Carter, Clarene Guymon Clarene Guymon Carter 1926 ~ 2005 Clarene Guymon Carter, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on August 30, 2005, of natural causes. Clarene was born in Montpelier, Idaho, on April 6, 1926, to Edward Ray Guymon and Ida Geneva Dayley. Her family moved to Logan, Utah, when she was two years old. She attended Utah State University where she met the man she was to marry, Kay L. Carter. They were married on July 12, 1946, in the Logan Temple. They started their life together in Park Valley, Utah, living in a historical family pioneer home. They later built her dream home. Her life there was filled with family, church, and community service. She worked for many years as the Assistant Postmaster for the valley. In December of 1962, they moved to Bountiful, Utah, with their five children. After retiring, they followed her beloved aunts to the Wasatch Manor where she had many wonderful experiences and friends. She worked as a secretary and could type like the wind. She was an efficient and dedicated employee at Utah Sand & Gravel, Environmental Associates, Reaveley Engineering, and the Church Office Building. She was a volunteer in the Family History Center and a security guard for the Church. She loved flowers, especially African Violets and roses. She enjoyed traveling and was able to visit many places in this beautiful world. She served as a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was devoted to her religion and served in many callings in the Sunday School, Primary, Young Women's, and Relief Society. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Kay; sons, Rulon (Jeanne) Carter, and Arnie (Janna) Carter; and daughters, Gwen (Roger) Davis, and Jane (Terry) Jenkins; 14 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, son, (Clinton), and granddaughter, (Michelle). Erickson, Flora England Stock Flora England Stock Erickson "Together Forever" Flora England Stock Erickson, age 92, died August 27, 2005, in Sandy, Utah. Flora was born July 20, 1913, in Fish Haven, Idaho, to Joseph Pierce Stock and Annie Jane Cottle. She graduated from business college and worked for the U.S. Forest Service, where she met her husband. She married Fredrick Danial Erickson Nov. 11, 1941, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Flora played the piano and accompanied Fred, who was an accomplished violinist. She worked in the organizations of the LDS Church, serving as Mutual (Young Women's) president, Primary president, ward organist and also played the piano for Primary for many years until approaching 90 years of age. Mother was extremely good, kind, and unselfish and always put others' needs before her own. She has a testimony of the Savior and is beloved to her friends and family, to whom she was very devoted. She is survived by her children, Grant, Margaret, Steven, Gay, and Eileen; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, who passed away August 28, 2003; sisters, LaPriel, Margery, Dawna, and Beth; and brothers, Glenn and DeVere. Homer, Nicole Caroline Nicole Caroline Homer 1990 ~ 2005 Our Angel daughter and sister Nicole Caroline Homer returned to her Heavenly Father on August 31, 2005, in the loving arms of her parents Kent and Camille Homer. Nicole died on her father's birthday and the eve of her 15th birthday. She was born Sept 1, 1990, in Sandy, Utah. She is the youngest of eight children. Nicole liked tickles, kisses, and being with her family. She enjoyed attending Jordan Valley School where she loved her teachers and friends. Our family would like to thank the staff for their kindness and support. We admire Nicole's example of patience and enduring well many physical challenges. We will miss having her sweet spirit in our home. Larsen "Bob" The love of my life has began a new journey. Bob passed from this life into a new beginning on August 30, 2005. Born June 2, 1932 to Richard R. and Ellen Jensen Larsen in Salt Lake City, Utah where he attended local elementary and Jr. High Schools and became a graduate of Granite High School in 1950. He joined the United States Marine Corp in 1951 at the age of 19, and retired in 1974 as a commissioned officer with the rank of Major. He served his country during this time in many ways, including serving in the Korean War. His life accomplishments included military service, a work history with the FBI, H.J. Heinz Company, security and family. Bob went back to college at age 62 and at age 64 received his Bachelor of Science in English degree with a minor in Political Science from Weber State University. He was the oldest graduating member of his class. An honor he was very proud of proving "your never to old to do whatever you want". He loved the outdoors, fishing, was an avid skier, and ski jumper as well as an accomplished mountain climber. He scaled the mountains of McKinley, Tetons, Everest, and many others including the Wasatch Front Range. Bob always made life an adventure doing things his way, and appreciative of his home, family (including his doggies), and friends. A life of adventure is the one he promised his wife, Paula when they were married May 28, 1990 in Salt Lake. Together it was their adventure where they built their empire out of love and hard work. Survived by his loving wife, Paula; brother, Gary (Annette) Larsen; sons, David (Barbara) Larsen, Kevin (Lili) Larsen, James Mansell (deceased); daughters, Kathleen (Dean) Dalling, Diane (Doug) Cottle, Erika (Ken) Francis and Stacy (Kurt) Lawrence; 24 grandchildren, seven great-grand-children; doggies, Teek and Shadow; nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends. Larson, Donna Ruth Bytheway Donna Ruth Bytheway Larson 1918 ~ 2005 Donna Ruth Bytheway Larson passed away on Aug. 29, 2005, in her home with family at her side. Born July 28, 1918, the oldest of five children, in Seattle, Washington, to Wilford Kendrick and Eunice Agnes Bytheway. Donna graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City, where she was active in Acapella, and worked as a long distance operator for Mountain Bell. She married Dallas James Larson in 1938. During World War II they were stationed in Gulf Port, Mississippi, where Dallas was a Tech Sergeant in the Army Air Corps. After the war they returned to Salt Lake City, and Donna went to work at the Paris Co. as a switchboard operator until her first child was born, in 1948. Donna was very active in the Red Cross and the PTA. Later in life she held positions at Fernwoods and Centralarm. After retirement she worked as a volunteer at the VA hospital for 27 years. Donna had a great love and appreciation for music, animals, travel, and nature, and possessed a wry sense of humor and the ability to laugh at herself. Donna is lovingly survived by her children Jody Larson (Donna Robbins), Mark (Tamara Ferguson) Larsen, Wendy (Robert) Pohl, and Jennifer Larson, her siblings Phyllis Malone, Ray Bytheway, and Ben Bytheway, six grandchildren and seven great-grand-children. She was preceded in death by her brother Jack Bytheway. The family would like to thank Cheryl Chisholm, Stephanie Gardener and all of the Rocky Mountain Hospice staff for their assistance and caring. Linza "Dad, Grandpa & Great-Grandpa" Howard F. Linza, 77, loved and respected dad, grandpa and great grandpa, passed away Sept.1, 2005. He was born December 10, 1928, in Butte, Montana, to Frank Ortanza and Cloda Mae Parrish Linza. Howard married Shirley LaVon Mooney October 11, 1948. LaVon preceded him in death. He married Rita Butterfield on June 9, 1972. Rita passed away July 28, 2001. Howard's greatest love was his family who brought him joy and happiness. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Marks, Phyllis Spurrier Phyllis Spurrier Marks 1920 ~ 2005 Born October 19, 1920, Basin, WY. Educated in Wyoming, Utah and South Dakota schools. Married George J. Marks March 23, 1941. Preceded in death by her husband George and daughter Diana. Survived by her sons Harlow, California, Jerry and his wife LeAnn, North Carolina, brother Stan Spurrier, Salt Lake City, grandson Jeffrey and wife Roslynn with sons Max and Sam, grandson Greg and wife Lisa with sons Bradley, Josh, Ryan and Andrew and granddaughter Nicole Allgrunn (daughter of Diana) and husband Steve with daughter Caitlyn and son Alex. Phyllis was a convert to the LDS Church in 1951 and was active in the Primary, Young Women, Relief Society and the Cub Scouts. For many years she was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and University Hospital, serving on their board of directors. She was a member of the Willow Creek Country club for sixteen years and the Salt Lake Country Club for twenty. At her request, there will be no viewing or funeral. McCall, Neola Zahner Neola Zahner McCall 1921 ~ 2005 Neola Zahner McCall passed into the loving arms of her husband and her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 31, 2005. Wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor and friend, Neola engaged life with a genuine and inspiring love. She will be deeply missed by those whose lives she enriched throughout her 84 years of mortality. Most recently a 20-year resident of Centerville, Utah, Neola Zahner was born to Johann Gottlieb Zahner and Barbara Rosina Stucki on a beautiful spring day in Utah's Dixie, on April 20, 1921. She was the youngest of 21 children. She embraced life and learning, graduating from BYU with a teaching degree and subsequently teaching in New Harmony, Utah. It was there she waited three long years for Walter, her fianc , while he served in the Armed Forces in World War II. Married in the St. George Temple, they settled in Las Vegas, Nevada. There they raised three children. Judy, Gary, and Debbie. While in Las Vegas, Neola was responsible for starting the first government Headstart program in Las Vegas. She then started a Jewish kindergarten program for Temple Beth Sholom. Under her care as Principal, it began as one classroom and flourished into 8. Its reputation was that of the best private kindergarten programs in Las Vegas. It is still in existence today. She left Las Vegas because her husband was transferred to Utah with the Union Pacific Railroad. She has been a volunteer at Lakeview Hospital for over 30 years and received awards for her outstanding work there. She could be found there every Wednesday afternoon, and it was there, on this Wednesday, where sudden heart failure took her from her friends and family here on Earth. Neola dearly loved her family and her temple work. She and Walter worked many years in the St. George and Salt Lake temples. More recently she served in the Bountiful temple. Her legacy passes to her three children, Judy (Dennis) Knoles of Centerville, UT; Gary (Colleen) McCall of Burley, ID; and Debbie (David) Bernhisel of Farmington, UT. Her love will forever be revered by her 14 grandchildren and more than 16 great-grandchildren, as they recall a selfless woman who often taught lessons of pulling taffy, braiding egg bread, and loving without limits. Putnam, Robert Lynn Robert Lynn Putnam 1930 ~ 2005 Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Robert Lynn Putnam, peacefully returned to his Father in Heaven on Wednesday, August 31, 2005, surrounded by his family. Born August 22, 1930, to Ralph A. and Florence Newman Putnam in Salt Lake City, Utah. Bob attended West High School before serving a mission to the New England States. He was proud to have been in one of the last groups of missionaries who served without purse or script. He married his sweetheart Donna Linford on August 20, 1954 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. As an active member of the LDS Church, he served in a variety of ward and stake positions. Bob loved to make people happy, delighted in all types of service, had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed giving children rides on his electric scooter. He also took great pride in his responsibilities as an LDS Hospital volunteer. Bob was a fire fighter and a small business owner, having developed and run numerous Salt Lake businesses. He is survived by his wife of 51 years; children, Debra (Dave) Nigbur, Lynne (Tony) Douros, John (Denise) Putnam, and Frank Yazzie, Jr.; siblings, Stephen (Shirley) Putnam, Gerald (Valerie) Putnam, Jean (Vince) Brown, Gloria Rodgers, Donna (John) Strong; sister-in-law Renae Putnam; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was born on November 8, 1923 to Frank and Evelyn Redford. He retired from Kennecott after 35 years. David was a loving husband, father and was greatly loved in return. Waters, Mark Ronald "Ronnie" Mark Ronald (Ronnie) Waters 1931 ~ 2005 Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005 Heavenly Father summoned home one of his very special spirits that many of us were blessed to have known. Born Nov. 13, 1931 in Salt Lake City to Mark and LaVerda Waters. He began his incredible journey on earth. After having been shot down over the Sea of Japan, during the Korean War. Ronnie was fortunate enough to find his soul mate, Jerry Marie Hepworth, whom he married Aug. 16, 1952. April 14, 1975 Ronnie's life was changed forever when he was crushed by a two ton conveyer belt. Leaving him blind, hearing impaired and suffering a life time of pain that no one should endure. But, fortunately for us, he chose to make the best of it and was an inspiration to all that knew him. Coming out of retirement in 1994 he ran a successful business, Busy Bee Pest Control, for eleven years. He is survived by his five children, Mark (Becky), Rick (Shauna), Judy Brandenburg, Kent (Lisa), Kevin Waters, brothers Lamond and Dean Sisters, Dorsa, Renea, and Janice. As well as 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his grandson Tyler Brandenburg, son-in-law, Brad Brandenburg. You will be sorely missed. Winder, Edwin Cannon "Ned" Edwin Cannon "Ned" Winder 1922 ~ 2005 Our dear Ned Winder passed away August 30, 2005, of a heart condition, with his family at his side. He was born June 1, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Edwin Kent and Alma Cannon Winder. He attended Cyprus High School, before serving a mission in the Southern States. Upon his release, he entered the Navy, where he served his country in World War II. On October 8, 1948, he married his best friend Gwen Layton, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised seven children. He was very instrumental in the growth and development of Winder Dairy and Valley View Memorial Park. Ned's dedication to community and church service has been great and varied. During the course of his life, he served as a mission president, patriarch and sealer in the Salt Lake Temple. If there was a word to describe the life of Ned Winder, it would be "service". His famous sense of humor, genuine love of people and quiet acts of kindness, blessed the lives of many. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, children; Ted (JaNae), Kent (Sherri), Karen (Roger) Nordgren, Doug (Leslie), Janet (Howard) Gurney, Wendy (Bret) Bassett and Nancy (Brent) Yorgason; siblings; Richard (Barbara) Winder, Marion (Willis) Wynn, David Winder and Blake (Cora Lee) Robinson; brother-in-law Jay (Eva) Layton; 37 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
