Tables, New Mexico. She married Modesto A. Pena September 22, 1948 in
Taoes, New Mexico. He preceded her in death December 9, 2003. Genera was
reared and educated in New Mexico, she later moved to Del Norte, Colorado,
Ogden, Utah, Hooper, Utah, and then finally to Salt Lake City. She worked as a
cook most of her life in many of the local nursing homes in Salt Lake City.
She was a Jehovah Witness. Her Interests were sewing, cooking, reading,
especially her Bible. Genara is survived by her sons, Modesto Pena Jr. and
Joseph Pena both of Salt Lake City; and her daughters, Irene (Ben) Garcia of
Salt Lake, Helen (John L.) Garcia of Salt Lake, Lillian (John) Ruske of
Avondale, Arizona, Lorraine (Don) Uckerman of Phoenix, Arizona, Vicky
(Anthony) Vigil of Salt Lake, Juanita (Jerry) Gallegos of Salt Lake, Judy
(Joe) Gallegos also of Salt Lake. Also, surviving are many, many grandchildren
and great-grandchil-dren whom she loved very much. As well as her brothers,
Daniel Martinez of Ogden, Utah, Augustine Pena of Del Norte, Colorado; her
sisters, Annie Gallegos of Ogden, and Alaida Gallegos also of Del Norte,
Colorado. Preceded in death by one son, Albino "Elvis" Pena; and her husband.
Funeral services will be held at Garner Funeral Home, 1001 11th Avenue,
Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at 7 p.m. Family will greet friends from 5:30-7 p.m.

Hal Hardy Rich 12/27/1921~5/15/2005 Born in Salt Lake City to Ben C. Rich and
Thethe Ina Hardy. Married Shir-ley Evelyn Tourssen. Survived by three
children, Alfred (Maria), Frances (Whitney), Coulson (Valerie); grandchildren;
and great-grandchildren. Hal was an incredibly caring, loving and fun
character.

Richfield, Charles Richard Jensen
Charles Richard Jensen Richfield, Utah Charles Richard Jensen, 81, of
Richfield, Utah passed away May 15, 2005, at his home in Richfield. He was
born July 30, 1923, in Richfield, Utah to Daniel Rasmus and Esther Elizabeth
Swindle Jensen. He married Loretta Lamprecht May 3, 1946 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple Feb. 16, 1955.
Richard fought in the "Battle of the Bulge" in World War II. He was an active
member of the LDS Church and served in the Indian Branch for 12 years. He was
involved in the Richfield City Police Department, State Tax Commission, B.L.M.
and B.I.A. and secretary of the Utah Horse Racing association. He enjoyed
shoeing horses and training thoroughbred horses. He is survived by his wife,
Loretta, Richfield; children, George Danny (Norma) Jensen, American Fork, Pat
(Larry) Rappleye, Salem, Lee Jensen, Monroe, Ann (Dennis) Muir, Grantsville,
Inez (Keith) Toone, Tooele, Torri (Rex) Bagley, Sigurd, and Mark (Diana)
Jensen, Richfield; 40 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; brothers and
sisters, Donna (Glen) Sheffield, Salt Lake, Norris (Elva) Jensen, Monroe, Fred
(Mary) Jensen, Sandy, Ann (Bill) Roberts, Elko, NV. He was preceded in death
by his parents; brothers, Dean, Reed, and Groo; granddaughter, Michelle; and a
special friend, Evan Bown. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 19,

Leith M. Seely 1919 ~ 2005 Leith M. Seely, passed away May 14, 2005 in Salt
Lake City. Born October 9, 1919 in Castledale, Utah the son of Levi Earl and
Willmertha Moore Seely. Married Verna Beth Christensen April 1, 1950 in the
Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death January 26, 2002. Leith was an
active member of the LDS Church, serving in many capacities. He and Verna
served a building mission for the church in Cambridge, England. He was a
veteran for the U.S. Air Force having served honorably during World War II.
Survivors, daughters, Barbara Seely and JoAnn Lopez; grandchildren, Erinn
(Shannon) Sorge, Jason Sorge, Jeffon Seely, Alyse (Denver) Dillon, and Justina
Lopez; great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Mia, and Jaimon Sorge, Genesis Dillon;

Soter, John
John Soter 4/4/14 ~ 5/14/05 John Soter passed away May 14, 2005, at the age of
91, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born April 4, 1914 in Evethrai-thevone
(Krekoukion) Greece to Nick Soter and Estelle Drososs. John came to the United
States in 1931 with his brother, Tom Soter. He worked for the Standard Motor
Company in Price, Utah. In 1942 he was drafted in the United States Army
serving World War II in Germany and France. Honorably discharged from the Army
in 1945, he later married Helen Arkoudas in 1946 in the Greek Orthodox Church
in Salt Lake City. John owned and operated Delmar Lounge for 29 years. Prior
to owning his own business he worked for the Utah State Liquor Commission for
several years. A member of American Legion, International Footprinters
Association, Moose Lodge and was a special Deputy Sheriff in Salt Lake County
under Sheriff Pete Hayward. Preceded in death by his two brothers, George and
Tom; niece, Stell Ure; and wife, Helen Soter. Survived by children, Estelle
Smith, Tina Soter, Nick (Karen) Soter; four grandchildren, Nicole (Dave)
Daman, Parrish (Jenifer) Smith, John and Brittany Soter; and niece, Kathy
(Jerry) Smith, and many other nieces and nephews Funeral service will be 1
p.m. Wed-nesday, May 18, at the Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church, 5335

Stahle, Nora Atkinson
Nora Atkinson Stahle 1916 ~ 2005 BOUNTIFUL - Nora A. Stahle, beloved wife,
mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away May
13, 2005 at the age of 88. She was born September 1, 1916 in West Bountiful,
Utah to Charles William and Elizabeth Garrett Atkinson. She married Keith L.
Stahle November 24, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She attended Davis
County Schools and graduated from Davis High School. Mother had a deep love
for her family and was always there to encourage and comfort each one. Her
many friends were greatly blessed by their association with her. Mother's home
and gardens brought her great joy and comfort, and those who visited were
always warmly received. She loved to read, keep up on current events, and
appreciated good music. Crocheting, knitting, cooking, and playing the piano
were some of the activities she also loved. She created beautiful handiwork
pieces, of which many relatives and friends were the recipients. During the
course of her life, Nora was a devoted and loving caregiver, having attended
to her mother, sister, husband's parents, and especially her husband, Keith,
in the last years of their lives. She was an active member of the LDS Church
in the Bountiful First Ward. Mother had a strong testimony of the gospel and
its truthfulness. She was faithful in her church callings and served
unselfishly for 12 years in her ward and stake Relief Society Presidencies.
Nora is survived by her sister, Barbara (Scott) Rice; daughter, Alice (Craig)
Johnson, and their children, Walt, Wendy, Tracy and Heidi Beth; daughter, Mary
(John) Hepworth, and their children, Kim, Heidi, Christopher, Michael and
Jeffrey; daughter-in-law, Sharon W. Stahle, and her children, Susan, Phillip,
Paul and Allison; and 22 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her
husband, Keith; son, Richard; parents; brother; and three of her sisters. The
family wishes to express their deepest thanks to her devoted and loving
caregivers, Sherry Heap, Connie Smith, and Pam Hull, who attended to mother
during her extended illness related to a stroke. Funeral services will be held

Thorpe, Michael Robert
Michael Robert Thorpe 4/16/1958 ~ 5/14/2005 In loving memory of Michael Robert
Thorpe, born April 16, 1958 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the son of Ronald
and Sherrie Gritton Thorpe. He attended Jordan High School and Dixie College
where he won numerous awards for his theatrical achievements. Mike was an
Elder in the LDS Church. He served as a police officer more than 14 years in
both South Salt Lake and Park City Departments. Over the years he has received
many awards and commendations in the service of the people of Utah. He was
also a member of the Blue Knights. Mike loved the open road and motorcycles
brought him the adventure that was such a necessary part of his life. He
married Janet Palmer in 1981 and they have a daughter, Heather Lissa. They
were later divorced. He married Cecelia Chacon in 1997 and they have a son,
Michael Robert Jr. He is survived by his wife, Cecelia; father, Ronald Allan;
mother, Sherrie; his children, Heather Lissa and Michael Robert Jr.; siblings,
Anne Marie Terry and David Earl Thorpe. Michael had a kind heart and a gentle
spirit. To know him was to love him. Friends may call at Wasatch Lawn

Wessman, Hope Elisabeth
Hope Elisabeth Wessman Will Be Missed Hope Elisabeth Wessman was born May 14,
2005. Prior to her birth, Hope was diagnosed with the chromosomal disorder
Trisomy 18. We knew that her time with us would be limited and felt so blessed
to spend a day with her. She is a beautiful little girl with lots of dark
hair. We are grateful for the memories created with her and look forward to
being reunited as an eternal family. Hope is loved dearly by her parents,
Michael and Marinda Wessman of Murray; and her grandparents, David and Kaye
Wessman of Idaho Falls, and Patrick and Adele Casaday of Sandy. She is also
adored by great-grandparents, Beverly Wessman, Mary and Frank Salisbury, David
and Nancy Robinson, Leo and Leola Nielsen, Ray and Ellen Casaday, Marva and
Tom Manuel; and aunts and uncles, Tim and Katie, Rebekah, Lara, Tami and
Kevin, Stephanie, Brian, Kaley; along with her cousins, Brooklyn and Isaac.
Hope's great-grandpa, John Wessman preceded her in death. A funeral will be
held Wednesday, May 18, 11:30 a.m. at the Murray 3rd Ward (160 East 4600

Worthington, Ronald L.
Ronald L Worthington 1938 ~ 2005 Ronald L Worthington died May 13, 2005 at age
65 in Salt Lake City, UT. He was born July 20, 1938 in Salt Lake City to
Samuel L. and Orveda Garrick Worthington. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955
to 1961. He worked in the travel industry for many years, it was the love of
his life, and he traveled extensively. He moved to Salt Lake City, in 1998 and
worked for Salt Lake City Corporation until March of 2005. He is survived by
his mother, Orveda Garrick Worthington; his brother, Burke (JoLene)
Worthington; nephew, Matthew (Haley) Worthington; nieces, Trena (Dan) Foster,
Cami Robinson, Jennifer Worthington; also seven great-nieces and nephews. He
was preceded in death by his father, Samuel L. Worthington; and sister, "baby"
