Gertie was born February 26, 1909, in Goshen, Utah, to David Alfred Dahl and Lydia Anna Johnson. After the death of her parents, when she was four years old, she went, with her siblings, in February, 1913, to live with her uncle, Arthur Dahl, in Raymond, Alberta, Canada. She was raised in a combined family of 13 brothers, sisters, and cousins. She married William Fairbanks in the Cardston Alberta L.D.S. Temple, January 8, 1931. Bill and Gertie ran a successful business in Raymond for more than 30 years. Gertie was a devoted mother. She especially loved little children. She was a wonderful homemaker and a gifted cook. Her pies were the best. Shortly after the death of her husband, on May 30, 1977, she moved to Orem, Utah, to be near her children. She is survived by her four children: Barbara Sutton (Richard), Houston, Texas; William (Joy), Orem; Wallace (Frances), Orem; and Carolyn Billings (Curtis), Smithfield, Utah; 18 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Cameron; three sisters, and two brothers. As a family, we are comforted by the knowledge that there is a joyous reunion with Mom and Dad and Cameron, her parents, and her brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2004, at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street in Orem. Friends may call one hour before the service. Hutchings, Myrtle Jean Dudley Myrtle "Jean" Dudley Hutchings Our beloved Myrtle "Jean" Dudley Hutchings, 65, passed away December 4, 2004. She was born December 6, 1938, in Spanish Fork, Utah, to Mervin Wade and Myrtle Ester Dudley. Jean developed many friends over her life. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School. She married Bert Arnold Elliot, and later divorced. Later, she married Von M. Hutchings, and together they raised eight girls and one boy. After 16 years together, they divorced. She worked for many years at Bunce's Care Center and the Utah Valley Care Center, and then retired after working at the Utah State Hospital. Jean was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved to volunteer as a Pink Lady at the U.V.R.M.C., do flower arranging, go to musical plays and concerts. Her greatest joy in life was being with her family and doing all kinds of activities with each of them. She is survived by her children: Debra (Keven) Twitchell, of American Fork; Sheryl (Joedy) Sisler, of Las Vegas; Trina (Lynn) Barney, of Payson; Kristine Coffman, of Provo; Connie Becker, of Orem; Rochelle Hutchings, of Provo; Robin (Derek) Sass, of Washington Terrace; & Rolonda Johnson, of Las Vegas. Also surviving her are 19 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; brothers & sisters: Mervin (Flora) Dudley, of Orem; Leah Snelson, of Springville; and Kathleen (John) Porter, of Payson. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Glen Dudley; a son, Craig Hutchings; and a granddaughter, Alexis Joy Sass. Clawson Bonnie Blanche Clawson Vallentine 1932 -2004 Bonnie Blanche Clawson Vallentine, affectionately known as Nanny, returned to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 4, 2004, after waging a valiant fight against cancer. Bonnie was born December 24, 1932, in Ashland, Kansas, to George M. and Letha Ida Bentley Clawson. She married John Franklin Vallentine on August 10, 1950, in Ashland, Kansas. After Bonnie and John became members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints, their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple on December 16, 1952. She was raised on a farm in Clark County, Kansas, and attended grade school and high school in Ashland, Kansas. She later attended one year at Kansas State University, before starting her family. She and her family have resided in Springville, Utah, since 1968. She was active in the LDS Church, serving as a Primary teacher and president, Relief Society teacher and counselor, Y.W.M.I.A. teacher and president, Seminary advisor, Cub Scout leader, and temple worker. Most recently, she served as a ward librarian. Bonnie also served as a PTA president and 4-H leader for many years. She was involved in her children's and grandchildren's schooling and activities and spent untold hours in the bleachers cheering them on. She easily made friends and especially cherished the many she made while working as a technician at Allen's Pharmacy. The passion of her life was her family. She supported them in every way and loved to travel with them by RV and have them camp close around her. Always young at heart, her favorite destination was the same as her grandchildren - Disneyland, but anywhere with "Nanny" became a "Magical Kingdom"! She is survived by her husband of 54 years; one sister, Darlene Ross, of Laverne, Oklahoma; three children: Dixie Lee (wife of Michael Davis), Cindy (wife of Richard Richins), both of Springville, Utah; and John M., and wife, Jeanne, of South Jordan, Utah; 10 grandchildren: Melody Davis Taylor (wife of Wade Taylor), Adam Davis, Lacey Davis; Daniel Richins, and wife, Tiffani; Ryan Richins, and wife, Kara; Dustin Richins, Chelcie Richins; Jodi Vallentine, Zachary Vallentine, and Michael Vallentine; and 4 great grandchildren: Holden Richins, Makayla Richins; Spencer Taylor, and Grant Taylor. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 8, at 11 a.m., in the Hobble Creek West Stake Center, 555 South 600 East, Springville, Utah. Viewings will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah; and, Wednesday morning, from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the stake center. Wignall, Oleta Johns Oleta Johns Wignall Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend, Oleta Johns Wignall, 74, of Spanish Fork, Utah, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2004, of natural causes, after a long battle of physical ailments due to a stroke. Oleta was born April 8, 1930, in Spanish Fork, to George F. and Agnes Losser Johns. She married Lynn Wignall in June, 1948, who preceded her in death. Oleta loved time being outdoors hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, and spending precious time with her family. She is survived by a daughter, Joy Lake; two sons: Fred Wignall and Mike Wignall; five grandchildren: Jennifer, Lauren, Bret, Kari, and Cole; three great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Anderson; and two brothers: Kenneth (Deby) Johns, and Roy (Coleen) Johns. May our dear Mother now have peace. We love you and will miss you! Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 8, 2004, at 11 a.m., in the Walker Family Mortuary Chapel, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork.
